Intensity-surged and Bandwidth-extended Terahertz Radiation in Two-foci Cascading Plasmas

The two-color strong-field mixing in gas medium is a widely-used approach to generate bright broadband terahertz (THz) radiation. Here, we present a new and counterintuitive method to promote THz performance in two-color scheme. Beyond our knowledge that the maximum THz generation occurs with two-color foci overlapped, we found that, when the foci of two-color beams are noticeably separated along the propagation axis resulting in cascading plasmas, the THz conversion efficiency is surged by one order of magnitude and the bandwidth is stretched by more than 2 times, achieving $10^{-3}$ conversion efficiency and $>$100 THz bandwidth under the condition of 800/400 nm, $\sim$35 fs driving lasers. With the help of the pulse propagation equation and photocurrent model, the observations can be partially understood by the compromise between THz generation and absorption due to the spatial redistribution of laser energy in cascading plasmas. Present method can be extended to mid-infrared driving laser, and the new records of THz peak power and conversion efficiency are expected.

The mass spectrum and wave functions of the $B_c$ system

The spectrum and relativistic wave functions of $B_c$ system are investigated via solving the complete Salpeter equation. Emphases are put on the study of the partial waves of each $J^P$ state. Our study shows that there are three categories of $J^P$ states. The first category contains $0^-$ and $0^+$ states, which are ${}^1S_0$ dominant state with a small amount of $P$ wave and ${}^3P_0$ dominant state with a small amount of $S$ wave, respectively. The second category includes the natural parity states, such as $1^-$, $2^+$, $3^-$, etc. Taking the $1^-$ state as an example, we study it in two cases. One is the ${}^3S_1$ dominant state with a small amount of $P$ and $D$ waves, and the other is the ${}^3D_1$ dominant state but contains a large amount of $S$ and $P$ wave components. The third category includes the unnatural parity states, such as $1^+$, $2^-$, $3^+$, etc. For the $1^+$ spectrum, the states are grouped into pairs with different radial quantum numbers. Each pair contains two ${}^1P_1-{}^3P_1$ mixing states, and the corresponding mixing angles are calculated by using the relativistic wave functions.

The newly observed state $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$

We choose the Reduction Formula, PCAC and Low Energy Theory to reduce the $S$ matrix of a OZI allowed two-body strong decay involving a light pseudoscalar, the covariant transition amplitude formula with relativistic wave functions as input is derived. After confirm this method by the decay $D^*(2010)\to Dπ$, we study the newly observed $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ with supposing it to be the state $D_s(2^1S_0)^+$, we find its decay width $Γ$ is highly sensitive to the $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ mass, which result in the meaningless comparison of widths by different models with various input masses. Instead of width, we studied the overlap integral over the wave functions of initial and final states, here we parameterized it as $X$ which is model-independent, and the ratio $Γ/{|{\vec P_f}|^3}$, both are almost mass independent, to give us useful information. The results show that, all the existing theoretical predictions $X_{D_s(2S) \to D^*K}=0.25\sim 0.41$ and $Γ/{|{\vec P_f}|^3}=0.81\sim1.77$ MeV$^{-2}$ are smaller than experimental data $0.585^{+0.015}_{-0.035}$ and $4.54^{+0.25}_{-0.52}$ MeV$^{-2}$. Further compared with $X^{ex}_{D^*(2010) \to Dπ}=0.540\pm0.009$, the current data $X^{ex}_{D_s(2S) \to D^*K}=0.585^{+0.015}_{-0.035}$ is too big to be an reasonable value, so it is early to say $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ is the conventional $D_s(2^1S_0)^+$ meson.

The partial waves of $B^{*}_{2}(5747)$ and their contributions in strong decays

By adopting the relativistic Bethe-Salpeter method, the OZI allowed strong decays of the $2^+$ state $B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0}$ are studied, emphasis is paid to the relativistic corrections. We first study the partial waves in the wave functions used, find that there are $P$, $D$ and $F$ partial waves in $B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0}$ meson, and the ratios $P:D:F=1:0.421:0.051$. We also find $S:P:D=1:0.354:0.046$ for $B^*$, and $S:P=1:0.343$ for $B$ meson. The large components of the $D$ wave in $B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0}$ and $P$ wave in $B^{(*)}$ means that large relativistic effects existing in these states. Second, we calculate the strong decays, the obtained total decay width $Γ(B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0})=25.9$ MeV and the branching fraction $Γ(B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0} \to B^{*}π)$ / $Γ(B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0} \to Bπ)=0.96$ are consistent well with experimental data. Third, we study the contributions of different partial waves in the initial and final wave functions, find that the relativistic effects are about $15\%$ and $11\%$ for $B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0} \to Bπ$ and $B^{*}_{2}(5747)^{0} \to B^{*}π$, respectively, which are much smaller than our expected, showing that the relativistic corrections are cancelled to each other in these decays.

Mass spectra, wave functions and mixing effects of the $(bcq)$ baryon

Mass spectra and wave functions of the $J^P=\frac{1}{2}^+$ $(bcq)$ baryons are calculated by the relativistic Bethe-Salpeter equation\,(BSE) with considering the mixing effects between the $1^+$ and $0^+$ $(bc)$-diquarks inside. Based on the diquark picture, the three-body problem of baryons is transformed into two two-body problems. The BSE and wave functions of the $0^+$ diquark are given, and then solved numerically to obtain the effective mass spectra and form factors. Also we present the wave functions at zero point for the $(bc)$-diquark. Considering the obtained diquark form factors, the $(bcq)$ baryons are then described by the BSE as the bound state of a diquark and a light quark, where the interaction kernel includes the inner transitions between the $0^+$ and $1^+$ diquarks. The general wave function of the $\frac{1}{2}^+$ $(bcq)$ baryons is constructed and solved to obtain the corresponding mass spectra. Especially, by using the obtained wave functions, the mixing effects between $Ξ_{bc}(Ω_{bc})$ and $Ξ_{bc}'(Ω'_{bc})$ in ground states are computed and determined to be small ($\sim \!1\%$). The numerical results indicate that it is a good choice to take $Ξ_{bc}$ and $Ξ'_{bc}$ as the baryon states with the inside $(bc)$-diquarks occupying the definite spin.

Average speed and its powers $v^n$ of a heavy quark in quarkonia

The typical velocity of a heavy quark in a quarkonium is a widely used quantity, in this paper, based on the relativistic Bethe-Salpeter equation method, we calculate the average values ${\overline{|\boldsymbol{q}|^n}}$ and $ \overline{|\boldsymbol{v}|^n}\equiv v^n$ of a heavy quark in a $S$ wave or $P$ wave quarkonium rest frame, where $\boldsymbol{q}$ and $\boldsymbol{v}$ are the three dimensional momentum and velocity, $n=1,2,3,4$. For a charm quark in $J/ψ$, we obtained $v_{J/ψ}=0.46$, $v^2_{J/ψ}=0.26$, $v^3_{J/ψ}=0.18$, and $v^4_{J/ψ}=0.14$, for a bottom quark in $Υ(1S)$, $v_{Υ(1S)}=0.24$, $v^2_{Υ(1S)}=0.072$, $v^3_{Υ(1S)}=0.025$, and $v^4_{Υ(1S)}=0.010$. The values indicate that ${v^n} >{v^{n_1}}\cdot{v^{n_2}}$, where $n_1+n_2=n$, which is correct for all the charmonia and bottomonia. Our results also show the poor convergence if we make the {speed} expansion in charmonium system, but good for bottomonium. Based on the $v^n$ values and the following obtained relations $v^n_{4S} > v^n_{3S}> v^n_{2S}>v^n_{1S}$, $v^n_{4P} > v^n_{3P}> v^n_{2P}>v^n_{1P}$ and $v^n_{mP}>v^n_{mS}$ ($n,m=1,2,3,4$), we conclude that highly excited quarkonia have larger relativistic corrections than those of the corresponding low excited and ground states, and there are large relativistic corrections in charmonium system.

Dissipation-induced topological phase transition and periodic-driving-induced photonic topological state transfer in a small optomechanical lattice

We propose a scheme to investigate the topological phase transition and the topological state transfer based on the small optomechanical lattice under the realistic parameters regime. We find that the optomechanical lattice can be equivalent to a topologically nontrivial Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model via designing the effective optomechanical coupling. Especially, the optomechanical lattice experiences the phase transition between topologically nontrivial SSH phase and topologically trivial SSH phase by controlling the decay of the cavity field and the optomechanical coupling. We stress that the topological phase transition is mainly induced by the decay of the cavity field, which is counter-intuitive since the dissipation is usually detrimental to the system. Also, we investigate the photonic state transfer between the two cavity fields via the topologically protected edge channel based on the small optomechanical lattice. We find that the quantum state transfer assisted by the topological zero energy mode can be achieved via implying the external lasers with the periodical driving amplitudes into the cavity fields. Our scheme provides the fundamental and the insightful explanations toward the mapping of the photonic topological insulator based on the micro-nano optomechanical quantum optical platform.

Engineering of topological state transfer and topological beam splitter in an even-size Su-Schrieffer-Heeger chain

The usual Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with an even number of lattice sites possesses two degenerate zero energy modes. The degeneracy of the zero energy modes leads to the mixing between the topological left and right edge states, which makes it difficult to implement the state transfer via topological edge channel. Here, enlightened by the Rice-Male topological pumping, we find that the staggered periodic next-nearest neighbor hoppings can also separate the initial mixed edge states, which ensures the state transfer between topological left and right edge states. Significantly, we construct an unique topological state transfer channel by introducing the staggered periodic on-site potentials and the periodic next-nearest neighbor hoppings added only on the odd sites simultaneously, and find that the state initially prepared at the last site can be transfered to the first two sites with the same probability distribution. This special topological state transfer channel is expected to realize a topological beam splitter, whose function is to make the initial photon at one position appear at two different positions with the same probability. Further, we demonstrate the feasibility of implementing the topological beam splitter based on the circuit quantum electrodynamic lattice. Our scheme opens up a new way for the realization of topological quantum information processing and provides a new path towards the engineering of new type of quantum optical device.

Recently observed $P_c$ as molecular states and possible mixture of $P_c(4457)$

Recently observed spectrum of $P_c$ states exhibits a strong link to $Σ_c \bar{D}^{(*)}$ thresholds. In spite of successful molecular interpretations, we still push forward to wonder whether there exist finer structures. Utilizing the effecitve lagrangians respecting heavy quark symmetry and chiral symmetry, as well as instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equations, we investigate the $Σ_c \bar{D}^{(*)}$ interactions and three $P_c$ states. We confirm that $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440)$ are good candidates of $Σ_c \bar{D}$ and $Σ_c \bar{D}^{*}$ molecules with spin-$\frac12$, respectively. Unlike other molecular calculations, our results indicate $P_c(4457)$ signal might be a mixture of spin-$\frac32$ and spin-$\frac12$ $Σ_c \bar{D}^{*}$ molecules, where the latter one appears to be an excitation of $P_c(4440)$. Therefore we conclude that, confronting three LHCb $P_c$ signals, there may exist not three, but four molecular states.

Relativistic calculations of $R(D^{(*)})$, $R(D^{(*)}_s)$, $R(η_c)$ and $R(J/ψ)$

Recently, the deviation of the ratios $R(D)$, $R(D^{*})$ and $R(J/ψ)$ have been found between experimental data and the Standard Model predictions, which may be the hint of New Physics. In this work, we calculate these ratios within the Standard Model by using the improved instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method. The emphasis is pad to the relativistic correction of the form factors. The results are $R(D)=0.312 ^{+0.006}_{-0.007}$, $R(D^*)= 0.249^{+0.001}_{-0.002}$, $R(D_s)=0.320 ^{+0.009}_{-0.009}$, $R(D^*_s)=0.251 ^{+0.002}_{-0.003}$, $R(η_c)=0.384 ^{+0.032}_{-0.042}$, and $R(J/ψ)=0.267 ^{+0.009}_{-0.011}$, which are consistent with predictions of other models and the experimental data. The semileptonic decay rates and corresponding form factors at zero recoil are also given.

Revisiting the Heavy Vector Quarkonium Leptonic Widths

We revisit the heavy quarkonium leptonic decays $ψ(nS) \to \ell^+\ell^-$ and $Υ(nS) \to \ell^+\ell^-$ using the Bethe-Salpeter method. The emphasis is on the relativistic correction. For the $ψ(1S-5S)$ decays, the relativistic effects are $22^{+3}_{-2}\%$, $34^{+5}_{-5}\%$, $41^{+6}_{-6}\%$, $52^{+11}_{-13}\%$ and $62^{+14}_{-12}\%$, respectively. For the $Υ(1S-5S)$ decays, the relativistic effects are $14^{+1}_{-2}\%$, $23^{+0}_{-3}\%$, $20^{+8}_{-2}\%$, $21^{+6}_{-7}\%$ and $28^{+2}_{-7}\%$, respectively. Thus, the relativistic corrections are large and important in heavy quarkonium leptonic decays, especially for the highly excited charmonium. Our results for $Υ(nS) \to \ell^+\ell^-$ are consistent with the experimental data.

Robust interface-state laser in non-Hermitian micro-resonator arrays

We propose a scheme to achieve the analogous interface-state laser by dint of the interface between the two intermediate-resonator-coupled non-Hermitian resonator chains. We find that, after introducing the couplings between the two resonator chains and the intermediate resonator at the interface, the photons of the system mainly gather into the three resonators near the intermediate resonator. The phenomenon of the photon gathering towards the certain resonators is expected to construct the photon storage and even the laser generator. We reveal that the phenomenon is induced via the joint effect between the isolated intermediate resonator and two kinds of non-Hermitian skin effects. Specially, we investigate the interface-state laser in topologically trivial non-Hermitian resonator array in detail. We find that the pulsed interface-state laser can be achieved accompanying with the intermittent proliferation of the photons at the intermediate resonator when an arbitrary resonator is excited. Also, we reveal that the pulsed interface-state laser in the topologically trivial non-Hermitian resonator array is immune to the on-site defects in some cases, whose mechanism is mainly induced by the nonreciprocal couplings instead of the protection of topology. Our scheme provides a promising and excellent platform to investigate interface-state laser in the micro-resonator array.

The study of two quasi-degenerate heavy sterile neutrinos in rare meson decays

In this work, we study the lepton-number-violating processes of $K^\pm$ and $D^\pm$ mesons. Two quasi-degenerate sterile neutrinos are assumed to induce such processes. Different with the case where only one sterile neutrino involves, here, the CP phases of the mixing parameters could give sizable contribution. This, in turn, would affect the absolute values of the mixing parameters determined by the experimental upper limits of the branching fractions. A general function which express the difference of the mixing parameters for two-generation and one-generation is presented. Special cases with specific relations of the parameters are discussed. Besides, we also thoroughly investigate the CP violation effect of such processes. It is shown that generally $\mathcal A_{CP}$ is a function of the sterile neutrino mass.

The weak decay $B_c$ to $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ by Bethe-Salpeter method

Considering $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ as $χ_{c2}(2P)$ and $χ_{c2}(3P)$ states, the semileptonic and nonleptonic of $B_c$ decays to $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ are studied by the improved Bethe-Salpeter(B-S) Method. The form factors of decay are calculated through the overlap integrals of the meson wave functions in the whole accessible kinematical range. The influence of relativistic corrections are considered in the exclusive decays. Branching ratios of $B_c$ weak decays to $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ are predicted. Some of the branching ratios are: $Br(B_c^+\to Z(3930)e^+ν_e)$$=(3.03^{+0.09}_{-0.16})\times 10^{-4}$ and $Br(B_c^+\to X(4160)e^+ν_e)$$=(3.55^{+0.83}_{-0.35})\times 10^{-6}$. These results may provide useful information to discover $Z(3930)$ and $X(4160)$ and the necessary information for the phenomenological study of $B_c$ physics.

Study of the dilepton electromagnetic decays of $χ_{cJ}(1P)$

In this paper, the dilepton electromagnetic decays $χ_{cJ}(1P) \to J/ψe^+e^-$ and $χ_{cJ}(1P) \to Jψμ^+μ^-$, where $χ_{cJ}$ denotes $χ_{c0}$, $χ_{c1}$ and $χ_{c2}$, are calculated systematically in the improved Bethe-Salpeter method. The numerical results of decay widths and the invariant mass distributions of the final lepton pairs are given. The comparison is made with the recently measured experimental data of BESIII. It is shown that for the cases including $e^+e^-$, the gauge invariance is decisive and should be considered carefully. For the processes of $χ_{cJ}(1P) \to J/ψe^+e^-$, the branching fraction are: $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c0}(1P) \to J/ψe^+e^-]=1.06^{+0.16}_{-0.18} \times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1}(1P) \to J/ψe^+e^-]=2.88^{+0.50}_{-0.53} \times 10^{-3}$, and $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c2}(1P) \to J/ψe^+e^-]=1.74^{+0.22}_{-0.21} \times 10^{-3}$. The calculated branching fractions of $χ_{cJ}(1P)\to J/ψμ^+μ^-$ channels are: $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c0}(1P) \to J/ψμ^+μ^-]=3.80^{+0.59}_{-0.64} \times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1}(1P) \to J/ψμ^+μ^-]=2.04^{+0.36}_{-0.38} \times 10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c2}(1P) \to J/ψμ^+μ^-]=1.66^{+0.19}_{-0.19} \times 10^{-4}$.

Topological and nontopological edge states induced by qubit-assisted coupling potentials

In the usual Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) chain, the topology of the energy spectrum is divided into two categories in different parameter regions. Here we study the topological and nontopological edge states induced by qubit-assisted coupling potentials in circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) lattice system modelled as a SSH chain. We find that, when the coupling potential added on only one end of the system raises to a certain extent, the strong coupling potential will induce a new topologically nontrivial phase accompanied with the appearance of a nontopological edge state in the whole parameter region, and the novel phase transition leads to the inversion of odd-even effect in the system directly. Furthermore, we also study the topological properties as well as phase transitions when two unbalanced coupling potentials are injected into both the ends of the circuit QED lattice system, and find that the system exhibits three distinguishing phases in the process of multiple flips of energy bands. These phases are significantly different from the previous phase induced via unilateral coupling potential, which is reflected by the existence of a pair of nontopological edge states under strong coupling potential regime. Our scheme provides a feasible and visible method to induce a variety of different kinds of topological and nontopological edge states through controlling the qubit-assisted coupling potentials in circuit QED lattice system both in experiment and theory.

$D$-Wave Charmonia $η_{c2}$($1{^1D_2}$), $ψ_2$($1{^3D_2}$), and $ψ_3$($1{^3D_3}$) in $B_c$ Decays

We study the semi-leptonic and non-leptonic decays of $B_c$ meson to $D$-wave charmonia, namely, $η_{c2}(1^1\!D_2)$, $ψ_2(1^3\!D_2)$, and $ψ_3(1^3\!D_3)$. In our calculations, the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method is applied to achieve the hadronic matrix elements. This method includes relativistic corrections which are important especially for the higher orbital excited states. For the semi-leptonic decay channels with electron as the final lepton, we get the branching ratios $\mathcal{B}[B_c \rightarrow η_{c2}e\barν_e] = 5.9^{-0.8}_{+1.0}\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}[B_c \rightarrow ψ_2e\barν_e]=1.5^{-0.2}_{+0.3}\times 10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}[B_c \rightarrow ψ_3e\barν_e]=3.5^{-0.6}_{+0.8}\times 10^{-4}$. The transition form factors, forward-backward asymmetries, and lepton spectra in these processes are also presented. For the non-leptonic decay channels, those with $ρ$ as the lighter meson have the largest branching ratios, $\mathcal{B}[B_c \rightarrow η_{c2}ρ] = 8.1^{-1.0}_{+1.0}\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}[B_c \rightarrow ψ_2ρ]=9.6^{-1.0}_{+1.0}\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}[B_c \rightarrow ψ_3ρ]=4.1^{-0.7}_{+0.8}\times 10^{-4}$.

Strong decays of $D_{3}^{\ast}(2760)$, $D_{s3}^{\ast}(2860)$, $B_{3}^{\ast}$, and $B_{s3}^{\ast}$

In this paper, we study the OZI-allowed two-body strong decays of $3^-$ heavy-light mesons. Experimentally the charmed $D_{3}^{\ast}(2760)$ and the charm-strange $D_{s3}^{\ast}(2860)$ states with these quantum numbers have been discovered. For the bottomed $B(5970)$ state, which was found by the CDF Collaboration recently, its quantum number has not been decided yet and we assume its a $3^-$ meson in this paper. The theoretical prediction for the strong decays of bottom-strange state $B_{s3}^\ast$ is also given. The relativistic wave functions of $3^-$ heavy mesons are constructed and their numerical values are obtained by solving the corresponding Bethe-Salpeter equation with instantaneous approximation. The transition matrix is calculated by using the PCAC and low energy theorem, following which, the decay widths are obtained. For $D_{3}^\ast(2760)$ and $D_{s3}^\ast(2860)$, the total strong decay widths are 72.6 MeV and 47.6 MeV, respectively. For $B_3^\ast$ with $M=5978$ MeV and $B_{s3}^\ast$ with $M=6178$ MeV, their strong decay widths are 22.9 MeV and 40.8 MeV, respectively.

The Production of $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ in $B_c$ decays

Considering $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ as $η_c(3S)$ and $η_c(4S)$, we study the productions of $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ in exclusive weak decays of $B_c$ meson by the improved Bethe-Salpeter(B-S) Method. Using the relativistic B-S equation and Mandelstam formalism, we calculate the corresponding decay form factors. The predictions of the corresponding branching ratios are: $Br(B_c^+\to X(3940)e^+ν_e)$$=1.0\times10^{-4}$ and $Br(B_c^+\to X(4160)e^+ν_e)=2.4\times10^{-5}$. That will provide us a new way to observe the $X(3940)$ and $X(4160)$ in the future, as well as to improve the knowledge of $B_c$ meson decay.

Some of semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of $B_c$ meson in a Bethe-Salpeter relativistic quark model

The semileptonic decays $B_c^+\rightarrow P(V) +\ell^++\barν_\ell$ and the nonleptonic decays $B_c^+\rightarrow P(V)+L$, where $P(V)$ denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) charmonium or ($\bar{b}s$)-meson, and $L$ denotes a light meson, are studied in the framework of improved instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter (BS) equation and the Mandelstam formula. The numerical results (width and branching ratio of the decays) are presented in tables, and in order to compare conveniently, those obtained by other approaches are also put in the relevant tables. Based on the fact that the ratio $\frac{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrowψ(2S)π^+)}{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ψπ^+)}=0.24^{+0.023}_{-0.040}$ estimated here is in good agreement with the observation by the LHCb $\frac{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow ψ(2S)π^+)}{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ψπ^+)}=0.250\pm0.068(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.014(\mathrm{syst})\pm0.006(\mathcal{B})$, one may conclude that with respect to the decays the present framework works quite well.

The Study of Rare $B_c\rightarrow D^{(*)}_{s,d}l\bar{l}$ Decays

In this paper, we study rare decays $B_c\rightarrow D^{(*)}_{s,d}l\bar{l}$ within the Standard Model. The penguin, box, annihilation, color-favored cascade and color-suppressed cascade contributions are included. Based on our calculation, the annihilation and color-favored cascade diagrams play important roles in the differential branching fractions, forward-backward asymmetries, longitudinal polarizations of the final vector mesons and leptonic longitudinal polarization asymmetries. More importantly, color-favored cascade decays largely enhance the resonance cascade contributions. To avoid the resonance cascade contribution pollution, new cutting regions are put forward.

Annihilation rate of $2^{-+}$ charmonium and bottomonium

The $1^1D_2 (c\bar c)$ state is the ground state of spin-singlet D-wave charmonia. Although it has not been found yet, the experimental data accumulate rapidly. This charmonium attracts more and more attention, especially when the BaBar Collaboration finds that the X(3872) particle has negative parity. In this paper we calculate the double-gamma and double-gluon annihilation processes of $^1D_2$ charmonia and bottomonia by using the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method. We find the relativistic corrections make the decay widths of $1^1D_2 (c\bar c)$ 2$\sim$5 times smaller than the non-relativistic results. If this state is below the $D^0{D^{0}}^\ast$ threshold, we can use the sum of annihilation widths and EM transition widths to estimate the total decay width. Our result for $1{^1D_2} (c\bar c)$ with $m=3820$ GeV is $Γ= 432$ keV. The dominant decay channel $1^1D_2 (c\bar c)\to h_c γ$, whose branching ratio is about 90%, can be used to discover this state.

Lepton-number violating four-body decays of heavy mesons

Neutrinoless hadron Lepton Number Violating (LNV) decays can be induced by virtual Majorana neutrino, which in turn indubitably show the Majorana nature of neutrinos. Many three-body LNV processes and Lepton Flavour Violating (LFV) processes have been studied extensively in theory and by experiment. As a supplement, we here study 75 four-body LNV (LFV) processes from heavy pseudoscalar $B$ and $D$ decays. Most of these processes have not been studied in theory and searched for in experiment, while they may have sizable decay rates. Since the four-body decay modes have the same vertexes and mixing parameters with three-body cases, so their branching fractions are comparable with the corresponding three-body decays. We calculate their decay widths and branching fractions with current bounds on heavy Majorana neutrino mixing parameters, and estimate some channels' reconstruction events using the current experimental data from Belle.

The Properties of $D^{*}_{s1}(2700)^{+}$

The new particle $D^{*}_{s1}(2700)^{+}$ has stimulated many attentions. There are different assignments of its inherent properties. It may be a $2^3S_1$, $1^3D_1$ or the mixture of $2^3S_1-1^3D_1$ $c\bar s$ $1^-$ state. By considering its mass, decay modes, full width, production rate, and comparing with current experimental data, we point out that there is another more reasonable assignment: $D^{*}_{s1}(2700)^{+}$ could be identified as two resonances, one of which is a $2^3S_1$ state, another is a 1D state, and both are $c\bar s$ $1^-$ states. The two states have very close masses, which are around 2700 MeV, and both have broad decay widths. So in experiments, the overlapping of $DK$ or $D^*K$ invariant mass distribution coming from their decays is found, but the current experiments could not distinguish these two resonances and reported one particle.

Two-Body Strong Decay of Z(3930) as the $χ_{c2} (2P)$ State

The new particle Z(3930) found by the Belle and BaBar Collaborations through the $γγ\rightarrow D\bar D$ process is identified to be the $χ_{c2}(2P)$ state. Since the mass of this particle is above the $D\bar D^{(\ast)}$ threshold, the OZI-allowed two-body strong decays are the main decay modes. In this paper, these strong decay modes are studied with two methods. One is the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method within Mandelstam formalism. The other is the combination of the $^3P_0$ model and the former formalism. The total decay widths are 26.3 and 27.3 MeV for the methods with or without the $^3P_0$ vertex, respectively. The ratio of $Γ_{D\bar D}$ over $Γ_{D\bar D^\ast}$ which changes along with the mass of the initial meson is also presented.

Why X(3915) is so narrow as a $χ_{c0}(2P)$ state

New resonance X(3915) was identified as the charmonium $χ_{c0}(2P)$ by BABAR Collaboration, but there seems still open question of this assignment: why its full width is so narrow? To answer this question, we calculate the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) allowed strong decays $X(3915)\to D \bar D$, where X(3915) is assigned as a $χ_{c0}(2P)$ state, and estimate its full width in the cooperating framework of $^3/!P_0^{}$ model and the Bethe-Salpeter (BS) method using the Mandelstam Formalism, during which non-perturbative QCD effects of the hadronic matrix elements are well considered by overlapping integral over the relativistic Salpeter wave functions of the initial and finial states. We find the node structure of $χ_{c0}(2P)$ wave function resulting in the narrow width of X(3915) and show the dependence of the decay width on the variation of the initial mass of X(3915). We point out that the rate of $\frac{Γ(X(3915)\to D^+ D^-)}{Γ(X(3915)\to D^0 \bar D^0)}$ is crucial to confirm whether X(3915) is the $χ_{c0}(2P)$ state or not.

EM Decay of X(3872) as the $1{^1D_2}(2^{-+})$ charmonium

The recently BaBar results raise the possibility that X(3872) has negative parity. This makes people reconsider assigning X(3872) to the $1{^1D_2}(c\bar c)$ state. In this paper we give a general form of the wave function of $2^{-+}$ mesons. By solving the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equation, we get the mass spectrum and corresponding wave functions. We calculate electromagnetic decay widths of the first $2^{-+}$ state which we assume to be the X(3872) particle. The results are $Γ(2^{-+}(3872)\rightarrow J/ψγ) = 1.59^{+0.53}_{-0.42}$ keV, $Γ(2^{-+}(3872)\rightarrow ψ(2S)γ) = 2.87^{+1.46}_{-0.97}$ eV and $Γ(2^{-+}(3872)\rightarrow ψ(3770)γ) = 0.135^{+0.066}_{-0.047}$ keV. The ratio of branch fractions of the second and first channel is about 0.002, which is inconsistent with the experimental value $3.4\pm 1.4$. So X(3872) is unlikely to be a $2^{-+}$ charmonium state. In addition, we obtain a relatively large decay width for $2^{-+}(3872)\rightarrow h_cγ$ channel which is $392^{+62}_{-111}$ keV.

Estimating Form Factors of $B_s\rightarrow D_s^{(*)}$ and their Applications to Semi-leptonic and Non-leptonic Decays

$B_s^0\rightarrow D_s^{-}$ and $B_s^0\rightarrow D_s^{*-}$ weak transition form factors are estimated for the whole physical region with a method based on an instantaneous approximated Mandelstam formulation of transition matrix elements and the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equation. We apply the estimated form factors to branching ratios, CP asymmetries and polarization fractions of non-leptonic decays within the factorization approximation. And we study the non-factorizable effects and annihilation contributions with the perturbative QCD approach. The branching ratios of semi-leptonic $B_s^0\rightarrow D_s^{(*)-}l^+ν_l$ decays are also evaluated. We show that the calculated decay rates agree well with the available experimental data. The longitudinal polarization fraction of $B_s\rightarrow D_s^*V(A)$ decays are $\sim0.8$ when $V(A)$ denotes a light meson, and are $\sim0.5$ when $V(A)$ denotes a $D_q$ ($q=d,s$) meson.

Is $Z_b(10610)$ a Molecular State?

Whether molecular states indeed exist in nature has been disputed for a long time. Several new resonances have been observed in the recent experiments and they seem to be of exotic structures and some of them have been proposed to be molecular states. The very recent observation of $Z_b(10610)[(10608.4\pm 2.0)$ MeV] and $Z_b(10650)[(10653.2\pm 1.5)$ MeV] encourages the interpretation of multi-quark states. In the Beter-Salpeter (BS) approach, we study the possibility if two heavy mesons can form a molecular state by exchanging light mesons. Our results indicate that two heavy mesons can form an isospin singlet (I=0) bound state but cannot form an isospin triplet (I=1) when the contribution of $σ-$ exchange is reasonably small, i.e. as the coupling of $σ$ with mesons $g_σ$ takes the value given in previous literatures. Thus we conclude that the newly observed $Z_b(10610)$ should not be a molecular state, but a tetraquark state instead, at most, the fraction of the molecular state in the physical resonance $Z_b(10610)$ is tiny.

The $B_c$ Decays to $P$-wave Charmonium by Improved Bethe-Salpeter Approach

We re-calculate the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of $B_c$ meson to a $P$-wave charmonium in terms of the improved Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) approach, which is developed recently. Here the widths for the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays, the form factors, and the charged lepton spectrums for the semileptonic decays are precisely calculated. To test the concerned approach by comparing with experimental measurements when the experimental data are available, and to have comparisons with the other approaches the results obtained by the approach and those by some approaches else as well as the original B-S approach, which appeared in literature, are comparatively presented and discussed.

The Productions and Strong Decays of $D_q(2S)$ and $B_q(2S)$

We study the productions of first radial excited states $D_q(2S)$ ($q=u, d, s$) and $B_q(2S)$ in exclusive semi-leptonic $B_{q'}$ ($q'=u, d s, c$) decays by the improved Bethe-Salpeter method. These 2S states can be detected through their strong decays to ground mesons, where the strong decays are calculated by the low energy approximation as well as the impulse approximation. Some channels have ratios of order $10^{-4}$: $Br(B^+\to\bar D^0(2S)\ell^+{ν_\ell})\times Br(\bar D^0(2S)\to \bar D^{*}π)\approx(4.9\pm4.0)\times10^{-4}$, $Br(B^0\to D^-(2S)\ell^+{ν_\ell})\times Br(D^-(2S)\to \bar D^{*}π)\approx(4.4\pm3.4)\times10^{-4}$. These channels could be measured by the current B-factories. For $D_s(2S)$, we also obtain a relative large ratio: $Br(B_s^0\to D_s^-(2S)\ell^+{ν_\ell})\times Br(D_s^-(2S)\to \bar D^{*}\bar K)\approx (9.9\pm14.9)\times10^{-4}$. Although there are discrepancies of the full decay width between the theoretical predictions of ${D}^0(2S)$ and experimental results of $D(2550)^0$, the new detected state $D(2550)^0$ is very likely the ${D}^0(2S)$ state.

We calculate the masses and the strong decays of orbitally excited states $B_{s0}$, $B'_{s1}$, $B_{s1}$ and $B_{s2}$ by the improved Bethe-Salpeter method. The predicted masses of $B_{s0}$ and $B'_{s1}$ are $M_{B_{s0}}=5.723\pm0.280 {\rm GeV}$, $M_{B'_{s1}}=5.774\pm0.330 {\rm GeV}$. We calculate the isospin symmetry violating decay processes $B_{s0}\to B_s π$ and $B'_{s1}\to B_s^* π$ through $π^0-η$ mixing and get small widths. Considering the uncertainties of the masses, for $B_{s0}$ and $B'_{s1}$, we also calculate the OZI allowed decay channels: $B_{s0}\to B\bar K$ and $B'_{s1}\to B^*\bar K$. For $B_{s1}$ and $B_{s2}$, the OZI allowed decay channels $B_{s1}\to B^{*}\bar K$, $B_{s2}\to B\bar K$ and $B_{s2}\to B^{*}\bar K$ are studied. In all the decay channels, the reduction formula, PCAC relation and low energy theorem are used to estimate the decay widths. We also obtain the strong coupling constants $G_{B_{s0}B_sπ}$, $G_{B_{s0}B\bar K}$, $G_{B'_{s1}B_s^*π}$, $F_{B'_{s1}B_s^*π}$, $G_{B'_{s1}B^*\bar K}$, $F_{B'_{s1}B^*\bar K}$, $G_{B_{s1}B^{*}\bar K}$, $F_{B_{s1}B^{*}\bar K}$, $G_{B_{s2}B\bar K}$ and $G_{B_{s2}B^{*}\bar K}$.

Lepton-Number Violating Decays of Heavy Mesons

The experimental observation of lepton-number violating processes would unambiguously indicate the Majorana nature of neutrinos. Various $ΔL$ = 2 processes for pseudoscalar meson $M_1$ decays to another pseudoscalar meson $M_2$ and two charged leptons $\ell_1$, $\ell_2$ ($M_1^+\to \ell_1^+\ell_2^+M_2^-$) have been studied extensively. Extending the existing literature on the studies of these kinds of processes, we consider the rare decays of heavy mesons to a vector meson or a pseudoscalar meson. These processes have not been searched for experimentally, while they may have sizable decay rates. We calculate their branching fractions and propose to search for these decay modes in the current and forthcoming experiments, in particular at the LHCb.

Probing Non-leptonic Two-body Decays of $B_c$ meson

Rates and CP asymmetries of the non-leptonic two-body decay of $B_c$ are calculated based on the low energy effective Hamiltonian. We concentrate on such $b$ quark decays of the processes with $0^-$ and $1^-$ S-wave particles and/or $0^+$ and $1^+$ P-wave particles in the final states. The Salpeter method, which is the relativistic instantaneous approximation of the original Bethe-Salpeter equation, is used to derive hadron transition matrix elements. Based on the calculation, it is found that the best decay channels to observe CP violation are $B_c^-\rightarrow η_c +D^-(D^{*-}_0)$, which need about $\sim10^7$ $B_c$ events in experiment. Decays to $ η_c +D^{*-}(D_s^-), h_c+D^-(D^{*-})(D^{*-}_0), J/Ψ+D^{*-}$ are also hopeful channels.

We firstly calculated the E1 decay width of $χ_{c1}$(1P), the result is in agreement with experimental data excellently, then we calculated the case of $\rm X(3872)$ with the assignment that it is $χ_{c1}$(2P). Results are: $Γ({\rm X(3872)}\rightarrow γ\sl J/ψ)=33.0$ keV, $Γ({\rm X(3872)}\rightarrow γψ(2S))=146$ keV and $Γ({\rm X(3872)}\rightarrow γψ(3770))=7.09$ keV. The ratio ${{\rm Br(X(3872)}\rightarrowγψ(2{\rm S}))}/{{\rm Br(X(3872)}\rightarrow γ{\sl J}/ψ)}=4.4$ agrees with experimental data by BaBar, but larger than the new up-bound reported by Belle recently. With the same method, we also predict the decay widths: $Γ(χ_{b1}(1\rm P))\rightarrow γΥ(1\rm S))=30.0$ keV, $Γ(χ_{b1}(2\rm P))\rightarrow γΥ(1\rm S))=5.65$ keV and $Γ(χ_{b1}(2\rm P))\rightarrow γΥ(2S))=15.8$ keV, and the full widths: $Γ(χ_{b1}(1\rm P))\sim 85.7$ keV, $Γ(χ_{b1}(2\rm P))\sim 66.5$ keV.

Spectrum for Heavy Quankonia and Mixture of the Relevant Wave Functions within the Framework of Bethe-Salpeter Equation

Considering the fact that some excited states of the heavy quarkonia (charmonium and bottomonium) still missing in experimental observations and potential applications of the relevant wave functions of the bound states, we re-analyze the spectrum and the relevant wave functions of the heavy quarkonia within the framework of Bethe-Salpeter (B.S.) equation with a proper QCD-inspired kernel. Such a kernel for the heavy quarkonia, relating to potential of non-relativistic quark model, is instantaneous, so we call the corresponding B.S. equation as BS-In equation throughout the paper. Particularly, a new way to solve the B.S. equation, which is different from the traditional ones, is proposed here, and with it not only the known spectrum for the heavy quarkonia is re-generated, but also an important issue is brought in, i.e., the obtained solutions of the equation `automatically' include the 'fine', 'hyperfine' splittings and the wave function mixture, such as $S-D$ wave mixing in $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ states, $P-F$ wave mixing in $J^{PC}=2^{++}$ states for charmonium and bottomonium etc. It is pointed out that the best place to test the wave mixture probably is at $Z$-factory ($e^+e^-$ collider running at $Z$-boson pole with extremely high luminosity).

We analyzed the decays of $B^{+}\to {\bar {D}^0}+D^{+}_{sJ}(2S)$ and $B^{+}\to\bar D^{0}+D^{+}_{sJ}(1D)$ by naive factorization method and model dependent calculation based on the Bethe-Salpeter method, the branching ratios are $Br({\bar {D}^0}D^{+}_{sJ}(2S))=(0.72\pm0.12)%$ and $Br({\bar {D}^0}D^{+}_{sJ}(1D))=(0.027\pm0.007)%$. The branching ratio of decay $B^{+}\to {\bar {D}^0}D^{+}_{sJ}(2S)\to {\bar {D}^0}D^0 K^+$ consist with the data of Belle Collaboration, so we conclude that the new state $D^{+}_{sJ}(2700)$ is the first excited state $D^{+}_{sJ}(2S)$.

The magnetic dipole transitions in the $(c\bar{b})$ binding system

The magnetic dipole transitions between the vector mesons $B_c^*$ and their relevant pseudoscalar mesons $B_c$ ($B_c$, $B_c^*$, $B_c(2S)$, $B_c^*(2S)$, $B_c(3S)$ and $B_c^*(3S)$ etc, the binding states of $(c\bar{b})$ system) of the $B_c$ family are interesting. To see the `hyperfine' splitting due to spin-spin interaction is an important topic for understanding the spin-spin interaction and the spectrum of the the $(c\bar{b})$ binding system. The knowledge about the magnetic dipole transitions is also very useful for identifying the vector boson $B_c^*$ mesons experimentally, whose masses are just slightly above the masses of their relevant pseudoscalar mesons $B_c$ accordingly. Considering the possibility to observe the vector mesons via the transitions at $Z^0$ factory and the potentially usages of the theoretical estimate on the transitions, we fucus our efforts on calculating the magnetic dipole transitions, i.e. precisely to calculate the rates for the transitions such as decays $B_c^*\to B_cγ$ and $B_c^*\to B_c e^+e^-$, and particularly work in the Behte-Salpeter framework. In the estimate, as a typical example, we carefully investigate the dependance of the rate $Γ(B_c^*\to B_cγ)$ on the mass difference $ΔM=M_{B_c^*}-M_{B_c}$ as well.

Average Kinetic Energy of Heavy Quark ($μ_π^2$) inside Heavy Meson of $0^-$ State by Bethe-Salpeter Method

The average kinetic energy of the heavy quark inside $B$ or $D$ meson is computed by means of the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method. We first solve the relativistic Salpeter equation and obtain the relativistic wave function and mass of $0^{-}$ state, then we use the relativistic wave function to calculate the average kinetic energy of the heavy quark inside heavy meson of $0^{-}$ state. Study on the Form Factors at Effective Vertices of Diqarks Interacting with Gauge Bosons

The diquark structure in baryons is commonly accepted as a reasonable approximation which can much simplify the picture and reduce the length of calculations. However, a diquark by no means is a point-like particle, even though it is treated as a whole object. Therefore, to apply the diquark picture to the phenomenological calculations, at the effective vertices for the diquark-gauge boson interactions, suitable form factors must be introduced to compensate the effects caused by the inner structure of the diquark. It is crucial to derive the appropriate form factors for various interactions. In this work, we use the Bethe-Salpeter equation to derive such form factors and numerically evaluate their magnitudes.

Instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter Equation and Its Exact Solution

We present an approach to solve a Bethe-Salpeter (BS) equation exactly without any approximation if the kernel of the BS equation exactly is instantaneous, and take positronium as an example to illustrate the general features of the solutions. As a middle stage, a set of coupled and self-consistent integration equations for a few scalar functions can be equivalently derived from the BS equation always, which are solvable accurately. For positronium, precise corrections to those of the Schrödinger equation in order $v$ (relative velocity) in eigenfunctions, in order $v^2$ in eigenvalues, and the possible mixing, such as that between $S$ ($P$) and $D$ ($F$) components in $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ ($J^{PC}=2^{++}$) states as well, are determined quantitatively. Moreover, we also point out that there is a problematic step in the classical derivation which was proposed first by E.E. Salpeter. Finally, we emphasize that for the effective theories (such as NRQED and NRQCD etc) we should pay great attention on the corrections indicated by the exact solutions.

Decays of the Meson $B_c$ to a $P$-Wave Charmonium State $χ_c$ or $h_c$

The semileptonic decays, $B_{c}{\longrightarrow}{χ_c}(h_c)+{\ell}+{ν}_{\ell}$, and the two-body nonleptonic decays, $B_{c}{\longrightarrow}{χ_c}(h_c)+h$, (here $χ_c$ and $h_c$ denote $(c\bar c[^3P_J])$ and $(c\bar c[^1P_1])$ respectively, and $h$ indicates a meson) were computed. All of the form factors appearing in the relevant weak-current matrix elements with $B_c$ as its initial state and a $P$-wave charmonium state as its final state for the decays were precisely formulated in terms of two independent overlapping-integrations of the wave-functions of $B_c$ and the $P$-wave charmonium and with proper kinematics factors being `accompanied'. We found that the decays are quite sizable, so they may be accessible in Run-II at Tevatron and in the foreseen future at LHC, particularly, when BTeV and LHCB, the special detectors for B-physics, are borne in mind. In addition, we also pointed out that the decays $B_c\to h_c+...$ may potentially be used as a fresh window to look for the $h_c$ charmonium state, and the cascade decays, $B_c\to χ_c[^3P_{1,2}]+l+ν_l$ ($B_c\to χ_c[^3P_{1,2}]+h$) with one of the radiative decays $χ_c[^3P_{1,2}] \to J/ψ+γ$ being followed accordingly, may affect the observations of $B_c$ meson through the decays $B_{c}\to {J/ψ}+{l}+ν_{l}$ ($B_c\to J/ψ+h$) substantially.

The Pure Leptonic Decays of B_c Meson and Their Radiative Corrections

The radiative corrections to the pure leptonic decay $B_c \to \ellν_{\ell}$ up-to one-loop order is presented. How to cancel the infrared divergences appearing in the loop calculations, and the radiative decay $B_c \to \ellν_{\ell}γ$ is shown precisely. It is emphasized that the radiative decay may be separated properly and may compare with measurements directly as long as the theoretical `softness' of the photon corresponds to the experimental resolutions. Furthermore with a kind of non-relativistic constituent quark model, a kind of typical long distance contributions to the radiative decays is estimated, and it is shown that the contributions are negligible in comparison with the accuracy of one-loop corrections and the expected experimental measurements.
