Axial-vector transition form factors of the baryon octet to the baryon decuplet with flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking

We investigate the axial-vector transition form factors of the baryon octet to the baryon decuplet within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model, with the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking included. We consider the rotational $1/N_c$ corrections and regard the strange current quark mass as a perturbation. We compare the present results for the $Δ\to N$ axial-vector transition with those from other models and lattice QCD. We also compute all possible axial-vector transitions from the baryon decuplet to the octet with the strangeness changed, i.e., $|ΔS|=1$. We obtain the value of the essential form factor $C_5^A$ for the $Δ\to N$ axial-vector transition at the zero momentum transfer ($Q^2=0$). Furthermore, the present results are in good agreement with those fitted with the T2K data. We extract the value of the axial-vector mass $M_A$ compared to the data.

Medium modification of the nucleon mechanical properties: Abel tomography case

We investigate how the gravitational form factors of the nucleon undergo changes in nuclear matter, emphasizing the Abel transformation from the three-dimensional (3D) Breit frame to the two-dimensional (2D) light-front frame. Since the gravitational form factors reveal the mechanical structure of the nucleon, we examine also the medium modifications of the energy-momentum, pressure, and shear-force distributions. We scrutinize the stabilities of the nucleon in nuclear matter. For this purpose, we employ the in-medium modified SU(2) Skyrme model to study these mechanical quantities of the nucleon, since it provides a simple but clear framework. In this in-medium modified SU(2) Skyrme model, the modification of pionic properties is performed by using low-energy pion-nucleus scattering data and the saturation properties of nuclear matter near the normal nuclear matter density, $ρ_0=0.5m_π^3$. The results reveal how the nucleon swells in nuclear matter as the mass distribution of the nucleon is broadened in medium. We also show that the mean square radii corresponding to the mass and angular momentum distributions increase in nuclear medium. This feature is kept both in 3D and 2D cases. We visualize how the strong force fields inside the nucleon in the 2D plane are distributed and illustrate how these forces undergo change in nuclear matter.

Structure of the $Ω$ baryon and the kaon cloud

We investigate the effects of the kaon cloud on the electromagnetic and axial-vector form factors of the $Ω^-$ baryon within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model. We first derive the profile function of the chiral soliton in such a way that the kaon Yukawa tail is properly produced self-consistently. Then, we compute the electromagnetic form factors of the $Ω^-$ baryon. The results for the electromagnetic form factors are compared with the lattice data. We find that the results with the kaon tail employed are in better agreement with the lattice data, compared with those obtained with the pion tail. We also study the axial-vector form factors of the $Ω^-$ baryon, examining the effects of the kaon cloud.

Triple Regge exchange and transverse single-spin asymmetries of the very forward neutral pion production in polarized $p+p$ collisions

Recently, the RHICf Collaboration measured the transverse single-spin asymmetries of the very forward neutral pion in polarized $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=510$ GeV, produced at large pseudorapidity ($η\gtrsim 6$). The data show large asymmetries both in longitudinal momentum fraction $x_F$ and transverse momentum $p_T$ at $p_T<1\,\mathrm{GeV}/c$. Employing baryonic triple Regge exchanges, we describe the complete RHICf data for the first time and show that the neutral pion production at low $p_T$ can be interpreted as a diffractive one.

Singly heavy baryons in nuclear matter from an SU(3) chiral soliton model

We investigate how the masses of the singly heavy baryons undergo changes in nuclear matter, based on a medium-modified SU(3) chiral soliton model. Having explained the bulk properties of nuclear matter, we discuss the masses of the singly heavy baryons in nuclear matter. We generalize the vector-meson Lagrangian including the heavy-meson soliton interaction. The mass spectrum of the singly heavy baryon are obtained with the effects of explicit SU(3) symmetry breaking considered as a perturbation. The results show that the mass of the singly heavy baryon mass in nuclear medium is rather sensitive to the medium modifications of the heavy meson mass.

Axial-vector form factors of the baryon decuplet with flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking

The axial-vector form factors and axial-vector constants of the baryon decuplet are investigated within a pion mean-field approach, which is also known as the chiral quark-soliton model. Given an axial-vector current with a specified flavor, there are four different form factors of a decuplet baryon. When we consider the singlet, triplet, and octet axial-vector currents, we have twelve different form factors for each member of the baryon decuplet. We compute all these axial-vector form factors of the baryon decuplet, taking into account the rotational $1/N_c$ corrections and effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. We find that, for a given flavor, two of the form factors for a decuplet baryon are only independent within the present approach. We first examine properties of the axial-vector form factors of the $Δ^+$ isobar and $Ω^-$ hyperon. We also compare the results of the triplet axial-vector form factors of $Δ^+$ with those from lattice QCD and those of the present work for the axial-vector constants of the baryon decuplet with the lattice data. All the results for other members of the baryon decuplet are then presented. The results of the axial charges are compared with those of other works. The axial masses and axial radii are also discussed.

Electric quadrupole form factors of singly heavy baryons with spin 3/2

We study the electromagnetic form factors of the lowest-lying singly heavy baryons in a pion mean-field approach, which is also known as the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model. In the limit of the heavy-quark mass, the dynamics inside a singly heavy baryon is governed by the $N_c-1$ valence quarks, while the heavy quark remains as a mere static color source. In this framework, a singly heavy baryon is described by combining the colored soliton with the singly heavy quark. In the infinitely heavy-quark mass limit, we can compute the electric quadrupole form factors of the baryon sextet with spin 3/2 with the rotational $1/N_c$ and linear corrections of the explicit flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking taken into account. We find that the sea-quark contributions or the Dirac-sea level contributions dominate over the valence-quark contributions in lower $Q^2$ region. We examined the effects of explicit flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking in detail. The numerical results are also compared with the recent data from the lattice calculation with the unphysical value of the pion mass considered, which was used in the lattice calculation.

Feasibility study of the $K^{+} d \to K^{0} p p$ reaction for the "$Θ^{+}$" pentaquark

We investigate theoretically the $K^{0} p$ invariant mass spectrum of the $K^{+} d \to K^{0} p p$ reaction and scrutinize how the signal of the "$Θ^{+}$" pentaquark, if it exists, emerges in the $K^{0} p$ spectrum. The most prominent advantage of this reaction is that we can clearly judge whether the "$Θ^{+}$" exists or not as a direct-formation production without significant backgrounds, in contrast to other reactions such as photoproduction and $π$-induced productions. We show that while the impulse or single-step scattering process can cover the "$Θ^{+}$" energy region with an initial kaon momentum $k_{\mathrm{lab}} \approx 0.40\, \mathrm{GeV} / c$ in the laboratory frame, the contributions from double-step processes may have a potential possibility to reach the "$Θ^{+}$" energy region with a higher kaon momentum $k_{\mathrm{lab}} \sim 1 \, \mathrm{GeV} / c$. Assuming that the full decay width of the "$Θ^{+}$" is around $0.5\, \mathrm{MeV}$, we predict that the magnitude of the peak corresponding to the "$Θ^+$" is around a few hundred $μ\mathrm{b}$ to $1\, \mathrm{mb}$ with the momentum of the kaon beam $k_{\mathrm{lab}} \approx 0.40\, \mathrm{GeV} / c$ while it is around $\lesssim 1\, μ\mathrm{b}$ with $k_{\mathrm{lab}} \approx 0.85\, \mathrm{GeV} / c$. Thus, the "$Θ^+$" peak is more likely to be seen at $k_{\mathrm{lab}} \approx 0.40\, \mathrm{GeV} / c$ than at $k_{\mathrm{lab}} \approx 0.85 \,\mathrm{GeV} / c$.

Heavy baryon production with an instanton interaction

We propose a new reaction mechanism for the study of strange and charmed baryon productions. In this mechanism we consider the correlation of two quarks in baryons, so it can be called the two-quark process. As in the previously studied one-quark process, we find large production rates for charmed baryons in comparison with strange baryons. Moreover, the new mechanism causes the excitation of both the $ρ$ mode and the $λ$ mode. Using the wave functions for baryons from a quark model, we compute the production rates of various baryon states. We find that the production rates reflect the structure of the wave functions that imply the usefulness of the reactions for the study of baryon structures.

Improved pion mean fields and masses of singly heavy baryons

A singly heavy baryon can be viewed as $N_c-1$ ($N_c$ as the number of colors) light valence quarks bound by the pion mean fields that are created by the presence of the $N_c-1$ valence quarks self-consistently, while the heavy quark inside a singly heavy baryon is regarded as a static color source. We investigate how the pion mean fields are created by the presence of $N_c$, $N_c-1$, and $N_c-2$ light valence quarks, which correspond to the systems of light baryons, singly heavy baryons, and doubly heavy baryons. As the number of color decreases from $N_c$ to $N_c-1$, the pion mean fields undergo changes. As a result, the valence-quark contributions to the moments of inertia of the soliton become larger than the case of the $N_c$ valence quarks, whereas the sea-quark contributions decrease systematically. On the other hand, the presence of the $N_c-2$ valence quarks is not enough to produce the strong pion mean fields, which leads to the fact that the classical soliton can not be formed. It indicates that the pion mean-field approach is not suitable to describe doubly heavy baryons. We show that the mass spectra of the singly heavy baryons are better described by the improved pion mean fields, compared with the previous work in which the pion mean fields are assumed to be intact with $N_c$ varied.

Isospin mass differences of singly heavy baryons

We study the isospin mass differences of singly heavy baryons, based on a pion mean-field approach. We consider both the electromagnetic interactions and the hadronic contributions that arise from the mass difference of the up and down quarks. The relevant parameters have been already fixed by the baryon octet. In addition, we introduce the strong hyperfine interactions between the light quarks inside a chiral soliton and the Coulomb interactions between the chiral soliton and a heavy quark. The numerical results are in good agreement with the experimental data. In particular, the results for the neutral mass relations, which contain only the electromagnetic contributions, are in remarkable agreement with the data, which implies that the pion mean field approach provides a good description of the singly heavy baryons.

Strong force fields and stabilities of the nucleon and singly heavy baryon $Σ_c$

We investigate the strong force fields and stabilities of the nucleon and the singly heavy baryon $Σ_c$ within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model. Having constructed the pion mean fields in the presence of the $N_c-1$ level quarks self-consistently, we are able to examine the gravitational form factors of $Σ_c$. We mainly focus in the present work on the stability conditions for both the nucleon and $Σ_c$ and discuss the strong force fields and their physical implications. We also present the results for the gravitational form factors and relevant observables, emphasising the difference between the nucleon and $Σ_c$.

The $σ$ and $ρ$ coupling constants for the charmed and beauty mesons

We investigate the $σ$ and $ρ$ coupling constants for the $DD$ and $D^*D^*$ interactions, based on correlated $2π$ exchange in the $DD$ and $D^*D^*$ interactions. Starting from the $D\bar{D}\to ππ$ and $D^*\bar{D}^*\to ππ$ amplitudes derived in the pseudophysical region ($4m_π^2\le t \le 52m_π^2$) with the $S$- and $P$-wave $2π$ correlations considered, we obtain the spectral functions for the $DD\to DD$ and $D^*D^*\to D^*D^*$ amplitude with correlated $S$- and $P$-wave $2π$ exchanges. Using the pole approximation, we estimate the $DDσ$, $DDρ$, $D^*D^*σ$, and $D^*D^*ρ$ coupling constants. We extended phenomenologically the present results to the region in $t\le 0$ and compare them with those from lattice QCD. The results are also compared with those of other models. We also present the results of the $BBσ$, $BBρ$, $B^*B^*σ$, and $B^*B^*ρ$ coupling constants. We observe that it is unlikely that the $σ$ and $ρ$ coupling constants for the $B$ and $B^*$ mesons are the same as those for the $D$ and $D^*$ mesons. On the contrary, they are quite larger than those for the charmed mesons.

$K^0Λ$ Photoproduction with Nucleon Resonances

We investigate the reaction mechanism of $K^0 Λ$ photoproduction off the neutron target, i.e., $γn \to K^0 Λ$, in the range of $W\approx 1.6-2.2$ GeV. We employ an effective Lagrangian method at the tree-level Born approximation combining with a Regge approach. As a background, the $K^*$-Reggeon trajectory is taken into account in the $t$ channel and $Λ$ and $Σ$ hyperons in the $u$-channel Feynman diagram. In addition, the role of various nucleon resonances listed in the Particle Data Group (PDG) is carefully scrutinized in the $s$ channel where the resonance parameters are extracted from the experimental data and constituent quark model. We present our numerical results of the total and differential cross sections and compare them with the recent CLAS data. The effect of the narrow nucleon resonance $N(1685,1/2^+)$ on cross sections is studied in detail and it turns out that its existence is essential in $K^0 Λ$ photoproduction to reproduce the CLAS data.

Strange and charmed baryon productions with an instanton interaction

We study strange and charmed baryon productions, ${π+ p \rightarrow K(D) + Y(Y_c)}$, where ${Y(Y_c)}$ is a strange(charmed) baryon of a ground or an excited state. We propose a new production mechanism where two quarks in the baryon participate in the reaction (two-quark process), which enables excitation of both $λ$- and $ρ$-modes of the baryons. To deal with the two-quark process, we consider the 't Hooft six-quark interaction from the instanton model. We study production rates in relation with the structure of charmed baryons for the forward angle scattering.

Structure of heavy baryons in a pion mean-field approach

In this talk, we briefly review a series of recent works on singly heavy baryons, based on a pion mean-field approach. In the limit of the infinitely heavy quark mass, heavy baryons are governed mainly by the light degress of freedom. Taking the number of colors to be infinity, a heavy baryon arises as a state consisting of $N_c-1$ valence quarks bound by the pion mean fields created self-consistently. Within this framework, we present the results of the mass spectra of the charmed and bottom baryons, and their magnetic moments. The behavior of the electromagnetic form factors will be also mentioned.

$K^0 Λ$ and $D^- Λ_c^+$ production induced by pion beams off the nucleon

We present a comparative study of the pion induced production of $K^0 Λ$ and $D^- Λ_c^+$ off the nucleon. A hybrid framework is utilized by combining an effective Lagrangian method with a Regge approach. We consider the $t$-channel process in a plannar diagram by vector-meson Reggeon exchanges and the $u$-channel one in a non-planar diagram by baryon Reggeon exchanges. The present model reproduces the $K^0 Λ$ production data well with a few parameters. Having fixed them, we predict the $D^- Λ_c^+$ production, which turns out to be about $10^4-10^6$ times smaller than the strangeness one, depending on the kinematical regions.

Bayesian Kernel and Mutual $k$-Nearest Neighbor Regression

We propose Bayesian extensions of two nonparametric regression methods which are kernel and mutual $k$-nearest neighbor regression methods. Derived based on Gaussian process models for regression, the extensions provide distributions for target value estimates and the framework to select the hyperparameters. It is shown that both the proposed methods asymptotically converge to kernel and mutual $k$-nearest neighbor regression methods, respectively. The simulation results show that the proposed methods can select proper hyperparameters and are better than or comparable to the former methods for an artificial data set and a real world data set.

Bayesian Model Selection Methods for Mutual and Symmetric $k$-Nearest Neighbor Classification

The $k$-nearest neighbor classification method ($k$-NNC) is one of the simplest nonparametric classification methods. The mutual $k$-NN classification method (M$k$NNC) is a variant of $k$-NNC based on mutual neighborship. We propose another variant of $k$-NNC, the symmetric $k$-NN classification method (S$k$NNC) based on both mutual neighborship and one-sided neighborship. The performance of M$k$NNC and S$k$NNC depends on the parameter $k$ as the one of $k$-NNC does. We propose the ways how M$k$NN and S$k$NN classification can be performed based on Bayesian mutual and symmetric $k$-NN regression methods with the selection schemes for the parameter $k$. Bayesian mutual and symmetric $k$-NN regression methods are based on Gaussian process models, and it turns out that they can do M$k$NN and S$k$NN classification with new encodings of target values (class labels). The simulation results show that the proposed methods are better than or comparable to $k$-NNC, M$k$NNC and S$k$NNC with the parameter $k$ selected by the leave-one-out cross validation method not only for an artificial data set but also for real world data sets.

Heavy pentaquark states $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ in the $J/ψ$ production induced by pion beams off the nucleon

In this study, we investigate the $J/ψ$ production induced by pion beams off the nucleon, particularly the heavy pentaquarks $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ in intermediate states, based on a hybridized Regge model. The process involving $ρ$ and $π$ meson exchange in the $t$ channel is considered as background, and the heavy pentaquark exchange is included in the $s$ channel. The coupling constants such as the $ρNN$ and $πNN$ vertices are taken from the $NN$ potentials, whereas those for the $J/ψρπ$ and $J/ψππ$ vertices are determined by using experimental data based on the branching ratios. In order to estimate the $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ coupling constants, we use the experimental upper limit on the total cross section as a guide for the $πN\to J/ψN$ reaction. The background total cross section is the order of $10^{-4}-10^{-3}$ nb. In the vicinity of the heavy pentaquark masses, the total cross section reaches about $1$ nb.

Pion mean fields and heavy baryons

We show that the masses of the lowest-lying heavy baryons can be very well described in a pion mean-field approach. We consider a heavy baryon as a system consisting of the $N_c-1$ light quarks that induce the pion mean field, and a heavy quark as a static color source under the influence of this mean field. In this approach we derive a number of \textit{model-independent} relations and calculate the heavy baryon masses using those of the lowest-lying light baryons as input. The results are in remarkable agreement with the experimental data. In addition, the mass of the $Ω_b^*$ baryon is predicted.

Hyperon Semileptonic decay constants with flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking

We investigate the hyperon semileptonic decay constants, $f_2/f_1$, and $g_1/f_1$, within a general framework of a chiral soliton model. All relevant parameters for the SU(3) baryon wave functions were unambiguously determined by using the experimental data for the masses of the baryon octet and the decuplet. Using then the existing experimental data for the magnetic moments of the baryon octet and the decay constants of hyperon semileptonic decays, we are able to determine all the hyperon semileptonic decay constants $f_2/f_1$ and $g_1/f_1$ of the baryon octet unequivocally. In addition, we also present the results of the axial-vector transition constants from the baryon decuplet to the octet.

Modification of generalized vector form factors and transverse charge densities of the nucleon in nuclear matter

We investigate the medium modification of the generalized vector form factors of the nucleon, which include the electromagnetic and energy-momentum tensor form factors, based on an in-medium modified $π$-$ρ$-$ω$ soliton model. We find that the vector form factors of the nucleon in nuclear matter fall off faster than those in free space, which implies that the charge radii of the nucleon become larger in nuclear medium than in free space. We also compute the corresponding transverse charge densities of the nucleon in nuclear matter, which clearly reveal the increasing of the nucleon size in nuclear medium.

The coupling constants have been etermined by assuming that the decay process $N^* \to (ππ)_{I=0,J=0}N$ can be regarded as $N^* \to f_0(500) N$. Pion Induced Reactions for the Study of Charmed Baryons

In this talk, we report the study of $π^- p \to K^{*0} Λ$ and $π^- p \to D^{*-} Λ_c^+$ reactions by using an effective Lagrangian method and a hybrid Regge model. The total and differential cross sections for the $K^{*0} Λ$ production are first calculated and then those for the $D^{*-} Λ_c^+$ one are estimated. The two models yield different results, each exhibiting specific features. Our prediction for the charm production provides valuable information about the upcoming J-PARC experiment.

Production of strange and charmed baryons in pion induced reactions

We study the strangeness and charm productions induced by the pion beam, i.e. the $π^-$p $\rightarrow$ $K^{*0}Λ$ and $π^-$p $\rightarrow$ $D^{*-}Λ_c^+$ reactions, based on two different theoretical frameworks: an effective Lagrangian method and a Regge approach. In order to estimate the magnitude of the charm production relative to that of the strangeness production, we assume that the coupling constants for the charmed meson and baryon vertices are the same as those for the strangeness channel. We found that the total cross section for the charm production was about $10^3 - 10^6$ times smaller than that for the strangeness production, depending on theoretical approaches and kinematical regions. We also discuss each contribution to observables for both reactions. In general, the Regge approach explains the experimental data very well over the whole energy region.

Weak $K\to π$ generalized form factors and transverse transition quark-spin density from the instanton vacuum

We investigate the generalized $K\to π$ transition vector and tensor form factors, from which we derive the transverse quark spin density in the course of the $K\toπ$ transition, based on the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum. The results of the transition tensor form factor are in good agreement with recent data of lattice QCD. The behavior of the transverse quark spin density of the $K\toπ$ transition turn out to be very similar to those of the pion and the kaon.

Effects of $N(2000)\, 5/2^+$, $N(2060)\,5/2^-$, $N(2120)\,3/2^-$, and $N(2190)\,7/2^-$ on $K^*Λ$ photoproduction

We reinvestigate $K^*Λ(1116)$ photoproduction off the nucleon target, based on an effective Lagrangian approach. We include higher nucleon resonances such as $N(2000)\, 5/2^+$, $N(2060)\,5/2^-$, $N(2120)\,3/2^-$, and $N(2190)\,7/2^-$, of which the data are taken from the 2012 edition of Review of Paritcle Physics, in addition to the $t$-channel diagrams ($K$, $K^*$, and $κ$), the $s$-channel nucleon, and $u$-channel hyperon($Λ$, $Σ$, and $Σ^*$) contributions. We find that the $N(2120)\,3/2^-$ and $N(2190)\,7/2^-$ resonances are essential in describing the new CLAS data for charged $K^*$ photoproduction. On the other hand, they rarely affect for neutral $K^*$ photoproduction.

Energy-momentum tensor form factors of the nucleon within a $π$-$ρ$-$ω$ soliton model

We investigate the energy-momentum tensor form factors of the nucleon within the famework of a chiral soliton model, including the $ρ$ and $ω$ vector mesons. Coupling constants for verteces of meson-octet baryons are fixed from the empirical data and/or quark models together with SU(3) symmetry considerations and these for meson-decouplet are predicted not only quark model but also Chiral-quark soliton model calculation. Pion induced Reactions for Charmed Baryons

First we estimate charm production rates in comparison with strangeness production using a Regge model which is dominated by vector ($D^*$ or $K^*$ ) Reggeon exchange. Then we examine the production rates of various charmed baryons $B$ in a quark-diquark model. We find that the production of excited states are not necessarily suppressed, a sharp contrast to strangeness production, which is a unique feature of the charm production with a large momentum transfer.

Stability of the pion and the pattern of chiral symmetry breaking

We investigate the pressure of the pion, which should be equal to zero to ensure the stability of the pion, within the framework of the chiral quark model beyond the chiral limit. The pressure of the pion turns out to vanish nontrivially by the Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relation within the present framework. It implies that the stability of the pion might be deeply rooted in spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. We also discuss physical quantities relevant to the energy-momentum tensor operator.

K*Sigma photoproduction off the proton target with baryon resonances

We investigate the photoproduction of K*0Sigma+ and K*+Sigma0 off the proton target, employing the effective Lagrangian approach at the tree-level Born approximation. In addition to the (s, t, u)-channel Born diagrams, we take into account various baryon-resonance contributions such as F15(2000), D13(2080), G17(2190), D15(2200), F35(2000), G37(2200), F37(2390), and Sigma*(1385, 3/2+) in a fully covariant manner. We present the numerical results for the energy and angular dependences for the cross sections in comparison to available experimental data. The single-polarization observables, i.e. the photon-beam, recoil and target baryon polarization asymmetries are computed as well for future experiments. We observe from the numerical results that the resonance contributions play a minor role in producing the strength of the cross sections, being different from the K*Lambda photoproduction. In contrast, it turns out that the Delta(1232)-pole contribution and strange-meson exchanges in the t-channel dominate the scattering process. On the other hand, the higher resonances influence the polarization observables such as the recoil and target asymmetries.

The numerical results for the total and differential cross sections are shown with the presently available data. It turns out that the contributions from the N* and Delta* resonances are almost negligible near the threshold energy. On the other hand, the effects of the K exchange in the t channel and Delta(1232) in the s channel are considerably larger than other ones in the scattering process, being in good agreement with the experimental data.

Transverse charge densities in the nucleon in nuclear matter

We investigated the transverse charge densities in the nucleon in nuclear matter within the framework of the in-medium modified Skyrme model. The medium modification of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors are first discussed. The results show that the form factors in nuclear matter fall off faster than those in free space, as the momentum transfer increases. As a result, the charge radii of the nucleon become larger, as the nuclear matter density increases. The transverse charge densities in the nucleon indicate that the size of the nucleon tends to bulge out in nuclear matter. This salient feature of the swelling is more clearly observed in the neutron case. When the proton is transversely polarized, the transverse charge densities exhibit the distortion due to the effects of the magnetization.

$Θ^+$ baryon, $N^* (1685)$ resonance, and $πN$ sigma term in the context of the LEPS and DIANA experiments

We reexamine properties of the baryon antidecuplet $Θ^+$ and $N^*$, and the $πN$ sigma term within the framework of a chiral soliton model, focusing on their dependence on the $Θ^+$ mass. It turns out that the measured value of the $N^*$ mass, $M_{N^*}=1686$ MeV, is consistent with that of the $Θ^+$ mass $M_{Θ^+}=1524$ MeV by the LEPS collaboration. The $N^*\to Nγ$ magnetic transition moments are almost independent of the $Θ^+$ mass. The ratio of the radiative decay width $Γ_{nn^*}$ to $Γ_{pp^*}$ turns out to be around 5. The decay width for $Θ^+\to NK$ is studied in the context of the LEPS and DIANA experiments. When the LEPS value of the $Θ^+$ mass is employed, we obtain $Γ_{ΘNK} =(0.5\pm0.1)$ MeV. The $πN$ sigma term is found to be almost independent of the $Θ^+$ mass. In addition, we derive a new expression for the $πN$ sigma term in terms of the isospin mass splittings of the hyperon octet as well as that of the antidecuplet $N^*$.

$ϕ$ photoprodution with coupled-channel effects

We study phi photoproduction with various hadronic rescattering contributions included, in addition to the Pomeron and pseudoscalar meson-exchange diagrams. We find that the hadronic box diagrams can explain the recent experimental data in the vicinity of the threshold. In particular, the bump-like structure at the photon energy E_gamma \approx 2.3$ GeV is well explained by the K Lambda(1520) rescattering amplitude in the intermediate state, which is the dominant contribution among other hadronic contributions. We also find that the hadronic box diagrams are consistent with the observed spin-density matrix elements near the threshold region.

Contribution of N* and Delta* resonances in K* Sigma(1190) photoproduction

In this talk, we report theoretical studies on the K*0 Sigma+(1190) photoproduction in the tree-level Born approximation, employing the effective Lagrangian method. We present the energy and angular dependences of the cross sections. It turns out that the N* and Delta* resonance contributions are negligible in the vicinity of the threshold. On the contrary, we observe that the kappa and K exchanges in the t channel and Delta(1232) in the s channel dominate the scattering process, reproducing the experimental data qualitatively well.

We investigate the spin structure of the kaon, based on the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum. We first revisit the electromagnetic form factors of the pion and kaon, improving the results for the kaon. We evaluate the generalized tensor form factors of the kaon in order to determine the probability density of transversely polarized quarks inside the kaon. We consider the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking, so that the probability density of the up and strange quarks are examined in detail. It is found that the strange quark behaves differently inside the kaon in comparison with the up quark.

In-medium modified $π$-$ρ$-$ω$ mesonic Lagrangian and properties of nuclear matter

We investigate the bulk properties of symmetric nuclear matter within the framework of an in-medium modified chiral solitonic model with $π$, $ρ$ and $ω$ mesons. We consider the modification of meson degrees of freedom in nuclear matter, based on phenomenology of pion-nucleus scattering and the empirical nuclear mass formula. We discuss the results of the density dependence of the volume term in the mass formula and the incompressibility of symmetric nuclear matter, comparing them with relativistic mean-field models. The mass dropping of the $ρ$ meson in nuclear matter is also obtained and discussed.

Mass splittings of SU(3) baryons within a chiral soliton model

Considering simultaneously isospin and SU(3) flavor symmetry breakings, we investigate the complete mass splittings of SU(3) baryons within a chiral soliton model, a {}"model-independent approach" being employed. In linear order several new mass relations are derived, which are mostly generalizations of existing mass formulae. The dynamical quantities appearing in the expressions for the masses are fixed by fitting them to the masses of the baryon octet and the masses of $Ω^{-}$ and $Θ^{+}$ as input rather than by extracting them from a calculated self-consistent soliton profile. In particular, the consideration of isospin symmetry breaking allows us to use the experimental data of the whole octet baryon masses as input. We predict the masses of the baryon decuplet and antidecuplet without any further adjustable free parameter. In addition, we also obtain the pion-nucleon sigma term which turns out to be $Σ_{πN} = 36.4\pm3.9\,\mathrm{MeV}$. We get the ratio of the current light quark masses $R = 58.1\pm1.3$. The present results indicate that the recent experimental data for the $Θ^{+}(1524)$ are compatible with the experimental data of the octet and decuplet masses.

We revisit the mass splittings of SU(3) baryons, taking into account the second-order effects of isospin and SU(3) flavor symmetry breakings within the framework of a chiral soliton model. The masses of the baryon decuplet turn out to be improved, compared to those with the first-order corrections. The mass of the N^* as a member of the baryon antidecuplet is obtained as M_{n^*}=1687 MeV, which is in agreement with the recent experimental data. The pion-nucleon sigma term becomes Σ_{πN}=(50.5\pm 5.4) MeV.

Parity-violating $πN N$ coupling constant in the chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the parity-violating $πNN$ Yukawa coupling constant $h^1_{πNN}$ within the framework of the SU(2) chiral quark-soliton model, based on the $ΔS=0$ effective weak Lagrangian derived within the same framework. We find that the parity-violating $πNN$ coupling constant is about $1\times10^{-8}$ at the scale of 1 GeV. The results of $h_{πNN}^1$ turn out to be sensitive to the Wilson coefficient. We discuss how the gluonic renormalization supresses the parity-violating $πNN$ coupling constant.

A phenomenological description on an incoherent Fermi liquid near optimal doping in high T_{c} cuprates

Marginal Fermi-liquid physics near optimal doping in high T_{c} cuprates has been explained within two competing scenarios such as the spin-fluctuation theory based on an itinerant picture and the slave-particle approach based on a localized picture. In this study we propose an alternative scenario for the anomalous transport within the context of the slave-particle approach. Although the marginal Fermi-liquid phenomenology was interpreted previously within deconfinement of the compact gauge theory, referred to as the strange metal phase, we start from confinement, introducing the Polyakov-loop parameter into an SU(2) gauge theory formulation of the t-J model. The Polyakov-loop parameter gives rise to incoherent electrons through the confinement of spinons and holons, which result from huge imaginary parts of self-energy corrections for spinons and holons. This confinement scenario serves a novel mechanism for the marginal Fermi-liquid transport in the respect that the scattering source has nothing to do with symmetry breaking. Furthermore, the incoherent Fermi-liquid state evolves into the Fermi liquid phase through crossover instead of an artificial second-order transition as temperature is lowered, where the crossover phenomenon does not result from the Anderson-Higgs mechanism but originate from an energy scale in the holon sector. We fit an experimental data for the electrical resistivity around the optimal doping and find a reasonable match between our theory and the experiment.

Binding energy per nucleon and hadron properties in nuclear matter

We investigate the binding energy per nucleon and hadron properties in infinite and homogeneous nuclear matter within the framework of the in-medium modified Skyrme model. We first consider the medium modifications of the single hadron properties by introducing the optical potential for pion fields into the original Lagrangian of the Skyrme model. The parameters of the optical potential are well fitted to the low-energy phenomenology of pion-nucleus scattering. Furthermore, the Skyrme term is also modified in such a way that the model reproduces bulk properties of nuclear matter, in particular, the binding energy per nucleon. The present approach is self-consistent: the single hadron properties in a nuclear medium, their effective in-medium interactions, and the bulk matter properties are treated on the same footing.

Contribution of higher nucleon resonances to K*Λ photoproduction

We investigate K*Λ(1116) photoproduction off the proton and neutron targets in the effective Lagrangian method in the tree-level Born approximation. In addition to the K, K*, and κ exchanges which are the main contributions to the reaction, we consider the contributions from the higher nucleon resonances D13(2080) and the D15(2200). We find that the D13(2080) plays a crucial role in explaining the enhancement of the near-threshold production rate, which results in a good agreement with the experimental data for the proton targets, while the contribution of the D15(2200) is rather small. A similar conclusion is drawn for K* photoproduction off the neutron targets. In addition to the energy and angular dependence of the cross sections, we present the predictions on the photon-beam asymmetry.

K*Λ(1116) photoproduction and nucleon resonances

In this presentation, we report our recent studies on the $K^*Λ(1116)$ photoproduction off the proton target, using the tree-level Born approximation, via the effective Lagrangian approach. In addition, we include the nine (three- or four-star confirmed) nucleon resonances below the threshold $\sqrt{s}_\mathrm{th}\approx2008$ MeV, to interpret the discrepancy between the experiment and previous theoretical studies, in the vicinity of the threshold region. From the numerical studies, we observe that the $S_{11}(1535)$ and $S_{11}(1650)$ play an important role for the cross-section enhancement near the $\sqrt{s}_\mathrm{th}$. It also turns out that, in order to reproduce the data, we have the vector coupling constants $g_{K^*S_{11}(1535)Λ}=(7.0\sim9.0)$ and $g_{K^*S_{11}(1650)Λ}=(5.0\sim6.0)$.

Lambda(1405,1/2^-) photoproduction from the gamma p -> K^+ Lambda(1405) reaction

We investigate the photoproduction of Lambda(1405,1/2^-) = Lambda* off the proton target using the effective Lagrangian in the Born approximation. We observed that, depending on the choice of the K* N Lambda* coupling strength, the total cross section becomes 0.1 <~ sigma_Lambda* <~ 0.2 mu b near the threshold and starts to decrease beyond E_gamma ~ 1.6 GeV, and the angular dependence shows a mild enhancement in the forward direction. It turns out that the energy dependence of the total cross section is similar to that shown in the recent LEPS experiment. This suggests that the production mechanism of the Lambda* is dominated by the s-channel contribution.

Combining the tensor form factor of the pion with the electromagnetic one, we determine the impact-parameter dependent probability density of transversely polarized quarks inside the pion. The tensor and anomalous tensor magnetic form factors are calculated for the momentum transfer up to $Q^{2}\leq1\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$ and at a renormalization scale of $0.36\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$. The main results are summarized as follows: the flavor tensor charges of the nucleon are yielded as $δu=1.08$, $δd=-0.31$, $δs=-0.01$, while the up and down anomalous tensor magnetic moments are evaluated as $κ_{T}^{u}=3.56$ and $κ_{T}^{d}=1.83$, respectively. The strange anomalous tensor magnetic moment turns out to be $κ_{T}^{s}=0.2\sim -0.2$, compatible with zero. We find that the present numerical results for the transverse spin densities of the up and down quarks are in good agreement with those of the lattice calculation. We predict the transvere spin densities of the strange quark. It turns out that the polarized strange quark is noticeably distorted in an unpolarized proton.

An Empirical Study on Content Bundling in BitTorrent Swarming System

Despite the tremendous success of BitTorrent, its swarming system suffers from a fundamental limitation: lower or no availability of unpopular contents. Recently, Menasche et al. has shown that bundling is a promising solution to mitigate this availability problem; it improves the availability and reduces download times for unpopular contents by combining multiple files into a single swarm. There also have been studies on bundling strategies and performance issues in bundled swarms. In spite of the recent surge of interest in the benefits of and strategies for bundling, there are still little empirical grounding for understanding, describing, and modeling it. This is the first empirical study that measures and analyzes how prevalent contents bundling is in BitTorrent and how peers access the bundled contents, in comparison to the other non-bundled (i.e., single-filed) ones. To our surprise, we found that around 70% of BitTorrent swarms contain multiple files, which indicate that bundling has become widespread for contents sharing. We also show that the amount of bytes shared in bundled swarms is estimated to be around 85% out of all the BitTorrent contents logged in our datasets. Inspired from our findings, we raise and discuss three important research questions in the field of file sharing systems as well as future contents-oriented networking: i) bundling strategies, ii) bundling-aware sharing systems in BitTorrent, and iii) implications on content-oriented networking.

Anomalous tensor magnetic moments and form factors of the proton in the self-consistent chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the form factors of the chiral-odd nucleon matrix element of the tensor current. In particular, we aim at the anomalous tensor magnetic form factors of the nucleon within the framework of the SU(3) and SU(2) chiral quark-soliton model. We consider $1/N_c$ rotational corrections and linear effects of SU(3) symmetry breaking with the symmetry-conserving quantization employed. We first obtain the results of the anomalous tensor magnetic moments for the up and down quarks: $κ_{T}^{u}=3.56$ and $κ_{T}^{d}=1.83$, respectively. The strange anomalous tensor magnetic moment is yielded to be $κ_{T}^{s}=0.2\sim -0.2$, that is compatible with zero. We also calculate the corresponding form factors $κ_{T}^{q}(Q^{2})$ up to a momentum transfer $Q^{2}\leq 1\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$ at a renormalization scale of $0.36\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$.

Electromagnetic mass differences of SU(3) baryons within a chiral soliton model

We investigate the electromagnetic mass differences of SU(3) baryons, using an "model-independent approach" within a chiral soliton model. The electromagnetic self-energy corrections to the masses of the baryon are expressed as the baryonic two-point correlation function of the electromagnetic currents. Using the fact that the electromagnetic current can be treated as an octet operator, and considering possible irreducible representations of the correlation function, we are able to construct a general collective operator for the electromagnetic self-energies, which consists of three unknown parameters. These parameters are fixed, the empirical data for the electromagnetic mass differences of the baryon octet being employed. We predict those of the baryon decuplet and antidecuplet. In addition, we obtain various mass relations between baryon masses within the corresponding representation with isospin symmetry breaking considered. We also predict the physical mass differences of the baryon decuplet. The results are in good agreement with the exisiting data.

Photoproduction of the Theta^+ and its vector and axial-vector structure

We present recent investigations on the vector and axial-vector transitions of the baryon antidecuplet within the framework of the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model, taking into account the 1/N_c rotational and linear m_s corrections. The main contribution to the electric-like transition form factor comes from the wave-function corrections. This is a consequence of the generalized Ademollo-Gatto theorem. It is also found that in general the leading-order contributions are almost canceled by the rotational 1/N_c corrections. The results are summarized as follows: the vector and tensor K^*-N-Theta coupling constants, g_{K^*-N-Theta}=0.74 - 0.87 and f_{K^*-N-Theta}=0.53 - 1.16, respectively, and Gamma_{Theta->KN}=0.71 MeV, based on the result of the K-N-Theta coupling constant g_{K-n-Theta}=0.83. We also show the differential cross sections and beam asymmetries, based on the present results. We also discuss the connection of present results with the original work by Diakonov, Petrov, and Polyakov.

Hybrid exotic meson with J^{PC}=1^{-+} in AdS/QCD

We investigate the hybrid exotic meson with $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ within the framework of an AdS/QCD model. Introducing a holographic field dual to the operator for hybrid exotic meson, we obtain the eigen-value equation for its mass. Fixing all free parameters by QCD observables such as the $ρ$-meson mass, we predict the masses of the hybrid exotic meson. The results turn out to be $1476 \mathrm{MeV}$ for the ground state, and $2611 \mathrm{MeV}$ for the first excited one. Being compared with the existing experimental data for the $π_1(1400)$, which is known to be $m_{π_1} = 1351\pm30 \mathrm{MeV}$, the present result seems to be qualitative in agreement with it. Pion electromagnetic charge radii and rho-meson mass shift at finite density

We investigate the pion electromagnetic charge radii and mass dropping of the rho meson at finite density. We first calculate the pion charge radii within the framework of the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum both at zero and finite densities. In order to relate the change of the pion charge radius to that of the rho-meson mass at finite density, we employ the vector-meson dominance for the pion electromagnetic form factor. It turns out that the pion charge radius is getting larger as the quark chemical potential increases. As a result, the rho-meson mass falls off as the quark chemical potential grows and is found to be dropped by about 10% at normal nuclear matter density: m*_rho/m_rho ~ 1 - 0.12 mu_B/mu_0, which is compatible to the results of the measurement at the KEK recently.

We present in this talk recent investigations on the nucleon-like resonance N*(1675) newly found in eta photoproduction by the GRAAL, Tohoku LNS-gamma and CB-ELSA collaborations. We focus on the production mechanism of the N*(1675), examining its spin and parity theoretically within the framework of the effective Lagrangian method. We expliucitly consider D_{13}(1520), S_{11}(1535), S_{11}(1650), D_{15}(1675), P_{11}(1710), P_{13}(1720) as well as possible background contributions. Pentaquarks: Review on Models and Solitonic Calculations of Antidecuplet Magnetic Moments

After a quick look at the present status of experiments we shortly review in a first step the ongoing discussions on some of the basic theoretical approaches to pentaquarks: Chiral solitons, Large-$N_c$ considerations, quark models, and lattice gauge approaches. In a second step we apply the chiral quark-soliton approach including linear $m_s$-corrections to the calculation of magnetic moments of the baryons of the anti-decuplet. In this approach the parameters are fixed solely by experimental data for the magnetic moments of the baryon octet and for the masses of the octet, decuplet and of $Θ^{+}$. The magnetic moment of $Θ^{+}$ depends rather strongly on the pion-nucleon sigma term and reads $-1.19 {\rm n.m.}$ to $-0.33 {\rm n.m.}$ for $Σ_{πN} = 45$ and 75 MeV respectively. As a byproduct the strange magnetic moment of the nucleon is obtained with a value of $μ^{(s)}_N =+0.39$ n.m.

Strangeness in the Scalar Form Factor of the Nucleon

The scalar form factor of the nucleon and related physical quantities are investigated in the framework of the semibosonized SU(3) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio soliton model. We take into account the rotational $1/N_c$ corrections and linear $m_s$ corrections. The strangeness content of the nucleon in the scalar form factor is discussed in detail. In particular, it is found that the $m_s$ corrections play an essential role of reducing the $\langle N | \bar{s} s | N \rangle$ arising from the leading order and rotational $1/N_c$ contributions. We obtain the $σ_{πN} (0)=40.80\;\mbox{MeV}$, $Δσ= σ_{πN} (2m^{2}_π)-σ_{πN} (0) = 18.18\;\mbox{MeV}$ and $\langle r^2\rangle^{S}_{N} = 1.50\;\mbox{fm}^2$.
