Fixed-point iterative algorithm for SVI model

The stochastic volatility inspired (SVI) model is widely used to fit the implied variance smile. Presently, most optimizer algorithms for the SVI model have a strong dependence on the input starting point. In this study, we develop an efficient iterative algorithm for the SVI model based on a fixed-point and least-square optimizer. Furthermore, we present the convergence results in certain situations for this novel iterative algorithm. Compared with the quasi-explicit SVI method, we demonstrate the advantages of the fixed-point iterative algorithm using simulation and market data.

A varying terminal time mean-variance model

To improve the efficient frontier of the classical mean-variance model in continuous time, we propose a varying terminal time mean-variance model with a constraint on the mean value of the portfolio asset, which moves with the varying terminal time. Using the embedding technique from stochastic optimal control in continuous time and varying the terminal time, we determine an optimal strategy and related deterministic terminal time for the model. Our results suggest that doing so for an investment plan requires minimizing the variance with a varying terminal time.

A varying terminal time structure for stochastic optimal control under constrained condition

In this study, we propose a varying terminal time structure for the optimal control problem under state constraints, in which the terminal time follows the varying of the control via the constrained condition. Focusing on this new optimal control problem, we investigate a novel stochastic maximum principle, which differs from the traditional optimal control problem under state constraints. The optimal pair of the optimal control model can be verified via this new stochastic maximum principle.

Bellman type strategy for the continuous time mean-variance model

To investigate a time-consistent optimal strategy for the continuous time mean-variance model, we develop a new method to establish the Bellman principle. Based on this new method, we obtain a time-consistent dynamic optimal strategy that differs from the pre-committed and game-theoretic strategies. A comparison with the existing results on the continuous time mean-variance model shows that our method has several advantages. The explicit solutions of the dynamic optimal strategy and optimal wealth are given. When the dynamic optimal strategy is given at the initial time, we do not change it in the following investment time interval.

Multidimensional viscosity solutions theory of semi-linear partial differential equations

In this study, we concern the multidimensional viscosity solutions theory of a kind of semi-linear partial differential equations (PDEs). A new definition of viscosity solution for this multidimensional semi-linear PDEs which is related to a type of multidimensional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) is given. Further more, we establish the existence and uniqueness results for the viscosity solution of this semi-linear PDEs via the comparison theorem of the related BSDEs and a smooth approximation technique.

The necessary and sufficient conditions for stochastic differential systems with multi-time states cost functional

From economics point of view, we investigate a new optimal control problem driven by a stochastic differential equation with a multi-time states cost functional. By constructing a series of first-order adjoint equations, we establish the stochastic maximum principle and sufficient optimality conditions for this new optimal control problem. A constraints problem also be studied. In the end, we develop a near optimal control problem for a general cost functional.

Monolayer charge-neutral graphene on platinum with extremely weak electron-phonon coupling

Epitaxial growth of graphene on transition metal substrates is an important route for obtaining large scale graphene. However, the interaction between graphene and the substrate often leads to multiple orientations, distorted graphene band structure, large doping and strong electron-phonon coupling. Here we report the growth of monolayer graphene with high crystalline quality on Pt(111) substrate by using a very low concentration of an internal carbon source with high annealing temperature. The controlled growth leads to electronically decoupled graphene: it is nearly charge neutral and has extremely weak electron-phonon coupling (coupling strength $λ$ $\approx$ 0.056) as revealed by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopic measurements. The thermodynamics and kinetics of the carbon diffusion process is investigated by DFT calculation. Such graphene with negligible graphene-substrate interaction provides an important platform for fundamental research as well as device applications when combined with a nondestructive sample transfer technique.

A stochastic recursive optimal control problem under the G-expectation framework

In this paper, we study a stochastic recursive optimal control problem in which the objective functional is described by the solution of a backward stochastic differential equation driven by G-Brownian motion. Under standard assumptions, we establish the dynamic programming principle and the related Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation in the framework of G-expectation. Finally, we show that the value function is the viscosity solution of the obtained HJB equation.

An optimal control problem for functional forward-backward stochastic systems and related Path-dependent HJB equations

In this paper, we study a stochastic recursive optimal control problem in which the system is governed by a functional forward-backward stochastic differential equation. Under standard assumptions, we establish the dynamic programming principle and the related Path-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation in the framework of functional Itô calculus. The stochastic verification theorem for the smooth case is proved. Finally, we show that the value function is the viscosity solution of the Path-dependent HJB equation.

Path-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations related to controlled stochastic functional differential systems

In this paper, a stochastic optimal control problem is investigated in which the system is governed by a stochastic functional differential equation. In the framework of functional Itô calculus, we build the dynamic programming principle and the related Path-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation. We prove that the value function is the viscosity solution of the Path-dependent HJB equation.

Solutions for Functional Fully Coupled Forward-Backward Stochastic Differential Equations

In this paper, we study a functional fully coupled forward-backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs). Under a new type of integral Lipschitz and monotonicity conditions, the existence and uniqueness of solutions for functional fully coupled FBSDEs is proved. We also investigate the relationship between the solution of functional fully coupled FBSDE and the classical solution of the path-dependent partial differential equation (P-PDE). When the solution of the P-PDE has some smooth and regular properties, we solve the related functional fully coupled FBSDE and prove the P-PDE has a unique solution.

Sublinear expectation linear regression

Nonlinear expectation, including sublinear expectation as its special case, is a new and original framework of probability theory and has potential applications in some scientific fields, especially in finance risk measure and management. Under the nonlinear expectation framework, however, the related statistical models and statistical inferences have not yet been well established. The goal of this paper is to construct the sublinear expectation regression and investigate its statistical inference. First, a sublinear expectation linear regression is defined and its identifiability is given. Then, based on the representation theorem of sublinear expectation and the newly defined model, several parameter estimations and model predictions are suggested, the asymptotic normality of estimations and the mini-max property of predictions are obtained. Furthermore, new methods are developed to realize variable selection for high-dimensional model. Finally, simulation studies and a real-life example are carried out to illustrate the new models and methodologies. All notions and methodologies developed are essentially different from classical ones and can be thought of as a foundation for general nonlinear expectation statistics.

The Numerical Properties of G-heat equation and Related Application

In this paper, we consider the numerical convergence of G-heat equation which was first introduced by Peng. The G-heat equation extends the classical heat equation with uncertain volatility. For G-heat equation is nonlinear partial differential equation(PDE), we prove that the Newton iteration is convergence and the fully implicit discretization is monotone and stable. Then, we have the fully implicit discretization convergence to the viscosity solution of a G-heat equation.

Non-Markovian Fully Coupled Forward-Backward Stochastic Systems and Classical Solutions of Path-dependent PDEs

This paper explores the relationship between non-Markovian fully coupled forward-backward stochastic systems and path-dependent PDEs. The definition of classical solution for the path-dependent PDE is given within the framework of functional Itô calculus. Under mild hypotheses, we prove that the forward-backward stochastic system provides the unique classical solution to the path-dependent PDE.
