Structural Origin of the Gravitino Mass Term: Geometric and Supergravity Perspectives

We identify a minimal superspace projector that uniquely selects the Rarita Schwinger mass bilinear in four-dimensional N=1 supergravity. Working in a reduced superspace with a single fermionic direction, we show that Berezin projection of a canonical even supergeometric form isolates the unique Lorentz-invariant fermionic bilinear compatible with local supersymmetry. The construction is predynamical: it fixes the algebraic structure of the gravitino mass term independently of supersymmetry breaking mechanisms, background geometry, or matter couplings. We show that this projector embeds consistently into curved superspace, extends to N>1 theories, and clarifies the universality of the gravitino mass structure in supergravity.

On the absence of actual plateaus in zero-temperature magnetization curves of quantum spin clusters and chains

We examine the general features of the non-commutativity of the magnetization operator and Hamiltonian for the small quantum spin clusters. The source of this non-commutativity can be a difference in the Landé g-factors for different spins in the cluster, XY-anisotropy in the exchange interaction and the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya term in the direction different for the direction of the magnetic field. As a result, a zero-temperature magnetization curve for the small spin clusters mimics that for the macroscopic systems with the band(s) of magnetic excitations, i.e. for the given eigenstate of the spin cluster the corresponding magnetic moment can be an explicit function of the external magnetic field yielding the non-constant (non-plateau) form of the magnetization curve within the given eigenstate. Also, the XY-anisotropy makes the saturated magnetization (the eigenstate when all spins in cluster are aligned along the magnetic field) inaccessible for finite magnetic field magnitude (asymptotical saturation). We demonstrate all these features on three examples: spin-1/2 dimer, mixed spin-(1/2,1) dimer, spin-1/2 ring trimer. We consider the simplest Ising-Heisenberg chain, the XYZ-Ising diamond chain with four different g-factors as well. In the chain model the magnetization curve has more complicated and non trivial structure with than that for clusters.

Spatial dispersion effects upon local excitation of extrinsic plasmons in a graphene micro-disk

Excitation of surface plasmon waves in extrinsic graphene is studied using a full-wave electromagnetic field solver as analysis engine. Particular emphasis is placed on the role played by spatial dispersion due to the finite size of the two-dimensional material at the micro-scale. A simple instructive set up is considered where the near field of a wire antenna is held at sub-micrometric distance from a disk-shaped graphene patch. The key-input of the simulation is the graphene conductivity tensor at terahertz frequencies, being modeled by the Boltzmann transport equation for the valence and conduction electrons at the Dirac points~(where a linear wave-vector dependence of the band energies is assumed). The conductivity equation is worked out in different levels of approximations, based on the relaxation time ansatz with an additional constraint for particle number conservation. Both drift and diffusion currents are shown to significantly contribute to the spatially dispersive anisotropic features of micro-scale graphene. More generally, spatial dispersion effects are predicted to influence not only plasmon propagation free of external sources, but also typical scanning probe microscopy configurations. The paper set the focus on plasmon excitation phenomena induced by near field probes, being a central issue for the design of optical devices and photonic circuits.

Magnetization non-rational quasi-plateau and spatially modulated spin order in the model of the single-chain magnet, [{(CuL)_2 Dy}{Mo(CN)_8}] 2CH_3CN H_2O

Using the exact solution in terms of the generalized classical transfer matrix method we presented a detailed analysis of the magnetic properties and ground state structure of the simplified model of the single-chain magnet, trimetallic coordination polymer compound, [{(CuL)_2 Dy}{Mo(CN)_8}] 2CH_3CN H_2O is N,N'-propylenebis(3-methoxysalicylideneiminato). Due to appearance of highly anisotropic Dy3+ ion this material is an unique example of the one-dimensional magnets with Ising and Heisenberg bonds, allowing exact statistical-mechanical treatment. We found two zero-temperature ground states corresponding to different part of the magnetization curve of the material. The zero-filed ground state is shown to be an antiferromagnetic configuration with spatial modulation of the local Dy3+(which is proven to posses well defined Ising like properties due two large anisotropy of g-factors) and composite S=1/2 spin of the quantum spin trimer Cu-Mo-Cu in the form "up"-"down"-"down"-"up". Another important feature of this compound is the appearance of the quasi-plateau at non rational value of magnetization due to difference of the g-factors of the Cu- and Mo-ion in quantum spin trimers. The quasi-plateau is an almost horizontal part of the magnetization curve where the corresponding zero-temperature ground state of the chain demonstrate slow but monotonous dependence of the magnetization on the external magnetic field, while the $z$-projection of the total spin is constant.

Quantum Rings in Magnetic Fields and Spin Current Generation

We propose three different mechanisms for pumping spin-polarized currents in a ballistic circuit using a time-dependent magnetic field acting on an asymmetrically connected quantum ring at half filling. The first mechanism works thanks to a rotating magnetic field and produces an alternating current with a partial spin polarization. The second mechanism works by rotating the ring in a constant field; like the former case, it produces an alternating charge current but the spin current is d.c.; both methods do not require a spin-orbit interaction to achieve the polarized current, but the rotating ring could be used to measure the spin-orbit interaction in the ring using characteristic oscillations. On the other hand, the last mechanism that we propose depends on the spin-orbit interaction in an essential way, and requires a time-dependent magnetic field in the plane of the ring. This arrangement can be designed to pump a purely spin current. The absence of a charge current is demonstrated analytically. Moreover, a simple formula for the current is derived and compared to the numerical results.

Thermodynamic curvature for a two-parameter spin model with frustration

Microscopic models of realistic thermodynamic systems usually involve a number of parameters, not all of equal macroscopic relevance. We examine a decorated $(1+3)$ Ising spin chain containing two microscopic parameters: a "stiff" $K$ mediating the long-range interactions, and a "sloppy" $J$ operating within local spin groups. $K$ dominates the macroscopic behavior, and varying $J$ has weak effect except in regions where $J$ brings about transitions between phases through its conditioning of the local spin groups with which $K$ interacts. We calculate the heat capacity $C_H$, the magnetic susceptibility $χ_T$, and the thermodynamic curvature $R$. For large $|J/K|$, we identify four magnetic phases: ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic, and two ferrimagnetic ones, according to the signs of $K$ and $J$. We argue that for characterizing these phases, the strongest picture is offered by the thermodynamic geometric invariant $R$, proportional to the correlation length $ξ$. This picture has correspondences to other cases, such as fluids.

Correlation functions in one-dimensional spin lattices with Ising and Heisenberg bonds

A general technique of exact calculation of any correlation functions for the special class of one-dimensional spin models containing small clusters of quantum spins assembled to a chain by alternating with the single Ising spins is proposed. The technique is a natural generalization of that in the models solved by a classical transfer matrix. The general expressions for corresponding matrix operators which are the key components of the technique are obtained. As it is clear from the general principles, the decay of the correlation functions of various types is explicitly shown to be governed by a single correlation length. The technique is illustrated by two examples: symmetric diamond chain and asymmetric sawtooth chain.

Magnetization Transfer by a Quantum Ring Device

We show that a tight-binding model device consisting of a laterally connected ring at half filling in a tangent time-dependent magnetic field can in principle be designed to pump a purely spin current. The process exploits the spin-orbit interaction in the ring. This behavior is understood analytically and found to be robust with respect to temperature and small deviations from half filling.

The Coulomb problem on a 3-sphere and Heun polynomials

The paper studies the quantum mechanical Coulomb problem on a 3-sphere. We present a special parametrization of the ellipto-spheroidal coordinate system suitable for the separation of variables. After quantization we get the explicit form of the spectrum and present an algebraic equation for the eigenvalues of the Runge-Lentz vector. We also present the wave functions expressed via Heun polynomials.

Action-angle variables for the particle near extreme Kerr throat

We construct the action-angle variables for the spherical part of conformal mechanics describing the motion of a particle near extreme Kerr throat. We indicate the existence of the critical point $|p_φ|=mc R_{\rm Sch}$ (with $m$ being the mass of the particle, $c$ denoting the speed of light, $R_{\rm Sch}=2γM /c^2$ being the Schwarzschild radius of a black hole with mass $M$, and $γ$ denoting the gravitational constant), where these variables are expressed in terms of elementary functions. Away from this point the action-angle variables are defined by elliptic integrals. The proposed formulation allows one to easily reconstruct the whole dynamics of the particle both in initial coordinates, as well as in the so-called conformal basis, where the Hamiltonian takes the form of conventional non-relativistic conformal mechanics. The related issues, such as semiclassical quantization and supersymmetrization are also discussed.

Isospin particle systems on quaternionic projective spaces

We construct the isospin particle system on $n$-dimensional quaternionic projective spaces in the presence of BPST-instanton by the reduction from the free particle on $(2n+1)$-dimensional complex projective space. Then we add to this system a "quaternionic oscillator potential" and show, that this oscillator-like system is superintegrable. We show, that besides the analogs of quadratic constants of motion of the spherical (Higgs) and $\mathbb{C}P^n $- oscillators, it possesses the third-order constants of motion, which are functionally independent from the quadratic ones.

State-space Geometry, Statistical Fluctuations and Black Holes in String Theory

We study the state-space geometry of various extremal and nonextremal black holes in string theory. From the notion of the intrinsic geometry, we offer a new perspective of black hole vacuum fluctuations. For a given black hole entropy, we explicate the intrinsic state-space geometric meaning of the statistical fluctuations, local and global stability conditions and long range statistical correlations. We provide a set of physical motivations pertaining to the extremal and nonextremal black holes, \textit{viz.}, the meaning of the chemical geometry and physics of correlation. We illustrate the state-space configurations for general charge extremal black holes. In sequel, we extend our analysis for various possible charge and anticharge nonextremal black holes. From the perspective of statistical fluctuation theory, we offer general remarks, future directions and open issues towards the intrinsic geometric understanding of the vacuum fluctuations and black holes in string theory. External field influence on semiflexible macromolecules: geometric coupling

We suggested a geometric approach to address the external field influence on the DNA molecules, described by the WLC model via geometric coupling. It consists in the introduction of the effective metrics depending on the potential of the external field, with further re-definition of the arc-length parameter and of the extrinsic curvatures of the DNA molecules. It yields the nontrivial impact of the external field in the internal energy of macromolecules. We give the Hamiltonian formulation of this model and perform its preliminary analysis in the redefinition of the initial energy density.

N=4 chiral supermultiplet interacting with a magnetic field

We couple N=4 chiral supermultiplet with an auxiliary N=4 fermionic supermutiplet containing on-shell four physical fermions and four auxiliary bosons. The latter ones play the role of isospin variables. We choose the very specific coupling which results in a component action containing only time derivatives of fermionic components presented in the auxiliary supermultiplet, which therefore may be dualized into auxiliary ones. The resulting component action describes the interaction of the chiral supermultiplet with a magnetic field constant on the pseudo-sphere $SU(1,1)/U(1)$. Then we specify the prepotential of our theory to get, in the bosonic sector, the action for the particle moving over the pseudo-sphere -- Lobachevsky space. We provided also the Hamiltonian formulation of this system and show that the full symmetry group of our system is $SU(1,1)\times U(1)$. The currents forming the $su(1,1)$ algebra are modified, as compared to the bosonic case, by the fermionic and isospin terms, while the additional u(1) current contains only isospin variables. One of the most important features of our construction is the presence in the Hamiltonian and supercharges of all currents of the isospin group SU(2). Despite the fact that two of the su(2) currents ${T,{\bar{T}}}$ enter the Hamiltonian only through the Casimir operator of the SU(2) group, they cannot be dropped out, even after fixing the total isospin of the system, because these currents themselves enter into the supercharges. We also present the Hamiltonian and supercharges describing the motion of a particle over the sphere $S^2$ in the background of constant magnetic field. In this case the additional isospin currents form the $su(1,1)$ algebra.

On Intrinsic Geometric Stability of Controller

This work explores the role of the intrinsic fluctuations in finite parameter controller configurations characterizing an ensemble of arbitrary irregular filter circuits. Our analysis illustrates that the parametric intrinsic geometric description exhibits a set of exact pair correction functions and global correlation volume with and without the variation of the mismatch factor. The present consideration shows that the canonical fluctuations can precisely be depicted without any approximation. The intrinsic geometric notion offers a clear picture of the fluctuating controllers, which as the limit of the ensemble averaging reduce to the specified controller. For the constant mismatch factor controllers, the Gaussian fluctuations over equilibrium basis accomplish a well-defined, non-degenerate, flat regular intrinsic Riemannian surface. An explicit computation further demonstrates that the underlying power correlations involve ordinary summations, even if we consider the variable mismatch factor controllers. Our intrinsic geometric framework describes a definite character to the canonical power fluctuations of the controllers and constitutes a stable design strategy for the parameters.

State-space geometry, non-extremal black holes and Kaluza-Klein monopoles

We examine the statistical nature of the charged anticharged non-extremal black holes in string theory. From the perspective of the intrinsic Riemannian Geometry, the first principle of the statistical mechanics shows that the stability properties of general nonextremal nonlarge charged black brane solutions are divulged from the positivity of the corresponding principle minors of the space-state metric tensor. Under the addition of the Kaluza-Klein monopoles, a novel aspect of the Gaussian fluctuations demonstrates that the canonical fluctuations can be ascertained without any approximation. We offer the state-space geometric implication for the most general non-extremal black brane configurations in string theory.

Strong Interactions, (De)coherence and Quarkonia

Quarkonia are the central objects to explore the non-perturbative nature of non-abelian gauge theories. We describe the confinement-deconfinement phases for heavy quarkonia in a hot QCD medium and thereby the statistical nature of the inter-quark forces. In the sense of one-loop quantum effects, we propose that the "quantum" nature of quark matters follows directly from the thermodynamic consideration of Richardson potential. Thereby we gain an understanding of the formation of hot and dense states of quark gluon plasma matter in heavy ion collisions and the early universe. In the case of the non-abelian theory, the consideration of the Sudhakov form factor turns out to be an efficient tool for soft gluons. In the limit of the Block-Nordsieck resummation, the strong coupling obtained from the Sudhakov form factor yields the statistical nature of hadronic bound states, e.g. kaons and Ds particles.

SU(2) reductions in N=4 multidimensional supersymmetric mechanics

We perform an su(2) Hamiltonian reduction in the bosonic sector of the su(2)-invariant action for two free (4, 4, 0) supermultiplets. As a result, we get the five dimensional N=4 supersymmetric mechanics describing the motion of an isospin carrying particle interacting with a Yang monopole. We provide the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian descriptions of this system. Some possible generalizations of the action to the cases of systems with a more general bosonic action, a four-dimensional system which still includes eight fermionic components, and a variant of five-dimensional N=4 mechanics constructed with the help of the ordinary and twisted N=4 hypermultiplets were also considered.

Thermodynamic Geometry and Topological Einstein-Yang-Mills Black Holes

From the perspective of the statistical fluctuation theory, we explore the role of the thermodynamic geometries and vacuum (in)stability properties for the topological Einstein-Yang-Mills black holes. In this paper, from the perspective of the state-space surface and chemical Wienhold surface, we provide the criteria for the local and global statistical stability of an ensemble of topological Einstein-Yang-Mills black holes in arbitrary spacetime dimensions $D\ge 5$. Finally, as per the formulations of the thermodynamic geometry, we offer a parametric account of the statistical consequences in both the local and global fluctuation regimes of the topological Einstein-Yang-Mills black holes.

A geometric approach to correlations and quark number susceptibilities

We study the thermodynamic geometry arising from the free energy for the 2- and 3-flavor finite temperature hot QCD near the critical temperature. We develop a geometric notion for QCD thermodynamics, relating it with the existing microscopic quantities, e.g. quark-number susceptibility, which appears naturally within an approximately self-consistent resummation of perturbative QCD. We further incorporate thermal fluctuations in the free energy, thus yielding the geometric properties of local and global chemical correlations. These investigations are perturbative in nature. Nevertheless, one could apply the same line of thought for the geometric realization of underlying quark susceptibilities, either in the fabric of lattice QCD or in that of non-perturbative QCD.

An Exact Fluctuating 1/2-BPS Configuration

This work explores the role of thermodynamic fluctuations in the two parameter giant and superstar configurations characterized by an ensemble of arbitrary liquid droplets or irregular shaped fuzzballs. Our analysis illustrates that the chemical and state-space geometric descriptions exhibit an intriguing set of exact pair correction functions and the global correlation lengths. The first principle of statistical mechanics shows that the possible canonical fluctuations may precisely be ascertained without any approximation. Interestingly, our intrinsic geometric study exemplifies that there exist exact fluctuating 1/2-BPS statistical configurations which involve an ensemble of microstates describing the liquid droplets or fuzzballs. The Gaussian fluctuations over an equilibrium chemical and state-space configurations accomplish a well-defined, non-degenerate, curved and regular intrinsic Riemannian manifolds for all physically admissible domains of black hole parameters. An explicit computation demonstrates that the underlying chemical correlations involve ordinary summations, whilst the state-space correlations may simply be depicted by standard polygamma functions. Our construction ascribes definite stability character to the canonical energy fluctuations and to the counting entropy associated with an arbitrary choice of excited boxes from an ensemble of ample boxes constituting a variety of Young tableaux.

Black Strings, Black Rings and State-space Manifold

State-space geometry is considered, for diverse three and four parameter non-spherical horizon rotating black brane configurations, in string theory and $M$-theory. We have explicitly examined the case of unit Kaluza-Klein momentum $D_1D_5P$ black strings, circular strings, small black rings and black supertubes. An investigation of the state-space pair correlation functions shows that there exist two classes of brane statistical configurations, {\it viz.}, the first category divulges a degenerate intrinsic equilibrium basis, while the second yields a non-degenerate, curved, intrinsic Riemannian geometry. Specifically, the solutions with finitely many branes expose that the two charged rotating $D_1D_5$ black strings and three charged rotating small black rings consort real degenerate state-space manifolds. Interestingly, arbitrary valued $M_5$-dipole charged rotating circular strings and Maldacena Strominger Witten black rings exhibit non-degenerate, positively curved, comprehensively regular state-space configurations. Furthermore, the state-space geometry of single bubbled rings admits a well-defined, positive definite, everywhere regular and curved intrinsic Riemannian manifold; except for the two finite values of conserved electric charge. We also discuss the implication and potential significance of this work for the physics of black holes in string theory.

Dual multiplets in N=4 superconformal mechanics

We propose Lagrangian formulations of a three-particles translation invariant $N=4$ superconformal mechanics based on the standard and twisted $(1,4,3)$ supermultiplets. We show that in the appropriate set of coordinates, in which the bosonic kinetic terms for each of the two cases take conformally-flat forms, the corresponding models produce just similar physical systems with the flipped angular part of bosonic potential $U(x)\rightarrow 1/U(x)$. This flipping looks so simple only being written in the "angle" variable, while in the standard variables it looks more complicated to preserve the superconformal symmetry. We demonstrate at both the superfield and the component level, how familiar $N=4$ supersymmetric 3-particles models, including $3-Calogero$, ${\it BC_2}$ and ${\it G_2}$ ones, can be constructed with twisted supermultiplets. We also present some new explicit examples of 3-dimensional superconformal mechanics.

Some possible generalizations of the action to the cases of systems with a more general bosonic action constructed with the help of the ordinary and twisted \Nf hypermultiplets are considered.

Geometric Design and Stability of Power Networks

From the perspective of the network theory, the present work illustrates how the parametric intrinsic geometric description exhibits an exact set of pair correction functions and global correlation volume with and without the inclusion of the imaginary power flow. The Gaussian fluctuations about the equilibrium basis accomplish a well-defined, non-degenerate, curved regular intrinsic Riemannian surfaces for the purely real and the purely imaginary power flows and their linear combinations. An explicit computation demonstrates that the underlying real and imaginary power correlations involve ordinary summations of the power factors, with and without their joint effects. Novel aspect of the intrinsic geometry constitutes a stable design for the power systems.

Lattice distortions in a sawtooth chain with Heisenberg and Ising bonds

An exactly solvable model of the sawtooth chain with Ising and Heisenberg bonds and with coupling to lattice distortion for Heisenberg bonds is considered in the magnetic field. Using the direct transfer-matrix formalism an exact description of the thermodynamic functions is obtained. The ground state phase diagrams for all regions of parameters values containing phases corresponding to the magnetization plateaus at $M=0,1/4$ and 1/2 have been obtained. Exact formulas for bond distortions for various ground states are presented. A novel mechanism of magnetization plateau stabilization corresponding to $M=1/4$ state is reported.

On Real Intrinsic Wall Crossings

We study moduli space stabilization of a class of BPS configurations from the perspective of the real intrinsic Riemannian geometry. Our analysis exhibits a set of implications towards the stability of the D-term potentials, defined for a set of abelian scalar fields. In particular, we show that the nature of marginal and threshold walls of stabilities may be investigated by real geometric methods. Interestingly, we find that the leading order contributions may easily be accomplished by translations of the Fayet parameter. Specifically, we notice that the various possible linear, planar, hyper-planar and the entire moduli space stabilities may easily be reduced to certain polynomials in the Fayet parameter. For a set of finitely many real scalar fields, it may be further inferred that the intrinsic scalar curvature defines the global nature and range of vacuum correlations. Whereas, the underlying moduli space configuration corresponds to a non-interacting basis at the zeros of the scalar curvature, where the scalar fields become un-correlated. The divergences of the scalar curvature provide possible phase structures, viz., wall of stability, phase transition, if any, in the chosen moduli configuration. The present analysis opens up a new avenue towards the stabilizations of gauge and string moduli.

On the Thermodynamic Geometry of Hot QCD

We study the nature of the covariant thermodynamic geometry arising from the free energy of hot QCD. We systematically analyze the underlying equilibrium thermodynamic configurations of the free energy of 2- and 3-flavor hot QCD with or without including thermal fluctuations in the neighborhood of the QCD transition temperature. We show that there exists a well-defined thermodynamic geometric notion for QCD thermodynamics. The geometry thus obtained has no singularity as an intrinsic Riemannian manifold. We further show that there is a close connection of this geometric approach with the existing studies of correlations and quark number susceptibilities in hot QCD.

Quantum ring models and action-angle variables

We suggest to use the action-angle variables for the study of properties of (quasi)particles in quantum rings. For this purpose we present the action-angle variables for three two-dimensional singular oscillator systems. The first one is the usual (Euclidean) singular oscillator, which plays the role of the confinement potential for the quantum ring. We also propose two singular spherical oscillator models for the role of the confinement system for the spherical ring. The first one is based on the standard Higgs oscillator potential. We show that, in spite of the presence of a hidden symmetry, it is not convenient for the study of the system's behaviour in a magnetic field. The second model is based on the so-called CP(1) oscillator potential and respects the inclusion of a constant magnetic field.

Scalar Moduli, Wall Crossing and Phenomenological Predictions

We present the scalar moduli stabilization from the perspective of the real intrinsic geometry. In this paper, we describe the physical nature of the vacuum moduli fluctuations of an arbitrary Fayet configuration. For finitely many abelian scalar fields, we show that the framework of the real intrinsic geometry investigates the mixing between the marginal and threshold vacua. Interestingly, we find that the phenomena of wall crossing and the search of the stable vacuum configurations, pertaining to $D$-term and $F$-term scalar moduli, can be accomplished for the abelian charges. For given vacuum expectation values of the moduli scalars, we provide phenomenological aspects of the vacuum fluctuations and phase transitions in the supersymmetry breaking configurations.

State-space Manifold and Rotating Black Holes

We study a class of fluctuating higher dimensional black hole configurations obtained in string theory/ $M$-theory compactifications. We explore the intrinsic Riemannian geometric nature of Gaussian fluctuations arising from the Hessian of the coarse graining entropy, defined over an ensemble of brane microstates. It has been shown that the state-space geometry spanned by the set of invariant parameters is non-degenerate, regular and has a negative scalar curvature for the rotating Myers-Perry black holes, Kaluza-Klein black holes, supersymmetric $AdS_5$ black holes, $D_1$-$D_5$ configurations and the associated BMPV black holes. Interestingly, these solutions demonstrate that the principal components of the state-space metric tensor admit a positive definite form, while the off diagonal components do not. Furthermore, the ratio of diagonal components weakens relatively faster than the off diagonal components, and thus they swiftly come into an equilibrium statistical configuration. Novel aspects of the scaling property suggest that the brane-brane statistical pair correlation functions divulge an asymmetric nature, in comparison with the others. This approach indicates that all above configurations are effectively attractive and stable, on an arbitrary hyper-surface of the state-space manifolds. It is nevertheless noticed that there exists an intriguing relationship between non-ideal inter-brane statistical interactions and phase transitions. The ramifications thus described are consistent with the existing picture of the microscopic CFTs. We conclude with an extended discussion of the implications of this work for the physics of black holes in string theory.

Thermodynamic Geometric Stability of Quarkonia states

We compute exact thermodynamic geometric properties of the non-abelian quarkonium bound states from the consideration of one-loop strong coupling. From the general statistical principle, the intrinsic geometric nature of strongly coupled QCD is analyzed for the Columbic, rising and Regge rotating regimes. Without any approximation, we have obtained the non-linear mass effect for the Bloch-Nordsieck rotating strongly coupled quarkonia. For a range of physical parameters, we show in each cases that there exists a well-defined, non-degenerate, curved, intrinsic Riemannian manifold. As the gluons become softer and softer, we find in the limit of the Bloch-Nordsieck resummation that the strong coupling obtained from the Sudhakov form factor possesses exact local and global thermodynamic properties of the underlying mesons, kaons and $D_s$ particles.

Topics in Cubic Special Geometry

We reconsider the sub-leading quantum perturbative corrections to N=2 cubic special Kaehler geometries. Imposing the invariance under axion-shifts, all such corrections (but the imaginary constant one) can be introduced or removed through suitable, lower unitriangular symplectic transformations, dubbed Peccei-Quinn (PQ) transformations. Since PQ transformations do not belong to the d=4 U-duality group G4, in symmetric cases they generally have a non-trivial action on the unique quartic invariant polynomial I4 of the charge representation R of G4. This leads to interesting phenomena in relation to theory of extremal black hole attractors; namely, the possibility to make transitions between different charge orbits of R, with corresponding change of the supersymmetry properties of the supported attractor solutions. Furthermore, a suitable action of PQ transformations can also set I4 to zero, or vice versa it can generate a non-vanishing I4: this corresponds to transitions between "large" and "small" charge orbits, which we classify in some detail within the "special coordinates" symplectic frame. Finally, after a brief account of the action of PQ transformations on the recently established correspondence between Cayley's hyperdeterminant and elliptic curves, we derive an equivalent, alternative expression of I4, with relevant application to black hole entropy.

Bouncing transient currents and SQUID-like voltage in nano devices at half filling

Nanorings asymmetrically connected to wires show different kinds of quantum interference phenomena under sudden excitations and in steady current conditions. Here we contrast the transient current caused by an abrupt bias to the magnetic effects at constant current. A repulsive impurity can cause charge build-up in one of the arms and reverse current spikes. Moreover, it can cause transitions from laminar current flow to vortices, and also change the chirality of the vortex. The magnetic behavior of these devices is also very peculiar. Those nano-circuits which consist of an odd number of atoms behave in a fundamentally different manner compared to those which consist of an even number of atoms. The circuits having an odd number of sites connected to long enough symmetric wires are diamagnetic; they display half-fluxon periodicity induced by many-body symmetry even in the absence of electron-phonon and electron-electron interactions. In principle one can operate a new kind of quantum interference device without superconductors. Since there is no gap and no critical temperature, one predicts qualitatively the same behavior at and above room temperature, although with a reduced current. The circuits with even site numbers, on the other hand, are paramagnetic.

Potentials in N=4 superconformal mechanics

Proceeding from nonlinear realizations of (super)conformal symmetries, we explicitly demonstrate that adding the harmonic oscillator potential to the action of conformal mechanics does not break these symmetries but modifies the transformation properties of the (super)fields. We also analyze the possibility to introduce potentials in N=4 supersymmetric mechanics by coupling it with auxiliary fermionic superfields. The new coupling we considered does not introduce new fermionic degrees of freedom - all our additional fermions are purely auxiliary ones. The new bosonic components have a first order kinetic term and therefore they serve as spin degrees of freedom. The resulting system contains, besides the potential term in the bosonic sector, a non-trivial spin-like interaction in the fermionic sector. The superconformal mechanics we constructed in this paper is invariant under the full $D(2,1;α)$ superconformal group. This invariance is not evident and is achieved within modified (super)conformal transformations of the superfields.

We present the whole set of its constants of motions, including the hidden symmetry generators given by the analog of Runge-Lenz vector. The state-space pair correlation functions and notion of stability of extremal and non-extremal black holes in string theory and M-theory are considered from the viewpoints of thermodynamic Ruppeiner geometry. From the perspective of intrinsic Riemannian geometry, the stability properties of these black branes are divulged from the positivity of principle minors of the space-state metric tensor. We have explicitly analyzed the state-space configurations for (i) the two and three charge extremal black holes, (ii) the four and six charge non-extremal black branes, which both arise from the string theory solutions. An extension is considered for the $D_6$-$D_4$-$D_2$-$D_0$ multi-centered black branes, fractional small black branes and two charge rotating fuzzy rings in the setup of Mathur's fuzzball configurations. The state-space pair correlations and nature of stabilities have been investigated for three charged bubbling black brane foams, and thereby the M-theory solutions are brought into the present consideration. In the case of extremal black brane configurations, we have pointed out that the ratio of diagonal space-state correlations varies as inverse square of the chosen parameters, while the off diagonal components vary as inverse of the chosen parameters. We discuss the significance of this observation for the non-extremal black brane configurations, and find similar conclusion that the state-space correlations extenuate as the chosen parameters are increased.

Three dimensional N=4 supersymmetric mechanics with Wu-Yang monopole

We propose Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations of a N=4 supersymmetric three-dimensional isospin-carrying particle moving in the non-Abelian field of a Wu-Yang monopole and in some specific scalar potential. This additional potential is completely fixed by N=4 supersymmetry and in the simplest case of flat metrics it coincides with that which provides the existence of the Runge-Lenz vector for the bosonic subsector. The isospin degrees of freedom are described on the Lagrangian level by bosonic auxiliary variables forming N=4 supermultiplet with additional, also auxiliary fermions. Being quite general, the constructed systems include such interesting cases as N=4 superconformally invariant systems with Wu-Yang monopole, the particles living in the flat R^3 and in the R x S^2 spaces and interacting with the monopole, and also the particles moving on three-dimensional sphere and pseudo-sphere with Wu-Yang monopole sitting in the center. The superfield Lagrangian description of these systems is so simple that one could wonder to see how all couplings and the proper coefficients arise while passing to the component action.

On the Microscopic Perspective of Black Branes Thermodynamic Geometry

In this article we study correspondence between the microscopic spectrum and macroscopic properties of a class of extremal and non-extremal black branes and outline an origin of the interactions among various microstates of a given black brane configuration from the perspective of an intrinsic Riemannian geometry arising from the coarse graining entropy over a large number of microstates. We have analyzed the state-space geometry in the case of various extremal and non-extremal black branes arising from the string theories, multi-centered black brane configurations, small black holes with fractional branes, fuzzy rings in the set up of Mathur's fuzzballs and subensemble theory, as well as that the black brane foams from the considerations of bubbling black brane solutions in the M-theory. We have further shown that there exists a clear mechanism on the black brane side that describes the notion of associated interactions in the state-space or vice-versa. We thus find that in all such cases there are no singularities in the state-space manifold of these black brane configurations. This observation is in turn consistent with the existing picture of corresponding microscopic CFT data.

(Super)Oscillator on CP(N) and Constant Magnetic Field

We define the "maximally integrable" isotropic oscillator on CP(N) and discuss its various properties, in particular, the behaviour of the system with respect to a constant magnetic field. We show that the properties of the oscillator on CP(N) qualitatively differ in the N>1 and N=1 cases. In the former case we construct the ``axially symmetric'' system which is locally equivalent to the oscillator. We perform the Kustaanheimo-Stiefel transformation of the oscillator on CP(2) and construct some generalized MIC-Kepler problem. We also define a N=2 superextension of the oscillator on CP(N) and show that for N>1 the inclusion of a constant magnetic field preserves the supersymmetry of the system.

Four-dimensional Hall mechanics as a particle on $\DC P^3$

In order to establish an explicit connection between four-dimensional Hall effect on $S^4$ and six-dimensional Hall effect on $\DC P^3$, we perform the Hamiltonian reduction of a particle moving on $\DC P^3$ in a constant magnetic field to the four-dimensional Hall mechanics (i.e. a particle on $S^4$ in a SU(2) instanton field). This reduction corresponds to fixing the isospin of the latter system.

Two phases of the noncommutative quantum mechanics

We consider quantum mechanics on the noncommutative plane in the presence of magnetic field $B$. We show, that the model has two essentially different phases separated by the point $Bθ=c\hbar^2/e$, where $θ$ is a parameter of noncommutativity. In this point the system reduces to exactly-solvable one-dimensional system. When $κ=1-eBθ/c\hbar^2<0$ there is a finite number of states corresponding to the given value of the angular momentum. In another phase, i.e. when $κ>0$ the number of states is infinite. The perturbative spectrum near the critical point $κ=0$ is computed.

Multi-Field Coset Space Realizations of $w_{1+\infty}$

We extend the coset space formulation of the one-field realization of $w_{1+\infty}$ to include more fields as the coset parameters. This can be done either by choosing a smaller stability subalgebra in the nonlinear realization of $w_{1+\infty}$ symmetry, or by considering a nonlinear realization of some extended symmetry, or by combining both options. We show that all these possibilities give rise to the multi-field realizations of $w_{1+\infty}$. We deduce the two-field realization of $w_{1+\infty}$ proceeding from a coset space of the symmetry group $\tilde{G}$ which is an extension of $w_{1+\infty}$ by the second self-commuting set of higher spin currents. Next, starting with the unextended $w_{1+\infty}$ but placing all its spin 2 generators into the coset, we obtain a new two-field realization of $w_{1+\infty}$ which essentially involves a $2D$ dilaton. In order to construct the invariant action for this system we add one more field and so get a new three-field realization of $w_{1+\infty}$. We re-derive it within the coset space approach, by applying the latter to an extended symmetry group $\hat{G}$ which is a nonlinear deformation of $\tilde{G}$. Finally we present some multi-field generalizations of our three-field realization and discuss several intriguing parallels with $N=2$ strings and conformal affine Toda theories.
