ParaCodex: A Profiling-Guided Autonomous Coding Agent for Reliable Parallel Code Generation and Translation

Parallel programming is central to HPC and AI, but producing code that is correct and fast remains challenging, especially for OpenMP GPU offload, where data movement and tuning dominate. Autonomous coding agents can compile, test, and profile on target hardware, but outputs are brittle without domain scaffolding. We present ParaCodex, an HPC-engineer workflow that turns a Codex-based agent into an autonomous OpenMP GPU offload system using staged hotspot analysis, explicit data planning, correctness gating, and profiling-guided refinement. We evaluate translation from serial CPU kernels to OpenMP GPU offload kernels on HeCBench, Rodinia, and NAS. After excluding five kernels, ParaCodex succeeded on all 31 valid kernels. The generated kernels improved GPU time over reference OpenMP implementations in 25/31 cases, achieving geometric-mean speedups of 3x on HeCBench and 5x on Rodinia, and outperforming a zero-shot Codex baseline on all suites. We also evaluate CUDA to OpenMP offload translation on ParEval, where ParaCodex maintains high compilation and validation rates in code-only and end-to-end settings.

FlashVideo: A Framework for Swift Inference in Text-to-Video Generation

In the evolving field of machine learning, video generation has witnessed significant advancements with autoregressive-based transformer models and diffusion models, known for synthesizing dynamic and realistic scenes. However, these models often face challenges with prolonged inference times, even for generating short video clips such as GIFs. This paper introduces FlashVideo, a novel framework tailored for swift Text-to-Video generation. FlashVideo represents the first successful adaptation of the RetNet architecture for video generation, bringing a unique approach to the field. Leveraging the RetNet-based architecture, FlashVideo reduces the time complexity of inference from $\mathcal{O}(L^2)$ to $\mathcal{O}(L)$ for a sequence of length $L$, significantly accelerating inference speed. Additionally, we adopt a redundant-free frame interpolation method, enhancing the efficiency of frame interpolation. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that FlashVideo achieves a $\times9.17$ efficiency improvement over a traditional autoregressive-based transformer model, and its inference speed is of the same order of magnitude as that of BERT-based transformer models.

Spatial ergodicity and central limit theorems for parabolic Anderson model with delta initial condition

Let $\{u(t\,, x)\}_{t >0, x \in\mathbb{R}}$ denote the solution to the parabolic Anderson model with initial condition $δ_0$ and driven by space-time white noise on $\mathbb{R}_+\times\mathbb{R}$, and let $p_t(x):= (2πt)^{-1/2}\exp\{-x^2/(2t)\}$ denote the standard Gaussian heat kernel on the line. We use a non-trivial adaptation of the methods in our companion papers \cite{CKNP,CKNP_b} in order to prove that the random field $x\mapsto u(t\,,x)/p_t(x)$ is ergodic for every $t >0$. And we establish an associated quantitative central limit theorem following the approach based on the Malliavin-Stein method introduced in Huang, Nualart, and Viitasaari \cite{HNV2018}.

Invariant measures for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation with no drift term

This paper deals with the long term behavior of the solution to the nonlinear stochastic heat equation $\partial u /\partial t - \frac{1}{2}Δu = b(u)\dot{W}$, where $b$ is assumed to be a globally Lipschitz continuous function and the noise $\dot{W}$ is a centered and spatially homogeneous Gaussian noise that is white in time. Using the moment formulas obtained in [9, 10], we identify a set of conditions on the initial data, the correlation measure and the weight function $ρ$, which will together guarantee the existence of an invariant measure in the weighted space $L^2_ρ(\mathbb{R}^d)$. In particular, our result includes the parabolic Anderson model (i.e., the case when $b(u) = λu$) starting from the Dirac delta measure.

Moments and asymptotics for a class of SPDEs with space-time white noise

In this article, we consider the nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional order in both space and time variables with constant initial condition: \begin{equation*} \left(\partial^β_t+\dfracν{2}\left(-Δ\right)^{α/ 2}\right) u(t, x)= ~ I_{t}^γ\left[λu(t, x) \dot{W}(t, x)\right] \quad t>0,~ x\in\mathbb R^d, \end{equation*} where $\dot{W}$ is space-time white noise, $α>0$, $β\in(0,2]$, $γ\ge 0$, $λ\neq0$ and $ν>0$. The existence and uniqueness of solution in the Itô-Skorohod sense is obtained under Dalang's condition. We obtain explicit formulas for both the second moment and the second moment Lyapunov exponent. We derive the $p$-th moment upper bounds and find the matching lower bounds. Our results solve a large class of conjectures regarding the order of the $p$-th moment Lyapunov exponents. In particular, by letting $β=2$, $α=2$, $γ=0$, and $d=1$, we confirm the following standing conjecture for the stochastic wave equation: \begin{align*} t^{-1}\log\mathbb E[u(t,x)^p] \asymp p^{3/2}, \quad \text{for $p\ge 2$ as $t\to \infty$.} \end{align*} The method for the lower bounds is inspired by a recent work by Hu and Wang [HW21], where the authors focus on the space-time colored Gaussian noise.

Parabolic Anderson model with rough noise in space and rough initial conditions

In this note, we consider the parabolic Anderson model on $\mathbb{R}_{+} \times \mathbb{R}$, driven by a Gaussian noise which is fractional in time with index $H_0>1/2$ and fractional in space with index $0<H<1/2$ such that $H_0+H>3/4$. Under a general condition on the initial data, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the mild solution and obtain its exponential upper bounds in time for all $p$-th moments with $p\ge 2$.

Superlinear stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}^d$

In this paper, we study the stochastic heat equation (SHE) on $\mathbb{R}^d$ subject to a centered Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space. We establish the existence and uniqueness of the random field solution in the presence of locally Lipschitz drift and diffusion coefficients, which can have certain superlinear growth. This is a nontrivial extension of the recent work by Dalang, Khoshnevisan and Zhang (2019), where the one-dimensional SHE on $[0,1]$ subject to space-time white noise has been studied.

Central limit theorems for spatial averages of the stochastic heat equation via Malliavin-Stein's method

Suppose that $\{u(t\,, x)\}_{t >0, x \in\mathbb{R}^d}$ is the solution to a $d$-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a Gaussian noise that is white in time and has a spatially homogeneous covariance that satisfies Dalang's condition. The purpose of this paper is to establish quantitative central limit theorems for spatial averages of the form $N^{-d} \int_{[0,N]^d} g(u(t\,,x))\, \mathrm{d} x$, as $N\rightarrow\infty$, where $g$ is a Lipschitz-continuous function or belongs to a class of locally-Lipschitz functions, using a combination of the Malliavin calculus and Stein's method for normal approximations. Our results include a central limit theorem for the {\it Hopf-Cole} solution to KPZ equation. We also establish a functional central limit theorem for these spatial averages.

Learning Trajectories for Visual-Inertial System Calibration via Model-based Heuristic Deep Reinforcement Learning

Visual-inertial systems rely on precise calibrations of both camera intrinsics and inter-sensor extrinsics, which typically require manually performing complex motions in front of a calibration target. In this work we present a novel approach to obtain favorable trajectories for visual-inertial system calibration, using model-based deep reinforcement learning. Our key contribution is to model the calibration process as a Markov decision process and then use model-based deep reinforcement learning with particle swarm optimization to establish a sequence of calibration trajectories to be performed by a robot arm. Our experiments show that while maintaining similar or shorter path lengths, the trajectories generated by our learned policy result in lower calibration errors compared to random or handcrafted trajectories.

Comparison principle for stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}^d$

We establish the strong comparison principle and strict positivity of solutions to the following nonlinear stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}^d$ \[ \left(\frac{\partial }{\partial t} -\frac{1}{2}Δ\right) u(t,x) = ρ(u(t,x)) \:\dot{M}(t,x), \] for measure-valued initial data, where $\dot{M}$ is a spatially homogeneous Gaussian noise that is white in time and $ρ$ is Lipschitz continuous. These results are obtained under the condition that $\int_{\mathbb{R}^d}(1+|ξ|^2)^{α-1}\hat{f}(\text{d} ξ)<\infty$ for some $α\in(0,1]$, where $\hat{f}$ is the spectral measure of the noise. {The weak comparison principle and nonnegativity of solutions to the same equation are obtained under Dalang's condition, i.e., $α=0$.} As some intermediate results, we obtain handy upper bounds for $L^p(Ω)$-moments of $u(t,x)$ for all $p\ge 2$, and also prove that $u$ is a.s. Hölder continuous with order $α-ε$ in space and $α/2-ε$ in time for any small $ε>0$.

Parabolic Anderson Model with space-time homogeneous Gaussian noise and rough initial condition

In this article, we study the Parabolic Anderson Model driven by a space-time homogeneous Gaussian noise on $\mathbb{R}_{+} \times \mathbb{R}^d$, whose covariance kernels in space and time are locally integrable non-negative functions, which are non-negative definite (in the sense of distributions). We assume that the initial condition is given by a signed Borel measure on $\mathbb{R}^d$, and the spectral measure of the noise satisfies Dalang's (1999) condition. Under these conditions, we prove that this equation has a unique solution, and we investigate the magnitude of the $p$-th moments of the solution, for any $p \geq 2$. In addition, we show that this solution has a Hölder continuous modification with the same regularity and under the same condition as in the case of the white noise in time, regardless of the temporal covariance function of the noise.

Regularity and strict positivity of densities for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and regularity of the density of the solution to a semilinear stochastic (fractional) heat equation with measure-valued initial conditions. Under a mild cone condition for the diffusion coefficient, we establish the smooth joint density at multiple points. The tool we use is Malliavin calculus. The main ingredient is to prove that the solutions to a related stochastic partial differential equation have negative moments of all orders. Because we cannot prove $u(t,x)\in \mathbb{D}^\infty$ for measure-valued initial data, we need a localized version of Malliavin calculus. Furthermore, we prove that the (joint) density is strictly positive in the interior of the support of the law, where we allow both measure-valued initial data and unbounded diffusion coefficient. The criteria introduced by Bally and Pardoux [1] are no longer applicable for the parabolic Anderson model. We have extended their criteria to a localized version. Our general framework includes the parabolic Anderson model as a special case.

Space-time fractional diffusions in Gaussian noisy environment

This paper studies the linear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional orders both in time and space variables $\left(\partial^β+ \fracν{2} (-Δ)^{α/2} \right) u(t,x)= λu(t,x) \dot{W}(t,x)$, where $\dot W$ is a general Gaussian noise and $β\in (1/2, 2)$, $α\in (0, 2]$. The existence and uniqueness of the solution, the moment bounds of the solution are obtained by using the fundamental solutions of the corresponding deterministic counterpart represented by the Fox H-functions. Along the way, we obtain some new properties of the fundamental solutions.

The third moment for the parabolic Anderson model

In this paper, we study the {\it parabolic Anderson model} starting from the Dirac delta initial data: \[ \left(\frac{\partial}{\partial t} -\fracν{2}\frac{\partial^2}{\partial x^2} \right) u(t,x) = λu(t,x) \dot{W}(t,x), \qquad u(0,x)=δ_0(x), \quad x\in\mathbb{R}, \] where $\dot{W}$ denotes the space-time white noise. By evaluating the threefold contour integral in the third moment formula by Borodin and Corwin [2], we obtain some explicit formulas for $\mathbb{E}[u(t,x)^3]$. One application of these formulas is given to show the exact phase transition for the intermittency front of order three.

A Boundedness Trichotomy for the Stochastic Heat Equation

We consider the stochastic heat equation with a multiplicative white noise forcing term under standard "intermitency conditions." The main finding of this paper is that, under mild regularity hypotheses, the a.s.-boundedness of the solution $x\mapsto u(t\,,x)$ can be characterized generically by the decay rate, at $\pm\infty$, of the initial function $u_0$. More specifically, we prove that there are 3 generic boundedness regimes, depending on the numerical value of $Λ:= \lim_{|x|\to\infty} |\log u_0(x)|/(\log|x|)^{2/3}$.

Moments and growth indices for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation with rough initial conditions

We study the nonlinear stochastic heat equation in the spatial domain $\mathbb {R}$, driven by space-time white noise. A central special case is the parabolic Anderson model. The initial condition is taken to be a measure on $\mathbb {R}$, such as the Dirac delta function, but this measure may also have noncompact support and even be nontempered (e.g., with exponentially growing tails). Existence and uniqueness of a random field solution is proved without appealing to Gronwall's lemma, by keeping tight control over moments in the Picard iteration scheme. Upper bounds on all $p$th moments $(p\ge2)$ are obtained as well as a lower bound on second moments. These bounds become equalities for the parabolic Anderson model when $p=2$. We determine the growth indices introduced by Conus and Khoshnevisan [Probab. Theory Related Fields 152 (2012) 681-701].

Nonlinear stochastic heat equation driven by spatially colored noise: moments and intermittency

In this paper, we study the stochastic heat equation in the spatial domain $\mathbb{R}^d$ subject to a Gaussian noise which is white in time and colored in space. The spatial correlation can be any symmetric, nonnegative and nonnegative-definite function that satisfies {\it Dalang's condition}. We establish the existence and uniqueness of a random field solution starting from measure-valued initial data. We find the upper and lower bounds for the second moment. As a first application of these moments bounds, we find the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solution to have phase transition for the second moment Lyapunov exponents. As another application, we prove a localization result for the intermittency fronts.

Nonlinear stochastic time-fractional slow and fast diffusion equations on $\mathbb{R}^d$

This paper studies the nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional orders both in space and time variables: \[ \left(\partial^β+\fracν{2}(-Δ)^{α/2}\right)u(t,x) = I_t^γ\left[ρ(u(t,x))\dot{W}(t,x)\right],\quad t>0,\: x\in\mathbb{R}^d, \] where $\dot{W}$ is the space-time white noise, $α\in(0,2]$, $β\in(0,2)$, $γ\ge 0$ and $ν>0$. Fundamental solutions and their properties, in particular the nonnegativity, are derived. The existence and uniqueness of solution together with the moment bounds of the solution are obtained under Dalang's condition: $d<2α+\fracαβ\min(2γ-1,0)$. In some cases, the initial data can be measures. When $β\in (0,1]$, we prove the sample path regularity of the solution.

Two-point correlation function and Feynman-Kac formula for the stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we obtain an explicit formula for the two-point correlation function for the solutions to the stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}$. The bounds for $p$-th moments proved in [3] are simplified. We validate the Feynman-Kac formula for the $p$-point correlation function of the solutions to this equation with measure-valued initial data.

Decorrelation of total mass via energy

The main result of this small note is a quantified version of the assertion that if u and v solve two nonlinear stochastic heat equations, and if the mutual energy between the initial states of the two stochastic PDEs is small, then the total masses of the two systems are nearly uncorrelated for a very long time. One of the consequences of this fact is that a stochastic heat equation with regular coefficients is a finite system if and only if the initial state is integrable.

Dissipation and high disorder

Given a field $\{B(x)\}_{x\in\mathbf{Z}^d}$ of independent standard Brownian motions, indexed by $\mathbf{Z}^d$, the generator of a suitable Markov process on $\mathbf{Z}^d,\,\,\mathcal{G},$ and sufficiently nice function $σ:[0,\infty)\to[0,\infty),$ we consider the influence of the parameter $λ$ on the behavior of the system, \begin{align*} \rm{d} u_t(x) = & (\mathcal{G}u_t)(x)\,\rm{d} t + λσ(u_t(x))\rm{d} B_t(x) \qquad[t>0,\ x\in\mathbf{Z}^d], &u_0(x)=c_0δ_0(x). \end{align*} We show that for any $λ>0$ in dimensions one and two the total mass $\sum_{x\in\mathbf{Z}^d}u_t(x)\to 0$ as $t\to\infty$ while for dimensions greater than two there is a phase transition point $λ_c\in(0,\infty)$ such that for $λ>λ_c,\, \sum_{\mathbf{Z}^d}u_t(x)\to 0$ as $t\to\infty$ while for $λ<λ_c,\,\sum_{\mathbf{Z}^d}u_t(x)\not\to 0$ as $t\to\infty.$

Moment bounds in spde's with application to the stochastic wave equation

We exhibit a class of properties of an spde that guarantees existence, uniqueness and bounds on moments of the solution. These moment bounds are expressed in terms of quantities related to the associated deterministic homogeneous p.d.e. With these, we can, for instance, obtain solutions to the stochastic heat equation on the real line for initial data that falls in a certain class of Schwartz distributions, but our main focus is the stochastic wave equation on the real line with irregular initial data. We give bounds on higher moments, and for the hyperbolic Anderson model, explicit formulas for second moments. We establish weak intermittency and obtain sharp bounds on exponential growth indices for certain classes of initial conditions with unbounded support. Finally, we relate Hölder-continuity properties of the stochastic integral part of the solution to the stochastic wave equation to integrability properties of the initial data, obtaining the optimal Hölder exponent.

Moments, Intermittency and Growth Indices for the Nonlinear Fractional Stochastic Heat Equation

We study the nonlinear fractional stochastic heat equation in the spatial domain $\mathbb{R}$ driven by space-time white noise. The initial condition is taken to be a measure on $\mathbb{R}$, such as the Dirac delta function, but this measure may also have non-compact support. Existence and uniqueness, as well as upper and lower bounds on all $p$-th moments $(p\ge 2)$, are obtained. These bounds are uniform in the spatial variable, which answers an open problem mentioned in Conus and Khoshnevisan [9]. We improve the weak intermittency statement by Foondun and Khoshnevisan [14], and we show that the growth indices (of linear type) introduced in [9] are infinite. We introduce the notion of "growth indices of exponential type" in order to characterize the manner in which high peaks propagate away from the origin, and we show that the presence of a fractional differential operator leads to significantly different behavior compared with the standard stochastic heat equation.

Nonlinear stochastic time-fractional diffusion equations on $\mathbb{R}$: moments, Hölder regularity and intermittency

We study the nonlinear stochastic time-fractional diffusion equations in the spatial domain $\mathbb{R}$, driven by multiplicative space-time white noise. The fractional index $β$ varies continuously from $0$ to $2$. The case $β=1$ (resp. $β=2$) corresponds to the stochastic heat (resp. wave) equation. The cases $β\in \:]0,1[\:$ and $β\in \:]1,2[\:$ are called {\it slow diffusion equations} and {\it fast diffusion equations}, respectively. Existence and uniqueness of random field solutions with measure-valued initial data, such as the Dirac delta measure, are established. Upper bounds on all $p$-th moments $(p\ge 2)$ are obtained, which are expressed using a kernel function $\mathcal{K}(t,x)$. The second moment is sharp. We obtain the Hölder continuity of the solution for the slow diffusion equations when the initial data is a bounded function. We prove the weak intermittency for both slow and fast diffusion equations. In this study, we introduce a special function, the {\it two-parameter Mainardi functions}, which are generalizations of the one-parameter Mainardi functions.

On comparison principle and strict positivity of solutions to the nonlinear stochastic fractional heat equations

In this paper, we prove a sample-path comparison principle for the nonlinear stochastic fractional heat equation on $\mathbb{R}$ with measure-valued initial data. We give quantitative estimates about how close to zero the solution can be. These results extend Mueller's comparison principle on the stochastic heat equation to allow more general initial data such as the (Dirac) delta measure and measures with heavier tails than linear exponential growth at $\pm\infty$. These results generalize a recent work by Moreno Flores [25], who proves the strict positivity of the solution to the stochastic heat equation with the delta initial data. As one application, we establish the full intermittency for the equation. As an intermediate step, we prove the Hölder regularity of the solution starting from measure-valued initial data, which generalizes, in some sense, a recent work by Chen and Dalang [6].

Hölder-continuity for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation with rough initial conditions

We study space-time regularity of the solution of the nonlinear stochastic heat equation in one spatial dimension driven by space-time white noise, with a rough initial condition. This initial condition is a locally finite measure $μ$ with, possibly, exponentially growing tails. We show how this regularity depends, in a neighborhood of $t=0$, on the regularity of the initial condition. On compact sets in which $t>0$, the classical Hölder-continuity exponents $\frac{1}{4}-$ in time and $\frac{1}{2}-$ in space remain valid. However, on compact sets that include $t=0$, the Hölder continuity of the solution is $\left(\fracα{2}\wedge \frac{1}{4}\right)-$ in time and $\left(α\wedge \frac{1}{2}\right)-$ in space, provided $μ$ is absolutely continuous with an $α$-Hölder continuous density.

The nonlinear stochastic heat equation with rough initial data:a summary of some new results

This is a preliminary announcement of results in the PhD. thesis of the first author concerning the nonlinear stochastic heat equation in the spatial domain $\R$, driven by space-time white noise. A central special case is the parabolic Anderson model. The initial condition is taken to be a measure on $\R$, such as the Dirac delta function, but this measure may also have non-compact support and even be non-tempered (for instance with exponentially growing tails). Existence and uniqueness is proved without appealing to Gronwall's lemma, by keeping tight control over moments in the Picard iteration scheme. Upper and lower bounds on all $p$-th moments $(p\ge 2)$ are obtained. These bounds become equalities for the parabolic Anderson model when $p=2$. The growth indices introduced by Conus and Khoshnevisan (2010) are determined and, despite the irregular initial conditions, Hölder continuity of the solution for $t>0$ is established.
