A Compactness Theorem for $SO(3)$ Anti-Self-Dual Equation with Translation Symmetry

Motivated by the Atiyah-Floer conjecture, we consider $SO(3)$ Santi-self-dual instantons on the product of the real line and a three-manifold with cylindrical end. We prove a Gromov-Uhlenbeck type compactness theorem, namely, any sequence of such instantons with uniform energy bound has a subsequence converging to a type of singular objects which may have both instanton and holomorphic curve components. This result is the first step towards constructing a natural bounding cochain proposed by Fukaya for the $SO(3)$ Atiyah-Floer conjecture.

An open quantum Kirwan map

We construct a morphism from the equivariant Fukaya algebra of a Lagrangian brane in the zero level set of a moment map of a Hamiltonian action to the Fukaya algebra of the quotient brane. This morphism induces a map between Maurer-Cartan solution spaces, and intertwines the disk potentials. As an application, we show under some technical hypotheses that weak unobstructedness of an invariant Lagrangian brane implies weak unobstructedness of its quotient. For semi-Fano toric manifolds we give a different proof of the open mirror theorem of Chan-Lau-Leung-Tseng by showing that the potential of a Lagrangian toric orbit in a toric manifold is related to the Givental-Hori-Vafa potential by a change of variable. We also reprove the results of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono on weak unobstructedness of these toric orbits. In the case of polygon spaces we show the existence of weakly unobstructed and Floer nontrivial products of spheres.

Local model for the moduli space of affine vortices

We show that the moduli space of regular affine vortices, which are solutions of the symplectic vortex equation over the complex plane, has the structure of a smooth manifold. The construction uses Ziltener's Fredholm theory results [31]. We also extend the result to the case of affine vortices over the upper half plane. These results are necessary ingredients in defining the "open quantum Kirwan map" proposed by Woodward [24].

Analysis of gauged Witten equation

The gauged Witten equation was essentially introduced by Witten in his formulation of gauged linear $σ$-model (GLSM). GLSM is a physics theory which explains the so-called Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence. This is the first paper in a series towards a mathematical construction of GLSM. In this paper we study some analytical properties of the gauged Witten equation for a Lagrange multiplier type superpotential. It contains the asymptotic property of finite energy solutions, the linear Fredholm property, the uniform $C^0$-bound, and the compactness of the moduli space of solutions over a fixed smooth $r$-spin curve with uniform energy bound.

Gauged Hamiltonian Floer homology I: definition of the Floer homology groups

We construct the vortex Floer homology group $VHF (M,μ;H)$ for an aspherical Hamiltonian $G$-manifold $(M, ω)$ with moment map $μ$ and a class of $G$-invariant Hamiltonian loop $H_t$, following the proposal of [3]. This is a substitute for the ordinary Hamiltonian Floer homology of the symplectic quotient of $M$. We achieve the transversality of the moduli space by the classical perturbation argument instead of the virtual technique, so the homology can be defined over ${\mathbb Z}$ or ${\mathbb Z}_2$.

Morse theory for Lagrange multipliers and adiabatic limits

Given two Morse functions $f, μ$ on a compact manifold $M$, we study the Morse homology for the Lagrange multiplier function on $M \times {\mathbb R}$ which sends $(x, η)$ to $f(x) + ημ(x)$. Take a product metric on $M \times {\mathbb R}$, and rescale its ${\mathbb R}$-component by a factor $λ^2$. We show that generically, for large $λ$, the Morse-Smale-Witten chain complex is isomorphic to the one for $f$ and the metric restricted to ${μ^{-1}(0)}$, with grading shifted by one. On the other hand, let $λ\to 0$, we obtain another chain complex, which is geometrically quite different but has the same homology as the singular homology of $μ^{-1}(0)$ and the isomorphism between them is provided by the homotopy by varying $λ$. Our proofs contain both the implicit function theorem on Banach manifolds and geometric singular perturbation theory.

Moduli space of twisted holomorphic maps with Lagrangian boundary condition: compactness

Let $(X, ω)$ be a compact symplectic manifold and $L$ be a Lagrangian submanifold. Suppose $(X, L)$ has a Hamiltonian $S^1$ action with moment map $μ$. Take an invariant $ω$-compatible almost complex structure, we consider tuples $(C, P, A, φ)$ where $C$ is a smooth bordered Riemann surface of fixed topological type, $P\to C$ is an $S^1$-principal bundle, $A$ is a connection on $P$ and $φ$ is a section of $P\times_{S^1} X$ satisfying $\ov\partial_A φ=0,\ ι_νF_A+ μ(φ)=c$ with boundary condition $φ(\partial C) \subset P \times_{S^1} L$. Here $F_A$ is the curvature of $A$ and $ν$ is a volume form on $C$ and $c\in i{\mb R}$ is a constant. We compactify the moduli space of isomorphism classes of such objects with energy $\leq K$, where the energy is defined to be the Yang-Mills-Higgs functional $\| F_A\|_{L^2}^2+ \| d_Aφ\|_{L^2}^2+ \| μ(φ)-c \|_{L^2}^2.$ This generalizes the compactness theorem of Mundet-Tian \cite{Mundet_Tian_2009} in the case of closed Riemann surfaces.
