Spatial ergodicity and central limit theorems for parabolic Anderson model with delta initial condition

Let $\{u(t\,, x)\}_{t >0, x \in\mathbb{R}}$ denote the solution to the parabolic Anderson model with initial condition $δ_0$ and driven by space-time white noise on $\mathbb{R}_+\times\mathbb{R}$, and let $p_t(x):= (2πt)^{-1/2}\exp\{-x^2/(2t)\}$ denote the standard Gaussian heat kernel on the line. We use a non-trivial adaptation of the methods in our companion papers \cite{CKNP,CKNP_b} in order to prove that the random field $x\mapsto u(t\,,x)/p_t(x)$ is ergodic for every $t >0$. And we establish an associated quantitative central limit theorem following the approach based on the Malliavin-Stein method introduced in Huang, Nualart, and Viitasaari \cite{HNV2018}.

Convergence of densities of spatial averages of the parabolic Anderson model driven by colored noise

In this paper, we present a rate of convergence in the uniform norm for the densities of spatial averages of the solution to the d-dimensional parabolic Anderson model driven by a Gaussian multiplicative noise, which is white in time and has a spatial covariance given by the Riesz kernel. The proof is based on the combination of Malliavin calculus techniques and the Stein's method for normal approximations.

The hyperbolic Anderson model: Moment estimates of the Malliavin derivatives and applications

In this article, we study the hyperbolic Anderson model driven by a space-time \emph{colored} Gaussian homogeneous noise with spatial dimension $d=1,2$. Under mild assumptions, we provide $L^p$-estimates of the iterated Malliavin derivative of the solution in terms of the fundamental solution of the wave solution. To achieve this goal, we rely heavily on the \emph{Wiener chaos expansion} of the solution. Our first application are \emph{quantitative central limit theorems} for spatial averages of the solution to the hyperbolic Anderson model, where the rates of convergence are described by the total variation distance. These quantitative results have been elusive so far due to the temporal correlation of the noise blocking us from using the Itô calculus. A \emph{novel} ingredient to overcome this difficulty is the \emph{second-order Gaussian Poincaré inequality} coupled with the application of the aforementioned $L^p$-estimates of the first two Malliavin derivatives. Besides, we provide the corresponding functional central limit theorems. As a second application, we establish the absolute continuity of the law for the hyperbolic Anderson model. The $L^p$-estimates of Malliavin derivatives are crucial ingredients to verify a local version of Bouleau-Hirsch criterion for absolute continuity. Our approach substantially simplifies the arguments for the one-dimensional case, which has been studied in the recent work by Balan, Quer-Sardanyons and Song (2019).

Regularization of differential equations by two fractional noises

In this paper we show the existence and uniqueness of a solution for a stochastic differential equation driven by an additive noise which is the sum of two fractional Brownian motions with different Hurst parameters. The proofs are based on the techniques of fractional calculus and Girsanov theorem. In particular, we show that the regularization effect of the fractional Brownian motion with the smaller Hurst index dominates.

Averaging Gaussian functionals

This paper consists of two parts. In the first part, we focus on the average of a functional over shifted Gaussian homogeneous noise and as the averaging domain covers the whole space, we establish a Breuer-Major type Gaussian fluctuation based on various assumptions on the covariance kernel and/or the spectral measure. Our methodology for the first part begins with the application of Malliavin calculus around Nualart-Peccati's Fourth Moment Theorem, and in addition we apply the Fourier techniques as well as a soft approximation argument based on Bessel functions of first kind. The same methodology leads us to investigate a closely related problem in the second part. We study the spatial average of a linear stochastic heat equation driven by space-time Gaussian colored noise. The temporal covariance kernel $γ_0$ is assumed to be locally integrable in this paper. If the spatial covariance kernel is nonnegative and integrable on the whole space, then the spatial average admits Gaussian fluctuation; with some extra mild integrability condition on $γ_0$, we are able to provide a functional central limit theorem. These results complement recent studies on the spatial average for SPDEs. Our analysis also allows us to consider the case where the spatial covariance kernel is not integrable: For example, in the case of the Riesz kernel, the first chaotic component of the spatial average is dominant so that the Gaussian fluctuation also holds true.

Central limit theorems for spatial averages of the stochastic heat equation via Malliavin-Stein's method

Suppose that $\{u(t\,, x)\}_{t >0, x \in\mathbb{R}^d}$ is the solution to a $d$-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a Gaussian noise that is white in time and has a spatially homogeneous covariance that satisfies Dalang's condition. The purpose of this paper is to establish quantitative central limit theorems for spatial averages of the form $N^{-d} \int_{[0,N]^d} g(u(t\,,x))\, \mathrm{d} x$, as $N\rightarrow\infty$, where $g$ is a Lipschitz-continuous function or belongs to a class of locally-Lipschitz functions, using a combination of the Malliavin calculus and Stein's method for normal approximations. Our results include a central limit theorem for the {\it Hopf-Cole} solution to KPZ equation. We also establish a functional central limit theorem for these spatial averages.

Limit theorems for integral functionals of Hermite-driven processes

Consider a moving average process $X$ of the form $X(t)=\int_{-\infty}^t x(t-u)dZ_u$, $t\geq 0$, where $Z$ is a (non Gaussian) Hermite process of order $q\geq 2$ and $x:\mathbb{R}_+\to\mathbb{R}$ is sufficiently integrable. This paper investigates the fluctuations, as $T\to\infty$, of integral functionals of the form $t\mapsto \int_0^{Tt }P(X(s))ds$, in the case where $P$ is any given polynomial function. It extends a study initiated in Tran (2018), where only the quadratic case $P(x)=x^2$ and the convergence in the sense of finite-dimensional distributions were considered.

Quantitative normal approximations for the stochastic fractional heat equation

In this article we present a {\it quantitative} central limit theorem for the stochastic fractional heat equation driven by a a general Gaussian multiplicative noise, including the cases of space-time white noise and the white-colored noise with spatial covariance given by the Riesz kernel or a bounded integrable function. We show that the spatial average over a ball of radius $R$ converges, as $R$ tends to infinity, after suitable renormalization, towards a Gaussian limit in the total variation distance. We also provide a functional central limit theorem. As such, we extend recently proved similar results for stochastic heat equation to the case of the fractional Laplacian and to the case of general noise.

Central limit theorem for functionals of a generalized self-similar Gaussian process

We consider a class of self-similar, continuous Gaussian processes that do not necessarily have stationary increments. We prove a version of the Breuer-Major theorem for this class, that is, subject to conditions on the covariance function, a generic functional of the process increments converges in law to a Gaussian random variable. The proof is based on the Fourth Moment Theorem. We give examples of five non-stationary processes that satisfy these conditions.

Large time asymptotics for the parabolic Anderson model driven by spatially correlated noise

In this paper we study the linear stochastic heat equation, also known as parabolic Anderson model, in multidimension driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and it has a correlated spatial covariance. Examples of such covariance include the Riesz kernel in any dimension and the covariance of the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H\in (\frac 14, \frac 12]$ in dimension one. First we establish the existence of a unique mild solution and we derive a Feynman-Kac formula for its moments using a family of independent Brownian bridges and assuming a general integrability condition on the initial data. In the second part of the paper we compute Lyapunov exponents, lower and upper exponential growth indices in terms of a variational quantity. The last part of the paper is devoted to study the phase transition property of the Anderson model.

Parabolic Anderson model with rough dependence in space

This paper studies the one-dimensional parabolic Anderson model driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and has the covariance of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H \in (\frac{1}{4}, \frac{1}{2})$ in the space variable. We derive the Wiener chaos expansion of the solution and a Feynman-Kac formula for the moments of the solution. These results allow us to establish sharp lower and upper asymptotic bounds for the $n$th moment of the solution.

Quantitative stable limit theorems on the Wiener space

We use Malliavin operators in order to prove quantitative stable limit theorems on the Wiener space, where the target distribution is given by a possibly multidimensional mixture of Gaussian distributions. Our findings refine and generalize previous works by Nourdin and Nualart [J. Theoret. Probab. 23 (2010) 39-64] and Harnett and Nualart [Stochastic Process. Appl. 122 (2012) 3460-3505], and provide a substantial contribution to a recent line of research, focussing on limit theorems on the Wiener space, obtained by means of the Malliavin calculus of variations. Applications are given to quadratic functionals and weighted quadratic variations of a fractional Brownian motion.

Rate of convergence and asymptotic error distribution of Euler approximation schemes for fractional diffusions

For a stochastic differential equation(SDE) driven by a fractional Brownian motion(fBm) with Hurst parameter $H>\frac{1}{2}$, it is known that the existing (naive) Euler scheme has the rate of convergence $n^{1-2H}$. Since the limit $H\rightarrow\frac{1}{2}$ of the SDE corresponds to a Stratonovich SDE driven by standard Brownian motion, and the naive Euler scheme is the extension of the classical Euler scheme for Itô SDEs for $H=\frac{1}{2}$, the convergence rate of the naive Euler scheme deteriorates for $H\rightarrow\frac{1}{2}$. In this paper we introduce a new (modified Euler) approximation scheme which is closer to the classical Euler scheme for Stratonovich SDEs for $H=\frac{1}{2}$, and it has the rate of convergence $γ_n^{-1}$, where $γ_n=n^{2H-{1}/2}$ when $H<\frac{3}{4}$, $γ_n=n/\sqrt{\log n}$ when $H=\frac{3}{4}$ and $γ_n=n$ if $H>\frac{3}{4}$. Furthermore, we study the asymptotic behavior of the fluctuations of the error. More precisely, if $\{X_t,0\le t\le T\}$ is the solution of a SDE driven by a fBm and if $\{X_t^n,0\le t\le T\}$ is its approximation obtained by the new modified Euler scheme, then we prove that $γ_n(X^n-X)$ converges stably to the solution of a linear SDE driven by a matrix-valued Brownian motion, when $H\in(\frac{1}{2},\frac{3}{4}]$. In the case $H>\frac{3}{4}$, we show the $L^p$ convergence of $n(X^n_t-X_t)$, and the limiting process is identified as the solution of a linear SDE driven by a matrix-valued Rosenblatt process. The rate of weak convergence is also deduced for this scheme. We also apply our approach to the naive Euler scheme.

Regularity and strict positivity of densities for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and regularity of the density of the solution to a semilinear stochastic (fractional) heat equation with measure-valued initial conditions. Under a mild cone condition for the diffusion coefficient, we establish the smooth joint density at multiple points. The tool we use is Malliavin calculus. The main ingredient is to prove that the solutions to a related stochastic partial differential equation have negative moments of all orders. Because we cannot prove $u(t,x)\in \mathbb{D}^\infty$ for measure-valued initial data, we need a localized version of Malliavin calculus. Furthermore, we prove that the (joint) density is strictly positive in the interior of the support of the law, where we allow both measure-valued initial data and unbounded diffusion coefficient. The criteria introduced by Bally and Pardoux [1] are no longer applicable for the parabolic Anderson model. We have extended their criteria to a localized version. Our general framework includes the parabolic Anderson model as a special case.

Spatial asymptotics for the parabolic Anderson model driven by a Gaussian rough noise

The aim of this paper is to establish the almost sure asymptotic behavior as the space variable becomes large, for the solution to the one spatial dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and which has the covariance structure of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than 1/4 and less than 1/2 in the space variable.

Weak symmetric integrals with respect to the fractional Brownian motion

The aim of this paper is to establish the weak convergence, in the topology of the Skorohod space, of the $ν$-symmetric Riemann sums for functionals of the fractional Brownian motion when the Hurst parameter takes the critical value $H=(4\ell+2)^{-1}$, where $\ell=\ell(ν)\geq 1$ is the largest natural number satisfying $\int_0^1 α^{2j}ν(dα)=(2j+1)^{-1}$ for all $j=0,\ldots,\ell-1$. As a consequence, we derive a change-of-variable formula in distribution, where the correction term is a stochastic integral with respect to a Brownian motion that is independent of the fractional Brownian motion.

Young Differential Equations with Power Type Nonlinearities

In this note we give several methods to construct nontrivial solutions to the equation $dy_{t}=σ(y_{t}) \, dx_{t}$, where $x$ is a $γ$-Hölder $R^{d}$-valued signal with $γ\in(1/2,1)$ and $σ$ is a function behaving like a power function $|ξ|^κ$, with $κ\in(0,1)$. In this situation, classical Young integration techniques allow to get existence and uniqueness results whenever $γ(κ+1)>1$, while we focus on cases where $γ(κ+1)\le 1$. Our analysis then relies on some extensions of Young's integral allowing to cover the situation at hand.

Decomposition and limit theorems for a class of self-similar Gaussian processes

We introduce a new class of self-similar Gaussian stochastic processes, where the covariance is defined in terms of a fractional Brownian motion and another Gaussian process. A special case is the solution in time to the fractional-colored stochastic heat equation described in Tudor (2013). We prove that the process can be decomposed into a fractional Brownian motion (with a different parameter than the one that defines the covariance), and a Gaussian process first described in Lei and Nualart (2008). The component processes can be expressed as stochastic integrals with respect to the Brownian sheet. We then prove a central limit theorem about the Hermite variations of the process.

Density convergence in the Breuer-Major theorem for Gaussian stationary sequences

Consider a Gaussian stationary sequence with unit variance $X=\{X_k;k\in {\mathbb{N}}\cup\{0\}\}$. Assume that the central limit theorem holds for a weighted sum of the form $V_n=n^{-1/2}\sum^{n-1}_{k=0}f(X_k)$, where $f$ designates a finite sum of Hermite polynomials. Then we prove that the uniform convergence of the density of $V_n$ towards the standard Gaussian density also holds true, under a mild additional assumption involving the causal representation of $X$.

Nonlinear stochastic time-fractional slow and fast diffusion equations on $\mathbb{R}^d$

This paper studies the nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional orders both in space and time variables: \[ \left(\partial^β+\fracν{2}(-Δ)^{α/2}\right)u(t,x) = I_t^γ\left[ρ(u(t,x))\dot{W}(t,x)\right],\quad t>0,\: x\in\mathbb{R}^d, \] where $\dot{W}$ is the space-time white noise, $α\in(0,2]$, $β\in(0,2)$, $γ\ge 0$ and $ν>0$. Fundamental solutions and their properties, in particular the nonnegativity, are derived. The existence and uniqueness of solution together with the moment bounds of the solution are obtained under Dalang's condition: $d<2α+\fracαβ\min(2γ-1,0)$. In some cases, the initial data can be measures. When $β\in (0,1]$, we prove the sample path regularity of the solution.

On L2 modulus of continuity of Brownian local times and Riesz potentials

This article is concerned with modulus of continuity of Brownian local times. Specifically, we focus on 3 closely related problems: (a) Limit theorem for a Brownian modulus of continuity involving Riesz potentials, where the limit law is an intricate Gaussian mixture. (b) Central limit theorems for the projections of L2 modulus of continuity for a 1-dimensional Brownian motion. (c) Extension of the second result to a 2-dimensional Brownian motion. Our proofs rely on a combination of stochastic calculus and Malliavin calculus tools, plus a thorough analysis of singular integrals.

On the $\frac{1}{H}$-variation of the divergence integral with respect to fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H < 1/2$

In this paper, we study the $\frac{1}{H}$-variation of stochastic divergence integrals $X_t = \int_0^t u_s δB_s$ with respect to a fractional Brownian motion $B$ with Hurst parameter $H < \frac{1}{2}$. Under suitable assumptions on the process u, we prove that the $\frac{1}{H}$-variation of $X$ exists in $L^1(Ω)$ and is equal to $e_H \int_0^T|u_s|^H ds$, where $e_H = \mathbb{E}|B_1|^H$. In the second part of the paper, we establish an integral representation for the fractional Bessel Process $\|B_t\|$, where $B_t$ is a $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H < \frac{1}{2}$. Using a multidimensional version of the result on the $\frac{1}{H}$-variation of divergence integrals, we prove that if $2dH^2 > 1$, then the divergence integral in the integral representation of the fractional Bessel process has a $\frac{1}{H}$-variation equals to a multiple of the Lebesgue measure.

On the intermittency front of stochastic heat equation driven by colored noises

We study the propagation of high peaks (intermittency front) of the solution to a stochastic heat equation driven by multiplicative centered Gaussian noise in $\mathbb{R}^d$. The noise is assumed to have a general homogeneous covariance in both time and space, and the solution is interpreted in the senses of the Wick product. We give some estimates for the upper and lower bounds of the propagation speed, based on a moment formula of the solution. When the space covariance is given by a Riesz kernel, we give more precise bounds for the propagation speed.

Stochastic heat equation with rough dependence in space

This paper studies the nonlinear one-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and which has the covariance of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter 1/4\textless{}H\textless{}1/2 in the space variable. The existence and uniqueness of the solution u are proved assuming the nonlinear coefficient is differentiable with a Lipschitz derivative and vanishes at 0. In the case of a multiplicative noise, that is the linear equation, we derive the Wiener chaos expansion of the solution and a Feynman-Kac formula for the moments of the solution. These results allow us to establish sharp lower and upper asymptotic bounds for the moments of the solution.

Taylor schemes for rough differential equations and fractional diffusions

In this paper, we study two variations of the time discrete Taylor schemes for rough differential equations and for stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motions. One is the incomplete Taylor scheme which excludes some terms of an Taylor scheme in its recursive computation so as to reduce the computation time. The other one is to add some deterministic terms to an incomplete Taylor scheme to improve the mean rate of convergence. Almost sure rate of convergence and $L_p$-rate of convergence are obtained for the incomplete Taylor schemes. Almost sure rate is expressed in terms of the Hölder exponents of the driving signals and the $L_p$-rate is expressed by the Hurst parameters. Both rates involves with the incomplete Taylor scheme in a very explicit way and then provide us with the best incomplete schemes, depending on that one needs the almost sure convergence or one needs $L_p$-convergence. As in the smooth case, general Taylor schemes are always complicated to deal with. The incomplete Taylor scheme is even more sophisticated to analyze. A new feature of our approach is the explicit expression of the error functions which will be easier to study. Estimates for multiple integrals and formulas for the iterated vector fields are obtained to analyze the error functions and then to obtain the rates of convergence.

Two-point correlation function and Feynman-Kac formula for the stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we obtain an explicit formula for the two-point correlation function for the solutions to the stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}$. The bounds for $p$-th moments proved in [3] are simplified. We validate the Feynman-Kac formula for the $p$-point correlation function of the solutions to this equation with measure-valued initial data.

Asymptotics of weighted random sums

In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of weighted random sums when the sum process converges stably in law to a Brownian motion and the weight process has continuous trajectories, more regular than that of a Brownian motion. We show that these sums converge in law to the integral of the weight process with respect to the Brownian motion when the distance between observations goes to zero. The result is obtained with the help of fractional calculus showing the power of this technique. This study, though interesting by itself, is motivated by an error found in the proof of Theorem 4 in Corcuera, J.M. Nualart, D., Woerner, J. H. C. (2006). On optimal mean-field type control problems of stochastic systems with jump processes under partial information

This paper considers the problem of partially observed optimal control for forward stochastic systems which are driven by Brownian motions and an independent Poisson random measure with a feature that the cost functional is of mean-field type. When all the system coefficients and the objective performance functionals are allowed to be random, possibly non-Markovian, Malliavin calculus is employed to derive a maximum principle for the optimal control of such a system where the adjointprocess is explicitly expressed. We also investigate the mean-field type optimal control problems for systems driven by mean-field type stochastic differential equations (SDEs in short) with jump processes, in which the coefficients contain not only the state process but also its marginal distribution under partially observed information. The maximum principle is established using convex variational technique with an illustrating example about linear-quadratic optimal control.

On Simpson's rule and fractional Brownian motion with H = 1/10

We consider stochastic integration with respect to fractional Brownian motion (fBm) with $H < 1/2$. The integral is constructed as the limit, where it exists, of a sequence of Riemann sums. A theorem by Gradinaru, Nourdin, Russo & Vallois (2005) holds that a sequence of Simpson's rule Riemann sums converges in probability for a sufficiently smooth integrand $f$ and when the stochastic process is fBm with $H > 1/10$. For the case $H = 1/10$, we prove that the sequence of sums converges in distribution. Consequently, we have an Itô-like formula for the resulting stochastic integral. The convergence in distribution follows from a Malliavin calculus theorem that first appeared in Nourdin and Nualart (2010).

On the eigenvalue process of a matrix fractional Brownian motion

We investigate the process of eigenvalues of a symmetric matrix-valued process which upper diagonal entries are independent one-dimensional Hölder continuous Gaussian processes of order gamma in (1/2,1). Using the stochastic calculus with respect to the Young's integral we show that these eigenvalues do not collide at any time with probability one. When the matrix process has entries that are fractional Brownian motions with Hurst parameter H in (1/2,1), we find a stochastic differential equation in a Malliavin calculus sense for the eigenvalues of the corresponding matrix fractional Brownian motion. A new generalized version of the Itô formula for the multidimensional fractional Brownian motion is first established.

Smoothness of the joint density for spatially homogeneous SPDEs

In this paper we consider a general class of second order stochastic partial differential equations on $\mathbb{R}^d$ driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and it has a homogeneous spatial covariance. Using the techniques of Malliavin calculus we derive the smoothness of the density of the solution at a fixed number of points $(t,x_1), \dots, (t,x_n)$, $t>0$, assuming some suitable regularity and non degeneracy assumptions. We also prove that the density is strictly positive in the interior of the support of the law.

Stochastic heat equations with general multiplicative Gaussian noises: Hölder continuity and intermittency

This paper studies the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative noises of the form uW, where W is a mean zero Gaussian noise and the differential element uW is interpreted both in the sense of Skorohod and Stratonovich. The existence and uniqueness of the solution are studied for noises with general time and spatial covariance structure. Feynman-Kac formulas for the solutions and for the moments of the solutions are obtained under general and different conditions. These formulas are applied to obtain the Hölder continuity of the solutions. They are also applied to obtain the intermittency bounds for the moments of the solutions.

Strong asymptotic independence on Wiener chaos

Let $F_n = (F_{1,n}, ....,F_{d,n})$, $n\geq 1$, be a sequence of random vectors such that, for every $j=1,...,d$, the random variable $F_{j,n}$ belongs to a fixed Wiener chaos of a Gaussian field. We show that, as $n\to\infty$, the components of $F_n$ are asymptotically independent if and only if ${\rm Cov}(F_{i,n}^2,F_{j,n}^2)\to 0$ for every $i\neq j$. Our findings are based on a novel inequality for vectors of multiple Wiener-Itô integrals, and represent a substantial refining of criteria for asymptotic independence in the sense of moments recently established by Nourdin and Rosinski.

The determinant of the iterated Malliavin matrix and the density of a couple of multiple integrals

The aim of this paper is to show an estimate for the determinant of the covariance of a two-dimensional vector of multiple stochastic integrals of the same order in terms of a linear combination of the expectation of the determinant of its iterated Malliavin matrices. As an application we show that the vector is absolutely continuous if and only if its components are proportional.

Absolute continuity and convergence of densities for random vectors on Wiener chaos

The aim of this paper is to establish some new results on the absolute continuity and the convergence in total variation for a sequence of d-dimensional vectors whose components belong to a finite sum of Wiener chaoses. First we show that the probability that the determinant of the Malliavin matrix of such vectors vanishes is zero or one, and this probability equals to one is equivalent to say that the vector takes values in the set of zeros of a polynomial. We provide a bound for the degree of this annihilating polynomial improving a result by Kusuoka. On the other hand, we show that the convergence in law implies the convergence in total variation, extending to the multivariate case a recent result by Nourdin and Poly. This follows from an inequality relating the total variation distance with the Fortet-Mourier distance. Finally, applications to some particular cases are discussed.

Central limit theorem for a Stratonovich integral with Malliavin calculus

The purpose of this paper is to establish the convergence in law of the sequence of "midpoint" Riemann sums for a stochastic process of the form f'(W), where W is a Gaussian process whose covariance function satisfies some technical conditions. As a consequence we derive a change-of-variable formula in law with a second order correction term which is an Itô integral of f''(W) with respect to a Gaussian martingale independent of W. The proof of the convergence in law is based on the techniques of Malliavin calculus and uses a central limit theorem for q-fold Skorohod integrals, which is a multi-dimensional extension of a result proved by Nourdin and Nualart [J. Theoret. Probab. 23 (2010) 39-64]. The results proved in this paper are generalizations of previous work by Swanson [Ann. Probab. 35 (2007) 2122-2159] and Nourdin and Réveillac [Ann. Probab. 37 (2009) 2200-2230], who found a similar formula for two particular types of bifractional Brownian motion. We provide three examples of Gaussian processes W that meet the necessary covariance bounds. The first one is the bifractional Brownian motion with parameters $H\le1/2$, HK=1/4. The others are Gaussian processes recently studied by Swanson [Probab. Theory Related Fields 138 (2007) 269-304], [Ann. Probab. 35 (2007) 2122-2159] in connection with the fluctuation of empirical quantiles of independent Brownian motion. In the first example the Gaussian martingale is a Brownian motion, and expressions are given for the other examples.

Convergence of densities of some functionals of Gaussian processes

The aim of this paper is to establish the uniform convergence of the densities of a sequence of random variables, which are functionals of an underlying Gaussian process, to a normal density. Precise estimates for the uniform distance are derived by using the techniques of Malliavin calculus, combined with Stein's method for normal approximation. We need to assume some non-degeneracy conditions. First, the study is focused on random variables in a fixed Wiener chaos, and later, the results are extended to the uniform convergence of the derivatives of the densities and to the case of random vectors in some fixed chaos, which are uniformly non-degenerate in the sense of Malliavin calculus. Explicit upper bounds for the uniform norm are obtained for random variables in the second Wiener chaos, and an application to the convergence of densities of the least square estimator for the drift parameter in Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes is discussed.

Fisher Information and the Fourth Moment Theorem

Using a representation of the score function by means of the divergence operator we exhibit a sufficient condition, in terms of the negative moments of the norm of the Malliavin derivative, under which convergence in Fisher information to the standard Gaussian of sequences belonging to a given Wiener chaos is actually equivalent to convergence of only the fourth moment. Thus, our result may be considered as a further building block associated to the recent but already rich literature dedicated to the Fourth Moment Theorem of Nualart and Peccati. To illustrate the power of our approach we prove a local limit theorem together with some rates of convergence for the normal convergence of a standardized version of the quadratic variation of the fractional Brownian motion.

On Hölder continuity of the solution of stochastic wave equations

In this paper, we study the stochastic wave equations in the spatial dimension 3 driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and correlated in space. Our main concern is the sample path Hölder continuity of the solution both in time variable and in space variables. The conditions are given either in terms of the mean Hölder continuity of the covariance function or in terms of its spectral measure. Some examples of the covariance functions are proved to satisfy our conditions, which include the case of the work \cite{dalang4}. In particular, we obtain the Hölder continuity results for the solution of the stochastic wave equations driven by (space inhomogeneous) fractional Brownian noises. For this particular noise, the optimality of the obtained Hölder exponents is also discussed.

A nonlinear stochastic heat equation: Hölder continuity and smoothness of the density of the solution

In this paper, we establish a version of the Feynman-Kac formula for multidimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a general semimartingale. This Feynman-Kac formula is then applied to study some nonlinear stochastic heat equations driven by nonhomogenous Gaussian noise: First, it is obtained an explicit expression for the Malliavin derivatives of the solutions. Based on the representation we obtain the smooth property of the density of the law of the solution. On the other hand, we also obtain the Hölder continuity of the solutions.

CLT for an iterated integral with respect to fBm with H > 1/2

We construct an iterated stochastic integral with fractional Brownian motion with H > 1/2. The first integrand is a deterministic function, and each successive integral is with respect to an independent fBm. We show that this symmetric stochastic integral is equal to the Malliavin divergence integral. By a version of the Fourth Moment theorem of Nualart and Peccati, we show that a family of such integrals converges in distribution to a scaled Brownian motion. An application is an approximation to the windings for a planar fBm, previously studied by Baudoin and Nualart.

Feynman--Kac formula for the heat equation driven by fractional noise with Hurst parameter $H<1/2$

In this paper, a Feynman-Kac formula is established for stochastic partial differential equation driven by Gaussian noise which is, with respect to time, a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H<1/2$. To establish such a formula, we introduce and study a nonlinear stochastic integral from the given Gaussian noise. To show the Feynman--Kac integral exists, one still needs to show the exponential integrability of nonlinear stochastic integral. Then, the approach of approximation with techniques from Malliavin calculus is used to show that the Feynman-Kac integral is the weak solution to the stochastic partial differential equation.

Joint convergence along different subsequences of the signed cubic variation of fractional Brownian motion

The purpose of this paper is to study the convergence in distribution of two subsequences of the signed cubic variation of the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H=1/6$. We prove that, under some conditions on both subsequences, the limit is a two-dimensional Brownian motion whose components may be correlated and we find explicit formulae for its covariance function.

Malliavin calculus for backward stochastic differential equations and application to numerical solutions

In this paper we study backward stochastic differential equations with general terminal value and general random generator. In particular, we do not require the terminal value be given by a forward diffusion equation. The randomness of the generator does not need to be from a forward equation, either. Motivated from applications to numerical simulations, first we obtain the $L^p$-Hölder continuity of the solution. Then we construct several numerical approximation schemes for backward stochastic differential equations and obtain the rate of convergence of the schemes based on the obtained $L^p$-Hölder continuity results. The main tool is the Malliavin calculus.

Weak convergence of the Stratonovich integral with respect to a class of Gaussian processes

For a Gaussian process $X$ and smooth function $f$, we consider a Stratonovich integral of $f(X)$, defined as the weak limit, if it exists, of a sequence of Riemann sums. We give covariance conditions on $X$ such that the sequence converges in law. This gives a change-of-variable formula in law with a correction term which is an Itô integral of $f"'$ with respect to a Gaussian martingale independent of $X$. The proof uses Malliavin calculus and a central limit theorem from [10]. This formula was known for fBm with $H=1/6$ [9]. We extend this to a larger class of Gaussian processes.

A construction of the rough path above fractional Brownian motion using Volterra's representation

This note is devoted to construct a rough path above a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion $B$ with any Hurst parameter $H\in(0,1)$, by means of its representation as a Volterra Gaussian process. This approach yields some algebraic and computational simplifications with respect to [Stochastic Process. Appl. 120 (2010) 1444--1472], where the construction of a rough path over $B$ was first introduced.

Hölder Continuity of the Solution for a Class of Nonlinear SPDE Arising from One Dimensional Superprocesses

The Hölder continuity of the solution to a nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation arising from one dimensional super process is obtained. It is proved that the Hölder exponent in time variable is as close as to 1/4, improving the result of 1/10 in a recent paper by Li et al [3]. The method is to use the Malliavin calculus. The Hölder continuity in spatial variable x of exponent 1/2 is also obtained by using this new approach. This Hölder continuity result is sharp since the corresponding linear heat equation has the same Hölder continuity.

Feynman-Kac formula for heat equation driven by fractional white noise

We establish a version of the Feynman-Kac formula for the multidimensional stochastic heat equation with a multiplicative fractional Brownian sheet. We use the techniques of Malliavin calculus to prove that the process defined by the Feynman-Kac formula is a weak solution of the stochastic heat equation. From the Feynman-Kac formula, we establish the smoothness of the density of the solution and the Hölder regularity in the space and time variables. We also derive a Feynman-Kac formula for the stochastic heat equation in the Skorokhod sense and we obtain the Wiener chaos expansion of the solution.

Limit theorems for nonlinear functionals of Volterra processes via white noise analysis

By means of white noise analysis, we prove some limit theorems for nonlinear functionals of a given Volterra process. In particular, our results apply to fractional Brownian motion (fBm) and should be compared with the classical convergence results of the 1980s due to Breuer, Dobrushin, Giraitis, Major, Surgailis and Taqqu, as well as the recent advances concerning the construction of a Lévy area for fBm due to Coutin, Qian and Unterberger.

Stochastic Differential Equations Driven by Fractional Brownian Motion and Standard Brownian Motion

We prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for solutions of multidimensional, time dependent, stochastic differential equations driven simultaneously by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H>1/2 and a multidimensional standard Brownian motion. The proof relies on some a priori estimates, which are obtained using the methods of fractional integration, and the classical Ito stochastic calculus. The existence result is based on the Yamada-Watanabe theorem.
