A new family of isolated symplectic singularities with trivial local fundamental group

We construct a new infinite family of 4-dimensional isolated symplectic singularities with trivial local fundamental group, answering a question of Beauville raised in 2000. Three constructions are presented for this family: (1) as singularities in blowups of the quotient of $\mathbb{C}^4$ by the dihedral group of order $2d$, (2) as singular points of Calogero-Moser spaces associated with dihedral groups of order $2d$ at equal parameters, (3) as singularities of a certain Slodowy slice in the $d$-fold cover of the nilpotent cone in ${\mathfrak{sl}}_d$.

Birational geometry of symplectic quotient singularities

For a finite subgroup $Γ\subset \mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and for $n\geq 1$, we use variation of GIT quotient for Nakajima quiver varieties to study the birational geometry of the Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on the minimal resolution $S$ of the Kleinian singularity $\mathbb{C}^2/Γ$. It is well known that $X:=\mathrm{Hilb}^{[n]}(S)$ is a projective, crepant resolution of the symplectic singularity $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/Γ_n$, where $Γ_n=Γ\wr\mathfrak{S}_n$ is the wreath product. We prove that every projective, crepant resolution of $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/Γ_n$ can be realised as the fine moduli space of $θ$-stable $Π$-modules for a fixed dimension vector, where $Π$ is the framed preprojective algebra of $Γ$ and $θ$ is a choice of generic stability condition. Our approach uses the linearisation map from GIT to relate wall crossing in the space of $θ$-stability conditions to birational transformations of $X$ over $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/Γ_n$. As a corollary, we describe completely the ample and movable cones of $X$ over $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/Γ_n$, and show that the Mori chamber decomposition of the movable cone is determined by an extended Catalan hyperplane arrangement of the ADE root system associated to $Γ$ by the McKay correspondence. In the appendix, we show that morphisms of quiver varieties induced by variation of GIT quotient are semismall, generalising a result of Nakajima in the case where the quiver variety is smooth.

Cuspidal Calogero-Moser and Lusztig families for Coxeter groups

The goal of this paper is to compute the cuspidal Calogero-Moser families for all infinite families of finite Coxeter groups, at all parameters. We do this by first computing the symplectic leaves of the associated Calogero-Moser space and then by classifying certain "rigid" modules. Numerical evidence suggests that there is a very close relationship between Calogero-Moser families and Lusztig families. Our classification shows that, additionally, the cuspidal Calogero-Moser families equal cuspidal Lusztig families for the infinite families of Coxeter groups.

$SL_2$-action on Hilbert schemes and Calogero-Moser spaces

We study the natural $GL_2$-action on the Hilbert scheme of points in the plane, resp. $SL_2$-action on the Calogero-Moser space. We describe the closure of the $GL_2$-orbit, resp. $SL_2$-orbit, of each point fixed by the corresponding diagonal torus. We also find the character of the representation of the group $GL_2$ in the fiber of the Procesi bundle, and its Calogero-Moser analogue, over the $SL_2$-fixed point.

Endomorphisms of Verma modules for rational Cherednik algebras

We study the endomorphism algebra of Verma modules for rational Cherednik algebras at t=0. It is shown that, in many cases, these endomorphism algebras are quotients of the centre of the rational Cherednik algebra. Geometrically, they define Lagrangian subvariaties of the generalized Calogero-Moser space. In the introduction, we motivate our results by describing them in the context of derived intersections of Lagrangians.

Hamiltonian reduction and nearby cycles for Mirabolic D-modules

We study holonomic D-modules on SL_n(C)xC^n, called mirabolic modules, analogous to Lusztig's character sheaves. We describe the supports of simple mirabolic modules. We show that a mirabolic module is killed by the functor of Hamiltonian reduction from the category of mirabolic modules to the category of representations of the trigonometric Cherednik algebra if and only if the characteristic variety of the module is contained in the unstable locus. We introduce an analogue of the Verdier specialization functor for representations of Cherednik algebras which agrees, on category O, with the restriction functor of Bezrukavnikov and Etingof. In type A, we also consider a Verdier specialization functor on mirabolic D-modules. We show that Hamiltonian reduction intertwines specialization functors on mirabolic D-modules with the corresponding functors on representations of the Cherednik algebra. This allows us to apply known purity results for nearby cycles in the setting considered by Bezrukavnikov and Etingof.

On singular Calogero-Moser spaces

Using combinatorial properties of complex reflection groups, we show that the generalised Calogero-Moser space associated to the centre of the corresponding rational Cherednik algebra is singular for all values of its deformation parameter c if and only if the group is different from the wreath product $S_n\wr C_m$ and the binary tetrahedral group. This result and a theorem of Ginzburg and Kaledin imply that there does not exist a symplectic resolution of the singular symplectic variety h+h*/W outside of these cases; conversely we show that there exists a symplectic resolution for the binary tetrahedral group (Hilbert schemes provide resolutions for the wreath product case).

On the (non)existence of symplectic resolutions for imprimitive symplectic reflection groups

We study the existence of symplectic resolutions of quotient singularities V/G where V is a symplectic vector space and G acts symplectically. Namely, we classify the symplectically irreducible and imprimitive groups, excluding those of the form $K \rtimes S_2$ where $K < \SL_2(\C)$, for which the corresponding quotient singularity admits a projective symplectic resolution. As a consequence, for $\dim V \neq 4$, we classify all quotient singularities $V/G$ admitting a projective symplectic resolution which do not decompose as a product of smaller-dimensional quotient singularities, except for at most four explicit singularities, that occur in dimensions at most 10, for whom the question of existence remains open.

Rational Cherednik algebras and Schubert cells

The representation theory of rational Cherednik algebras of type A at t=0 gives rise, by considering supports, to a natural family of smooth Lagrangian subvarieties of the Calogero-Moser space. The goal of this article is to make precise the relationship between these Lagrangians and Schubert cells in the adelic Grassmannian. In order to do this we show that the isomorphism, as constructed by Etingof and Ginzburg, from the spectrum of the centre of the rational Cherednik algebra to the Calogero-Moser space is compatible with the factorization property of both of these spaces. As a consequence, the space of homomorphisms between certain representations of the rational Cherednik algebra can be identified with functions on the intersection Schubert cells.

A new linear quotient of C^4 admitting a symplectic resolution

We show that the quotient C^4/G admits a symplectic resolution for G = (Q_8 x D_8)/(Z/2) < Sp(4,C). Here Q_8 is the quaternionic group of order eight and D_8 is the dihedral group of order eight, and G is the quotient of their direct product which identifies the nontrivial central elements -1 of each. It is equipped with the tensor product of the defining two-dimensional representations of Q_8 and D_8. This group is also naturally a subgroup of the wreath product group of Q_8 by S_2. We compute the singular locus of the family of commutative spherical symplectic reflection algebras deforming C^4/G. We also discuss preliminary investigations on the more general question of classifying linear quotients V / G admitting symplectic resolutions.

On the smoothness of centres of rational Cherednik algebras in positive characteristic

In this article we study rational Cherednik algebras at $t = 1$ in positive characteristic. We study a finite dimensional quotient of the rational Cherednik algebra called the restricted rational Cherednik algebra. When the corresponding pseudo-reflection group belongs to the infinite series $G(m,d,n)$, we describe explicitly the block decomposition of the restricted algebra. We also classify all pseudo-reflection groups for which the centre of the corresponding rational Cherednik algebra is regular for generic values of the deformation parameter.
