New Entropy Formula with Fluctuating Reservoir

Finite heat reservoir capacity and temperature fluctuations lead to modification of the well known canonical exponential weight factor. Requiring that the corrections least depend on the one-particle energy, we derive a deformed entropy, K(S). The resulting formula contains the Boltzmann-Gibbs, the Renyi and the Tsallis formulas as particular cases. For extreme large fluctuations (compared to the Gaussian case) a new, parameter-free entropy - probability relation emerges. This formula and the corresponding canonical equilibrium distribution are nearly Boltzmannian for high probability, but deviate from the classical result for low probability. In the extreme large fluctuation limit the canonical distribution resembles for low probability the cumulative Gompertz distribution.

Non-Extensive Quantum Statistics with Particle - Hole Symmetry

Based on Tsallis entropy and the corresponding deformed exponential function, generalized distribution functions for bosons and fermions have been used since a while. However, aiming at a non-extensive quantum statistics further requirements arise from the symmetric handling of particles and holes (excitations above and below the Fermi level). Naive replacements of the exponential function or cut and paste solutions fail to satisfy this symmetry and to be smooth at the Fermi level at the same time. We solve this problem by a general ansatz dividing the deformed exponential to odd and even terms and demonstrate that how earlier suggestions, like the kappa- and q-exponential behave in this respect.

QCD over $T_c$: hadrons, partons and continuum

In this paper we provide a physical picture for the QCD phase transition in terms of qualitative changes in the spectral functions. Our approach takes into account the crossover nature of this transition and counts for the observed strong correlation seen in higher order susceptibilities. We demonstrate that the hadron resonance gas, which alone describes the thermodynamics at temperatures $T<T_c$, will appreciably contribute to the total pressure until $T\leq 3T_c$. In this intermediate regime the QCD matter consists of strongly correlated excitations, interpretable as either hadrons or partons. As hadronic spectral peaks gradually vanish, the partonic excitations start to form a stand-alone quasiparticle gas. The conventional picture of a quark gluon plasma emerges only at $T\geq 3T_c$.

Fluid dynamical equations and transport coefficients of relativistic gases with non-extensive statistics

We derive equations for fluid dynamics from a non-extensive Boltzmann transport equation consistent with Tsallis' non-extensive entropy formula. We evaluate transport coefficients employing the relaxation time approximation and investigate non-extensive effects in leading order dissipative phenomena at relativistic energies, like heat conductivity, shear and bulk viscosity.

Generalised Tsallis Statistics in Electron-Positron Collisions

The scaling of charged hadron fragmentation functions to the Tsallis distribution for $0.01 \lessapprox x \lessapprox 0.2$ is presented for various $e^+e^-$ collision energies. A possible microcanonical generalisation of the Tsallis distribution is proposed, which gives good agreement with measured data up to $x\approx1$. The proposal is based on superstatistics and a $KNO$ like scaling of multiplicity distributions in $e^+e^-$ experiments.

Unruh gamma radiation at RHIC?

Varying the proposition that acceleration itself would simulate a thermal environment, we investigate the semiclassical photon radiation as a possible telemetric thermometer of accelerated charges. Based on the classical Jackson formula we obtain the equivalent photon intensity spectrum stemming from a constantly accelerated charge and demonstrate its resemblances to a thermal distribution for high transverse momenta. The inverse transverse slope differs from the famous Unruh temperature: it is larger by a factor of pi. We compare the resulting direct photon spectrum with experimental data for AuAu collisions at RHIC and speculate about further, analytically solvable acceleration histories.

Equilibrium statistical mechanics for incomplete nonextensive statistics

The incomplete nonextensive statistics in the canonical and microcanonical ensembles is explored in the general case and in a particular case for the ideal gas. By exact analytical results for the ideal gas it is shown that taking the thermodynamic limit, with $z=q/(1-q)$ being an extensive variable of state, the incomplete nonextensive statistics satisfies the requirements of equilibrium thermodynamics. The thermodynamical potential of the statistical ensemble is a homogeneous function of the first degree of the extensive variables of state. In this case, the incomplete nonextensive statistics is equivalent to the usual Tsallis statistics. If $z$ is an intensive variable of state, i.e. the entropic index $q$ is a universal constant, the requirements of the equilibrium thermodynamics are violated.

Renyi statistics in equilibrium statistical mechanics

The Renyi statistics in the canonical and microcanonical ensembles is examined in the general case and in particular for the ideal gas. In the microcanonical ensemble the Renyi statistics is equivalent with the Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics. By the exact analytical results for the ideal gas, it is shown that in the canonical ensemble in the thermodynamic limit the Renyi statistics is also equivalent with the Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics. Furthermore it satisfies the requirements of the equilibrium thermodynamics, i.e. the thermodynamical potential of the statistical ensemble is a homogeneous function of degree 1 of its extensive variables of state. We conclude that the Renyi statistics duplicates the thermodynamical relations stemming from the Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics in the thermodynamical limit.

Towards thermodynamical consistency of qusiparticle picture

The purpose of the present article is to call attention to some realistic quasiparticle-based description of the quark/gluon matter and its consistent implementation in thermodynamics. A simple and transparent representation of the thermodynamical consistency conditions is given. This representation allows one to review critically and systemize available phenomenological approaches to the deconfinement problem with respect to their thermodynamical consistency. A particular attention is paid to the development of a method for treating the string screening in the dense matter of unbound color charges. The proposed method yields an integrable effective pair potential which can be incorporated into the mean-field picture. The results of its application are in reasonable agreement with lattice data on the QCD thermodynamics.

Particle Spectra from the ALCOR Model

We introduce the Transchemistry Model as a dynamical extension of the Algebraic Coalescence Rehadronization (ALCOR) model in describing the hadronization of quark matter which is expected to be produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Results are presented for CERN SPS NA49 Pb+Pb experiment calculating hadron multiplicities and momentum spectra. The freeze-out properties of different hadrons are characterized by similar temperature, density and flow profiles in cylindrically symmetric geometry.
