Search for rare decays B+→Ds(∗)+ηB^{+} \to D_{s}^{(\ast)+}η, Ds(∗)+Kˉ0D_{s}^{(\ast)+}\bar{K}^{0}, D+ηD^{+}η, and D+K0D^{+}K^{0}

We present a study of rare decay modes B+→Ds+h0B^{+} \to D_{s}^{+}h^{0}, B+→Ds∗+h0B^{+} \to D_{s}^{\ast+}h^{0}, and B+→D+h0B^{+} \to D^{+}h^{0}, where h0h^{0} denotes the neutral mesons ηη or K0K^{0}, using a data sample of (772±10)×106(772 \pm 10 ) \times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar{B} events produced at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance. The data were collected by the Belle detector operating at the asymmetric-energy KEKB collider. We observe no evidence for these decays, so we provide upper limits at the 90%\% confidence level on the branching fractions of B+→Ds+h0B^{+} \to D_{s}^{+}h^{0}, Ds∗+h0D_{s}^{\ast+}h^{0}, and D+h0D^{+}h^{0} decay modes. Along with rare decay modes, we report improved measurements of the color-suppressed decay branching fractions B(Bˉ0→D0η)\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to D^{0}η) = (26.6 ±\pm 1.2 ±\pm 2.1) ×\times 10−510^{-5} and B(Bˉ0→D0Kˉ0)\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to D^{0}\bar{K}^{0}) = (5.6 ±\pm 0.5 ±\pm 0.2) ×\times 10−510^{-5}. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Evidence of a new excited charmed baryon decaying to Σc(2455)0,++π±Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} π^{\pm}

We present the study of Bˉ0→Σc(2455)0,++π±pˉ\bar{B}^{0} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} π^{\pm} \bar{p} decays based on 772×106772\times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar{B} events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider. The Σc(2455)0,++Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} candidates are reconstructed via their decay to Λc+π∓Λ_{c}^{+} π^{\mp} and Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} decays to pK−π+, pKS0,pK^{-}π^{+},~pK_{S}^{0}, and Λπ+Λπ^{+} final states. The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be B(Bˉ0→Σc(2455)0π+pˉ)=(1.09±0.06±0.07)×10−4{\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0} π^{+} \bar{p}) = (1.09 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.07)\times10^{-4} and B(Bˉ0→Σc(2455)++π−pˉ)=(1.84±0.11±0.12)×10−4{\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{++} π^{-} \bar{p}) = (1.84\pm 0.11 \pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the MΣc(2455)0,++π±M_{Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{\pm}} spectrum with a significance of 4.2σ4.2σ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} and is tentatively named Λc(2910)+Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}. Its mass and width are measured to be (2913.8±5.6±3.8)(2913.8 \pm 5.6 \pm 3.8) MeV/c2c^{2} and (51.8±20.0±18.8)(51.8\pm20.0 \pm 18.8) MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the Λc(2910)+Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} are measured to be B(Bˉ0→Λc(2910)+pˉ)×B(Λc(2910)+→Σc(2455)0π+)=(9.5±3.6±1.6)×10−6{\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times{\cal B}(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+}) = (9.5 \pm 3.6 \pm 1.6)\times 10^{-6} and B(Bˉ0→Λc(2910)+pˉ)×B(Λc(2910)+→Σc(2455)++π−)=(1.24±0.35±0.10)×10−5{\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λ_{c} (2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times {\cal B}(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-}) = (1.24 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.10)\times 10^{-5}. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

First Measurement of the Λc+→pη′Λ_c^+ \to p η' decay

We present the first measurement of the branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decay Λc+→pη′Λ_c^+ \to p η' with η′→ηπ+π−η' \to ηπ^+π^-, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 981 fb−1\rm fb^{-1}, collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e^{+}e−e^{-} asymmetric-energy collider. A significant Λc+Λ_c^+ signal is observed for the first time with a signal significance of 5.4σσ. The relative branching fraction with respect to the normalization mode Λc+→pK−π+Λ_c^+ \to pK^-π^+ is measured to be \begin{equation*} \frac{{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η')}{{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^-π^+)} = (7.54 \pm 1.32 \pm 0.75) \times 10^{-3}, \end{equation*} where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the world-average value of B(Λc+→pK−π+)=(6.28±0.32)×10−2{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^-π^+) = (6.28\pm0.32)\times10^{-2}, we obtain \begin{equation*} {\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η') = (4.73 \pm 0.82 \pm 0.47 \pm 0.24)\times 10^{-4}, \end{equation*} where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from B(Λc+→pK−π+){\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to pK^-π^+), respectively.

First test of Lepton Flavor Universality in the charmed baryon decays Ωc0→Ω−ℓ+νℓΩ^{0}_{c} \to Ω^{-} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell} using data of the Belle experiment

We present the first observation of the Ωc0→Ω−μ+νμΩ_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ decay and present measurements of the branching fraction ratios of the Ωc0→Ω−ℓ+νℓΩ_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell} decays compared to the reference mode Ωc0→Ω−π+Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} π^+, (ℓ=e\ell = e or μμ). This analysis is based on 89.5 fb−1^{-1}, 711 fb−1^{-1}, and 121.1 fb−1^{-1} data samples collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider at the center-of-mass energies of 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.86 GeV, respectively. The Ωc0Ω_{c}^{0} signal yields are extracted by fitting MΩ−ℓ+M_{Ω^{-} \ell^{+}} and MΩ−π+M_{Ω^{-}π^+} spectra. The branching fraction ratios B(Ωc0→Ω−e+νe)/B(Ωc0→Ω−π+){\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} π^+) and B(Ωc0→Ω−μ+νμ)/B(Ωc0→Ω−π+){\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} π^+) are measured to be 1.98±0.13 (stat.)±0.08 (syst.)1.98 \pm0.13~({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.08~({\rm syst.}) and 1.94±0.18 (stat.)±0.10 (syst.) 1.94 \pm 0.18~({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.10~({\rm syst.}), respectively. The ratio of B(Ωc0→Ω−e+νe)/B(Ωc0→Ω−μ+νμ){\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ) is measured to be 1.02±0.10 (stat.)±0.02 (syst.)1.02 \pm 0.10~({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.02~({\rm syst.}), which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality.

Measurement of the branching fraction and CPCP asymmetry for B→Dˉ0πB\to\bar{D}^{0} π decays

We measure the branching fractions and CPCP asymmetries for the decays B0→Dˉ0π0B^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{0} and B+→Dˉ0π+B^{+}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{+}, using a data sample of 772×106772\times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar{B} pairs collected at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e−e^{+}e^{-} collider. The branching fractions obtained and direct CPCP asymmetries are B(B0→Dˉ0π0)=[2.70±0.06 (stat.)±0.10 (syst.)]×10−4\mathcal{B}(B^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{0}) = [2.70 \pm 0.06~ \text{(stat.)} \pm 0.10~ \text{(syst.)}] \times 10^{-4}, B(B+→Dˉ0π+)=[4.53±0.02 (stat.)±0.15 (syst.)]×10−3\mathcal{B}(B^{+}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{+}) = [4.53 \pm 0.02~ \text{(stat.)} \pm 0.15~ \text{(syst.)}] \times 10^{-3}, ACP(B0→Dˉ0π0)=[+0.42±2.05 (stat.)±1.22 (syst.)]% {\cal A}_{CP}(B^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{0}) = [+0.42 \pm 2.05~ \text{(stat.)} \pm 1.22~ \text{(syst.)}]\%, and ACP(B+→Dˉ0π+)=[+0.19±0.36 (stat.)±0.57 (syst.)]% {\cal A}_{CP}(B^{+}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{+}) = [+0.19 \pm 0.36~ \text{(stat.)} \pm 0.57~ \text{(syst.)}]\%. The measurements of B\mathcal{B} are the most precise to date and are in good agreement with previous results, as is the measurement of ACP(B+→Dˉ0π+){\cal A}_{CP}(B^{+}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{+}). The measurement of ACP{\cal A}_{CP} for B0→Dˉ0π0B^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}π^{0} is the first for this mode, and the value is consistent with Standard Model expectations.

Measurement of the branching fractions of the B+→ηℓ+νℓB^+ \to η\ell^+ ν_{\ell} and B+→η′ℓ+νℓB^+ \to η^{\prime} \ell^+ ν_{\ell} decays with signal-side only reconstruction in the full q2q^2 range

The branching fractions of the decays B+→ηℓ+νℓB^{+} \to η\ell^{+} ν_{\ell} and B+→η′ℓ+νℓB^{+} \to η^{\prime} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell} are measured, where ℓ\ell is either an electron or a muon, using a data sample of 711 fb−1711\,{\rm fb}^{-1} containing 772×106BBˉ772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B} pairs collected at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+ e^- collider. To reduce the dependence of the result on the form factor model, the measurement is performed over the entire q2q^2 range. The resulting branching fractions are B(B+→ηℓ+νℓ)=(2.83±0.55(stat.)±0.34(syst.))×10−5{\cal B}(B^{+} \rightarrow η\ell^{+} ν_{\ell}) = (2.83 \pm 0.55_{\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.34_{\rm (syst.)}) \times 10^{-5} and B(B+→η′ℓ+νℓ)=(2.79±1.29(stat.)±0.30(syst.))×10−5{\cal B}(B^{+} \rightarrow η' \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}) = (2.79 \pm 1.29_{\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.30_{\rm (syst.)}) \times 10^{-5}.

Search for a light Higgs boson in single-photon decays of Υ(1S)Υ(1S) using Υ(2S)→π+π−Υ(1S)Υ(2S) \to π^+ π^- Υ(1S) tagging method

We search for a light Higgs boson (A0A^0) decaying into a τ+τ−τ^+τ^- or μ+μ−μ^+μ^- pair in the radiative decays of Υ(1S)Υ(1S). The production of Υ(1S)Υ(1S) mesons is tagged by Υ(2S)→π+π−Υ(1S)Υ(2S)\to π^+ π^- Υ(1S) transitions, using 158 million Υ(2S)Υ(2S) events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant A0A^0 signals in the mass range from the τ+τ−τ^+τ^- or μ+μ−μ^+μ^- threshold to 9.2 GeV/c2c^2 are observed. We set the upper limits at 90\% credibility level (C.L.) on the product branching fractions for Υ(1S)→γA0Υ(1S)\to γA^0 and A0→τ+τ−A^0\to τ^+τ^- varying from 3.8×10−63.8\times10^{-6} to 1.5×10−41.5\times10^{-4}. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the Υ(1S)→γA0(→τ+τ−)Υ(1S)\to γA^0(\to τ^+τ^-) production. For A0→μ+μ−A^0\to μ^+μ^-, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for Υ(1S)→γA0Υ(1S)\to γA^0 and A0→μ+μ−A^0\to μ^+μ^- are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from 3.1×10−73.1\times10^{-7} to 1.6×10−51.6\times10^{-5}. The upper limits at 90\% C.L. on the Yukawa coupling fΥ(1S)f_{Υ(1S)} and mixing angle sinθA0{\rm sin}θ_{A^0} are also given.

Search for charged lepton flavor violating decays of Υ(1S)Υ(1S)

We present a search for the charged lepton-flavor-violating decays Υ(1S)→ℓℓ′Υ(1S)\rightarrow\ell\ell^\prime and radiative charged lepton-flavour-violating decays Υ(1S)→γℓℓ′Υ(1S)\rightarrowγ\ell\ell^\prime [ℓ,ℓ′=e,μ,τ\ell,\ell^\prime = e, μ, τ] using the 158 million Υ(2S)Υ(2S) sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. This search uses Υ(1S)Υ(1S) mesons produced in π+π−Υ(1S)π^+π^-Υ(1S) transitions. We do not find any significant signal, so we provide upper limits on the branching fractions at the 90% confidence level.

A search for double-heavy tetraquark state candidates XccsˉsˉX_{cc\bar{s}\bar{s}} decaying to Ds+Ds+D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{+} and Ds∗+Ds∗+D_{s}^{*+} D_{s}^{*+} is presented for the first time using the data samples of 102 million Υ(1S)Υ(1S) and 158 million Υ(2S)Υ(2S) events, and the data samples at s\sqrt{s} = 10.52~GeV, 10.58~GeV, and 10.867~GeV corresponding to integrated luminosities of 89.5~fb−1^{-1}, 711.0~fb−1^{-1}, and 121.4~fb−1^{-1}, respectively, accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. Study of B‾0→D+h−(h=K/π)\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}h^{-} (h=K/π) decays at Belle

We present a measurement of the branching fractions of the Cabibbo favored B‾0→D+π−\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}π^{-} and the Cabibbo suppressed B‾0→D+K−\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}K^{-} decays. We find B(B‾0→D+π−)=(2.48±0.01±0.09±0.04)×10−3\mathcal{B}(\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}π^{-}) = (2.48 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.04) \times 10^{-3} and B(B‾0→D+K−)=(2.03±0.05±0.07±0.03)×10−4\mathcal{B}(\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}K^{-})= (2.03 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.03) \times 10^{-4} decays, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third uncertainty is due to the D+→K−π+π+D^{+} \rightarrow K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} branching fraction. The ratio of branching fractions of B‾0→D+K−\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}K^{-} and B‾0→D+π−\overline{B}{}^0\rightarrow D^{+}π^{-} is measured to be RD=[8.19±0.20(stat)±0.23(syst)]×10−2R^{D} = [8.19 \pm 0.20(\rm stat) \pm 0.23(\rm syst)] \times 10^{-2} . These measurements are performed using the full Belle data set, which corresponds to 772×106BB‾772 \times 10^{6} B\overline{B} pairs.

Measurements of the branching fractions of Ξc0→ΛKS0Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0, Ξc0→Σ0KS0Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0, and Ξc0→Σ+K−Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^- decays at Belle

Using the entire data sample of 980 fb−1980\mathrm{~fb}^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider, we present measurements of the branching fractions of the Cabibbo-favored decays Ξc0→ΛKS0Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0, Ξc0→Σ0KS0Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0, and Ξc0→Σ+K−Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-. Taking the decay $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- \pip$ as the normalization mode, we measure the branching fraction ratio B(Ξc0→ΛKS0)/B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=0.229±0.008±0.012{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.229\pm0.008\pm0.012 with improved precision, and measure the branching fraction ratios B(Ξc0→Σ0KS0)/B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=0.038±0.006±0.004{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.038\pm0.006\pm0.004 and B(Ξc0→Σ+K−)/B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=0.123±0.007±0.010{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.123\pm0.007\pm0.010 for the first time. Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be B(Ξc0→ΛKS0)=(3.27±0.11±0.17±0.73)×10−3{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}, B(Ξc0→Σ0KS0)=(0.54±0.09±0.06±0.12)×10−3{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}, and B(Ξc0→Σ+K−)=(1.76±0.10±0.14±0.39)×10−3{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}. The first and second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty of the branching fraction of Ξc0→Ξ−π+Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+.

Search for B0B^0 meson decays into ΛΛ and missing energy with a hadronic tagging method at Belle

We present a search for the decays of B0B^0 mesons into a final state containing a ΛΛ baryon and missing energy. These results are obtained from a 711fb−1711\text{fb}^{-1} data sample that contains 772×106772 \times 10^6 BB‾B{\kern 0.18em}\overline{\kern -0.18em B} pairs and was collected near the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider. We use events in which one BB meson is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode and require the remainder of the event to consist of only a single ΛΛ. No evidence for these decays is found and we set 90%90\% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions in the range 2.12.1-3.8×10−53.8\times 10^{-5}. This measurement provides the world's most restrictive limits, with implications for baryogenesis and dark matter production.

Dalitz analysis of D0→K−π+ηD^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+}η decays at Belle

We present the results of the first Dalitz plot analysis of the decay D0→K−π+ηD^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+}η. The analysis is performed on a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 953 fb−1\rm{fb}^{-1} collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+e−e^{+}e^{-} KEKB collider. The Dalitz plot is well described by a combination of the six resonant decay channels Kˉ∗(892)0η\bar{K}^{*}(892)^0η, K−a0(980)+K^{-}a_0(980)^+, K−a2(1320)+K^{-}a_2(1320)^+, Kˉ∗(1410)0η\bar{K}^{*}(1410)^0η, K∗(1680)−π+K^{*}(1680)^-π^{+} and K2∗(1980)−π+K_2^{*}(1980)^-π^{+}, together with KπKπ and KηKη S-wave components. The decays K∗(1680)−→K−ηK^{*}(1680)^{-}\to K^{-}η and K2∗(1980)−→K−ηK_{2}^{*}(1980)^{-}\to K^{-}η are observed for the first time. We measure ratio of the branching fractions, B(D0→K−π+η)B(D0→K−π+)=0.500±0.002(stat)±0.020(syst)±0.003(BPDG)\frac{\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+}η)}{\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\to K^{-}π^{+})}=0.500\pm0.002{\rm(stat)}\pm0.020{\rm(syst)}\pm0.003{\rm (\mathcal{B}_{PDG})}. Using the Dalitz fit result, the ratio B(K∗(1680)→Kη)B(K∗(1680)→Kπ)\frac{\mathcal{B}(K^{*}(1680)\to Kη)}{\mathcal{B}(K^{*}(1680)\to Kπ)} is measured to be 0.11±0.02(stat)−0.04+0.06(syst)±0.04(BPDG)0.11\pm0.02{\rm(stat)}^{+0.06}_{-0.04}{\rm(syst)}\pm0.04{\rm(\mathcal{B}_{\text{PDG}})}; this is much lower than the theoretical expectations (≈1\approx1) made under the assumption that K∗(1680)K^{*}(1680) is a pure 13D11^{3}D_1 state. Evidence for a vector charmonium-like state in e+e−→Ds+Ds2∗(2573)−+c.c.e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.

We report the measurement of e+e−→Ds+Ds2∗(2573)−+c.c.e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c. via initial-state radiation using a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 921.9 fb−1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) and nearby. We find evidence for an enhancement with a 3.4σσ significance in the invariant mass of Ds+Ds2∗(2573)−+c.c.D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^- +c.c. The measured mass and width are (4619.8−8.0+8.9(stat.)±2.3(syst.)) MeV/c2(4619.8^{+8.9}_{-8.0}({\rm stat.})\pm2.3({\rm syst.}))~{\rm MeV}/c^{2} and (47.0−14.8+31.3(stat.)±4.6(syst.)) MeV(47.0^{+31.3}_{-14.8}({\rm stat.})\pm4.6({\rm syst.}))~{\rm MeV}, respectively. Measurement of two-particle correlations in hadronic e+e−e^{+}e^{-} collisions at Belle

The enhancement of charged-particle pairs with large pseudorapidity difference and small azimuthal angle difference, often referred to as the ``ridge signal'', is a phenomenon widely observed in high multiplicity proton-proton, proton-ion and deutron-ion collisions, which is not yet fully understood. In heavy-ion collisions, the hydrodynamic expansion of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is one of the possible explanations of the origin of the ridge signal. Measurements in the e+e−e^+e^- collision system, without the complexities introduced by hadron structure in the initial state, can serve as a complementary probe to examine the formation of a ridge signal. The first measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high multiplicity e+e−e^+e^- collisions at s=10.52\sqrt{s}=10.52 GeV is reported. The hadronic e+e−e^+e^- annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used in this study. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured over the full azimuth and large pseudorapidity intervals which are defined by either the electron beam axis or the event thrust as a function of charged particle multiplicity. The measurement in the event thrust analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant ridge signal is observed with either coordinates analyses. Near side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low energy regime.

Search for the Decay Bs0→η′ηB_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η

In the Standard Model (SM) charmless hadronic decays Bs0→η′ηB_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η proceed via tree-level b→ub\to u and penguin b→sb\to s transitions. Penguin transitions are sensitive to Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) physics scenarios and could affect the branching fractions and {\it CP} asymmetries in such decays. Once branching fractions for two-body decays Bs→ηη,ηη′,η′η′B_s \to ηη, ηη^{\prime}, η^{\prime}η^{\prime} are measured, and the theoretical uncertainties are reduced, it would be possible to extract {\it CP} violating parameters from the data using the formalism based on SU(3)/U(3) symmetry. To achieve this goal, at least four of these six branching fractions need to be measured. Only the branching fraction for Bs0→η′η′B_s^0 \to η^{\prime}η^{\prime} has been measured so far.

Using the data sample of 711 fb−1^{-1} of Υ(4S)Υ(4S) on-resonance data taken by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider, we present the first measurements of branching fractions of the decays B−→Λˉc−Ξc′0B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{'0}, B−→Λˉc−Ξc(2645)0B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2645)^{0}, and B−→Λˉc−Ξc(2790)0B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2790)^{0} . Energy scan of the e+e−→hb(nP)π+π−e^+e^- \to h_b(nP)π^+π^- (n=1,2)(n=1,2) cross sections and evidence for Υ(11020)Υ(11020) decays into charged bottomonium-like states

Using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider, we measure the energy dependence of the e+e−→hb(nP)π+π−e^+e^- \to h_b(nP)π^+π^- (n=1,2)(n=1,2) cross sections from thresholds up to 11.02 11.02\,GeV. We find clear Υ(10860)Υ(10860) and Υ(11020)Υ(11020) peaks with little or no continuum contribution. We study the resonant substructure of the Υ(11020)→hb(nP)π+π−Υ(11020) \to h_b(nP)π^+π^- transitions and find evidence that they proceed entirely via the intermediate isovector states Zb(10610)Z_b(10610) and Zb(10650)Z_b(10650). The relative fraction of these states is loosely constrained by the current data: the hypothesis that only Zb(10610)Z_b(10610) is produced is excluded at the level of 3.3 standard deviations, while the hypothesis that only Zb(10650)Z_b(10650) is produced is not excluded at a significant level.

Search for XYZXYZ states in Υ(1S)Υ(1S) inclusive decays

The branching fractions of the Υ(1S)Υ(1S) inclusive decays into final states with a J/ψJ/ψ or a ψ(2S)ψ(2S) are measured with improved precision to be $\BR(Υ(1S)\to J/ψ+ {\rm anything})=(5.25\pm 0.13(\mathrm{stat.})\pm 0.25(\mathrm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and $\BR(Υ(1S)\to ψ(2S) + {\rm anything})=(1.23\pm 0.17(\mathrm{stat.})\pm 0.11(\mathrm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$. The first search for Υ(1S)Υ(1S) decays into XYZXYZ states that decay into a J/ψJ/ψ or a ψ(2S)ψ(2S) plus one or two charged tracks yields no significant signals for XYZXYZ states in any of the examined decay modes, and upper limits on their production rates in Υ(1S)Υ(1S) inclusive decays are determined.

Evidence for the decay B0->eta pi^0

We report a search for the charmless hadronic decay B0→ηπ0B^0\toηπ^0 with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 694 fb−1\rm fb^{-1} containing 753×106753\times10^6 BBˉB\bar{B} pairs. The data were collected by the Belle experiment running on the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance at the KEKB e+e−e^+e^- collider. We measure a branching fraction B(B0→ηπ0)=(4.1−1.5−0.7+1.7+0.5)×10−7\mathcal{B}(B^0\toηπ^0)=(4.1^{+1.7+0.5}_{-1.5-0.7})\times 10^{-7}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Our measurement gives an upper limit of B(B0→ηπ0)<6.5×10−7\mathcal{B}(B^0\toηπ^0)<6.5\times 10^{-7} at 90\% confidence level. The signal has a significance of 3.03.0 standard deviations and constitutes the first evidence for this decay mode.

Inclusive cross sections for pairs of identified light charged hadrons and for single protons in e+e−e^+e^- at s=\sqrt{s}= 10.58 GeV

We report the first double differential cross sections of two charged pions and kaons (e+e−→hhXe^+e^- \rightarrow hhX) in electron-positron annihilation as a function of the fractional energies of the two hadrons for any charge and hadron combination. The dependence of these di-hadron cross sections on the topology (same, opposite-hemisphere or anywhere) is also studied with the help of the event shape variable thrust and its axis. The ratios of these di-hadron cross sections for different charges and hadron combinations directly shed light on the contributing fragmentation functions. For example, we find that the ratio of same-sign pion pairs over opposite-sign pion pairs drops toward higher fractional energies where disfavored fragmentation is expected to be suppressed. These di-hadron results are obtained from a 655 fb−1655\,{\rm fb}^{-1} data sample collected near the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+ e^- collider. Extending the previously published single-pion and single-kaon cross sections, single-proton (e+e−→pXe^+e^- \rightarrow pX) cross sections are extracted from a 159 fb−1159\,{\rm fb}^{-1} data sub-sample.

Observation of e+e−→π+π−π0χbJe^+e^- \to π^+ π^- π^0 χ_{bJ} and search for Xb→ωΥ(1S)X_b \to ωΥ(1S) at s∼10.867\sqrt{s}\sim 10.867 GeV

The e+e−→π+π−π0χbJe^+e^- \to π^+ π^- π^0 χ_{bJ} (J=0, 1, 2J=0,~1,~2) processes are studied using a 118~fb−1^{-1} data sample collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.867 GeV, in the Υ(10860)Υ(10860) energy range, with the Belle detector. The π+π−π0χb1π^+ π^- π^0 χ_{b1}, π+π−π0χb2π^+π^-π^0χ_{b2}, ωχb1ωχ_{b1} signals and the evidence of ωχb2ωχ_{b2} are observed for the first time and the cross sections are measured. No significant π+π−π0χb0π^+π^-π^0χ_{b0} or ωχb0ωχ_{b0} signal is observed and 90\% confidence level upper limits on the cross sections for these two processes are obtained. In the π+π−π0π^+π^-π^0 invariant mass spectrum, significant non-ωω signals are also observed. We search for the X(3872)X(3872)-like state with a hidden bbˉb\bar{b} component (named XbX_b) decaying into ωΥ(1S)ωΥ(1S); no significant signal is observed with a mass between 10.5510.55 and 10.6510.65 GeV/c2c^2.

Observation of a new charged charmoniumlike state in B -> J/psi K pi decays

We present the results of an amplitude analysis of anti-B0 -> J/psi K- pi+ decays. A new charged charmoniumlike state Zc(4200)+ decaying to J/psi pi+ is observed with a significance of 6.2 sigma. The mass and width of the Zc(4200)+ are 4196 +31-29 +17-13 MeV/c^2 and 370 +70-70 +70-132 MeV, respectively; the preferred assignment of the quantum numbers is J^P = 1^+. In addition, we find evidence for Zc(4430)+ -> J/psi pi+. The analysis is based on a 711 fb^-1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider KEKB.

Search for Bs0→γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrowγγ and a measurement of the branching fraction for Bs0→ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrowϕγ

We search for the decay Bs0→γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrowγγ and measure the branching fraction for Bs0→ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrowϕγ using 121.4~fb−1\textrm{fb}^{-1} of data collected at the Υ(5S)Υ(\mathrm{5}S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^{+}e^{-} collider. The Bs0→ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrowϕγ branching fraction is measured to be (3.6±0.5(stat.)±0.3(syst.)±0.6(fs))×10−5(3.6 \pm 0.5 (\mathrm{stat.}) \pm 0.3 (\mathrm{syst.}) \pm 0.6 (f_{s})) \times 10^{-5}, where fsf_{s} is the fraction of Bs(∗)Bˉs(∗)B_{s}^{(*)}\bar{B}_{s}^{(*)} in bbˉb\bar{b} events. Our result is in good agreement with the theoretical predictions as well as with a recent measurement from LHCb. We observe no statistically significant signal for the decay Bs0→γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrowγγ and set a 90%90\% confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction at 3.1×10−6 3.1 \times 10^{-6}. This constitutes a significant improvement over the previous result.

The cross sections of the processes e+e−→K+K−J/ψe^+ e^- \to K^+ K^- J/ψ and KS0KS0J/ψK_S^0K_S^0J/ψ are measured via initial state radiation at center-of-mass energies between the threshold and 6.0~GeV using a data sample of 980~fb−1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector on or near the Υ(nS)Υ(nS) resonances, where n=n=1, 2, ..., 5. The cross sections for e+e−→K+K−J/ψe^+ e^- \to K^+ K^- J/ψ are at a few pb level and the average cross section for e+e−→KS0KS0J/ψe^+ e^- \to K_S^0K_S^0J/ψ is 1.8±0.6(stat.)±0.3(syst.)1.8\pm 0.6 (\rm stat.)\pm 0.3 (\rm syst.)~pb between 4.4 and 5.2~GeV. Measurement of Branching Fraction and First Evidence of CP Violation in B0 --> a1+-(1260) pi-+ Decays

We present a measurement of the branching fraction and time-dependent CP violation parameters in B0 --> a_1^+-(1260) pi^-+ decays. The results are obtained from the final data sample containing 772x10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. We also measure an upper limit on the product branching fraction for a possible decay with the same final state B0 --> a_2^+-(1320) pi^-+. In a time-dependent measurement to extract CP asymmetries, we find evidence of mixing-induced CP violation in B0 --> a_1^+-(1260) pi^-+ decays with a 3.1 sigma significance and the rate where the a_1^+-(1260) does not contain the spectator quark is found to dominate the rate where it does at the 4.1 sigma level. However, there is no evidence for either time and flavor integrated direct CP violation or flavor-dependent direct CP violation.

Measurements of inclusive differential cross sections for charged pion and kaon production in electron-positron annihilation have been carried out at a center-of-mass energy of Q = 10.52 GeV. The measurements were performed with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider using a data sample containing 113 million e+e- -> qqbar events, where q={u,d,s,c}. We present charge-integrated differential cross sections dσ_h+-/dz for h+- = pi+-, K+- as a function of the relative hadron energy z = 2*E_h / sqrt{s} from 0.2 to 0.98. The combined statistical and systematic uncertainties for pi+- (K+-) are 4% (4%) at z ~ 0.6 and 15% (24%) at z ~ 0.9. The cross sections are the first measurements of the z-dependence of pion and kaon production for z > 0.7 as well as the first precision cross section measurements at a center-of-mass energy far below the Z^0 resonance used by the experiments at LEP and SLC.

Search for Bottomonium States in Exclusive Radiative Upsilon(2S) Decays

We search for bottomonium states in Upsilon(2S)-> (bb-bar) gamma decays with an integrated luminosity of 24.7fb^-1 recorded at the Upsilon(2S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEK, containing (157.8+-3.6) X 10^6 Upsilon(2S) events. The (bb-bar) system is reconstructed in 26 exclusive hadronic final states composed of charged pions, kaons, protons, and K^0_S mesons. We find no evidence for the state recently observed around 9975 MeV (X_(bb-bar)) in an analysis based on a data sample of 9.3 X 10^6 Upsilon(2S) events collected with the CLEO III detector. We set a 90 % confidence-level upper limit on the branching fraction B[Upsilon(2S)-> X_(bb-bar) gamma] X \sum_i{B[X_(bb-bar)-> h_i]}< 4.9 X 10^-6, summed over the exclusive hadronic final states employed in our analysis. This result is an order of magnitude smaller than the measurement reported with CLEO data. We also set an upper limit for the eta_b(1S) state of B[Upsilon(2S)-> eta_b(1S) gamma] X \sum_i{B[eta_b(1S)-> h_i]}< 3.7 X 10^-6.

Study of e+e−→π+π−J/ψe^+ e^- \to π^+ π^- J/ψ and Observation of a Charged Charmonium-like State at Belle

The cross section for e+e−→π+π−J/ψe^+ e^- \to π^+ π^- J/ψ between 3.8 GeV and 5.5 GeV is measured with a 967 fb−1^{-1} data sample collected by the Belle detector at or near the Υ(nS)Υ(nS) (n=1, 2, ..., 5n = 1,\ 2,\ ...,\ 5) resonances. The Y(4260) state is observed, and its resonance parameters are determined. In addition, an excess of π+π−J/ψπ^+ π^- J/ψ production around 4 GeV is observed. This feature can be described by a Breit-Wigner parameterization with properties that are consistent with the Y(4008) state that was previously reported by Belle. In a study of Y(4260)→π+π−J/ψY(4260) \to π^+ π^- J/ψ decays, a structure is observed in the $M(π^\pm\jpsi)$ mass spectrum with 5.2σ5.2σ significance, with mass M=(3894.5±6.6±4.5)MeV/c2M=(3894.5\pm 6.6\pm 4.5) {\rm MeV}/c^2 and width Γ=(63±24±26)Γ=(63\pm 24\pm 26) MeV/c2c^{2}, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. This structure can be interpreted as a new charged charmonium-like state.

Study of Exclusive B->X_u l nu Decays and Extraction of |V_{ub}| using Full Reconstruction Tagging at the Belle Experiment

We report the results of a study of the exclusive semileptonic decays B->pi0lnu, B->pi+lnu, B->rho0lnu, B->rho+lnu and B->omegalnu, where l represents an electron or a muon. The events are tagged by fully reconstructing a second B meson in the event in a hadronic decay mode. The measured branching fractions are Br(B->pi0lnu) = (0.80 +- 0.08 +- 0.04)x10^-4, Br(B->pi+lnu) = (1.49 +- 0.09 +- 0.07)x10^-4, Br(B->rho0lnu) = (1.83 +- 0.10 +- 0.10)x10^-4, Br(B->rho+lnu) = (3.22 +- 0.27 +- 0.24)x10^-4, and Br(B->omegalnu) =(1.07 +- 0.16 +- 0.07)x10^-4, where the first error is statistical and the second one is systematic. The obtained branching fractions are inclusive of soft photon emission. We also determine the branching fractions as a function of the 4-momentum transfer squared to the leptonic system q^2=(p_l+p_nu)^2, where p_l and p_nu are the lepton and neutrino 4-momenta, respectively. Using the pion modes, a recent LCSR calculation, lattice QCD results and a model-independent description of the hadronic form factor, a value of the CKM matrix element |V_{ub}| = (3.52 +- 0.29)x10^-3 is extracted. For the first time, a charmless state with invariant mass greater than 1 GeV/c^2, which might be dominated by the decay B->f2lnu, is observed. These results are obtained from a 711 1/fb data sample that contains 772 millions BB pairs, collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+ e^- collider.

We present the first measurement of the angle phi_3 of the Unitarity Triangle using a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B->DK, D->KsPiPi decays. The method uses an input measurements of the strong phase of the D->KsPiPi amplitude from the CLEO collaboration. The result is based on the full data set of 772x10^6 BBbar pairs collected by the Belle experiment at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We obtain phi_3 = (77.3^{+15.1}_{-14.9} +- 4.1 +- 4.3)^{\circ} and the suppressed amplitude ratio r_B = 0.145 +- 0.030 +- 0.010 +- 0.011. Here the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third is the error due to the precision of the strong-phase parameters obtained by CLEO.

Signals are observed for the first time in the Υ(1S)→ϕK+K−Υ(1S) \to ϕK^+ K^-, ωπ+π−ωπ^+ π^-, K∗0K−π+K^{\ast 0} K^- π^+, K∗0K2∗0K^{\ast0} K_2^{\ast 0} and Υ(2S)→ϕK+K−Υ(2S) \to ϕK^+ K^-, K∗0K−π+K^{\ast 0} K^- π^+ decay modes. Branching fractions are determined for all the processes, while 90% confidence level upper limits are established on the branching fractions for the modes with a statistical significance less than 3σ3σ. The ratios of the branching fractions of Υ(2S)Υ(2S) and Υ(1S)Υ(1S) decays into the same final state are used to test a perturbative QCD prediction for OZI suppressed bottomonium decays.

First study of η_c, η(1760) and X(1835) production via η'π^+π^- final states in two-photon collisions

The invariant mass spectrum of the η' π^+ π^- final state produced in two-photon collisions is obtained using a 673 fb^{-1} data sample collected in the vicinity of the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. We observe a clear signal of the η_c and measure its mass and width to be M(η_c)=(2982.7 +- 1.8(stat) +- 2.2(syst) +- 0.3(model)) MeV/c^2 and Γ(η_c) = (37.8^{+5.8}_{-5.3}(stat) +- 2.8(syst) +- 1.4(model)) MeV/c^2. The third error is an uncertainty due to possible interference between the η_c and a non-resonant component. We also report the first evidence for η(1760) decay to η' π^+ π^-; we find two solutions for its parameters, depending on the inclusion or not of the X(1835), whose existence is of marginal significance in our data. From a fit to the mass spectrum using coherent X(1835) and η(1760) resonant amplitudes, we set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the product Γ_{γγ} \BR (η' π^+ π^-) for the X(1835).

Measurement of the CP-violation Parameter sin2ϕ1ϕ_1 with a New Tagging Method at the Υ(5S)Υ(5S) Resonance

We report a measurement of the CP-violation parameter sin2ϕ1ϕ_1 at the Υ(5S)Υ(5S) resonance using a new tagging method, called "BB-ππ tagging." In Υ(5S)Υ(5S) decays containing a neutral BB meson, a charged BB, and a charged pion, the neutral BB is reconstructed in the J/ψKS0J/ψK_S^0 CP-eigenstate decay channel. The initial flavor of the neutral BB meson at the moment of the Υ(5S)Υ(5S) decay is opposite to that of the charged BB and may thus be inferred from the charge of the pion without reconstructing the charged BB. From the asymmetry between BB-π+π^+ and BB-π−π^- tagged J/ψKS0J/ψK_S^0 yields, we determine sin2ϕ1ϕ_1 = 0.57 ±\pm 0.58(stat) ±\pm 0.06(syst). The results are based on 121 fb−1^{-1} of data recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e−e^+ e^- collider.

Observation of ψ(4040) and ψ(4160) decay into ηJ/ψ

The cross section for e^+e^- \to ηJ/ψbetween \sqrt{s}=3.8 GeV/c^2 and 5.3 GeV/c^2 is measured via initial state radiation using 980 fb^{-1} of data on and around the Υ(nS)(n=1,2,3,4,5) resonances collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. Two resonant structures at the ψ(4040) and ψ(4160) are observed in the ηJ/ψinvariant mass distribution. Fitting the mass spectrum with the coherent sum of two Breit-Wigner functions, one obtains BR(ψ(4040)\toηJ/ψ)\cdotΓ_{ee}^{ψ(4040)} = (4.8\pm0.9\pm1.4) eV and BR(ψ(4160)\toηJ/ψ)\cdotΓ_{ee}^{ψ(4160)} = (4.0\pm0.8\pm1.4) eV for one solution and BR(ψ(4040)\toηJ/ψ)\cdotΓ_{ee}^{ψ(4040)} = (11.2\pm1.3\pm1.9) eV and BR(ψ(4160)\toηJ/ψ)\cdotΓ_{ee}^{ψ(4160)} = (13.8\pm1.3\pm2.0) eV for the other solution, where the first errors are statistical and the second are systematic. This is the first measurement of this hadronic transition mode of these two states, and the partial widths to ηJ/ψare found to be about 1 MeV. We measure the eta_b(1S) mass to be (9401.0+-1.9+1.4-2.4)MeV/c^2 with a width of (12.4+5.5-4.6+11.5-3.4)MeV and a decay branching fraction of BF[h_b(1P)->eta_b(1S)gamma]=(49.8+-6.8+10.9-5.2)%. The measured eta_b(1S) mass corresponds to a hyperfine splitting of (59.3+-1.9+2.4-1.4)MeV/c^2. This value deviates significantly from the current world average obtained from measurements of Upsilon(3S)->eta_b(1S)gamma and Upsilon(2S)->eta_b(1S)gamma reactions. We also report updated results for the h_b(1P) mass (9899.0+-0.4+-1.0)MeV/c^2 and its hyperfine splitting (0.8+-1.1)MeV/c^2. These measurements are performed using a 121.4fb^-1 data sample collected at the peak of the Upsilon(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.

Observation of two charged bottomonium-like resonances

We report the observation of two narrow structures at 10610MeV/c^2 and 10650MeV/c^2 in the pi^{\pm}Upsilon(nS) (n=1,2,3) and pi^{\pm}h_b(mP) (m=1,2) mass spectra that are produced in association with a single charged pion in Upsilon(5S) decays. The measured masses and widths of the two structures averaged over the five final states are M_1=10608.4\pm2.0MeV/c^2, Gamma_1=15.6\pm2.5MeV and M_2=10653.2\pm1.5MeV/c^2, Gamma_2=14.4\pm3.2MeV. Analysis favors quantum numbers of I^G(J^P)=1^+(1^+) for both states. The results are obtained with a 121.4fb^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector near the Upsilon(5S) resonance, at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.

Using a sample of 158 million Υ(2S) events collected with the Belle detector, charmonium and charmonium-like states with even charge parity are searched for in Υ(2S) radiative decays. No significant χ_{cJ} or η_c signal is observed and the following upper limits at 90% confidence level (C.L.) are obtained: BR(Υ(2S)\to γχ_{c0})< 1.0 \times 10^{-4}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γχ_{c1})<3.6 \times 10^{-6}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γχ_{c2})<1.5 \times 10^{-5}, and BR(Υ(2S) \to γη_c)< 2.7 \times 10^{-5}. No significant signal of any charmonium-like state is observed, and we obtain the limits \BR(Υ(2S)\to γX(3872))\times\BR(X(3872)\toπ^+π^-J/ψ)< 0.8 \times 10^{-6}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γX(3872))\times BR(X(3872)\toπ^+π^-π^0 J/ψ)< 2.4\times 10^{-6}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γX(3915))\times BR(X(3915)\toωJ/ψ)< 2.8\times 10^{-6}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γY(4140))\times BR(Y(4140)\toϕJ/ψ)) < 1.2\times 10^{-6}, and BR(Υ(2S) \to γX(4350))\times BR(X(4350)\toϕJ/ψ))< 1.3\times 10^{-6} at 90% C.L.

Search for CP Violation in D Meson Decays to phi pi+

We search for CP violation in Cabibbo-suppressed charged D meson decays by measuring the difference between the CP violating asymmetries for the Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+ -> K+K-pi+ and the Cabibbo-favored decays Ds -> K+K-pi+ in the K+K- mass region of the phi resonance. Using 955/fb of data collected with the Belle detector we obtain A_CP(D+ -> phi pi+) = (+0.51 +- 0.28 +- 0.05)%. The measurement improves the sensitivity of previous searches by more than a factor of five. We find no evidence for direct CP violation.

Study of B^{+-} -> K^{+-}(K_S K pi)^0 Decay and Determination of eta_c and eta_c(2S) Parameters

We report the results of a study of B±→K±ηcB^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c and B±→K±ηc(2S)B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c(2S) decays followed by ηcη_c and ηc(2S)η_c(2S) decays to (KSKπ)0(K_SKπ)^0. The results are obtained from a data sample containing 535 million BBˉB\bar{B}-meson pairs collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+e−e^+e^- collider. We measure the products of the branching fractions B(B±→K±ηc)B(ηc→KSK±π∓)=(26.7±1.4(stat)−2.6+2.9(syst)±4.9(model))×10−6{\mathcal B}(B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c){\mathcal B}(η_c\to K_S K^{\pm}π^{\mp})=(26.7\pm 1.4(stat)^{+2.9}_{-2.6}(syst)\pm 4.9(model))\times 10^{-6} and B(B±→K±ηc(2S))B(ηc(2S)→KSK±π∓)=(3.4−1.5+2.2(stat+model)−0.4+0.5syst))×10−6{\mathcal B}(B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c(2S)){\mathcal B}(η_c(2S)\to K_S K^{\pm}π^{\mp})=(3.4^{+2.2}_{-1.5}(stat+model)^{+0.5}_{-0.4} syst))\times 10^{-6}. Interference with the non-resonant component leads to significant model uncertainty in the measurement of these product branching fractions. Our analysis accounts for this interference and allows the model uncertainty to be reduced. We also obtain the following charmonia masses and widths: M(ηc)=(2985.4±1.5(stat)−2.0+0.5(syst))M(η_c)=(2985.4\pm 1.5(stat)^{+0.5}_{-2.0}(syst)) MeV/c2c^2, Γ(ηc)=(35.1±3.1(stat)−1.6+1.0(syst))Γ(η_c)=(35.1\pm 3.1(stat)^{+1.0}_{-1.6}(syst)) MeV/c2c^2, M(ηc(2S))=(3636.1−4.2+3.9(stat+model)−2.0+0.7(syst))M(η_c(2S))=(3636.1^{+3.9}_{-4.2}(stat+model)^{+0.7}_{-2.0}(syst)) MeV/c2c^2, Γ(ηc(2S))=(6.6−5.1+8.4(stat+model)−0.9+2.6(syst))Γ(η_c(2S))=(6.6^{+8.4}_{-5.1}(stat+model)^{+2.6}_{-0.9}(syst)) MeV/c2c^2.

Measurement of CP violating asymmetries in B^0 -> K^+K^- K^0_S decays with a time-dependent Dalitz approach

We report a measurement of CPCP violating asymmetries in B0(B‾0)→K+K−KS0B^0(\overline{B}^0) \to K^+ K^- K^0_S decays with a time-dependent Dalitz approach. This analysis is based on a data sample of 657×106657\times 10^6 BB‾B\overline{B} pairs accumulated at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider. As the result of an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the selected candidates, the mixing-induced and direct CPCP violation parameters, ϕ1effϕ^{\rm eff}_1 and ACP{\cal A}_{CP} are obtained for B0→ϕ(1020)KS0B^0 \to ϕ(1020) K^0_S, B0→f0(980)KS0B^0 \to f_0(980) K^0_S and other B0→K+K−KS0B^0 \to K^+ K^- K^0_S decays. We find four solutions that describe the data. There are \{eqnarray*} ϕ_1^{\rm eff}(B^0\to ϕ(1020) K^0_S) & = & (32.2 \pm 9.0 \pm 2.6 \pm 1.4)^{\circ}; ϕ_1^{\rm eff}(B^0\to ϕ(1020) K^0_S) & = & (26.2 \pm 8.8 \pm 2.7 \pm 1.2)^{\circ};\\ ϕ_1^{\rm eff}(B^0\to ϕ(1020) K^0_S) & = & (27.3 \pm 8.6 \pm 2.8 \pm 1.3)^{\circ}\; {\rm and}\\ ϕ_1^{\rm eff}(B^0\to ϕ(1020) K^0_S) & = & (24.3 \pm 8.0 \pm 2.9 \pm 5.2)^{\circ}.{eqnarray*}\ The values for the CPCP violating phase in B0→ϕ(1020)KS0B^0\to ϕ(1020) K^0_S are similar but other properties of the Dalitz plot are quite different for the four solutions. These four solutions have consistent ϕ1effϕ^{\rm eff}_1 values for all three BB meson decay channels and none of them deviates significantly from the values measured in B→(ccˉ)K0B \to (c\bar{c}) K^0 decays with the currently available statistics. In addition, we find no significant direct CPCP violation.

Updated Measurement of phi_3 with a Dalitz Plot Analysis of B->D(*)K Decay

We present an updated measurement of the unitarity triangle angle phi_3 using a Dalitz plot analysis of the K^0_S pi+ pi- decay of the neutral D meson produced in B+- ->D(*)K+- decays. The method exploits the interference between D^0 and Dbar^0 to extract the angle phi_3, strong phase delta and the ratio r of suppressed and allowed amplitudes. We apply this method to a 605 fb-1 data sample collected by the Belle experiment. The analysis uses two modes: B+- -> DK+-, and B+- -> D*K+- with D* -> D pi0, as well as the corresponding charge-conjugate modes. From a combined maximum likelihood fit to the two modes, we obtain phi_3=76+12-13(stat)+-4(syst)+-9(model). The statistical significance of CP violation (phi_3\neq 0) in our measurement is (1-5.5*10^{-4}), or 3.5 standard deviations. These results are preliminary.

The branching fractions for these decay modes are measured to be B(B±→ϕϕK±)=(3.2−0.5+0.6±0.3)×10−6\mathcal{B}(B^{\pm} \to ϕϕK^{\pm}) = (3.2^{+0.6}_{-0.5} \pm 0.3) \times 10^{-6} and B(B0→ϕϕK0)=(2.3−0.7+1.0±0.2)×10−6\mathcal{B}(B^{0} \to ϕϕK^{0}) = (2.3^{+1.0}_{-0.7} \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-6} for ϕϕϕϕ invariant mass below 2.85 GeV/c2c^2. The corresponding partial rate asymmetry for the charged BB mode is measured to be ACP(B±→ϕϕK±)=0.01−0.16+0.19±0.02\mathcal{A}_{CP}(B^\pm\to ϕϕK^\pm) = 0.01^{+ 0.19}_{-0.16}\pm 0.02. Results for other related charmonium decay modes are also reported. We also search for CP asymmetry using the ϕϕϕϕ candidates within the ηcη_c mass region. The value obtained is ACP(B±→ϕϕK±,Mϕϕ≈Mηc)=0.15−0.17+0.16±0.02\mathcal{A}_{CP}(B^\pm \to ϕϕK^\pm, M_{ϕϕ} \approx M_{η_c})= 0.15^{+0.16}_{-0.17} \pm 0.02, which is consistent with no asymmetry.

Study of the Y (4260) resonance in e+e- collisions with initial state radiation at Belle

We present a study of Y(4260) properties using the initial-state radiation process e^+e^- -> gamma_{ISR} Y(4260). The Y(4260) resonance is reconstructed in the pi^+ pi^- J/ψdecay mode, using data collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e^+e^- collider. We find a significant signal with a central mass value of (4295 +-10 +10 -3) MeV/c^2 and a width of (133 +-26 +13 -6) MeV/c^2. We find Gamma_{ee}.B(Y(4260) -> pi^+ pi^- J/ψ) = (8.7 +- 1.1 +0.3 -0.9) eV. These results are preliminary.

Evidence for the decay Υ(4S)→Υ(1S)π+π−Υ(4S) \to Υ(1S) π^{+} π^{-}

A study of transitions between ΥΥ states with the emission of charged pions using 398 fb−1^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+e−e^+e^- collider is presented. A clear peak from the decay Υ(1S)→μ+μ−Υ(1S)\toμ^+μ^- is observed in the invariant mass distribution of (μ+μ−)(μ^+ μ^-) pairs from the (μ+μ−π+π−X)(μ^+ μ^- π^+ π^- X) event sample. The mass difference distribution (Mμ+μ−π+π−−Mμ+μ−M_{μ^+μ^-π^+π^-}-M_{μ^+μ^-}) for Mμ+μ−M_{μ^+μ^-} from the Υ(1S)Υ(1S) mass region has two peaks from Υ(2S,3S)→Υ(1S)π+π−Υ(2S,3S)\to Υ(1S)π^+π^- decays, with no background. A third peak at ΔM=(1119.0±1.4)ΔM = (1119.0\pm 1.4)~MeV/c2c^2 can be interpreted as evidence of a signal from the decay Υ(4S)→Υ(1S)π+π−Υ(4S)\to Υ(1S)π^+π^- with a subsequent Υ(1S)→μ+μ− Υ(1S) \to μ^+ μ^- transition. This is the first example of a non-BBˉB \bar{B} decay of the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance. The preliminary estimated branching fraction is equal to B(Υ(4S)→Υ(1S)π+π−)=(1.1±0.2(stat.)±0.4(sys.))×10−4.\mathcal{B}(Υ(4S)\to Υ(1S)π^+π^-) = (1.1 \pm 0.2(\mathrm{stat.}) \pm 0.4(\mathrm{sys.}))\times 10^{-4}.

Hadronic Mass Moments in B -> X_c l nu Decays

We report measurements of the first and second moments of the hadronic invariant mass squared distribution, <M^2_X> and <(M^2_X-<M^2_X>)^2>, in B -> X_c l nu decays for minimum lepton momenta ranging from 0.7 to 1.5 GeV/c in the B meson rest frame. The measurement uses BBbar events in which the hadronic decay of one B meson is fully reconstructed and the semileptonic decay of the other B is inferred from the presence of an identified lepton. These results are obtained from a 140 fb^-1 data sample collected near the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e^+e^- collider.

Measurement of D0 -> pilnu (Klnu) and their form factors

Using a data sample of 282 1/fb collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+e- collider, we study D0 -> pilnu and D0 -> Klnu decays (l = mu,e) in e+e- annihilation. We identify D* -> D0pi decays by using the mass of the system recoiling against a fully reconstructed tag-side D* or D meson, allowing for additional primary mesons from fragmentation. Using a novel global reconstruction method that provides very good resolution in neutrino momentum and in q^2 = (p_l+p_nu)^2, we reconstructed D0 -> pilnu and D0 -> Klnu decays. From these events we measured the branching fraction ratios BR(D0 -> pienu)/BR(D0 -> Kenu) = 0.0809 +- 0.0080 +- 0.0032$ and BR(D0 -> pimunu)/BR(D0 -> Kmunu) = 0.0677 +- 0.0078 +- 0.0047, and the semileptonic form factor ratio f+(D0 -> pilnu})^2/f+(D0 -> Klnu})^2|Vcd|^2/|Vcs|^2|_{q^2=0} = 0.041 +- 0.003 +- 0.004, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Moments of the photon energy spectrum from B→XsγB\to X_s γ decays measured by Belle

We report preliminary measurements of the first (mean) and second moment (variance) of the inclusive photon energy spectrum in B→XsγB\to X_sγ decays, for threshold values of the photon energy in the range 1.8--2.3 GeV as measured in the rest frame of the BB-meson. These results are obtained from the Belle measurement of the spectrum, which used a data set consisting of 152 million BBˉB\bar{B} pairs collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider operated on the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance.

Measurement of phi_3 with Dalitz Plot Analysis of B->D(*)K Decay

We present a measurement of the unitarity triangle angle phi_3 using a Dalitz plot analysis of the three-body decay of the neutral D meson from the B->D(*)K process. The method employs the interference between D0 and D0bar to extract both the weak and strong phases. We apply this method to a 140 fb^{-1} data sample collected by the Belle experiment. The analysis uses the modes B->DK and B->D*K, D*->D pi0, where the neutral D meson decays into K_Spi+pi-. We obtain 146 signal candidates for B->DK and 39 candidates for B->D*K. From a combined maximum likelihood fit to the B->DK and B->D*K modes, we obtain phi_3=77^{\circ}^{+17}_{-19}(stat)+-13^{\circ}(syst)}+-11^{\circ}(model). The corresponding two standard deviation interval is 26^{\circ}<phi_3<126^{\circ}.

Moments of the Hadronic Mass Spectrum in Inclusive Semileptonic B Decays at Belle

We report a measurement of the first and second moment of the hadronic mass distribution M_X in B -> X_c l nu decays for lepton threshold momenta ranging from 0.9 to 1.6 GeV/c in the center of mass frame. The measurement uses B Bbar events in which the hadronic decay of one B meson is fully reconstructed and a charged lepton from the decay of the other B meson is identified. These results are obtained from a 140 fb^-1 data sample collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e^+ e^- collider.

Evidence for B^+ -> omega l^+ nu

We have searched for the decay B^+ -> omega l^+ nu in 78 fb^-1 of Y(4S) data (85.0 million BBbar events) accumulated with the Belle detector. The final state is fully reconstructed using the omega decay into pi^+ pi^- pi^0 and detector hermeticity to estimate the neutrino momentum. 155 +/- 47 signal events are found in the data, corresponding to a branching fraction of (1.3 +/- 0.4 +/- 0.2 +/- 0.3) x 10^-4, where the first two errors are statistical and systematic. The third error is due to the estimated form-factor uncertainty. (This result is preliminary.)

Measurement of the angle ϕ_3 with Dalitz analysis of three-body D^0 decay from B\to D^0 K process

A new method to measure the angle ϕ3ϕ_3 of the CKM unitarity triangle using a Dalitz analysis of the three-body decay of the D0D^0 meson from the B→D0KB\to D^0 K process has been introduced recently. The method employs the interference between D0D^0 and D0ˉ\bar{D^0} to extract both the weak and strong phases. We present a study of statistical and systematic errors of this method using Monte Carlo simulation. A fit of the D0D^0 Dalitz distribution has been performed based on a 140 fb−1^{-1} sample collected by the Belle detector. We observe the indication of a CP asymmetry with the significance of 2.4 standard deviations. The 90% confidence interval obtained for the ϕ3ϕ_3 value is 61∘<ϕ3<142∘61^{\circ}<ϕ_3<142^{\circ}.

Precise Measurement of B Meson Lifetimes with Hadronic Decay Final States

The lifetimes of the B0bar and B- mesons are extracted from 29.1/fb of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEK B-factory. A fit to the decay length differences of neutral and charged B meson pairs, measured in events where one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed in several hadronic modes, yields tau_B0bar = 1.554 +/- 0.030(stat) +/- 0.019(syst) ps, tau_B- = 1.695 +/- 0.026(stat) +/- 0.015(syst) ps, and tau_B-/tau_B0bar = 1.091 +/- 0.023(stat) +/- 0.014(syst).

Observation of B->J/psi K1(1270)

We report the first observation of the exclusive decay process B->J/psi K1(1270) using a sample of 11.2M BBbar meson pairs collected in the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e- collider. We measure branching fractions of Bf(B0 -> J/psi K10(1270) = (1.30 +-0.34 +-0.31)x10^-3 and Bf(B+ -> J/psi K1+(1270) = (1.80 +-0.34 +-0.39)x10-3, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. These modes constitute approximately 15% of the total number of B -> J/psiX decays. No evidence is seen for B -> J/psi K1(1400) and we set an upper limit on this branching fraction. The K1(1270) -> K0pi+pi- decays have a substantial K0rho0 intermediate state component that may be useful for CP violation studies.

Observation of Cabibbo-suppressed and W-exchange Lambda_c^+ baryon decays

We present measurements of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays Lambda_c^+ --> Lambda0 K+ and Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma0 K+ (both first observations), Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ pi- (seen with large statistics for the first time), Lambda_c^+ --> p K+ K- and Lambda_c^+ --> p phi (measured with improved accuracy). Improved branching ratio measurements for the decays Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ K- and Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ phi, which are attributed to W-exchange diagrams, are shown. We also present the first evidence for Lambda_c^+ --> Xi(1690)^0 K+ and set an upper limit on the non-resonant decay Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ K-. This analysis was performed using 32.6 fb^{-1} of data collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric e+ e- collider KEKB.
