Spike Variations for Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations

Spike variation technique plays a crucial role in deriving Pontryagin's type maximum principle of optimal controls for differential equations of several types, including ordinary differential equations (ODEs), partial differential equations (PDEs), and stochastic differentia equations (SDEs), when the control domains are not assumed to be convex. This technique also applies to (deterministic forward) Volterra intrgral equations (FVIEs). It is natural to expect that such a technique could be extended to the case of (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (FSVIEs). However, by mimicking the case of SDEs, one encounters an essential difficulty of handling an involved quadratic term. To overcome the difficulty, we introduce an auxiliary process for which one can use Itô's formula, and adopt a trick used in linear-quadratic stochastic optimal control problems. Then a suitable representation of the above-mentioned quadratic form is obtained, and the second order adjoint equations are derived. Consequently, the maximum principle of Pontryagin type is established. Some relevant extensions are investigated as well.

Characterization of Optimal Feedback for Stochastic Linear Quadratic Control Problems

One of the fundamental issues in Control Theory is to design feedback controls. It is well-known that, the purpose of introducing Riccati equations in the deterministic case is to provide the desired feedback controls for linear quadratic control problems. To date, the same problem in the stochastic setting is only partially well-understood. In this paper, we establish the equivalence between the existence of optimal feedback controls for the stochastic linear quadratic control problems with random coefficients and the solvability of the corresponding backward stochastic Riccati equations in a suitable sense. We also give a counterexample showing the nonexistence of feedback controls to a solvable stochastic linear quadratic control problem. This is a new phenomenon in the stochastic setting, significantly different from its deterministic counterpart.

Optimal control problems of forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations with closed control regions

Optimal control problems of forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs, in short) with closed control regions are formulated and studied. Instead of using spike variation method as one may imagine, here we turn to treat the non-convexity of the control regions by borrowing some tools in set-valued analysis and adapting them into our stochastic control systems. A duality principle between linear backward stochastic Volterra integral equations and linear stochastic Fredholm-Volterra integral equations with conditional expectation are derived, which extends and improves the corresponding results in [25], [30]. Some first order necessary optimality conditions for optimal controls of FBSVIEs are established. In contrast with existed common routines to treat the non-convexity of stochastic control problems, here only one adjoint system and one-order differentiability requirements of the coefficients are needed.

Optimal Control Problems of Forward-Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations

Optimal control problems of forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs in short) are formulated and studied. A general duality principle is established for linear backward stochastic integral equation and linear stochastic Fredholm-Volterra integral equation with mean-field. With the help of such a duality principle, together with some other new delicate and subtle skills, Pontryagin type maximum principles are proved for two optimal control problems of FBSVIEs.

Mean Field Linear-Quadratic-Gaussian (LQG) Games for Stochastic Integral Systems

In this paper we discuss a class of mean field linear-quadratic-Gaussian (LQG) games for large population system which has never been addressed by existing literature. The features of our works are sketched as follows. First of all, our state is modeled by stochastic Volterra-type equation which leads to some new study on stochastic "integral" system. This feature makes our setup significantly different from the previous mean field games where the states always follow some stochastic "differential" equations. Actually, our stochastic integral system is rather general and can be viewed as natural generalization of stochastic differential equations. In addition, it also includes some types of stochastic delayed systems as its special cases. Second, some new techniques are explored to tackle our mean-field LQG games due to the special structure of integral system. For example, unlike the Riccati equation in linear controlled differential system, some Fredholm-type equations are introduced to characterize the consistency condition of our integral system via the resolvent kernels. Third, based on the state aggregation technique, the Nash certainty equivalence (NCE) equation is derived and the set of associated decentralized controls are verified to satisfy the $ε$-Nash equilibrium property. To this end, some new estimates of stochastic Volterra equations are developed which also have their own interests.

Comparison Theorems for Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations

For backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs) in multi-dimensional Euclidean spaces, comparison theorems are established in a systematic way for the adapted solutions and adapted M-solutions. For completeness, comparison theorems for (forward) stochastic differential equations, backward stochastic differential equations, and (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (FSVIEs) are also presented. Duality principles are used in some relevant proofs. Also, it is found that certain kind of monotonicity conditions play crucial roles to guarantee the comparison theorems for FSVIEs and BSVIEs to be true. Various counterexamples show that the assumed conditions are almost necessary in some sense.

Risk minimizing of derivatives via dynamic g-expectation and related topics

In this paper, we investigate risk minimization problem of derivatives based on non-tradable underlyings by means of dynamic g-expectations which are slight different from conditional g-expectations. In this framework, inspired by [1] and [16], we introduce risk indifference price, marginal risk price and derivative hedge and obtain their corresponding explicit expressions. The interesting thing is that their expressions have nothing to do with nonlinear generator g, and one deep reason for this is due to the completeness of financial market. By giving three useful special risk minimization problems, we obtain the explicit optimal strategies with initial wealth involved, demonstrate some qualitative analysis among optimal strategies, risk aversion parameter and market price of risk, together with some economic interpretations.

Mean-Field Backward Doubly Stochastic Differential Equations and Applications

Mean-field backward doubly stochastic differential equations (MF-BDSDEs, for short) are introduced and studied. The existence and uniqueness of solutions for MF-BDSDEs is established. One probabilistic interpretation for the solutions to a class of nonlocal stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs, for short) is given. A Pontryagin's type maximum principle is established for optimal control problem of MF-BDSDEs. Finally, one backward linear quadratic problem of mean-field type is discussed to illustrate the direct application of above maximum principle.

Mean-Field Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations

Mean-field backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (MF-BSVIEs, for short) are introduced and studied. Well-posedness of MF-BSVIEs in the sense of introduced adapted M-solutions is established. Two duality principles between linear mean-field (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (MF-FSVIEs, for short) and MF-BSVIEs are obtained. As applications, a multi-dimensional comparison theorem is proved for adapted M-solutions of MF-BSVIEs and a maximum principle is established for an optimal control of MF-FSVIEs.

A maximum principle for forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations and applications in finance

This paper formulates and studies a stochastic maximum principle for forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs in short), while the control area is assumed to be convex. Then a linear quadratic (LQ in short) problem for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short) is present to illustrate the aforementioned optimal control problem. Motivated by the technical skills in solving above problem, a more convenient and briefer method for the unique solvability of M-solution for BSVIEs is proposed. At last, we will investigate a risk minimization problem by means of the maximum principle for FBSVIEs. Closed-form optimal portfolio is obtained in some special cases.

BSVIEs with stochastic Lipschitz coefficients and applications in finance

This paper is concerned with existence and uniqueness of M-solutions of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs for short), which Lipschitz coefficients are allowed to be random, which generalize the results in [15]. Then a class of continuous time dynamic dynamic coherent risk measures is derived, allowing the riskless interest rate to be random, which is different from the case in [15].

Solvability of general backward stochastic Volterra integral equation with non-Lipschitz coefficients

In this paper we study the unique solvability of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short), in terms of both the M-solutions introduced in [17] and the adapted solutions in [6], [12] or [14]. A general existence and uniqueness of M-solutions is proved under non-Lipschitz conditions by virtue of a briefer argument than the one in [17], which also extends the results in [17]. For the adapted solutions, the unique solvability of BSVIEs, under more general stochastic non-Lipschitz conditions, is obtained which generalizes the results in [6], [12] and [14].

Symmetrical Solutions of Backward Stochastic Volterra Integral Equations and Their Applications

Backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short) are studied. We introduce the notion of adapted symmetrical solutions (S-solutions in short), which are different from the M-solutions introduced by Yong [17]. We also give some new results for them. At last a class of dynamic coherent risk measures were derived via certain BSVIEs.
