On the probabilistic Cauchy theory of the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb R^d$, $d \geq 3$

We consider the Cauchy problem of the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) on $\mathbb R^d$, $d \geq 3$, with random initial data and prove almost sure well-posedness results below the scaling critical regularity $s_\text{crit} = \frac{d-2}{2}$. More precisely, given a function on $\mathbb R^d$, we introduce a randomization adapted to the Wiener decomposition, and, intrinsically, to the so-called modulation spaces. Our goal in this paper is three-fold. (i) We prove almost sure local well-posedness of the cubic NLS below the scaling critical regularity along with small data global existence and scattering. (ii) We implement a probabilistic perturbation argument and prove `conditional' almost sure global well-posedness for $d = 4$ in the defocusing case, assuming an a priori energy bound on the critical Sobolev norm of the nonlinear part of a solution; when $d \ne 4$, we show that conditional almost sure global well-posedness in the defocusing case also holds under an additional assumption of global well-posedness of solutions to the defocusing cubic NLS with deterministic initial data in the critical Sobolev regularity. (iii) Lastly, we prove global well-posedness and scattering with a large probability for initial data randomized on dilated cubes.

Wiener randomization on unbounded domains and an application to almost sure well-posedness of NLS

We consider a randomization of a function on $\mathbb R^d$ that is naturally associated to the Wiener decomposition and, intrinsically, to the modulation spaces. Such randomized functions enjoy better integrability, thus allowing us to improve the Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation. As an example, we also show that the energy-critical cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb R^4$ is almost surely locally well-posed with respect to randomized initial data below the energy space.

Triangles and groups via cevians

For a given triangle $T$ and a real number $ρ$ we define Ceva's triangle $\CT_ρ(T)$ to be the triangle formed by three cevians each joining a vertex of $T$ to the point which divides the opposite side in the ratio $ρ:(1-ρ)$. We identify the smallest interval $\nM_T \subset \nR$ such that the family $\CT_ρ(T), ρ\in \nM_T$, contains all Ceva's triangles up to similarity. We prove that the composition of operators $\CT_ρ, ρ\in \nR$, acting on triangles is governed by a certain group structure on $\nR$. We use this structure to prove that two triangles have the same Brocard angle if and only if a congruent copy of one of them can be recovered by sufficiently many iterations of two operators $\CT_ρ$ and $\CT_ξ$ acting on the other triangle.

Modulation spaces, Wiener amalgam spaces, and Brownian motions

We study the local-in-time regularity of the Brownian motion with respect to localized variants of modulation spaces M^{p, q}_s and Wiener amalgam spaces W^{p, q}_s. We show that the periodic Brownian motion belongs locally in time to M^{p, q}_s (T) and W^{p, q}_s (T) for (s-1)q < -1, and the condition on the indices is optimal. Moreover, with the Wiener measure μon T, we show that (M^{p, q}_s (T), μ) and (W^{p, q}_s (T), μ) form abstract Wiener spaces for the same range of indices, yielding large deviation estimates. We also establish the endpoint regularity of the periodic Brownian motion with respect to a Besov-type space \ft{b}^s_{p, \infty} (T). Specifically, we prove that the Brownian motion belongs to \ft{b}^s_{p, \infty} (T) for (s-1) p = -1, and it obeys a large deviation estimate. Finally, we revisit the regularity of Brownian motion on usual local Besov spaces B_{p, q}^s, and indicate the endpoint large deviation estimates.

On the Hörmander classes of bilinear pseudodifferential operators

Bilinear pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the bilinear analog of all the Hörmander classes are considered and the possibility of a symbolic calculus for the transposes of the operators in such classes is investigated. Precise results about which classes are closed under transposition and can be characterized in terms of asymptotic expansions are presented. This work extends the results for more limited classes studied before in the literature and, hence, allows the use of the symbolic calculus (when it exists) as an alternative way to recover the boundedness on products of Lebesgue spaces for the classes that yield operators with bilinear Calderón-Zygmund kernels. Some boundedness properties for other classes with estimates in the form of Leibniz' rule are presented as well.
