A Robustly Optimized Long Text to Math Models for Numerical Reasoning On FinQA

Numerical reasoning is required when solving most problems in our life, but it has been neglected in previous artificial intelligence researches. FinQA challenge has been organized to strengthen the study on numerical reasoning where the participants are asked to predict the numerical reasoning program to solve financial question. The result of FinQA will be evaluated by both execution accuracy and program accuracy. In this paper, we present our approach to tackle the task objective by developing models with different specialized capabilities and fusing their strength. Overall, our approach achieves the 1st place in FinQA challenge, with 71.93% execution accuracy and 67.03% program accuracy.

Distinguishing (Dirac or Majorana) neutrinos in purely leptonic decays of leptons

We investigate purely leptonic decays of leptons $ł^{\prime-}\to l^-\barν_lν_{l^{\prime}}$ to distinguish Dirac or Majorana neutrinos. We derive the differences of the decay width (and associated quantities) between the two neutrino hypotheses by the effect of identical particles. Evidence from experimental data makes the hypothesis of Majorana neutrinos very unlikely and our results strongly favor the hypothesis of Dirac neutrinos (in the standard three-neutrino theory). Moreover, our exploration for decay widths can be extended to the polarization angles of leptons, which will inspire new information for experimental and theoretical studies.

Modeling Price Elasticity for Occupancy Prediction in Hotel Dynamic Pricing

Demand estimation plays an important role in dynamic pricing where the optimal price can be obtained via maximizing the revenue based on the demand curve. In online hotel booking platform, the demand or occupancy of rooms varies across room-types and changes over time, and thus it is challenging to get an accurate occupancy estimate. In this paper, we propose a novel hotel demand function that explicitly models the price elasticity of demand for occupancy prediction, and design a price elasticity prediction model to learn the dynamic price elasticity coefficient from a variety of affecting factors. Our model is composed of carefully designed elasticity learning modules to alleviate the endogeneity problem, and trained in a multi-task framework to tackle the data sparseness. We conduct comprehensive experiments on real-world datasets and validate the superiority of our method over the state-of-the-art baselines for both occupancy prediction and dynamic pricing.

Study of the $D_s^+\to a_0(980) ρ$ and $a_0(980) ω$ decays

We study $D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{0(+)}a^{+(0)}_{0}$, $D_{s}^{+}\toωa^{+}_{0}$, and the resonant $D_{s}^{+}\toρa_0$,$a_{0}\to ηπ(KK)$ decays. In the final state interaction, where $D_s^+\to (η^{(\prime)}π^+,K^+\bar K^0)$ are followed by the $(η^{(\prime)}π^+,K^+\bar K^0)$ to $ρ^{0(+)}a^{+(0)}_{0}$ rescatterings, we predict ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{0(+)}a^{+(0)}_{0})=(3.0\pm 0.3\pm 1.0)\times 10^{-3}$. Due to the cancellation of the rescattering effects and the suppressed short-distance $W$ annihilation contribution, we expect that ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toωa^{+}_{0}) \simeq {\cal B}(D_s^+\toπ^+π^0)<3.4\times 10^{-4}$. In our calculation, ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{0}(a^{+}_{0}\to)ηπ^{+}) =(1.6^{+0.2}_{-0.3}\pm 0.6)\times 10^{-3}$ agrees with the data, whereas ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{+}(a^{0}_{0}\to)K^+K^-)$ is 10 times smaller than the observation, which requires a careful examination.

A diagrammatic analysis of two-body charmed baryon decays with flavor symmetry

We study the two-body anti-triplet charmed baryon decays based on the diagrammatic approach with $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry. We extract the two $W$-exchange effects as $E_{\bf B}$ and $E^\prime$ that contribute to the $Λ_c^+ \to Ξ^0 K^+$ decay, together with the relative phases, where $E_{\bf B}$ gives the main contribution. Besides, we find that ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+\to pπ^0)=(0.8 ^{+0.9}_{-0.8})\times 10^{-4}$, which is within the experimental upper bound. Particularly, we obtain ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+\toΞ^{0} π^{+})=(9.3 \pm 3.6)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0\to Ξ^-π^+,Λ^0\bar K^0)=(19.3 \pm 2.8,8.3 \pm 5.0)\times 10^{-2}$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0\to Ξ^- K^+)=(5.6 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{-4}$, which all agree with the data. For the singly Cabibbo suppressed $Λ_c^+$ decays, we predict that ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to n π^{+},p η^\prime,Σ^{+} K^{0}) =(7.7\pm 2.0,7.1 \pm 1.4,19.1 \pm 4.8)\times 10^{-4}$, which are accessible to the experiments at BESIII, BELLEII and LHCb.

Radio Frequency Magnet-free Circulators Based on Spatiotemporal Modulation of Surface Acoustic Wave Filters

In this paper, a new generation of magnet-free circulators with high performance is proposed. Circulators are crucial devices in modern communication systems due to their ability to enable full-duplexing and double the spectral efficiency directly in the physical layer of the radio-frequency (RF) front-end. Traditionally, Lorentz reciprocity is broken by applying magnetic bias to ferrite materials, therefore conventional circulators are bulky and expensive. In this paper, this problem is addressed by replacing the magnetic bias with periodic spatiotemporal modulation. Compared to previous works, the proposed circulator is constructed using surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters instead of transmission lines (TL), which reduces the modulation frequency by at least a factor of 20 and ensures ultra-low power consumption and high linearity. The miniaturized high quality (Q) factor SAW filters also lead to a low-loss non-reciprocal band with strong isolation (IX) and broad bandwidth (BW) on a chip scale, therefore addressing such limitations in previous magnet-free demonstrations. Furthermore, compared to the conventional differential circuit configuration, a novel quad configuration is developed, which doubles the intermodulation-free bandwidth.

Roles of scalar mesons in charmless $Λ_b$ decays

We first study the charmless two-body $Λ_b$ decays with the scalar mesons as the final states and predict that ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λf_0(980,1500))=(2.9\pm 0.7,12.4\pm 3.8)\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to p K^{*-}_0(800,1430))=(1.9\pm 0.5,14.1\pm 4.5)\times 10^{-6}$. With the resonant $f_0(980,1500)\to (π^+π^-,K^+K^-)$ and $K^{*-}_0\to \bar K^0 π^-$ decays, we then obtain ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λ(π^+π^-,K^+K^-))=(4.2\pm 1.0,3.5\pm0.7)\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to p\bar K^0 π^-)=(10.4\pm2.9)\times 10^{-6}$, in comparison with the data of $(4.6\pm 1.9,15.9\pm2.6)\times 10^{-6}$ and $(12.6\pm 4.0)\times 10^{-6}$ from LHCb, respectively. Our results for $Λ_b\to Λπ^+π^-$ and $Λ_b\to p\bar K^0 π^-$ would be regarded as the first evidences of the scalar meson productions in the anti-triplet $b$-baryon decays. The smaller predicted value of ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to ΛK^+K^-)$ indicates the existences of other resonant contributions to the decay, such as $Λ_b\to K^-(N^{*+}\to)ΛK^+$.

Study of $Λ_b\to Λ(ϕ,η^{(\prime)})$ and $Λ_b\to ΛK^+K^-$ decays

We study the charmless two-body $Λ_b\to Λ(ϕ,η^{(\prime)})$ and three-body $Λ_b\to ΛK^+K^- $ decays. We obtain ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λϕ)=(3.53\pm 0.24)\times 10^{-6}$ to agree with the recent LHCb measurement. However, we find that ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λ(ϕ\to)K^+ K^-)=(1.71\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-6}$ is unable to explain the LHCb observation of ${\cal B}(Λ_b\toΛK^+ K^-)=(15.9\pm 1.2\pm 1.2\pm 2.0)\times 10^{-6}$, which implies the possibility for other contributions, such as that from the resonant $Λ_b\to K^- N^*,\,N^*\toΛK^+$ decay with $N^*$ as a higher-wave baryon state. For $Λ_b\to Λη^{(\prime)}$, we show that ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λη,\,Λη^\prime)= (1.47\pm 0.35,1.83\pm 0.58)\times 10^{-6}$, which are consistent with the current data of $(9.3^{+7.3}_{-5.3},<3.1)\times 10^{-6}$, respectively. Our results also support the relation of ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λη) \simeq {\cal B}(Λ_b\toΛη^\prime)$, given by the previous study.

Constraints on the septet-doublet mixing models from oblique parameters

The limitations of the doublet-septet mixing models by the deviations of electroweak oblique parameters $ΔS$ and $ΔT$ are studied. In the minimal model, the mixture of the septet $η$ and the scalar doublet in the standard model (SM) is driven by a non-Hermitian dimension-7 operator. For a smaller bare mass of the septet, $ΔS$ gives a stringent constraint on the mixing angle $\sinβ$ between the CP-odd neutral parts of the SM Higgs doublet and $η$. In general, increasing the mass of the scalar septet $M_η$ will enhance the deviation of $T$ from the SM, whereas it decreases the magnitude of $ΔS$ for a larger bare mass within the range $M_η\lesssim 400\,{\rm GeV}$. We also examine two extended models from the ordinary doublet-septet mixture pattern. One of them is based on a inert doublet-septet mixing pattern, in which there is no vacuum expectation value for the neutral component of $η$, and a stable dark matter could naturally exist. For a benchmark point with this inner doublet mass of $M_χ=250{\rm}$ and $M_η=400\,{\rm GeV}$ in this model, the mixing coefficient is found to be less than $1.8$. The other extension is constructed by imposing a doubly charged scalar mixed with the doubly charged component of the septet. Apart from the contribution by the septet-doublet admixture, $ΔS$ is suppressed by a factor of $s_W^2$ and $ΔT$ has a significant constraint due to the vanishing vacuum polarization of $Z$ at the momentum transfer $p^2=0$.

Constraints on Natural Supersymmetry from Electroweak Precision Tests

The observed Higgs boson mass and the naturalness argument leave us a narrow window for the soft mass spectrum in natural supersymmetry that can be studied through the electroweak precision tests (EWPTs). We divide the analysis into the Higgs sector constrained by the charged Higgs mass bound, the neutralino-chargino sector constrained by the chargino mass bound, and the third-generation squark sector tightly constrained by the observed Higgs mass. Total contributions to EWPTs in the MSSM and NMSSM are both presented. It turns out that natural MSSM is excluded at 68\% CL but consistent at 95\% CL, whereas natural NMSSM with nearly degenerate conditions is excluded at 68\% CL but consistent at 99\% CL for $λ\leq 0.6$.

An oscillating motion of a red blood cell and a neutrally buoyant particle in Poiseuille flow in a narrow channel

Two motions of oscillation and vacillating breathing (swing) of a red blood cell have been observed in bounded Poiseuille flows (Phys. Rev. E 85, 16307 (2012)). To understand such motions, we have studied the oscillating motion of a neutrally buoyant rigid particle of the same shape in Poiseuille flow in a narrow channel and obtained that the crucial point is to have the particle interacting with Poiseuille flow with its mass center moving up and down in the channel central region. Since the mass center of the cell migrates toward the channel central region, its oscillating motion of the inclination angle is similar to the aforementioned motion as long as the cell keeps the shape of long body. But as the up-and-down oscillation of the cell mass center damps out, the oscillating motion of the inclination angle also damps out and the cell inclination angle approaches to a fixed angle.

Electroweak Precision Tests On the MSSM and NMSSM Constrained at the LHC

Following previous works regarding electroweak precision tests in supersymmetry, we continue to explore their implications to the MSSM and NMSSM both of which are tightly constrained by the Higgs mass and its decay experiments at the LHC. We adopt universal squark, slepton mass of three generations, and A-term of all SM fermions. We determine the flows of both MSSM and NMSSM in the $S$-$T$ plane with increasing $\tanβ$ and/or $γγ$ rate. Either increasing the value of $R_γ$ or $\tanβ$, we find that the benchmark points tend to be pushed outside the contour at 99% CL in the MSSM, however, conversely they tend to shrink towards to the SM reference point in the NMSSM. In particular, $\tanβ\gtrsim 50$ is excluded at 99% CL by the EWPTs for the MSSM due to this behavior. This behavior is also useful to distinguish the NMSSM from the MSSM. A byproduct is that the contributions coming from the neutralinos and charginos should be more suppressed in the MSSM in comparison with the NMSSM.

Oblique Corrections in the MSSM at One Loop. I. Scalars

This paper is devoted to reconsider the one-loop oblique corrections arising from the scalar superpartners in the MSSM, i.e, the squarks, the sleptons and the scalars in Higgs sector. We explicitly present the complete one-loop forms of self-energy corrections to the gauge bosons of SM electroweak gauge groups, as well as their descendants the $S$, $T$ and $U$ parameters, which can be directly applied to constrain the parameter space of the MSSM. Our results about one-loop self energies are found to agree with Drees, Hagiwara, and Yamada (1992), Pierce et al. (1997). Nevertheless, the $S$, $T$ and $U$ parameters aren't in agreement with Dobado, Herrero and Penaranda (1999).

Oblique Corrections in the MSSM at One Loop. II. Fermions

This paper is the completion of an earlier work arXiv:1207.4867 which involves the derivation of oblique corrections in the MSSM at one loop. In terms of the two-component spinor formalism, which is new in compared with those used in the literature, the contributions arising from the fermion superpartners i.e, neutralino-chargino sector to self-energy of standard model electroweak gauge bosons are calculated. Corresponding descendants the $S$, $T$ and $U$ parameters are presented. The validity of our results is examined in two ways, which are then followed by detailed analysis on the results in the literature.

A Simple Model of Direct Gauge Mediation

In the context of direct gauge mediation Wess-Zumino models are very attractive in supersymmetry model building. Besides the spontaneous supersymmetry and R-symmetry breaking, the problems of small gaugino mass as well as μ and Bμ terms should be solved so as to achieve a viable model. In this letter, we propose a simple model as an existence proof, in which all these subjects are realized simultaneously, with no need of fine tuning. This completion also implies that much of parameter space for direct gauge medition can be directly explored at LHC.

CSSF MIMO RADAR: Low-Complexity Compressive Sensing Based MIMO Radar That Uses Step Frequency

A new approach is proposed, namely CSSF MIMO radar, which applies the technique of step frequency (SF) to compressive sensing (CS) based multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar. The proposed approach enables high resolution range, angle and Doppler estimation, while transmitting narrowband pulses. The problem of joint angle-Doppler-range estimation is first formulated to fit the CS framework, i.e., as an L1 optimization problem. Direct solution of this problem entails high complexity as it employs a basis matrix whose construction requires discretization of the angle-Doppler-range space. Since high resolution requires fine space discretization, the complexity of joint range, angle and Doppler estimation can be prohibitively high. For the case of slowly moving targets, a technique is proposed that achieves significant complexity reduction by successively estimating angle-range and Doppler in a decoupled fashion and by employing initial estimates obtained via matched filtering to further reduce the space that needs to be digitized. Numerical results show that the combination of CS and SF results in a MIMO radar system that has superior resolution and requires far less data as compared to a system that uses a matched filter with SF.

Hadronic Production of the Doubly Heavy Baryon $Ξ_{bc}$ at LHC

We investigate the hadronic production of the doubly heavy baryon $Ξ_{bc}$ at the large hadron collider (LHC), where contributions from the four $(bc)$-diquark states $(bc)_{\bf\bar{3},6}[^1S_0]$ and $(bc)_{\bf\bar{3},6}[^3S_1]$ have been taken into consideration. Numerical results show that under the condition of $p_T>4$ GeV and $|y|<1.5$, sizable $Ξ_{bc}$ events about $ 1.7\times 10^7$ and $3.5\times10^9$ per year can be produced for the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{S}=7$ TeV and $\sqrt{S}=14$ TeV respectively. For experimental usage, the total and the interested differential cross-sections are estimated under some typical $p_T$- and $y$- cuts for the LHC detectors CMS, ATLAS and LHCb. Main uncertainties are discussed and a comparative study on the hadronic production of $Ξ_{cc}$, $Ξ_{bc}$ and $Ξ_{bb}$ at LHC are also presented.

Phenomenologies of Higgs messenger models

In this paper, we investigate the phenomenologies of models where the Higgs sector plays the role of messengers in gauge mediation. The minimal Higgs sector and its extension are considered respectively. We find that there exist viable models when an appropriate parity is imposed. Phenomenological features in these kind of models include three sum rules for scalar masses, light gluino as well as one-loop $μ$ and two-loop $Bμ$ terms.

A Comparative Study of $f_B$ within QCD Sum Rules with Two Typical Correlators up to Next-to-Leading Order

The B-decay constant $f_B$ is an important component for studying $B$-meson decays, which can be studied through QCD sum rules. We make a detailed discussion on $f_B$ from two sum rules, i.e. sum rules I and II, which are derived from the conventional correlator and the correlator with chiral currents respectively. It is found that these two sum rules are consistent with each other. However, the sum rules II has less uncertainty sources than that of sum rules I, and then it can be more accurate if we know the dimension-four gluon condensate well. It is found that $f_B$ decreases with the increment of $m_b$, and to compare with the Belle experimental data on $f_B$, both sum rules prefer smaller pole $b$-quark mass, $m_b=4.68\pm0.07$ GeV. By varying all the input parameters in their reasonable region and adding all the uncertainties together in quadrature, we obtain $f_B=172^{+23}_{-25}$ MeV for sum rules I and $f_B=214_{-34}^{+26}$ MeV for sum rules II.

Step-Frequency Radar with Compressive Sampling (SFR-CS)

Step-frequency radar (SFR) is a high resolution radar approach, where multiple pulses are transmitted at different frequencies, covering a wide spectrum. The obtained resolution directly depends on the total bandwidth used, or equivalently, the number of transmitted pulses. This paper proposes a novel SFR system, namely SFR with compressive sampling (SFRCS), that achieves the same resolution as a conventional SFR, while using significantly reduced bandwidth, or equivalently, transmitting significantly fewer pulses. This bandwidth reduction is accomplished by employing compressive sampling ideas and exploiting the sparseness of targets in the range velocity space.

Compressive Sensing for MIMO Radar

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems have been shown to achieve superior resolution as compared to traditional radar systems with the same number of transmit and receive antennas. This paper considers a distributed MIMO radar scenario, in which each transmit element is a node in a wireless network, and investigates the use of compressive sampling for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation. According to the theory of compressive sampling, a signal that is sparse in some domain can be recovered based on far fewer samples than required by the Nyquist sampling theorem. The DOA of targets form a sparse vector in the angle space, and therefore, compressive sampling can be applied for DOA estimation. The proposed approach achieves the superior resolution of MIMO radar with far fewer samples than other approaches. This is particularly useful in a distributed scenario, in which the results at each receive node need to be transmitted to a fusion center for further processing.

MIMO Radar Using Compressive Sampling

A MIMO radar system is proposed for obtaining angle and Doppler information on potential targets. Transmitters and receivers are nodes of a small scale wireless network and are assumed to be randomly scattered on a disk. The transmit nodes transmit uncorrelated waveforms. Each receive node applies compressive sampling to the received signal to obtain a small number of samples, which the node subsequently forwards to a fusion center. Assuming that the targets are sparsely located in the angle- Doppler space, based on the samples forwarded by the receive nodes the fusion center formulates an l1-optimization problem, the solution of which yields target angle and Doppler information. The proposed approach achieves the superior resolution of MIMO radar with far fewer samples than required by other approaches. This implies power savings during the communication phase between the receive nodes and the fusion center. Performance in the presence of a jammer is analyzed for the case of slowly moving targets. Issues related to forming the basis matrix that spans the angle-Doppler space, and for selecting a grid for that space are discussed. Extensive simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach at difference jammer and noise levels.
