Higher spin representations of the Yangian of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ and R-matrices

We study higher spin (pure and mixed spin) representations of the Yangian of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. We provide a geometric realization in terms of the critical cohomology of representations of the quiver with potential of Bykov and Zinn-Justin [BZJ20]. When the framing dimension is 1, it recovers the evaluation pullback of the $\ell+1$-dimensional irreducible representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. We introduce the lattice model and prove that its partition function coincides with the weight function constructed using the framed shuffle formula. The latter follows the approach of Rimányi, Tarasov and Varchenko [RTV15].

Squeezed driving induced entanglement and squeezing among cavity modes and magnon mode in a magnon-cavity QED system

We propose a scheme to generate entanglement between two cavity modes and squeeze magnon mode in a magnon-cavity QED system, where the two microwave cavity modes are coupled with a massive yttrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere through magnetic dipole interaction. The nonlinearity used in our system originates from a squeezed driving via parametric down-conversion process, which is the reason to cause entanglement and squeezing. By using the mean field approximation and employing experimentally feasible parameters, we demonstrate that the system shows zero entanglement and squeezing without squeezed driving. Meanwhile, our QED system denotes that the entanglement between squeezed cavity mode and magnon mode can be transferred to the other cavity mode and magnon mode via magnon-cavity coupling interaction, and then the two cavity modes get entangled. A genuinely tripartite entangled state is formed. We also show that magnon mode can be prepared in a squeezed state via magnon-cavity beam-splitter interaction, which is as a result of the squeezed field. Moreover, we show that it is a good way to enhance entanglement and squeezing by increasing the nonlinear gain coefficient of squeezed driving. Our results denote that magnon-cavity QED system is a powerful platform for studying macroscopic quantum phenomena, which illustrates a new method to photon-photon entanglement and magnon squeezing.

Squeezed light generated with hyperradiance without nonlinearity

We propose that the squeezed light accompanied by hyperradiance is induced by quantum interference in a linear system consisting of a high quality optical cavity and two coherently driven two-level qubits. When two qubits are placed at the crest and trough of the standing wave in the cavity respectively (i.e., they have the opposite coupling coefficient to the cavity), we show that squeezed light is generated in the hyperradiance regime under the conditions of strong coupling and weak driving. Simultaneously, the Klyshko's criterion alternates up and down at unity when the photon number is even or odd. Moreover, the orthogonal angles of the squeezed light can be controlled by adjusting the frequency detuning pressure between the driving field and the qubits. It can be implemented in a variety of quantum systems, including but not limited to two-level systems such as atoms, quantum dots in single-mode cavities.

The cohomological Hall algebras of a preprojective algebra with symmetrizer

This paper aims at a geometric realization of the Yangian of non-simply laced type in terms of quiver with potentials. For every quiver with symmetrizer, there is an extended quiver with superpotential, whose Jacobian algebra is the generalized preprojective algebra of Geiß, Leclerc, and Schröer arXiv:1410.1403. We study the cohomological Hall algebra of Kontsevich and Soibelman associated to this quiver with potential. In particular, we prove a dimensional reduction result, and provide a shuffle formula of this cohomological Hall algebra. In the case when the quiver with symmetrizer comes from a symmetrizable Cartan matrix, we prove that this shuffle algebra satisfies the relations of the Yangian associated to this Cartan matrix.

Cohomological Hall algebras, vertex algebras and instantons

We define an action of the (double of) Cohomological Hall algebra of Kontsevich and Soibelman on the cohomology of the moduli space of spiked instantons of Nekrasov. We identify this action with the one of the affine Yangian of $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$. Based on that we derive the vertex algebra at the corner $\mathcal{W}_{r_1,r_2,r_3}$ of Gaiotto and Rapcak. We conjecture that our approach works for a big class of Calabi-Yau categories, including those associated with toric Calabi-Yau $3$-folds.

Electronic phase separation in topological surface states of rhombohedral graphite

Of the two stable forms of graphite, hexagonal (HG) and rhombohedral (RG), the former is more common and has been studied extensively. RG is less stable, which so far precluded its detailed investigation, despite many theoretical predictions about the abundance of exotic interaction-induced physics. Advances in van der Waals heterostructure technology have now allowed us to make high-quality RG films up to 50 graphene layers thick and study their transport properties. We find that the bulk electronic states in such RG are gapped and, at low temperatures, electron transport is dominated by surface states. Because of topological protection, the surface states are robust and of high quality, allowing the observation of the quantum Hall effect, where RG exhibits phase transitions between gapless semimetallic phase and gapped quantum spin Hall phase with giant Berry curvature. An energy gap can also be opened in the surface states by breaking their inversion symmetry via applying a perpendicular electric field. Moreover, in RG films thinner than 4 nm, a gap is present even without an external electric field. This spontaneous gap opening shows pronounced hysteresis and other signatures characteristic of electronic phase separation, which we attribute to emergence of strongly-correlated electronic surface states.

Squeezed light induced symmetry breaking superradiant phase transition

We theoretically investigate the quantum phase transition in the collective systems of qubits in a high-quality cavity, which is driven by a squeezed light. We show that the squeezed light induced symmetry breaking can result in quantum phase transition without the ultrastrong coupling requirement. Using the standard mean field theory, we derive the condition of the quantum phase transition. Surprisingly, we show that there exists a tricritical point where the first- and second-order phase transitions meet. With specific atom-cavity coupling strengths, both the first- and second-order phase transition can be controlled by the squeezed light, leading to an optical switching from the normal phase to the superradiant phase by just increasing the squeezed light intensity. The signature of these phase transitions can be observed by detecting the phase space Wigner function distribution with different profiles controlled by the squeezed light intensity. Such superradiant phase transition can be implemented in various quantum systems, including atoms, quantum dots and ions in optical cavities as well as the circuit quantum electrodynamics system.

On two cohomological Hall algebras

We compare two cohomological Hall algebras (CoHA). The first one is the preprojective CoHA introduced by the authors in arXiv:1407.7994 associated to each quiver Q, and each algebraic oriented cohomology theory A. It is defined as the A-homology of the moduli of representations of the preprojective algebra of Q, generalizing the K-theoretic Hall algebra of commuting varieties of Schiffmann-Vasserot. The other one is the critical CoHA defined by Kontsevich-Soibelman associated to each quiver with potentials. It is defined using the equivariant cohomology with compact support with coefficients in the sheaf of vanishing cycles. In the present paper, we show that the critical CoHA, for the quiver with potential of Ginzburg, is isomorphic to the preprojective CoHA as algebras. As applications, we obtain an algebra homomorphism from the positive part of the Yangian to the critical CoHA.

Algebraic elliptic cohomology theory and flops, I

We define the algebraic elliptic cohomology theory coming from Krichever's elliptic genus as an oriented cohomology theory on smooth varieties over an arbitrary perfect field. We show that in the algebraic cobordism ring with rational coefficients, the ideal generated by differences of classical flops coincides with the kernel of Krichever's elliptic genus. This generalizes a theorem of B. Totaro in the complex analytic setting.

On deformed double current algebras for simple Lie algebras

We prove the equivalence of two presentations of deformed double current algebras associated to a complex simple Lie algebra, the first one obtained via a degeneration of affine Yangians while the other one naturally appeared in the construction of the elliptic Casimir connection. We also construct a specific central element of these algebras and, in type A, show that they contain a very large center for certain values of their parameters.

Homological finiteness of abelian covers

We present a method for deciding when a regular abelian cover of a finite CW-complex has finite Betti numbers. To start with, we describe a natural parameter space for all regular covers of a finite CW-complex X, with group of deck transformations a fixed abelian group A, which in the case of free abelian covers of rank r coincides with the Grassmanian of r-planes in H^1(X,\Q). Inside this parameter space, there is a subset Ω_A^i(X) consisting of all the covers with finite Betti numbers up to degree i. Building on work of Dwyer and Fried, we show how to compute these sets in terms of the jump loci for homology with coefficients in rank 1 local systems on X. For certain spaces, such as smooth, quasi-projective varieties, the generalized Dwyer-Fried invariants that we introduce here can be computed in terms of intersections of algebraic subtori in the character group. For many spaces of interest, the homological finiteness of abelian covers can be tested through the corresponding free abelian covers. Yet in general, abelian covers exhibit different homological finiteness properties than their free abelian counterparts.
