Single-quark electromagnetic form factors of charmonium up to J=2J=2

We calculate the single-quark electromagnetic form factors of a broad subset of charmonium, including ηc(1S)η_c(1S), ηc(2S)η_c(2S), χc0(1P)χ_{c0}(1P), χc0(2P)χ_{c0}(2P), J/ψ(1S)J/ψ(1S), J/ψ(2S)J/ψ(2S), χc1(1P)χ_{c1}(1P), χc1(2P)χ_{c1}(2P), hc(1P)h_c(1P), hc(2P)h_c(2P), χc2(1P)χ_{c2}(1P) and χc2(2P)χ_{c2}(2P), via a relativized quark model. The reference frame dependence of the results is estimated as the computational error. We compare our results with those of the lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD), the Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) and the basis light front quantization (BLFQ) approaches where available and we find that most of our results agree with the other results. We also predict the single-quark electromagnetic form factors of χc0(2P)χ_{c0}(2P), χc1(2P)χ_{c1}(2P), hc(1P)h_c(1P), hc(2P)h_c(2P), χc2(1P)χ_{c2}(1P) and χc2(2P)χ_{c2}(2P), where no direct comparisons are available.

Mass spectra and strong decays of charmed and charmed-strange mesons

A semi-relativistic potential model is adopted to calculate the mass spectra of charmed and charmed-strange meson states up to the 2D2D excitations. The strong decay properties are further analyzed with a chiral quark model by using the numerical wave functions obtained from the potential model. By using the strong decay amplitudes extracted from the chiral quark model, we also systematically study the coupled-channel effects on the bare masses of the 1P1P-wave states, since the masses of Ds0∗(2317)D^*_{s0}(2317) and Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460) cannot be explained with bare 1P1P-wave states within the potential model. Based on our good descriptions of the mass and decay properties for the low-lying well-established states, we give a quark model classification for the high mass resonances observed in recent years. In the DD-meson family, D0(2550)D_0(2550) can be classified as the radially excited state D(21S0)D(2^1S_0); D3∗(2750)D_3^*(2750) and D2(2740)D_2(2740) can be classified as the second orbital excitations D(13D3)D(1^3D_3) and D(1D2′)D(1D'_2), respectively; DJ∗(3000)D_J^*(3000) may be a candidate of D(13F4)D(1^3F_4) or D(23P2)D(2^3P_2); while DJ(3000)D_J(3000) may favor the high mass mixed state D(2P1′)D(2P'_1); however, there still exist puzzles for understanding the natures of D1∗(2600)D_1^*(2600) and D1∗(2760)D_1^*(2760), whose decay properties cannot be well explained with either pure D(23S1)D(2^3S_1) and D(13D1)D(1^3D_1) states or their mixing. In the DsD_s-meson family, Ds3∗(2860)D_{s3}^*(2860) favors the Ds(13D3)D_s(1^3D_3) assignment; Ds1∗(2700)D_{s1}^*(2700) and Ds1∗(2860)D_{s1}^*(2860) may favor the mixed states ∣(SD)1⟩L|(SD)_1\rangle_L and ∣(SD)1⟩H|(SD)_1\rangle_H via the 23S12^3S_1-13D11^3D_1 mixing, respectively; DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040) may favor Ds(2P1)D_s(2P_1) or Ds(2P1′)D_s(2P_1'), or corresponds to a structure contributed by both Ds(2P1)D_s(2P_1) and Ds(2P1′)D_s(2P_1').

The 1D1D-wave bottom-strange baryons and possible interpretation of Ξb(6327)0Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} and Ξb(6333)0Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}

Inspired by the LHCb's newest observation of two new excited Ξb0Ξ_b^0 states, we systematically study the strong decays of the low-lying λλ- and ρρ-modes 1D1D-wave ΞbΞ_{b} and Ξb′Ξ^{'}_{b} baryons using the chiral quark model within the jj-jj coupling scheme. Based on the measured masses and strong decay properties of Ξb(6327)0Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} and Ξb(6333)0Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}, we explain the two states as the λλ-mode 1D1D ΞbΞ_{b} states with JP=3/2+ J^{P}=3/2^{+} and JP=5/2+ J^{P}=5/2^{+} , respectively. Moreover, under this assignment, another dominant decay channel of Ξb(6327)0Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} is Ξb′πΞ'_bπ and that of Ξb(6333)0Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0} is Ξb∗πΞ_b^*π. Hence, the decay modes Ξb′πΞ'_bπ and Ξb∗πΞ_b^*π may be another ideal channels as well to decode the inner structure of Ξb(6327)0Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} and Ξb(6333)0Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}, respectively. For other unseen 1D1D ΞbΞ_b and Ξb′Ξ'_b states, our results indicate: (i) Ξb∣JP=32+,2⟩ρΞ_b|J^P=\frac{3}{2}^+,2\rangle_ρ and Ξb∣JP=52+,2⟩ρΞ_b|J^P=\frac{5}{2}^+,2\rangle_ρ are most likely to be narrow states with a width of Γ≃(12−30)Γ\simeq(12-30) MeV, and dominantly decay into ΣbKΣ_bK and Σb∗KΣ^*_bK, respectively; (ii) The 1D1D Ξb′Ξ'_b baryons are not broad states, and the widths vary in the range of Γ≃(14−46)Γ\simeq(14-46) MeV. These states have a good potential to be observed in their dominant decay processes.

The strong decays of the low-lying ρρ-mode 1P1P-wave singly heavy baryons

We have systematically calculated the strong decays of the low-lying ρρ-mode 1P1P-wave Λc(b)Λ_{c(b)}, Σc(b)Σ_{c(b)}, Ξc(b)Ξ_{c(b)}, Ξc(b)′Ξ^{'}_{c(b)}, Ωc(b)Ω_{c(b)} baryons using the chiral quark model within the jj-jj coupling scheme. For the controversial states, our results indicate: (i) For the singly charmed heavy baryons, the newly observed Λc(2910)+Λ_{c}(2910)^+ is a good candidate of the JP=5/2−J^P=5/2^- state Λc∣JP=52−,2⟩ρΛ_c|J^{P}=\frac{5}{2}^{-},2\rangle_ρ. (ii) For the singly bottom heavy baryons, the Ξb(6227)−Ξ_{b}(6227)^- favors the JP=5/2−J^{P}=5/2^{-} state Ξb∣JP=52−,2⟩ρΞ_{b}|J^{P}=\frac{5}{2}^{-},2\rangle_ρ. (iii) The other missing ρρ-mode 1P1P-wave excitations in ΛbΛ_{b}, Σc(b)Σ_{c(b)} and Ξc(b)′Ξ^{'}_{c(b)} families appear to be broad structures with ΓΓ∼\sim(100-200) MeV, and their strong decay widths are sensitive to their masses. (iv) The ρρ-mode 1P1P-wave Ξc(b)Ξ_{c(b)} and Ωc(b)Ω_{c(b)} baryons have a relatively narrow decay width of a few MeV or a few tens of MeV, and have a good potential to be observed in forthcoming experiments.

Toward establishing the low-lying PP-wave excited ΣcΣ_c baryon states

In this study, by combining the equal spacing rule with recent observations of Ωc(X)Ω_c(X) and Ξc(X)Ξ_c(X) baryons, we predict the spectrum of the low-lying λλ-mode 1P1P-wave excited ΣcΣ_c states. Furthermore, their strong decay properties are predicted using the chiral quark model and the nature of Σc(2800)Σ_c(2800) is investigated by analyzing the ΛcπΛ_cπ invariant mass spectrum. The Σc(2800)Σ_c(2800) structure observed in the ΛcπΛ_c π mass spectrum was found to potentially arise from two overlapping PP-wave ΣcΣ_c resonances, Σc(2813)3/2−Σ_c(2813)3/2^- and Σc(2840)5/2−Σ_c(2840)5/2^-. These resonances have similar decay widths of Γ∼40Γ\sim 40 MeV and predominantly decay into the ΛcπΛ_c π channel. The Σc(2755)1/2−Σ_c(2755)1/2^- state is likely to be a very narrow state with a width of Γ∼15Γ\sim 15 MeV, with its decays almost saturated by the ΛcπΛ_c π channel. Additionally, evidence of the Σc(2755)12−Σ_c(2755)\frac{1}{2}^- resonance as a very narrow peak may be seen in the ΛcπΛ_cπ invariant mass spectrum. The other two PP-wave states, Σc(2746)12−Σ_c(2746)\frac{1}{2}^- and Σc(2796)32−Σ_c(2796)\frac{3}{2}^-, are relatively narrow states with similar widths of Γ∼30Γ\sim 30 MeV and predominantly decay into ΣcπΣ_cπ and Σc∗πΣ^{*}_cπ, respectively. We hope our study can provide useful references for discovering these low-lying PP-wave states in forthcoming experiments.

Higher mass spectra of the fully-charmed and fully-bottom tetraquarks

In this work, we calculate the higher mass spectra for the 2S2S- and 1D1D-wave fully-charmed and fully-bottom tetraquark states in a nonrelativistic potential quark model. The 2S2S-wave fully-charmed/bottom tetraquark states lie in the mass range of ∼(6.9,7.1)\sim (6.9,7.1)/(19.7,19.9)(19.7,19.9) GeV, apart for the highest 0++0^{++} state T(cccˉcˉ)0++(7185)T_{(cc\bar{c}\bar{c})0^{++}}(7185)/ T(bbbˉbˉ)0++(19976)T_{(bb\bar{b}\bar{b})0^{++}}(19976). Most of the 2S2S-wave states highly overlap with the high-lying 1P1P-wave states. The masses for the 1D1D-wave fully-charmed/bottom tetraquarks are predicted to be in the range of ∼(6.7,7.2)/(19.5,20.0)\sim (6.7,7.2)/(19.5,20.0) GeV. The mass range for the DD-wave tetraquark states cover most of the mass range of the PP-wave states and the whole mass range of the 2S2S-wave states. The narrow structure X(6900)X(6900) recently observed at LHCb in the di-J/ψJ/ψ invariant mass spectrum may be caused by the 1P1P-, or 2S2S-, or 1D1D-wave TcccˉcˉT_{cc\bar{c}\bar{c}} states. The vague structure X(7200)X(7200) may be caused by the highest 2S2S-wave state T(cccˉcˉ)0++(7185)T_{(cc\bar{c}\bar{c})0^{++}}(7185), two low-lying 3S3S-wave states T(cccˉcˉ)0++(7240)T_{(cc\bar{c}\bar{c})0^{++}}(7240) and T(cccˉcˉ)2++(7248)T_{(cc\bar{c}\bar{c})2^{++}}(7248), and/or the high-lying 1D1D-wave states with masses around 7.2 GeV and JPC=0++,1++,2++,3++J^{PC}=0^{++},1^{++},2^{++},3^{++}, or 4++4^{++}. While it is apparent that the potential quark model calculations predict more states than the structures observed in the di-J/ψJ/ψ invariant mass spectrum, our calculations will help further understanding of the properties of these fully-heavy tetraquark states in their strong and magnetic interactions with open channels based on explicit quark model wave functions.

All-heavy tetraquarks

In this work we study the mass spectra of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems, i.e. cccˉcˉcc\bar{c}\bar{c}, bbbˉbˉbb\bar{b}\bar{b}, bbcˉcˉ/ccbˉbˉbb\bar{c}\bar{c}/cc\bar{b}\bar{b}, bccˉcˉ/ccbˉcˉbc\bar{c}\bar{c}/cc\bar{b}\bar{c}, bcbˉbˉ/bbbˉcˉbc\bar{b}\bar{b}/bb\bar{b}\bar{c}, and bcbˉcˉbc\bar{b}\bar{c}, within a potential model by including the linear confining potential, Coulomb potential, and spin-spin interactions. It shows that the linear confining potential has important contributions to the masses and is crucial for our understanding of the mass spectra of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems. For the fully-heavy tetraquarks Q1Q2Qˉ3Qˉ4Q_1Q_2\bar{Q}_3\bar{Q}_4 our explicit calculations suggest that no bound states can be formed below the thresholds of any meson pairs (Q1Qˉ3)(Q_1\bar{Q}_3)-(Q2Qˉ4)(Q_2\bar{Q}_4) or (Q1Qˉ4)(Q_1\bar{Q}_4)-(Q2Qˉ3)(Q_2\bar{Q}_3). Thus, we do not expect narrow fully-heavy tetraquark states to be existing in experiments.

Possible interpretation of the newly observed ΩbΩ_b states

Inspired by the newly observed ΩbΩ_b states by the LHCb Collaboration, we investigate the two-body strong decays of the low-lying λλ-mode ΩbΩ_b baryons up to N=2N=2 shell using the chiral quark model within the jj-jj coupling scheme. Our results indicate that: (i) the newly observed states Ωb(6316)−Ω_b(6316)^- and Ωb(6330)−Ω_b(6330)^- are good candidates of the light spin j=1j=1 states, while the spin-parity JP=1/2−J^P=1/2^- and JP=3/2−J^P=3/2^- cannot be distinguished. The other two states, Ωb(6340)Ω_b(6340) and Ωb(6350)Ω_b(6350) mostly correspond to the light spin j=2j=2 states, while the spin-parity JP=3/2−J^P=3/2^- and JP=5/2−J^P=5/2^- cannot be distinguished as well.(ii) The 2S2S states with spin-parity JP=1/2+J^P=1/2^+ and JP=3/2+J^P=3/2^+, respectively, might be narrow states with a width of Γ<2Γ<2 MeV. (iii) The 1D1D states are not broad and the total decay widths vary from several to dozens of MeV, which have a good potential to be observed in future experiments.

Strong decays of the higher excited ΛQΛ_Q and ΣQΣ_Q baryons

In this work, we preform a systematic study of the strong decays for the higher singly heavy baryon resonances ΛQ(3S)Λ_Q(3S), ΛQ(2P)Λ_Q(2P), ΛQ(2D)Λ_Q(2D), ΛQ(1F)Λ_Q(1F), ΣQ(3S)Σ_Q(3S), ΣQ(2P)Σ_Q(2P), ΣQ(2D)Σ_Q(2D), and ΣQ(1F)Σ_Q(1F) within the 3P0^3P_0 model. Our results show that most of the λ−λ-mode higher excited ΛQΛ_Q and ΣQΣ_Q states have a relatively narrow width, and mainly decay into two-body final states with one heavy meson plus one light baryon. Our calculations provide abundant theoretical information and demonstrate the general feature for these higher states, which may be valuable for future experimental searches and establishing the singly heavy baryon spectrum.

Toward establishing the low-lying PP-wave ΣbΣ_b states

In the present work, we analyze the PP-wave singly-heavy baryon spectrum belonging to 6F\mathbf{6}_F by combining the observations of the heavy baryon states, and restudy the strong decays of the 1P1P wave ΣbΣ_b states within the jj-jj coupling scheme using the chiral quark model. We obtain that: (i) the structure Σb(6097)Σ_b(6097) observed in the ΛbπΛ_bπ final state may arise from the overlapping of Σb∣JP=32−,2⟩Σ_b|J^P=\frac{3}{2}^-,2\rangle and Σb∣JP=52−,2⟩Σ_b|J^P=\frac{5}{2}^-,2\rangle. (ii) The broad structure Σb(6072)Σ_b(6072) observed in the ΛbππΛ_bππ final state may arise from the overlapping of Σb∣JP=12−,1⟩Σ_b|J^P=\frac{1}{2}^-,1\rangle and Σb∣JP=32−,1⟩Σ_b|J^P=\frac{3}{2}^-,1\rangle. (iii) The missing state Σb∣JP=12−,0⟩Σ_b|J^P=\frac{1}{2}^-,0\rangle is most likely to be a narrow state with a width of Γ∼10Γ\sim10 MeV, and mainly decays into ΛbπΛ_bπ channel.

Understanding the newly observed Ξc0Ξ_c^0 states through their decays

Inspired by the newly observed Ξc0Ξ_c^0 states by the LHCb Collaboration, we investigate the OZI-allowed two-body strong decays of the λλ-mode 1P1P wave Ξc′Ξ'_c states within the chiral quark model. Our results indicate that: (i) the newly observed states Ξc(2923)0Ξ_c(2923)^0 and Ξc(2939)0Ξ_c(2939)^0 are good candidates of the λλ-mode 1P1P wave Ξc′Ξ'_c states with the spin-parity JP=3/2−J^P=3/2^-, namely ∣4Pλ3/2−⟩|^4P_λ3/2^-\rangle and ∣2Pλ3/2−⟩|^2P_λ3/2^-\rangle, respectively. (ii) The another newly observed state Ξc(2965)0Ξ_c(2965)^0 mostly corresponds to the λλ-mode 1P1P-wave Ξc′Ξ'_c state with the spin-parity JP=5/2−J^P=5/2^-, namely ∣4Pλ5/2−⟩|^4P_λ5/2^-\rangle. (iii) For the two λλ-mode JP=1/2−J^P=1/2^- mixed states, the ∣Pλ 1/2−⟩1|P_λ~1/2^-\rangle_1 is a narrow state with a width of Γ∼15Γ\sim15 MeV and mainly decays into Ξc′πΞ'_cπ; while the ∣Pλ 1/2−⟩2|P_λ~1/2^-\rangle_2 state has a width of Γ∼52Γ\sim52 MeV and dominantly decays into ΞcπΞ_cπ and ΛcKΛ_cK channels. If the broad structure around 28802880 MeV observed at LHCb arises from the new Ξc0Ξ^0_c state, this state is very likely to be the ∣Pλ 1/2−⟩2|P_λ~1/2^-\rangle_2 state.

ΩΩ baryon spectrum and their decays in a constituent quark model

Combining the recent developments of the observations of ΩΩ sates we calculate the ΩΩ spectrum up to the N=2N=2 shell within a nonrelativistic constituent quark potential model. Furthermore, the strong and radiative decay properties for the ΩΩ resonances within the N=2N=2 shell are evaluated by using the masses and wave functions obtained from the potential model. It is found that the newly observed Ω(2012)Ω(2012) resonance is most likely to be the spin-parity JP=3/2−J^P=3/2^- 1P1P-wave state Ω(12P3/2−)Ω(1^{2}P_{3/2^{-}}), it also has a large potential to be observed in the Ω(1672)γΩ(1672)γ channel. Our calculation shows that the 1PP-, 1DD-, and 2SS-wave ΩΩ baryons have a relatively narrow decay width of less than 50 MeV. Based on the obtained decay properties and mass spectrum, we further suggest optimum channels and mass regions to find the missing ΩΩ resonances via the strong and/or radiative decay processes.

A possible explanation of the threshold enhancement in the process e+e−→ΛΛˉe^+e^-\rightarrow Λ\barΛ

Inspired by the recent measurement of the process e+e−→ΛΛˉe^+e^-\rightarrow Λ\barΛ, we calculate the mass spectrum of the ϕϕ meson with the GI model. For the excited vector strangeonium states ϕ(3S, 4S, 5S, 6S)ϕ(3S,~4S,~5S,~6S) and ϕ(2D, 3D, 4D, 5D)ϕ(2D,~3D,~4D,~5D), we further investigate the electronic decay width with the Van Royen-Weisskopf formula, and the partial widths of the ΛΛˉΛ\barΛ, Ξ−(∗)Ξˉ+Ξ^{-(*)}\barΞ^+, and Σ+(∗)Σˉ−(∗)Σ^{+(*)}\barΣ^{-(*)} decay modes with the extended quark pair creation model. We find that the electronic decay width of the DD-wave vector strangeonium is about 3∼83\sim8 times larger than that of the SS-wave vector strangeonium. Around 2232 MeV the partial decay width of the ΛΛˉΛ\barΛ mode can reach up to several MeV for ϕ(33S1)ϕ(3^3S_1), while the partial ΛΛˉΛ\barΛ decay width of ϕ(23D1)ϕ(2^3D_1) is O(10−3)\mathcal{O}(10^{-3}) keV. If the threshold enhancement reported by the BESIII Collaboration arises from the strangeonium meson, this state is very likely to be the ϕ(33S1)ϕ(3^3S_1) state. We also note that the ΛΛˉΛ\barΛ and Σ+Σˉ−Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-} partial decay widths of the states ϕ(33D1)ϕ(3^3D_1) and ϕ(43S1)ϕ(4^3S_1) are about several MeV, respectively, which are enough to be observed in future experiments.

Canonical interpretation of Y(10750)Y(10750) and Υ(10860)Υ(10860) in the ΥΥ family

Inspired by the new resonance Y(10750)Y(10750), we calculate the masses and two-body OZI-allowed strong decays of the higher vector bottomonium sates within both screened and linear potential models. We discuss the possibilities of Υ(10860)Υ(10860) and Y(10750)Y(10750) as mixed states via the S−DS-D mixing. Our results suggest that Y(10750)Y(10750) and Υ(10860)Υ(10860) might be explained as mixed states between 5S5S- and 4D4D-wave vector bbˉb\bar{b} states. The Y(10750)Y(10750) and Υ(10860)Υ(10860) resonances may correspond to the mixed states dominated by the 4D4D- and 5S5S-wave components, respectively. The mass and the strong decay behaviors of the Υ(11020)Υ(11020) resonance are consistent with the assignment of the Υ(6S)Υ(6S) state in the potential models.

Interpretation of the newly observed Λb(6146)0Λ_b(6146)^{0} and Λb(6152)0Λ_b(6152)^0 states in a chiral quark model

The strong decays of the low-lying λλ-mode Λb(1D,2S)Λ_b(1D,2S) and Σb(2S)Σ_b(2S) states are studied in a chiral quark model. We find that: (i) the newly observed Λb(6146/6152)Λ_b(6146/6152) resonances in the Λbπ+π−Λ_bπ^+π^- spectrum by the LHCb Collaboration might be explained with the λλ-mode Λb(1D)Λ_b(1D) states in the quark model. It should be emphasized that whether the structure in the Λbπ+π−Λ_bπ^+π^- spectrum correspond to two states or one state should be further clarified with more observations in future experiments. (ii) The Λb(2S)Λ_b(2S) ∣JP=12+,0⟩|J^P = \frac{1}{2}^+,0\rangle state mainly decays into Σb∗πΣ_b^*π channel, which may be an ideal channel for searching for this Λb(2S)Λ_b(2S) state in future experiments. (iii) The Σb(2S)Σ_b(2S) ∣JP=12+,1⟩|J^P = \frac{1}{2}^+,1 \rangle and ∣JP=32+,1⟩|J^P = \frac{3}{2}^+,1 \rangle dominantly decay into ΛbπΛ_bπ with Γ≃3.82Γ\simeq 3.82 MeV and Γ≃4.72Γ\simeq 4.72 MeV, respectively.

Triply charmed and bottom baryons in a constituent quark model

In this work, we study the mass spectrum of the ΩcccΩ_{ccc} and ΩbbbΩ_{bbb} baryons up to the N=2N=2 shell within a nonrelativistic constituent quark model (NRCQM). The model parameters are adopted from the determinations by fitting the charmonium and bottomonium spectra in our previous works. The masses of the ΩcccΩ_{ccc} and ΩbbbΩ_{bbb} baryon states predicted in present work reasonably agree with the results obtained with the Lattice QCD calculations. Furthermore, to provide more knowledge of the ΩcccΩ_{ccc} and ΩbbbΩ_{bbb} states, we evaluate their radiative decays with the available masses and wave functions from the potential model.

Combined analysis of the π−p→K0Λπ^-p\rightarrow K^0Λ, ηnηn reactions in a chiral quark model

A combined analysis of the reactions π−p→K0Λπ^-p\rightarrow K^0Λ and ηnηn is carried out with a chiral quark model. The data in the center-of-mass (c.m.) energy range from threshold up to W≃1.8W\simeq 1.8 GeV are reasonably described. For π−p→K0Λπ^-p\rightarrow K^0Λ, it is found that N(1535)S11N(1535)S_{11} and N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11} paly crucial roles near threshold. The N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11} resonance contributes to the reaction through configuration mixing with N(1535)S11N(1535)S_{11}. The constructive interference between N(1535)S11N(1535)S_{11} and N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11} is responsible for the peak structure around threshold in the total cross section. The nn-pole, uu- and tt-channel backgrounds provide significant contributions to the reaction as well. While, for the π−p→ηnπ^-p\rightarrow ηn process, the "first peak" in the total cross section is dominant by N(1535)S11N(1535)S_{11}, which has a sizeable destructive interference with N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11}. Around Pπ≃P_π\simeq 1.0 GeV/c (W≃1.7W\simeq 1.7 GeV), there seems to be a small bump structure in the total cross section, which might be explained by the interference between the uu-channel and N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11}. The N(1520)D13N(1520)D_{13} resonance notably affects the angle distributions of the cross sections, although less effects are seen in the total cross section. The role of PP-wave state N(1720)P13N(1720)P_{13} should be further confirmed by future experiments. If N(1720)P13N(1720)P_{13} has a narrow width of Γ≃120Γ\simeq 120 MeV as found in our previous work by a study of the π0π^0 photoproduction processes, obvious evidence should be seen in the π−p→K0Λπ^-p\rightarrow K^0Λ and ηnηn processes as well.

Radiative transitions of charmonium states in a constituent quark model

We study the electromagnetic (EM) transitions of the nSnS, nPnP (n≤3n\leq 3), and nDnD (n≤2n\leq 2) charmonium states with a constituent quark model. We obtain a reasonable description of the EM transitions of the well-established charmonium states J/ψJ/ψ, ψ(2S)ψ(2S), χcJ(1P)χ_{cJ}(1P), hc(1P)h_c(1P) and ψ(3770)ψ(3770). We find that the M2 transitions give notable corrections to some E1 dominant processes by interfering with the E1 transitions. Our predictions of EM decay properties for the higher charmonium states are also presented and compared with other model predictions. In particular, we discuss the EM decay properties of some "XYZ""XYZ" states, such as X(3823)X(3823), X(3872)X(3872), X(3915)X(3915), X(3940)X(3940) and X(4350)X(4350) as conventional charmonium states. Assuming X(3872)X(3872) as the χc1(2P)χ_{c1}(2P) state, our predicted ratio Γ[X(3872)→ψ(2S)γ]/Γ[X(3872)→J/ψγ]≃4.0Γ[X(3872)\to ψ(2S)γ]/Γ[X(3872)\to J/ψγ]\simeq 4.0 is consistent with BaBar's measurement.

Neutral pion photoproduction on the nucleon in a chiral quark model

A chiral quark-model approach is adopted to study the γp→π0pγp\rightarrow π^0p and γn→π0nγn\rightarrow π^0 n reactions. Good descriptions of the total and differential cross sections and single-polarization observables are obtained from the pion production threshold up to the second resonance region. It is found that (i) the n=0n=0 shell resonance Δ(1232)P33Δ(1232)P_{33}, the n=1n=1 shell resonances N(1535)S11N(1535)S_{11} and N(1520)D13N(1520)D_{13}, and the n=2n=2 shell resonance N(1720)P13N(1720)P_{13} play crucial roles in these two processes. They are responsible for the first, second and third bump structures in the cross sections, respectively. (ii) Furthermore, obvious evidences of N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11} and Δ(1620)S31Δ(1620)S_{31} are also found in the reactions. They notably affect the cross sections and the polarization observables from the second resonance region to the third resonance region. (iii) The uu-channel background plays a crucial role in the reactions. It has strong interferences with the ss-channel resonances. (iv) The tt-channel background seems to be needed in the reactions. Including the tt-channel vector-meson exchange contribution, the descriptions in the energy region Eγ=600∼900E_γ= 600\sim 900 MeV are improved significantly. The helicity amplitudes of the main resonances, Δ(1232)P33Δ(1232)P_{33}, N(1535)S11N(1535)S_{11}, N(1520)D13N(1520)D_{13}, N(1720)P13N(1720)P_{13}, N(1650)S11N(1650)S_{11} and Δ(1620)S31Δ(1620)S_{31}, are extracted and compared with the results from other groups.

Role of Λ(1670)Λ(1670) in the γp→K+ηΛγp \to K^+ ηΛ reaction near threshold

The role of the Λ(1670)Λ(1670) resonance in the γp→K+ηΛγp \to K^+ ηΛ reaction near threshold is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach. We perform a calculation for the total and differential cross section of the γp→K+ηΛγp \to K^+ ηΛ reaction by including the contributions from the Λ(1670)Λ(1670) intermediate state decaying into ηΛηΛ dominated by K−K^- and K∗−K^{*-} mesons exchanges, the nucleon pole and N∗(1535)N^*(1535) resonance decaying into K+ΛK^+ Λ dominated by exchanges of ωω and K−K^- mesons. Besides, the non-resonance process and contact terms to keep the total scattering amplitude gauge invariant are also considered. With our model parameters, the total cross section of this reaction is of the order of 11 nanobarn at photon beam energy Eγ∼2.5E_γ \sim 2.5 GeV. It is expected that our model predictions could be tested by future experiments.

Strong decays of higher excited heavy-light mesons in a chiral quark model

The strong decay properties of the higher excited heavy-light mesons from the first radially excited states up to the first FF-wave states are studied in a constituent quark model. It is found many missing excitations have good potentials to be found in future experiments for their narrow widths, some of them dominantly decay into the first orbital excitations rather than into ground states. In future observations, one should focus on the decay processes not only into the ground states, but also into the low-lying PP-wave excitations with JP=0+,1+J^P=0^+,1^+. Furthermore, the nature of the newly observed states DJ(3000)D_J(3000), DJ∗(3000)D_J^*(3000) and B(5970) is discussed. It is predicted that DJ(3000)D_J(3000) seems to be a partner of DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040), which could be identified as the high-mass mixed state ∣2P1>L|2{P_1}>_L (JP=1+J^P=1^+) via the 21P12^1P_1-23P12^3P_1 mixing. The DJ∗(3000)D_J^*(3000) resonance seems to favor the 13F41^3F_4 state, however, the quantum numbers JP=0+J^P=0^+ and 2+2^+ can not be excluded complectly, more experimental observations are needed to determine its JPJ^P values. The B(5970) resonance is most likely to be the 13D31^3D_3 with JP=3−J^P=3^-.

ΞΞ baryon strong decays in a chiral quark model

The strong decays of ΞΞ baryons up to N=2 shell were studied in a chiral quark model. The strong decay properties of these well-established ground decuplet baryons were reasonably described. We found that (i) Ξ(1690)Ξ(1690) and Ξ(1820)Ξ(1820) could be assigned to the spin-parity JP=1/2−J^P=1/2^- state ∣70,28,1,1,1/2−>|70,^{2}{8},1,1,1/2^-> and the spin-parity JP=3/2−J^P=3/2^- state ∣70,28,1,1,3/2−>|70,^{2}{8},1,1,3/2^->, respectively. Slight configuration mixing might exist in these two negative parity states. (ii) Ξ(1950)Ξ(1950) might correspond to several different ΞΞ resonances. The broad states (Γ∼100Γ\sim 100 MeV) observed in the ΞπΞπ channel could be classified as the pure JP=5/2−J^P=5/2^- octet state Ξ0∣70,48,1,1,5/2−>Ξ^0|70,^{4}8,1,1,5/2^-> or the mixed state ∣Ξ1/2−>3|Ξ1/2^->_3 with JP=1/2−J^P=1/2^-. The ΞΞ resonances with moderate width (Γ∼60Γ\sim 60 MeV) observed in the ΞπΞπ channel might correspond to the JP=1/2+J^P=1/2^+ excitation ∣56,410,2,2,1/2+>|56,^{4}10,2,2,1/2^+>. The second orbital excitation ∣56,410,2,2,3/2+>|56,^{4}10,2,2,3/2^+> and the mixed state ∣Ξ1/2−>1|Ξ1/2^->_1 might be candidates for the narrow width state observed in the ΛKˉΛ\bar{K} channel, however, their spin-parity numbers are incompatible with the moment analysis of the data. (iii) Ξ(2030)Ξ(2030) could not be assigned to either any spin-parity JP=7/2+J^P=7/2^+ states or any pure JP=5/2+J^P=5/2^+ configurations. It seems to favor the ∣70,28,2,2,3/2+>|70,^{2}8,2,2,3/2^+> assignment, however, its spin conflicts with the moment analysis of the data. To find more ΞΞ resonances, the observations in the Ξ(1530)πΞ(1530)π and Σ(1385)KˉΣ(1385) \bar{K} channels are necessary.

Low energy reaction K−p→ΛηK^-p\rightarrowΛη and the negative parity ΛΛ resonances

The reaction K−p→ΛηK^-p\rightarrowΛη at low energies is studied with a chiral quark model approach. Good descriptions of the existing experimental data are obtained. It is found that Λ(1670)Λ(1670) dominates the reaction around threshold. Furthermore, uu- and tt-channel backgrounds play crucial roles in this reaction as well. The contributions from the DD-wave state Λ(1690)Λ(1690) are negligibly small for its tiny coupling to ηΛηΛ. To understand the strong coupling properties of the low-lying negative parity ΛΛ resonances extracted from the KˉN\bar{K}N scattering, we further study their strong decays. It is found that these resonances are most likely mixed states between different configurations. Considering these low-lying negative parity ΛΛ resonances as mixed three-quark states, we can reasonably understand both their strong decay properties from Particle Data Group and their strong coupling properties extracted from the KˉN\bar{K}N scattering. As a byproduct, we also predict the strong decay properties of the missing DD-wave state ∣Λ32− >3|Λ\frac{3}{2}^-\ >_3 with a mass of ∼1.8\sim1.8 GeV. We suggest our experimental colleagues search it in the Σ(1385)πΣ(1385)π and ΣπΣπ channels.

Low energy reactions K−p→Σ0π0K^-p\rightarrowΣ^0π^0, Λπ0Λπ^0, Kˉ0n\bar{K}^0n and the strangeness S=−1S=-1 hyperons

A combined study of the reactions K−p→Σ0π0K^-p\rightarrow Σ^0π^0, Λπ0Λπ^0 and Kˉ0n\bar{K}^0n at low energies is carried out with a chiral quark-model approach. Good descriptions of the experimental observations are obtained. The roles of the low-lying strangeness S=−1S=-1 hyperon resonances in these processes are carefully analyzed. We find that: (i) In the K−p→Σ0π0K^-p\rightarrow Σ^0π^0 process, both Λ(1405)S01Λ(1405)S_{01} and Λ(1520)D03Λ(1520)D_{03} play dominant roles. Significant contributions of Λ(1670)S01Λ(1670)S_{01} and Λ(1690)D03Λ(1690)D_{03} could be seen around their threshold; (ii) In the K−p→Λπ0K^-p\rightarrow Λπ^0 process, some obvious evidence of Σ(1775)D15Σ(1775)D_{15} and Σ(1750)S11Σ(1750)S_{11} could be found. Some hints of Σ(1620)S11Σ(1620)S_{11} might exist in the reaction as well. Σ(1750)S11Σ(1750)S_{11} and Σ(1620)S11Σ(1620)S_{11} should correspond to the representations [70,48]S11[70,^48]S_{11} and [70,28]S11[70,^28]S_{11}, respectively; (iii) In the K−p→Kˉ0nK^-p\rightarrow \bar{K}^0n process, the dominant resonances are Λ(1405)Λ(1405) and Λ(1520)Λ(1520). Some evidence of Λ(1690)D03Λ(1690)D_{03}, Σ(1670)D13Σ(1670)D_{13} and Σ(1775)D15Σ(1775)D_{15} could be seen as well. A weak coupling of Λ(1670)S01Λ(1670)S_{01} to KˉN\bar{K}N should be needed in the reactions K−p→Σ0π0K^-p\rightarrow Σ^0π^0 and Kˉ0n\bar{K}^0n. Furthermore, by analyzing these reactions, we also find that the uu-, t-channel backgrounds and s-channel Born term play crucial roles in the reactions.

Charm-strange baryon strong decays in a chiral quark model

The strong decays of charm-strange baryons up to N=2 shell are studied in a chiral quark model. The theoretical predictions for the well determined charm-strange baryons, Ξc∗(2645)Ξ_c^*(2645), Ξc(2790)Ξ_c(2790) and Ξc(2815)Ξ_c(2815), are in good agreement with the experimental data. This model is also extended to analyze the strong decays of the other newly observed charm-strange baryons Ξc(2930)Ξ_c(2930), Ξc(2980)Ξ_c(2980), Ξc(3055)Ξ_c(3055), Ξc(3080)Ξ_c(3080) and Ξc(3123)Ξ_c(3123). Our predictions are given as follows. (i) Ξc(2930)Ξ_c(2930) might be the first PP-wave excitation of Ξc′Ξ_c' with JP=1/2−J^P=1/2^-, favors the ∣Ξc′ 2Pλ1/2−>|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_λ1/2^-> or ∣Ξc′ 4Pλ1/2−>|Ξ_c'\ ^4P_λ1/2^-> state. (ii) Ξc(2980)Ξ_c(2980) might correspond to two overlapping PP-wave states ∣Ξc′ 2Pρ1/2−>|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ1/2^-> and ∣Ξc′ 2Pρ3/2−>|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ3/2^->, respectively. The Ξc(2980)Ξ_c(2980) observed in the Λc+KˉπΛ_c^+\bar{K}π final state is most likely to be the ∣Ξc′ 2Pρ1/2−>|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ1/2^-> state, while the narrower resonance with a mass m≃2.97m\simeq 2.97 GeV observed in the Ξc∗(2645)πΞ_c^*(2645)π channel favors to be assigned to the ∣Ξc′ 2Pρ3/2−>|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ3/2^-> state. (iii) Ξc(3080)Ξ_c(3080) favors to be classified as the ∣Ξc Sρρ1/2+>|Ξ_c\ S_{ρρ} 1/2^+> state, i.e., the first radial excitation (2S) of ΞcΞ_c. (iv) Ξc(3055)Ξ_c(3055) is most likely to be the first DD-wave excitation of ΞcΞ_c with JP=3/2+J^P=3/2^+, favors the ∣Ξc 2Dλλ3/2+>|Ξ_c\ ^2D_{λλ} 3/2^+> state. (v) Ξc(3123)Ξ_c(3123) might be assigned to the ∣Ξc′ 4Dλλ3/2+>|Ξ_c'\ ^4D_{λλ} 3/2^+>, ∣Ξc′ 4Dλλ5/2+>|Ξ_c'\ ^4D_{λλ} 5/2^+>, or ∣Ξc 2Dρρ5/2+>|Ξ_c\ ^2D_{ρρ} 5/2^+> state. As a by-product, we calculate the strong decays of the bottom baryons Σb±Σ_b^{\pm}, Σb∗±Σ_b^{*\pm} and Ξb∗Ξ_b^*, which are in good agreement with the recent observations as well.

η′η' photoproduction on the nucleons in the quark model

A chiral quark-model approach is adopted to study the γp→η′pγp\rightarrow η'p and γn→η′nγn\rightarrow η' n. Good descriptions of the recent observations from CLAS and CBELSA/TAPS are obtained. Both of the processes are governed by S11(1535)S_{11}(1535) and uu channel background. Strong evidence of an n=3n=3 shell resonance D15(2080)D_{15}(2080) is found in the reactions, which accounts for the bump-like structure around W=2.1W=2.1 GeV observed in the total cross section and excitation functions at very forward angles. The S11(1920)S_{11}(1920) seems to be needed in the reactions, with which the total cross section near threshold for the γp→η′pγp\rightarrow η' p is improved slightly. The polarized beam asymmetries show some sensitivities to D13(1520)D_{13}(1520), although its effects on the differential cross sections and total cross sections are negligible. There is no obvious evidence of the PP-, D13D_{13}-, FF- and GG-wave resonances with a mass around 2.0 GeV in the reactions.

ηη photoproduction on the quasi-free nucleons in the chiral quark model

A chiral quark-model approach is adopted to study the ηη photoproduction off the quasi-free neutron and proton from a deuteron target. Good descriptions of the differential cross sections, total cross sections and beam asymmetries for these two processes are obtained in the low energy region. For γp→ηpγp\rightarrow ηp, the dominant resonances are S11(1535)S_{11}(1535), S11(1650)S_{11}(1650), D13(1520)D_{13}(1520), D13(1700)D_{13}(1700) and P13(1720)P_{13}(1720). While for the γn→ηnγn\rightarrow ηn process, the dominant resonances are S11(1535)S_{11}(1535), S11(1650)S_{11}(1650), D13(1520)D_{13}(1520), D15(1675)D_{15}(1675) and P13(1720)P_{13}(1720). Furthermore, the uu channel backgrounds have significant contributions to the ηη photoproduction processes. The configuration mixings in the S11(1535,1650)S_{11}(1535,1650) and D13(1520,1700)D_{13}(1520,1700) can be extracted, i.e. θS≃26∘θ_S\simeq 26^\circ and θD≃21∘θ_D\simeq 21^\circ. It shows that the narrow bump-like structure around W=1.68W= 1.68 GeV observed in γn→ηnγn\rightarrow ηn can be naturally explained by the constructive interferences between S11(1535)S_{11}(1535) and S11(1650)S_{11}(1650). In contrast, the destructive interference between S11(1535)S_{11}(1535) and S11(1650)S_{11}(1650) produces the shallow dip around W=1.67W= 1.67 GeV in γp→ηpγp\rightarrow ηp. The SS wave interfering behaviors in the proton and neutron reactions are correlated with each other in the quark model framework, and no new exotic nucleon resonances are needed in these two reactions.

Strong decays of newly observed DsJD_{sJ} states in a constituent quark model with effective Lagrangians

The strong decay properties of the newly observed states DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040), DsJ(2860)D_{sJ}(2860) and DsJ(2710)D_{sJ}(2710) are studied in a constituent quark model with quark-meson effective Lagrangians. We find that the DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040) could be identified as the low mass physical state ∣2P1>L|2{P_1}>_L (JP=1+J^P=1^+) from the Ds(21P1)D_{s}(2^1P_1)-Ds(23P1)D_{s}(2^3P_1) mixing. The DsJ(2710)D_{sJ}(2710) is likely to be the low-mass mixed state ∣(SD)>L|(SD)>_L via the 13D11^3D_1-23S12^3S_1 mixing. In our model, the DsJ(2860)D_{sJ}(2860) cannot be assigned to any single state with a narrow width and compatible partial widths to DKDK and D∗KD^*K. Thus, we investigate a two-state scenario as proposed in the literature. In our model, one resonance is likely to be the 13D31^3D_3 (JP=3−J^P=3^-), which mainly decays into DKDK. The other resonance seems to be the ∣1D2′>H|1{D_2}'>_H, i.e. the high-mass state in the 11D21^1D_2-13D21^3D_2 mixing with JP=2−J^P=2^-, of which the D∗KD^*K channel is its key decay mode. We also discuss implications arising from these assignments and give predictions for their partner states such as ∣(SD)′>H|(SD)'>_H, ∣2P1′>H|2{P'_1}>_H, 23P02^3P_0 and 23P22^3P_2, which could be helpful for the search for these new states in future experiment.

Strong decays of the newly observed D(2550)D(2550), D(2600)D(2600), D(2750)D(2750), and D(2760)D(2760)

The strong decay properties of the newly observed D(2550)D(2550), D(2600)D(2600), D(2750)D(2750) and D(2760)D(2760) are studied in a constituent quark model. It is predicted that the D(2760)D(2760) and D(2750)D(2750) seem to be two overlapping resonances. The D(2760)D(2760) could be identified as the 13D31^3D_3 with JP=3−J^P=3^-, while the D(2750)D(2750) is most likely to be the high-mass mixed state ∣1D2′>H|1{D_2}'>_H (JP=2−J^P=2^-) via the 11D21^1D_2-13D21^3D_2 mixing. The D(2600)D(2600) favors the low-mass mixed state ∣(SD)1>L|(SD)_1>_L (JP=1−)(J^P=1^-) via the 13D11^3D_1-23S12^3S_1 mixing. The D(2550)D(2550) as the 21S02^1S_0 assignment bears controversies for its too broad width given in experiments.
