Isomorphic induced modules and Dynkin diagram automorphisms of semisimple Lie algebras

Consider a simple Lie algebra g\mathfrak{g} and g‾\overline{\mathfrak{g}}% \subset \mathfrak{g} a Levi subalgebra. Two irreducible $\overline{% \mathfrak{g}}$-modules yield isomorphic inductions to g\mathfrak{g} when their highest weights coincide up to conjugation by an element of the Weyl group WW of g\mathfrak{g} which is also a Dynkin diagram automorphism of % \overline{\mathfrak{g}}. In this paper we study the converse problem: given two irreducible g‾\overline{\mathfrak{g}}-modules of highest weight μμ and νν whose inductions to g\mathfrak{g} are isomorphic, can we conclude that μμ and νν are conjugate under the action of an element of WW which is also a Dynkin diagram automorphism of $\overline{\mathfrak{g}% }$ ? We conjecture this is true in general. We prove this conjecture in type AA and, for the other root systems, in various situations providing μμ and νν satisfy additional hypotheses. Our result can be interpreted as an analogue for branching coefficient of the main result of \cite{Raj} on tensor product multiplicities.

Asymptotic lowest two-sided cell

To a Coxeter system (W,S)(W,S) (with SS finite) and a weight function $L : W \to \NM$ is associated a partition of WW into Kazhdan-Lusztig (left, right or two-sided) LL-cells. Let S∘={s∈S∣L(s)=0}S^\circ = \{s \in S | L(s)=0\}, S+={s∈S∣L(s)>0}S^+=\{s \in S | L(s) > 0\} and let CC be a Kazhdan-Lusztig (left, right or two-sided) LL-cell. According to the semicontinuity conjecture of the first author, there should exist a positive natural number mm such that, for any weight function $L' : W \to \NM$ such that L(s+)=L′(s+)>mL′(s∘)L(s^+)=L'(s^+) > m L'(s^\circ) for all s+∈S+s^+ \in S^+ and s∘∈S∘s^\circ \in S^\circ, CC is a union of Kazhdan-Lusztig (left, right or two-sided) L′L'-cells. The aim of this paper is to prove this conjecture whenever (W,S)(W,S) is an affine Weyl group and CC is contained in the lowest two-sided LL-cell.
