Analytic solution of Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with running coupling constant using homogeneous balance method

In this study, we employ the homogeneous balance method to obtain an analytical solution to the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with running coupling. We utilize two distinct prescriptions of the running coupling scale, namely the saturation scale dependent running coupling and the dipole momentum dependent running coupling. By fitting the proton structure function experimental data, we determine the free parameters in the analytical solution. The resulting $χ^{2}/d.o.f$ values are determined to be $1.07$ and $1.43$, respectively. With these definitive solutions, we are able to predict exclusive $J/ψ$ production, and demonstrate that analytical solutions with running coupling are in excellent agreement with $J/ψ$ differential and total cross section. Furthermore, our numerical results indicate that the analytical solution of the BK equation with running coupling can provide a reliable description for both the proton structure function and exclusive vector meson production.

Exclusive vector meson productions with the analytical solution of Balitsky-Kovchegov Equation

Exclusive vector meson production is an excellent probe for describing the structure of proton. In this paper, based on dipole model, the differential cross sections, total cross sections and the ratios of the longitudinal to transverse cross sections of $J/ψ$ and $ρ^0$ productions are calculated with the analytical solution of Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation. In addition, we also consider the influences of two meson wave function models on the results. Our predictions, which are little sensitive to meson wave functions, agree with the experimental data. The analytical solution of BK equation is reliable for description of exclusive vector meson production in a certain range of $Q^2$.

Extraction of Proton Trace Anomaly Energy from Near-Threshold $ϕ$ and $J/ψ$ photo-productions

The trace anomalous energy contribution to the proton mass is a very important topic in non-perturbative QCD and hadron physics. In experiments, it is under the hot discussions on how to measure the trace anomalous energy. The QCD interpretation of proton trace anomaly is still not clear. To connect the theory with the experiment,we extract the trace anomaly by analyzing the near-threshold photo-production data of $ϕ$ and J/$ψ$ vector mesons. Based on the vector-meson-dominance model and QCD Van der Waals representation, we find that the percentage of trace anomaly in the proton mass ranges from $16\%$ to $24\%$, which is of similar order of magnitude as the 23$\%$ given by Lattice QCD. We also provide the approximate magnitudes of the systematic uncertainties of the extracted results from the model assumptions as well as the data fitting procedures. We give relative statistical uncertainties of 17.2$\%$, 17.7$\%$, 3.6$\%$, and 8.2$\%$, total relative systematic uncertainties of 21.4$\%$, 54.2$\%$, 37.2$\%$, and 25.7$\%$, for the analyses of the GlueX, LEPS, CLAS, and SAPHIR data, respectively. We argue that the near-threshold $Υ$ photo-production experiments are more beneficial for the measurement of trace anomaly in proton mass in the future.

Investigating the muon catalyzed fusion in muonic lithium hydride

In this work, we consider the muonic LiH as a new stage of the $μ$ catalyzed fusion. We calculate the bound states of the muonic LiH and LiH$^+$ and their wave functions based on the three and four body approximation. In order to solve the Schr$\ddot{\rm o}$dinger equation, we apply the Gaussian expansion method which gives us both the eigen energies and the wave functions. The existences of the bound states in muonic LiH and LiH$^+$ are confirmed. We find the dynamical behaviors between the $^7$Li and proton in muonic LiH and LiH$^+$ are similar as the ones in dt$μ_2$ and dt$μ$, respectively. The $α$ sticking probability in the muonic LiH$^+$ after the nuclear fusion is studied. The calculated $α$ sticking probability of being captured to the ground state of He$μ$ is 5 times smaller than the one in dt$μ$.

Mass Testing and Characterization of 20-inch PMTs for JUNO

Main goal of the JUNO experiment is to determine the neutrino mass ordering using a 20kt liquid-scintillator detector. Its key feature is an excellent energy resolution of at least 3 % at 1 MeV, for which its instruments need to meet a certain quality and thus have to be fully characterized. More than 20,000 20-inch PMTs have been received and assessed by JUNO after a detailed testing program which began in 2017 and elapsed for about four years. Based on this mass characterization and a set of specific requirements, a good quality of all accepted PMTs could be ascertained. This paper presents the performed testing procedure with the designed testing systems as well as the statistical characteristics of all 20-inch PMTs intended to be used in the JUNO experiment, covering more than fifteen performance parameters including the photocathode uniformity. This constitutes the largest sample of 20-inch PMTs ever produced and studied in detail to date, i.e. 15,000 of the newly developed 20-inch MCP-PMTs from Northern Night Vision Technology Co. (NNVT) and 5,000 of dynode PMTs from Hamamatsu Photonics K. K.(HPK).

The neutron and proton mass radii from the vector meson photoproduction data on the deuterium target

In this study, we try to extract the mass radii of the neutron and the proton from the differential cross section data of near-threshold $ω$ and $ϕ$ photoproductions on deuterium target, which is often approximated as a quasi-free neutron plus a quasi-free proton. The incoherent data of $ω$ and $ϕ$ photoproductions are provided by CBELSA/TAPS collaboration and LEPS collaboration respectively, where the deuteron is disintegrated in the experiments to measure the properties of individual nucleons. Under the VMD model and the assumption of dipole gravitational form factor, we determined the loosely bound neutron and proton mass radii to be $0.795\pm0.092\rm(stat.)\pm0.073\rm(syst.)$ fm and $0.744\pm0.029\rm(stat.)\pm0.042\rm(syst.)$ fm respectively from the near-threshold data of $γd \rightarrow ωn (p)$ and $γd \rightarrow ωp (n)$, for the first time. With the near-threshold and incoherent $ϕ$ photoproduction data of $γd \rightarrow ϕp n$, we determined the average mass radius of the bound nucleon (neutron or proton) inside the deuteron to be $0.755\pm0.039\rm(stat.)\pm0.039\rm(syst.)$ fm, for the first time. For a comparison study, we also extracted the mass radius of the free proton from the $ω$ photoproduction on the hydrogen target by CBELSA/TAPS collaboration. Based on our analysis results under the assumptions of VMD model and a low energy QCD theorem, we find that the neutron mass radius is consistent with the proton mass radius within the current statistical uncertainties, and that the nuclear modification on the nucleon mass radius is small inside the deuteron.

Transverse momentum distributions of valence quark in light and heavy vector mesons

We study the leading-twist time-reversal even transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) of light and heavy vector mesons, i.e., the $ρ$, $J/ψ$ and $Υ$. We employ the leading Fock-state light front wave functions (LF-LFWFs) of $ρ$ and $J/ψ$ from our recent study, and supplement with $Υ$'s LF-LFWFs. These LF-LFWFs are extracted from dynamically solved Bethe-Salpeter wave functions. The vector meson TMDs are then studied with the light front overlap representation at leading Fock-state. All the obtained TMDs are non-vanishing and evolve with current quark mass, in particular the tensor polarized TMDs $f_{1LT}$ and $f_{1TT}$ which undergo a sign flip. The $ρ$ TMDs are compared with other model studies and agreement is found, aside from $f_{1LT}$ and $f_{1TT}$. Finally, the collinear PDFs of vector mesons are studied. The $ρ$'s valence PDFs $f_{1,v}(x)$ and $g_{1L,v}(x)$ are evolved to the scale of 2.4 GeV, with their first three moments compared to lattice QCD prediction. The qualitative behavior of tensor polarized PDF $f_{1LL}(x)$ in $ρ$ at large $x$ is also discussed.

Drag force on a moving heavy quark with deformed string configuration

To study drag force on a moving heavy quark through a plasma, we use a deformed AdS space-time, in which deformation parameter $c$ describes non-conformality in AdS/QCD. In this case the quark is mapped to a probe string in the AdS space. Considering probable contribution of deformation parameter in the probe string, we apply a general form of c-dependent string ansatz in the drag force computation. Then we find the acceptable value of this parameter as it satisfies QCD calculations. Using this result, we also discuss diffusion constant which is in agreement with phenomenological result for non-relativistic limit. Also we show that while in absence of deformation parameter, probe string is a strictly increasing function of radial coordinate, the c-dependent probe string has a maximum value versus $z$.

JUNO Physics and Detector

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a 20 kton LS detector at 700-m underground. An excellent energy resolution and a large fiducial volume offer exciting opportunities for addressing many important topics in neutrino and astro-particle physics. With 6 years of data, the neutrino mass ordering can be determined at 3-4 sigma and three oscillation parameters can be measured to a precision of 0.6% or better by detecting reactor antineutrinos. With 10 years of data, DSNB could be observed at 3-sigma; a lower limit of the proton lifetime of 8.34e33 years (90% C.L.) can be set by searching for p->nu_bar K^+; detection of solar neutrinos would shed new light on the solar metallicity problem and examine the vacuum-matter transition region. A core-collapse supernova at 10 kpc would lead to ~5000 IBD and ~2000 (300) all-flavor neutrino-proton (electron) scattering events. Geo-neutrinos can be detected with a rate of ~400 events/year. We also summarize the final design of the JUNO detector and the key R&D achievements. All 20-inch PMTs have been tested. The average photon detection efficiency is 28.9% for the 15,000 MCP PMTs and 28.1% for the 5,000 dynode PMTs, higher than the JUNO requirement of 27%. Together with the >20 m attenuation length of LS, we expect a yield of 1345 p.e. per MeV and an effective energy resolution of 3.02%/\sqrt{E (MeV)}$ in simulations. The underwater electronics is designed to have a loss rate <0.5% in 6 years. With degassing membranes and a micro-bubble system, the radon concentration in the 35-kton water pool could be lowered to <10 mBq/m^3. Acrylic panels of radiopurity <0.5 ppt U/Th are produced. The 20-kton LS will be purified onsite. Singles in the fiducial volume can be controlled to ~10 Hz. The JUNO experiment also features a double calorimeter system with 25,600 3-inch PMTs, a LS testing facility OSIRIS, and a near detector TAO.

Tackling the kaon structure function at EicC

Measuring the kaon structure beyond the proton and pion structures is one of the hot topics in hadron physics, as it is one way to understand the nature of Nambu-Goldstone boson of QCD and to see the interplay between the EHM mechanism and the HB mechanism for hadron mass generation. In this paper, we present a simulation of the leading $Λ$ baryon tagged deep inelastic scattering experiment at EicC (Electron-ion collider in China), which is engaged to unveil the internal structure of kaon through Sullivan process. According to our simulation results, the suggested experiment will cover the kinematical domain of $0.05\lesssim x_{\rm K} \lesssim 0.85$ and $Q^2$ up to 50 GeV$^2$, with the acceptable statistical uncertainties. In the relatively low-$Q^2$ region ($<10$ GeV$^2$), the Monte-Carlo simulation shows a good precision of the measurement ($<5$\%) for the kaon structure function $F_2^{\rm K}$. In the high-$Q^2$ region (up to 50 GeV$^2$), the statistical uncertainty of $F_2^{\rm K}$ is also acceptable ($<10$\%) for the data at $x_{\rm K}<0.8$. To perform such an experiment at an electron-ion collider, a high-performance zero-degree calorimeter is required.

The Mass of Short-Range Correlated Nucleon

The nucleon properties and structure should be modified by short-range correlations (SRC) among nucleons. By analyzing SRC ratio data, we extract the mass of nucleon in the SRC pair and the expected number of pn-SRC pairs in deuterium, under the assumption that the SRC nucleon mass is universal in different nuclei. The nucleon mass of a two-nucleon SRC pair is $m_{\text{SRC}}=852\pm 18$ MeV, and the number of pn-SRC pairs in deuterium is $n^{\text{d}}_{\text{SRC}}=0.021\pm 0.005$. The mass deficit of the strongly overlapping nucleon can be explained by the trace anomaly contribution to the mass in QCD or alternatively by the vacuum energy in the MIT bag model.

A Sterile Neutrino Search at compact materials irradiation facility

The compact material irradiation facility (CMIF) is a current project in China that will provide a compact deuteron-beryllium neutron source. The target of this facility will be an intense and compact Isotope Decay-At-Rest (IsoDAR) neutrino source. In this paper, we propose to test the sterile neutrino hypothesis using CMIF as the neutrino source. At CMIF platform, the electron antineutrino production rate can be up to $2.0\times 10^{19}$ per day. When paired with an 80 t liquid scintillator detector to study short baseline electron antineutrino disappearance, the inverse beta decay (IBD) event rate is large enough to investigate the parameter ranges of interest for neutrino anomalies. Our sensitivity analysis shows that a short baseline experiment at this platform will provide a very competitive sterile neutrino search, especially in the high-$Δm^2$ region ($Δm^2 >10\,\text{eV}^2$).

Discovery potential for the LHCb fully-charm tetraquark $X(6900)$ state via $\bar{p}p$ annihilation reaction

Inspired by the observation of the fully-charm tetraquark $X(6900)$ state at LHCb, the production of $X(6900)$ in $\bar{p}p\rightarrow J/ψJ/ψ$ reaction is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach and Breit-Wigner formula. The numerical results show that the cross section of $X(6900)$ at the c.m. energy of 6.9 GeV is much larger than that from the background contribution. Moreover, we estimate dozens of signal events can be detected by D0 experiment, which indicates that searching for the $X(6900)$ via antiproton-proton scattering may be a very important and promising way. Therefore, related experiments are suggested to be carried out.

Estimation of $Υ$(1S) production in ep process near threshold

The near-threshold photo-productions of heavy quarkonia are important ways to test the QCD-inspired models and to constrain the gluon distribution of nucleon in the large x region. Investigating the various models, we choose a photon-gluon fusion model and a pomeron exchange model for J/$Ψ$ photo-production near threshold, emphasising on the explanation of the recent experimental measurement by GlueX at JLab. We find that these two models are not only valid in a wide range of the center-of-mass energy of $γ$ and proton, but also can be generalized to describe the $Υ$(1S) photo-production. Using these two models, we predict the electro-production cross-sections of $Υ$(1S) at EicC to be 48 fb to 85 fb at the center-of-mass energy of 16.75 GeV.

Feasibility and physics potential of detecting $^8$B solar neutrinos at JUNO

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory~(JUNO) features a 20~kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent experiment for $^8$B solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, its high energy resolution compared to water Cherenkov detectors, and its much large target mass compared to previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting $^8$B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process. A reduced 2~MeV threshold on the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable assuming the intrinsic radioactive background $^{238}$U and $^{232}$Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10$^{-17}$~g/g. With ten years of data taking, about 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected. This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter, which will shed new light on the tension between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework. If $Δm^{2}_{21}=4.8\times10^{-5}~(7.5\times10^{-5})$~eV$^{2}$, JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at the about 3$σ$~(2$σ$) level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle. Moveover, JUNO can simultaneously measure $Δm^2_{21}$ using $^8$B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20\% or better depending on the central value and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos. A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help elucidate the current tension between the value of $Δm^2_{21}$ reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment.

Systematic study on production of hidden-bottom pentaquark via $γp$ and $π^{-}p$ scatterings

The production of hidden-bottom pentaquark $P_{b}$ states via $γp$ and $π^{-}p$ scatterings is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach and the vector-meson-dominance mechnism. For the $P_{b}$ production in the process $γp\rightarrow Υp$, the dipole Pomeron model is employed to calculate the background contribution, and the experimental data can be well described. For the process $π^{-}p\rightarrow Υn$, the Reggeized $t$-channel with $π$ exchange is considered as the main background for the $P_{b}$ production. Near the threshold, two-peak structure from the states $P_{b (11080)$ and $P_{b}(11125)$ can be observed if energy bin width is chosen as 0.01 GeV, and the same result is obtained in the $π^{-}p$ scattering. Moreover, by taking the branching ratio of Br$[{P_{b}\rightarrow πN}]\simeq 0.05\%$, the numerical result shows that the average value of cross section from the $P_{b}(11080)$ state produced in the $γp$ or $π^{-}p$ scattering reaches at least 0.1 nb with a bin of 0.1 GeV. Even if we reduce the branching ratio of the $P_{b}$ state into $πN$ channel by one order, the theoretical average of the cross section from $P_{b}(11080)$ production in $π^{-}p$ scattering can reach the order of 0.01 nb with a bin of 0.1 GeV, which means that the signal can still be clearly distinguished from the background. The experimental measurements and studies on the hidden-bottom pentaquark $P_{b}$ state production in the $γp $ or $π^{-}p$ scattering near-threshold energy region around $W\simeq 11$ GeV are strongly suggested, which are accessible at COMPASS and JPARC. Particularly, the result of the photoproduction suggests that it is very promising to observe the hidden-bottom pentaquark at proposed EicC facility in China.

TAO Conceptual Design Report: A Precision Measurement of the Reactor Antineutrino Spectrum with Sub-percent Energy Resolution

The Taishan Antineutrino Observatory (TAO, also known as JUNO-TAO) is a satellite experiment of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). A ton-level liquid scintillator detector will be placed at about 30 m from a core of the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant. The reactor antineutrino spectrum will be measured with sub-percent energy resolution, to provide a reference spectrum for future reactor neutrino experiments, and to provide a benchmark measurement to test nuclear databases. A spherical acrylic vessel containing 2.8 ton gadolinium-doped liquid scintillator will be viewed by 10 m^2 Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) of >50% photon detection efficiency with almost full coverage. The photoelectron yield is about 4500 per MeV, an order higher than any existing large-scale liquid scintillator detectors. The detector operates at -50 degree C to lower the dark noise of SiPMs to an acceptable level. The detector will measure about 2000 reactor antineutrinos per day, and is designed to be well shielded from cosmogenic backgrounds and ambient radioactivities to have about 10% background-to-signal ratio. The experiment is expected to start operation in 2022.

The Origin of Proton Mass from J/${\rm Ψ}$ Photo-production Data

The trace of the stress tensor characterizes the transformation of a theory under rescaling. In quantum chromodynamics (QCD), this trace contains contributions from the bare masses of the quarks and also from a purely quantum effect, called the QCD trace anomaly. It affects all masses in the theory. We present an estimation of the QCD trace anomaly from the near-threshold J/${\rm Ψ}$ photo-production data of the GlueX experiment, at JLab. We apply a vector meson dominance model to describe the photo-production of J/${\rm Ψ}$ and a running strong coupling which includes the nonperturbative effects in the low $μ^2$ region. Despite the large uncertainty, we find that the experimental data favors a small value of the trace anomaly parameter $b=0.07\pm 0.17$. We report the resulting proton mass decompositions at $μ^2=0.41$ GeV$^2$ and $μ^2=4$ GeV$^2$.

$\bar{K}$ -induced formation of the $f_2(1270)$ and $f_2^{'}(1525)$ resonances on proton targets

We investigate the productiong of $f_2(1270)$ and $f_2^{'}(1525)$ mesons in the $K^{-}p\toΛf_2(1270)$,$K^{-}p\toΛf^{'}_2(1525)$ and $K^{-}p\to{}K^{+}K^{-}Λ$ reactions within an effective Lagrangian approach. For $K^{-}p\to{}f_2Λ$ reaction, by considering the contributions from the $t$-channel $K^{+}$ exchange and $u$-channel nucleon pole, we get a fairly good description of the experimental measurements about the total and differential cross sections. Based on the studies of the $K^{-}p\to{}f_2Λ$ reaction, we investigate $K^{-}p\to{}K^{+}K^{-}Λ$ reaction including the contributions from the $f_2(1270)$ and $f'_2(1525)$ mesons decaying into $K^+K^-$ pair. The total cross sections and invariant mass distribution of the $K p \to K^+K^- Λ$ reaction are predicted. The results can be tested in future experiments and therefore offer new clues on the nature of these tensor states.

Photoproduction of hidden-charm states in the $γp \to \bar{D}^{*0} Λ^+_c$ reaction near threshold

We report on a theoretical study of the hidden charm $N^*_{c \bar{c}}$ states in the $γp \to \bar{D}^{*0} Λ^+_c$ reaction near threshold within an effective Lagrangian approach. In addition to the contributions from the $s$-channel nucleon pole, the $t$-channel $D^0$ exchange, the $u$-channel $Λ^+_c$ exchange and the contact term, we study the contributions from the $N^*_{c \bar{c}}$ states with spin-parity $J^P = 1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$. The total and differential cross sections of the $γp \to \bar{D}^{*0} Lambda^+_c$ reaction are predicted. It is found that the contributions of these $N^*_{c \bar{c}}$ states give clear peak structures in the total cross sections. Thus, this reaction is another new platform to study the hidden-charm states. It is expected that our model calculation may be tested by the future experiments.

The $ J/ψ$ production in PbPb ultraperipheral collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76\mathrm{TeV}$

We calculate the coherent and incoherent production of $J/ψ$ in PbPb ultraperipheral collisions. The production of $J/ψ$ in ultraperipheral collsions is product of photon flux distributions and cross section of photon-nucleus scatterings. The distributions of photon flux is computed in light-cone perturbation theory and the cross section of photon-nucleus scatterings is calculated in dipole model, we assume that the two gluons exchange contribution is the coherent cross section and the large-$N_c$ contribution is the incoherent cross section in photon-nucleus scattering. The $Ξ^* \bar{K}$ and $Ωη$ interaction within a chiral unitary approach

In this work we study the interaction of the coupled channels $Ωη$ and $Ξ^* \bar{K}$ within the chiral unitary approach. The systems under consideration have total isospins $0$, strangeness $S = -3$, and spin $3/2$. We studied the $s$ wave interaction which implies that the possible resonances generated in the system can have spin-parity $J^P = 3/2^-$. The unitary amplitudes in coupled channels develop poles that can be associated with some known baryonic resonances. We find there is a dynamically generated $3/2^-$ $Ω$ state with mass around $1800$ MeV, which is in agreement with the predictions of the five-quark model.

A determination of the flavor asymmetric sea quarks in the proton

Using DGLAP evolution equation with the corrections of parton recombinations, the flavor asymmetric sea quark distributions in the proton are first extracted from the available experimental data with the global QCD analysis method. Comparisons of our predictions to the CTEQ, MRS, and GRV parton distribution functions for sea quarks are presented. Based on the separation of the flavor symmetric and asymmetric sea, the possible relations between strange quark distribution and symmetric light quark distribution are discussed. The results are used to explain the recent HERMES result of the strange quark distribution.

Extend the Kompaneets Equation to Down-Comptonization Process in a Novel Way

Comptonization is a very important phenomenon in astrophysics. Kompaneets equation describes up-Comptonization process in nonrelativistic astrophysics, while it fails for down-Comptonization Scattering which is the most important radiative transfer process in hard X-rays and $γ$-rays astronomy. In this study, we explore both up-Comptonization and down-Comptonization processes. A new relativistic corrections is introduced to the Kompaneets equation which is valid in both nonrelativistic energy regime with the photon energy $hν<< m_ec^2$ and the electron temperature $KT_e << m_ec^2$. Numerical comparisons are presented which show excellent agreement between the Kompaneets equation and the new equation.

IsoDAR Neutrino Experiment Simulation with Proton and Deuteron Beams

In this paper we consider high-intensity source of electron antineutrinos from the production and subsequent decay of 8Li. It opens a wide range of possible searches for beyond standard model physics via studies of the inverse beta decay interaction. In IsoDAR experiments Lithium 8 is a short lived beta emitter producing a high intensity anti-neutrinos, which is very suitable for making several important neutrino experiments. In this paper we used the GEANT4 program. to simulate neutrino production using proton and deuteron beams. We find that the neutrino production rate is about 3 times from deuteron beam than from proton beam in low energy region.

Nuclear force and the EMC effect

A linear correlation is shown quantitatively between the magnitude of the EMC effect measured in electron deep inelastic scattering (DIS) and the nuclear residual strong interaction energy (RSIE) obtained from nuclear binding energy subtracting the Coulomb energy contribution. This phenomenological relationship is used to extract the size of in-medium correction (IMC) effect on deuteron and to predict the EMC slopes $|dR_{EMC}/dx|$ of various nuclei. We further investigate the correlations between RSIE and other quantities which are related to the EMC effect. The observed correlations among RSIE, EMC slope and SRC ratio $R_{2N}N_{total}/N_{np(^3S_1)}$ imply that the local nuclear environment drives the modification of quark distributions.

Valence quark distributions of the proton from maximum entropy approach

We present an attempt of maximum entropy principle to determine valence quark distributions in the proton at very low resolution scale $Q_0^2$. The initial three valence quark distributions are obtained with limited dynamical information from quark model and QCD theory. Valence quark distributions from this method are compared to the lepton deep inelastic scattering data, and the widely used CT10 and MSTW08 data sets. The obtained valence quark distributions are consistent with experimental observations and the latest global fits of PDFs. Maximum entropy method is expected to be particularly useful in the case where relatively little information from QCD calculation is given.

Applications of a nonlinear evolution equation I: the parton distributions in the proton

The parton distributions in the proton are evaluated dynamically using a nonlinear QCD evolution equation - the DGLAP equation with twist-4 (the GLR-MQ-ZSR) corrections - starting from a low scale $μ^2$, where the nucleon consists of valence quarks. We find that the negative nonlinear corrections can improve the perturbative stability of the QCD evolution equation at low $Q^2$. Our resulting parton distributions of the proton with four free parameters are compatible with the existing databases. We show that the sea quark distributions exhibit a positive and flattish behavior at small $x$ and low $Q^2$. This approach provides a powerful tool to connect the quark models of the hadron and various non-perturbative effects on them at scale $μ^2$ with the measured structure functions at high scale $Q^2>> μ^2$.

Applications of a nonlinear evolution equation II: the EMC effect

The EMC effect is studied by using the GLR-MQ-ZSR equation with minimum number of free parameters, where the nuclear shadowing effect is a dynamical evolution result of the equation, and nucleon swelling and Fermi motion in the nuclear environment deform the input parton distributions. Parton distributions of both proton and nucleus are predicted in a unified framework. We show that the parton recombination as a higher twist correction plays an essential role in the evolution of parton distributions either of proton or nucleus. We find that the nuclear antishadowing contributes a part of enhancement of the ratio of the structure functions around $x\sim 0.1$, while the other part origins from the deformation of the nuclear valence quark distributions. We point out that the nuclear shadowing and antishadowing effects in the gluon distribution are not stronger than that in the quark distributions.

The $R_{uds}$ value in the vicinity of $ψ(3770)$ state

The anomalous line shape of the $ψ(3770)$ state has resulted in some difficulty in the determination of the $R$ value for the continuum light hadron production in the resonance energy range. We parameterize the asymmetric line shape using a Fano-type formula and extract the $R_{uds}$ value to be $2.156\pm 0.022$ from the data of BESIII Collaboration in the energy region between 3.650 and 3.872 GeV. The small discrepancy between experiment and theory is removed. The cross sections of the $e^+e^- \rightarrow hadrons$ are given by subtracting the part of continuum light hadron production and are compared to the data of the $e^+e^- \rightarrow D\bar{D}$ reaction.

The study of $U$-boson from $π^{0}$-meson decays at HIAF energy

Within the frame of LDM (light dark matter)-model, the LDM exchange particle $U$-boson (with mass 10-100 MeV) can be produced from many meson decay process so it attracts a lot of attention. Considering the merit of searching the $U$-boson from $π^{0}$ decay, the momentum spectra of light spin-1 vector $U$-boson from decay channel $π^{0}\rightarrow γU$ and the energy spectra of positron decay from $U\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}$ at beam energy of 5-10 GeV are first presented by using a relativistic transport (ART) model. Moreover, the feasibility and rationality of searching the $U$-boson in the experiment at HIAF energy are discussed, which will be an important promotion to understand and ultimately detect the $U$-boson, both in theory and experiment.

Sudakov Factor in the Deep Inelastic Scattering of a Current off a Large Nucleus

We consider a gedanken experiment of the scattering of a current off a large nucleus to study the gluon saturation at the small-x limit and compute the Sudakov factor of this process through a one-loop calculation. The differential cross section is expressed in term of the Sudakov resummation, in which the collinear and the rapidity divergences are subtracted. We also discuss how to probe the Weizsaecker-Williams (WW) gluon distribution in the process of photon pair production in the pA collisions.

Pion productions by proton and Helium-3 on Au197 target at beam energies of 2.8, 5, 10 and 16.587 GeV/nucleon

Based on a Relativistic Boltzmann-Uehling- Uhlenbeck transport model, proton and $^{3}$He induced reactions on $^{197}$Au target at beam energies of 2.8, 5, 10 and 16.587 GeV/nucleon are studied. It is found that compared with proton induced reactions, $^{3}$He induced reactions give larger cross sections of pion production, about 5 times those of the proton induced reactions. And more importantly, pion production from $^{3}$He induced reaction is more inclined to low-angle emission. Neutrino production via positively charged pion is also discussed accordingly.
