Curvature of the total space of a Griffiths negative vector bundle and quasi-Fuchsian space

For a holomorphic vector bundle $E$ over a Hermitian manifold $M$ there are two important notions of curvature positivity, the Griffiths positivity and Nakano positivity. We study the consequence of these positivities and the relevant estimates. If $E$ is Griffiths negative over Kähler manifold, then there is a Kähler metric on its total space $E$, and we calculate the curvature and prove the non-positivity of the curvature along the tautological direction. The Nakano positivity can be formulated as a positivity for the Nakano curvature operator and we give estimate the Nakano curvature operator associated with a Nakano positive direct image bundle. As applications we construct a mapping class group invariant Kähler metric on the quasi-Fuchsian space QF$(S)$, which extends the Weil-Petersson metric on the Teichmüller space $\mathcal{T}(S)\subset {\rm QF}(S)$, and we obtain estimates for the Nakano curvature operator for the dual Weil-Petersson metric on the holomorphic cotangent bundle of Teichmüller space.

Principal series of Hermitian Lie groups induced from Heisenberg parabolic subgroups

Let $G$ be an irreducible Hermitian Lie group and $D=G/K$ its bounded symmetric domain in $\mathbb C^d$ of rank $r$. Each $γ$ of the Harish-Chandra strongly orthogonal roots $\{γ_1, \cdots, γ_r\}$ defines a Heisenberg parabolic subgroup $P=MAN$ of $G$. We study the principal series representations $\Ind_P^G(1\otimes e^ν\otimes 1)$ of $G$ induced from $P$. We find the complementary series, reduction points, and unitary subrepresentations in this family of representations.

An extension problem related to the fractional Branson-Gover operators

The Branson-Gover operators are conformally invariant differential operators of even degree acting on differential forms. They can be interpolated by a holomorphic family of conformally invariant integral operators called fractional Branson-Gover operators. For Euclidean spaces we show that the fractional Branson-Gover operators can be obtained as Dirichlet-to-Neumann operators of certain conformally invariant boundary value problems, generalizing the work of Caffarelli-Silvestre for the fractional Laplacians to differential forms. The relevant boundary value problems are studied in detail and we find appropriate Sobolev type spaces in which there exist unique solutions and obtain the explicit integral kernels of the solution operators as well as some of its properties.

Hankel operators and the Dixmier trace on the Hardy space

We give criteria for the membership of Hankel operators on the Hardy space on the disc in the Dixmier class, and establish estimates for their Dixmier trace. In contrast to the situation in the Bergman space setting, it turns out that there exist Dixmier-class Hankel operators which are not measurable (i.e. their Dixmier trace depends on the choice of the underlying Banach limit), as well as Dixmier-class Hankel operators which do not belong to the $(1,\infty)$ Schatten-Lorentz ideal. A related question concerning logarithmic interpolation of Besov spaces is also discussed.

Positivity of Shimura operators

In [16] G. Shimura introduced a family of invariant differential operators that play a key role in the study of nearly holomorphic automorphic forms, and he asked for a determination of their \textquotedblleft domain of positivity\textquotedblright. In this paper we relate the eigenvalues of Shimura operators to certain polynomials introduced by A. Okounkov, which leads to an explicit answer to Shimura's questions.

Eichler-Shimura isomorphism for complex hyperbolic lattices

We consider the cohomology group $H^1(Γ, ρ)$ of a discrete subgroup $Γ\subset G=SU(n, 1)$ and the symmetric tensor representation $ρ$ on $S^m(\mathbb C^{n+1})$. We give an elementary proof of the Eichler-Shimura isomorphism that harmonic forms $H^1(Γ\backslash G/K, ρ)$ are $(0, 1)$-forms for the automorphic holomorphic bundle induced by the representation $S^m(\mathbb C^{n})$ of $K$.

The Capelli identity and Radon transform for Grassmannians

We study a family $C_{s,l}$ of Capelli-type invariant differential operators on the space of rectangular matrices over a real division algebra. The $C_{s,l}$ descend to invariant differential operators on the corresponding Grassmannian, which is a compact symmetric space, and we determine the image of the $C_{s,l}$ under the Harish-Chandra homomorphism. We also obtain analogous results for corresponding operators on the non-compact duals of the Grassmannians, and for line bundles. As an application we obtain a Radon inversion formula, which generalizes a recent result of B. Rubin for real Grassmannians.

Invariant differential operators on H-type groups and discrete components in restrictions of complementary series of rank one semisimple groups

We explicitly construct a finite number of discrete components in the restriction of complementary series representations of rank one semisimple groups $G$ to rank one subgroups $G_1$. For this we use the realizations of complementary series representations of $G$ and $G_1$ on Sobolev spaces on the nilpotent radicals $N$ and $N_1$ of the minimal parabolics in $G$ and $G_1$, respectively. The groups $N$ and $N_1$ are of H-type and we construct explicitly invariant differential operators between $N$ and $N_1$. These operators induce the projections onto the discrete components. Our construction of the invariant differential operators is carried out uniformly in the framework of H-type groups and also works for those H-type groups which do not occur as nilpotent radical of a parabolic subgroup in a semisimple group.

Discrete components in restriction of unitary representations of rank one semisimple Lie groups

We consider spherical principal series representations of the semisimple Lie group of rank one $G=SO(n, 1; \mathbb K)$, $\mathbb K=\br, \bc, \bh$. There is a family of unitarizable representations $π_ν$ of $G$ for $ν$ in an interval on $\mathbb R^+$, the so-called complementary series, and subquotient or subrepresentations of $G$ for $ν$ being negative integers. We consider the restriction of $(π_ν, G)$ under the subgroup $H=SO(n-1, 1; \mathbb K)$. We prove the appearing of discrete components. The corresponding results for the exceptional Lie group $F_{4(-20)}$ and its subgroup $Spin(8,1)$ are also obtained.

Radon, cosine and sine transforms on Grassmannian manifolds

Let $G_{n,r}(\bbK)$ be the Grassmannian manifold of $k$-dimensional $\bbK$-subspaces in $\bbK^n$ where $\bbK=\mathbb R, \mathbb C, \mathbb H$ is the field of real, complex or quaternionic numbers. We consider the Radon, cosine and sine transforms, $\mathcal R_{r^\prime, r}$, $\mathcal C_{r^\prime, r}$ and $\mathcal S_{r^\prime, r}$, from the $L^2$ space $L^2(G_{n,r}(\bbK))$ to the space $L^2(G_{n,r^\prime}(\bbK))$, for $r, r^\prime \le n-1$. The $L^2$ spaces are decomposed into irreducible representations of $G$ with multiplicity free. We compute the spectral symbols of the transforms under the decomposition. For that purpose we prove two Bernstein-Sato type formulas on general root systems of type BC for the sine and cosine type functions on the compact torus $\mathbb R^r/{2πQ^\vee}$ generalizing our recent results for the hyperbolic sine and cosine functions on the non-compact space $\mathbb R^r$. We find then also a characterization of the images of the transforms. Our results generalize those of Alesker-Bernstein and Grinberg. We prove further that the Knapp-Stein intertwining operator for certain induced representations is given by the sine transform and we give the unitary structure of the Stein's complementary series in the compact picture.

Restriction to symmetric subgroups of unitary representations of rank one semisimple Lie groups

We consider the spherical complementary series of rank one Lie groups $H_n=\SO_0(n, 1; \mathbb F)$ for $\mathbb F=\mathbb R, \mathbb C, \mathbb H$. We prove that there exist finitely many discrete components in its restriction under the subgroup $H_{n-1}=\SO_0(n-1, 1; \mathbb F)$. This is proved by imbedding the complementary series into analytic continuation of holomorphic discrete series of $G_n=SU(n, 1)$, $SU(n, 1)\times SU(n, 1)$ and $SU(2n, 2)$ and by the branching of holomorphic representations under the corresponding subgroup $G_{n-1}$.

Principal representations of SO(p,p+1)

For p odd, the Lie group SO_0(p+1,p+1) has a family of unitary degenerate principal series representations realized on the space of real (p+1) by (p+1) skew symmetric matrices, similar to the Stein's complementary series for SL(2n,C) or Speh's representation for SL(2n,R). We consider their restriction on the subgroup G= SO(p+1,p) and prove that they are still irreducible and is equivalent to (a unitarization of) the principal series representation of G, and also irreducible under a maximal parabolic subgroup of G.

Hua operators, Poisson transform and relative discrete series on line bundle over bounded symmetric domains

Let $Ω=G/K$ be a bounded symmetric domain and $S=K/L$ its Shilov boundary. We consider the action of $G$ on sections of a homogeneous line bundle over $Ω$ and the corresponding eigenspaces of $G$-invariant differential operators. The Poisson transform maps hyperfunctions on the $S$ to the eigenspaces. We characterize the image in terms of twisted Hua operators. For some special parameters the Poisson transform is of Szegö type mapping into the relative discrete series; we compute the corresponding elements in the discrete series.

Reproducing kernel for a class of weighted Bergman spaces on the symmetrized polydisc

A natural class of weighted Bergman spaces on the symmetrized polydisc is isometrically embedded as a subspace in the corresponding weighted Bergman space on the polydisc. We find an orthonormal basis for this subspace. It enables us to compute the kernel function for the weighted Bergman spaces on the symmetrized polydisc using the explicit nature of our embedding. This family of kernel functions include the Szegö and the Bergman kernel on the symmetrized polydisc.

Radon transform on real, complex and quaternionic Grassmannians

Let $G_{n,k}(\bbK)$ be the Grassmannian manifold of $k$-dimensional $\bbK$-subspaces in $\bbK^n$ where $\bbK=\mathbb R, \mathbb C, \mathbb H$ is the field of real, complex or quaternionic numbers. For $1\le k < k^\prime \le n-1$ we define the Radon transform $(\mathcal R f)(η)$, $η\in G_{n,k^\prime}(\bbK)$, for functions $f(ξ)$ on $G_{n,k}(\bbK)$ as an integration over all $ξ\subset η$. When $k+k^\prime \le n$ we give an inversion formula in terms of the Gårding-Gindikin fractional integration and the Cayley type differential operator on the symmetric cone of positive $k\times k$ matrices over $\bbK$. This generalizes the recent results of Grinberg-Rubin for real Grassmannians.

Non-symmetric Jacobi and Wilson type polynomials

Consider a root system of type $BC_1$ on the real line $\mathbb R$ with general positive multiplicities. The Cherednik-Opdam transform defines a unitary operator from an $L^2$-space on $\mathbb R$ to a $L^2$-space of $\mathbb C^2$-valued functions on $\mathbb R^+$ with the Harish-Chandra measure $|c(\lam)|^{-2}d\lam$. By introducing a weight function of the form $\cosh^{-\sig}(t)\tanh^{2k} t$ on $\mathbb R$ we find an orthogonal basis for the $L^2$-space on $\mathbb R$ consisting of even and odd functions expressed in terms of the Jacobi polynomials (for each fixed $\sig$ and $k$). We find a Rodrigues type formula for the functions in terms of the Cherednik operator. We compute explicitly their Cherednik-Opdam transforms. We discover thus a new family of $\mathbb C^2$-valued orthogonal polynomials. In the special case when $k=0$ the even polynomials become Wilson polynomials, and the corresponding result was proved earlier by Koornwinder.
