Non-Schurian indecomposables via intersection theory

For an acyclic quiver with three vertices, we consider the canonical decomposition of a non-Schurian root and associate certain representations of a generalized Kronecker quiver. These representations correspond to points contained in the intersection of two subvarieties of a Grassmannian and give rise to representations of the original quiver, preserving indecomposability. We show that these subvarieties intersect using Schubert calculus. Provided that the intersection contains a Schurian representation, it already contains an open subset of Schurian representations whose dimension is what we expect by Kac's Theorem.

On the recursive construction of indecomposable quiver representations

For a fixed root of a quiver, it is a very hard problem to construct all or even only one indecomposable representation with this root as dimension vector. We investigate two methods which can be used for this purpose. In both cases we get an embedding of the category of representations of a new quiver into the category of representations of the original one which increases dimension vectors. Thus it can be used to construct indecomposable representations of the original quiver recursively. Actually, it turns out that there is a huge class of representations which can be constructed using these methods.

Quiver Grassmannians of type extended Dynkin type D - Part 1: Schubert systems and decompositions into affine spaces

Let $Q$ be a quiver of extended Dynkin type $D$. In this first of two papers, we show that the quiver Grassmannian $Gr_e(M)$ has a decomposition into affine spaces for every dimension vector $e$ and every indecomposable representation $M$ of defect $-1$ and defect $0$, with exception of the non-Schurian representations in homogeneous tubes. We characterize the affine spaces in terms of the combinatorics of a fixed coefficient quiver for $M$. The method of proof is to exhibit explicit equations for the Schubert cells of $Gr_e(M)$ and to solve this system of equations successively in linear terms. This leads to an intricate combinatorial problem, for whose solution we develop the theory of Schubert systems. In the sequel to this paper, we extend the result of this paper to all indecomposable representations $M$ of $Q$ and determine explicit formulae for their $F$-polynomials.

On the Euler characteristic of Kronecker moduli spaces

Combining the MPS degeneration formula for the Poincaré polynomial of moduli spaces of stable quiver representations and localization theory, it turns that the determination of the Euler characteristic of these moduli spaces reduces to a combinatorial problem of counting certain trees. We use this fact in order to obtain an upper bound for the Euler characteristic in the case of the Kronecker quiver. We also derive a formula for the Euler characteristic of some of the moduli spaces appearing in the MPS degeneration formula.

Unitarizable representations of quivers

We investigate representations of *-algebras associated with posets. Unitarizable representations of the corresponding (bound) quivers (which are polystable representations for some appropriately chosen slope function) give rise to representations of these algebras. Considering posets which correspond to unbound quivers this leads to an ADE-classification which describes the unitarization behaviour of their representations. Considering posets which correspond to bound quivers, it is possible to construct unitarizable representations starting with polystable representations of related unbound quivers which can be glued together with a suitable direct sum of simple representations. Finally, we estimate the number of complex parameters parametrizing irreducible unitary non-equivalent representations of the corresponding algebras.

Localization in quiver moduli spaces

Torus fixed points of quiver moduli spaces are given by stable representations of the universal (abelian) covering quiver. As far as the Kronecker quiver is concerned they can be described by stable representations of certain bipartite quivers coming along with a stable colouring. By use of the glueing method it is possible to construct a huge class of such quivers implying a lower bound for the Euler characteristic. For certain roots it is even possible to construct all torus fixed points.

MPS degeneration formula for quiver moduli and refined GW/Kronecker correspondence

Motivated by string-theoretic arguments Manschot, Pioline and Sen discovered a new remarkable formula for the Poincare polynomial of a smooth compact moduli space of stable quiver representations which effectively reduces to the abelian case (i.e. thin dimension vectors). We first prove a motivic generalization of this formula, valid for arbitrary quivers, dimension vectors and stabilities. In the case of complete bipartite quivers we use the refined GW/Kronecker correspondence between Euler characteristics of quiver moduli and Gromov-Witten invariants to identify the MPS formula for Euler characteristics with a standard degeneration formula in Gromov-Witten theory. Finally we combine the MPS formula with localization techniques, obtaining a new formula for quiver Euler characteristics as a sum over trees, and constructing many examples of explicit correspondences between quiver representations and tropical curves.

Refined GW/Kronecker correspondence

Gromov-Witten invariants of weighted projective planes and Euler characteristics of moduli spaces of representations of bipartite quivers are related via the tropical vertex, a group of formal automorphisms of a torus. On the Gromov-Witten side, this uses the work of Gross, Pandharipande and Siebert. The quiver moduli side features quiver wall-crossing formulas, functional equations for Euler characteristics, and localization techniques. We derive several explicit formulas for Gromov-Witten invariants.
