Investigating Top-Higgs FCNC Couplings at the FCC-hh

We have studied the sensitivity to flavor changing neutral current interaction of top and Higgs boson at the future circular collider in the hadron-hadron collision mode (FCC-hh). Our main concerns are the processes of pp→thpp\rightarrow th (FCNC production) and pp→ttˉpp\rightarrow t\bar{t} (one top FCNC decay) which contributes to the single lepton, at least three jets and the missing energy transverse in the final state. On the one hand FCC-hh offers very high luminosity and large cross section for these signal processes, on the other hand signal can be distinguished from background which needs application of ingenious methods. Here, we have inspired and followed the searches at the LHC using our analysis path and enhanced attainable limits obtained on the possible top-Higgs FCNC couplings phenomenologically. We obtain new limits which are beyond the current experimental limits obtained from different channels and processes at the LHC. The potential discovery or exclusion limits on branching ratios for tqHtqH FCNC interactions can be set BR(ηuc)disc=9.08×10−6BR(η_{uc})_{\mathrm{disc}}=9.08\times10^{-6} or BR(ηuc)exc=2.78×10−6BR(η_{uc})_{\mathrm{exc}}=2.78\times10^{-6} at an integrated luminosity of 30 ab−1^{-1} , respectively. Our results are compatible with the other channels already studied at FCC-hh.

Observation of a cross-section enhancement near mass threshold in e+e−→ΛΛˉe^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ

The process e+e−→ΛΛˉe^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ is studied using data samples at s=2.2324\sqrt{s}=2.2324, 2.400, 2.800 and 3.080 GeV collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section is measured at s\sqrt{s}=2.2324 GeV, which is 1.0 MeV above the ΛΛˉΛ\barΛ mass threshold, to be 305±45−36+66305\pm45^{+66}_{-36} pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The substantial cross section near threshold is significantly larger than that expected from theory, which predicts the cross section to vanish at threshold. The Born cross sections at s\sqrt{s}=2.400, 2.800 and 3.080 GeV are measured and found to be consistent with previous experimental results, but with improved precision. Finally, the corresponding effective electromagnetic form factors of ΛΛ are deduced.

The projections on ZZγZZγ and ZγγZγγ couplings via ννˉγν\bar νγ production in HL-LHC and HE-LHC

We investigate the sensitivity of the anomalous dimension-8 neutral triple gauge couplings via process pp→ννγpp\to ννγ with fast detector simulation including pile-up effects for the post LHC experiments. The transverse momentum of the final state photon and missing energy transverse distributions are considered in the analysis. We obtain the sensitivity to the CB~W/Λ4C_{\widetilde B W}/Λ^4, CBB/Λ4C_{B B}/Λ^4, CWW/Λ4C_{WW}/Λ^4 and CBW/Λ4C_{BW}/Λ^4 couplings at HL-LHC and HE-LHC with an integrated luminosity of 3 ab−1^{-1} and 15 ab−1^{-1}, respectively. Finally, our numerical results show that one can reach the constraints at 95\% confidence level without systematic error on CB~W/Λ4C_{\widetilde BW}/Λ^4, CBB/Λ4C_{B B}/Λ^4, CWW/Λ4C_{W W}/Λ^4 and CBW/Λ4C_{BW}/Λ^4 couplings for HL-LHC (HE-LHC) as [-0.38;0.38] ([-0.12;0.12]), [-0.21;0.21]([-0.085;0.085]), [-1.08;1.08]([-0.38;0.38]) and [-0.48;0.48]([-0.25;0.25]), respectively. They are better than the experimental limits obtained by LHC.

Sensitivity on Anomalous Neutral Triple Gauge Couplings via ZZZZ Production at FCC-hh

We study the sensitivity of anomalous neutral triple gauge couplings (aNTGCaNTGC) via pp→ZZpp \rightarrow ZZ production in the 4ℓ\ell channel at 100 TeV centre of mass energy of future circular hadron collider, \verb"FCC-hh". The analysis including the realistic detector effects is performed in the mode where both Z bosons decay into same flavor, oppositely charged lepton pairs. The sensitivities to the charge-parity (CP)-conserving CB~W/Λ4C_{\tilde{B}W} / Λ^{4} and CP-violating CWW/Λ4C_{WW} / Λ^{4}, CBW/Λ4C_{BW} / Λ^{4} and CBB/Λ4C_{BB} / Λ^{4} couplings obtained at 95\% Confidence Level (C.L.) using the invariant mass distribution of 4ℓ\ell system reconstructing the leading and sub-leading Z boson candidates are [−0.117,  +0.117][-0.117, \,\, +0.117], [−0.293,  +0.292][-0.293, \,\, +0.292], [−0.380,  +0.379][-0.380, \,\, +0.379], and [−0.138,  +0.138][-0.138, \,\, +0.138] in the unit of TeV−4^{-4}, respectively.

Study on Anomalous Neutral Triple Gauge Boson Couplings from Dimension-eight Operators at the HL-LHC

The anomalous neutral triple gauge boson couplings (aNTGCs) for the Z gamma gamma and Z gamma Z vertices described by dimension-eight operators are examined through the process pp to l^{+}l^{-} gamma at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). We performed an analysis on transverse momentum of photon and angular distribution of charged lepton in the final state including detector effects. Sensitivity limits of the C_{\widetilde{B}W}, C_{BB} couplings are obtained at 95 % C.L. to constrain for the range [-1.88: 1.88] TeV^{-4}, [-1.47: 1.47] TeV^{-4} and [-1.14:1.14] TeV^{-4}, [-0.86: 0.86] TeV^{-4} with an integrated luminosity of 300 fb^{-1} and 3000 fb^{-1}, respectively.

DEMIRCI: An RFQ Design Software

The development and production of radio frequency quadrupoles, which are used for accelerating low-energy ions to high energies, continues since 1970s. The development of RFQ design software packages, which can provide ease of use with a graphical interface, can visualize the behavior of the ion beam inside the RFQ, and can run on both Unix and Windows platforms, has become inevitable due to increasing interest around the world. In this context, a new RFQ design software package, DEMIRCI, has been under development. To meet the user expectations, a number of new features have been recently added to DEMIRCI. Apart from being usable via both graphical interface and command line, DEMIRCI has been enriched with beam dynamics calculations. This new module gives users the possibility to define and track an input beam and to monitor its behavior along the RFQ. Additionally, the Windows OS has been added to the list of supported platforms. Finally, the addition of more realistic 8 term potential results has been ongoing. This note will summarize the latest developments and results from DEMIRCI RFQ design software.

Effects of the FCNC couplings in production of new heavy quarks within Z' models at the LHC

We study the flavor changing neutral current couplings of new heavy quarks through the Z' models at the LHC. We calculate the cross sections for the signal and the corresponding standard model background processes. Considering the present limits on the mass of new heavy quarks and the Z' boson, we performed an analysis to investigate the parameter space (mixing and mass) through different Z' models. For an FCNC mixing parameter x=0.1 and the Z' mass M_{Z'}=2000 GeV, and new heavy quark mass m_{t'}=700 GeV at the LHC with \sqrt{s}=13 TeV, we find the cross section for single production of new heavy quarks associated with top quarks as 5.8 fb, 3.3 fb, 1.5 fb and 1.2 fb within the Z'_η , Z'_ψ , Z'_{LP} and Z'_χ models, respectively. It is shown that the sensitivity would benefit from the flavor tagging.

Improved measurement of the absolute branching fraction of D+→Kˉ0μ+νμD^{+}\rightarrow \bar K^0 μ^{+}ν_μ

By analyzing 2.93 fb−1^{-1} of data collected at s=3.773\sqrt s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fraction B(D+→Kˉ0μ+νμ)=(8.72±0.07stat.±0.18sys.)%{\mathcal B}(D^{+}\rightarrow\bar K^0μ^{+}ν_μ)=(8.72 \pm 0.07_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.18_{\rm sys.})\%, which is consistent with previous measurements within uncertainties but with significantly improved precision. Combining the Particle Data Group values of B(D0→K−μ+νμ){\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ), B(D+→Kˉ0e+νe){\mathcal B}(D^{+}\rightarrow\bar K^0 e^{+}ν_{e}), and the lifetimes of the D0D^0 and D+D^+ mesons with the value of B(D+→Kˉ0μ+νμ){\mathcal B}(D^{+}\rightarrow\bar K^0 μ^{+}ν_μ) measured in this work, we determine the following ratios of partial widths: Γ(D0→K−μ+νμ)/Γ(D+→Kˉ0μ+νμ)=0.963±0.044Γ(D^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ)/Γ(D^{+}\rightarrow\bar K^0μ^{+}ν_μ)=0.963\pm0.044 and Γ(D+→Kˉ0μ+νμ)/Γ(D+→Kˉ0e+νe)=0.988±0.033Γ(D^{+}\rightarrow\bar K^0 μ^{+}ν_μ)/Γ(D^{+}\rightarrow\bar K^0 e^{+}ν_{e})=0.988\pm0.033.

Measurement of azimuthal asymmetries in inclusive charged dipion production in e+e−e^+e^- annihilations at s\sqrt{s} = 3.65 GeV

We present a measurement of the azimuthal asymmetries of two charged pions in the inclusive process e+e−→ππXe^+e^-\rightarrow ππX based on a data set of 62 pb−1\rm{pb}^{-1} at the center-of-mass energy s=3.65\sqrt{s}=3.65 GeV collected with the BESIII detector. These asymmetries can be attributed to the Collins fragmentation function. We observe a nonzero asymmetry, which increases with increasing pion momentum. As our energy scale is close to that of the existing semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering experimental data, the measured asymmetries are important inputs for the global analysis of extracting the quark transversity distribution inside the nucleon and are valuable to explore the energy evolution of the spin-dependent fragmentation function.

Measurement of the Ds+→ℓ+νℓD_s^+ \to \ell^+ν_\ell branching fractions and the decay constant fDs+f_{D_s^+}

Using 482~pb−1^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of s=4.009\sqrt{s} = 4.009 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fractions of the decays Ds+→μ+νμD_s^+\toμ^+ν_μ and Ds+→τ+ντD_s^+\toτ^+ν_τ. By constraining the ratio of decay rates of Ds+D_s^+ to τ+νττ^+ν_τ and to μ+νμμ^+ν_μ to the Standard Model prediction, the branching fractions are determined to be B(Ds+→μ+νμ)=(0.495±0.067±0.026)%\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to μ^+ν_μ) = (0.495 \pm 0.067 \pm 0.026)\% and B(Ds+→τ+ντ)=(4.83±0.65±0.26)%\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to τ^+ν_τ) = (4.83 \pm 0.65 \pm 0.26)\%. Using these branching fractions, we obtain a value for the decay constant fDs+f_{D_s^+} of (241.0±16.3±6.5) MeV(241.0 \pm 16.3 \pm 6.5)~\text{MeV}, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.

Using a data set of 2.93 fb−1^{-1} taken at a center-of-mass energy of s\sqrt{s} = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the process e+e−→J/ψγ→μ+μ−γe^+e^-\rightarrow J/ψγ\rightarrow μ^+μ^-γ and determine the product of the branching fraction and the electronic width Bμμ⋅Γee=(333.4±2.5stat±4.4sys)\mathcal B_{μμ}\cdot Γ_{ee} = (333.4 \pm 2.5_{\rm stat} \pm 4.4_{\rm sys})~eV. Measurements of absolute hadronic branching fractions of Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} baryon

Using 567pb−1567\rm{pb}^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- collisions recorded at s=4.599GeV\sqrt{s}=4.599\rm{GeV} with the BESIII detector, we report first measurements of absolute hadronic branching fractions of Cabibbo-favored decays of the Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} baryon with a double-tag technique. A global least-square fitter is utilized to improve the measured precision. Among the measurements for twelve Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} decay modes, the branching fraction for Λc+→pK−π+Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow pK^-π^+ is determined to be (5.84±0.27±0.23)%(5.84\pm0.27\pm0.23)\%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, the measurements of the branching fractions of the other eleven Cabbibo-favored hadronic decay modes are significantly improved.

Observation of e+e−→ωχc1,2e^+e^- \rightarrow ωχ_{c1,2} near s\sqrt{s} = 4.42 and 4.6 GeV

Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring at center-of-mass energies s>\sqrt{s} > 4.4 GeV, the processes e+e−→ωχc1,2e^+e^- \rightarrow ωχ_{c1,2} are observed for the first time. With an integrated luminosity of 1074pb−11074 pb^{-1} near s=\sqrt{s} = 4.42 GeV, a significant ωχc2ωχ_{c2} signal is found, and the cross section is measured to be $(20.9 \pm 3.2 \pm 2.5)\pb$. With 567pb−1567 pb^{-1} near s=\sqrt{s} = 4.6 GeV, a clear ωχc1ωχ_{c1} signal is seen, and the cross section is measured to be $(9.5 \pm 2.1 \pm 1.3) \pb$, while evidence is found for an ωχc2ωχ_{c2} signal. The first errors are statistical and the second are systematic. Due to low luminosity or low cross section at other energies, no significant signals are observed. In the ωχc2ωχ_{c2} cross section, an enhancement is seen around s=\sqrt{s} = 4.42 GeV. Fitting the cross section with a coherent sum of the ψ(4415)ψ(4415) Breit-Wigner function and a phase space term, the branching fraction B(ψ(4415)→ωχc2)\mathcal{B}(ψ(4415)\toωχ_{c2}) is obtained to be of the order of 10−310^{-3}.

Observation of an anomalous line shape of the η′π+π−η^{\prime}π^{+}π^{-} mass spectrum near the ppˉp\bar{p} mass threshold in J/ψ→γη′π+π−J/ψ\rightarrowγη^{\prime}π^{+}π^{-}

Using 1.09×1091.09\times10^{9} J/ψJ/ψ events collected by the BESIII experiment in 2012, we study the J/ψ→γη′π+π−J/ψ\rightarrowγη^{\prime}π^{+}π^{-} process and observe a significant abrupt change in the slope of the η′π+π−η^{\prime}π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass distribution at the proton-antiproton (ppˉp\bar{p}) mass threshold. We use two models to characterize the η′π+π−η^{\prime}π^{+}π^{-} line shape around 1.85 GeV/c21.85~\text{GeV}/c^{2}: one which explicitly incorporates the opening of a decay threshold in the mass spectrum (Flatté formula), and another which is the coherent sum of two resonant amplitudes. Both fits show almost equally good agreement with data, and suggest the existence of either a broad state around 1.85 GeV/c21.85~\text{GeV}/c^{2} with strong couplings to ppˉp\bar{p} final states or a narrow state just below the ppˉp\bar{p} mass threshold. Although we cannot distinguish between the fits, either one supports the existence of a ppˉp\bar{p} molecule-like state or bound state with greater than 7σ7σ significance.

Observation of pseudoscalar and tensor resonances in J/ψ→γϕϕJ/ψ\rightarrow γϕϕ

Results of the partial wave analysis show that the structures are predominantly 0−+0^{-+} states. The existence of the η(2225)η(2225) is confirmed, and its resonance parameters are measured. Two additional pseudoscalar states, the η(2100)η(2100) with a mass of 2050−24+30−26+752050_{-24}^{+30}{}_{-26}^{+75}~MeV/c2c^{2} and a width of 250−30+36−164+181250_{-30}^{+36}{}_{-164}^{+181}~MeV/c2c^{2} and the X(2500)X(2500) with a mass of 2470−19+15−23+1012470_{-19}^{+15}{}_{-23}^{+101}~MeV/c2c^{2} and a width of 230−35+64−33+56230_{-35}^{+64}{}_{-33}^{+56}~MeV/c2c^{2}, are observed. In addition to these three pseudoscalar states, the scalar state f0(2100)f_0(2100), and three tensor states, the f2(2010)f_2(2010), f2(2300)f_2(2300) and f2(2340)f_2(2340), are observed in the process J/ψ→γϕϕJ/ψ\rightarrow γϕϕ. An amplitude analysis of the π0π0π^{0}π^{0} system produced in radiative J/ψJ/ψ decays

An amplitude analysis of the π0π0π^{0}π^{0} system produced in radiative J/ψJ/ψ decays is presented. In particular, a piecewise function that describes the dynamics of the π0π0π^{0}π^{0} system is determined as a function of Mπ0π0M_{π^{0}π^{0}} from an analysis of the (1.311±0.011)×109(1.311\pm0.011)\times10^{9} J/ψJ/ψ decays collected by the BESIII detector. The goal of this analysis is to provide a description of the scalar and tensor components of the π0π0π^0π^0 system while making minimal assumptions about the properties or number of poles in the amplitude. Such a model-independent description allows one to integrate these results with other related results from complementary reactions in the development of phenomenological models, which can then be used to directly fit experimental data to obtain parameters of interest. The branching fraction of J/ψ→γπ0π0J/ψ\to γπ^{0}π^{0} is determined to be (1.15±0.05)×10−3(1.15\pm0.05)\times10^{-3}, where the uncertainty is systematic only and the statistical uncertainty is negligible.

Confirmation of a charged charmoniumlike state Zc(3885)∓Z_c(3885)^{\mp} in e+e−→π±(DDˉ∗)∓e^+e^-\toπ^{\pm}(D\bar{D}^*)^\mp with double DD tag

We present a study of the process e+e−→π±(DDˉ∗)∓e^+e^-\toπ^{\pm}(D\bar{D}^*)^{\mp} using data samples of 1092~pb−1^{-1} at s=4.23\sqrt{s}=4.23~GeV and 826~pb−1^{-1} at s=4.26\sqrt{s}=4.26~GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. With full reconstruction of the DD meson pair and the bachelor π±π^{\pm} in the final state, we confirm the existence of the charged structure Zc(3885)∓Z_c(3885)^{\mp} in the (DDˉ∗)∓(D\bar{D}^*)^{\mp} system in the two isospin processes e+e−→π+D0D∗−e^+e^-\toπ^+D^0D^{*-} and e+e−→π+D−D∗0e^+e^-\toπ^+D^-D^{*0}. By performing a simultaneous fit, the statistical significance of Zc(3885)∓Zc(3885)^{\mp} signal is determined to be greater than 10σσ, and its pole mass and width are measured to be MpoleM_{\rm{pole}}=(3881.7±\pm1.6(stat.)±\pm1.6(syst.))~MeV/c2c^2 and ΓpoleΓ_{\rm{pole}}=(26.6±\pm2.0(stat.)±\pm2.1(syst.))~MeV, respectively. The Born cross section times the (DDˉ∗)∓(D\bar{D}^*)^{\mp} branching fraction (σ(e+e−→π±Zc(3885)∓)×Br(Zc(3885)∓→(DDˉ∗)∓)σ(e^+e^-\toπ^{\pm}Z_{c}(3885)^{\mp}) \times Br(Z_{c}(3885)^{\mp}\to(D\bar{D}^*)^{\mp})) is measured to be (141.6±7.9(stat.)±12.3(syst.)) pb(141.6\pm7.9(\text{stat.})\pm12.3(\text{syst.}))~\text{pb} at s=4.23\sqrt{s}=4.23~GeV and (108.4±6.9(stat.)±8.8(syst.)) pb(108.4\pm6.9(\text{stat.})\pm8.8(\text{syst.}))~\text{pb} at s=4.26\sqrt{s}=4.26~GeV. The polar angular distribution of the π±π^{\pm}-Zc(3885)∓Z_c(3885)^{\mp} system is consistent with the expectation of a quantum number assignment of JP=1+J^P=1^+ for Zc(3885)∓Z_c(3885)^{\mp}.

Effect of composition on magnetocaloric properties of Mn3 _{3} Ga(1−x) _{(1-x)} Snx _{x} C

A study investigating the effect of Sn substitution on the magnetocaloric properties of Mn3 _{3} Ga(1−x) _{(1-x)} Snx _{x} C compounds reveals that nature of the MCE has a strong dependence on the nature of the magnetic ordering. For small amounts of Sn (x≤0.2 x\leq0.2 ) the MCE is of the inverse type wherein an increase in the applied field beyond 5T gives rise to a table like temperature dependence of the entropy due to a coupling between the first order FM - AFM transition and the field induced AFM - FM transition. Replacement of Ga by larger concentrations of Sn (x≥0.71 x\geq0.71 ) (ΔSM)(ΔS_M) results in a change of the MCE to a conventional type with very little variation in the position of (ΔSM)max(ΔS_M)_{max} with increasing magnetic field. This has been explained to be due to the local strain introduced by A site ions (Ga/Sn) which affect the magnetostructural coupling in these compounds.

Measurement of yCPy_{CP} in D0−D‾0D^0-\overline{D}^0 oscillation using quantum correlations in e+e−→D0D‾0e^+e^-\to D^0\overline{D}^0 at s\sqrt{s} = 3.773\,GeV

We report a measurement of the parameter yCPy_{CP} in $\ensuremath{D^0}\xspace-\ensuremath{\overline{D}^{0}}\xspace$ oscillations performed by taking advantage of quantum coherence between pairs of $\ensuremath{D^0}\xspace \ensuremath{\overline{D}^{0}}\xspace$ mesons produced in e+e−e^+e^- annihilations near threshold. In this work, doubly-tagged $\ensuremath{D^0}\xspace \ensuremath{\overline{D}^{0}}\xspace$ events, where one DD decays to a CPCP eigenstate and the other DD decays in a semileptonic mode, are reconstructed using a data sample of 2.92\,fb−1^{-1} collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of s\sqrt{s} = 3.773\,GeV. We obtain yCP=(−2.0±1.3±0.7)%y_{CP} = (-2.0\pm1.3\pm0.7)\%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result is compatible with the current world average.

We extract the e+e−→π+π−e^+e^-\rightarrow π^+π^- cross section in the energy range between 600 and 900 MeV, exploiting the method of initial state radiation. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1^{-1} taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider is used. Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies from 3.810 to 4.600 GeV, we perform a study of e+e−→ηJ/ψe^{+}e^{-} \to ηJ/ψ and π0J/ψπ^0 J/ψ. The measured energy-dependent Born cross section for e+e−→ηJ/ψe^{+}e^{-} \to ηJ/ψ shows an enhancement around 4.2~GeV. Measurement of the absolute branching fraction for Λc+→Λe+νeΛ^+_{c}\to Λe^+ν_e

We report the first absolute measurement of the branching fraction of Λc+→Λe+νeΛ^+_{c}\rightarrow Λe^+ν_e. This measurement is based on 567 pb−1^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- annihilation data produced at s=4.599\sqrt{s}=4.599 GeV, which is just above the Λc+Λˉc−Λ^+_c\barΛ^-_c threshold. The data were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The branching fraction is determined to be B(Λc+→Λe+νe)=(3.63±0.38(stat)±0.20(syst))%\mathcal B({Λ^+_c\rightarrow Λe^+ν_e})=(3.63\pm0.38({\rm stat})\pm0.20({\rm syst}))\%, representing a more than twofold improvement in precision upon previously published results. As the branching fraction for Λc+→Λe+νeΛ^+_{c}\rightarrow Λe^+ν_e is the benchmark for those of other Λc+Λ^+_c semileptonic channels, our result provides a unique test of different theoretical models, which is the most stringent to date.

Measurement of the proton form factor by studying e+e−→ppˉe^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow p\bar{p}

Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the Born cross section of e+e−→ppˉe^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow p\bar{p} at 12 center-of-mass energies from 2232.4 to 3671.0 MeV. The corresponding effective electromagnetic form factor of the proton is deduced under the assumption that the electric and magnetic form factors are equal (∣GE∣=∣GM∣)(|G_{E}|= |G_{M}|). In addition, the ratio of electric to magnetic form factors, ∣GE/GM∣|G_{E}/G_{M}|, and ∣GM∣|G_{M}| are extracted by fitting the polar angle distribution of the proton for the data samples with larger statistics, namely at s=\sqrt{s}= 2232.4 and 2400.0 MeV and a combined sample at s\sqrt{s} = 3050.0, 3060.0 and 3080.0 MeV, respectively. The measured cross sections are in agreement with recent results from BaBar, improving the overall uncertainty by about 30\%. The ∣GE/GM∣|G_{E}/G_{M}| ratios are close to unity and consistent with BaBar results in the same q2q^{2} region, which indicates the data are consistent with the assumption that ∣GE∣=∣GM∣|G_{E}|=|G_{M}| within uncertainties.

Observation of the ψ(13D2)ψ(1^3D_2) state in e+e−→π+π−γχc1e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-γχ_{c1} at BESIII

We report the observation of the X(3823)X(3823) in the process e+e−→π+π−X(3823)→π+π−γχc1e^+e^-\to π^+π^-X(3823) \to π^+π^-γχ_{c1} with a statistical significance of 6.2σ6.2σ, in data samples at center-of-mass energies s=\sqrt{s}=4.230, 4.260, 4.360, 4.420 and 4.600~GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron positron collider. The measured mass of the X(3823)X(3823) is (3821.7±1.3±0.7)(3821.7\pm 1.3\pm 0.7)~MeV/c2c^2, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic, and the width is less than 1616~MeV at the 90\% confidence level. The products of the Born cross sections for e+e−→π+π−X(3823)e^+e^-\to π^+π^-X(3823) and the branching ratio B[X(3823)→γχc1,c2]\mathcal{B}[X(3823)\to γχ_{c1,c2}] are also measured. These measurements are in good agreement with the assignment of the X(3823)X(3823) as the ψ(13D2)ψ(1^3D_2) charmonium state.

Observation of the Dalitz Decay η′→γe+e−η' \to γe^+e^-

We report the first observation of the Dalitz decay η′→γe+e−η' \to γe^+e^-, based on a data sample of 1.31 billion J/ψJ/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector. The η′η' mesons are produced via the J/ψ→γη′J/ψ\to γη' decay process. The ratio Γ(η′→γe+e−)/Γ(η′→γγ)Γ(η' \to γe^+ e^-)/Γ(η'\toγγ) is measured to be (2.13±0.09(stat.)±0.07(sys.))×10−2(2.13\pm0.09(\text{stat.})\pm0.07(\text{sys.}))\times10^{-2}. This corresponds to a branching fraction B(η′→γe+e−)=(4.69±0.20(stat.)±0.23(sys.))×10−4{\cal B}(η' \to γe^+e^-)= (4.69 \pm0.20(\text{stat.})\pm0.23(\text{sys.}))\times10^{-4}. The transition form factor is extracted and different expressions are compared to the measured dependence on the e+e−e^+e^- invariant mass. The results are consistent with the prediction of the Vector Meson Dominance model.

Observation of the electromagnetic doubly OZI-suppressed decay J/ψ→ϕπ0J/ψ\rightarrow ϕπ^{0}

Using a sample of 1.311.31 billion J/ψJ/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report the observation of the decay J/ψ→ϕπ0J/ψ\rightarrow ϕπ^{0}, which is the first evidence for a doubly Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka suppressed electromagnetic J/ψJ/ψ decay. A clear structure is observed in the K+K−K^{+} K^{-} mass spectrum around 1.02 GeV/c2c^2, which can be attributed to interference between J/ψ→ϕπ0J/ψ\rightarrow ϕπ^{0} and J/ψ→K+K−π0J/ψ\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}π^{0} decays. Due to this interference, two possible solutions are found. The corresponding measured values of the branching fraction of J/ψ→ϕπ0J/ψ\to ϕπ^{0} are [2.94±0.16(stat.)±0.16(syst.)]×10−6[2.94 \pm 0.16\text{(stat.)} \pm 0.16\text{(syst.)}] \times 10^{-6} and [1.24±0.33(stat.)±0.30(syst.)]×10−7[1.24 \pm 0.33\text{(stat.)} \pm 0.30\text{(syst.)}] \times 10^{-7}.

Observation of the isospin-violating decay J/ψ→ϕπ0f0(980)J/ψ\to ϕπ^{0}f_{0}(980)

Using a sample of 1.31 billion J/ψJ/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the decays J/ψ→ϕπ+π−π0J/ψ\to ϕπ^{+}π^{-}π^{0} and J/ψ→ϕπ0π0π0J/ψ\to ϕπ^{0}π^{0}π^{0} are investigated. The isospin violating decay J/ψ→ϕπ0f0(980)J/ψ\to ϕπ^{0} f_{0}(980) with f0(980)→ππf_{0}(980) \to ππ, is observed for the first time. The width of the f0(980)f_{0}(980) obtained from the dipion mass spectrum is found to be much smaller than the world average value. In the π0f0(980)π^{0} f_{0}(980) mass spectrum, there is evidence of f1(1285)f_1(1285) production. By studying the decay J/ψ→ϕη′J/ψ\to ϕη', the branching fractions of η′→π+π−π0η' \to π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} and η′→π0π0π0η' \to π^{0}π^{0}π^{0}, as well as their ratio, are also measured.

Based on 2.93 fb−1^{-1} e+e−e^+e^- collision data taken at center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector, we report searches for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+→ωπ+D^{+}\toωπ^{+} and D0→ωπ0D^{0}\toωπ^{0}. A double tag technique is used to measure the absolute branching fractions B(D+→ωπ+)=(2.79±0.57±0.16)×10−4\mathcal{B}(D^{+}\toωπ^{+})=(2.79\pm0.57\pm0.16)\times 10^{-4} and B(D0→ωπ0)=(1.17±0.34±0.07)×10−4\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\toωπ^{0})=(1.17\pm0.34\pm0.07)\times 10^{-4}, with statistical significances of 5.5σ5.5σ and 4.1σ4.1σ, respectively. We also present measurements of the absolute branching fractions for the related ηπηπ decay modes. We find B(D+→ηπ+)=(3.07±0.22±0.13)×10−3\mathcal{B}(D^{+}\toηπ^{+})=(3.07\pm0.22\pm0.13)\times10^{-3} and B(D0→ηπ0)=(0.65±0.09±0.04)×10−3\mathcal{B}(D^{0}\toηπ^{0})=(0.65\pm0.09\pm0.04)\times10^{-3}, which are consistent with the current world averages. Precision measurement of the D∗0D^{*0} decay branching fractions

Using 482 pb−1^{-1} of data taken at s=4.009\sqrt{s}=4.009 GeV, we measure the branching fractions of the decays of D∗0D^{*0} into D0π0D^0π^0 and D0γD^0γ to be $\BR(D^{*0} \to D^0π^0)=(65.5\pm 0.8\pm 0.5)%$ and $\BR(D^{*0} \to D^0γ)=(34.5\pm 0.8\pm 0.5)%$ respectively, by assuming that the D∗0D^{*0} decays only into these two modes. The ratio of the two branching fractions is $\BR(D^{*0} \to D^0π^0)/\BR(D^{*0} \to D^0γ) =1.90\pm 0.07\pm 0.05$, which is independent of the assumption made above. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. The precision is improved by a factor of three compared to the present world average values.

Probing Charged Higgs Boson Couplings at the FCC-hh Collider

Many of the new physics models predicts a light Higgs boson similar to the Higgs boson of the Standard Model (SM) and also extra scalar bosons. Beyond the search channels for a SM Higgs boson, the future collider experiments will explore additional channels that are specific to extended Higgs sectors. We study the charged Higgs boson production within the framework of two Higgs doublet models (THDM) in the proton-proton collisions at the FCC-hh collider. With an integrated luminosity of 500 fb−1^{-1} at very high energy frontier, we obtain a significant coverage of the parameter space and distinguish the charged Higgs-top-bottom interaction within the THDM or other new physics models with charged Higgs boson mass up to 1 TeV.

Study of e+e−→ωχcJe^+e^-\toωχ_{cJ} at center-of-mass energies from 4.21 to 4.42 GeV

Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at 9 center-of-mass energies from 4.21 to 4.42 GeV, we search for the production of e+e−→ωχcJe^+e^-\to ωχ_{cJ} (JJ=0, 1, 2). The process e+e−→ωχc0e^+e^-\to ωχ_{c0} is observed for the first time, and the Born cross sections at s\sqrt{s}=4.23 and 4.26 GeV are measured to be (55.4±6.0±5.9)(55.4\pm 6.0\pm 5.9) and (23.7±5.3±3.5)(23.7\pm 5.3\pm 3.5) pb, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The ωχc0ωχ_{c0} signals at the other 7 energies and e+e−→ωχc1e^+e^-\to ωχ_{c1} and ωχc2ωχ_{c2} signals are not significant, and the upper limits on the cross sections are determined. By examining the ωχc0ωχ_{c0} cross section as a function of center-of-mass energy, we find that it is inconsistent with the line shape of the Y(4260)Y(4260) observed in e+e−→π+π−J/ψe^+ e^-\toπ^+π^-J/ψ. Assuming the ωχc0ωχ_{c0} signals come from a single resonance, we extract mass and width of the resonance to be (4230±8±6)(4230\pm8\pm6) MeV/c2c^2 and (38±12±2)(38\pm12\pm2) MeV, respectively, and the statistical significance is more than 9σ9σ.

Study of χcJχ_{cJ} decaying into ϕϕ K∗(892)K^*(892) Kˉ\bar{K}

The decays are dominated by the three-body decay χcJ→ϕK∗(892)Kˉχ_{cJ}\to ϕK^*(892)\bar{K}. We measure branching fractions for this reaction via the neutral and charged K∗(892)K^*(892) and find them consistent with each other within the expectation of isospin symmetry. In the KKˉπK\bar{K}π invariant mass distribution a structure near the K∗(892)KˉK^*(892)\bar{K} mass threshold is observed, and the corresponding mass and width are measured to be 1412±4(stat.)±8(sys.)MeV/c21412\pm4(\mathrm{stat.})\pm8(\mathrm{sys.}) \mathrm{MeV}/c^2 and ΓΓ = 84±12(stat.)±40(sys.)MeV84\pm12(\mathrm{stat.})\pm40(\mathrm{sys.}) \mathrm{MeV}, respectively. Study of ψ(3686)→π0hc,hc→γηcψ(3686)\toπ^0 h_c, h_c\toγη_c via ηcη_c exclusive decays

The mass and width of the PP-wave charmonium spin-singlet state hc(1P1)h_c(^1P_1) are determined by simultaneously fitting distributions of the π0π^0 recoil mass for 16 exclusive ηcη_c decay modes. The results, $M(\hc) = 3525.31 \pm 0.11 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.14 {\rm (syst.)}$\,MeV/c2c^2 and $Γ(\hc) = 0.70 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.22$\,MeV, are consistent with and more precise than previous measurements. New measurements of the ηcη_c line-shape parameters in the E1E1 transition hc→γηch_c\toγη_c are made by selecting candidates in the hch_c signal sample and simultaneously fitting the hadronic mass spectra for the 16 ηcη_c decay channels. The resulting ηcη_c mass and width values are M(ηc)=2984.49±1.16±0.52M(η_c) = 2984.49 \pm 1.16 \pm 0.52\,MeV/c2c^2 and Γ(ηc)=36.4±3.2±1.7Γ(η_c) = 36.4 \pm 3.2 \pm 1.7\,MeV.

Combining these products with the values of ∣Vcs(d)∣|V_{cs(d)}| from the SM constraint fit, we extract the hadronic form factors f+K(0)=0.7368±0.0026±0.0036f^K_+(0) = 0.7368\pm0.0026\pm 0.0036 and f+π(0)=0.6372±0.0080±0.0044f^π_+(0) = 0.6372\pm0.0080\pm 0.0044, and their ratio f+π(0)/f+K(0)=0.8649±0.0112±0.0073f_+^π(0)/f_+^{K}(0)=0.8649\pm 0.0112\pm 0.0073. These form factors and their ratio are used to test unquenched Lattice QCD calculations of the form factors and a light cone sum rule (LCSR) calculation of their ratio. The measured value of f+K(π)(0)∣Vcs(d)∣f_+^{K(π)}(0) |V_{cs(d)}| and the lattice QCD value for f+K(π)(0)f^{K(π)}_+(0) are used to extract values of the CKM matrix elements of ∣Vcs∣=0.9601±0.0033±0.0047±0.0239|V_{cs}|=0.9601 \pm 0.0033 \pm 0.0047 \pm 0.0239 and ∣Vcd∣=0.2155±0.0027±0.0014±0.0094|V_{cd}|=0.2155 \pm 0.0027 \pm 0.0014 \pm 0.0094, where the third errors are due to the uncertainties in lattice QCD calculations of the form factors. Using the LCSR value for f+π(0)/f+K(0)f_+^π(0)/f_+^K(0), we determine the ratio ∣Vcd∣/∣Vcs∣=0.238±0.004±0.002±0.011|V_{cd}|/|V_{cs}|=0.238\pm 0.004\pm 0.002\pm 0.011, where the third error is from the uncertainty in the LCSR normalization. In addition, we measure form factor parameters for three different theoretical models that describe the weak hadronic charged currents for these two semileptonic decays. All of these measurements are the most precise to date.

We perform an analysis of the D+→KS0π+π0D^+ \to K^0_S π^+ π^0 Dalitz plot using a data set of 2.92 fb−1^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- collisions at the ψ(3770)ψ(3770) mass accumulated by the BESIII Experiment, in which 166694 candidate events are selected with a background of 15.1%. The Dalitz plot is found to be well-represented by a combination of six quasi-two-body decay channels (KS0ρ+K^0_Sρ^+, KS0ρ(1450)+K^0_Sρ(1450)^+, K‾∗0π+\overline{K}^{*0}π^+, K‾0(1430)0π+\overline{K}_0(1430)^0π^+, K‾(1680)0π+\overline{K}(1680)^0π^+, κ‾0π+\overlineκ^0π^+) plus a small non-resonant component. Measurement of the D→K−π+D\to K^-π^+ strong phase difference in ψ(3770)→D0D‾0ψ(3770)\to D^0\overline{D}{}^0

We study D0D‾0D^0\overline{D}{}^0 pairs produced in e+e−e^+e^- collisions at s=3.773\sqrt{s}=3.773 GeV using a data sample of 2.92 fb−1^{-1} collected with the BESIII detector. We measure the asymmetry AKπCP\mathcal{A}^{CP}_{Kπ} of the branching fractions of D→K−π+D \to K^-π^+ in CPCP-odd and CPCP-even eigenstates to be (12.7±1.3±0.7)×10−2(12.7\pm1.3\pm0.7)\times10^{-2}. AKπCP\mathcal{A}^{CP}_{Kπ} can be used to extract the strong phase difference δKπδ_{Kπ} between the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed process D‾0→K−π+\overline{D}{}^{0}\to K^-π^+ and the Cabibbo-favored process D0→K−π+D^0\to K^- π^+. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third uncertainty arises from the external parameters. Measurement of the branching fraction for ψ(3686)→ωK+K−ψ(3686)\toωK^+ K^-

With 1.06×1081.06\times 10^8 ψ(3686)ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, the branching fraction of ψ(3686)→ωK+K−ψ(3686) \to ωK^+ K^- is measured to be (1.54±0.04±0.11)×10−4(1.54 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.11) \times 10^{-4}. This is the most precise result to date, due to the largest ψ(3686)ψ(3686) sample, improved signal reconstruction efficiency, good simulation of the detector performance, and a more accurate knowledge of the continuum contribution. Using the branching fraction of J/ψ→ωK+K−J/ψ\to ωK^+ K^-, the ratio B(ψ(3868)→K+K−)/B(J/ψ→K+K−)\mathcal{B}(ψ(3868) \to K^+K^-) / \mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to K^+K^-) is determined to be (18.4±3.7) %(18.4 \pm 3.7)\,\%. This constitutes a significantly improved test of the 12 %12\,\% rule, with the uncertainty now dominated by the J/ψJ/ψ branching fraction.

New IceCube data and color octet neutrino interpretation of the PeV energy events

IceCube collaboration has published two papers on ultrahigh energy neutrinos observation, recently. They have used the data collected in two years in their first publication, which reveals observation of two PeV energy neutrino events. The second publication of the collaboration including more data has also confirmed main features of the former paper. In literature, various interpretations of the IceCube data have been proposed. In this study, it is shown that PeV energy neutrino events observed by the IceCube collaboration can be interpreted as resonance production of color octet neutrinos with masses in 500−800500-800 GeV range.

Precision measurements of B(D+→μ+νμ)B(D^+ \rightarrow μ^+ ν_μ), the pseudoscalar decay constant fD+f_{D^+}, and the quark mixing matrix element ∣Vcd∣|V_{\rm cd}|

Search for anomalous WWγWWγ and WWZWWZ couplings with polarized ee-beam at the LHeC

The difference of maximum and minimum bounds on the anomalous couplings, (δΔκγδΔκ_γ, δλγδλ_γ) and (δΔκZδΔκ_{Z}, δλZδλ_{Z}) are obtained as (0.9900.990, 0.1220.122) and (0.3620.362, 0.0120.012) without electron beam polarization at the beam energy of Ee=140E_{e}=140 GeV for an integrated luminosity of Lint=100L_{int}=100 fb−1^{-1}, respectively. With the possibility of e−e-beam polarization, we obtain more improved results as (0.9750.975, 0.1180.118) and (0.2850.285, 0.0090.009) for (δΔκγ,δλγδΔκ_γ, δλ_γ) and (δΔκZ,δλZδΔκ_{Z}, δλ_{Z}), respectively. The results are found to be comparable with the current experimental limits obtained from two-parameter analysis at the lepton and hadron colliders. It is found that the limits on the anomalous couplings (ΔκZΔκ_{Z}, λZλ_{Z}) through the process ep→νeqZXep\toν_{e}qZX at the LHeC can further improve the current experimental limits.

The cross section of e+e−→ψ(3770)→ppˉe^+e^-\rightarrowψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}, σ(e+e−→ψ(3770)→ppˉ)σ(e^+e^-\rightarrowψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}), is found to have two solutions, determined to be (0.059±0.032±0.0120.059\pm0.032\pm0.012) pb with the phase angle ϕ=(255.8±37.9±4.8)∘ϕ= (255.8\pm37.9\pm4.8)^\circ (<<0.11 pb at the 90% confidence level), or σ(e+e−→ψ(3770)→ppˉ)=(2.57±0.12±0.12σ(e^+e^-\rightarrowψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}) = (2.57\pm0.12\pm0.12) pb with ϕ=(266.9±6.1±0.9)∘ϕ= (266.9\pm6.1\pm0.9)^\circ both of which agree with a destructive interference. Using the obtained cross section of ψ(3770)→ppˉψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}, the cross section of ppˉ→ψ(3770)p\bar{p}\rightarrow ψ(3770), which is useful information for the future PANDA experiment, is estimated to be either (9.8±5.79.8\pm5.7) nb (<17.2<17.2 nb at 90% C.L.) or (425.6±42.9)(425.6\pm42.9) nb.

Study of J/psi->eta phi pi+pi- at BESIII

Based on a sample of 2.25×108J/ψ2.25\times 10^{8} J/ψ events taken with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we present the results of a study of the decay J/ψ→ηϕπ+π−J/ψ\to ηϕπ^{+}π^{-}. The Y(2175)Y(2175) resonance is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of ϕf0(980)ϕf_{0}(980) with a statistical significance of greater than 10σ10σ. The corresponding mass and width are determined to be M=2200±6(stat.)±5(syst.)MeV/c2M=2200\pm 6 \mathrm{(stat.)} \pm 5\mathrm{(syst.)} \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2} and Γ=104±15(stat.)±15(syst.)Γ=104\pm 15\mathrm{(stat.)}\pm 15\mathrm{(syst.)} MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is measured to be B(J/ψ→ηY(2175)\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toηY(2175), Y(2175)→ϕf0(980)Y(2175)\to ϕf_{0}(980), f0(980)→π+π−)=(1.20±0.14(stat.)±0.37(syst.))×10−4f_{0}(980)\to π^{+}π^{-})= (1.20\pm 0.14\mathrm{(stat.)}\pm 0.37 \mathrm{(syst.)})\times 10^{-4}. The results are consistent within errors with those of previous experiments. A Large Hadron Electron Collider at CERN

This document provides a brief overview of the recently published report on the design of the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC), which comprises its physics programme, accelerator physics, technology and main detector concepts. The LHeC exploits and develops challenging, though principally existing, accelerator and detector technologies. This summary is complemented by brief illustrations of some of the highlights of the physics programme, which relies on a vastly extended kinematic range, luminosity and unprecedented precision in deep inelastic scattering. Illustrations are provided regarding high precision QCD, new physics (Higgs, SUSY) and electron-ion physics. The LHeC is designed to run synchronously with the LHC in the twenties and to achieve an integrated luminosity of O(100) fb−1^{-1}. It will become the cleanest high resolution microscope of mankind and will substantially extend as well as complement the investigation of the physics of the TeV energy scale, which has been enabled by the LHC.

Evidence for ηc→γγη_{c} \rightarrow γγ and Measurement of J/ψ→3γJ/ψ\rightarrow 3γ

The decay of J/ψJ/ψ to three photons is studied using ψ(3686)→π+π−J/ψψ(3686)\toπ^+π^-J/ψ in a sample of 1.0641×1081.0641\times10^8 ψ(3686)ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector. Evidence of the direct decay of ηcη_c to two photons, ηc→γγη_c\toγγ, is reported, and the product branching fraction is determined to be B(J/ψ→γηc,ηc→γγ)=(4.5±1.2±0.6)×10−6\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toγη_c,η_c\to γγ)=(4.5\pm1.2\pm0.6)\times10^{-6}, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The branching fraction for J/ψ→3γJ/ψ\to3γ is measured to be (11.3±1.8±2.0)×10−6(11.3\pm1.8\pm2.0)\times 10^{-6} with improved precision.

Evidence for η_{c}(2S) in ψ(3686) \to γK_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}π^{+}π^{-}

We search for the M1 radiative transition ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S) by reconstructing the exclusive η_{c}(2S) \to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}π^{+}π^{-} decay using 1.06 \times 10^8 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector. The signal is observed with a statistical significance of greater than 4 standard deviations. The measured mass of the η_{c}(2S) is 3646.9 \pm 1.6(stat) \pm 3.6(syst) MeV/c^2, and the width is 9.9 \pm 4.8(stat) \pm 2.9(syst) MeV/c^2. The product branching fraction is measured to be B(ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)) \times B(η_{c}(2S) \to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}π^{+}π^{-}) = (7.03 \pm 2.10(stat) \pm 0.70(syst)) \times 10^{-6}. Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure in e+e- to pi+pi-J/psi at \sqrt{s}=4.26 GeV

We study the process e+e- to pi+pi-J/psi at a center-of-mass energy of 4.260 GeV using a 525 pb^{-1} data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross section is measured to be (62.9\pm 1.9\pm 3.7) pb, consistent with the production of the Y(4260). We observe a structure at around 3.9 GeV/c^2 in the π^\pm J/psi mass spectrum, which we refer to as the Z_c(3900). If interpreted as a new particle, it is unusual in that it carries an electric charge and couples to charmonium. A fit to the π^\pm J/psi invariant mass spectrum, neglecting interference, results in a mass of (3899.0\pm 3.6\pm 4.9) MeV/c^2 and a width of (46\pm 10\pm 20) MeV. Its production ratio is measured to be R=\frac{σ(e+e- to π^\pm Z_c(3900)^\mp to pi+pi-J/psi))} {σ(e+e- to pi+pi-J/psi)}=(21.5\pm 3.3\pm 7.5)%. In all measurements the first errors are statistical and the second are systematic.

Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure Z_c(4020) and search for the Z_c(3900) in e+e- to pi+pi-h_c

We study e+e- --> pi+pi-h_c at center-of-mass energies from 3.90 GeV to 4.42 GeV using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross sections are measured at 13 energies, and are found to be of the same order of magnitude as those of e+e- --> pi+pi-J/psi but with a different line shape. In the π^\pm h_c mass spectrum, a distinct structure, referred to as Z_c(4020), is observed at 4.02 GeV/c^2. The Z_c(4020) carries an electric charge and couples to charmonium. A fit to the π^\pm h_c invariant mass spectrum, neglecting possible interferences, results in a mass of (4022.9\pm 0.8\pm 2.7) MeV/c^2 and a width of (7.9\pm 2.7\pm 2.6) MeV for the Z_c(4020), where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. No significant Z_c(3900) signal is observed, and upper limits on the Z_c(3900) production cross sections in π^\pm h_c at center-of-mass energies of 4.23 and 4.26 GeV are set.

Observation of a structure at 1.84 GeV/c2^2 in the 3(π+π−)3(π^+π^-) mass spectrum in J/ψ→γ3(π+π−)J/ψ\rightarrow γ3(π^+π^-) decays

With a sample of 225.3 million J/ψJ/ψ events taken with the BESIII detector, the decay J/ψ→γ3(π+π−)J/ψ\rightarrow γ3(π^+π^-) is analyzed. A structure at 1.84 GeV/c2^2 is observed in the 3(π+π−)3(π^+π^-) invariant mass spectrum with a statistical significance of 7.6σσ . The mass and width are measured to be M=1842.2±4.2−2.6+7.1M=1842.2\pm 4.2^{+7.1}_{-2.6} MeV/c2^2 and Γ=83±14±11Γ=83\pm 14 \pm 11 MeV. The product branching fraction is determined to be B(J/ψ→γX(1840))×B(X(1840)→3(π+π−))=(2.44±0.36−0.74+0.60)×10−5B(J/ψ\rightarrowγX(1840))\times B(X(1840)\rightarrow 3(π^+π^-))=(2.44\pm0.36^{+0.60}_{-0.74})\times 10^{-5}. No η′η^\prime signals are observed in the 3(π+π−)3(π^+π^-) invariant mass spectrum, and the upper limit of the branching fraction for the decay η′→3(π+π−)η^\prime\rightarrow 3(π^+π^-) is set to be 3.1×10−53.1\times10^{-5} at a 90% confidence level.

On the Relation of the LHeC and the LHC

The present note relies on the recently published conceptual design report of the LHeC and extends the first contribution to the European strategy debate in emphasising the role of the LHeC to complement and complete the high luminosity LHC programme. The brief discussion therefore focuses on the importance of high precision PDF and αsα_s determinations for the physics beyond the Standard Model (GUTs, SUSY, Higgs). Emphasis is also given to the importance of high parton density phenomena in nuclei and their relevance to the heavy ion physics programme at the LHC.

A Large Hadron Electron Collider at CERN: Report on the Physics and Design Concepts for Machine and Detector

The physics programme and the design are described of a new collider for particle and nuclear physics, the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC), in which a newly built electron beam of 60 GeV, up to possibly 140 GeV, energy collides with the intense hadron beams of the LHC. Compared to HERA, the kinematic range covered is extended by a factor of twenty in the negative four-momentum squared, Q2Q^2, and in the inverse Bjorken xx, while with the design luminosity of 103310^{33} cm−2^{-2}s−1^{-1} the LHeC is projected to exceed the integrated HERA luminosity by two orders of magnitude. The physics programme is devoted to an exploration of the energy frontier, complementing the LHC and its discovery potential for physics beyond the Standard Model with high precision deep inelastic scattering measurements. These are designed to investigate a variety of fundamental questions in strong and electroweak interactions. The physics programme also includes electron-deuteron and electron-ion scattering in a (Q2,1/x)(Q^2, 1/x) range extended by four orders of magnitude as compared to previous lepton-nucleus DIS experiments for novel investigations of neutron's and nuclear structure, the initial conditions of Quark-Gluon Plasma formation and further quantum chromodynamic phenomena. The LHeC may be realised either as a ring-ring or as a linac-ring collider. Optics and beam dynamics studies are presented for both versions, along with technical design considerations on the interaction region, magnets and further components, together with a design study for a high acceptance detector. Civil engineering and installation studies are presented for the accelerator and the detector. The LHeC can be built within a decade and thus be operated while the LHC runs in its high-luminosity phase. It thus represents a major opportunity for progress in particle physics exploiting the investment made in the LHC.

Using a sample of (225.2±2.8)×106(225.2\pm 2.8)\times 10^6 J/ψJ/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present results of a study of J/ψ→γΛΛˉJ/ψ\rightarrow γΛ\barΛ and report the first observation of the isospin violating decay J/ψ→ΛΣˉ0+c.c.J/ψ\rightarrowΛ\barΣ^{0}+c.c., in which Σˉ0\barΣ^{0} decays to γΛˉγ\barΛ. The measured branching fractions are B(J/ψ→ΛˉΣ0\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrow\barΛΣ^{0}) = (1.46±0.11±0.12)×10−5(1.46\pm0.11\pm0.12) \times10^{-5} and B(J/ψ→ΛΣ0ˉ\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowΛ\bar{Σ^{0}}) = (1.37±0.12±0.11)×10−5(1.37\pm0.12\pm0.11) \times10^{-5}. We search for Λ(1520)→γΛΛ(1520) \rightarrow γΛ decay, and find no evident signal, and an upper limit for the product branching fraction B(J/ψ→ΛΛˉ(1520)+c.c.)×B(Λ(1520)→γΛ)<4.1×10−6\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowΛ\barΛ(1520)+c.c.)\times \mathcal{B}(Λ(1520)\rightarrowγΛ)<4.1 \times10^{-6} is set at the 90% confidence level. We also report the observation of ηc→ΛΛˉη_{c}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ in J/ψ→γηcJ/ψ\rightarrow γη_{c}, ηc→ΛΛˉη_{c}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ and measure the branching fraction B(ηc→ΛΛˉ)=(1.16±0.12(stat)±0.19(syst)±0.28(PDG))×10−3\mathcal{B}(η_{c}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ) =(1.16\pm0.12 (stat)\pm0.19(syst)\pm0.28(PDG))\times10^{-3}.

Forward-Backward Asymmetries of Fourth Family Fermions Through the Z' Models at Linear Colliders

We investigate the forward-backward asymmetries in the pair production of fourth family fermions through the new Z' interactions in the e+e- collisions. The Z' boson having family universal couplings can contribute to the pair production of fourth family fermions via the s-channel exchange. The linear colliders will provide a clean environment for the physics of Z' boson to measure its couplings precisely. The effects of the Z' boson to the asymmetries are shown to be important in some parameter regions for different Z' models. Among these parameters, the invariant mass distribution m_FFbar will be an important measurement to constrain the Z' models. Providing the fourth family fermion exist in an accesssible mass range, a chi^2 analysis can also be used to probe the Z' models at linear collider energies.

Measurement of χcJχ_{cJ} decaying into pnˉπ−p\bar{n}π^{-} and pnˉπ−π0p\bar{n}π^{-}π^{0}

Using a data sample of 1.06×1081.06 \times 10^{8} $\psip$ events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009, the branching fractions of χcJ→pnˉπ−χ_{cJ}\to p\bar{n}π^{-} and χcJ→pnˉπ−π0χ_{cJ}\to p\bar{n}π^{-}π^{0} (JJ=0,1,2) are measured{Throughout the text, inclusion of charge conjugate modes is implied if not stated otherwise.}. The results for χc0→pnˉπ−χ_{c0}\to p\bar{n}π^{-} and χc2→pnˉπ−χ_{c2}\to p\bar{n}π^{-} are consistent with, but much more precise than those of previous measurements. The decays of χc1→pnˉπ−χ_{c1}\to p\bar{n}π^{-} and χcJ→pnˉπ−π0χ_{cJ}\to p\bar{n}π^{-}π^{0} are observed for the first time.

Observation of e+e−→ηJ/ψe^{+}e^{-} \to ηJ/ψ at center-of-mass energy sqrts=4.009sqrt{s}=4.009 GeV

Using a 478 pb−1^{-1} data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring at a center-of-mass energy of s=4.009\sqrt{s}=4.009 GeV, the production of e+e−→ηJψe^{+}e^{-}\to ηJψ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of greater than 10σ10σ. The Born cross section is measured to be (32.1±2.8±1.3)(32.1\pm 2.8 \pm 1.3) pb, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. Assuming the ηJψηJψ signal is from a hadronic transition of the ψ(4040)ψ(4040), the fractional transition rate is determined to be B(ψ(4040)→ηJψ)=(5.2±0.5±0.2±0.5)×10−3{\cal B}(ψ(4040)\to ηJψ)=(5.2\pm 0.5\pm 0.2\pm 0.5)\times 10^{-3}, where the first, second, and third errors are statistical, systematic, and the uncertainty from the ψ(4040)ψ(4040) resonant parameters, respectively. The production of e+e−→π0Jψe^{+}e^{-} \to π^0 Jψ is searched for, but no significant signal is observed, and B(ψ(4040)→π0Jψ)<2.8×10−4{\cal B}(ψ(4040)\to π^0 Jψ) < 2.8 \times 10^{-4} is obtained at the 90% confidence level.

The branching fractions are measured to be (2.11±0.28stat.±0.18syst.±0.50PDG)×10−3(2.11\pm0.28_{\rm stat.}\pm0.18_{\rm syst.}\pm0.50_{\rm PDG})\times10^{-3} and (0.89±0.16stat.±0.08syst.±0.21PDG)×10−3(0.89\pm0.16_{\rm stat.}\pm0.08_{\rm syst.}\pm0.21_{\rm PDG})\times10^{-3} for ηc→Σ+Σˉ−η_{c} \to Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-} and Ξ−Ξˉ+Ξ^{-}\barΞ^{+}, respectively. Decays of the chi_{cJ} states (J=0,\ 1,\ 2) to ΛΛbar\ pi^{+} π^{-}, including processes with intermediate Σ(1385), are studied through the E1 transition psi'-->γchi_{cJ} using 106 million psi' events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. This is the first observation of chi_{cJ} decays to the final state ΛΛbar π^{+}π^{-}. The branching ratio of the intermediate process chi_{cJ}-->Σ(1385)^{+/-} \barΣ(1385)^{-/+} is also measured for the first time, and the results agree with the theoretical predictions based on the color-octet effect.

Precision measurements of branching fractions for ψ′→π0Jψ ψ'\toπ^0 Jψ and ηJψηJψ

We present a precision study of the $\psip\toπ^0 J/ψ$ and ηJ/ψηJ/ψ decay modes. The measurements are obtained using 106×106106\times10^6 ψ′ψ' events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII $\ee$ collider operating at a center-of-mass energy corresponding to the $\psip$ mass. We obtain $\mathcal{B}(\psip\toπ^0 J/ψ)=(1.26\pm0.02{\rm (stat.)}\pm0.03{\rm (syst.)})\times 10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(\psip\toηJ/ψ)=(33.75\pm0.17{\rm (stat.)}\pm0.86{\rm (syst.)})\times 10^{-3}$. The branching fraction ratio $R=\frac{\mathcal{B}(\psip\toπ^0 J/ψ)}{\mathcal{B}(\psip\toηJ/ψ)}$ is determined to be (3.74±0.06(stat.)±0.04(syst.))×10−2(3.74\pm0.06 {\rm(stat.)}\pm0.04 {\rm(syst.)})\times 10^{-2}. The precision of these measurements of $\mathcal{B}(\psip\toπ^{0} J/ψ)$ and RR represent a significant improvement over previously published values.

Search for hadronic transition χcJ→ηcπ+π−χ_{cJ}\toη_{c}π^{+}π^{-} and observation of χcJ→KKˉπππχ_{cJ}\to K\bar{K}πππ

Hadronic transitions of χcJ→ηcπ+π−χ_{cJ}\to η_{c}π^{+}π^{-} (J=0, 1, 2) are searched for using a sample of 1.06×1081.06\times 10^{8} ψ(3686)ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The $\etac$ is reconstructed with KS0K+π−+c.c.K_{S}^{0}K^{+}π^{-}+c.c. and K+K−π0K^{+}K^{-}π^{0} final states. No signals are observed in any of the three χcJχ_{cJ} states in either $\etac$ decay mode. At the 90% confidence level, the upper limits are determined to be $\BR(χ_{c0}\to η_{c}π^{+}π^{-})<0.07%$, $\BR(χ_{c1}\to η_{c}π^{+}π^{-})<0.32%$, and $\BR(χ_{c2}\to η_{c}π^{+}π^{-})<0.54%$. The upper limit of $\BR(χ_{c1}\to η_{c}π^{+}π^{-}$ is lower than the existing theoretical prediction by almost an order of magnitude. The branching fractions of χcJ→KS0K+π−π+π−+c.c.χ_{cJ}\to K_{S}^{0}K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}+c.c., K+K−π+π−π0K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}, ωK+K−ωK^{+}K^{-} and ϕπ+π−π0ϕπ^{+}π^{-}π^{0} (J=0, 1, 2) are measured for the first time.

Single Production of Fourth Family Sneutrino via RPV Couplings at Linear Colliders

The single production of fourth family sneutrino ν~4\tildeν_{4} via R-parity violating interactions in electron-positron collisions has been investigated. We study the decays of ν~4\tildeν_{4} into different flavor dilepton e±μ∓e^{\pm}μ^{\mp} via R-parity violation. It is shown that R-parity violating couplings (λ411,λ412)(λ_{411},λ_{412}) down to 0.001 will be reachable at future linear colliders which would provide better accuracy comparing to the indirect measurements as complementary to the LHC results.

Study of the near-threshold ωϕωϕ mass enhancement in doubly OZI suppressed J/ψ→γωϕJ/ψ\to γωϕ decays

A 2.25×108\times10^8 $\jpsi$ event sample accumulated with the BESIII detector is used to study the doubly OZI suppressed decay modes $\jpsi\toγ\of$, $ω\to\ppp$, $ϕ\to\kk$. A strong deviation (>> 30σσ) from three-body $\jpsi\toγωϕ$ phase space is observed near the ωϕωϕ mass threshold that is consistent with a previous observation reported by the BESII experiment. A partial wave analysis with a tensor covariant amplitude that assumes that the enhancement is due to the presence of a resonance, the X(1810), is performed, and confirms that the spin-parity of the X(1810) is 0++0^{++}. The mass and width of the X(1810) are determined to be M=1795±7M=1795\pm7(stat)−5+13^{+13}_{-5}(syst)±\pm19(mod) MeV/c2c^2 and Γ=95±10Γ=95\pm10(stat)−34+21^{+21}_{-34}(syst)±\pm75(mod) MeV/c2c^2, respectively, and the product branching fraction is measured to be ${\cal B}(\jpsi\toγX(1810))\times{\cal B}(X(1810)\to\of)=(2.00\pm0.08$(stat)−1.00+0.45^{+0.45}_{-1.00}(syst)±\pm1.30(mod))×10−4\times10^{-4}. %where the first error is the statistical error and the second the systematical error. These results are consistent within errors with those of the BESII experiment.

Anomalous single production of fourth family up type quark associated with neutral gauge bosons at the LHC

From the present limits on the masses and mixings of fourth family quarks, they are expected to have mass larger than the top quark and allow a large range of mixing of the third family. They could also have different dynamics than the quarks of three families of the Standard Model. The single production of the fourth family up type quark t' has been studied via anomalous production process pp-> t'VX (where V=g,Z,γ) at the LHC with the center of mass energy of 7 and 14 TeV. The signatures of such process are discussed within both the SM decay modes and anomalous decay modes of t' quarks. The sensitivity to anomalous coupling kappa/Lambda=0.004 TeV^(-1) can be reached at sqrt(s)=14 TeV and L_(int)=100 pb^(-1).

We study the decay mode of ~l_4 into the fourth family neutrino nu_4 and W boson. The signal will be a like-sign dimuon and dijet if the fourth family neutrino has Majorana nature. We discuss the constraints on the R-parity violating couplings lambda and lambda' of the fourth family charged slepton at the LHC with the center of mass energies of 7, 10 and 14 TeV.

Search for Top Quark FCNC Couplings in Z' Models at the LHC and CLIC

The top quark is the heaviest particle to date discovered, with a mass close to the electroweak symmetry breaking scale. It is expected that the top quark would be sensitive to the new physics at the TeV scale. One of the most important aspects of the top quark physics can be the investigation of the possible anomalous couplings. Here, we study the top quark flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) couplings via the extra gauge boson Z' at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) energies. We calculate the total cross sections for the signal and the corresponding Standard Model (SM) background processes. For an FCNC mixing parameter x=0.2 and the sequential Z' mass of 1 TeV, we find the single top quark FCNC production cross sections 0.38(1.76) fb at the LHC with sqrt{s_{pp}}=7(14) TeV, respectively. For the resonance production of sequential Z' boson and decays to single top quark at the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) energies, including the initial state radiation and beamstrahlung effects, we find the cross section 27.96(0.91) fb at sqrt{s_{e^{+}e^{-}}}=1(3) TeV, respectively. We make the analysis to investigate the parameter space (mixing-mass) through various Z' models. It is shown that the results benefit from the flavor tagging.

Anomalous resonant production of the fourth family up type quarks at the LHC

Considering the present limits on the masses of fourth family quarks from the Tevatron experiments, the fourth family quarks are expected to have mass larger than the top quark. Due to their expected large mass they could have different dynamics than the quarks of three families of the Standard Model. The resonant production of the fourth family up type quark t' has been studied via anomalous production subprocess gq_i-->t' (where q_i=u,c) at the LHC with the center of mass energy 10 TeV and 14 TeV. The signatures of such process are discussed within the SM decay modes. The sensitivity to anomalous coupling κ/Λ=0.1 TeV^(-1) can be reached at \sqrt{s}=10 TeV and L_int=100 pb^(-1).

Single production of excited spin-3/2 neutrinos at linear colliders

We study the potential of future high energy e+e- colliders to probe excited neutrino signals in different channels coming from the single production process via gauge interactions. We calculate the production cross section, decay widths and branching ratios of excited spin-3/2 neutrinos according to their effective currents and we compare them with that of the spin-1/2 ones. The signals and corresponding backgrounds are examined in detail to get accessible limits on the masses and couplings of excited spin-3/2 neutrinos.

Resonant production of diquarks at high energy pp, ep and e+e- colliders

Resonant productions of the first generation scalar and vector diquarks at high energy hadron-hadron (pp), lepton-hadron (ep) and lepton-lepton (e+e-) colliders are investigated. Taking into account the hadronic component of the photon, diquarks can be produced resonantly in the lepton-hadron and lepton-lepton collisions. Production rates, decay widths and signatures of diquarks are discussed using the general, SU(3)_{C} x SU(2)_{W} x U(1)_{Y} invariant, effective Lagrangian. The corresponding dijet backgrounds are examined in the interested invariant mass regions. The attainable mass limits and couplings are obtained for the diquarks that can be produced in hadron collisions and in resolved photon processes. It is shown that hadron collider with center of mass energy sqrt(s)=14 TeV will be able to discover scalar and vector diquarks with masses up to m_{DQ}=9 TeV for quark-diquark-quark coupling alpha_{DQ}=0.1. Relatively, lighter diquarks can be probed at ep and e+e- collisions in more clear environment.

Production of excited electrons at TESLA and CLIC based e gamma colliders

We analyze the potential of TESLA and CLIC based electron-photon colliders to search for excited spin-1/2 electrons. The production of excited electrons in the resonance channel through the electron-photon collision and their subsequent decays to leptons and electroweak gauge bosons are investigated. We study in detail the three signal channels of excited electrons and the corresponding backgrounds through the reactions e gamma --> e gamma, e gamma --> eZ and e gamma --> nu W. Excited electrons with masses up to about 90% of the available collider energy can be probed down to the coupling f=f'=0.05(0.1) at TESLA(CLIC) based e gamma colliders.
