Quantum circuit for the fast Fourier transform

We propose an implementation of the algorithm for the fast Fourier transform (FFT) as a quantum circuit consisting of a combination of some quantum gates. In our implementation, a data sequence is expressed by a tensor product of vector spaces. Namely, our FFT is defined as a transformation of the tensor product of quantum states. It is essentially different from the so-called quantum Fourier transform (QFT) defined to be a linear transformation of the amplitudes for the superposition of quantum states. The quantum circuit for the FFT consists of several circuits for elementary arithmetic operations such as a quantum adder, subtractor and shift operations, which are implemented as effectively as possible. Namely, our circuit does not generate any garbage bits. The advantages of our method compared to the QFT are its high versatility, and data storage efficiency in terms, for instance, of the quantum image processing.

Partition functions of integrable lattice models and combinatorics of symmetric polynomials

We review and present new studies on the relation between the partition functions of integrable lattice models and symmetric polynomials, and its combinatorial representation theory based on the correspondence, including our work. In particular, we examine the correspondence between the wavefunctions of the XXZ type, Felderhof type and the boson type integrable models and symmetric polynomials such as the Schur, Grothendieck and symplectic Schur functions. We also give a brief report of our work on generalizing the correspondence between the Felderhof models and factorial Schur and symplectic Schur functions.

Quantum integrable combinatorics of Schur polynomials

We examine and present new combinatorics for the Schur polynomials from the viewpoint of quantum integrability. We introduce and analyze an integrable six-vertex model which can be viewed as a certain degeneration model from a t-deformed boson model. By a detailed analysis of the wavefunction from the quantum inverse scattering method, we present a novel combinatorial formula which expresses the Schur polynomials by using an additional parameter, which is in the same sense but different from the Tokuyama formula. We also give an algebraic analytic proof for the Cauchy identity and make applications of the domain wall boundary partition functions to the enumeration of alternating sign matrices.

K-theoretic boson-fermion correspondence and melting crystals

We study non-Hermitian integrable fermion and boson systems from the perspectives of Grothendieck polynomials. The models considered in this article are the five-vertex model as a fermion system and the non-Hermitian phase model as a boson system. Both of the models are characterized by the different solutions satisfying the same Yang-Baxter relation. From our previous works on the identification between the wavefunctions of the five-vertex model and Grothendieck polynomials, we introduce skew Grothendieck polynomials, and derive the addition theorem among them. Using these relations, we derive the wavefunctions of the non-Hermitian phase model as a determinant form which can also be expressed as the Grothendieck polynomials. Namely, we establish a K-theoretic boson-fermion correspondence at the level of wavefunctions. As a by-product, the partition function of the statistical mechanical model of a 3D melting crystal is exactly calculated by use of the scalar products of the wavefunctions of the phase model. The resultant expression can be regarded as a K-theoretic generalization of the MacMahon function describing the generating function of the plane partitions, which interpolates the generating functions of two-dimensional and three-dimensional Young diagrams.

Thermal Pure Quantum States of Many-Particle Systems

We generalize the thermal pure quantum (TPQ) formulation of statistical mechanics, in such a way that it is applicable to systems whose Hilbert space is infinite dimensional. Assuming particle systems, we construct the grand-canonical TPQ (gTPQ) state, which is the counterpart of the grand-canonical Gibbs state of the ensemble formulation. A single realization of the gTPQ state gives all quantities of statistical-mechanical interest, with exponentially small probability of error. This formulation not only sheds new light on quantum statistical mechanics but also is useful for practical computations. As an illustration, we apply it to the Hubbard model, on a one-dimensional (1d) chain and on a two-dimensional (2d) triangular lattice. For the 1d chain, our results agree well with the exact solutions over wide ranges of temperature, chemical potential and the on-site interaction. For the 2d triangular lattice, for which exact results are unknown, we obtain reliable results over a wide range of temperature. We also find that finite-size effects are much smaller in the gTPQ state than in the canonical TPQ (cTPQ) state. This also shows that in the ensemble formulation the grand-canonical Gibbs state of a finite-size system simulates an infinite system much better than the canonical Gibbs state.

Vertex models, TASEP and Grothendieck polynomials

We examine the wavefunctions and their scalar products of a one-parameter family of integrable five vertex models. At a special point of the parameter, the model investigated is related to an irreversible interacting stochastic particle system the so-called totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP). By combining the quantum inverse scattering method with a matrix product representation of the wavefunctions, the on/off-shell wavefunctions of the five vertex models are represented as a certain determinant form. Up to some normalization factors, we find the wavefunctions are given by Grothendieck polynomials, which are a one-parameter deformation of Schur polynomials. Introducing a dual version of the Grothendieck polynomials, and utilizing the determinant representation for the scalar products of the wavefunctions, we derive a generalized Cauchy identity satisfied by the Grothendieck polynomials and their duals. Several representation theoretical formulae for Grothendieck polynomials are also presented. As a byproduct, the relaxation dynamics such as Green functions for the periodic TASEP are found to be described in terms of Grothendieck polynomials.

Exact Relaxation Dynamics in the Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process

The relaxation dynamics of the one-dimensional totally asymmetric simple exclusion process on a ring is considered in the case of step initial condition. Analyzing the time evolution of the local particle densities and currents by the Bethe ansatz method, we examine their full relaxation dynamics. As a result, we observe peculiar behaviors, such as the emergence of a ripple in the density profile and the existence of the excessive particle currents. Moreover, by making a finite-size scaling analysis of the asymptotic amplitudes of the local densities and currents, we find the scaling exponents with respect to the total number of sites to be -3/2 and -1 respectively.

Long time asymptotics of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process

We study the long time asymptotics of the relaxation dynamics of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process on a ring. Evaluating the asymptotic amplitudes of the local currents by the algebraic Bethe ansatz method, we find the relaxation times starting from the step and alternating initial conditions are governed by different eigenvalues of the Markov matrix. In both cases, the scaling exponents of the leading asymptotic amplitudes with respect to the total number of sites are found to be -1. We also study the asymptotics of correlation functions such as the emptiness formation probability.

Multiple Schramm-Loewner evolutions for conformal field theories with Lie algebra symmetries

We provide multiple Schramm-Loewner evolutions (SLEs) to describe the scaling limit of multiple interfaces in critical lattice models possessing Lie algebra symmetries. The critical behavior of the models is described by Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) models. Introducing a multiple Brownian motion on a Lie group as well as that on the real line, we construct the multiple SLE with additional Lie algebra symmetries. The connection between the resultant SLE and the WZW model can be understood via SLE martingales satisfied by the correlation functions in the WZW model. Due to interactions among SLE traces, these Brownian motions have drift terms which are determined by partition functions for the corresponding WZW model. As a concrete example, we apply the formula to the su(2)k-WZW model. Utilizing the fusion rules in the model, we conjecture that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the partition functions and the topologically inequivalent configurations of the SLE traces. Furthermore, solving the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation, we exactly compute the probabilities of occurrence for certain configurations (i.e. crossing probabilities) of traces for the triple SLE.

Thermodynamic properties of quantum sine-Gordon spin chain system KCuGaF6

We investigated the thermodynamic properties of the spin-1/2 one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet KCuGaF6 by measuring the specific heat in magnetic fields. When this compound is subjected to a uniform magnetic field H a transverse staggered magnetic field h is induced in this compound owing to the staggered component of the g tensor and the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction with an alternating D vector. Consequently, the quantum sine-Gordon (SG) model is an effective model of this compound in a uniform magnetic field. In three different field directions, we observed a magnetic-field-induced gap, which increases with H. We analyzed experimental results using specific heat theory based on quantum SG theory. The thermodynamic property for H // c is very well described in terms of the elementary excitations characteristic of the quantum SG model, while for the other field directions, significant contributions from other excitation modes beyond the framework of the quantum SG model were observed. For H // b, a quantum phase transition between gapless and gapped ground states was observed.

Spectral Properties of Interacting One-Dimensional Spinless Fermions

The spectral properties of the spinless fermion model with nearest-neighbor repulsive interactions on a one-dimensional lattice are investigated using the Bethe ansatz. Although its bulk quantities are exactly the same as those of the spin-1/2 XXZ chain, the difference in the statistics of particles causes substantial effects on spectral features, such as gapless points of dispersion relations and line shapes of spectral functions. In this Letter, we clarify the origin of the differences in spectral features between fermionic and bosonic systems in terms of Bethe ansatz solutions. We also confirm that the two-string solutions have considerable spectral weights in the high-energy regime.

Form factors and correlation functions of an interacting spinless fermion model

Introducing the fermionic R-operator and solutions of the inverse scattering problem for local fermion operators, we derive a multiple integral representation for zero-temperature correlation functions of a one-dimensional interacting spinless fermion model. Correlation functions particularly considered are the one-particle Green's function and the density-density correlation function both for any interaction strength and for arbitrary particle densities. In particular for the free fermion model, our formulae reproduce the known exact results. Form factors of local fermion operators are also calculated for a finite system.

Non-dissipative Thermal Transport and Magnetothermal Effect for the Spin-1/2 Heisenberg Chain

Anomalous magnetothermal effects are discussed in the spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain. The energy current is related to one of the non-trivial conserved quantities underlying integrability and therefore both the diagonal and off diagonal dynamical correlations of spin and energy current diverge. The energy-energy and spin-energy current correlations at finite temperatures are exactly calculated by a lattice path integral formulation. The low-temperature behavior of the thermomagnetic (magnetic Seebeck) coefficient is also discussed. Due to effects of strong correlations, we observe the magnetic Seebeck coefficient changes sign at certain interaction strengths and magnetic fields.

Next Nearest-Neighbor Correlation Functions of the Spin-1/2 XXZ Chain at Critical Region

The correlation functions of the spin-1/2 XXZ spin chain in the ground state are expressed in the form of the multiple integrals. For -1< Delta <1, they were obtained by Jimbo and Miwa in 1996. Especially the next nearest-neighbour correlation functions are given as certain three-dimensional integrals. We shall show these integrals can be reduced to one-dimensional ones and thereby evaluate the values of the next nearest-neighbor correlation functions. We have also found that the remaining one-dimensinal integrals can be evaluated analytically, when nu = arccos(Delta)/pi is a rational number.

Third Neighbor Correlators of Spin-1/2 Heisenberg Antiferromagnet

We exactly evaluate the third neighbor correlator <S_j^z S_{j+3}^z> and all the possible non-zero correlators <S^{alpha}_j S^{beta}_{j+1} S^{gamma}_{j+2} S^{delta}_{j+3}> of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg $XXX$ antiferromagnet in the ground state without magnetic field. All the correlators are expressed in terms of certain combinations of logarithm ln2, the Riemann zeta function zeta(3), zeta(5) with rational coefficients. The results accurately coincide with the numerical ones obtained by the density-matrix renormalization group method and the numerical diagonalization.

Excited state TBA and functional relations in spinless Fermion model

The excited state thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations for the spinless Fermion model are presented by the quantum transfer matrix (QTM) approach. We introduce a more general family called T-functions and explore functional relations among them (T-system) and their certain combinations (Y-system). {}From their analytical property, we derive a closed set of non-linear integral equations which characterize the correlation length of $<c_j^{\dagger}c_i>$ at any finite temperatures. Solving these equations numerically, we explicitly determine the correlation length, which coincides with earlier results with high accuracy.
