Cabibbo-suppressed charged-current semileptonic decays of ΞbΞ_b baryons

We present the first perturbative QCD calculations of the Ξb→(Λ,Σ)Ξ_b \to (Λ, Σ) transition form factors at leading order in αsα_s, which govern the Cabibbo-suppressed semileptonic decays Ξb→(Λ,Σ)ℓνℓΞ_b \to (Λ, Σ)\ell ν_\ell with ℓ=e,μ,τ\ell = e, μ, τ. Using these form factors, we evaluate differential and integrated branching fractions and angular observables within the helicity formalism. The branching ratios are predicted to be of order 10−410^{-4} for ΣΣ final states and 10−510^{-5} for ΛΛ final states, making them accessible to ongoing experiments such as LHCb. Ratios of decay rates between ττ and ee channels are also provided, offering new probes of lepton-flavor universality. Lepton-mass effects are found to significantly impact the integrated angular observables. Furthermore, a combined analysis of b→ub \to u and b→cb \to c transitions in ΞbΞ_b decays yields sub-percent precision for the ratios Rℓ(Σ/Ξc)\mathcal{R}_\ell(Σ/Ξ_c), enabling an independent determination of ∣Vub/Vcb∣|V_{ub}/V_{cb}| once the relevant decay-rate measurements become available.

CPCP-violating observables in four-body B→ϕ(→KKˉ)K∗(→Kπ)B\rightarrow ϕ(\rightarrow K\bar K)K^*(\rightarrow Kπ) decays

We analyse the four-body B→ϕ(→KKˉ)K∗(→Kπ)B\rightarrow ϕ(\rightarrow K\bar K)K^*(\rightarrow Kπ) decays in the perturbative QCD approach, where the invariant mass of KKˉK\bar K(KπKπ) system is limited in a window of ±15\pm 15 MeV (±150\pm150 MeV) around the ϕ(K∗(892))ϕ(K^*(892)) mass.In addition to the P wave resonances, two important S wave backgrounds in the selected invariant mass region are also accounted for. Angular momentum conservation allows six helicity amplitudes to contribute, including three P waves, two single S waves, and one double S wave. We calculated the branching ratio for each component and found sizable S wave contributions, coincide with the experimental observation. The obtained branching ratios of B0(+)→ϕK∗0(+)B^{0(+)}\rightarrow ϕK^{*0(+)} are comparable with the previous predictions and support the measurements, whereas the predicted B(Bs0→ϕKˉ∗0)\mathcal{B}(B^0_s\rightarrow ϕ\bar K^{*0}) is smaller than the world average. The longitudinal polarizations are predicted to be around 0.7,consistent with previous PQCD results but larger than the data. Aside from the direct CP asymmetries, the true and fake triple product asymmetries(TPAs) are calculated in this work. In the case of neutral modes, both direct CP asymmetries and true TPAs are expected to be zero due to the vanishing weak phase difference. The direct CP asymmetries for the B+B^+ mode are predicted to be tiny, since the tree contributions are suppressed with respect to the penguin ones. The true asymmetries have shown no significant deviations from zero.In contrast, large fake asymmetries are observed in these decays, indicating the presence of significant final state interactions. We give the predictions of the S wave induced TPAs for the first time, which is consistent with LHCb data and would be checked with future measurements from Belle and BABAR experiments if the S wave components can be properly taken into account in angular analysis.

Nonleptonic two-body decays of Λb→Λcπ,ΛcKΛ_b\rightarrow Λ_c π, Λ_cK in the perturbative QCD approach

We study the color-allowed Λb→Λcπ,ΛcKΛ_b\rightarrow Λ_c π, Λ_cK decays in the perturbative QCD approach (PQCD) to lowest order in strong coupling constant αsα_s. Both the factorizable and nonfactorizable contributions are taken into account in our calculations. It is found that these processes are dominated by the factorizable contributions, while the important nonfactorizable contributions can enhance the branching ratios by about 30%\%. The decay branching ratios are predicted to be B(Λb→Λcπ)=6.7−3.8+4.1×10−3\mathcal{B}(Λ_b\rightarrow Λ_c π)=6.7^{+4.1}_{-3.8}\times 10^{-3} and B(Λb→ΛcK)=5.0−3.0+4.0×10−4\mathcal{B}(Λ_b\rightarrow Λ_c K)=5.0^{+4.0}_{-3.0}\times 10^{-4}, where the uncertainties arise from the baryon light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs), the heavy charm quark and charmed baryon masses, and the hard scales. It is shown that the asymmetry parameters in the two decays are approximately equal to -1, which is expected as in the heavy quark limit and the soft meson limit. Our predictions are consistent with the recent experimental data within errors. The obtained numerical results are also compared to those in the other theoretical approaches when they are available.

Study of B(s)0→ϕϕ→(K+K−)(K+K−)B_{(s)}^0 \to ϕϕ\to (K^+K^-)(K^+K^-) decays in the perturbative QCD approach

In this work, we make a detailed analysis on the penguin-dominant processes B(s)0→ϕϕ→(K+K−)(K+K−)B_{(s)}^0 \to ϕϕ\to (K^+K^-)(K^+K^-) in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. In addition to the dominant PP-wave resonance, the scalar background f0(980)→K+K−f_0(980) \to K^+K^- is also accounted for. We improve the Gegenbauer moments in KKKK two-meson distribution amplitudes by fitting the PQCD factorization formulas to measured branching ratios of three-body and four-body BB decays. We extract the branching ratios of two-body B(s)0→ϕϕB_{(s)}^0 \to ϕϕ decays from the corresponding four-body decay modes and calculate the relevant polarization fractions together with two relative phases ϕ∥,⊥ϕ_{\parallel,\perp}, which are consistent with the previous theoretical predictions. The PQCD predictions for the "true" triple product asymmetries (TPAs) are zero which are expected in the standard model due to the vanishing weak phase difference, and support the current data reported by the CDF and LHCb Collaborations. A large "fake" TPA AT-fake1=30.4%\mathcal{A}_\text{T-fake}^1=30.4\% of the decay Bs0→ϕϕ→(K+K−)(K+K−)B^0_s \to ϕϕ\to (K^+K^-)(K^+K^-) is predicted for the first time, which indicates the presence of the significant final-state interactions. The TPAs of the rare decay channel B0→ϕϕ→(K+K−)(K+K−)B^0 \to ϕϕ\to (K^+K^-)(K^+K^-) are also predicted and can be tested in the near future.

PP-wave contributions to B(s)→ψKπB_{(s)}\toψKπ decays in perturbative QCD approach

In this work, we studied the quasi-two-body decays B(s)→ψ[K∗(892),K∗(1410),B_{(s)} \to ψ[K^*(892), K^*(1410), K∗(1680)]→ψKπK^*(1680)] \to ψKπ by employing the perturbative QCD (PQCD) factorization approach, where the charmonia ψψ represents J/ψJ/ψ and ψ(2S)ψ(2S). The corresponding decay channels are studied by constructing the kaon-pion distribution amplitude (DA) ΦKπPΦ_{K π}^{\rm P}, which contained the important final state interactions between the kaon and pion in the resonant region. The relativistic Breit-Wigner formulas are adopted to parameterize the time-like form factor FKπF_{Kπ} appeared in the kaon-pion DAs. The SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking effect resulting from the mass difference between kaon and pion is taken into account, which makes significant contributions to the longitudinal polarizations. We accommodate well the observed branching ratios and the polarization fractions of the B(s)→ψK∗(892)→ψKπB_{(s)} \to ψK^*(892) \to ψKπ by tuning the hadronic parameters for the kaon-pion DAs. The PQCD predictions for the B(s)→ψ[K∗(1410),K∗(1680)]→ψKπB_{(s)} \to ψ[K^*(1410), K^*(1680)] \to ψKπ modes from the same set of parameters can be tested by the future precise data from the LHCb and the Belle II experiments.

SS, PP and DD-wave resonance contributions to B(s)→ηc(1S,2S)KπB_{(s)} \to η_c(1S,2S) Kπ decays in the perturbative QCD approach

In this work, we analyze the three-body B(s)→ηc(1S,2S)KπB_{(s)} \to η_c(1S,2S) K π decays within the framework of the perturbative QCD approach (PQCD) under the quasi-two-body approximation, where the kaon-pion invariant mass spectra are dominated by the K0∗(1430)0,K0∗(1950)0,K∗(892)0,K∗(1410)0,K∗(1680)0K_0^*(1430)^0,K_0^*(1950)^0,K^*(892)^0,K^*(1410)^0,K^*(1680)^0 and K2∗(1430)0K_2^*(1430)^0 resonances. The time-like form factors are adopted to parametrize the corresponding SS, PP, DD-wave kaon-pion distribution amplitudes for the concerned decay modes, which describe the final-state interactions between the kaon and pion in the resonant region. The KπKπ SS-wave component at low KπKπ mass is described by the LASS line shape, while the time-like form factors of other resonances are modeled by the relativistic Breit-Wigner function. We find the following main points: (a) the PQCD predictions of the branching ratios for most considered B→ηc(1S)(K∗0→)K+π−B \to η_c(1S)(K^{*0}\to )K^+π^- decays agree well with the currently available data within errors; (b) for B(B0→ηc(K0∗(1430)→)K+π−){\cal B}(B^0 \to η_c (K_0^*(1430)\to )K^+π^-) and B(B0→ηcK+π−(NR)){\cal B}(B^0 \to η_c K^+π^-({\rm NR})) (here NR means nonresonant), our predictions of the branching ratios are a bit smaller than the measured ones; and (c) the PQCD results for the DD-wave contributions considered in this work can be tested once the precise data from the future LHCb and Belle-II experiments are available.

Resonant contributions to three-body B(s)→[D(∗),Dˉ(∗)]K+K−B_{(s)} \to [ D^{(*)}, \bar{D}^{(*)} ] K^+K^- decays in the perturbative QCD approach

In this work, we study the SS, PP and DD wave resonance contributions to three-body decays B(s)→[D(∗),Dˉ(∗)]K+K−B_{(s)} \to [ D^{(*)}, \bar{D}^{(*)} ] K^+K^- by employing the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach, where the kaon-kaon invariant mass spectra are dominated by the f0(980),f0(1370),f_0(980),f_0(1370), ϕ(1020),ϕ(1680),f2(1270),f2′(1525),f2(1750)ϕ(1020),ϕ(1680),f_2(1270),f^{\prime}_2(1525),f_2(1750) and f2(1950)f_2(1950) resonances. The KKKK SS-wave component f0(980)f_0(980) is modeled with the Flatté formalism, while other resonances are described by the relativistic Breit-Wigner (BW) line shape. The corresponding decay channels are studied by constructing the kaon-kaon distribution amplitude ΦKKΦ_{KK}, which captures important final state interactions between the kaon pair in the resonant region. We found that the PQCD predictions for the branching ratios for most considered decays agree with currently available data within errors. The associated polarization fractions of those vector-vector and vector-tensor decay modes are also predicted, which are expected to be tested in the near future experiments. The invariant mass spectra for the corresponding resonances in the B(s)→[D(∗),Dˉ(∗)]K+K−B_{(s)} \to [D^{(*)}, \bar{D}^{(*)} ] K^+K^- decays are well established, which can be confronted with the precise data from the LHCb and Belle II experiments.

Revisiting nonfactorizable contributions to factorization-forbidden decays of BB mesons to charmonium

Motivated by the large rates of B→(χc0,χc2,hc)KB\rightarrow (χ_{c0}, χ_{c2}, h_c)K decays observed by the BABARBABAR and Belle collaborations, we investigate the nonfactorizable contributions to these factorization-forbidden decays, which can occur through a gluon exchange between the ccˉc\bar c system and the spectator quark. Our numerical results demonstrate that the spectator contributions are capable of producing a large branching ratio consistent with the experiments. As a by-product, we also study the Cabibbo-suppressed decays, such as B→(χc0,χc2,hc)πB\rightarrow (χ_{c0}, χ_{c2}, h_c)π and the U-spin-related BsB_s decay, which have so far received less theoretical and experimental attention. The calculated branching ratios reach the order of 10−610^{-6}, which in within the scope of the Belle-II and LHCb experiments. Further, the CPCP-asymmetry parameters are also calculated for these decays. The obtained results are compared with the available experimental data and numbers from other predictions. We also investigate the sources of theoretical uncertainties in our calculation.

Semileptonic decays of BcB_c meson to S-wave charmonium states in the perturbative QCD approach

Inspired by the recent measurement of the ratio of BcB_c branching fractions to J/ψπ+J/ψπ^+ and J/ψμ+νμJ/ψμ^+ν_μ final states at the LHCb detector, we study the semileptonic decays of BcB_c meson to the S-wave ground and radially excited 2S and 3S charmonium states with the perturbative QCD approach. After evaluating the form factors for the transitions Bc→P,VB_c\rightarrow P,V, where PP and VV denote pseudoscalar and vector S-wave charmonia, respectively, we calculate the branching ratios for all these semileptonic decays. The theoretical uncertainty of hadronic input parameters are reduced by utilizing the light-cone wave function for BcB_c meson. It is found that the predicted branching ratios range from 10−610^{-6} up to 10−210^{-2} and could be measured by the future LHCb experiment. Our prediction for the ratio of branching fractions BR(Bc+→J/Ψπ+)BR(Bc+→J/Ψμ+νμ)\frac{\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/Ψπ^+)}{\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/Ψμ^+ν_μ)} is in good agreement with the data. For Bc→VlνlB_c\rightarrow V l ν_l decays, the relative contributions of the longitudinal and transverse polarization are discussed in different momentum transfer squared regions. These predictions will be tested on the ongoing and forthcoming experiments.

S-wave ground state charmonium decays of BcB_c mesons in the perturbative QCD approach

We make a systematic investigation on the two-body nonleptonic decays Bc→J/Ψ(ηc),MB_c\rightarrow J/Ψ(η_c),M by employing the perturbative QCD approach based on kTk_T factorization, where MM is a light pseudoscalar or vector or a heavy charmed meson. We predict the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries of these BcB_c decays and also the transverse polarization fractions of Bc→J/ΨV,J/ψD(s)∗B_c\rightarrow J/ΨV,J/ψD^{*}_{(s)} decays. It is found that these decays have a large branching ratios of the order of 10−4−10−210^{-4} - 10^{-2} and could be measured by the future LHC-b experiment. Our predictions for the ratios of branching fractions BR(Bc+→J/ΨDs+)BR(Bc+→J/Ψπ+)\frac{\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ΨD_s^+)} {\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/Ψπ^+)} ,BR(Bc+→J/ΨDs∗+)BR(Bc+→J/ΨDs+)\frac{\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ΨD_s^{*+})} {\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ΨD_s^+)} and BR(Bc+→J/ΨK+)BR(Bc+→J/Ψπ+)\frac{\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ΨK^+)} {\mathcal {BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/Ψπ^+)} are in good agreement with the data. A large transverse polarization fraction which can reach 48%48\% is predicted in Bc+→J/ΨDs∗+B_c^+\rightarrow J/ΨD_s^{*+} decay, which is consistent with the data. We find a possible direct CP violation in Bc→J/ψD∗B_c\rightarrow J/ψD^{*} decays, which are helpful to test the CP violating effects in BcB_c decays.

The Bc→ψ(2S)πB_c\rightarrow ψ(2S)π, ηc(2S)πη_c(2S)π decays in the perturbative QCD approach

Nonleptonic two body BcB_c decays including radially excited ψ(2S)ψ(2S) or ηc(2S)η_c(2S) mesons in the final state are studied using the perturbative QCD approach based on kTk_T factorization. The charmonium distribution amplitudes are extracted from the n=2,l=0n = 2, l = 0 Schro¨\ddot{o}dinger states for the harmonic oscillator potential. Utilizing these distribution amplitudes, we calculate the numerical results of the Bc→ψ(2S),ηc(2S)B_c\rightarrow ψ(2S),η_c(2S) transition form factors and branching fractions of Bc→ψ(2S)π,ηc(2S)πB_c\rightarrow ψ(2S)π, η_c(2S)π decays. The ratio between two decay modes Bc→ψ(2S)πB_c\rightarrow ψ(2S)π and Bc→J/ψπB_c\rightarrow J/ψπ is compatible with the experimental data within uncertainties, which indicate that the harmonic oscillator wave functions for ψ(2S)ψ(2S) and ηc(2S)η_c(2S) work well. It is found that the branching fraction of Bc→ηc(2S)πB_c\rightarrow η_c(2S)π, which is dominated by the twist-3 charmonium distribution amplitude, can reach the order of 10−310^{-3}. We hope it can be measured soon in the LHCb experiment.

Revisiting the B {\to} π ρ, π ω Decays in the Perturbative QCD Approach Beyond the Leading Order

We calculate the branching ratios and CP asymmetries of the B→πρB \to πρ, πωπω decays in the perturbative QCD factorization approach up to the next-to-leading-order contributions. We find that the next-to-leading-order contributions can interfere with the leading-order part constructively or destructively for different decay modes. Our numerical results have a much better agreement with current available data than previous leading-order calculations, e.g., the next-to-leading-order corrections enhance the B0→π0ρ0B^0\rightarrow π^0ρ^0 branching ratios by a factor 2.5, which is helpful to narrow the gaps between theoretic predictions and experimental data. We also update the direct CP-violation parameters, the mixing-induced CP-violation parameters of these modes, which show a better agreement with experimental data than many of the other approaches.

The double charm decays of BcB_c Meson in the Perturbative QCD Approach

We make a systematic investigation on the double charm decays of BcB_c meson, by employing the perturbative QCD approach based on kTk_T factorization. It is found that the non-factorizable emission diagrams are not negligible in these channels. We predict the branching ratios of these BcB_c decays and also the transverse polarization fractions of Bc→D(s)∗+Dˉ∗0,D(s)∗+D∗0B_c\rightarrow D_{(s)}^{*+}\bar D^{*0}, D_{(s)}^{*+}D^{*0} decays, % where V denote the vector D(s)∗D^*_{(s)} meson. We find that the magnitudes of the branching ratios of the decays Bc→DsDˉ0B_c\rightarrow D_s\bar{D}^0 and Bc→DsD0B_c\rightarrow D_sD^0 are very close to each other, which are well suited to extract the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle γγ through the amplitude relations. In addition, a large transverse polarization contribution that can reach 5050%\sim 60% is predicted in some of the BcB_c meson decay to two vector charmed mesons.

The pure annihilation type decays B0→Ds−K2∗+B^0\rightarrow D_{s}^{-}K_{2}^{*+} and Bs→Dˉa2B_{s}\rightarrow \bar{D}a_{2} in perturbative QCD approach

We calculate the branching ratios of pure annihilation type decays B0→Ds−K2∗+B^0\rightarrow D_{s}^{-}K_{2}^{*+} and Bs→Dˉa2B_s\rightarrow \bar{D}a_{2} using the perturbative QCD approach based on kTk_T factorization. The branching ratios are predicted to be (60.6−16.5 −10.4 −2.1+17.3 +4.3 +3.2)×10−6(60.6_{-16.5\,-10.4\,-2.1}^{+17.3\,+4.3\,+3.2}) \times 10^{-6} for B0→Ds−K2∗+B^0\rightarrow D_{s}^{-}K_{2}^{*+}, (1.1−0.4 −0.2 −0.1+0.4 +0.1 +0.1)×10−6(1.1_{-0.4\,-0.2\,-0.1}^{+0.4\,+0.1\,+0.1})\times 10^{-6} for Bs→Dˉa20B_s\rightarrow \bar{D}a_{2}^{0} and (2.3−0.8 −0.4 −0.1+0.8 +0.2 +0.1)×10−6(2.3_{-0.8\,-0.4\,-0.1}^{+0.8\,+0.2\,+0.1})\times 10^{-6} for Bs→D−a2+B_{s}\rightarrow D^{-}a_{2}^{+}. They are large enough to be measured in the ongoing experiment. Due to the shortage of contributions from penguin operators, there are no direct CP asymmetries for these decays in the standard model. We also derive simple relations among these decay channels to reduce theoretical uncertainties for the experiments to test the accuracy of theory and search of new physics signal.

The two-body B_c {\to} D^{(*)}_{(s)}P, D^{(*)}_{(s)}V decays in the Perturbative QCD Approach

We make a systematic investigation on the two-body nonleptonic decays B_c {\to} D^{(*)}_{(s)}P, D^{(*)}_{(s)}V, by employing the perturbative QCD approach based on k_T factorization, where P and V denote any light pseudoscalar meson and vector meson, respectively. We predict the branching ratios and direct CP-asymmetries of these B_c decays and also the transverse polarization fractions of B_c {\to} D^{*}_{(s)}V decays. It is found that the non-factorizable emission diagrams and annihilation type diagrams have remarkable effects on the physical observables in many channels, especially the color-suppressed and annihilation-dominant decay modes. A possible large direct CP-violation is predicted in some channels; and a large transverse polarization contribution that can reach 50% ~ 70% is predicted in some of the Bc {\to} D^{*}_{(s)}V decays.
