Amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of J/ψ→ΛΣˉ0η+c.cJ/ψ\to Λ\barΣ^0η+\mathrm{c.c}

Based on a sample of (10087±44)×106(10087\pm44)\times10^{6} J/ψJ/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial-wave analysis of J/ψ→ΛΣˉ0η+c.c J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c} is performed for the first time. The dominant contributions are found to be excited ΛΛ states with JP=1/2−J^P=1/2^- and JP=1/2+J^P=1/2^+ in the ηΛηΛ mass spectra. The measured masses and widths are M=1668.8±3.1±21.2M=1668.8\pm3.1\pm21.2 MeV/c2c^2 and Γ=52.7±4.2±17.8Γ=52.7\pm4.2\pm17.8 MeV for the Λ(1670)Λ(1670), and M=1881.5±16.5±20.3M=1881.5\pm16.5\pm20.3 MeV/c2c^2 and Γ=82.4±18.2±8.9Γ=82.4\pm18.2\pm8.9 MeV for the Λ(1810)Λ(1810), respectively. The branching fraction is determined to be B(J/ψ→ΛΣˉ0η+c.c) \mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c}) = (3.44±0.11±0.13)×10−5(3.44 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.13) \times 10^{-5}. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Cross section measurement of e+e−→π0π0ψ(3686)e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686) from s=\sqrt{s}= 4.008 GeV to 4.951 GeV

Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of 22.1 fb−122.1~\rm fb^{-1} at center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.951~GeV collected with the BESIII detector, the cross sections of e+e−→π0π0ψ(3686)e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686) process are measured. The obtained cross sections are found to be approximately one-half of those of e+e−→π+π−ψ(3686)e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686), consistent with the isospin symmetry expectation. A coherent fit to the dressed cross sections is performed, with the Y(4230)Y(4230)~parameters fixed at the values measured in e+e−→π+π−ψ(3686)e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686). The significances of the Y(4390)Y(4390) and Y(4660)Y(4660) are both larger than 5σ5σ, and their masses and widths are consistent with the previous measurement in the e+e−→π+π−ψ(3686)e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686) process.

First Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of ηc→γγη_c \to γγ

We apply a tag-and-probe method to precisely measure the absolute branching fraction of the decay ηc→γγη_c \to γγ with the BESIII experiment at BEPCII. Starting with a large initial sample of 2712.4±14.32712.4\pm 14.3 million ψ(3686)ψ(3686) events, a sample of 0.16 million ηcη_c events are tagged via the golden channel ψ(3686)→π0hcψ(3686)\to π^0 h_c, hc→γηch_c\to γη_c, effectively avoiding interference effects. The absolute branching fraction of ηc→γγη_c \to γγ is measured for the first time to be B(ηc→γγ)=(2.45±0.48stat.±0.09syst.)×10−4\mathcal{B}(η_c \to γγ) = (2.45 \pm 0.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.09_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-4}. Using the world average value of the total width of the ηcη_c, the partial decay width of ηc→γγη_c \to γγ is calculated to be Γ(ηc→γγ)=(7.48±1.48stat.±0.30syst.) keVΓ(η_c \to γγ) = (7.48 \pm 1.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.30_{\rm syst.})~{\rm keV}.

First Observation of D0(+)→Kˉωe+νeD^{0(+)}\to \bar Kωe^+ν_e and Determination of the Branching Fraction of Kˉ1(1270)→Kˉω\bar K_1(1270)\to \bar K ω

Using 20.3~fb−1^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the semileptonic decays D0→K−ωe+νeD^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e and D+→KS0ωe+νeD^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e with significances of 8.0σ8.0σ and 5.8σ5.8σ, respectively, including systematic uncertainties. Their decay branching fractions are measured to be B(D0→K−ωe+νe)=(9.3−1.9+2.1±0.7)×10−5{\cal B}(D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e)=(9.3^{+2.1}_{-1.9}\pm 0.7)\times10^{-5} and B(D+→KS0ωe+νe)=(6.6−1.8+2.0±0.6)×10−5{\cal B}(D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e)=(6.6^{+2.0}_{-1.8}\pm 0.6)\times10^{-5}. Combining with the latest measurements of D0(+)→K−π+π−(0)e+νeD^{0(+)}\to K^-π^+π^{-(0)} e^+ν_e and assuming Kˉ1(1270)\bar{K}_1(1270) to be the sole mediating resonance in all processes, the branching ratios are determined to be Γ(K1(1270)−→K−π+π−)Γ(K1(1270)−→K−ω)=3.4−0.7+0.8±0.3\frac{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-π^+π^-)}{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-ω)} = 3.4^{+0.8}_{-0.7} \pm 0.3 and Γ(Kˉ1(1270)0→K−π+π0)Γ(Kˉ1(1270)0→Kˉ0ω)=9.6−2.7+3.0±0.8\frac{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to K^-π^+π^0)}{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to \bar{K}^0ω)} = 9.6^{+3.0}_{-2.7} \pm 0.8. The combined branching fraction is determined to be B(Kˉ1(1270)→Kˉω)=(7.5±1.3±0.5)%\mathcal B(\bar{K}_1(1270)\to \bar{K}ω) = (7.5\pm 1.3 \pm 0.5)\%, which is the most precise measurement from a collider experiment. The first uncertainties are statistical, and the second are systematic.

Measurements of the absolute branching fractions of the Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} hadronic decays

Based on 4.5 fb−1^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4599.53 MeV and 4698.82 MeV with the BESIII detector, the absolute branching fractions of twelve Λc+Λ_{c}^{+} hadronic decay modes are measured with a double-tag technique. A global least-square fit is implemented simultaneously among different decay modes at different energy points. This paper gives the most precise results on the branching fractions of different decay modes to date, with precision improved by a factor of 2 to 3. Among them, the branching fraction of Λc+→pK−π+Λ_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}π^+ is determined to be (6.61±0.11±0.12)%(6.61\pm0.11\pm0.12)\%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, the e+e−→Λc+Λˉc−e^+e^-\toΛ_c^+\barΛ_c^- Born cross sections and the effective form factors (∣Geff∣|G_{\rm eff}|) at different energy points have been determined with the highest precision to date.

Search for a dark baryon in the Ξ−→π−+invisibleΞ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible} decay

A search for a dark baryon is performed for the first time in the two-body decay Ξ−→π−+invisibleΞ^-\rightarrowπ^-+{\rm invisible} using (10.087±0.044)×109(10.087\pm0.044)\times10^{9} J/ψJ/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097\,\mbox{GeV}$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. Search for Cosmic Ray Electron Boosted Dark Matter with the CDEX-10 Experiment

We present new constraints on the cosmic ray electron boosted light dark matter (CReDM) using the 205.4 kg⋅\cdotday data of the CDEX-10 experiment located at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. The cosmic ray electron spectrum and distribution in the Galaxy are generated by the GALPROP\tt GALPROP code package. In the calculation process of DM-electron scattering process in the Galaxy, we consider the energy-dependency of the DM-electron scattering cross section. The constraints on CReDM are set for both heavy and light mediator scenarios using the CDEX-10 dataset. The result exceeds previous Standard Halo Model (SHM) limits for DM mass lower than 0.6 MeV in heavy mediator case and corresponds to the best sensitivity among all direct detection experiments from 1 keV to 0.5 MeV in the light mediator scenario.

Constraints on inelastic dark matter from the CDEX-1B experiment

We present limits on spin-independent inelastic weakly interacting massive particles (WIMP)-nucleus scattering using the 737.1 kg⋅\cdotday dataset from the CDEX-1B experiment. Expected nuclear recoil spectra for various inelastic WIMP masses mχm_χ and mass splittings δδ are calculated under the standard halo model. An accurate background model of CDEX-1B is constructed by simulating all major background sources. The model parameters are then determined through maximum likelihood estimation and Markov chain Monte Carlo fitting. The resulting 90\% confidence level upper limits on the WIMP-nucleon cross section σnσ_{\mathrm{n}} exclude certain DAMA/LIBRA allowed regions: the χ2<4χ^2 < 4 regions for δ<30δ< 30 keV at mχ=250m_χ= 250 GeV and the χ2<9χ^2 < 9 region for δ<50δ< 50 keV at mχ=500m_χ= 500 GeV. The method is applicable to other inelastic dark matter scenarios, and the upcoming CDEX-50 experiment is expected to improve sensitivity by four orders of magnitude.

Investigation of the ΔI=1/2ΔI = 1/2 rule and test of CP violation through the measurement of decay asymmetry parameters in Ξ−Ξ^- decays

Using (10087±44)×106(10087\pm44)\times 10^{6} J/ψJ/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ−Ξ^- and ΛΛ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψ→Ξ−Ξˉ+→Λ(pπ−)π−Λˉ(nˉπ0)π+J/ψ\to Ξ^- \barΞ^+ \to Λ(pπ^-) π^- \barΛ(\bar{n} π^0) π^+ and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α0α_0 for Λ→nπ0Λ\to nπ^0 and αˉ0\barα_0 for Λˉ→nˉπ0\barΛ \to \bar{n}π^0 compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λ→nπ0Λ\to nπ^0 to that of Λ→pπ−Λ\to pπ^-, ⟨α0⟩/⟨αΛ−⟩\langle α_0 \rangle/ \langle α_{Λ-} \rangle , is determined to be 0.873±0.012−0.010+0.011 0.873 \pm 0.012^{+0.011}_{-0.010}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than 5σ5σ, which signifies the existence of the ΔI=3/2ΔI = 3/2 transition in ΛΛ for the first time. Beside, we test for CP violation in Ξ−→Λπ−Ξ^- \to Λπ^- and in Λ→nπ0Λ\to n π^{0} with the best precision to date.

Exclusive π−π^{-} Electroproduction off the Neutron in Deuterium in the Resonance Region

New results for the exclusive and quasi-free cross sections off neutrons bound in deuterium γvn(p)→pπ−(p)γ_vn(p) \rightarrow pπ^{-} (p) are presented over a wide final state hadron angle range with a kinematic coverage of the invariant mass (WW) up to 1.825 GeV and the virtual photon four-momentum transfer squared (Q2Q^{2}) from 0.4 to 1.0 GeV2^2. The exclusive structure functions were extracted and their Legendre moments were obtained. Final-state-interaction contributions have been kinematically separated from the extracted quasi-free cross sections off bound neutrons solely based on the analysis of the experimental data. These new results will serve as long-awaited input for phenomenological analyses to extract the Q2Q^{2} evolution of previously unavailable n→N∗n \to N^{*} electroexcitation amplitudes and to improve state-of-the-art models of neutrino scattering off nuclei by augmenting the already available results from free protons.

Search for hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness in e+e−→K+Ds∗−D∗0+c.c.e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow K^+ D_{s}^{*-} D^{*0}+c.c.

We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed Zcs(3985)−Z_{cs}(3985)^{-} state, denoted as Zcs′−Z_{cs}^{\prime -}, in the process e+e−→K+Ds∗−D∗0+c.c.e^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}+c.c., based on e+e−e^+e^- collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of s=4.661\sqrt{s}=4.661, 4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector. The Zcs′−Z_{cs}^{\prime -} is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark. A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate K+K^+ recoil-mass spectra, which are probed for a potential contribution from Zcs′−→Ds∗−D∗0Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\to D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0} (c.c.c.c.). We find an excess of Zcs′−→Ds∗−D∗0Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{*0} (c.c.c.c.) candidates with a significance of 2.1σ2.1σ, after considering systematic uncertainties, at a mass of (4123.5±0.7stat.±4.7syst.) MeV/c2(4123.5\pm0.7_\mathrm{stat.}\pm4.7_\mathrm{syst.})\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}. As the data set is limited in size, the upper limits are evaluated at the 90\% confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections (σBornσ^{\mathrm{Born}}) and the branching fraction (B\mathcal{B}) of Zcs′−→Ds∗−D∗0Z_{cs}^{\prime-}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}, under different assumptions of the Zcs′−Z_{cs}^{\prime -} mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies. The upper limits of σBorn⋅Bσ^{\rm Born}\cdot\mathcal{B} are found to be at the level of O(1)\mathcal{O}(1) pb at each energy. Larger data samples are needed to confirm the Zcs′−Z_{cs}^{\prime -} state and clarify its nature in the coming years.

Cross section measurements of the processes e+e−→ωπ0e^+e^- \rightarrow ωπ^{0} and ωηωη at center-of-mass energies between 3.773 and 4.701 GeV

The Born cross sections of the processes e+e−→ωπ0e^+e^- \rightarrow ωπ^{0} and e+e−→ωηe^+e^- \rightarrow ωη are measured at center-of-mass energies between 3.773 and 4.701 GeV using a total integrated luminosity of 22.7 fb−1^{-1} collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. Deeply virtual Compton scattering cross section at high Bjorken xBx_B

We report high-precision measurements of the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) cross section at high values of the Bjorken variable xBx_B. DVCS is sensitive to the Generalized Parton Distributions of the nucleon, which provide a three-dimensional description of its internal constituents. Using the exact analytic expression of the DVCS cross section for all possible polarization states of the initial and final electron and nucleon, and final state photon, we present the first experimental extraction of all four helicity-conserving Compton Form Factors (CFFs) of the nucleon as a function of xBx_B, while systematically including helicity flip amplitudes. In particular, the high accuracy of the present data demonstrates sensitivity to some very poorly known CFFs.

Determination of the argon spectral function from (e,e'p) data

The E12-14-012 experiment, performed in Jefferson Lab Hall A, has measured the (e,e′p)(e, e'p) cross section in parallel kinematics using a natural argon target. Here, we report the full results of the analysis of the data set corresponding to beam energy 2.222 GeV, and spanning the missing momentum and missing energy range 15≲pm≲30015 \lesssim p_m \lesssim 300 MeV/c and 12≲Em≲8012 \lesssim E_m \lesssim 80 MeV. The reduced cross section, determined as a function of pmp_m and EmE_m with ≈\approx4\% accuracy, has been fitted using the results of Monte Carlo simulations involving a model spectral function and including the effects of final state interactions. The overall agreement between data and simulations turns out to be quite satisfactory (χ2χ^2/n.d.o.f.=1.9). The resulting spectral function will provide valuable new information, needed for the interpretation of neutrino interactions in liquid argon detectors.

The Λc+→pK−e+νeΛ_c^+\rightarrow pK^-e^+ν_e decay is observed with a significance of 8.2σ8.2σ and the branching fraction is measured to be B(Λc+→pK−e+νe)=(0.88±0.17stat.±0.07syst.)×10−3\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\rightarrow pK^- e^+ν_e)=(0.88\pm0.17_{\rm stat.}\pm0.07_{\rm syst.})\times 10^{-3}. We also report evidence of Λc+→Λ(1520)e+νeΛ_c^+\rightarrow Λ(1520)e^+ν_e and Λc+→Λ(1405)e+νeΛ_c^+\rightarrow Λ(1405)e^+ν_e with significances of 3.3σ3.3σ and 3.2σ3.2σ, respectively, and measure B(Λc+→Λ(1520)e+νe)=(1.02±0.52stat.±0.11syst.)×10−3\mathcal B(Λ^+_c\rightarrow Λ(1520)e^+ν_e)=(1.02\pm0.52_{\rm stat.}\pm0.11_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3} and B(Λc+→Λ(1405)[→pK−]e+νe)=(0.42±0.19stat.±0.04syst.)×10−3\mathcal B(Λ^+_c\rightarrow Λ(1405)[\rightarrow pK^-]e^+ν_e)=(0.42\pm0.19_{\rm stat.}\pm0.04_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3}. Combining these with the inclusive semileptonic Λc+Λ_c^+ branching fraction measured by BESIII, the relative fraction is determined to be [B(Λc+→pK−e+νe)/B(Λc+→Xe+νe)]=(2.1±0.4stat.±0.2syst.)%[\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\rightarrow pK^-e^+ν_e)/\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\rightarrow X e^+ν_e)]=(2.1\pm0.4_{\rm stat.}\pm0.2_{\rm syst.})\%, which provides a clear confirmation that semileptonic Λc+Λ_c^+ decays are not saturated by the Λℓ+νℓΛ\ell^+ν_{\ell} final state.

flow-based clustering and spectral clustering: a comparison

We propose and study a novel graph clustering method for data with an intrinsic network structure. Similar to spectral clustering, we exploit an intrinsic network structure of data to construct Euclidean feature vectors. These feature vectors can then be fed into basic clustering methods such as k-means or Gaussian mixture model (GMM) based soft clustering. What sets our approach apart from spectral clustering is that we do not use the eigenvectors of a graph Laplacian to construct the feature vectors. Instead, we use the solutions of total variation minimization problems to construct feature vectors that reflect connectivity between data points. Our motivation is that the solutions of total variation minimization are piece-wise constant around a given set of seed nodes. These seed nodes can be obtained from domain knowledge or by simple heuristics that are based on the network structure of data. Our results indicate that our clustering methods can cope with certain graph structures that are challenging for spectral clustering methods.

Measurement of e+e−→K+K−π0e^{+}e^{-} \to K^{+}K^{-}π^{0} cross section and observation of a resonant structure

Based on e+e−e^{+}e^{-} collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV, a partial-wave analysis is performed for the process e+e−→K+K−π0e^{+}e^{-} \to K^{+}K^{-}π^{0}. The Born cross section of the process e+e−→K+K−π0e^{+}e^{-} \to K^{+}K^{-}π^{0} and its subprocesses e+e−→ϕπ0e^{+}e^{-} \to ϕπ^{0}, K∗(892)KK^{*}(892)K and K2∗(1430)KK^{*}_{2}(1430)K are measured. The results for e+e−→K+K−π0e^{+}e^{-} \to K^{+}K^{-}π^{0} and ϕπ0ϕπ^{0} are consistent with the BaBar measurements and with improved precision. By analyzing the cross section, of the subprocesses e+e−→e^{+}e^{-} \to K∗(892)KK^{*}(892)K and K2∗(1430)KK^{*}_{2}(1430)K, a structure with mass MRM_R = (2208 ±\pm 19 ±\pm 24) MeV/c2c^{2} and width ΓRΓ_R = (168 ±\pm 24 ±\pm 39) MeV is observed with a combined statistical significance of 7.6σσ. The measured resonance parameters suggest it can be identified as the ϕ(2170)ϕ(2170), thus the results provide valuable input to understand the internal nature of this state.

Using 2.93 fb−12.93\,\rm fb^{-1} of e+e−e^+e^- collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773\,GeV with the BESIII detector, we present a measurement of the branching fraction of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed (DCS) decay D0→K+π−π0D^0\to K^+π^-π^0 and a search for the DCS decay D0→K+π−π0π0D^0\to K^+π^-π^0π^0. The branching fraction of D0→K+π−π0D^0\to K^+π^-π^0 is determined to be [3.13−0.56+0.60(stat)±0.09(syst)]×10−4[3.13^{+0.60}_{-0.56}({\rm stat}) \pm 0.09({\rm syst})] \times 10^{-4}. No signal is observed for D0→K+π−π0π0D^0\to K^+π^-π^0π^0 and an upper limit of 3.6×10−43.6 \times 10^{-4} is set on the branching fraction at the 90\% C.L. Measurement of the total and leptonic decay widths of the J/ψJ/ψ resonance with an energy scan method at BESIII

Using e+e−e^+e^- annihilation data sets collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the cross sections of the processes e+e−→e+e−e^+e^- \to e^+e^- and e+e−→μ+μ−e^+e^- \to μ^+μ^- at fifteen center-of-mass energy points in the vicinity of the J/ψJ/ψ resonance. By a simultaneous fit to the measured, center-of-mass energy dependent cross sections of the two processes, the combined quantities ΓeeΓee/ΓtotΓ_{ee} Γ_{ee} / Γ_{\rm tot} and ΓeeΓμμ/ΓtotΓ_{ee} Γ_{μμ} / Γ_{\rm tot} are determined to be (0.346±0.0090.346 \pm 0.009) and (0.335±0.0060.335 \pm 0.006) keV, respectively, where ΓeeΓ_{ee}, ΓμμΓ_{μμ}, and ΓtotΓ_{\rm tot} are the electronic, muonic, and total decay widths of the J/ψJ/ψ resonance, respectively. Using the resultant ΓeeΓμμ/ΓtotΓ_{ee} Γ_{μμ} / Γ_{\rm tot} and ΓeeΓee/ΓtotΓ_{ee} Γ_{ee} / Γ_{\rm tot}, the ratio Γee/ΓμμΓ_{ee} / Γ_{μμ} is calculated to be 1.031±0.0151.031 \pm 0.015, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton universality within about two standard deviations. Assuming lepton universality and using the branching fraction of the J/ψJ/ψ leptonic decay measured by BESIII in 2013, ΓtotΓ_{\rm tot} and ΓllΓ_{ll} are determined to be (93.0±2.193.0 \pm 2.1) and (5.56±0.115.56 \pm 0.11) keV, respectively, where ΓllΓ_{ll} is the average leptonic decay width of the J/ψJ/ψ resonance.

Here the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. The newly studied decays greatly enrich the knowledge of the D→KˉπππD\to \bar Kπππ and D→KˉππππD\to \bar Kππππ hadronic decays, and open a bridge to access more two-body hadronic DD decays containing scalar, vector, axial and tensor mesons in the charm sector.

New Measurements of the Beam-Normal Single Spin Asymmetry in Elastic Electron Scattering Over a Range of Spin-0 Nuclei

We report precision determinations of the beam normal single spin asymmetries (AnA_n) in the elastic scattering of 0.95 and 2.18~GeV electrons off 12^{12}C, 40^{40}Ca, 48^{48}Ca, and 208^{208}Pb at very forward angles where the most detailed theoretical calculations have been performed. The first measurements of AnA_n for 40^{40}Ca and 48^{48}Ca are found to be similar to that of 12^{12}C, consistent with expectations thus demonstrating the validity of theoretical calculations for nuclei with Z~≤20\leq20. We also report AnA_n for 208^{208}Pb at two new momentum transfers (Q2^2) extending the previous measurement. Our new data confirm the surprising result previously reported, with all three data points showing significant disagreement with the results from the Z≤20Z\leq 20 nuclei. These data confirm our basic understanding of the underlying dynamics that govern AnA_n for nuclei containing ≲50\lesssim 50 nucleons, but point to the need for further investigation to understand the unusual AnA_n behaviour discovered for scattering off 208^{208}Pb.

Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 fb−1\rm fb^{-1} collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.234.23 to 4.704.70 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the product of the e+e−→π+π−ψ2(3823)e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823) cross section and the branching fraction B[ψ2(3823)→γχc1]\mathcal{B}[ψ_2(3823)\to γχ_{c1}]. For the first time, resonance structure is observed in the cross section line shape of e+e−→π+π−ψ2(3823)e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823) with significances exceeding 5σ5σ. A fit to data with two coherent Breit-Wigner resonances modeling the s\sqrt{s}-dependent cross section yields M(R1)=4406.9±17.2±4.5M(R_1)=4406.9\pm 17.2\pm 4.5 MeV/c2c^2, Γ(R1)=128.1±37.2±2.3Γ(R_1)=128.1\pm 37.2\pm 2.3 MeV, and M(R2)=4647.9±8.6±0.8M(R_2)=4647.9\pm 8.6\pm 0.8 MeV/c2c^2, Γ(R2)=33.1±18.6±4.1Γ(R_2)=33.1\pm 18.6\pm 4.1 MeV. Though weakly disfavored by the data, a single resonance with M(R)=4417.5±26.2±3.5M(R)=4417.5\pm26.2\pm3.5 MeV/c2c^2, Γ(R)=245±48±13Γ(R)=245\pm48\pm13 MeV is also possible to interpret data. Online progressive instance-balanced sampling for weakly supervised object detection

Based on multiple instance detection networks (MIDN), plenty of works have contributed tremendous efforts to weakly supervised object detection (WSOD). However, most methods neglect the fact that the overwhelming negative instances exist in each image during the training phase, which would mislead the training and make the network fall into local minima. To tackle this problem, an online progressive instance-balanced sampling (OPIS) algorithm based on hard sampling and soft sampling is proposed in this paper. The algorithm includes two modules: a progressive instance balance (PIB) module and a progressive instance reweighting (PIR) module. The PIB module combining random sampling and IoU-balanced sampling progressively mines hard negative instances while balancing positive instances and negative instances. The PIR module further utilizes classifier scores and IoUs of adjacent refinements to reweight the weights of positive instances for making the network focus on positive instances. Extensive experimental results on the PASCAL VOC 2007 and 2012 datasets demonstrate the proposed method can significantly improve the baseline, which is also comparable to many existing state-of-the-art results. In addition, compared to the baseline, the proposed method requires no extra network parameters and the supplementary training overheads are small, which could be easily integrated into other methods based on the instance classifier refinement paradigm.

Using a sample of (10.09 ± 0.04)×109 J/ψ(10.09~\pm~0.04)\times10^{9} ~J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of J/ψ→γη′η′J/ψ\toγη^{\prime}η^{\prime} is performed. The masses and widths of the observed resonances and their branching fractions are reported. The main contribution is from J/ψ→γf0(2020)J/ψ\rightarrowγf_0(2020) with f0(2020)→η′η′f_0(2020)\rightarrowη^{\prime}η^{\prime}, which is found with a significance of greater than 25σσ. Precision Determination of the Neutral Weak Form Factor of 48^{48}Ca

We report a precise measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry APVA_{\rm PV} in the elastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from 48Ca^{48}{\rm Ca}. We measure APV=2668±106 (stat)±40 (syst)A_{\rm PV} =2668\pm 106\ {\rm (stat)}\pm 40\ {\rm (syst)} parts per billion, leading to an extraction of the neutral weak form factor FW(q=0.8733F_{\rm W} (q=0.8733 fm−1)=0.1304±0.0052 (stat)±0.0020 (syst)^{-1}) = 0.1304 \pm 0.0052 \ {\rm (stat)}\pm 0.0020\ {\rm (syst)} and the charge minus the weak form factor Fch−FW=0.0277±0.0055F_{\rm ch} - F_{\rm W} = 0.0277\pm 0.0055. The resulting neutron skin thickness Rn−Rp=0.121±0.026 (exp)±0.024 (model)R_n-R_p=0.121 \pm 0.026\ {\rm (exp)} \pm 0.024\ {\rm (model)}~fm is relatively thin yet consistent with many model calculations. The combined CREX and PREX results will have implications for future energy density functional calculations and on the density dependence of the symmetry energy of nuclear matter.

Search for Neutrinoless Double-Beta Decay of 76^{76}Ge with a Natural Broad Energy Germanium Detector

A natural broad energy germanium (BEGe) detector is operated in the China Jinping Underground Laboratory (CJPL) for a feasibility study of building the next generation experiment of the neutrinoless double-beta (0{νββνββ}) decay of 76^{76}Ge. The setup of the prototype facility, characteristics of the BEGe detector, background reduction methods, and data analysis are described in this paper. A background index of 6.4×\times10−3^{-3} counts/(keV⋅\cdotkg⋅\cdotday) is achieved and 1.86 times lower than our previous result of the CDEX-1 detector. No signal is observed with an exposure of 186.4 kg⋅\cdotday, thus a limit on the half life of 76^{76}Ge 0νββνββ decay is set at T1/20ν_{1/2}^{0ν} >> 5.62×\times1022^{22} yr at 90% C.L.. The limit corresponds to an effective Majorana neutrino mass in the range of 4.6 ∼\sim 10.3 eV, dependent on the nuclear matrix elements.

Studies of the Earth shielding effect to direct dark matter searches at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory

Dark matter direct detection experiments mostly operate at deep underground laboratories. It is necessary to consider shielding effect of the Earth, especially for dark matter particles interacting with a large cross section. We analyzed and simulated the Earth shielding effect for dark matter at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory (CJPL) with a simulation package, CJPL Earth Shielding Simulation code (CJPL\_ESS), which is applicable to other underground locations. The further constraints on the χχ-N cross section exclusion regions are derived based on the studies with CDEX experiment data.

The cross-section measurement for the 3H(e,e′K+)nnΛ^3{\textrm H}(e,e'K^+)nnΛ reaction

The small binding energy of the hypertrition leads to predictions of non-existence of bound hypernuclei for isotriplet three-body systems such as nnΛnnΛ. However, invariant mass spectroscopy at GSI has reported events that may be interpreted as the bound nnΛnnΛ state. The nnΛnnΛ state was sought by missing-mass spectroscopy via the (e,e′K+)(e,e'K^+) reaction at Jefferson Lab's experimental Hall A. The present experiment has higher sensitivity to the nnΛnnΛ-state investigation in terms of better precision by a factor of about three. The analysis shown in this article focuses on the derivation of the reaction cross-section for the 3H(γ∗,K+)X^3{\rm{H}}(γ^{*},K^+)\textrm{X} reaction. Events that were detected in an acceptance, where a Monte Carlo simulation could reproduce the data well (∣δp/p∣<4%|δp/p| < 4\%), were analyzed to minimize the systematic uncertainty. No significant structures were observed with the acceptance cuts, and the upper limits of the production cross-section of the nnΛnnΛ state were obtained to be 2121 and 31 nb/sr31~\rm{nb/sr} at the 90%90\% confidence level when theoretical predictions of (−BΛ,Γ)=(0.25,0.8)(-B_Λ, Γ) = (0.25,0.8) and (0.55,4.7)(0.55, 4.7) MeV, respectively, were assumed. The cross-section result provides valuable information for examining the existence of nnΛnnΛ.

Tunable microwave absorption performance of nitrogen and sulfur dual-doped graphene by varying doping sequence

Sulfur and nitrogen dual doped graphene have been extensively investigated in the field of oxygen reduction reaction, supercapacitors and batteries, but their magnetic and absorption performance have not been explored. Besides, the effects of doping sequence of sulfur and nitrogen atoms on the morphology, structural property and the corresponding microwave absorption performance of the dual doped graphene remain unexplored. In this work, nitrogen and sulfur dual doped graphene with different doping sequence were successfully prepared using a controllable two steps facile thermal treatment method. The first doping process played a decisive role on the morphology, crystal size, interlayer distance, doping degree and ultimately magnetic and microwave absorption properties of the dual doped graphene samples. Meanwhile, the second doping step affected the doping sites and further had a repairing or damaging effect on the final doped graphene. The dual doped graphene samples exhibited two pronounced absorption peaks which intensity was decided by the order of the doping elements. This nitrogen and sulfur dual doped graphene with controlled doping order provides a strategy for understanding of the interaction between nitrogen and sulfur as dual dopants in graphene and further acquiring microwave absorbing materials with tunable absorption bands by varying the doping sequence.

Ab initio calculations of the structural, electronic and elastic properties of the MZN2 (M=Be, Mg; Z=C, Si) chalcopyrite semiconductors

Four ternary semiconductors with the chalcopyrite structure (BeCN2, BeSiN2, MgCN2, and MgSiN2) were studied using the first principles methods. The structural, electronic, optical and elastic properties were calculated. All these materials were found to be the indirect band gap semiconductors, with the calculated band gaps in the range from 3.46 eV to 3.88 eV. Comparison of the degree of covalency/ionicity of the chemical bonds in these compounds was performed. Anisotropy of the optical properties of these tetragonal crystals was demonstrated by calculating the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric function ε. Anisotropy of the elastic properties of these materials was analyzed by plotting the three-dimensional dependences of the Young moduli and their two-dimensional cross-sections. It was also shown (at least, qualitatively) that there exists a correlation between the optical and elastic anisotropy: the most optically anisotropic MgSiN2 is also most elastically anisotropic material in the considered group. High hardness (bulk moduli up to 300 GPa) together with large band gaps may lead to new potential applications of these compounds.

The First Data Release (DR1) of the LAMOST general survey

The Large sky Area Multi-Object Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) General Survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects both in the pilot survey and the first year general survey are included in the LAMOST First Data Release (DR1). The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The general survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2,955,336 spectra, of which 1,790,879 spectra have observed signal-to-noise S/N >10. All data with S/N>2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2,204,696 spectra, of which 1,944,329 are stellar spectra, 12,082 are galaxy spectra and 5,017 are quasars. The DR1 includes not only spectra, but also three stellar catalogues with measured parameters: AFGK-type stars with high quality spectra (1,061,918 entries), A-type stars (100,073 entries), and M stars (121,522 entries). This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. Description of the FITS structure of spectral files and parameter catalogues is also provided.

Optical evidence of surface state suppression in Bi based topological insulators

A key challenge in condensed matter research is the optimization of topological insulator (TI) compounds for the study and future application of their unique surface states. Truly insulating bulk states would allow the exploitation of predicted surface state properties, such as protection from backscattering, dissipationless spin-polarized currents, and the emergence of novel particles. Towards this end, major progress was recently made with the introduction of highly resistive Bi2_2Te2_2Se, in which surface state conductance and quantum oscillations are observed at low temperatures. Nevertheless, an unresolved and pivotal question remains: while room temperature ARPES studies reveal clear evidence of TI surface states, their observation in transport experiments is limited to low temperatures. A better understanding of this surface state suppression at elevated temperatures is of fundamental interest, and crucial for pushing the boundary of device applications towards room-temperature operation. In this work, we simultaneously measure TI bulk and surface states via temperature dependent optical spectroscopy, in conjunction with transport and ARPES measurements. We find evidence of coherent surface state transport at low temperatures, and propose that phonon mediated coupling between bulk and surface states suppresses surface conductance as temperature rises.

3D Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model with a separable pairing interaction

A recently introduced separable pairing force for relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) calculations, adjusted in nuclear matter to the pairing gap of the Gogny force, is employed in the 3D RHB model for triaxial shapes. The pairing force is separable in momentum space but, when transformed to coordinate space in calculations of finite nuclei, it is no longer separable because of translational invariance. The corresponding pairing matrix elements are represented as a sum of a finite number of separable terms in the basis of a 3D harmonic oscillator. The 3D RHB model is applied to the calculation of binding energy surfaces and pairing energy maps for a sequence of even-A Sm isotopes.

A finite range pairing force for density functional theory in superfluid nuclei

The problem of pairing in the 1^{1}S0_{0} channel of finite nuclei is revisited. In nuclear matter forces of separable form can be adjusted to the bare nuclear force, to any phenomenological pairing interaction such as the Gogny force or to exact solutions of the gap equation. In finite nuclei, because of translational invariance, such forces are no longer separable. Using well known techniques of Talmi and Moshinsky we expand the matrix elements in a series of separable terms, which converges quickly preserving translational invariance and finite range. In this way the complicated problem of a cut-off at large momenta or energies inherent in other separable or zero range pairing forces is avoided. Applications in the framework of the relativistic Hartree Bogoliubov approach show that the pairing properties are depicted on almost the same footing as by the original pairing interaction not only in nuclear matter, but also in finite nuclei. This simple separable force can be easily applied for the investigation of pairing properties in nuclei far from stability as well as for further investigations going beyond mean field theory.
