Quasi-harmonic spectra from branched Hamiltonians

We revisit the canonical quantization to assess the spectrum of the modified Emden equation $\ddot{x} + kx\dot{x} + ω^2 x + \frac{k^2}{9}x^3 = 0$, which is an isochronous case of the Liénard-Kukles equation. While its classical isochronicity and canonical quantization, leading to polynomial solutions with an exactly-equispaced spectrum have been discussed earlier, including in the recent paper [Int. J. Theor. Phys. 64, 212 (2025)], the present study focuses on the quantization of its branched Hamiltonians. For small $k$, we show numerically that the resulting energy spectrum is no longer perfectly harmonic but only approximately equispaced, exhibiting quasi-harmonic behavior characterized by deviations from uniform spacing. Our numerical results are precisely validated by analytical calculations based on perturbation theory.

Dirac equation with Morse potetnial under the influence of position-dependent mass and local Fermi velocity

We solve the one-dimensional Dirac equation by taking into account the possibility of position-dependence in the mass function. We also take the Fermi velocity to act as a local variable and examine the combined effects of the two on the solvability of the Dirac equation with respect to the Morse potential. Our results for the wave functions and the energy levels corresponding to such an extended scheme are furnished in closed forms.

Exceptional point in a coupled Swanson system

We propose an interacting nonhermitian model described by a two-mode quadratic Hamiltonian along with an interaction term to locate and analyze the presence of an exceptional point in the system. Each mode is guided by a Swanson-like quadratic Hamiltonian and a suitable choice is made for the interaction term. The parity-time symmetric transformation is adopted in the standard way relevant for a coupled system.

So (2, 1) algebra, local Fermi velocity, and position-dependent mass Dirac equation

We investigate the (1+1)-dimensional position-dependent mass Dirac equation within the confines of so(2,1) potential algebra by utilizing the character of a spatial varying Fermi velocity. We examine the combined effects of the two when the Dirac equation is equipped with an external pseuodoscalar potential. Solutions of the three cases induced by so(2, 1) are explored by profitably making use of a point canonical transformation.

Tunneling of Hawking radiation for BTZ black hole revisited

We re-examine Hawking radiation for a nonrotating (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole and evaluate the transmission probability of tunneling through the barrier of the event horizon employing the standard method of WKB approximation. Our results are presented for both uncharged and charged cases. We also explore the associated thermodynamics in terms of Hawking temperature and provide estimates of black hole parameters like the surface gravity and entropy.

A pedestrian introduction to coherent and squeezed states

This review is intended for readers who want to have a quick understanding on the theoretical underpinnings of coherent states and squeezed states which are conventionally generated from the prototype harmonic oscillator but not always restricting to it. Noting that the treatments of building up such states have a long history, we collected the important ingredients and reproduced them from a fresh perspective but refrained from delving into detailed derivation of each topic. By no means we claim a comprehensive presentation of the subject but have only tried to re-capture some of the essential results and pointed out their inter-connectivity.

Generalized Uncertainty principle and momentum-dependent effective mass Schrodinger equation

We show in this paper that the basic representations of position and momentum in a quantum mechanical system, that are guided by a generalized uncertainty principle and lead to a corresponding one-parameter eigenvalue problem, can be interpreted in terms of an extended Schrodinger equation embodying momentum-dependent mass. Some simple consequences are pointed out.

New families of non-parity-time-symmetric complex potentials with all-real spectra

New families of non-parity-time-symmetric complex potentials with all-real spectra are derived by the supersymmetry method and the pseudo-Hermiticity method. With the supersymmetry method, we find families of non-parity-time-symmetric complex partner potentials which share the same spectrum as base potentials with known real spectra, such as the (complex) Wadati potentials. Different from previous supersymmetry derivations of potentials with real spectra, our derivation does not utilize discrete eigenmodes of base potentials. As a result, our partner potentials feature explicit analytical expressions which contain free functions. With the pseudo-Hermiticity method, we derive a new class of non-parity-time-symmetric complex potentials with free functions and constants, whose eigenvalues appear as conjugate pairs. This eigenvalue symmetry forces the spectrum to be all-real for a wide range of choices of these functions and constants in the potential. Tuning these free functions and constants, phase transition can also be induced, where conjugate pairs of complex eigenvalues emerge in the spectrum.

Remarks on the preservation of no-signaling principle in parity-time-symmetric quantum mechanics

Working within the framework of parity-time-symmetric quantum mechanics we look into the possibility of entanglement generation and demonstrate that the feature of non-violation of no-signaling principle may hold for the simplest non-trivial case of bipartite systems. Basically our arguments are based on the computation of the reduced density matrix of one party to justify that the entropy of the other does not change.

Scattering amplitudes for the rationally extended P T symmetric complex potentials

In this paper, we consider the rational extensions of two different P T symmetric complex potentials namely the asymptotically vanishing Scarf II and asymptotically non-vanishing Rosen-Morse II [ RM-II] potentials and obtain bound state eigenfunc- tions in terms of newly found exceptional Xm Jacobi polynomials and also some new type of orthogonal polynomials respectively. By considering the asymptotic behaviour of the exceptional polynomials, we obtain the reflection and transmission amplitudes for them and discuss the various novel properties of the corresponding amplitudes.

Bicomplex Hamiltonian systems in Quantum Mechanics

We investigate bicomplex Hamiltonian systems in the framework of an analogous version of the Schrodinger equation. Since in such a setting three different types of conjugates of bicomplex numbers appear, each is found to define in a natural way, a separate class of time reversal operator. However, the induced parity (P)-time (T)-symmetric models turn out to be mutually incompatible except for two of them which could be chosen uniquely. The latter models are then explored by working within an extended phase space. Applications to the problems of harmonic oscillator, inverted oscillator and isotonic oscillator are considered and many new interesting properties are uncovered for the new types of PT symmetries.

Exploring Branched Hamiltonians for a Class of Nonlinear Systems

One of the less well understood ambiguities of quantization is emphasized to result from the presence of higher-order time derivatives in the Lagrangians resulting in multiple-valued Hamiltonians. We explore certain classes of branched Hamiltonians in the context of nonlinear autonomous differential equation of Lienard type. Two eligible elementary nonlinear models that emerge are shown to admit a feasible quantization along these lines.

New 1-step extension of the Swanson oscillator and superintegrability of its two-dimensional generalization

We derive a one-step extension of the well known Swanson oscillator that describes a specific type of pseudo-Hermitian quadratic Hamiltonian connected to an extended harmonic oscillator model. Our analysis is based on the use of the techniques of supersymmetric quantum mechanics and address various representations of the ladder operators starting from a seed solution of the harmonic oscillator given in terms of a pseudo-Hermite polynomial. The role of the resulting chain of Hamiltonians related via similarity transformation is then exploited. In the second part we write down a two dimensional generalization of the Swanson Hamiltonian and establish superintegrability of such a system.

Qualitative analysis of certain generalized classes of quadratic oscillator systems

We carry out a systematic qualitative analysis of the two quadratic schemes of generalized oscillators recently proposed by C. Quesne [J.Math.Phys.\textbf{56},012903 (2015)]. By performing a local analysis of the governing potentials we demonstrate that while the first potential admits a pair of equilibrium points one of which is typically a center for both signs of the coupling strength $λ$, the other points to a centre for $λ< 0$ but a saddle $λ> 0$. On the other hand, the second potential reveals only a center for both the signs of $λ$ from a linear stability analysis. We carry out our study by extending Quesne's scheme to include the effects of a linear dissipative term. An important outcome is that we run into a remarkable transition to chaos in the presence of a periodic force term $f\cos ωt$.

New superposed elliptic solutions for a class of nonlinear evolution equations

In the context of the emergence of new classes of superposed solutions such as dn2 (x,m) \pm \sqrt m cn(x,m) dn(x,m) for a variety of nonlinear equations we present some additional new ones for the KdV and QNLS equations and show that they also admit exact solutions of the type nd2 (x,m) \pm \sqrt sd(x,m) nd(x,m). We also determine different types of superposed solutions for a generalized shallow water wave equation.

Tracking down localized modes in PT-symmetric Hamiltonians under the influence of a competing nonlinearity

The relevance of parity and time reversal (PT)-symmetric structures in optical systems is known for sometime with the correspondence existing between the Schrodinger equation and the paraxial equation of diffraction where the time parameter represents the propagating distance and the refractive index acts as the complex potential. In this paper, we systematically analyze a normalized form of the nonlinear Schrodinger system with two new families of PT-symmetric potentials in the presence of competing nonlinearities. We generate a class of localized eigenmodes and carry out a linear stability analysis on the solutions. In particular, we find an interesting feature of bifurcation charaterized by the parameter of perturbative growth rate passing through zero where a transition to imaginary eigenvalues occurs.

Nonlinear Dynamics of a position-dependent mass driven Duffing-type oscillator

We examine some nontrivial consequences that emerge from interpreting a position-dependent mass (PDM) driven Duffing oscillator in the presence of a quartic potential. The propagation dynamics is studied numerically and sensi- tivity to the PDM-index is noted. Remarkable transitions from a limit cycle to chaos through period doubling and from a chaotic to a regular motion through intermediate periodic and chaotic routes are demonstrated.

Competing PT potentials and re-entrant PT symmetric phase for a particle in a box

We investigate the effects of competition between two complex, $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric potentials on the $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric phase of a "particle in a box". These potentials, given by $V_Z(x)=iZ\mathrm{sign}(x)$ and $V_ξ(x)=iξ[δ(x-a)-δ(x+a)]$, represent long-range and localized gain/loss regions respectively. We obtain the $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric phase in the $(Z,ξ)$ plane, and find that for locations $\pm a$ near the edge of the box, the $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric phase is strengthened by additional losses to the loss region. We also predict that a broken $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetry will be restored by increasing the strength $ξ$ of the localized potential. By comparing the results for this problem and its lattice counterpart, we show that a robust $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric phase in the continuum is consistent with the fragile phase on the lattice. Our results demonstrate that systems with multiple, $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric potentials show unique, unexpected properties.

New Multi-order exact solutions for a class of nonlinear evolution equations

We seek multi-order exact solutions of a generalized shallow water wave equation along with those corresponding to a class of nonlinear systems described by the KdV, modified KdV, Boussinesq, Klein-Gordon and modified Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation. We employ a modified version of a generalized Lame equation and subject it to a perturbative treatment identifying the solutions order by order in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions. Our multi-order exact solutions are new and hold the key feature that they are expressible in terms of an auxiliary function f in a generic way. For appropriate choices of f we recover the previous results reported in the literature.

PT-symmetry breaking in complex nonlinear wave equations and their deformations

We investigate complex versions of the Korteweg-deVries equations and an Ito type nonlinear system with two coupled nonlinear fields. We systematically construct rational, trigonometric/hyperbolic, elliptic and soliton solutions for these models and focus in particular on physically feasible systems, that is those with real energies. The reality of the energy is usually attributed to different realisations of an antilinear symmetry, as for instance PT-symmetry. It is shown that the symmetry can be spontaneously broken in two alternative ways either by specific choices of the domain or by manipulating the parameters in the solutions of the model, thus leading to complex energies. Surprisingly the reality of the energies can be regained in some cases by a further breaking of the symmetry on the level of the Hamiltonian. In many examples some of the fixed points in the complex solution for the field undergo a Hopf bifurcation in the PT-symmetry breaking process. By employing several different variants of the symmetries we propose many classes of new invariant extensions of these models and study their properties. The reduction of some of these models yields complex quantum mechanical models previously studied.

Existence of Different Intermediate Hamiltonians in Type A N-fold Supersymmetry II. The N=3 Case

We continue the previous study on the existence of different intermediate Hamiltonians in type A N-fold supersymmetric systems and carry out an exhaustive investigation on the N=3 case. In contrast with the N=2 case, we find various patterns in the existence of intermediate Hamiltonians due to the presence of two different intermediate positions in a factorized type A 3-fold supercharge. In addition, all the N=3 models are strictly restricted to at most elliptic type, which enables us to make the complete classification of the systems which admit intermediate Hamiltonians. Finally, we show realizations of third-order parasupersymmetry and variant generalized 3-fold superalgebras by such systems.

Minimal areas from q-deformed oscillator algebras

We demonstrate that dynamical noncommutative space-time will give rise to deformed oscillator algebras. In turn, starting from some q-deformations of these algebras in a two dimensional space for which the entire deformed Fock space can be constructed explicitly, we derive the commutation relations for the dynamical variables in noncommutative space-time. We compute minimal areas resulting from these relations, i.e. finitely extended regions for which it is impossible to resolve any substructure in form of measurable knowledge. The size of the regions we find is determined by the noncommutative constant and the deformation parameter q. Any object in this type of space-time structure has to be of membrane type or in certain limits of string type.

New Exact Solutions of a Generalized Shallow Water Wave Equation

In this work an extended elliptic function method is proposed and applied to the generalized shallow water wave equation. We systematically investigate to classify new exact travelling wave solutions expressible in terms of quasi-periodic elliptic integral function and doubly-periodic Jacobian elliptic functions. The derived new solutions include rational, periodic, singular and solitary wave solutions. An interesting comparison with the canonical procedure is provided. In some cases the obtained elliptic solution has singularity at certain region in the whole space. For such solutions we have computed the effective region where the obtained solution is free from such a singularity.

Minimal length in Quantum Mechanics and non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems

Deformations of the canonical commutation relations lead to non-Hermitian momentum and position operators and therefore almost inevitably to non-Hermitian Hamiltonians. We demonstrate that such type of deformed quantum mechanical systems may be treated in a similar framework as quasi/pseudo and/or PT-symmetric systems, which have recently attracted much attention. For a newly proposed deformation of exponential type we compute the minimal uncertainty and minimal length, which are essential in almost all approaches to quantum gravity.
