Classifying Topological Charge in SU(3) Yang-Mills Theory with Machine Learning

We apply a machine learning technique for identifying the topological charge of quantum gauge configurations in four-dimensional SU(3) Yang-Mills theory. The topological charge density measured on the original and smoothed gauge configurations with and without dimensional reduction is used as inputs for the neural networks (NN) with and without convolutional layers. The gradient flow is used for the smoothing of the gauge field. We find that the topological charge determined at a large flow time can be predicted with high accuracy from the data at small flow times by the trained NN; for example, the accuracy exceeds $99\%$ with the data at $t/a^2\le0.3$. High robustness against the change of simulation parameters is also confirmed with a fixed physical volume. We find that the best performance is obtained when the spatial coordinates of the topological charge density are fully integrated out in preprocessing, which implies that our convolutional NN does not find characteristic structures in multi-dimensional space relevant for the determination of the topological charge.

Essential model parameters for nonreciprocal magnons in multisublattice systems

We theoretically investigate the microscopic conditions for emergent nonreciprocal magnons toward unified understanding on the basis of a microscopic model analysis. We show that the products of the Bogoliubov Hamiltonian obtained within the linear spin wave approximation is enough to obtain the momentum-space functional form and the key ingredients in the nonreciprocal magnon dispersions in an analytical way even without solving the eigenvalue problems. We find that the odd order of an effective antisymmetric Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and/or the even order of an effective symmetric anisotropic interaction in the spin rotated frame can be a source of the antisymmetric dispersions. We present possible kinetic paths of magnons contributing to the antisymmetric dispersions in the one- to four-sublattice systems with the general exchange interactions. We also test the formula for both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic orderings in the absence of spatial inversion symmetry.

Anisotropy of the transport properties of NdFeAs(O,F) thin films grown on vicinal substrates

NdFeAs(O,F) thin films having different fluorine contents were grown on 5 deg. or 10 deg. vicinal cut MgO and CaF2 single crystalline substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. Structural characterisations by reflection high-energy electron diffraction and x-ray diffraction confirmed the epitaxial growth of NdFeAs(O,F). The resistivities of the ab-plane and along the c-axis were derived from the resistivity measurements in the longitudinal and transversal directions. The c-axis resistivity was always higher than the ab-plane resistivity, resulting from the anisotropic electronic structure. The resistivity anisotropy at 300 K was almost constant in the range of 50-90 irrespective of the F content. On the other hand, the resistivity anisotropy at 56 K showed a strong fluorine dependence: the resistivity anisotropy was over 200 for the films with optimum F contents (superconducting transition temperature Tc around 50 K), whereas the resistivity anisotropy was around 70 for the films in the under-doped regime (Tc between 35 and 45 K). The mass anisotropy are the effective masses along the c-axis and on the ab-plane) close to Tc derived from the anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau approach using the angular-dependency of the ab-plane resistivity was in the range from 2 to 5. On the assumption that the square of the mass anisotropy is equal to the resistivity anisotropy, those values are small compared to the normal state anisotropy.

On repetitiveness measures of Thue-Morse words

We show that the size $γ(t_n)$ of the smallest string attractor of the $n$th Thue-Morse word $t_n$ is 4 for any $n\geq 4$, disproving the conjecture by Mantaci et al. [ICTCS 2019] that it is $n$. We also show that $δ(t_n) = \frac{10}{3+2^{4-n}}$ for $n \geq 3$, where $δ(w)$ is the maximum over all $k = 1,\ldots,|w|$, the number of distinct substrings of length $k$ in $w$ divided by $k$, which is a measure of repetitiveness recently studied by Kociumaka et al. [LATIN 2020]. Furthermore, we show that the number $z(t_n)$ of factors in the self-referencing Lempel-Ziv factorization of $t_n$ is exactly $2n$.

Classifying topological sector via machine learning

We employ a machine learning technique for an estimate of the topological charge $Q$ of gauge configurations in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory in vacuum. As a first trial, we feed the four-dimensional topological charge density with and without smoothing into the convolutional neural network and train it to estimate the value of $Q$. We find that the trained neural network can estimate the value of $Q$ from the topological charge density at small flow time with high accuracy. Next, we perform the dimensional reduction of the input data as a preprocessing and analyze lower dimensional data by the neural network. We find that the accuracy of the neural network does not have statistically-significant dependence on the dimension of the input data. From this result we argue that the neural network does not find characteristic features responsible for the determination of $Q$ in the higher dimensional space.

Chiral Unitary Quantum Phase Transition in 2H-Fe$_x$TaSe$_2$

We have observed a metal-insulator transition of a quasi-two dimensional electronic system in transition metal dichalcogenide $2H$-TaSe$_2$ caused by doping iron. The sheet resistance of $2H$-Fe$_x$TaSe$_2$ ($0 \leq x \leq 0.120$) single crystals rises about $10^6$ times with the increasing of $x$ at the lowest temperature. We investigated the temperature dependence of the resistance and found a metal-insulator transition with a critical sheet resistance $11.7 \pm 5.4$ k$\rmΩ$. The critical exponent of the localization length $ν$ is estimated $0.31 \pm 0.18$. The values of the critical sheet resistance and $ν$ are accordant to those of the \textit{chiral unitary class} (less than $h/1.49e^2=17.3$ k$\rmΩ$ and $0.35 \pm 0.03$, respectively). We suggest that $2H$-Fe$_x$TaSe$_2$ is classified as the chiral unitary class, not as standard unitary class.

Explicit examples of DIM constraints for network matrix models

Dotsenko-Fateev and Chern-Simons matrix models, which describe Nekrasov functions for SYM theories in different dimensions, are all incorporated into network matrix models with the hidden Ding-Iohara-Miki (DIM) symmetry. This lifting is especially simple for what we call balanced networks. Then, the Ward identities (known under the names of Virasoro/W-constraints or loop equations or regularity condition for qq-characters) are also promoted to the DIM level, where they all become corollaries of a single identity.

Schrödinger geometries arising from Yang-Baxter deformations

We present further examples of the correspondence between solutions of type IIB supergravity and classical $r$-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). In the previous works, classical $r$-matrices have been composed of generators of only one of either $\mathfrak{so}(2,4)$ or $\mathfrak{so}(6)$. In this paper, we consider some examples of $r$-matrices with both of them. The $r$-matrices of this kind contain (generalized) Schrödinger spacetimes and gravity duals of dipole theories. It is known that the generalized Schrödinger spacetimes can also be obtained via a certain class of TsT transformations called null Melvin twists. The metric and NS-NS two-form are reproduced by following the Yang-Baxter sigma-model description.

Strong Coupling Superconductivity in the Vicinity of the Structural Quantum Critical Point in (Ca$_x$Sr$_{1-x}$)$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$

The family of the superconducting quasi-skutterudites (Ca$_x$Sr$_{1-x}$)$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$ features a structural quantum critical point at $x_c=0.9$, around which a dome-shaped variation of the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ is found. Using specific heat, we probe the normal and the superconducting states of the entire series straddling the quantum critical point. Our analysis indicates a significant lowering of the effective Debye temperature on approaching $x_c$, which we interpret as a result of phonon softening accompanying the structural instability. Furthermore, a remarkably large enhancement of $2Δ/k_BT_c$ and $ΔC/γT_c$ beyond the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) values is found in the vicinity of the structural quantum critical point. The phase diagram of (Ca$_{x}$Sr$_{1-x}$)$_3$Rh$_4$Sn$_{13}$ thus provides a model system to study the interplay between structural quantum criticality and strong electron-phonon coupling superconductivity.

Towards the gravity/CYBE correspondence beyond integrability -- Yang-Baxter deformations of $T^{1,1}$

Yang-Baxter sigma models, proposed by Klimcik and Delduc-Magro-Vicedo, have been recognized as a powerful framework for studying integrable deformations of two-dimensional non-linear sigma models. In this short article, as an important generalization, we review a non-integrable sigma model in the Yang-Baxter sigma model approach based on [arXiv:1406.2249]. In particular, we discuss a family of deformations of the 5D Sasaki-Einstein manifold $T^{1,1}$, instead of the standard deformations of the $5$-sphere S$^5$. For this purpose, we first describe a novel construction of $T^{1,1}$ as a supercoset, and provide a physical interpretation of this construction from viewpoint of the dual Klebanov-Witten field theory. Secondly, we consider a $3$-parameter deformation of $T^{1,1}$ by using classical $r$-matrices satisfying the classical Yang--Baxter equation (CYBE). The resulting metric and NS-NS two-form completely agree with the ones previously obtained via TsT (T-dual -- shift -- T-dual) transformations, and contain the Lunin-Maldacena background as a special case. Our result indicates that what we refer to as the gravity/CYBE(Classical Yang-Baxter Equation) correspondence can be extended beyond integrable cosets.

Yang-Baxter deformations of Minkowski spacetime

We study Yang-Baxter deformations of 4D Minkowski spacetime. The Yang-Baxter sigma model description was originally developed for principal chiral models based on a modified classical Yang-Baxter equation. It has been extended to coset curved spaces and models based on the usual classical Yang-Baxter equation. On the other hand, for flat space, there is the obvious problem that the standard bilinear form degenerates if we employ the familiar coset Poincaré group/Lorentz group. Instead we consider a slice of AdS$_5$ by embedding the 4D Poincaré group into the 4D conformal group $SO(2,4)$. With this procedure we obtain metrics and $B$-fields as Yang-Baxter deformations which correspond to well-known configurations such as T-duals of Melvin backgrounds, Hashimoto-Sethi and Spradlin-Takayanagi-Volovich backgrounds, the T-dual of Grant space, pp-waves, and T-duals of dS$_4$ and AdS$_4$. Finally we consider a deformation with a classical $r$-matrix of Drinfeld-Jimbo type and explicitly derive the associated metric and $B$-field which we conjecture to correspond to a new integrable system.

Yang-Baxter sigma models based on the CYBE

It is known that Yang-Baxter sigma models provide a systematic way to study integrable deformations of both principal chiral models and symmetric coset sigma models. In the original proposal and its subsequent development, the deformations have been characterized by classical $r$-matrices satisfying the modified classical Yang-Baxter equation (mCYBE). In this article, we propose the Yang-Baxter sigma models based on the classical Yang-Baxter equations (CYBE) rather than the mCYBE. This generalization enables us to utilize various kinds of solutions of the CYBE to classify integrable deformations. In particular, it is straightforward to realize partial deformations of the target space without loss of the integrability of the parent theory.

A Jordanian deformation of AdS space in type IIB supergravity

We consider a Jordanian deformation of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring action by taking a simple R-operator which satisfies the classical Yang-Baxter equation. The metric and NS-NS two-form are explicitly derived with a coordinate system. Only the AdS part is deformed and the resulting geometry contains the 3D Schrodinger spacetime as a subspace. Then we present the full solution in type IIB supergravity by determining the other field components. In particular, the dilaton is constant and a R-R three-form field strength is turned on. The symmetry of the solution is [SL(2,R)xU(1)^2] x [SU(3)xU(1)] and contains an anisotropic scale symmetry.

Deformations of $T^{1,1}$ as Yang-Baxter sigma models

We consider a family of deformations of T^{1,1} in the Yang-Baxter sigma model approach. We first discuss a supercoset description of T^{1,1}, which makes manifest the full symmetry of the space and leads to the standard Sasaki-Einstein metric. Next, we consider three-parameter deformations of T^{1,1} by using classical r-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). The resulting metric and NS-NS two-form agree exactly with the ones obtained via TsT transformations, and contain the Lunin-Maldacena background as a special case. It is worth noting that for AdS_5 x T^{1,1}, classical integrability for the full sector has been argued to be lost. Hence our result indicates that the Yang-Baxter sigma model approach is applicable even for non-integrable cosets. This observation suggests that the gravity/CYBE correspondence can be extended beyond integrable cases.

Integrability of classical strings dual for noncommutative gauge theories

We derive the gravity duals of noncommutative gauge theories from the Yang-Baxter sigma model description of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring with classical r-matrices. The corresponding classical r-matrices are 1) solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE), 2) skew-symmetric, 3) nilpotent and 4) abelian. Hence these should be called abelian Jordanian deformations. As a result, the gravity duals are shown to be integrable deformations of AdS_5xS^5. Then, abelian twists of AdS_5 are also investigated. These results provide a support for the gravity/CYBE correspondence proposed in arXiv:1404.1838.

Integrable deformations of the AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ superstring and the classical Yang-Baxter equation -- Towards the gravity/CYBE correspondence --

Based on the formulation of Yang-Baxter sigma models developed by Klimcik and Delduc-Magro-Vicedo, we explain that various deformations of type IIB superstring on AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ can be characterized by classical $r$-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). The relation may be referred to as `the gravity/CYBE correspondence.' We present non-trivial examples of the correspondence including Lunin-Maldacena backgrounds for $β$-deformations of the ${\cal N} = 4$ super Yang-Mills theory and the gravity duals for non-commutative gauge theories. We also discuss non-integrable backgrounds such as AdS$_5\times T^{1,1}$ as a generalization.

Jordanian deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring

We consider Jordanian deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring action. The deformations correspond to non-standard q-deformation. In particular, it is possible to perform partial deformations, for example, only for the S^5 part. Then the classical action and the Lax pair are constructed with a linear, twisted and extended R operator. It is shown that the action preserves the kappa-symmetry.

Lunin-Maldacena backgrounds from the classical Yang-Baxter equation -- Towards the gravity/CYBE correspondence

We consider γ-deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring as Yang-Baxter sigma models with classical r-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). An essential point is that the classical r-matrices are composed of Cartan generators only and then generate abelian twists. We present examples of the r-matrices that lead to real γ-deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 superstring. Finally we discuss a possible classification of integrable deformations and the corresponding gravity solution in terms of solutions of CYBE. This classification may be called the gravity/CYBE correspondence.

Representations of centrally extended Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{psl}(2|2)$

The symmetries provided by representations of the centrally extended Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{psl}(2|2)$ are known to play an important role in the spin chain models originated in the planar anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence and one-dimensional Hubbard model. We give a complete description of finite-dimensional irreducible representations of this superalgebra thus extending the work of Beisert which deals with a generic family of representations. Our description includes a new class of modules with degenerate eigenvalues of the central elements. Moreover, we construct explicit bases in all irreducible representations by applying the techniques of Mickelsson--Zhelobenko algebras.

Yang-Baxter deformations and string dualities

We further study integrable deformations of the AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ superstring by following the Yang-Baxter sigma model approach with classical $r$-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). Deformed string backgrounds specified by $r$-matrices are considered as solutions of type IIB supergravity, and therefore the relation between gravitational solutions and $r$-matrices may be called the gravity/CYBE correspondence. In this paper, we present a family of string backgrounds associated with a classical $r$-matrices carrying two parameters and its three-parameter generalization. The two-parameter case leads to the metric and NS-NS two-form of a solution found by Hubeny-Rangamani-Ross [hep-th/0504034] and another solution in [arXiv:1402.6147]. For all of the backgrounds associated with the three-parameter case, the metric and NS-NS two-form are reproduced by performing TsT transformations and S-dualities for the undeformed AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ background. As a result, one can anticipate the R-R sector that should be reproduced via a supercoset construction.

Schrodinger Sigma Models and Jordanian Twists

We proceed to study the integrable structures of two-dimensional non-linear sigma models defined on three-dimensional Schrodinger spacetimes. We show that anisotropic Lax pairs are equivalent with isotropic Lax pairs with flat conserved currents under non-local gauge transformations. Then a quite non-trivial realization of the undeformed Yangian symmetry Y(sl(2)) is revealed after an appropriate gauge fixing, which is determined by comparing the gauge transformation to a quantum Jordanian twist. As a result, an exotic symmetry found in arXiv:1209.4147 may be interpreted as a Jordanian deformation of Y(sl(2)).

A Quantum Affine Algebra for the Deformed Hubbard Chain

The integrable structure of the one-dimensional Hubbard model is based on Shastry's R-matrix and the Yangian of a centrally extended sl(2|2) superalgebra. Alcaraz and Bariev have shown that the model admits an integrable deformation whose R-matrix has recently been found. This R-matrix is of trigonometric type and here we derive its underlying exceptional quantum affine algebra. We also show how the algebra reduces to the above mentioned Yangian and to the conventional quantum affine sl(2|2) algebra in two special limits.

Coideal Quantum Affine Algebra and Boundary Scattering of the Deformed Hubbard Chain

We consider boundary scattering for a semi-infinite one-dimensional deformed Hubbard chain with boundary conditions of the same type as for the Y=0 giant graviton in the AdS/CFT correspondence. We show that the recently constructed quantum affine algebra of the deformed Hubbard chain has a coideal subalgebra which is consistent with the reflection (boundary Yang-Baxter) equation. We derive the corresponding reflection matrix and furthermore show that the aforementioned algebra in the rational limit specializes to the (generalized) twisted Yangian of the Y=0 giant graviton.

On the classical equivalence of monodromy matrices in squashed sigma model

We proceed to study the hybrid integrable structure in two-dimensional non-linear sigma models with target space three-dimensional squashed spheres. A quantum affine algebra and a pair of Yangian algebras are realized in the sigma models and, according to them, there are two descriptions to describe the classical dynamics 1) the trigonometric description and 2) the rational description, respectively. For every description, a Lax pair is constructed and the associated monodromy matrix is also constructed. In this paper we show the gauge-equivalence of the monodromy matrices in the trigonometric and rational description under a certain relation between spectral parameters and the rescalings of sl(2) generators.

The classical origin of quantum affine algebra in squashed sigma models

We consider a quantum affine algebra realized in two-dimensional non-linear sigma models with target space three-dimensional squashed sphere. Its affine generators are explicitly constructed and the Poisson brackets are computed. The defining relations of quantum affine algebra in the sense of the Drinfeld first realization are satisfied at classical level. The relation to the Drinfeld second realization is also discussed including higher conserved charges. Finally we comment on a semiclassical limit of quantum affine algebra at quantum level.

An Exceptional Algebraic Origin of the AdS/CFT Yangian Symmetry

In the su(2|2) spin chain motivated by the AdS/CFT correspondence, a novel symmetry extending the superalgebra su(2|2) into u(2|2) was found. We pursue the origin of this symmetry in the exceptional superalgebra d(2,1;epsilon), which recovers su(2|2) when the parameter epsilon is taken to zero. Especially, we rederive the Yangian symmetries of the AdS/CFT spin chain using the exceptional superalgebra and find that the epsilon-correction corresponds to the novel symmetry. Also, we reproduce the non-canonical classical r-matrix of the AdS/CFT spin chain expressed with this symmetry from the canonical one of the exceptional algebra.
