Quantum Kirwan for quantum K-theory

For G a complex reductive group and X a smooth projective or convex quasi-projective polarized G-variety we construct a formal map in quantum K-theory from the equivariant quantum K-theory $QK^G(X)$ to the quantum K-theory of the git quotient $QK(X//G)$ assuming the quotient $X//G$ is a smooth Deligne-Mumford stack with projective coarse moduli space. As an example, we give a presentation of the (possibly bulk-shifted) quantum K-theory of any smooth proper toric Deligne-Mumford stack with projective coarse moduli space. We also provide awall-crossing formula for the K-theoretic gauged potential under variation of git quotient, a proof of the invariance of certain K-theoretic Gromov-Witten invariants under (strong) crepant transformation assumptions, and a proof of a version of the abelian non-abelian correspondence.

An open quantum Kirwan map

We construct a morphism from the equivariant Fukaya algebra of a Lagrangian brane in the zero level set of a moment map of a Hamiltonian action to the Fukaya algebra of the quotient brane. This morphism induces a map between Maurer-Cartan solution spaces, and intertwines the disk potentials. As an application, we show under some technical hypotheses that weak unobstructedness of an invariant Lagrangian brane implies weak unobstructedness of its quotient. For semi-Fano toric manifolds we give a different proof of the open mirror theorem of Chan-Lau-Leung-Tseng by showing that the potential of a Lagrangian toric orbit in a toric manifold is related to the Givental-Hori-Vafa potential by a change of variable. We also reprove the results of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono on weak unobstructedness of these toric orbits. In the case of polygon spaces we show the existence of weakly unobstructed and Floer nontrivial products of spheres.

Quantum Witten localization and abelianization for qde solutions

We prove a quantum version of the localization formula of Witten that relates invariants of a git quotient with the equivariant invariants of the action. Using the formula we prove a quantum version of an abelianization formula of S. Martin relating invariants of geometric invariant theory quotients by a group and its maximal torus, conjectured by Bertram, Ciocan-Fontanine, and Kim. By similar techniques we prove a quantum Lefschetz principle for holomorphic symplectic reductions. As an application, we give a formula for the fundamental solution to the quantum differential equation (qde) for the moduli space of points on the projective line and for the smoothed moduli space of framed sheaves on the projective plane (a Nakajima quiver variety).

Gauged Floer theory of toric moment fibers

We investigate the small area limit of the gauged Lagrangian Floer cohomology of Frauenfelder. The resulting cohomology theory, which we call quasimap Floer cohomology, is an obstruction to displaceability of Lagrangians in the symplectic quotient. We use the theory to reproduce the results of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono and Cho-Oh on non-displaceability of moment fibers of not-necessarily-Fano toric varieties and extend their results to toric orbifolds, without virtual fundamental chains. Finally we describe a conjectural relationship to Floer cohomology in the quotient.

Gauged Gromov-Witten theory for small spheres

For smooth projective G-varieties, we equate the gauged Gromov-Witten invariants for sufficiently small area and genus zero with the invariant part of equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants. As an application we deduce a gauged version of abelianization for Gromov-Witten invariants. In the symplectic setting, we prove that any sequence of genus zero symplectic vortices with vanishing area has a subsequence that converges after gauge transformation to a holomorphic map with zero average moment map.

Morphisms of CohFT algebras and quantization of the Kirwan map

We introduce a notion of morphism of CohFT algebras, based on the analogy with A-infinity morphisms. We discuss a "quantization" of the classical Kirwan morphism to a morphism of CohFT algebras from the equivariant quantum cohomology of a G-variety to the quantum cohomology of its git or symplectic quotient, and an example relating to the orbifold quantum cohomology of a compact toric orbifold. Finally we identify the space of Cartier divisors on the moduli space of scaled marked curves; these appear in the splitting axiom.

Quasimap Floer cohomology and varying symplectic quotients

We use quasimap Floer cohomology for varying symplectic quotients to resolve several puzzles regarding displaceability of toric moment fibers. For example, we (i) present a compact Hamiltonian torus action containing an {\em open} subset of non-displaceable orbits and a codimension four singular set, partly answering a question of McDuff, and (ii) determine displaceability for most of the moment fibers of a symplectic ellipsoid.

On the density-potential mapping in time-dependent density functional theory

The key questions of uniqueness and existence in time-dependent density functional theory are usually formulated only for potentials and densities that are analytic in time. Simple examples, standard in quantum mechanics, lead however to non-analyticities. We reformulate these questions in terms of a non-linear Schrödinger equation with a potential that depends non-locally on the wavefunction.

Linearization of Poisson actions and singular values of matrix products

We prove that the linearization functor from the category of Hamiltonian K-actions with group-valued moment maps in the sense of Lu, to the category of ordinary Hamiltonian K-actions, preserves products up to symplectic isomorphism. As an application, we give a new proof of the Thompson conjecture on singular values of matrix products and extend this result to the case of real matrices. We give a formula for the Liouville volume of these spaces and obtain from it a hyperbolic version of the Duflo isomorphism.

Eigenvalues of products of unitary matrices and quantum Schubert calculus

We describe the inequalities on the possible eigenvalues of products of unitary matrices in terms of quantum Schubert calculus. Related problems are the existence of flat connections on the punctured two-sphere with prescribed holonomies, and the decomposition of fusion product of representations of SU(n), in the large level limit. In the second part of the paper we investigate how various aspects of the problem (symmetry, factorization) relate to properties of the Gromov-Witten invariants.

Non-abelian convexity by symplectic cuts

In this paper we extend the results of Kirwan et alii on convexity properties of the moment map for Hamiltonian group actions, and on the connectedness of the fibers of the moment map, to the case of non-compact orbifolds. Our motivation is twofold. First, the category of orbifolds is important in symplectic geometry because, generically, the symplectic quotient of a symplectic manifold is an orbifold. Second, our proof is conceptually very simple since it reduces the non-abelian case to the abelian case.
