New solutions of Isochronous potentials in terms of exceptional orthogonal polynomials in heterostructures

Point canonical transformation (PCT) has been used to find out new exactly solvable potentials in the position-dependent mass (PDM) framework. We solve $1$-D Schrödinger equation in the PDM framework by considering two different fairly generic position-dependent masses $ (i) M(x)=λg'(x)$ and $(ii) M(x) = c \left( {g'(x)} \right)^ν$, $ν=\frac{2η}{2η+1},$ with $η= 0,1,2\cdots $. In the first case, we find new exactly solvable potentials that depend on an integer parameter $m$, and the corresponding solutions are written in terms of $X_m$-Laguerre polynomials. In the latter case, we obtain a new one parameter $(ν)$ family of isochronous solvable potentials whose bound states are written in terms of $X_m$-Laguerre polynomials. Further, we show that the new potentials are shape invariant by using the supersymmetric approach in the framework of PDM.

Dirac equation with Morse potetnial under the influence of position-dependent mass and local Fermi velocity

We solve the one-dimensional Dirac equation by taking into account the possibility of position-dependence in the mass function. We also take the Fermi velocity to act as a local variable and examine the combined effects of the two on the solvability of the Dirac equation with respect to the Morse potential. Our results for the wave functions and the energy levels corresponding to such an extended scheme are furnished in closed forms.

Exceptional point in a coupled Swanson system

We propose an interacting nonhermitian model described by a two-mode quadratic Hamiltonian along with an interaction term to locate and analyze the presence of an exceptional point in the system. Each mode is guided by a Swanson-like quadratic Hamiltonian and a suitable choice is made for the interaction term. The parity-time symmetric transformation is adopted in the standard way relevant for a coupled system.

Robust Inverse Framework using Knowledge-guided Self-Supervised Learning: An application to Hydrology

Machine Learning is beginning to provide state-of-the-art performance in a range of environmental applications such as streamflow prediction in a hydrologic basin. However, building accurate broad-scale models for streamflow remains challenging in practice due to the variability in the dominant hydrologic processes, which are best captured by sets of process-related basin characteristics. Existing basin characteristics suffer from noise and uncertainty, among many other things, which adversely impact model performance. To tackle the above challenges, in this paper, we propose a novel Knowledge-guided Self-Supervised Learning (KGSSL) inverse framework to extract system characteristics from driver and response data. This first-of-its-kind framework achieves robust performance even when characteristics are corrupted. We show that KGSSL achieves state-of-the-art results for streamflow modeling for CAMELS (Catchment Attributes and MEteorology for Large-sample Studies) which is a widely used hydrology benchmark dataset. Specifically, KGSSL outperforms other methods by up to 16 \% in reconstructing characteristics. Furthermore, we show that KGSSL is relatively more robust to distortion than baseline methods, and outperforms the baseline model by 35\% when plugging in KGSSL inferred characteristics.

So (2, 1) algebra, local Fermi velocity, and position-dependent mass Dirac equation

We investigate the (1+1)-dimensional position-dependent mass Dirac equation within the confines of so(2,1) potential algebra by utilizing the character of a spatial varying Fermi velocity. We examine the combined effects of the two when the Dirac equation is equipped with an external pseuodoscalar potential. Solutions of the three cases induced by so(2, 1) are explored by profitably making use of a point canonical transformation.

Position-dependent mass Dirac equation and local Fermi velocity

We present a new approach to study (1+1)-dimensional Dirac equation in the background of an effective mass $M$ by exploiting the possibility of a position-dependent fermi velocity $v_f$. We explore the resulting structure of the coupled equations and arrive at an interesting constraint of $M$ turning out to be the inverse square of $v_f$. We address several solutions of the effective potential that include the free particle, shifted harmonic oscillator, Morse potential, and CPRS potential.

Generalized Uncertainty principle and momentum-dependent effective mass Schrodinger equation

We show in this paper that the basic representations of position and momentum in a quantum mechanical system, that are guided by a generalized uncertainty principle and lead to a corresponding one-parameter eigenvalue problem, can be interpreted in terms of an extended Schrodinger equation embodying momentum-dependent mass. Some simple consequences are pointed out.

Semi-supervised Classification using Attention-based Regularization on Coarse-resolution Data

Many real-world phenomena are observed at multiple resolutions. Predictive models designed to predict these phenomena typically consider different resolutions separately. This approach might be limiting in applications where predictions are desired at fine resolutions but available training data is scarce. In this paper, we propose classification algorithms that leverage supervision from coarser resolutions to help train models on finer resolutions. The different resolutions are modeled as different views of the data in a multi-view framework that exploits the complementarity of features across different views to improve models on both views. Unlike traditional multi-view learning problems, the key challenge in our case is that there is no one-to-one correspondence between instances across different views in our case, which requires explicit modeling of the correspondence of instances across resolutions. We propose to use the features of instances at different resolutions to learn the correspondence between instances across resolutions using an attention mechanism.Experiments on the real-world application of mapping urban areas using satellite observations and sentiment classification on text data show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Reconstruction of $f(G)$ gravity with ordinary and entropy-corrected $(m,n)$ type Holographic dark energy model

We have discussed the correspondence of the well-accepted $f(G)$ gravity theory with two dark energy models : $(m,n)$-type holographic dark energy [$(m,n)$-type HDE] and entropy-corrected $(m,n)$-type holographic dark energy. For this purpose, we have considered the power law form of the scale factor $a(t)=a_{0}t^{p}, p>1$. The reconstructed $f(G)$ in these models have been found and the models in both cases are found to be realistic. We have also discussed the classical stability issues in both models. The $(m,n)$-type HDE and its entropy-corrected versions are more stable than the ordinary HDE model.

Behaviour of interacting Ricci dark energy in logarithmic f(T) gravity

In the present work we have considered a modified gravity dubbed as "logarithmic $f(T)$ gravity" and investigated the behavior of Ricci dark energy interacting with pressureless dark matter. We have chosen the interaction term in the form $Q\propto Hδρ_{m}$ and investigated the behavior of the Hubble parameter $H$ as a function of the redshift $z$. For this reconstructed $H$ we have investigated the behavior of the density of the Ricci dark energy $ρ_{RDE}$ and density contribution due to torsion $ρ_{T}$. All of the said cosmological parameters are seen to have increasing behavior from higher to lower redshifts for all values of $c^{2}$ pertaining to the Ricci dark energy. Subsequently, we observed the equation of state parameter $w_{RDE}$ in this situation. The equation of state parameter is found to behave like phantom for all choices of $c^{2}$ in the Ricci dark energy.

Generalized second law of thermodynamics in the emergent universe for some viable models of f(T) gravity

The present study is motivated by the study of reference [1], where the generalized second law of thermodynamics has been investigated for a flat FRW universe for two viable models of $f(T)$ gravity. In the present work, we have considered a non-flat universe and accordingly studied the behaviors of equation of state parameter and deceleration parameter. Subsequently, using the first law of thermodynamics we derived the expressions for the time derivative of the total entropy of a universe enveloped by apparent horizon. In the next phase, with the choice of scale factor pertaining to an emergent universe we have investigated the sign of the time derivatives of total entropy for three viable models of $f(T)$ gravity.

The generalized second law of thermodynamics in f(R) gravity for various choices of scale factor

The present study is aimed at investigating the validity of the generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics in $f(\cal R)$ gravity. Choosing $f(\cal R)=R+ξR^μ+ζR^{-ν}$ [following Phys Rev D, 68, 123512 (2003)] we have computed the time derivatives of total entropy for various choices of scale factor pertaining to emergent, intermediate and logamediate scenarios of the universe. We have taken into account the radii of hubble, apparent, particle and event horizons while computing the time derivatives of entropy under various situations being considered. After analyzing through the plots of time derivative of total entropy against cosmic time it is observed that the derivative always stays at positive level that indicate the validity of GSL of thermodynamics in the $f(\cal R)$ gravity irrespective of the choices of scale factor and enveloping horizon.

A Dark Energy Model with Generalized Uncertainty Principle in the Emergent, Intermediate and Logamediate Scenarios of the Universe

This work is motivated by the work of Kim et al (2008), which considered the equation of state parameter for the new agegraphic dark energy based on generalized uncertainty principle coexisting with dark matter without interaction. In this work, we have considered the same dark energy inter- acting with dark matter in emergent, intermediate and logamediate scenarios of the universe. Also, we have investigated the statefinder, kerk and lerk parameters in all three scenarios under this inter- action. The energy density and pressure for the new agegraphic dark energy based on generalized uncertainty principle have been calculated and their behaviors have been investigated. The evolu- tion of the equation of state parameter has been analyzed in the interacting and non-interacting situations in all the three scenarios. The graphical analysis shows that the dark energy behaves like quintessence era for logamediate expansion and phantom era for emergent and intermediate expansions of the universe.
