Existence and non-degeneracy of positive multi-bubbling solutions to critical elliptic systems of Hamiltonian type

This paper deals with the following critical elliptic systems of Hamiltonian type, which are variants of the critical Lane-Emden systems and analogous to the prescribed curvature problem: \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -Δu_1=K_1(y)u_2^{p},\ y\in \mathbb{R}^N,\\ -Δu_2=K_2(y)u_1^{q}, \ y\in \mathbb{R}^N,\\ u_1,u_2>0, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $N\geq 5, p,q\in(1,\infty)$ with $\frac1{p+1}+\frac1{q+1}=\frac{N-2}N$, $K_1(y)$ and $K_2(y)$ are positive radial potentials. At first, under suitable conditions on $K_1,K_2$ and the certain range of the exponents $p,q$, we construct an unbounded sequence of non-radial positive vector solutions, whose energy can be made arbitrarily large. Moreover, we prove a type of non-degeneracy result by use of various Pohozaev identities, which is of great interest independently. The indefinite linear operator and strongly coupled nonlinearities make the Hamiltonian-type systems in stark contrast both to the systems of Gradient type and to the single critical elliptic equations in the study of the prescribed curvature problems. It is worth noting that, in higher-dimensional cases $(N\geq5)$, there have been no results on the existence of infinitely many bubbling solutions to critical elliptic systems, either of Hamiltonian or Gradient type.

Multi-peak semiclassical bound states for Fractional Schrödinger Equations with fast decaying potentials

We study the following fractional Schrödinger equation \begin{equation*}\label{eq0.1} \varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)^s u + V(x)u = f(u), \,\,x\in\mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where $s\in(0,1)$. Under some conditions on $f(u)$, we show that the problem has a family of solutions concentrating at any finite given local minima of $V$ provided that $V\in C(\R^N,[0,+\infty))$. All decay rates of $V$ are admissible. Especially, $V$ can be compactly supported. Different from the local case $s=1$ or the case of single-peak solutions, the nonlocal effect of the operator $(-Δ)^s$ makes the peaks of the candidate solutions affect mutually, which causes more difficulties in finding solutions with multiple bumps. The methods in this paper are penalized technique and variational method.

The $C^0$-convergence at the Neumann boundary for Liouville equations

In this paper, we study the blow-up analysis for a sequence of solutions to the Liouville type equation with exponential Neumann boundary condition. For interior case, i.e. the blow-up point is an interior point, Li \cite{Li} gave a uniform asymptotic estimate. Later, Zhang \cite{Zhang} and Gluck \cite{Gluck} improved Li's estimate in the sense of $C^0$-convergence by using the method of moving planes or classification of solutions of the linearized version of Liouville equation. If the sequence blows up at a boundary point, Bao-Wang-Zhou \cite{Bao-Wang-Zhou} proved a similar asymptotic estimate of Li \cite{Li}. In this paper, we will prove a $C^0$-convergence result in this boundary blow-up process. Our method is different from \cite{Zhang,Gluck}.

The number of positive solutions to the Brezis-Nirenberg problem

In this paper we are concerned with the well-known Brezis-Nirenberg problem \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -Δu= u^{\frac{N+2}{N-2}}+\varepsilon u, &{\text{in}~Ω},\\ u>0, &{\text{in}~Ω},\\ u=0, &{\text{on}~\partial Ω}. \end{cases} \end{equation*} The existence of multi-peak solutions to the above problem for small $\varepsilon>0$ was obtained by Musso and Pistoia. However, the uniqueness or the exact number of positive solutions to the above problem is still unknown. Here we focus on the local uniqueness of multi-peak solutions and the exact number of positive solutions to the above problem for small $\varepsilon>0$. By using various local Pohozaev identities and blow-up analysis, we first detect the relationship between the profile of the blow-up solutions and the Green's function of the domain $Ω$ and then obtain a type of local uniqueness results of blow-up solutions. At last we give a description of the number of positive solutions for small positive $\varepsilon$, which depends also on the Green's function.

Uniqueness and Nondegeneracy of positive solutions to Kirchhoff equations and its applications in singular perturbation problems

In the present paper, we establish the uniqueness and nondegeneracy of positive energy solutions to the Kirchhoff equation \begin{eqnarray*} -\left(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\right)Δu+u=|u|^{p-1}u & & \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{eqnarray*} where $a,b>0$, $1<p<5$ are constants. Then, as applications, we derive the existence and local uniqueness of solutions to the perturbed Kirchhoff problem \begin{eqnarray*} -\left(ε^2a+εb\int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\right)Δu+V(x)u=|u|^{p-1}u & & \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{3} \end{eqnarray*} for $ε>0$ sufficiently small, under some mild assumptions on the potential function $V:\mathbb{R}^3\to \mathbb{R}$. The existence result is obtained by applying the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method. It seems to be the first time to study singularly perturbed Kirchhoff problems by reduction method, as all the previous results were obtained by various variational methods. Another advantage of this approach is that it gives a unified proof to the perturbation problem for all $p\in (1,5)$, which is quite different from using variational methods in the literature. The local uniqueness result is totally new. It is obtained by using a type of local Pohozaev identity, which is developed quite recently by Deng, Lin and Yan in their work "On the prescribed scalar curvature problem in $\mathbb{R}^N$, local uniqueness and periodicity." (see J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) {\bf 104}(2015), 1013-1044).

Uniqueness and nondegeneracy of positive solutions to a class of Kirchhoff equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$

In this paper, we establish a type of uniqueness and nondegeneracy results for positive solutions to the following nonlocal Kirchhoff equations \begin{eqnarray*} -\left(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\text{d} x\right)Δu+u=|u|^{p-1}u & & \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{eqnarray*} where $a,b$ are positive constants and $1<p<5$. Before this paper, it seems that there have no this type of results even on positive ground states solutions to Kirchhoff type equations, much less on general positive solutions. To overcome the difficulty brought by the nonlocality, some new observation on Kirchhoff equations is found, and some related theories on classical Schrödinger equations are applied.

Existence and local uniqueness of bubbling solutions for poly-harmonic equations with critical growth

\begin{abstract} We consider the following poly-harmonic equations with critical exponents: \begin{equation}\label{P} (-Δ)^m u =K(y)u^{\frac{N+2m}{N-2m}},\;\;\; u>0\;\;\;\hbox{in} \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation} where $N> 2m+2,m\in\mathbb{N}_{+}, K(y)$ is positive and periodic in its first $k$ variables $(y_1,\cdots, y_k)$, $1\leq k<\frac{N-2m}{2}$. Under some conditions on $K(y)$ near its critical point, we prove not only that problem~\eqref{P} admits solutions with infinitely many bubbles, but also that the bubbling solutions obtained in our existence result are locally unique. This local uniqueness result implies that some bubbling solutions preserve the symmetry of the scalar curvature $K(y).$

Infinitely many positive solutions for nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations

We consider the following nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation $$ (-Δ)^su+u=K(|x|)u^p,\ \ u>0 \ \ \hbox{in}\ \ R^N, $$ where $K(|x|)$ is a positive radial function, $N\ge 2$, $0<s<1$, $1<p<\frac{N+2s}{N-2s}$. Under some asymptotic assumptions on $K(x)$ at infinity, we show that this problem has infinitely many non-radial positive solutions, whose energy can be made arbitrarily large.

Concentrating Bound States for Kirchhoff type problems in ${\R^3}$ involving critical Sobolev exponents

We study the concentration and multiplicity of weak solutions to the Kirchhoff type equation with critical Sobolev growth \[\left\{\begin{gathered} - \Bigl({\varepsilon ^2}a + \varepsilon b\int_{\R^3} {{{\left| {\nabla u} \right|}^2}} \Bigr)Δu + V(z)u = f(u) + {u^5}{\text{in}}{\R^3}, \hfill u \in {H^1}({\R^3}),{\text{}}u > 0{\text{in}}{\R^3}, \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \right.\] where $\varepsilon $ is a small positive parameter and $a,b > 0$ are constants, $f \in {C^1}({\R^ +},\R)$ is subcritical, $V:{\R^3} \to \R$ is a locally Hölder continuous function. We first prove that for ${\varepsilon_0} > 0$ sufficiently small, the above problem has a weak solution ${u_\varepsilon}$ with exponential decay at infinity. Moreover, ${u_\varepsilon}$ concentrates around a local minimum point of $V$ in $Λ$ as $\varepsilon \to 0$. With minimax theorems and Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we also obtain multiple solutions by employing the topology construct of the set where the potential $V\left(z \right)$ attains its minimum.

Segregated Vector Solutions for linearly coupled Nonlinear Schrödinger Systems

We consider the following system linearly coupled by nonlinear Schrödinger equations in $\R^3$ $$ \left\{\begin{array}{ll} -Δu_j+u_j=u^3_j-\va\sum\limits_{i\neq j}^N u_i,\{1cm}& x\in \R^3, \{0.2cm}\\ u_j\in H^1(\R^3),\quad j=1,\cdots,N, \end{array} \right. $$ where $\va\in\R$ is a coupling constant. This type of system arises in particular in models in nonlinear $N$-core fiber. We examine the effect of the linear coupling to the solution structure. When $N=2,3$, for any prescribed integer $\ell\ge 2$, we construct a non-radial vector solutions of segregated type, with two components having exactly $\ell$ positive bumps for $\va>0$ sufficiently small. We also give an explicit description on the characteristic features of the vector solutions.
