Photoinduced 120-degree spin order in the Kondo-lattice model on a triangular lattice

We theoretically predict the emergence of 120-degree spin order as a nonequilibrium steady state in the photodriven Kondo-lattice model on a triangular lattice. In the system away from the half filling with ferromagnetic ground state, the photoexcitation of conduction electrons and the photoinduced renormalization of bandwidth cause reconstruction of band structure and subsequent redistribution of the electrons through relaxations, which result in an electronic structure similar to that in the half-filled system at equilibrium, where the 120-degree spin order is stabilized. In this photoinduced 120-degree spin ordered phase, domains of different spin-ordered planes are formed, and vortices of spin chirality vectors called $Z_2$ vortices appear at points where multiple domains meet. We also discuss favorable conditions and experimental feasibility to observe the predicted photoinduced magnetic phase transition by investigating dependencies on the light parameters (amplitude, frequency, and polarization), the electron filling, the strength of Kondo coupling, and the effects of antiferromagnetic coupling among the localized spins. Photoinduced magnetic structures proposed so far have been limited to simple collinear (anti)ferromagnetic orders or local magnetic defects in magnets. The present work paves a way to optical creation of complex noncollinear magnetisms as global nonequilibrium steady phase in photodriven systems.

Polarized Raman Response of Two-Dimensional Quasiperiodic Antiferromagnets: Configuration-Interaction versus Green's Function Approaches

We study Raman response of Heisenberg antiferromagnets on the $\mathbf{C}_\mathrm{5v}$ Penrose and $\mathbf{C}_\mathrm{8v}$ Ammann-Beenker lattices within and beyond the Loudon-Fleury second-order perturbation scheme intending to explore optical features peculiar to quasiperiodic magnets. Within the Loudon-Fleury mechanism, we find one and only Raman-active mode of $\mathrm{E}_2$ symmetry without any dependence on linear incident and scattered polarizations. Beyond the Loudon-Fleury mechanism, two more symmetry species $\mathrm{A}_1$ and $\mathrm{A}_2$ are activated via dynamic ring exchange and chiral spin fluctuations, respectively, which can be extracted by the use of circular as well as linear polarizations. We employ Green's functions on one hand and configuration-interaction wavefunctions on the other hand to calculate the multimagnon contributions to inelastic light scatterings. Demonstrating the great advantage of the configuration-interaction scheme, we reveal that a major portion of the Shastry-Shraiman fourth-order Raman intensity is mediated by multimagnon fluctuations.

$ΛΛ$ and N$Ξ$ interactions from Lattice QCD near the physical point

The $S$-wave $ΛΛ$ and $N Ξ$ interactions are studied on the basis of the (2+1)-flavor lattice QCD simulations close to the physical point ($m_π\simeq 146{\rm{MeV}}$ and $m_K \simeq 525{\rm{MeV}}$). Lattice QCD potentials in four different spin-isospin channels are extracted by using the coupled-channel HAL QCD method and are parametrized by analytic functions to calculate the scattering phase shifts. The $ΛΛ$ interaction at low energies shows only a weak attraction, which does not provide a bound or resonant dihyperon. The $NΞ$ interaction in the spin-singlet and isospin-singlet channel is most attractive and lead the $NΞ$ system near unitarity. Relevance to the strangeness=$-2$ hypernuclei as well as to two-baryon correlations in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions is also discussed.

Theory of the Inverse Faraday Effect due to the Rashba Spin-Oribt Interactions: Roles of Band Dispersions and Fermi Surfaces

We theoretically study the inverse Faraday effect, i.e., the optical induction of spin polarization with circularly polarized light, by particularly focusing on effects of band dispersions and Fermi surfaces in crystal systems with the spin-orbit interaction (SOI). By numerically solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation of a tight-binding model with the Rashba-type SOI, we reproduce the light-induced spin polarization proportional to $E_0^2/ω^3$ where $E_0$ and $ω$ are the electric-field amplitude and the angular frequency of light, respectively. This optical spin induction is attributed to dynamical magnetoelectric coupling between the light electric field and the electron spins mediated by the SOI. We elucidate that the magnitude and sign of the induced spin polarization sensitively depend on the electron filling. To understand these results, we construct an analytical theory based on the Floquet theorem. The theory successfully explains the dependencies on $E_0$ and $ω$ and ascribes the electron-filling dependence to a momentum-dependent effective magnetic field governed by the Fermi-surface geometry. Several candidate materials and experimental conditions relevant to our theory and model parameters are also discussed. Our findings will enable us to engineer the magneto-optical responses of matters via tuning the material parameters.

Baryon-baryon interactions at short distances -- constituent quark model meets lattice QCD

The interaction energies between two baryons at short distance in different flavor channels are calculated from the constituent quark model (CQM) and are compared with the recent lattice QCD (LQCD) results for baryon-baryon potentials at short distance. We consider the six-quark system with two strange quarks and focus on the quantum numbers, (Flavor,Spin)=(1,0),(8,1),(10,1),($\overline{10}$,1) and (27,0). The interaction energy is defined by subtracting out isolated baryon masses and relative kinetic energy of two baryons from the total energy of a compact six-quark state. We introduce interaction energy ratio between different flavors as a useful measure to test the prediction of CQM. We find that the ratios in CQM show good agreement with those in LQCD, which indicates that the short range part of the baryon-baryon interaction can be understood qualitatively in terms of the Pauli principle and spin-dependent color interaction among constituent quarks.

Fate of the Tetraquark Candidate Zc(3900) from Lattice QCD

The possible exotic meson $Z_{c}(3900)$, found in $e^+ e^-$ reactions, is studied by the method of coupled-channel scattering in lattice QCD. The interaction among $πJ/ψ$, $ρη_{c}$ and $\bar{D}D^{*}$ channels is derived from (2+1)-flavor QCD simulations at $m_π=410$-$700$ MeV. The interaction is dominated by the off-diagonal $πJ/ψ$-$\bar{D}D^{*}$ and $ρη_{c}$-$\bar{D}D^{*}$ couplings, which indicates that the $Z_{c}(3900)$ is not a usual resonance but a threshold cusp. Semi-phenomenological analyses with the coupled-channel interaction are presented to confirm this conclusion.

Nuclear physics from QCD on lattice

We have presented a strategy to study nuclei and nuclear matters from first principles, namely, from QCD. We first compute nucleon-nucleon potentials numerically in lattice QCD, and then use them to investigate properties of nuclei and nuclear matter by various methods developed in nuclear physics. As a demonstration that this strategy works, mass and structure of ^4^He, ^16^O and ^40^Ca, and equation of state of nuclear matters are determined with the lattice QCD induced two-nucleon potentials in a heavy quark region as an input. We have found that these nuclei and the symmetric nuclear matter are bound at one quark mass corresponding to the pseudo-scalar meson (pion) mass of 469 MeV (the octet baryon (nucleon) mass of 1161 MeV). The obtained binding energy per nucleon has a uniform mass-number A dependence which is consistent to the Bethe-Weizsacker mass formula qualitatively. The present study demonstrates that our strategy works well to investigate various properties of atomic nuclei and nuclear matter starting from QCD, without depending on models or experimental information about the nuclear force.

Towards Lattice QCD Baryon Forces at the Physical Point: First Results

Lattice QCD calculations of baryon forces are performed for the first time with (almost) physical quark masses. $N_f = 2+1$ dynamical clover fermion gauge configurations are generated at the lattice spacing of $a \simeq 0.085$ fm on a $(96 a)^4 \simeq (8.2 {\rm fm})^4$ lattice with quark masses corresponding to $(m_π, m_K) \simeq (146, 525)$ MeV. Baryon forces are calculated using the time-dependent HAL QCD method. In this report, we study $ΞΞ$ and $NN$ systems both in $^1S_0$ and $^3S_1$-$^3D_1$ channels, and the results for the central and tensor forces as well as phase shifts in the $ΞΞ$ $(^1S_0)$ channel are presented.

$ΩΩ$ interaction from 2+1 flavor lattice QCD

We investigate the interaction between $Ω$ baryons in the $^1S_0$ channel from 2+1 flavor lattice QCD simulations. On the basis of the HAL QCD method, the $ΩΩ$ potential is extracted from the Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave function calculated on the lattice by using the PACS-CS gauge configurations with the lattice spacing $a\simeq 0.09$ fm, the lattice volume $L\simeq 2.9$ fm and the quark masses corresponding to $m_π\simeq 700$ MeV and $m_Ω\simeq 1970$ MeV. The $ΩΩ$ potential has a repulsive core at short distance and an attractive well at intermediate distance. Accordingly, the phase shift obtained from the potential shows moderate attraction at low energies. Our data indicate that the $ΩΩ$ system with the present quark masses may appear close to the unitary limit where the scattering length diverges.

Application of a coupled-channel Complex Scaling Method with Feshbach projection to the $K^-pp$ system

Kaonic nuclei (nuclear system with anti-kaons) have been an interesting subject in hadron and strange nuclear physics, because the strong attraction between anti-kaon and nucleon might bring exotic properties to that system. In this article, we investigate $K^-pp$ as a prototype of kaonic nuclei. Here, $K^-pp$ is a three-body resonant state in the $\bar{K}NN$-$πYN$ coupled channels. ($Y$=$Λ$, $Σ$) To treat resonant states in a coupled-channel system properly, we propose newly a coupled-channel complex scaling method combined with the Feshbach projection (ccCSM+Feshbach method). In this method, the Feshbach projection is realized with help of so-called the extended closure relation held in the complex scaling method, and a complicated coupled-channel problem is reduced to a simple single-channel problem which one can treat easily. First, we confirm that the ccCSM+Feshbach method completely reproduces results of a full coupled-channel calculation in case of two-body $\bar{K}N$-$πY$ system. We then proceed to study of three-body $\bar{K}NN$-$πYN$ system, and successfully find solutions of the $K^-pp$ resonance by imposing self-consistency for the complex $\bar{K}N$ energy. Obtained binding energy of $K^-pp$ is well converged around 27 MeV, with an energy-dependent $\bar{K}N$(-$πY$) potential based on the chiral SU(3) theory, independently of ansatz for the self-consistency. This binding energy is small as ones reported in earlier studies based on chiral models. The decay width of $K^-pp$ strongly depends on the ansatz. We calculate also the correlation density of $NN$ and $\bar{K}N$ pairs by using the obtained complex-scaled wave function of the $K^-pp$ resonance. Effect of the repulsive core of $NN$ potential and survival of $Λ^*$ resonance are confirmed.

Coupled channel approach to strangeness S = -2 baryon-bayron interactions in Lattice QCD

The baryon-baryon interactions with strangeness S = -2 with the flavor SU(3) breaking are calculated for the first time by using the HAL QCD method extended to coupled channel system in lattice QCD. The potential matrices are extracted from the Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions obtained by the 2+1 flavor gauge configurations of CP-PACS/JLQCD Collaborations with a physical volume of 1.93 fm cubed and with m_pi/m_K = 0.96, 0.90, 0.86. The spatial structure and the quark mass dependence of the potential matrix in the baryon basis and in the SU(3) basis are investigated.

First results of baryon interactions from lattice QCD with physical masses (1) -- General overview and two-nucleon forces --

We present the lattice QCD studies for baryon-baryon interactions for the first time with (almost) physical quark masses. $N_f = 2+1$ gauge configurations are generated with the Iwasaki gauge action and nonperturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson quark action with stout smearing on the lattice of $(96 a)^4 \simeq (8.2 {\rm fm})^4$ with $a \simeq 0.085$ fm, where $m_π\simeq 146$ MeV and $m_K \simeq 525$ MeV. Baryon forces are calculated from Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter (NBS) correlation functions using the time-dependent HAL QCD method. In this report, we first give the general overview of the theoretical frameworks essential to the physical point calculation of baryon forces. We then present the numerical results for the two-nucleon central and tensor forces in $^3S_1$-$^3D_1$ coupled channel and the central force in $^1S_0$ channel. In particular, a clear signal is obtained for the tensor force.

Investigation of $K^{bar}NN$ resonances with a coupled-channel Complex Scaling Method + Feshbach projection

We have investigated a prototype of kaonic nuclei, "$K^-pp$", with a coupled-channel Complex Scaling Method (ccCSM). Combining the ccCSM with Feshbach projection method, we can handle a coupled-channel problem effectively as a single-channel problem. By using an energy-dependent chiral SU(3)-based $\bar{K}N$ potential, the $K^-pp$ ($J^π=0^-$ and $T=1/2$) is obtained to be shallowly bound with the binding energy of 20-30 MeV. The mesonic decay width depends on the interaction parameters and ansatz; the decay width is ranging from 20 to 65 MeV. In case of $J^π=1^-$ state, no three-body $\bar{K}NN$ resonant states are found.

Medium-heavy nuclei from nucleon-nucleon interactions in lattice QCD

On the basis of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock method with the nucleon-nucleon forces obtained from lattice QCD simulations, the properties of the medium-heavy doubly-magic nuclei such as 16^O and 40^Ca are investigated. We found that those nuclei are bound for the pseudo-scalar meson mass M_PS ~ 470 MeV. The mass number dependence of the binding energies, single-particle spectra and density distributions are qualitatively consistent with those expected from empirical data at the physical point, although these hypothetical nuclei at heavy quark mass have smaller binding energies than the real nuclei.

Charmed Tetraquarks Tcc and Tcs from Dynamical Lattice QCD Simulations

Charmed tetraquarks $T_{cc}=(cc\bar{u}\bar{d})$ and $T_{cs}=(cs\bar{u}\bar{d})$ are studied through the S-wave meson-meson interactions, $D$-$D$, $\bar{K}$-$D$, $D$-$D^{*}$ and $\bar{K}$-$D^{*}$, on the basis of the (2+1)-flavor lattice QCD simulations with the pion mass $m_π \simeq $410, 570 and 700 MeV. For the charm quark, the relativistic heavy quark action is employed to treat its dynamics on the lattice. Using the HAL QCD method, we extract the S-wave potentials in lattice QCD simulations, from which the meson-meson scattering phase shifts are calculated. The phase shifts in the isospin triplet ($I$=1) channels indicate repulsive interactions, while those in the $I=0$ channels suggest attraction, growing as $m_π$ decreases. This is particularly prominent in the $T_{cc} (J^P=1^+,I=0)$ channel, though neither bound state nor resonance are found in the range $m_π =410-700$ MeV. We make a qualitative comparison of our results with the phenomenological diquark picture.

Spin-2 $NΩ$ Dibaryon from Lattice QCD

We investigate properties of the $N$(nucleon)-$Ω$(Omega) interaction in lattice QCD to seek for possible dibaryon states in the strangeness $-3$ channel. We calculate the $NΩ$ potential through the equal-time Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave function in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD with the renormalization group improved Iwasaki gauge action and the nonperturbatively $\mathcal{O}(a)$ improved Wilson quark action at the lattice spacing $a\simeq 0.12$ fm on a (1.9 fm)$^{3}\times$ 3.8 fm lattice. The $ud$ and $s$ quark masses in our study correspond to $m_π= 875(1)$ MeV and $m_{K}= 916(1)$ MeV. At these parameter values, the central potential in the S-wave with the spin 2 shows attractions at all distances.By solving the Schrödinger equation with this potential, we find one bound state whose binding energy is $18.9(5.0)(^{+12.1}_{-1.8})$ MeV, where the first error is the statistical one, while the second represents the systematic error.

Asymptotic behavior of Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions for multi-particles in quantum field theories

We derive asymptotic behaviors of the Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter (NBS) wave function at large space separations for systems with more than 2 particles in quantum field theories. To deal with $n$-particles in the center of mass flame coherently, we introduce the Jacob coordinates of $n$ particles and then combine their $3(n-1)$ coordinates into the one spherical coordinate in $D=3(n-1)$ dimensions. We parametrize on-shell $T$-matrix for $n$-particle system of scalar fields at low energy, using the unitarity constraint of the $S$-matrix. We then express asymptotic behaviors of the NBS wave function for $n$ particles at low energy, in terms of parameters of $T$-matrix, and show that the NBS wave function carry the information of $T$-matrix such as phase shifts and mixing angles of the $n$-particle system in its own asymptotic behavior, so that the NBS wave function can be considered as the scattering wave of $n$-particles in quantum mechanics. This property is one of the essential ingredients of the HAL QCD scheme to define "potential" from the NBS wave function in quantum field theories such as QCD. Our results, together with an extension to systems with spin 1/2 particles, justify the HAL QCD's definition of potentials for 3 or more nucleons(baryons) in terms the NBS wave functions.

Comprehensive application of a coupled-channel complex scaling method to the KbarN-piY system

We have applied the coupled-channel complex scaling method (ccCSM) to K^{bar}N-πY system. One advantage of ccCSM is that resonant states as well as scattering states can be treated in the same framework. For the interactions in the system, we have constructed a meson-baryon potential-matrix by basing on the chiral SU(3) theory and respecting the K^{bar}N scattering length obtained in the Martin's analysis. For future purpose to apply it more complicated system such as K^{bar}NN, we adopt a local Gaussian form in the r-space. We have investigated both the non-relativistic (NR) and the semi-relativistic (SR) kinematics. In the SR case, two types of the potentials are obtained. To test the constructed potentials, we have calculated scattering amplitudes and searched resonances. One resonance pole, corresponding to Λ(1405), is found in isospin I=0 system around (1419, -20) MeV ((1425, -25) or (1419, -13) MeV) on complex-energy plane with the NR (SR) kinematics. Mean distance between meson and baryon in the resonant state is 1.3 - i0.3 fm (1.2 - i0.5 fm) for NR (SR), in which the states are treated as Gamow states. In addition, we have observed a signature of another pole in lower-energy region involving large decay width, although they are unstable against the change of scaling angle θ. This may correspond to the lower pole of the double-pole of Λ(1405) discussed in literature to date.

Equation of State for Nucleonic Matter and its Quark Mass Dependence from the Nuclear Force in Lattice QCD

Quark mass dependence of the equation of state (EOS) for nucleonic matter is investigated, on the basis of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock method with the nucleon-nucleon interaction extracted from lattice QCD simulations. We observe saturation of nuclear matter at the lightest available quark mass corresponding to the pseudoscalar meson mass ~ 469 MeV. Mass-radius relation of the neutron stars is also studied with the EOS for neutron-star matter from the same nuclear force in lattice QCD. We observe that the EOS becomes stiffer and thus the maximum mass of neutron star increases as the quark mass decreases toward the physical point.

Equation of State of Nucleon Matters from Lattice QCD Simulations

Nucleon matters are studied based on QCD. We extract nucleon-nucleon interaction from lattice QCD simulations in a recently developed approach, and then derive the equations of state of the symmetric nuclear matter and the pure neutron matter, at zero temperature, in the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock framework. We find that QCD reproduce known features of the symmetric nuclear matter, such as the self-binding and saturation, at some values of quark mass. We find also that the pure neutron matter become more stiff at large density as quark mass decrease. We apply these equations of state to neutron star and study its mass and radius.

Construction of energy-independent potentials above inelastic thresholds in quantum field theories

We construct energy independent but non-local potentials above inelastic thresholds, in terms of Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions defined in quantum field theories such as QCD. As an explicit example, we consider NN --> NN + n pi scattering processes for n=0,1,2,.... We show an existence of energy-independent coupled channel potentials with a non-relativistic approximation, where momenta of all particles are small compared with their own masses. In the case of two-body inelastic scatterings such as Lambda Lambda --> Lambda Lambda, N Xi, Sigma Sigma, on the other hand, we show that energy-independent potentials can be constructed without relying on non-relativistic approximations. We also propose a method to extract these potentials using time-dependence of general correlation functions.

Exploring Three-Nucleon Forces in Lattice QCD

Three-nucleon forces (3NF) are investigated from two-flavor lattice QCD simulations. We utilize the Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter (NBS) wave function to determine two-nucleon forces (2NF) and 3NF in the same framework. As a first exploratory study, we extract 3NF in which three nucleons are aligned linearly with an equal spacing. This is the simplest geometrical configuration which reduces the huge computational cost of calculating the NBS wave function. Quantum numbers of the three-nucleon system are chosen to be (I, J^P)=(1/2,1/2^+) (the triton channel). Lattice QCD simulations are performed using N_f=2 dynamical clover fermion configurations at the lattice spacing of a = 0.156 fm on a 16^3 x 32 lattice with a large quark mass corresponding to m_π= 1.13 GeV. We find repulsive 3NF at short distance in the triton channel. Several sources of systematic errors are also discussed.

Hadron-Hadron Interactions from Imaginary-time Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter Wave Function on the Lattice

Imaginary-time Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter (NBS) wave function is introduced to extend our previous approach for hadron-hadron interactions on the lattice. Scattering states of hadrons with different energies encoded in the NBS wave-function are utilized to extract non-local hadron-hadron potential. "The ground state saturation", which is commonly used in lattice QCD but is hard to be achieved for multi-baryons, is not required. We demonstrate that the present method works efficiently for the nucleon-nucleon interaction (the potential and the phase shift) in the 1S_0 channel.

Study of H-dibaryon mass in Lattice QCD

After a brief review of discovery of the H-dibaryon in lattice QCD, effect of the flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking on the H-dibaryon is studied by basing on the baryon-baryon (BB) interactions extracted from QCD on the lattice. Two-Baryon Potentials and H-Dibaryon from 3-flavor Lattice QCD Simulations

Baryon-baryon potentials are obtained from 3-flavor QCD simulations with the lattice volume L ~ 4 fm, the lattice spacing a ~ 0.12 fm, and the pseudo-scalar-meson mass M_ps =469 - 1171 MeV. The NN scattering phase shift and the mass of H-dibaryon in the flavor SU(3) limit are extracted from the resultant potentials by solving the Schrodinger equation. The NN phase shift in the SU(3) limit is shown to have qualitatively similar behavior as the experimental data. A bound H-dibaryon in the SU(3) limit is found to exist in the flavor-singlet J^P=0^+ channel with the binding energy of about 26 MeV for the lightest quark mass M_ps = 469 MeV. Effect of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking on the H-dibaryon is estimated by solving the coupled-channel Schrodinger equation for Lambda Lambda - N Xi - Sigma Sigma with the physical baryon masses and the potential matrix obtained in the SU(3) limit: a resonant H-dibaryon is found between Lambda Lambda and N Xi thresholds in this treatment.

The BB potentials in the orbital S-wave are extracted from the Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions measured on the lattice. We observe strong flavor-spin dependences of the BB potentials at short distances. In particular, a strong repulsive core exists in the flavor-octet and spin-singlet channel (the 8_s representation), while an attractive core appears in the flavor singlet channel (the 1 representation). Direct quark transition potential for $ΛN \to NN$ decay

The weak $ΛN\to NN$ transition is studied in the valence quark model approach. The quark component of the two baryon system is described in the quark cluster model and the weak transition potential is calculated by evaluating the matrix elements of the $ΔS=1$ effective weak Hamiltonian. The transition potential is applied to the decay of hypernuclei and the results are compared with available experimental data. The results indicate that direct quark process is significant and qualitatively different when compared with those in conventional meson-exchange calculations. The direct quark mechanism predicts the violation of the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule for this transition.
