The permutability of $σ_i$-sylowizers of some $σ_i$-subgroups in finite groups

Let $σ=\{σ_{i}|i\in I\}$ be a partition of the set of all primes $\mathbb{P}$, $G$ a finite group and $σ(G)=\{σ_{i}|σ_{i}\cap π(|G|)\neq\emptyset\}$. A subgroup $S$ of a group $G$ is called a $σ_i$-sylowizer of a $σ_i$-subgroup $R$ in $G$ if $S$ is maximal in $G$ with respect to having $R$ as its Hall $σ_i$-subgroup. The main aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of $σ_i$-sylowizers on the structure of finite groups. We obtained some new characterizations of supersoluble groups by the permutability of the $σ_i$-sylowizers of some $σ_i$-subgroups.

When is the search of relatively maximal subgroups reduced to quotients?

Let ${\mathfrak{X}}$ be a class of finite groups closed under taking subgroups, homomorphic images, and extensions. Denote by ${\mathrm{k}}_{\mathfrak{X}}(G)$ the number of conjugacy classes ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal subgroups of a finite group $G$. The natural problem to describe up to conjugacy ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal subgroups of a given finite group is complicated by the fact that it is not inductive. In particular, generally speaking, the image of an ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal subgroup is not ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal in the image of a homomorphism. Nevertheless, there are group homomorphisms which preserve the number of conjugacy classes of ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal subgroups (for example, the homomorphisms whose kernels are ${\mathfrak{X}}$-groups). Under such homomorphisms, the image of an ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal subgroup is always ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal and, moreover, there is a natural bijection between the conjugacy classes of ${\mathfrak{X}}$-maximal subgroups of the image and preimage. All such homomorphisms are completely described in the paper. More precisely, it is proved that, for a homomorphism $ϕ$ from a group $G$, the equality ${\mathrm{k}}_{\mathfrak{X}}(G)={\mathrm{k}}_{\mathfrak{X}}(\mathrm{im}\, ϕ)$ holds if and only if ${\mathrm{k}}_{\mathfrak{X}}(\ker ϕ)=1$, which in turn is equivalent to the fact that the composition factors of the kernel of $ϕ$ belong to an explicitly given list.

On a generalisation of finite $T$-groups

Let $σ=\{σ_i |i\in I\}$ is some partition of all primes $\mathbb{P}$ and $G$ a finite group. A subgroup $H$ of $G$ is said to be $σ$-subnormal in $G$ if there exists a subgroup chain $H=H_0\leq H_1\leq \cdots \leq H_n=G$ such that either $H_{i-1}$ is normal in $H_i$ or $H_i/(H_{i-1})_{H_i}$ is a finite $σ_j$-group for some $j \in I$ for $i = 1, \ldots, n$. We call a finite group $G$ a $T_σ$-group if every $σ$-subnormal subgroup is normal in $G$. In this paper, we analyse the structure of the $T_σ$-groups and give some characterisations of the $T_σ$-groups.

The reduction theorem for relatively maximal subgroups

Let $\mathfrak{X}$ be a class of finite groups closed under taking subgroups, homomorphic images and extensions. It is known that if $A$ is a normal subgroup of a finite group $G$ then the image of an $\mathfrak{X}$-maximal subgroup $H$ of $G$ in $G/A$ is not, in general, $\mathfrak{X}$-maximal in $G/A$. We say that the reduction $\mathfrak{X}$-theorem holds for a finite group $A$ if, for every finite group $G$ that is an extension of $A$ (i. e. contains $A$ as a normal subgroup), the number of conjugacy classes of $\mathfrak{X}$-maximal subgroups in $G$ and $G/A$ is the same. The reduction $\mathfrak{X}$-theorem for $A$ implies that $HA/A$ is $\mathfrak{X}$-maximal in $G/A$ for every extension $G$ of $A$ and every $\mathfrak{X}$-maximal subgroup $H$ of $G$. In this paper, we prove that the reduction $\mathfrak{X}$-theorem holds for $A$ if and only if all $\mathfrak{X}$-maximal subgroups are conjugate in $A$ and classify the finite groups with this property in terms of composition factors.

Parametric Sparse Bayesian Dictionary Learning for Multiple Sources Localization with Propagation Parameters Uncertainty and Nonuniform Noise

Received signal strength (RSS) based source localization method is popular due to its simplicity and low cost. However, this method is highly dependent on the propagation model which is not easy to be captured in practice. Moreover, most existing works only consider the single source and the identical measurement noise scenario, while in practice multiple co-channel sources may transmit simultaneously, and the measurement noise tends to be nonuniform. In this paper, we study the multiple co-channel sources localization (MSL) problem under unknown nonuniform noise, while jointly estimating the parametric propagation model. Specifically, we model the MSL problem as being parameterized by the unknown source locations and propagation parameters, and then reformulate it as a joint parametric sparsifying dictionary learning (PSDL) and sparse signal recovery (SSR) problem which is solved under the framework of sparse Bayesian learning with iterative parametric dictionary approximation. Furthermore, multiple snapshot measurements are utilized to improve the localization accuracy, and the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) is derived to analyze the theoretical estimation error bound. Comparing with the state-of-the-art sparsity-based MSL algorithms as well as CRLB, extensive simulations show the importance of jointly inferring the propagation parameters, and highlight the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

Spectra of Cayley graphs

Let $G$ be a group and $S\subseteq G$ its subset such that $S=S^{-1}$, where $S^{-1}=\{s^{-1}\mid s\in S\}$. Then {\it the Cayley graph ${\rm Cay}(G,S)$} is an undirected graph $Γ$ with the vertex set $V(Γ)=G$ and the edge set $E(Γ)=\{(g,gs)\mid g\in G, s\in S\}$. A graph $Γ$ is said to be {\it integral} if every eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix of $Γ$ is integer. In the paper, we prove the following theorem: {\it if a subset $S=S^{-1}$ of $G$ is normal and $s\in S\Rightarrow s^k\in S$ for every $k\in \mathbb{Z}$ such that $(k,|s|)=1$, then ${\rm Cay}(G,S)$ is integral.} In particular, {\it if $S\subseteq G$ is a normal set of involutions, then ${\rm Cay}(G,S)$ is integral.} We also use the theorem to prove that {\it if $G=A_n$ and $S=\{(12i)^{\pm1}\mid i=3,\dots,n\}$, then ${\rm Cay}(G,S)$ is integral.} Thus, we give positive solutions for both problems 19.50(a) and 19.50(b) in "Kourovka Notebook".

Finite groups whose $n$-maximal subgroups are $σ$-subnormal

Let $σ=\{σ_{i} | i\in I\}$ be some partition of the set of all primes $\Bbb{P}$. A set ${\cal H}$ of subgroups of $G$ is said to be a \emph{complete Hall $σ$-set} of $G$ if every member $\ne 1$ of ${\cal H}$ is a Hall $σ_{i}$-subgroup of $G$, for some $i\in I$, and $\cal H$ contains exact one Hall $σ_{i}$-subgroup of $G$ for every $σ_{i}\in σ(G)$. A subgroup $H$ of $G$ is said to be: \emph{$σ$-permutable} or \emph{$σ$-quasinormal} in $G$ if $G$ possesses a complete Hall $σ$-set set ${\cal H}$ such that $HA^{x}=A^{x}H$ for all $A\in {\cal H}$ and $x\in G$: \emph{$σ$-subnormal} in $G$ if there is a subgroup chain $A=A_{0} \leq A_{1} \leq \cdots \leq A_{t}=G$ such that either $A_{i-1}\trianglelefteq A_{i}$ or $A_{i}/(A_{i-1})_{A_{i}}$ is a finite $σ_{i}$-group for some $σ_{i}\in σ$ for all $i=1, \ldots t$. If each $n$-maximal subgroup of $G$ is $σ$-subnormal ($σ$-quasinormal, respectively) in $G$ but, in the case $ n > 1$, some $(n-1)$-maximal subgroup is not $σ$-subnormal (not $σ$-quasinormal, respectively)) in $G$, we write $m_σ(G)=n$ ($m_{σq}(G)=n$, respectively). In this paper, we show that the parameters $m_σ(G)$ and $m_{σq}(G)$ make possible to bound the $σ$-nilpotent length $ \ l_σ(G)$ (see below the definitions of the terms employed), the rank $r(G)$ and the number $|π(G)|$ of all distinct primes dividing the order $|G|$ of a finite soluble group $G$. We also give conditions under which a finite group is $σ$-soluble or $σ$-nilpotent, and describe the structure of a finite soluble group $G$ in the case when $m_σ(G)=|π(G)|$. Some known results are generalized.

On $σ$-semipermutable subgroups of finite groups

Let $σ=\{σ_{i} | i\in I\}$ be some partition of the set of all primes $\Bbb{P}$, $G$ a finite group and $σ(G) =\{σ_{i} |σ_{i}\cap π(G)\ne \emptyset \}$. A set ${\cal H}$ of subgroups of $G$ is said to be a \emph{complete Hall $σ$-set} of $G$ if every member $\ne 1$ of ${\cal H}$ is a Hall $σ_{i}$-subgroup of $G$ for some $σ_{i}\in σ$ and ${\cal H}$ contains exact one Hall $σ_{i}$-subgroup of $G$ for every $σ_{i}\in σ(G)$. A subgroup $H$ of $G$ is said to be: \emph{$σ$-semipermutable in $G$ with respect to ${\cal H}$} if $HH_{i}^{x}=H_{i}^{x}H$ for all $x\in G$ and all $H_i\in {\cal H}$ such that $(|H|, |H_{i}|)=1$; \emph{$σ$-semipermutable in $G$} if $H$ is $σ$-semipermutable in $G$ with respect to some complete Hall $σ$-set of $G$. We study the structure of $G$ being based on the assumption that some subgroups of $G$ are $σ$-semipermutable in $G$.

On finite groups with some primary subgroups satisfying partial $S$-$Π$-property

A $p$-subgroup $H$ of a finite group $G$ is said to satisfy partial $S$-$Π$-property in $G$ if $G$ has a chief series $Γ_{G}: 1=G_{0}<G_{1}<\cdots<G_{n}=G$ such that for every $G$-chief factor $G_{i}/G_{i-1}$ $(1\leqslant i\leqslant n)$ of $Γ_{G}$, either $(H\cap G_{i})G_{i-1}/G_{i-1}$ is a Sylow $p$-subgroup of $G_{i}/G_{i-1}$ or $|G/G_{i-1}: N_{G/G_{i-1}}((H\cap G_{i})G_{i-1}/G_{i-1})|$ is a $p$-number. In this paper, we mainly investigate the structure of finite groups with some primary subgroups satisfying partial $S$-$Π$-property.

On supersolubility of finite groups admitting a Frobenius group of automorphisms with fixed-point-free kernel

Assume that a finite group $G$ admits a Frobenius group of automorphisms $FH$ with kernel $F$ and complement $H$ such that $C_{G}(F)=1$. In this paper, we investigate this situation and prove that if $C_G(H)$ is supersoluble and $C_{G'}(H)$ is nilpotent, then $G$ is supersoluble. Also, we show that $G$ is a Sylow tower group of a certain type if $C_{G}(H)$ is a Sylow tower group of the same type.

Confirmation for Wielandt's conjecture

Let $π$ be a set of primes. By H.Wielandt definition, {\it Sylow $π$-theorem} holds for a finite group $G$ if all maximal $π$-subgroups of $G$ are conjugate. In the paper, the following statement is proven. Assume that $π$ is a union of disjoint subsets $σ$ and $τ$ and a finite group $G$ possesses a $π$-Hall subgroup which is a direct product of a $σ$-subgroup and a $τ$-subgroup. Furthermore, assume that both the Sylow $σ$-theorem and $τ$-theorem hold for $G$. Then the Sylow $π$-theorem holds for $G$. This result confirms a conjecture posed by H.\,Wielandt in~1959.

On $Π$-supplemented subgroups of a finite group

A subgroup $H$ of a finite group $G$ is said to satisfy $Π$-property in $G$ if for every chief factor $L/K$ of $G$, $|G/K:N_{G/K}(HK/K\cap L/K)|$ is a $π(HK/K\cap L/K)$-number. A subgroup $H$ of $G$ is called to be $Π$-supplemented in $G$ if there exists a subgroup $T$ of $G$ such that $G=HT$ and $H\cap T\leq I\leq H$, where $I$ satisfies $Π$-property in $G$. In this paper, we investigate the structure of a finite group $G$ under the assumption that some primary subgroups of $G$ are $Π$-supplemented in $G$. The main result we proved improves a large number of earlier results.

On partial $Π$-property of subgroups of finite groups

Let $H$ be a subgroup of a finite group $G$. We say that $H$ satisfies partial $Π$-property in $G$ if there exists a chief series $\mathitΓ_G:1=G_0<G_1<\cdots<G_n=G$ of $G$ such that for every $G$-chief factor $G_i/G_{i-1}$ ($1\leq i\leq n$) of $\mathitΓ_G$, $|G/G_{i-1}:N_{G/G_{i-1}}(HG_{i-1}/G_{i-1}\cap G_i/G_{i-1})|$ is a $π(HG_{i-1}/G_{i-1}\cap G_i/G_{i-1})$-number. Our main results are listed here: Theorem A. Let $\mathfrak{F}$ be a solubly saturated formation containing $\mathfrak{U}$ and $E$ a normal subgroup of $G$ with $G/E\in \mathfrak{F}$. Let $X\unlhd G$ such that $F_p^*(E)\leq X\leq E$. Suppose that for any Sylow $p$-subgroup $P$ of $X$, every maximal subgroup of $P$ satisfies partial $Π$-property in $G$. Then one of the following holds: (1) $G\in \mathfrak{G}_{p'}\mathfrak{F}$. (2) $X/O_{p'}(X)$ is a quasisimple group with Sylow $p$-subgroups of order $p$. In particular, if $X=F_p^*(E)$, then $X/O_{p'}(X)$ is a simple group. Theorem B. Let $\mathfrak{F}$ be a solubly saturated formation containing $\mathfrak{U}$ and $E$ a normal subgroup of $G$ with $G/E\in \mathfrak{F}$. Suppose that for any Sylow $p$-subgroup $P$ of $F_p^*(E)$, every cyclic subgroup of $P$ of prime order or order 4 (when $P$ is not quaternion-free) satisfies partial $Π$-property in $G$. Then $G\in \mathfrak{G}_{p'}\mathfrak{F}$.

On the $π$$\mathfrak{F}$-norm and the $\mathfrak{H}$-$\mathfrak{F}$-norm of a finite group

Let $\mathfrak{H}$ be a Fitting class and $\mathfrak{F}$ a formation. We call a subgroup $\mathcal{N}_{\mathfrak{H},\mathfrak{F}}(G)$ of a finite group $G$ the $\mathfrak{H}$-$\mathfrak{F}$-norm of $G$ if $\mathcal{N}_{\mathfrak{H},\mathfrak{F}}(G)$ is the intersection of the normalizers of the products of the $\mathfrak{F}$-residuals of all subgroups of $G$ and the $\mathfrak{H}$-radical of $G$. Let $π$ denote a set of primes and let $\mathfrak{G}_π$ denote the class of all finite $π$-groups. We call the subgroup $\mathcal{N}_{\mathfrak{G}_π,\mathfrak{F}}(G)$ of $G$ the $π\mathfrak{F}$-norm of $G$. A normal subgroup $N$ of $G$ is called $π\mathfrak{F}$-hypercentral in $G$ if either $N=1$ or $N>1$ and every $G$-chief factor below $N$ of order divisible by at least one prime in $π$ is $\mathfrak{F}$-central in $G$. Let $Z_{π\mathfrak{F}}(G)$ denote the $π\mathfrak{F}$-hypercentre of $G$, that is, the product of all $π\mathfrak{F}$-hypercentral normal subgroups of $G$. In this paper, we study the properties of the $\mathfrak{H}$-$\mathfrak{F}$-norm, especially of the $π\mathfrak{F}$-norm of a finite group $G$. In particular, we investigate the relationship between the $π'\mathfrak{F}$-norm and the $π\mathfrak{F}$-hypercentre of $G$.

On weakly $\frak{F}_{s}$-quasinormal subgroups of finite groups

A subgroup $H$ of $G$ is said to be weakly $\mathfrak{F}_{s}$-quasinormal in $G$ if $G$ has an $S$-quasinormal subgroup $T$ such that $HT$ is $S$-quasinormal in $G$ and $(H\cap T)H_{G}/H_{G}\leq Z_{\mathfrak{F}}(G/H_{G})$, where $Z_{\mathfrak{F}}(G/H_{G})$ denotes the $\mathfrak{F}$-hypercenter of $G/H_{G}$. In this paper, we study the structure of finite groups by using the concept of weakly $\mathfrak{F}_{s}$-quasinormal subgroups.

The influence of $\mathfrak{F_{\mathrm s}}$-quasinormality of subgroups on the structure of finite groups

Let $\frak{F}$ be a class of finite groups. A subgroup $H$ of a finite group $G$ is said to be $\mathfrak{F_{\mathrm s}}$-quasinormal in $G$ if there exists a normal subgroup $T$ of $G$ such that $HT$ is $s$-permutable in $G$ and $(H\cap T)H_G/H_G$ is contained in the $\frak{F}$-hypercenter $Z_\infty^\mathfrak{F}(G/H_G)$ of $G/H_G$. In this paper, we investigate further the influence of $\mathfrak{F_{\mathrm s}}$-quasinormality of some subgroups on the structure of finite groups. New characterization of some classes of finite groups are obtained.

On weakly S-embedded subgroups and weakly $τ$-embedded subgroups

Let $G$ be a finite group. A subgroup $H$ of $G$ is said to be weakly S-embedded in $G$ if there exists $K\unlhd G$ such that $HK$ is S-quasinormal in $G$ and $H\cap K\leq H_{seG}$, where $H_{seG}$ is the subgroup generated by all those subgroups of $H$ which are S-quasinormally embedded in $G$. We say that $H$ is weakly $τ$-embedded in $G$ if there exists $K\unlhd G$ such that $HK$ is S-quasinormal in $G$ and $H\cap K\leq H_{τG}$, where $H_{τG}$ is the subgroup generated by all those subgroups of $H$ which are $τ$-quasinormal in $G$. In this paper, we study the properties of the weakly S-embedded subgroups and the weakly $τ$-embedded subgroups, and use them to determine the structure of finite groups.

On the intersection of the $\cal F$-maximal subgroups and the generalized ${\cal F}$-hypercentre of a finite group

Let $\cal F$ be a class of groups. A chief factor $H/K$ of a group $G$ is called \emph{${\cal F}$-central in $G$} provided $(H/K)\rtimes (G/C_{G}(H/K)) \in {\cal F}$. We write $Z_{π{\cal F}}(G)$ to denote the product of all normal subgroups of $G$ whose $G$-chief factors of order divisible by at least one prime in $π$ are $\cal F$-central. We call $Z_{π{\cal F}}(G)$ the $π{\cal F}$-hypercentre of $G$. A subgroup $U$ of a group $G$ is called \emph{$\cal F$-maximal} in $G$ provided that (a) $U\in {\cal F}$, and (b) if $U\leq V\leq G$ and $V\in {\cal F}$, then $U=V$. In this paper we study the properties of the intersection of all $\cal F$-maximal subgroups of a finite group. In particular, we analyze the condition under which $Z_{π{\cal F}}(G)$ coincides with the intersection of all $\cal F$-maximal subgroups of $G$.
