Quantitative Hardy--Littlewood maximal inequalities and Wiener--Stein theorem on p.c.f. fractals

Let $K\subset \mathbb{R}^d$ be a post-critically finite (p.c.f.) self-similar set with Hausdorff dimension $s$, and $μ$ be a self-similar probability measure supported on $K$. Let $H^α_μ$, $0<α\le s$, be the Hausdorff content on $K$, and $M_{\mathcal{D}}^μ$ be the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator defined on $K$ associated with its basic cubes $\mathcal{D}$. In this paper, we establish quantitative strong type and weak type Hardy--Littlewood maximal inequalities on fractal set $K$ with respect to $H^α_μ$ for all range $0<α\le s$. As applications, the Lebesgue differentiation theorem on $K$ is proved. Moreover, via the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator $M_{\mathcal{D}}^μ$, we characterize the Lebesgue--Choquet space $L^p(K,H^α_μ)$ and the Zygmund space $L\log L(K,μ)$. To be exact, given $α/s< p\le \infty$, we discover that \[ \text{$f\in L^p(K,H^α_μ)$ if and only if $M_{\mathcal{D}}^μf\in L^p(K,H^α_μ)$}\] and, for $f\in L^1(K,μ)$ with $K$ satisfying the strong separation condition, \[\text{$M_{\mathcal{D}}^μf\in L^1(K,μ)$ if and only if $f\in L\log L(K,μ)$}.\] That is, Wiener's $L\log L$ inequality and its converse inequality due to Stein in 1969 are extended to fractal set $K$ with respect to $μ$.

Model Pruning Based on Quantified Similarity of Feature Maps

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) has been applied in numerous Internet of Things (IoT) devices for multifarious downstream tasks. However, with the increasing amount of data on edge devices, CNNs can hardly complete some tasks in time with limited computing and storage resources. Recently, filter pruning has been regarded as an effective technique to compress and accelerate CNNs, but existing methods rarely prune CNNs from the perspective of compressing high-dimensional tensors. In this paper, we propose a novel theory to find redundant information in three-dimensional tensors, namely Quantified Similarity between Feature Maps (QSFM), and utilize this theory to guide the filter pruning procedure. We perform QSFM on datasets (CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100 and ILSVRC-12) and edge devices, demonstrate that the proposed method can find the redundant information in the neural networks effectively with comparable compression and tolerable drop of accuracy. Without any fine-tuning operation, QSFM can compress ResNet-56 on CIFAR-10 significantly (48.7% FLOPs and 57.9% parameters are reduced) with only a loss of 0.54% in the top-1 accuracy. For the practical application of edge devices, QSFM can accelerate MobileNet-V2 inference speed by 1.53 times with only a loss of 1.23% in the ILSVRC-12 top-1 accuracy.

Real-Variable Theory of Hardy Spaces Associated with Generalized Herz Spaces of Rafeiro and Samko

This book is devoted to exploring properties of generalized Herz spaces and establishing a complete real-variable theory of Hardy spaces associated with local and global generalized Herz spaces via a totally fresh perspective which means that the authors view these generalized Herz spaces as special cases of ball quasi-Banach function spaces. To be precise, in this book, the authors first study some basic properties of generalized Herz spaces and obtain boundedness and compactness characterizations of commutators on them. Then the authors introduce the associated Herz-Hardy spaces, local Herz-Hardy spaces, and weak Herz-Hardy spaces, and develop a complete real-variable theory of these Herz-Hardy spaces, including their various maximal function, atomic, finite atomic, molecular as well as various Littlewood-Paley function characterizations. As applications, the authors establish the boundedness of some important operators arising from harmonic analysis on these Herz-Hardy spaces. Finally, the inhomogeneous Herz-Hardy spaces and their complete real-variable theory are also investigated. Due to the deficiency of the associate space of the global Herz space, the known real-variable characterizations about Hardy-type spaces associated with ball quasi-Banach function spaces are not applicable to Hardy spaces associated with global generalized Herz spaces which need an improved generalization of the existing one, done by the authors also in this book and having more additional anticipating applications. The authors should also point out that, with the fresh perspective and the improved conclusions on the real-variable theory of Hardy spaces associated with ball quasi-Banach function spaces, the exponents in all the obtained results of this book are sharp. Moreover, all of these results in this book are new and have never been published before.

Signal-to-Noise Ratio of Microwave Photonic Filter With an Interferometric Structure Based on an Incoherent Broadband Optical Source

A comprehensive investigation of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the microwave photonic filter (MPF) with an interferometric structure based on an incoherent broadband optical source (IBOS) is presented from the time and frequency domains, respectively. The interferometric structure and the IBOS in the MPF result in a beneficial single-bandpass radiofrequency (RF) response. However, the IBOS adds a relatively large noise to the filtered RF signal. Therefore, the analysis of the SNR is of great importance for the design of this kind of MPFs. Theoretical analysis shows that the SNR is a function of the center frequency of the passband, the modulation index, the chromatic dispersion, and the shape of the IBOS. An experiment is performed to verify the theory, and experimental results agree well with the theoretical calculation.

Study on the power scaling and mode instability property in an all-fiber narrow-linewidth tapered fiber amplifier

We develop a high-power narrow-linewidth fiber amplifier based on a tapered Yb-doped fiber. In the experiment, the narrow end of the tapered fiber is used as the input port of both pump source and signal light to form a robust all-fiber configuration. The stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is effectively suppressed owing to its gradually increased mode area as well as continuously changed Brillouin frequency shift dependent on the core diameter. As a result, an output power of 260 W without SBS and mode instability (MI) is obtained, with a slope efficiency of 71.3 % and a narrow linewidth of ~2GHz. However, the MI rather than SBS is observed when output power reaches 260 W. The features of MI are experimentally studied in detail. It is pointed out that, the MI seems the primary and durative limitation factor of the tapered fiber amplifier for high-power narrow-linewidth output, although it has advantage to reduce other nonlinear effect. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first detailed experimental study on MI in a tapered fiber. At last, some worthwhile discussion about the optimization of the tapered fiber and the whole system for both SBS and MI suppression is conducted based on the present and previous results.

Generality of the concatenated five-qubit code

In this work, a quantum error correction (QEC) procedure with the concatenated five-qubit code is used to construct a near-perfect effective qubit channel (with a error below $10^{-5}$) from arbitrary noise channels. The exact performance of the QEC is characterized by a Choi matrix, which can be obtained via a simple and explicit protocol. In a noise model with five free parameters, our numerical results indicate that the concatenated five-qubit code is general: To construct a near-perfect effective channel from the noise channels, the necessary size of the concatenated five-qubit code depends only on the entanglement fidelity of the initial noise channels.

A protocol to estimate the average fidelity of the bipartite system

In present work, we shall develope a protocol to estimate the average fidelity for the bipartite system. We show that the average fidelity should be known if the three measurable quantities, the average survive probability of the product state and the the average survive probablity of each subsystem, have been decided. Our protocol can be also applied to decide the selected element of the quantum proess matrix.

The Gravitational Deflection of Light in F(R)-gravity

The fact that the gravitation could deflect the light trajectory has been confirmed by a large number of observation data, that is consistent with the result calculated by Einstein's gravity. F(R)-gravity is the modification of Einstein's gravity. According to the field equations obtained by the action of the f(R) form, we get a similar Schwarzschild metric. According to the condition that four-dimension momenta of the photon return to zero and that of conservation of covariant momenta, we obtain the equation of motion of the photon in a specific form of f (R)-gravity. We solve the equation to get the gravitational deflection angle of light that grazes the surface of sun and the calculation result is consistent with the experimental observation data.
