Kähler geometry for $su(1,N|M)$-superconformal mechanics

We suggest the $su(1,N|M)$-superconformal mechanics formulated in terms of phase superspace given by the non-compact analogue of complex projective superspace $\mathbb{CP}^{N|M}$. We parameterized this phase space by the specific coordinates allowing to interpret it as a higher-dimensional super-analogue of the Lobachevsky plane parameterized by lower half-plane (Klein model). Then we introduced the canonical coordinates corresponding to the known separation of the "radial" and "angular" parts of (super)conformal mechanics. Relating the "angular" coordinates with action-angle variables we demonstrated that proposed scheme allows to construct the $su(1,N|M)$ supeconformal extensions of wide class of superintegrable systems. We also proposed the superintegrable oscillator- and Coulomb- like systems with a $su(1,N|M)$ dynamical superalgebra, and found that oscillator-like systems admit deformed $\mathcal{N}=2M$ Poincaré supersymmetry, in contrast with Coulomb-like ones.

Maxwell fish eye for polarized light

We consider the propagation of polarized light in the medium with Maxwell fish eye refraction index profile. We show that polarization violates the additional symmetries of medium, so that ray trajectories no longer remain closed. Then we suggest a modified, polarization-dependent Maxwell fish eye refraction index which restores all symmetries of initial profile and yields closed trajectories of polarized light. Explicit expressions for the polarization dependent integrals of motion and the solutions of corresponding ray trajectories are presented.

Extended symmetries in geometrical optics

We examine additional symmetries of specific refraction index profiles that are used in the well-known phenomena of perfect imaging and cloaking. In the considered cases, the translation generator and the angular momentum are conserved. We express the ray trajectory parameters through the integrals of motion and observe the existence of a photon state with maximal angular momentum, which can be used as an optical resonator. Application in plasmons and the role of polarization are discussed, and the Spin Hall effect in an extended symmetry profile is predicted.

Quantum SU$(2|1)$ supersymmetric $\mathbb{C}^N$ Smorodinsky--Winternitz system

We study quantum properties of SU$(2|1)$ supersymmetric (deformed ${\cal N}=4$, $d=1$ supersymmetric) extension of the superintegrable Smorodinsky--Winternitz system on a complex Euclidian space $\mathbb{C}^N$. The full set of wave functions is constructed and the energy spectrum is calculated. It is shown that SU$(2|1)$ supersymmetry implies the bosonic and fermionic states to belong to separate energy levels, thus exhibiting the "even-odd" splitting of the spectra. The superextended hidden symmetry operators are also defined and their action on SU$(2|1)$ multiplets of the wave functions is given. An equivalent description of the same system in terms of superconformal SU$(2|1,1)$ quantum mechanics is considered and a new representation of the hidden symmetry generators in terms of the SU$(2|1,1)$ ones is found.

Geometry and integrability in $\mathcal{N}=8$ supersymmetric mechanics

We construct the $\mathcal{N}=8$ supersymmetric mechanics with potential term whose configuration space is the special Kähler manifold of rigid type and show that it can be viewed as the Kähler counterpart of $\mathcal{N}=4$ mechanics related to "curved WDVV equations". Then, we consider the special case of the supersymmetric mechanics with the non-zero potential term defined on the family of $U(1)$-invariant one-(complex)dimensional special Kähler metrics. The bosonic parts of these systems include superintegrable deformations of perturbed two-dimensional oscillator and Coulomb systems.

Symmetries of deformed supersymmetric mechanics on Kähler manifolds

Based on the systematic Hamiltonian and superfield approaches we construct the deformed $\mathcal{N}=4,8$ supersymmetric mechanics on Kähler manifolds interacting with constant magnetic field, and study their symmetries. At first we construct the deformed $\mathcal{N}=4,8$ supersymmetric Landau problem via minimal coupling of standard (undeformed) $\mathcal{N}=4,8$ supersymmetric free particle systems on Kähler manifold with constant magnetic field. We show that the initial "flat" supersymmetries are necessarily deformed to $SU(2|1)$ and $SU(4|1)$ supersymmetries, with the magnetic field playing the role of deformation parameter, and that the resulting systems inherit all the kinematical symmetries of the initial ones. Then we construct $SU(2|1)$ supersymmetric Kähler oscillators and find that they include, as particular cases, the harmonic oscillator models on complex Euclidian and complex projective spaces, as well as superintegrable deformations thereof, viz. $\mathbb{C}^N$-Smorodinsky-Winternitz and $\mathbb{CP}^N$-Rosochatius systems. We show that the supersymmetric extensions proposed inherit all the kinematical symmetries of the initial bosonic models. They also inherit, at least in the case of $\mathbb{C}^N$ systems, hidden (non-kinematical) symmetries. The superfield formulation of these supersymmetric systems is presented, based on the worldline $SU(2|1)$ and $SU(4|1)$ superspace formalisms.

Integrability and separation of variables in Calogero-Coulomb-Stark and two-center Calogero-Coulomb systems

We propose the integrable N-dimensional Calogero-Coulomb-Stark and two-center Calogero-Coulomb systems and construct their constants of motion via the Dunkl operators. Their Schrödinger equations decouple in parabolic and elliptic coordinates into the set of three differential equations like for the Coulomb-Stark and two-center Coulomb problems. The Calogero term preserves the energy levels, but changes their degrees of degeneracy.

Spherical Calogero model with oscillator/Coulomb potential: quantum case

We consider the quantum mechanics of Calogero models in an oscillator or Coulomb potential on the N-dimensional sphere. Their Hamiltonians are obtained by an appropriate Dunkl deformation of the oscillator/Coulomb system on the sphere and its restriction to (Coxeter reflection) symmetric wave functions. By the same method we also find the symmetry generators and compute their algebras.

Runge-Lenz vector in Calogero-Coulomb problem

We construct the Runge-Lenz vector and symmetry algebra of rational Calogero-Coulomb problem, formulated in terms of Dunkl operators. We find that they are proper deformations of their Coulomb counterpart. Together with similar correspondence between the Calogero-oscillator and oscillator models, this observation permits to claim that most of properties of Coulomb and oscillator systems can be lifted to their Calogero-extended analogs by the proper replacement of momenta by Dunkl momenta operators.

Landau problem on the ellipsoid, hyperboloid and paraboloid of revolution

We define the Landau problem on two-dimensional surfaces of revolution of the second order: ellipsoid, hyperboloid and paraboloid. We start form the two-center MICZ-Kepler system Hamiltonian and then making the reduction into the various two-dimensional surfaces listed above we obtain the Hamiltonians of the charged particle moving on the corresponding surface of revolution with the magnetic filed conserving the symmetry of the two-dimensional surface(Landau problem). For each case we figure out at which values of parameters the qualitative character of the moving coincides with that of a free particle moving on the save two-dimensional surface. For the case of finite trajectories (ellipsoid) we construct also the action-angle variables.

Rigid particle revisited: extrinsic curvature yields the Dirac equation

We reexamine the model of relativistic particle with higher-derivative term linear on the first extrinsic curvature (rigidity). The passage from classical to quantum theory requires a number of rather unexpected steps which we report here. We found that, contrary to common opinion, quantization of the model in terms of $so(3.2)$-algebra yields massive Dirac equation.

preprint2014arXiv

Superintegrability of (generalized) Calogero models with oscillator or Coulomb potential

We deform N-dimensional (Euclidean, spherical and hyperbolic) oscillator and Coulomb systems, replacing their angular degrees of freedom by those of a generalized rational Calogero model. Using the action-angle description, it is established that maximal superintegrability is retained. For the rational Calogero model with Coulomb potential, we present all constants of motion via matrix model reduction. In particular, we construct the analog of the Runge-Lenz vector.

Higher-derivative N=4 superparticle in three-dimensional spacetime

Using the coset approach (nonlinear realization) we construct component actions for a superparticle in three-dimensional spacetime with N=4 supersymmetry partially broken to N=2. These actions may contain an anyonic term and the square of the first extrinsic worldline curvature. We present the supercharges for the unbroken and broken supersymmetries as well as the Hamiltonian for the supersymmetric anyon. In terms of the nonlinear realization superfields, the superspace actions take a simple form in all cases.

Action-angle variables for the particle near extreme Kerr throat

We construct the action-angle variables for the spherical part of conformal mechanics describing the motion of a particle near extreme Kerr throat. We indicate the existence of the critical point $|p_φ|=mc R_{\rm Sch}$ (with $m$ being the mass of the particle, $c$ denoting the speed of light, $R_{\rm Sch}=2γM /c^2$ being the Schwarzschild radius of a black hole with mass $M$, and $γ$ denoting the gravitational constant), where these variables are expressed in terms of elementary functions. Away from this point the action-angle variables are defined by elliptic integrals. The proposed formulation allows one to easily reconstruct the whole dynamics of the particle both in initial coordinates, as well as in the so-called conformal basis, where the Hamiltonian takes the form of conventional non-relativistic conformal mechanics. The related issues, such as semiclassical quantization and supersymmetrization are also discussed.

Isospin particle systems on quaternionic projective spaces

We construct the isospin particle system on $n$-dimensional quaternionic projective spaces in the presence of BPST-instanton by the reduction from the free particle on $(2n+1)$-dimensional complex projective space. Then we add to this system a "quaternionic oscillator potential" and show, that this oscillator-like system is superintegrable. We show, that besides the analogs of quadratic constants of motion of the spherical (Higgs) and $\mathbb{C}P^n $- oscillators, it possesses the third-order constants of motion, which are functionally independent from the quadratic ones.

The spherical sector of the Calogero model as a reduced matrix model

We investigate the matrix-model origin of the spherical sector of the rational Calogero model and its constants of motion. We develop a diagrammatic technique which allows us to find explicit expressions of the constants of motion and calculate their Poisson brackets. In this way we obtain all functionally independent constants of motion to any given order in the momenta. Our technique is related to the valence-bond basis for singlet states.

External field influence on semiflexible macromolecules: geometric coupling

We suggested a geometric approach to address the external field influence on the DNA molecules, described by the WLC model via geometric coupling. It consists in the introduction of the effective metrics depending on the potential of the external field, with further re-definition of the arc-length parameter and of the extrinsic curvatures of the DNA molecules. It yields the nontrivial impact of the external field in the internal energy of macromolecules. We give the Hamiltonian formulation of this model and perform its preliminary analysis in the redefinition of the initial energy density.

Integrable generalizations of oscillator and Coulomb systems via action-angle variables

Oscillator and Coulomb systems on N-dimensional spaces of constant curvature can be generalized by replacing their angular degrees of freedom with a compact integrable (N-1)-dimensional system. We present the action-angle formulation of such models in terms of theradial degree of freedom and the action-angle variables of the angular subsystem. As an example, we construct the spherical and pseudospherical generalization of the two-dimensional superintegrable models introduced by Tremblay, Turbiner and Winternitz and by Post and Winternitz. We demonstrate the superintegrability of these systems and give their hidden constant of motion.

Action-angle variables for dihedral systems on the circle

A nonrelativistic particle on a circle and subject to a cos^{-2}(k phi) potential is related to the two-dimensional (dihedral) Coxeter system I_2(k), for k in N. For such `dihedral systems' we construct the action-angle variables and establish a local equivalence with a free particle on the circle. We perform the quantization of these systems in the action-angle variables and discuss the supersymmetric extension of this procedure. By allowing radial motion one obtains related two-dimensional systems, including A_2, BC_2 and G_2 three-particle rational Calogero models on R, which we also analyze.

preprint2010arXiv

Invariants of the spherical sector in conformal mechanics

A direct relation is established between the constants of motion for conformal mechanics and those for its spherical part. In this way we find the complete set of functionally independent constants of motion for the so-called cuboctahedric Higgs oscillator, which is just the spherical part of the rational A_3 Calogero model (describing four Calogero particles after decoupling their center of mass).

preprint2010arXiv

Quantum ring models and action-angle variables

We suggest to use the action-angle variables for the study of properties of (quasi)particles in quantum rings. For this purpose we present the action-angle variables for three two-dimensional singular oscillator systems. The first one is the usual (Euclidean) singular oscillator, which plays the role of the confinement potential for the quantum ring. We also propose two singular spherical oscillator models for the role of the confinement system for the spherical ring. The first one is based on the standard Higgs oscillator potential. We show that, in spite of the presence of a hidden symmetry, it is not convenient for the study of the system's behaviour in a magnetic field. The second model is based on the so-called CP(1) oscillator potential and respects the inclusion of a constant magnetic field.

preprint2009arXiv

Hidden symmetries of integrable conformal mechanical systems

We split the generic conformal mechanical system into a "radial" and an "angular" part, where the latter is defined as the Hamiltonian system on the orbit of the conformal group, with the Casimir function in the role of the Hamiltonian. We reduce the analysis of the constants of motion of the full system to the study of certain differential equations on this orbit. For integrable mechanical systems, the conformal invariance renders them superintegrable, yielding an additional series of conserved quantities originally found by Wojciechowski in the rational Calogero model. Finally, we show that, starting from any N=4 supersymmetric "angular" Hamiltonian system one may construct a new system with full N=4 superconformal D(1,2;α) symmetry.

Elements of (super-)Hamiltonian Formalism

In these lectures we discuss some basic aspects of Hamiltonian formalism, which usually do not appear in standard texbooks on classical mechanics for physicists. We pay special attention to the procedure of Hamiltonian reduction illustrating it by the examples related to Hopf maps. Then we briefly discuss the supergeneralisation(s) of the Hamiltonian formalism and present some simple models of supersymmetric mechanics on Kähler manifolds.

(Super)Oscillator on CP(N) and Constant Magnetic Field

We define the "maximally integrable" isotropic oscillator on CP(N) and discuss its various properties, in particular, the behaviour of the system with respect to a constant magnetic field. We show that the properties of the oscillator on CP(N) qualitatively differ in the N>1 and N=1 cases. In the former case we construct the ``axially symmetric'' system which is locally equivalent to the oscillator. We perform the Kustaanheimo-Stiefel transformation of the oscillator on CP(2) and construct some generalized MIC-Kepler problem. We also define a N=2 superextension of the oscillator on CP(N) and show that for N>1 the inclusion of a constant magnetic field preserves the supersymmetry of the system.

Four-dimensional Hall mechanics as a particle on $\DC P^3$

In order to establish an explicit connection between four-dimensional Hall effect on $S^4$ and six-dimensional Hall effect on $\DC P^3$, we perform the Hamiltonian reduction of a particle moving on $\DC P^3$ in a constant magnetic field to the four-dimensional Hall mechanics (i.e. a particle on $S^4$ in a SU(2) instanton field). This reduction corresponds to fixing the isospin of the latter system.

Two phases of the noncommutative quantum mechanics

We consider quantum mechanics on the noncommutative plane in the presence of magnetic field $B$. We show, that the model has two essentially different phases separated by the point $Bθ=c\hbar^2/e$, where $θ$ is a parameter of noncommutativity. In this point the system reduces to exactly-solvable one-dimensional system. When $κ=1-eBθ/c\hbar^2<0$ there is a finite number of states corresponding to the given value of the angular momentum. In another phase, i.e. when $κ>0$ the number of states is infinite. The perturbative spectrum near the critical point $κ=0$ is computed.
