Canonical interpretation of the $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ resonance

The $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ resonance observed by LHCb Collaboration is a strong candidate of the $D_{s}(2^1S_0)$ state according to its spin parity and strong decay mode. However, the measured mass seems relatively lower than the previous theoretical predictions, which interests the coupled channel interpretations in the literature. In this work, we adopt an alternate approach, taking into account the screening effects in the potential model, to describe the $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ resonance. The mass spectrum and strong decays of the excited charmed-strange mesons are investigated within the modified relativized quark model and $^3P_0$ model. The calculated mass and width of the $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ are consistent with the experimental observations, which indicate that it can be reasonably interpreted as the $D_{s}(2^{1}S_{0})$ state.

Fully-heavy hexaquarks in a constituent quark model

In this work, we systematically investigate the mass spectra of fully-heavy hexaquarks within a constituent quark model by including the color Coulomb potential, linear confining potential, and spin-spin interactions. Our results show that all of the fully-heavy hexaquarks lie above the corresponding baryon-baryon thresholds, and thus no stable compact one exists. These states may subsist as resonances and decay into two fully-heavy baryons easily through the fall-apart mechanism, which can be searched in future experiments.

Branching fractions of $B^-\to D^-X_{0,1}(2900)$ and their implications

The exotic states $X_{0,1}(2900)$ with the quark flavor of $cs\bar{u}\bar{d}$ are recently observed in the mass spectrum of $D^+K^-$ in $B^-\to D^-D^+K^-$ by the LHCb collaboration. To explore the nature of $X_{0,1}(2900)$, except for analyzing their masses and decay widths as usually did in literatures, the study of their production mechanism in $B$-meson weak decays would provide another important information. The amplitude of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ is non-factorizable. We consider the final-state-interaction effects and calculate them via the rescattering mechanism. The measured branching fractions of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ are revealed. It is manifested by ${B}^-\to Λ_c^-Ξ_c^{(\prime)0}$ and $Λ_b^0\to P_c^+K^-$ that the rescattering mechanism can result in the relatively large branching fractions. The similar processes of $B^-\to π^-X_{0,1}$ are also analyzed. The isospins of $X_{0,1}$ can be investigated by $B\to DX_{0,1}^{\pm,0}$ decays.

Magic mixing angles for doubly heavy baryons

We study the so-called magic mixing angles for doubly heavy baryons. Defining that a magic mixing angle rotates states with definite $^{2S+1}(l_λ)_J$ to make them heavy-quark symmetric states, we derive the magic mixing angle only in the case $L_ρ=0$ between the heavy quark symmetric states with quantum numbers $\left(J, j_\ell\right)$ and the states with $\left(J, s_q+j_ρ\right)=\left(J, \{^4l_λ/^2l_λ\}\right)$ for a doubly heavy baryon in the standard $ρ-λ$ configuration, where $\vec j_\ell=\vec l_λ+\vec s_q$, $\vec s_ρ=\vec s_{Q1}+\vec s_{Q2}$, and $\vec j_ρ=\vec s_ρ+\vec L_ρ$. We discuss how this mixing angle affects model building for a doubly heavy baryon.

Strong decays of the low-lying doubly bottom baryons

In this work, we adopt the $^3P_0$ model to investigate the strong decays of the low-lying doubly bottom baryons in the $j-j$ coupling scheme systematically. In this scheme, we construct the formulism of $^3P_0$ model under the spectator assumption, and then the heavy diquark symmetry is preserved automatically. Our results show that some of the $λ$-mode $Ξ_{bb}(1P)$ and $Ω_{bb}(1P)$ states are narrow, which have good potentials to be observed by future experiments. For the low-lying $ρ$-mode and $ρ$-$λ$ hybrid states, the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-allowed strong decays are highly suppressed and they should be extremely narrow. Future experiments can test our phenomenological predictions at the quark level.

All-heavy tetraquarks

In this work we study the mass spectra of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems, i.e. $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$, $bb\bar{b}\bar{b}$, $bb\bar{c}\bar{c}/cc\bar{b}\bar{b}$, $bc\bar{c}\bar{c}/cc\bar{b}\bar{c}$, $bc\bar{b}\bar{b}/bb\bar{b}\bar{c}$, and $bc\bar{b}\bar{c}$, within a potential model by including the linear confining potential, Coulomb potential, and spin-spin interactions. It shows that the linear confining potential has important contributions to the masses and is crucial for our understanding of the mass spectra of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems. For the fully-heavy tetraquarks $Q_1Q_2\bar{Q}_3\bar{Q}_4$ our explicit calculations suggest that no bound states can be formed below the thresholds of any meson pairs $(Q_1\bar{Q}_3)$-$(Q_2\bar{Q}_4)$ or $(Q_1\bar{Q}_4)$-$(Q_2\bar{Q}_3)$. Thus, we do not expect narrow fully-heavy tetraquark states to be existing in experiments.

Masses of doubly heavy tetraquarks $T_{QQ^\prime}$ in a relativized quark model

In the present work, the mass spectra of doubly heavy tetraquarks $T_{QQ^\prime}$ are systematically investigated in a relativized quark model. The four-body systems including the Coulomb potential, confining potential, spin-spin interactions, and relativistic corrections are solved within the variational method. Our results suggest that the $IJ^P=01^+$ $bb \bar u \bar d$ state is 54 MeV below the relevant $\bar B \bar B$ and $\bar B \bar B^*$ thresholds, which indicates that both strong and electromagnetic decays are forbidden, and thus this state can be a stable one. Its large hidden color component and small root mean square radius demonstrate that it is a compact tetraquark rather than a loosely bound molecule or point-like diquark-antidiquark structure. Our predictions of the doubly heavy tetraquarks may provide valuable information for future experimental searches.

Strong decays of the higher excited $Λ_Q$ and $Σ_Q$ baryons

In this work, we preform a systematic study of the strong decays for the higher singly heavy baryon resonances $Λ_Q(3S)$, $Λ_Q(2P)$, $Λ_Q(2D)$, $Λ_Q(1F)$, $Σ_Q(3S)$, $Σ_Q(2P)$, $Σ_Q(2D)$, and $Σ_Q(1F)$ within the $^3P_0$ model. Our results show that most of the $λ-$mode higher excited $Λ_Q$ and $Σ_Q$ states have a relatively narrow width, and mainly decay into two-body final states with one heavy meson plus one light baryon. Our calculations provide abundant theoretical information and demonstrate the general feature for these higher states, which may be valuable for future experimental searches and establishing the singly heavy baryon spectrum.

Strong decays of the newly observed narrow $Ω_b$ structures

Motivated by the newly observed narrow structures $Ω_b(6316)^-$, $Ω_b(6330)^-$, $Ω_b(6340)^-$, and $Ω_b(6350)^-$ in the $Ξ_b^0 K^-$ mass spectrum, we investigate the strong decays of the low-lying $Ω_b$ states within the $^3P_0$ model systematically. According to their masses and decay widths, the observed $Ω_b(6316)^-$, $Ω_b(6330)^-$, $Ω_b(6340)^-$, and $Ω_b(6350)^-$ resonances can be reasonably assigned as the $λ-$mode $Ω_b(1P)$ states with $J^P=1/2^-, 3/2^-, 3/2^-$, and $5/2^-$. Meanwhile, the remaining $P-$wave state with $J^P=1/2^-$ should have a rather broad width, which can hardly be observed by experiments. For the $Ω_b(2S)$ and $Ω_b(1D)$ states, our predictions show that these states have relatively narrow total widths and mainly decay into the $Ξ_b \bar K$, $Ξ_b^\prime \bar K$ and $Ξ_b^{\prime*} \bar K$ final states. These abundant theoretical predictions may be valuable for searching more excited $Ω_b$ states in future experiments.

The $ss \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states and the newly observed structure $X(2239)$ by BESIII Collaboration

We investigate the mass spectrum of the $ss \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states within the relativized quark model. By solving the Schrödinger-like equation with the relativized potential, the masses of the $S-$ and $P-$wave $ss \bar s \bar s$ tetraquarks are obtained. The screening effects are also taken into account. It is found that the observed resonant structure $X(2239)$ in the $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-$ process by BESIII Collaboration can be assigned as a $P-$wave $1^{--}$ $ss \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark state. Furthermore, the radiative transition and strong decay behaviors of this structure are also estimated, which can provide helpful information for future experimental searches.

The newly observed $Λ_b(6072)^0$ structure and its $ρ-$mode nonstrange partners

Inspired by the newly observed $Λ_b(6072)$ structure, we investigate its strong decay behaviors under various assignments within the $^3P_0$ model. Compared with the mass and total decay width, our results suggest that the $Λ_b(6072)$ can be regarded as the lowest $ρ-$mode excitation in $Λ_b$ family. Then, the strong decays of $ρ-$mode nonstrange partners for the $Λ_b(6072)$ are calculated. It is found that the $J^P=5/2^-$ $Λ_b$ and $Λ_c$ states are relatively narrow, and mainly decay into the $Σ_b^{(*)} π$ and $Σ_c^{(*)} π$ final states, respectively. These two states have good potentials to be observed in future experiments, which may help us to distinguish the three-quark model and diquark model.

$Ω$ baryon spectrum and their decays in a constituent quark model

Combining the recent developments of the observations of $Ω$ sates we calculate the $Ω$ spectrum up to the $N=2$ shell within a nonrelativistic constituent quark potential model. Furthermore, the strong and radiative decay properties for the $Ω$ resonances within the $N=2$ shell are evaluated by using the masses and wave functions obtained from the potential model. It is found that the newly observed $Ω(2012)$ resonance is most likely to be the spin-parity $J^P=3/2^-$ $1P$-wave state $Ω(1^{2}P_{3/2^{-}})$, it also has a large potential to be observed in the $Ω(1672)γ$ channel. Our calculation shows that the 1$P$-, 1$D$-, and 2$S$-wave $Ω$ baryons have a relatively narrow decay width of less than 50 MeV. Based on the obtained decay properties and mass spectrum, we further suggest optimum channels and mass regions to find the missing $Ω$ resonances via the strong and/or radiative decay processes.

Canonical interpretation of $Y(10750)$ and $Υ(10860)$ in the $Υ$ family

Inspired by the new resonance $Y(10750)$, we calculate the masses and two-body OZI-allowed strong decays of the higher vector bottomonium sates within both screened and linear potential models. We discuss the possibilities of $Υ(10860)$ and $Y(10750)$ as mixed states via the $S-D$ mixing. Our results suggest that $Y(10750)$ and $Υ(10860)$ might be explained as mixed states between $5S$- and $4D$-wave vector $b\bar{b}$ states. The $Y(10750)$ and $Υ(10860)$ resonances may correspond to the mixed states dominated by the $4D$- and $5S$-wave components, respectively. The mass and the strong decay behaviors of the $Υ(11020)$ resonance are consistent with the assignment of the $Υ(6S)$ state in the potential models.

Interpretation of the newly observed $Λ_b(6146)^{0}$ and $Λ_b(6152)^0$ states in a chiral quark model

The strong decays of the low-lying $λ$-mode $Λ_b(1D,2S)$ and $Σ_b(2S)$ states are studied in a chiral quark model. We find that: (i) the newly observed $Λ_b(6146/6152)$ resonances in the $Λ_bπ^+π^-$ spectrum by the LHCb Collaboration might be explained with the $λ$-mode $Λ_b(1D)$ states in the quark model. It should be emphasized that whether the structure in the $Λ_bπ^+π^-$ spectrum correspond to two states or one state should be further clarified with more observations in future experiments. (ii) The $Λ_b(2S)$ $|J^P = \frac{1}{2}^+,0\rangle$ state mainly decays into $Σ_b^*π$ channel, which may be an ideal channel for searching for this $Λ_b(2S)$ state in future experiments. (iii) The $Σ_b(2S)$ $|J^P = \frac{1}{2}^+,1 \rangle$ and $|J^P = \frac{3}{2}^+,1 \rangle$ dominantly decay into $Λ_bπ$ with $Γ\simeq 3.82$ MeV and $Γ\simeq 4.72$ MeV, respectively.

Triply charmed and bottom baryons in a constituent quark model

In this work, we study the mass spectrum of the $Ω_{ccc}$ and $Ω_{bbb}$ baryons up to the $N=2$ shell within a nonrelativistic constituent quark model (NRCQM). The model parameters are adopted from the determinations by fitting the charmonium and bottomonium spectra in our previous works. The masses of the $Ω_{ccc}$ and $Ω_{bbb}$ baryon states predicted in present work reasonably agree with the results obtained with the Lattice QCD calculations. Furthermore, to provide more knowledge of the $Ω_{ccc}$ and $Ω_{bbb}$ states, we evaluate their radiative decays with the available masses and wave functions from the potential model.

Excited bottom and bottom-strange mesons in the quark model

In order to understand the possible $q\bar{q}$ quark-model assignments of the $B_J(5840)$ and $B_J(5960)$ recently reported by the LHCb Collaboration, we evaluate mass spectra, strong decays, and radiative decays of bottom and bottom-strange mesons in a nonrelativistic quark model. Comparing these predictions with the relevant experimental results, we suggest that the $B_J(5840)$ and $B_J(5960)$ can be identified as the $B(2^1S_0)$ and $B(1^3D_3)$, respectively, and the $B(5970)$ reported by the CDF Collaboration can be interpreted as the $B(2^3S_1)$ or $B(1^3D_3)$. Further precise measurements of the width, spin and decay modes of the $B(5970)$ are needed to distinguish these two assignments. These predictions of bottom and bottom-strange mesons can provide useful information to further experimental investigations.

Masses of open charm and bottom tetraquark states in a relativized quark model

We study the masses of open charm and bottom tetraquark states within the diquark-antidiquark scenario in the relativized quark model proposed by Godfrey and Isgur. The diquark and antidiquark masses are firstly solved by relativized quark potential, and then treated as the usual antiquark and quark, respectively. The masses of tetraquark states are obtained by solving the Schrödinger-type equation between the new diquark and antidiquark. We find the masses of $sq\bar b\bar q$ tetraquark configuration are much higher than that of $X(5568)$. This conclusion disfavors the possibility of $X(5568)$ as a tetraquark state within the diquark-antidiquark scenario. Further experimental searches are needed to clarify the nature of the signal observed by D0 collaboration.

Role of $Y(4630)$ in the $p\bar{p}\rightarrowΛ_c\barΛ_c$ reaction near threshold

We investigate the charmed baryon production reaction $p\bar{p}\rightarrowΛ_c\barΛ_c$ in an effective Lagrangian approach. Besides the $t$-channel $D^0$ and $D^{*0}$ mesons exchanges, the $s$-channel $Y(4630)$ meson exchange is taken into account. For the total cross sections, the $D^0$ and $D^{*0}$ mesons provide minor background contributions, while the $Y(4630)$ state gives a clear peak structure with the magnitude of 10 $μ$b at center of mass energy 4.63 GeV. Basing on the results, we suggest that the reaction of $p\bar{p}\rightarrowΛ_c\barΛ_c$ can be used to search for the $1^{--}$ charmonium-like $Y(4630)$ state, and our predictions can be tested in future by the $\rm{\bar PANDA}$ facility.

Strong decay mode $J/ψp$ of hidden charm pentaquark states $P_c^+(4380)$ and $P_c^+(4450)$ in $Σ_c \bar{D}^*$ molecular scenario

We study the strong decay channels $P_c^+(4380) \to J/ψp$ and $P_c^+(4450) \to J/ψp$ under $Σ_c \bar{D}^*$ molecular state ansatz. With various spin-parity assignments, the partial decay widths of $J/ψp$ final state are calculated. Our results show that all the $P$ wave $Σ_c {\bar D}^*$ assignments are excluded, while $S$ wave $Σ_c {\bar D}^*$ pictures for $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ are both allowed by present experimental data. The $J^P=3/2^-$ $Σ_c^* \bar{D}$ and $Σ_c^* \bar{D}^*$ molecules are also discussed in the heavy quark limit, and find that the $Σ_c^* \bar{D}$ system for $P_c(4380)$ is possible. More experimental information on spin-parities and partial decay widths and theoretical investigations on other decay modes are needed to clarify the nature of the two $P_c$ states.

Strong decays of the $X(2500)$ newly observed by the BESIII Collaboration

Basing on the observation of a new $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$ state, $X(2500)$, in the partial wave analysis of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrowγX\rightarrow γϕϕ$ performed by the BESIII Collaboration, we have evaluated the strong decays of the $X(2500)$ as the $4^1S_0$ and $5^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ states in the $^3P_0$ meson decay model. The predicted total decay width for the $4^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ is about 894.5 MeV, and the one for the $5^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ is about 271.1 MeV, which is in agreement with the experimental data $Γ_{X(2500)}=230^{+64+56}_{-35-33}$ MeV. By considering the mass and the total strong decay width of the $X(2500)$, we propose that the $X(2500)$ state can be interpreted as a candidate of the $5^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ state.

The $X(4140)$, $X(4274)$, $X(4500)$ and $X(4700)$ in the relativized quark model

We investigate the masses of $cs \bar c \bar s$ tetraquark states in a diquark-antidiquark picture employing the relativized quark model proposed by Godfrey and Isgur. Only the antitriplet diquark states in color space are calculated. The diquark masses are obtained with the relativized potential firstly, and then the diquark and antidiquark are treated as the usual antiquark and quark, respectively, and the masses of the tetraquark states are obtained by solving the Schrödinger equation with the relativized potential between the diquark and antidiquark. The theoretical uncertainties induced by screening effects are also taken into account. It is found that the resonance of $X(4140)$ can be regarded as the $cs \bar c \bar s$ tetraquark ground states, and the $X(4700)$ can be assigned as the $2S$ excited tetraquark state. When the internal excited diquarks are taken into account, the resonance of $X(4500)$ can be explained as the tetraquark composed of one $2S$ scalar diquark and one scalar antidiquark. In our approach, the $X(4274)$ cannot be explained as a tetraquark state, however, it can be a good candidate of the conventional $χ_{c1}(3^3P_1)$ state. In addition, other charmonium-like states $χ_{c0}(3915)$, $X(4350)$, $X(4630)$ and $X(4660)$, as the $cs \bar c \bar s$ tetraquark states, are also discussed.

Near-threshold $η$ production in $pp$ collisions

We study near-threshold $η$ meson production in $pp$ collisions within an effective Lagrangian approach combined with the isobar model, by allowing for the various intermediate nucleon resonances due to the $π$, $η$, and $ρ$-meson exchanges. It is shown that the $ρ$-meson exchange is the dominant excitation mechanism for these resonances, and the contribution from the $N^*(1720)$ is dominant. The total cross section data can be reasonably reproduced, and the anisotropic angular distributions of the emitted $η$ meson are consistent with experimental measurements. Besides, the invariant mass spectra of $pp$ and $pη$ explain the data well at excess energy of 15 MeV, and are basically consistent with the data at excess energy of 40 MeV. However, our model calculations cannot reasonably account for the two-peak structure in the $pη$ distribution at excess energies of 57 and 72 MeV, which suggests that a more complicated mechanism is needed at higher energy region.

Neutral hidden charm pentaquark states $P_c^0(4380)$ and $P_c^0(4450)$ in $π^-p \to J/ψn$ reaction

We investigate the neutral hidden charm pentaquark states $P_c^0(4380)$ and $P_c^0(4450)$ in $π^-p \to J/ψn$ reaction within an effective Lagrangian approach. The background contributions for the process mainly come from $t$-channel $π$ and $ρ$ meson exchanges. The contributions of $P_c^0(4380)$ and $P_c^0(4450)$ states give clear peak structures in the magnitude of 1 $μ$b at center of mass energy 4.38 GeV and 4.45 GeV in the total cross sections. Hence, this reaction may provide a new good platform to search for neutral $P_c$ states. It is expected that our estimated total cross sections together with the angular distributions can be tested by future experiments at J-PARC.

Nucleon resonances in the $γp \to ϕK^+ Λ$ reaction near threshold

We investigate the $γp \to ϕK^+ Λ$ reaction near threshold within an effective Lagrangian approach and the isobar model. Various nucleon resonances caused by the $π$ and $η$ meson exchanges and background contributions are considered. It is shown that the contribution from the $N^*(1535)$ resonance caused by the $η$ meson exchange plays the predominant role. Hence, this reaction provides a good new platform to study the $N^*(1535)$ resonance. The predicted total cross section and specific features of angular distributions can be tested by future experiments.

Nucleon resonances in the $π^- p \to K^0 Λ$ reaction near threshold

We investigate the two-body reaction $π^- p \to K^{0} Λ$ within the effective Lagrangian approach and the isobar model. In addition to the "background" contributions from $t$-channel $K^*$ exchange, $u$-channel $Σ(1192)$ and $Σ^*(1385)$ exchanges, and $s$-channel nucleon pole terms, the contributions from the nucleon resonances $N^*(1535)$, $N^*(1650)$, and $N^*(1720)$ are investigated. It is shown that the inclusion of these nucleon resonances contributions leads to a good description of the experimental total and differential cross sections data at low energy region. The $s$-channel $N^*(1535)$, $N^*(1650)$, and $N^*(1720)$ resonances and the $t$-channel $K^*$ exchange give the dominant contributions below $W = 1.76$ GeV, while the $u$-channel $Σ(1192)$ and $Σ^*(1385)$ exchanges give the minor contributions.

Role of $Λ(1670)$ in the $γp \to K^+ ηΛ$ reaction near threshold

The role of the $Λ(1670)$ resonance in the $γp \to K^+ ηΛ$ reaction near threshold is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach. We perform a calculation for the total and differential cross section of the $γp \to K^+ ηΛ$ reaction by including the contributions from the $Λ(1670)$ intermediate state decaying into $ηΛ$ dominated by $K^-$ and $K^{*-}$ mesons exchanges, the nucleon pole and $N^*(1535)$ resonance decaying into $K^+ Λ$ dominated by exchanges of $ω$ and $K^-$ mesons. Besides, the non-resonance process and contact terms to keep the total scattering amplitude gauge invariant are also considered. With our model parameters, the total cross section of this reaction is of the order of $1$ nanobarn at photon beam energy $E_γ \sim 2.5$ GeV. It is expected that our model predictions could be tested by future experiments.

Nucleon pole contribution in the $pp\to ppK^+K^-$ reaction below the $ϕ$ meson threshold

Nucleon pole contribution in the $pp\to ppK^+K^-$ reaction below the threshold of the production of the $ϕ$ meson is studied within the effective Lagrangian approach. It is assumed that the $K^- p$ final state originates from the decay of the hyperons $Λ(1115)$ and $Λ(1405)$. In addition to the $pp$ final state interaction (FSI) parametrized using the Jost function, we have also considered the $K^+K^-$ FSI with the techniques of the chiral unitary approach, where the scalar mesons $f_0(980)$ and $a_0(980)$ were dynamically generated. Hence, the contributions from scalar mesons $f_0(980)$ and $a_0(980)$ occur through the $K^+ K^-$ FSI. It is shown that the available experimental data are well reproduced, especially the total cross sections and the invariant mass distributions of $pp$ and $K^+K^-$. Furthermore, different forms of the couplings (pseudoscalar and pseudovector) for the $πNN$ interaction and different strengths for the proton-proton FSI are also investigated. It is found that the contributions from hyperon $Λ(1115)$ and $Λ(1405)$ are different between these two kinds of couplings. On the other hand, the effects of the proton-proton FSI can be adjusted by the cut off parameters used in the form factors.

Understanding the charmed states recently observed by the LHCb and BaBar Collaborations in the quark model

Comparing the expected spectroscopy in the relativistic quark model and the predicted strong decays in the $^3P_0$ model employing the realistic wave functions from the relativistic quark model with the measured properties of the LHCb and BaBar charmed states, we find that the masses and strong decays of these charmed states can be reasonably explained in the conventional $q\bar{q}$ picture, and therefore suggest that the $D(2550)$/$D_J(2580)$, $D^*(2600)$/$D^*_J(2650)$, $D(2750)$/$D_J(2740)$, $D^*(2760)$/$D^*_J(2760)$, $D_J(3000)$, and $D^*_J(3000)$ can be identified as the $D(2^1S_0)$, $D(2^3S_1)$, $D^\prime_2(1D)$, $D(1^3D_3)$, $D(3^1S_0)$, and $D(1^3F_4)$, respectively.

The near threshold $π^- p \to ηn$ reaction in an effective Lagrangian approach

The near threshold $π^- p \to ηn$ reaction is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach and the isobar model. By considering the contributions from $s$- and $u$-channel nucleon pole and $N^{*}(1535)$ resonance, the total and differential cross sections of the $π^- p \to ηn$ reaction near threshold are calculated. Our theoretical results can fairly reproduce the current experimental data. It is also shown that while the center-of-mass energy lies in the range from the reaction threshold up to $1.65$ GeV, $s$-channel $N^{*}(1535)$ resonance plays the dominant role. The effect from nucleon pole is found to be small but the interference terms between the $N^*(1535)$ resonance and the nucleon pole are significant. The contributions from $t$-channel processes are negligible in the present calculation.
