Deep Supervised Information Bottleneck Hashing for Cross-modal Retrieval based Computer-aided Diagnosis

Mapping X-ray images, radiology reports, and other medical data as binary codes in the common space, which can assist clinicians to retrieve pathology-related data from heterogeneous modalities (i.e., hashing-based cross-modal medical data retrieval), provides a new view to promot computeraided diagnosis. Nevertheless, there remains a barrier to boost medical retrieval accuracy: how to reveal the ambiguous semantics of medical data without the distraction of superfluous information. To circumvent this drawback, we propose Deep Supervised Information Bottleneck Hashing (DSIBH), which effectively strengthens the discriminability of hash codes. Specifically, the Deep Deterministic Information Bottleneck (Yu, Yu, and Principe 2021) for single modality is extended to the cross-modal scenario. Benefiting from this, the superfluous information is reduced, which facilitates the discriminability of hash codes. Experimental results demonstrate the superior accuracy of the proposed DSIBH compared with state-of-the-arts in cross-modal medical data retrieval tasks.

Anticipating backward stochastic Volterra integral equations

We introduce and study a new type of integral equations called anticipating backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (anticipating BSVIEs). In these equations the generator involves not only the present values but also the future values of the solutions. We obtain the existence and uniqueness theorem and a comparison theorem for the solutions to these anticipating BSVIEs.

Anticipative backward stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion

We study the anticipative backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs, for short) driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H greater than 1/2. The stochastic integral used throughout the paper is the divergence operator type integral. We obtain the existence and uniqueness of solutions to these equations. A comparison theorem for this type of anticipative BSDEs is also established.

Functional Itô formula for fractional Brownian motion

We develop the functional Itô/path-dependent calculus with respect to fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H> \frac{1}{2}$. Firstly, two types of integrals are studied. The first type is Stratonovich integral, and the second type is Wick-Itô integral. Then we establish the functional Itô formulas for fractional Brownian motion, which extend the functional Itô formulas in Dupire (2009) and Cont-Fournié (2013) to the case of non-semimartingale. Finally, as an application, we deal with a class of fractional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs). A relation between fractional BSDEs and path-dependent partial differential equations (PDEs) is established.

Multidimensional BSDEs with uniformly continuous coefficients: the general result

In this paper, by introducing a new notion of envelope of the stochastic process, we construct a family of random differential equations whose solutions can be viewed as solutions of a family of ordinary differential equations and prove that the multidimensional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs for short) with the general uniformly continuous coefficients are uniquely solvable. As a result, we solve the open problem of multidimensional BSDEs with uniformly continuous coefficients.

A Maximum-Principle-Satisfying High-order Finite Volume Compact WENO Scheme for Scalar Conservation Laws

In this paper, a maximum-principle-satisfying finite volume compact scheme is proposed for solving scalar hyperbolic conservation laws. The scheme combines WENO schemes (Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory) with a class of compact schemes under a finite volume framework, in which the nonlinear WENO weights are coupled with lower order compact stencils. The maximum-principle-satisfying polynomial rescaling limiter in [Zhang and Shu, JCP, 2010] is adopted to construct the present schemes at each stage of an explicit Runge-Kutta method, without destroying high order accuracy and conservativity. Numerical examples for one and two dimensional problems including incompressible flows are presented to assess the good performance, maximum principle preserving, essentially non-oscillatory and highly accurate resolution of the proposed method.

A Positivity-preserving High Order Finite Volume Compact-WENO Scheme for Compressible Euler Equations

In this paper, a positivity-preserving fifth-order finite volume compact-WENO scheme is proposed for solving compressible Euler equations. As we know conservative compact finite volume schemes have high resolution properties while WENO (Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory) schemes are essentially non-oscillatory near flow discontinuities. We extend the main idea of WENO schemes to some classical compact finite volume schemes [32], where lower order compact stencils are combined with WENO nonlinear weights to get a higher order finite volume compact-WENO scheme. The newly developed positivity-preserving limiter [46,44] is used to preserve positive density and internal energy for compressible Euler equations of fluid dynamics. The HLLC (Harten, Lax, and van Leer with Contact) approximate Riemann solver [39,2] is used to get the numerical flux at the cell interfaces. Numerical tests are presented to demonstrate the high-order accuracy, positivity-preserving, high-resolution and robustness of the proposed scheme.

Optimal Control Problems of Forward-Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations

Optimal control problems of forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs in short) are formulated and studied. A general duality principle is established for linear backward stochastic integral equation and linear stochastic Fredholm-Volterra integral equation with mean-field. With the help of such a duality principle, together with some other new delicate and subtle skills, Pontryagin type maximum principles are proved for two optimal control problems of FBSVIEs.

Sublinear expectation linear regression

Nonlinear expectation, including sublinear expectation as its special case, is a new and original framework of probability theory and has potential applications in some scientific fields, especially in finance risk measure and management. Under the nonlinear expectation framework, however, the related statistical models and statistical inferences have not yet been well established. The goal of this paper is to construct the sublinear expectation regression and investigate its statistical inference. First, a sublinear expectation linear regression is defined and its identifiability is given. Then, based on the representation theorem of sublinear expectation and the newly defined model, several parameter estimations and model predictions are suggested, the asymptotic normality of estimations and the mini-max property of predictions are obtained. Furthermore, new methods are developed to realize variable selection for high-dimensional model. Finally, simulation studies and a real-life example are carried out to illustrate the new models and methodologies. All notions and methodologies developed are essentially different from classical ones and can be thought of as a foundation for general nonlinear expectation statistics.

General Doubly Stochastic Maximum Principle and Its Applications to Optimal Control of SPDEs

In this paper, we prove the necessary and sufficient maximum principles (NSMPs in short) for the optimal control of systems described by a quasilinear stochastic heat equation within convex control domains, which all the coefficients contain control variables. For that, the optimal control problem of fully coupled forward-backward doubly stochastic system is studied. We apply our NSMPs to treat a kind of forward-backward doubly stochastic linear quadratic optimal control problems and an example of optimal control of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs in short) as well.

Mean-Field Backward Doubly Stochastic Differential Equations and Applications

Mean-field backward doubly stochastic differential equations (MF-BDSDEs, for short) are introduced and studied. The existence and uniqueness of solutions for MF-BDSDEs is established. One probabilistic interpretation for the solutions to a class of nonlocal stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs, for short) is given. A Pontryagin's type maximum principle is established for optimal control problem of MF-BDSDEs. Finally, one backward linear quadratic problem of mean-field type is discussed to illustrate the direct application of above maximum principle.

Mean-Field Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations

Mean-field backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (MF-BSVIEs, for short) are introduced and studied. Well-posedness of MF-BSVIEs in the sense of introduced adapted M-solutions is established. Two duality principles between linear mean-field (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (MF-FSVIEs, for short) and MF-BSVIEs are obtained. As applications, a multi-dimensional comparison theorem is proved for adapted M-solutions of MF-BSVIEs and a maximum principle is established for an optimal control of MF-FSVIEs.

A maximum principle for forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations and applications in finance

This paper formulates and studies a stochastic maximum principle for forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs in short), while the control area is assumed to be convex. Then a linear quadratic (LQ in short) problem for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short) is present to illustrate the aforementioned optimal control problem. Motivated by the technical skills in solving above problem, a more convenient and briefer method for the unique solvability of M-solution for BSVIEs is proposed. At last, we will investigate a risk minimization problem by means of the maximum principle for FBSVIEs. Closed-form optimal portfolio is obtained in some special cases.

Backward Doubly Stochastic Differential Equations with Jumps and Stochastic Partial Differential-Integral Equations

In this paper, we study backward doubly stochastic differential equations driven by Brownian motions and Poisson process (BDSDEP in short) with non-Lipschitz coefficients on random time interval. The probabilistic interpretation for the solutions to a class of quasilinear stochastic partial differential-integral equations (SPDIEs in short) is tthe solutionBDSDEP. Under non-Lipschitz conditions, the existence and uniqueness results for measurable solutions of BDSDEP are established via the smoothing technique. Then, the continuous dependence for solutions of BDSDEP is derived. Finally, the probabilistic interpretation for the solutions to a class of quasilinear SPDIEs is given.

Forward-Backward Doubly Stochastic Differential Equations with Random Jumps and Stochastic Partial Differential-Integral Equations

In this paper, we study forward-backward doubly stochastic differential equations driven by Brownian motions and Poisson process (FBDSDEP in short). Both the probabilistic interpretation for the solutions to a class of quasilinear stochastic partial differential-integral equations (SPDIEs in short) and stochastic Hamiltonian systems arising in stochastic optimal control problems with random jumps are treated with FBDSDEP. Under some monotonicity assumptions, the existence and uniqueness results for measurable solutions of FBDSDEP are established via a method of continuation. Furthermore, the continuity and differentiability of the solutions of FBDSDEP depending on parameters is discussed. Finally, the probabilistic interpretation for the solutions to a class of quasilinear SPDIEs is given.

Maximum Principle for Forward-Backward Doubly Stochastic Control Systems and Applications

The maximum principle for optimal control problems of fully coupled forward-backward doubly stochastic differential equations (FBDSDEs in short) in the global form is obtained, under the assumptions that the diffusion coefficients do not contain the control variable, but the control domain need not to be convex. We apply our stochastic maximum principle (SMP in short) to investigate the optimal control problems of a class of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs in short). And as an example of the SMP, we solve a kind of forward-backward doubly stochastic linear quadratic optimal control problems as well. In the last section, we use the solution of FBDSDEs to get the explicit form of the optimal control for linear quadratic stochastic optimal control problem and open-loop Nash equilibrium point for nonzero sum differential games problem.

Solvability of general backward stochastic Volterra integral equation with non-Lipschitz coefficients

In this paper we study the unique solvability of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short), in terms of both the M-solutions introduced in [17] and the adapted solutions in [6], [12] or [14]. A general existence and uniqueness of M-solutions is proved under non-Lipschitz conditions by virtue of a briefer argument than the one in [17], which also extends the results in [17]. For the adapted solutions, the unique solvability of BSVIEs, under more general stochastic non-Lipschitz conditions, is obtained which generalizes the results in [6], [12] and [14].

Symmetrical Solutions of Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations and Their Applications

Backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short) are studied. We introduce the notion of adapted symmetrical solutions (S-solutions in short), which are different from the M-solutions introduced by Yong [17]. We also give some new results for them. At last a class of dynamic coherent risk measures were derived via certain BSVIEs.
