Reverse isoperimetric inequalities for parallel sets

We consider the family of rr-parallel sets in Rd\mathbb{R}^d, that is sets of the form Ar=A+rB2nA_r=A+rB_2^n, where B2nB_2^n is the unit Euclidean ball and AA is an arbitrary Borel set. We show that the ratio between the upper surface area measure of an rr-parallel set and its volume is upper bounded by d/rd/r. Equality is achieved for AA being a single point. As a consequence of our main result we show that the Gaussian upper surface area measure of an rr-parallel set is upper bounded by 18dmax⁡(d,r−1)18d \max(\sqrt{d},r^{-1}). Moreover, we observe that there exists a 11-parallel set with Gaussian surface area measure at least 0.28⋅d1/40.28 \cdot d^{1/4}.

Essentially fully anisotropic Orlicz functions and uniqueness to measure data problem

Studying elliptic measure data problem with strongly nonlinear operator whose growth is described by the means of fully anisotropic NN-function, we prove the uniqueness for a broad class of measures. In order to provide it, the framework of capacities in fully anisotropic Orlicz-Sobolev spaces is developed and the~capacitary characterization of a~bounded measure is given. Moreover, we give an example of an anisotropic Young function ΦΦ, such that ∣ξ∣p≲Φ(ξ)≲∣ξ∣plog⁡α(1+∣ξ∣)|ξ|^p \lesssimΦ(ξ)\lesssim |ξ|^p\log^α(1+|ξ|), with arbitrary p≥1p\geq 1, α>0α>0, but so irregularly growing that % we call it essentially fully anisotropic. In fact, the Orlicz--Sobolev--type space generated by ΦΦ indispensably requires fully anisotropic tools to be handled.

Concentration Properties of Restricted Measures with Applications to Non-Lipschitz Functions

We show that for any metric probability space (M,d,μ)(M,d,μ) with a subgaussian constant σ2(μ)σ^2(μ) and any set A⊂MA \subset M we have σ2(μA)≤clog⁡(e/μ(A)) σ2(μ)σ^2(μ_A) \leq c \log\left(e/μ(A)\right)\,σ^2(μ), where μAμ_A is a restriction of μμ to the set AA and cc is a universal constant. As a consequence we deduce concentration inequalities for non-Lipschitz functions.

On the Brunn-Minkowski inequality for general measures with applications to new isoperimetric-type inequalities

In this paper we present new versions of the classical Brunn-Minkowski inequality for different classes of measures and sets. We show that the inequality μ(λA+(1−λ)B)1/n≥λμ(A)1/n+(1−λ)μ(B)1/n μ(λA + (1-λ)B)^{1/n} \geq λμ(A)^{1/n} + (1-λ)μ(B)^{1/n} holds true for an unconditional product measure μμ with decreasing density and a pair of unconditional convex bodies A,B⊂RnA,B \subset \mathbb{R}^n. We also show that the above inequality is true for any unconditional log⁡\log-concave measure μμ and unconditional convex bodies A,B⊂RnA,B \subset \mathbb{R}^n. Finally, we prove that the inequality is true for a symmetric log⁡\log-concave measure μμ and a pair of symmetric convex sets A,B⊂R2A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^2, which, in particular, settles two-dimensional case of the conjecture for Gaussian measure proposed by R. Gardner and the fourth named author. In addition, we deduce the 1/n1/n-concavity of the parallel volume t↦μ(A+tB)t \mapsto μ(A+tB), Brunn's type theorem and certain analogues of Minkowski first inequality.

Two-sided bounds for LpL_p-norms of combinations of products of independent random variables

We show that for every positive p, the L_p-norm of linear combinations (with scalar or vector coefficients) of products of i.i.d. random variables, whose moduli have a nondegenerate distribution with the p-norm one, is comparable to the l_p-norm of the coefficients and the constants are explicit. As a result the same holds for linear combinations of Riesz products. We also establish the upper and lower bounds of the L_p-moments of partial sums of perpetuities.

FKN Theorem on the biased cube

In this note we consider Boolean functions defined on the discrete cube equipped with a biased product probability measure. We prove that if the spectrum of such a function is concentrated on the first two Fourier levels, then the function is close to a certain function of one variable. Moreover, in the symmetric case we prove that if a [-1,1]-valued function defined on the discrete cube is close to a certain affine function, then it is also close to a [-1,1]-valued affine function.
