Anisotropy of the magnetic and transport properties in EuZn$_2$As$_2$

Several recent studies have shown that the anisotropy in the magnetic structure of \ECA\ plays a significant role in stabilizing the Weyl nodes. To investigate the relationship between magnetic anisotropy and Weyl physics, we present a comparative study between EuZn$_2$As$_2$ and EuCd$_2$As$_2$ that are isostructural but with different magnetic anisotropy. We performed structural analysis, electronic transport, and magnetization experiments on millimeter-sized single crystals of EuZn$_2$As$_2$, and compared the results to those of EuCd$_2$As$_2$. By combining the first principle calculations and neutron diffraction experiment, we identify the magnetic ground state of EuZn$_2$As$_2$ as A-type antiferromagnetic order with a transition temperature ($T_\mathrm{N}$ = 19.6 K) twice that of EuCd$_2$As$_2$. Like EuCd$_2$As$_2$, the negative magnetoresistance of EuZn$_2$As$_2$ is observed after suppressing the resistivity peak at $T_\mathrm{N}$ with increasing fields. However, the anisotropy in both transport and magnetization are much reduced in EuZn$_2$As$_2$. The difference could be ascribed to the weaker spin-orbit coupling, more localized $d$-orbitals, and a larger contribution from the Eu $s$-orbitals in the zinc compound, as suggested by the electronic band calculations. The same band structure effect could be also responsible for the observation of a smaller non-linear anomalous Hall effect in EuZn$_2$As$_2$ compared to EuCd$_2$As$_2$.

Enhancement of superconductivity on the verge of a structural instability in isovalently doped $β$-ThRh$_{1-x}$Ir$_{x}$Ge

$β$-ThRhGe, the high-temperature polymorph of ThRhGe, is isostructural to the well-known ferromagnetic superconductor URhGe. However, contrary to URhGe, $β$-ThRhGe is nonmagnetic and undergoes an incomplete structural phase transition at 244 K, followed by a superconducting transition below 3.36 K. Here we show that the isovalent substitution of Ir for Rh leads to a strong enhancement of superconductivity by suppressing the structural transition. At $x$ = 0.5, where the structural transition disappears, $T_{\rm c}$ reaches a maximum of 6.88 K. The enhancement of superconductivity is linked to the proximity to a structural quantum critical point at this Ir concentration, as suggested by the analysis of thermodynamic as well as resistivity data. First principles calculations indicate that the Ir doping has little effect on the electronic band dispersion near the Fermi level. $β$-ThRh$_{1-x}$Ir$_{x}$Ge thus provides an excellent platform to study the interplay between superconductivity and structural quantum criticality in actinide-containing compounds.

Charge Transport in a Polar Metal

The fate of electric dipoles inside a Fermi sea is an old issue, yet poorly-explored. Sr$_{1-x}$Ca$_x$TiO$_{3}$ hosts a robust but dilute ferroelectricity in a narrow ($0.002<x<0.02$) window of substitution. This insulator becomes metallic by removal of a tiny fraction of its oxygen atoms. Here, we present a detailed study of low-temperature charge transport in Sr$_{1-x}$Ca$_x$TiO$_{3-δ}$, documenting the evolution of resistivity with increasing carrier concentration ($n$). Below a threshold carrier concentration, $n^*(x)$, the polar structural phase transition has a clear signature in resistivity and Ca substitution significantly reduces the 2 K mobility at a given carrier density. For three different Ca concentrations, we find that the phase transition fades away when one mobile electron is introduced for about $7.9\pm0.6$ dipoles. This threshold corresponds to the expected peak in anti-ferroelectric coupling mediated by a diplolar counterpart of Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) interaction. Our results imply that the transition is driven by dipole-dipole interaction, even in presence of a dilute Fermi sea. Charge transport for $n < n^*(x)$ shows a non-monotonic temperature dependence, most probably caused by scattering off the transverse optical phonon mode. A quantitative explanation of charge transport in this polar metal remains a challenge to theory. For $n\geq n^*(x)$, resistivity follows a T-square behavior together with slight upturns (in both Ca-free and Ca-substituted samples). The latter are reminiscent of Kondo effect and most probably due to oxygen vacancies.

Consistency of semi-supervised learning algorithms on graphs: Probit and one-hot methods

Graph-based semi-supervised learning is the problem of propagating labels from a small number of labelled data points to a larger set of unlabelled data. This paper is concerned with the consistency of optimization-based techniques for such problems, in the limit where the labels have small noise and the underlying unlabelled data is well clustered. We study graph-based probit for binary classification, and a natural generalization of this method to multi-class classification using one-hot encoding. The resulting objective function to be optimized comprises the sum of a quadratic form defined through a rational function of the graph Laplacian, involving only the unlabelled data, and a fidelity term involving only the labelled data. The consistency analysis sheds light on the choice of the rational function defining the optimization.

Metal-to-metal transition and heavy-electron state in Nd$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10-δ}$

The trilayer nickelate Nd$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10-δ}$ ($δ\approx$ 0.15) was investigated by the measurements of x-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity. The crystal structure data suggest a higher Ni valence in the inner perovskite-like layer. At ambient pressure the resistivity shows a jump at 162 K, indicating a metal-to-metal transition (MMT). The MMT is also characterized by a magnetic susceptibility drop, a sharp specific-heat peak, and an isotropic lattice contraction. Below $\sim$ 50 K, a resistivity upturn with a log$T$ dependence shows up, accompanying with a negative thermal expansion. External hydrostatic pressure suppresses the resistivity jump progressively, coincident with the diminution of the log$T$ behavior. The low-temperature electronic specific-heat coefficient is extracted to be $\sim$ 150 mJ K$^{-2}$ mol-fu$^{-1}$, equivalent to $\sim$ 50 mJ K$^{-2}$ mol-Ni$^{-1}$, indicating an unusual heavy-electron correlated state. The novel heavy-electron state as well as the logarithmic temperature dependence of resistivity is explained in terms of the Ni$^{3+}$ centered Kondo effect in the inner layer of the (NdNiO$_3$)$_3$ trilayers.

Polymorphism and superconductivity in the V-Nb-Mo-Al-Ga high-entropy alloys

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are at the focus of current research for their diverse properties, including superconductivity and structural polymorphism. However, the polymorphic transition has been observed only in nonsuperconducting HEAs and mostly under high pressure. Here we report the discovery of superconductivity and temperature-driven polymorphism in the (V$_{0.5}$Nb$_{0.5}$)$_{3-x}$Mo$_{x}$Al$_{0.5}$Ga$_{0.5}$ (0.2 $\leq$ $x$ $\leq$ 1.4) HEAs. It is found that the as-cast HEA is of a single body-centered cubic (bcc) structure for $x$ = 0.2 and a mixture of the bcc and A15 structures for higher $x$ values. Upon annealing, the bcc structure undergoes a polymorphic transformation to the A15 one and all HEAs exhibits bulk superconductivity. For $x$ = 0.2, whereas the bcc polymorph is not superconducting down to 1.8 K, the A15 polymorph has a superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ of 10.2 K and an estimated zero-temperature upper critical field $B_{\rm c2}$(0) of 20.1 T, both of which are the highest among HEA superconductors. With increasing Mo content $x$, both $T_{\rm c}$ and $B_{\rm c2}$(0) of the A15-type HEAs decrease, yet the large ratio of $B_{\rm c2}$(0)/$T_{\rm c}$ signifies a disorder-induced enhancement of the upper critical field over a wide $x$ range. The decrease in $T_{\rm c}$ is attributed to the decrease in both the electronic specific-heat coefficient and electron-phonon coupling strength. Furthermore, the valence electron count dependence of $T_{\rm c}$, which is different from both the binary A15 and other structurally different HEA superconductors, suggests that $T_{\rm c}$ may be increased further by reducing the number of valence electrons. Our results not only uncover HEA superconductors of a new structural type, but also provide the first example of polymorphism dependent superconductivity in HEAs.

Superconductivity in hexagonal Nb-Mo-Ru-Rh-Pd high-entropy alloys

We report the superconducting properties of new hexagonal Nb$_{10+2x}$Mo$_{35-x}$Ru$_{35-x}$Rh$_{10}$Pd$_{10}$ high-entropy alloys (HEAs) (0 $\leq$ $x$ $\leq$ 5). With increasing $x$, the superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ shows a maximum of 6.19 K at $x$ = 2.5, while the zero-temperature upper critical field $B_{\rm c2}$(0) increases monotonically, reaching 8.3 T at $x$ = 5. For all $x$ values, the specific heat jump deviates from the Bardeen-Cooper-Schreiffer behavior. In addition, we show that $T_{\rm c}$ of these HEAs is not determined mainly by the density of states at the Fermi level and would be enhanced by lowering the valence electron concentration.

T-square resistivity without Umklapp scattering in dilute metallic Bi$_2$O$_2$Se

The electrical resistivity of Fermi liquids (FLs) displays a quadratic temperature ($T$) dependence because of electron-electron (e-e) scattering. For such collisions to decay the charge current, there are two known mechanisms: inter-band scattering (identified by Baber) and Umklapp events. However, dilute metallic strontium titanate (STO) was found to display $T^2$ resistivity in absence of either of these two mechanisms. The presence of soft phonons and their possible role as scattering centers raised the suspicion that $T$-square resistivity in STO is not due to e-e scattering. Here, we present the case of Bi$_2$O$_2$Se, a layered semiconductor with hard phonons, which becomes a dilute metal with a small single-component Fermi surface upon doping. It displays $T$-square resistivity well below the degeneracy temperature where neither Umklapp nor interband scattering is conceivable. We observe a universal scaling between the prefactor of $T^2$ resistivity and the Fermi energy, which is an extension of the Kadowaki-Woods plot to dilute metals. Our results imply the absence of a satisfactory theoretical basis for the ubiquity of e-e driven $T$-square resistivity in Fermi liquids.

Electronic and Magnetic Structure of Infinite-layer $\textrm{NdNiO}_2$: Trace of Antiferromagnetic Metal

The recent discovery of Sr-doped infinite-layer nickelate $\textrm{NdNiO}_2$ [D. Li et al. Nature 572, 624 (2019)] offers an exciting platform for investigating unconventional superconductivity in nickelatebased compounds. In this work, we present a first-principles calculations for the electronic and magnetic properties of undoped parent $\textrm{NdNiO}_2$. Intriguingly, we found that: 1) the paramagnetic phase has complex Fermi pockets with 3D characters near the Fermi level; 2) by including electronelectron interactions, 3d-electrons of Ni tend to form $(π, π, π)$ antiferromagnetic ordering at low temperatures; 3) with moderate interaction strength, 5d-electrons of Nd contribute small Fermi pockets that could weaken the magnetic order akin to the self-doping effect. Our results provide a plausible interpretation for the experimentally observed resistivity minimum and Hall coefficient drop. Moreover, we elucidate that antiferromagnetic ordering in $\textrm{NdNiO}_2$ is relatively weak, arising from the small exchange coupling between 3d-electrons of Niand also hybridization with 5d-electrons of Nd.

High pressure investigation of superconducting signatures in CeCu$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ : ac- magnetic susceptibility and heat capacity, resistivity and thermopower

Taking advantage of a novel multiprobe setup we have measured, on a unique sample, the ac-magnetic susceptibility, the resistivity, the ac-specific heat and the thermopower of the superconductor heavy fermion CeCu$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ under pressure up to 5.1 GPa. At the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$, the Meissner signal corresponds to that expected for the sample volume and coincides with the specific heat jump and the resistive transition completion temperatures. Differing from previous observations, here the susceptibility measurements did not reveal any anomaly in the vicinity of the resistive transition onset.

Instantaneous Photon Drag Currents in Topological Insulators

Topological insulator materials have been extensively studied in the field of condensed matter physics because nontrivial topology in the electronic state gives rise to a novel spin-polarized Dirac dispersion on the surface. To describe the electrodynamics of topological insulators, it is crucial to understand coherent and incoherent dynamics of carriers both in bulk and surface states. We applied terahertz emission spectroscopy to an intrinsic three-dimensional topological insulator material, $Bi_{1.5} Sb_{0.5} Te_{1.7} Se_{1.3}$, to elucidate ultrafast photo-induced carrier dynamics. The emitted terahertz electric field strongly depended on the polarization and incident angle of the excitation pulse. A three-fold rotational symmetry was clearly confirmed in the dependence of terahertz emissions on the azimuthal angle. The origin of terahertz emissions should be instantaneous photon drag currents induced by the excitation of femtosecond pulses.

Anomalous metallic state above the upper critical field of the conventional three-dimensional superconductor AgSnSe2 with strong intrinsic disorder

We report superconducting properties of AgSnSe2 which is a conventional type-II superconductor in the very dirty limit due to intrinsically strong electron scatterings. While this material is an isotropic three-dimensional (3D) superconductor with a not-so-short coherence length where strong vortex fluctuations are NOT expected, we found that the magnetic-field-induced resistive transition at fixed temperatures becomes increasingly broader toward zero temperature and, surprisingly, that this broadened transition is taking place largely ABOVE the upper critical field determined thermodynamically from the specific heat. This result points to the existence of an anomalous metallic state possibly caused by quantum phase fluctuations in a strongly-disordered 3D superconductor.

Tunability of the k-space Location of the Dirac Cones in the Topological Crystalline Insulator Pb1-xSnxTe

We have performed systematic angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of the topological crystalline insulator (TCI) Pb1-xSnxTe to elucidate the evolution of its electronic states across the topological phase transition. As previously reported, the band structure of SnTe (x = 1.0) measured on the (001) surface possesses a pair of Dirac-cone surface states located symmetrically across the Xbar point in the (110) mirror plane. Upon approaching the topological phase transition into the trivial phase at x_c ~ 0.25, we discovered that Dirac cones gradually move toward the Xbar point with its spectral weight gradually reduced with decreasing x. In samples with x <= 0.2, the Dirac-cone surface state is completely gone, confirming the occurrence of the topological phase transition. Also, the evolution of the valence band feature is found to be consistent with the bulk band inversion taking place at x_c. The tunability of the location of the Dirac cones in the Brillouin zone would be useful for applications requiring Fermi-surface matching with other materials, such as spin injection.

Ambipolar transport in bulk crystals of a topological insulator by gating with ionic liquid

We report that the ionic-liquid gating of bulk single crystals of a topological insulator can control the type of the surface carriers and even results in ambipolar transport. This was made possible by the use of a highly bulk-insulating BiSbTeSe2 system where the chemical potential is located close to both the surface Dirac point and the middle of the bulk band gap. Thanks to the use of ionic liquid, the control of the surface chemical potential by gating was possible on the whole surface of a bulk three-dimensional sample, opening new experimental opportunities for topological insulators. In addition, our data suggest the existence of a nearly reversible electrochemical reaction that causes bulk carrier doping into the crystal during the ionic-liquid gating process.

Experimental realization of a topological crystalline insulator in SnTe

Topological insulators materialize a topological quantum state of matter where unusual gapless metallic state protected by time-reversal symmetry appears at the edge or surface. Their discovery stimulated the search for new topological states protected by other symmetries, and a recent theory predicted the existence of "topological crystalline insulators" (TCIs) in which the metallic surface states are protected by mirror symmetry of the crystal. However, its experimental verification has not yet been reported. Here we show the first and definitive experimental evidence for the TCI phase in tin telluride (SnTe) which was recently predicted to be a TCI. Our angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy shows clear signature of a metallic Dirac-cone surface band with its Dirac point slightly away from the edge of the surface Brillouin zone in SnTe. On the other hand, such a gapless surface state is absent in a cousin material lead telluride (PbTe), in line with the theoretical prediction. Our result establishes the presence of a TCI phase, and opens new avenues for exotic topological phenomena.

Fermi level tuning and a large activation gap achieved in the topological insulator Bi_{2}Te_{2}Se by Sn doping

We report the effect of Sn doping on the transport properties of the topological insulator Bi_{2}Te_{2}Se studied in a series of Bi_{2-x}Sn_{x}Te_{2}Se crystals with 0 \leq x \leq 0.02. The undoped stoichiometric compound (x = 0) shows an n-type metallic behavior with its Fermi level pinned to the conduction band. In the doped compound, it is found that Sn acts as an acceptor and leads to a downshift of the Fermi level. For x \geq 0.004, the Fermi level is lowered into the bulk forbidden gap and the crystals present a resistivity considerably larger than 1 Ohmcm at low temperatures. In those crystals, the high-temperature transport properties are essentially governed by thermally-activated carriers whose activation energy is 95-125 meV, which probably signifies the formation of a Sn-related impurity band. In addition, the surface conductance directly obtained from the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations indicates that a surface-dominated transport can be achieved in samples with several um thickness.

Odd-Parity Pairing and Topological Superconductivity in a Strongly Spin-Orbit Coupled Semiconductor

The existence of topological superconductors preserving time-reversal symmetry was recently predicted, and they are expected to provide a solid-state realization of itinerant massless Majorana fermions and a route to topological quantum computation. Their first concrete example, CuxBi2Se3, was discovered last year, but the search for new materials has so far been hindered by the lack of guiding principle. Here, we report point-contact spectroscopy experiments showing that the low-carrier-density superconductor Sn_{1-x}In_{x}Te is accompanied with surface Andreev bound states which, with the help of theoretical analysis, give evidence for odd-parity pairing and topological superconductivity. The present and previous finding of topological superconductivity in Sn_{1-x}In_{x}Te and CuxBi2Se3 demonstrates that odd-parity pairing favored by strong spin-orbit coupling is a common underlying mechanism for materializing topological superconductivity.

Bulk superconducting phase with a full energy gap in the doped topological insulator Cu_xBi_2Se_3

The superconductivity recently found in the doped topological insulator Cu_xBi_2Se_3 offers a great opportunity to search for a topological superconductor. We have successfully prepared a single-crystal sample with a large shielding fraction and measured the specific-heat anomaly associated with the superconductivity. The temperature dependence of the specific heat suggests a fully-gapped, strong-coupling superconducting state, but the BCS theory is not in full agreement with the data, which hints at a possible unconventional pairing in Cu_xBi_2Se_3. Also, the evaluated effective mass of 2.6m_e (m_e is the free electron mass) points to a large mass enhancement in this material.

Competition of spatial and temporal instabilities under time delay near codimension-two Turing-Hopf bifurcations

Competition of spatial and temporal instabilities under time delay near the codimension-two Turing-Hopf bifurcations is studied in a reaction-diffusion equation. The time delay changes remarkably the oscillation frequency, the intrinsic wave vector, and the intensities of both Turing and Hopf modes. The application of appropriate time delay can control the competition between the Turing and Hopf modes. Analysis shows that individual or both feedbacks can realize the control of the transformation between the Turing and Hopf patterns. Two dimensional numerical simulations validate the analytical results.

Electrochemical synthesis and superconducting phase diagram of Cu_xBi2Se3

The superconducting Cu_xBi_2Se_3 is an electron-doped topological insulator and is a prime candidate of the topological superconductor which still awaits discovery. The electrochemical intercalation technique for synthesizing Cu_xBi2Se3 offers good control of restricting Cu into the van-der-Waals gap and yields samples with shielding fractions of up to ~50%. We report essential details of this synthesis technique and present the established superconducting phase diagram of T_c vs x, along with a diagram of the shielding fraction vs x. Intriguingly, those diagrams suggest that there is a tendency to spontaneously form small islands of optimum superconductor in this material.

Observation of Dirac Holes and Electrons in a Topological Insulator

We show that in the new topological-insulator compound Bi_{1.5}Sb_{0.5}Te_{1.7}Se_{1.3} one can achieve a surfaced-dominated transport where the surface channel contributes up to 70% of the total conductance. Furthermore, it was found that in this material the transport properties sharply reflect the time dependence of the surface chemical potential, presenting a sign change in the Hall coefficient with time. We demonstrate that such an evolution makes us observe both Dirac holes and electrons on the surface, which allows us to reconstruct the surface band dispersion across the Dirac point.

Observations of two-dimensional quantum oscillations and ambipolar transport in the topological insulator Bi2Se3 achieved by Cd doping

We present a defect-engineering strategy to optimize the transport properties of the topological insulator Bi2Se3 to show a high bulk resistivity and clear quantum oscillations. Starting with a p-type Bi2Se3 obtained by combining Cd doping and a Se-rich crystal-growth condition, we were able to observe a p-to-n-type conversion upon gradually increasing the Se vacancies by post annealing. With the optimal annealing condition where a high level of compensation is achieved, the resistivity exceeds 0.5 Ohmcm at 1.8 K and we observed two-dimensional Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations composed of multiple frequencies in magnetic fields below 14 T.

Optimizing the Bi_(2-x)Sb_(x)Te_(3-y)Se_(y) solid solutions to approach the intrinsic topological insulator regime

To optimize the bulk-insulating behavior in the topological insulator materials having the tetradymite structure, we have synthesized and characterized single-crystal samples of Bi_(2-x)Sb_(x)Te_(3-y)Se_(y) (BSTS) solid solution at various compositions. We have elucidated that there are a series of "intrinsic" compositions where the acceptors and donors compensate each other and present a maximally bulk-insulating behavior. At such compositions, the resistivity can become as large as several Ohmcm at low temperature and one can infer the role of the surface-transport channel in the non-linear Hall effect. In particular, the composition of Bi1.5Sb0.5Te1.7Se1.3 achieves the lowest bulk carrier density and appears to be best suited for surface transport studies.

Superconductivity and ferromagnetism in EuFe$_{2}$(As$_{1-x}$P$_{x}$)$_{2}$

Superconductivity and ferromagnetism are two antagonistic cooperative phenomena, which makes it difficult for them to coexist. Here we demonstrate experimentally that they do coexist in EuFe$_{2}$(As$_{1-x}$P$_{x}$)$_{2}$ with $0.2\leq x\leq0.4$, in which superconductivity is associated with Fe-3$d$ electrons and ferromagnetism comes from the long-range ordering of Eu-4$f$ moments via Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) interactions. The coexistence is featured by large saturated ferromagnetic moments, high and comparable superconducting and magnetic transition temperatures, and broad coexistence ranges in temperature and field. We ascribe this unusual phenomenon to the robustness of superconductivity as well as the multi-orbital characters of iron pnictides.

Angular-dependent oscillations of the magnetoresistance in Bi_2Se_3 due to the three-dimensional bulk Fermi surface

We observed pronounced angular-dependent magnetoresistance (MR) oscillations in a high-quality Bi2Se3 single crystal with the carrier density of 5x10^18 cm^-3, which is a topological insulator with residual bulk carriers. We show that the observed angular-dependent oscillations can be well simulated by using the parameters obtained from the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations, which clarifies that the oscillations are solely due to the bulk Fermi surface. By completely elucidating the bulk oscillations, this result paves the way for distinguishing the two-dimensional surface state in angular-dependent MR studies in Bi2Se3 with much lower carrier density. Besides, the present result provides a compelling demonstration of how the Landau quantization of an anisotropic three-dimensional Fermi surface can give rise to pronounced angular-dependent MR oscillations.

Large bulk resistivity and surface quantum oscillations in the topological insulator Bi2Te2Se

Topological insulators are predicted to present novel surface transport phenomena, but their experimental studies have been hindered by a metallic bulk conduction that overwhelms the surface transport. We show that a new topological insulator, Bi2Te2Se, presents a high resistivity exceeding 1 Ohm-cm and a variable-range hopping behavior, and yet presents Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations coming from the surface Dirac fermions. Furthermore, we have been able to clarify both the bulk and surface transport channels, establishing a comprehensive understanding of the transport in this material. Our results demonstrate that Bi2Te2Se is the best material to date for studying the surface quantum transport in a topological insulator.

Magnetic ordering and dense Kondo behaviour in EuFe$_{2}$P$_{2}$

Ternary iron phosphide EuFe$_2$P$_2$ with ThCr$_2$Si$_2$-type structure has been systematically studied by the measurements of crystal structure, magnetization, Mössbauer effect, transport properties and specific heat. The structural refinement result confirms no direct P-P covalent bonding. The Mössbauer spectra indicate no magnetic moment for the Fe atoms and, that the Eu ions are divalent in the whole temperatures, carrying local moments of $S$=7/2. The Eu$^{2+}$ spins order ferromagnetically at $T_C$=29.5 K, followed by a possible helimagnetic ordering below $T_{HM}$=26 K, where the Eu$^{2+}$ moments tilt a little from the c-axis. External magnetic field increases $T_C$ gradually, but suppresses $T_{HM}$ rapidly. (Magneto)resistivity data indicate characteristic dense Kondo behaviour above the Curie temperature. The result is discussed in terms of the interplay between intersite RKKY and intrasite Kondo interactions.
