Differential K-theory and localization formula for $η$-invariants

In this paper, we obtain a localization formula in differential K-theory for $S^1$-action. Then by combining an extension of Goette's result on the comparison of two types of equivariant $η$-invariants, we establish a version of localization formula for equivariant $η$-invariants. An important step of our approach is to construct a pre-$λ$-ring structure in differential K-theory which is interesting in its own right.

Quotient of Bergman kernels on punctured Riemann surfaces

In this paper we consider a punctured Riemann surface endowed with a Hermitian metric that equals the Poincar{é} metric near the punctures, and a holomorphic line bundle that polarizes the metric. We show that the quotient of the Bergman kernel of high tensor powers of the line bundle and of the Bergman kernel of the Poincar{é} model near the singularity tends to one up to arbitrary negative powers of the tensor power.

Equidistribution speed for Fekete points associated with an ample line bundle

Let K be the closure of a bounded open set with smooth boundary in C^n. A Fekete configuration of order p for K is a finite subset of K maximizing the Vandermonde determinant associated with polynomials of degree at most p. A recent theorem by Berman, Boucksom and Witt Nystrom implies that Fekete configurations for K are asymptotically equidistributed with respect to a canonical equilibrium measure, as p tends to infinite. We give here an explicit estimate for the speed of convergence. The result also holds in a general setting of Fekete points associated with an ample line bundle over a projective manifold. Our approach requires a new estimate on Bergman kernels for line bundles and quantitative results in pluripotential theory which are of independent interest.

Scaling asymptotics of heat kernels of line bundles

We consider a general Hermitian holomorphic line bundle $L$ on a compact complex manifold $M$ and let ${\Box}^q_p$ be the Kodaira Laplacian on $(0,q)$ forms with values in $L^p$. The main result is a complete asymptotic expansion for the semi-classically scaled heat kernel $\exp(-u{\Box}^q_p/p)(x,x)$ along the diagonal. It is a generalization of the Bergman/Szegö kernel asymptotics in the case of a positive line bundle, but no positivity is assumed. We give two proofs, one based on the Hadamard parametrix for the heat kernel on a principal bundle and the second based on the analytic localization of the Dirac-Dolbeault operator.

Characteristic Laplacian in sub-Riemannian geometry

We study a Laplacian operator related to the characteristic cohomology of a smooth manifold endowed with a distribution. We prove that this Laplacian does not behave very well: it is not hypoelliptic in general and does not respect the bigrading on forms in a complex setting. We also discuss the consequences of these negative results for a conjecture of P. Griffiths, concerning the characteristic cohomology of period domains.

Remark on the off-diagonal expansion of the Bergman kernel on compact Kähler manifolds

In this short note, we compare our previous works on the off-diagonal expansion of the Bergman kernel and the recent preprint of Lu-Shiffman (arxiv.1301.2166). In particular, we note that the vanishing of the coefficient of p^{-1/2} is implicitly contained in Dai-Liu-Ma's work (J. Differential Geom. 72 (2006), no. 1, 1-41) and was explicitly stated in our book (Holomorphic Morse inequalities and Bergman kernels, Progress in Math., vol. 254, Birkhäuser, 2007).

$η$-invariant and flat vector bundles

We present an alternate definition of the mod {\bf Z} component of the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer $η$ invariant associated to (not necessary unitary) flat vector bundles, which identifies explicitly its real and imaginary parts. This is done by combining a deformation of flat connections introduced in a previous paper with the analytic continuation procedure appearing in the original article of Atiyah, Patodi and Singer.

Generalized Bergman kernels on symplectic manifolds

We study the near diagonal asymptotic expansion of the generalized Bergman kernel of the renormalized Bochner-Laplacian on high tensor powers of a positive line bundle over a compact symplectic manifold. We show how to compute the coefficients of the expansion by recurrence and give a closed formula for the first two of them. As consequence, we calculate the density of states function of the Bochner-Laplacian and establish a symplectic version of the convergence of the induced Fubini-Study metric. We also discuss generalizations of the asymptotic expansion for non-compact or singular manifolds as well as their applications. Our approach is inspired by the analytic localization techniques of Bismut-Lebeau.

The first coefficients of the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel of the spin^c Dirac operator

We establish the existence of the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel associated to the spin-c Dirac operators acting on high tensor powers of line bundles with non-degenerate mixed curvature (negative and positive eigenvalues) by extending the paper " On the asymptotic expansion of Bergman kernel " (math.DG/0404494) of Dai-Liu-Ma. We compute the second coefficient b_1 in the asymptotic expansion using the method of our paper "Generalized Bergman kernels on symplectic manifolds" (math.DG/0411559).
