Spectral gaps for twisted Dolbeault-Dirac operators over the irreducible quantum flag manifolds

We show that tensoring the Laplace and Dolbeault-Dirac operators of a Kähler structure (with closed integral) by a negative Hermitian holomorphic module, produces operators with spectral gaps around zero. The proof is based on the recently established Akizuki-Nakano identity of a noncommutative Kähler structure. This general framework is then applied to the Heckenberger-Kolb calculi of the irreducible quantum flag manifolds, and it is shown that twisting their Dirac and Laplace operators by negative line bundles produces a spectral gap, for q sufficiently close to 1. The main technical challenge in applying the framework is to establish positivity of the quantum Fubini-Study metric of the quantum flag manifold. Importantly, combining positivity with the noncommutative hard Lefschetz theorem, it is additionally observed that the even degree de Rham cohomology groups of the Heckenberger-Kolb calculi do not vanish.

Holomorphic Relative Hopf Modules over the Irreducible Quantum Flag Manifolds

We construct covariant $q$-deformed holomorphic structures for all finitely-generated relative Hopf modules over the irreducible quantum flag manifolds endowed with their Heckenberger--Kolb calculi. In the classical limit these reduce to modules of sections of holomorphic homogeneous vector bundles over irreducible flag manifolds. For the case of simple relative Hopf modules, we show that this covariant holomorphic structure is unique. This generalises earlier work of Majid, Khalkhali, Landi, and van Suijlekom for line modules of the Podleś sphere, and subsequent work of Khalkhali and Moatadelro for general quantum projective space.

A Dolbeault-Dirac Spectral Triple for Quantum Projective Space

The notion of a Kähler structure for a differential calculus was recently introduced by the second author as a framework in which to study the noncommutative geometry of the quantum flag manifolds. It was subsequently shown that any covariant positive definite Kähler structure has a canonically associated triple satisfying, up to the compact resolvent condition, Connes' axioms for a spectral triple. In this paper we begin the development of a robust framework in which to investigate the compact resolvent condition, and moreover, the general spectral behaviour of covariant Kähler structures. This framework is then applied to quantum projective space endowed with its Heckenberger-Kolb differential calculus. An even spectral triple with non-trivial associated K-homology class is produced, directly q-deforming the Dirac-Dolbeault operator of complex projective space. Finally, the extension of this approach to a certain canonical larger class of compact quantum Hermitian symmetric spaces is discussed in detail.

Killing spinor-valued forms and their integrability conditions

We study invariant systems of PDEs defining Killing vector-valued forms, and then we specialize to Killing spinor-valued forms. We give a detailed treatment of their prolongation and integrability conditions by relating the point-wise values of solutions to the curvature of the underlying manifold. As an example, we completely solve the equations on model spaces of constant curvature producing brand new solutions which do not come from the tensor product of Killing spinors and Killing-Yano forms.

Basic aspects of symplectic Clifford analysis for the symplectic Dirac operator

In the present article we study basic aspects of the symplectic version of Clifford analysis associated to the symplectic Dirac operator. Focusing mostly on the symplectic vector space of real dimension $2$, this involves the analysis of first order symmetry operators, symplectic Clifford-Fourier transform, reproducing kernel for the symplectic Fischer product and the construction of bases of symplectic monogenics for the symplectic Dirac operator.

Equivariant differential operators on spinors in conformal geometry

We present a novel approach to the classification of conformally equivariant differential operators on spinors in the case of homogeneous conformal geometry. It is based on the classification of solutions for a vector-valued system of partial differential equations, associated to $\mathcal{D}$-modules for the homogeneous conformal structure and controlled by the spin Howe duality for the orthogonal Lie algebras.

Projective structure, $\widetilde{\mathrm{SL}}(3,{\mathbb R})$ and the symplectic Dirac operator

Inspired by the results on symmetries of the symplectic Dirac operator, we realize symplectic spinor fields and the symplectic Dirac operator in the framework of (the double cover of) homogeneous projective structure in two real dimensions. The symmetry group of the homogeneous model of the double cover of projective geometry in two real dimensions is $\widetilde{\mathrm{SL}}(3,{\mathbb R})$.

Algebraic analysis on scalar generalized Verma modules of Heisenberg parabolic type I.: $A_n$-series

In the present article, we combine some techniques in the harmonic analysis together with the geometric approach given by modules over sheaves of rings of twisted differential operators ($\mathcal{D}$-modules), and reformulate the composition series and branching problems for objects in the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand parabolic category $\mathcal{O}^\mathfrak{p}$ geometrically realized on certain orbits in the generalized flag manifolds. The general framework is then applied to the scalar generalized Verma modules supported on the closed Schubert cell of the generalized flag manifold $G/P$ for $G={\rm SL}(n+2,\mathbb{C})$ and $P$ the Heisenberg parabolic subgroup, and the algebraic analysis gives a complete classification of $\mathfrak{g}'_r$-singular vectors for all $\mathfrak{g}'_r=\mathfrak{sl}(n-r+2,\mathbb{C})\,\subset\, \mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}(n+2,\mathbb{C})$, $n-r > 2$. A consequence of our results is that we classify ${\rm SL}(n-r+2,\mathbb{C})$-covariant differential operators acting on homogeneous line bundles over the complexification of the odd dimensional CR-sphere $S^{2n+1}$ and valued in homogeneous vector bundles over the complexification of the CR-subspheres $S^{2(n-r)+1}$.

Branching laws for Verma modules and applications in parabolic geometry. I

We initiate a new study of differential operators with symmetries and combine this with the study of branching laws for Verma modules of reductive Lie algebras. By the criterion for discretely decomposable and multiplicity-free restrictions of generalized Verma modules [T. Kobayashi, http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00031-012-9180-y {Transf. Groups (2012)}], we are brought to natural settings of parabolic geometries for which there exist unique equivariant differential operators to submanifolds. Then we apply a new method (F-method) relying on the Fourier transform to find singular vectors in generalized Verma modules, which significantly simplifies and generalizes many preceding works. In certain cases, it also determines the Jordan--Hölder series of the restriction for singular parameters. The F-method yields an explicit formula of such unique operators, for example, giving an intrinsic and new proof of Juhl's conformally invariant differential operators [Juhl, http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-7643-9900-9 {Progr. Math. 2009}] and its generalizations. This article is the first in the series, and the next ones include their extension to curved cases together with more applications of the F-method to various settings in parabolic geometries.

Discrete Dirac Operators, Critical Embeddings and Ihara-Selberg Functions

The aim of the paper is to formulate a discrete analogue of the claim made by Alvarez-Gaume et al., realizing the partition function of the free fermion on a closed Riemann surface of genus g as a linear combination of 2^{2g} Pfaffians of Dirac operators. Let G=(V,E) be a finite graph embedded in a closed Riemann surface X of genus g, x_e the collection of independent variables associated with each edge e of G (collected in one vector variable x) and S the set of all 2^{2g} Spin-structures on X. We introduce 2^{2g} rotations rot_s and (2|E| times 2|E|) matrices D(s)(x), s in S, of the transitions between the oriented edges of G determined by rotations rot_s. We show that the generating function for the even subsets of edges of G, i.e., the Ising partition function, is a linear combination of the square roots of 2^{2g} Ihara-Selberg functions I(D(s)(x)) also called Feynman functions. By a result of Foata--Zeilberger holds I(D(s)(x))= det(I-D'(s)(x)), where D'(s)(x) is obtained from D(s)(x) by replacing some entries by 0. Thus each Feynman function is computable in polynomial time. We suggest that in the case of critical embedding of a bipartite graph G, the Feynman functions provide suitable discrete analogues for the Pfaffians of discrete Dirac operators.

On the composition structure of the twisted Verma modules for $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$

We discuss some aspects of the composition structure of twisted Verma modules for the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(3, \mathbb{C})$, including the explicit structure of singular vectors for both $\mathfrak{sl}(3, \mathbb{C})$ and one of its Lie subalgebras $\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{C})$, and also of their generators. Our analysis is based on the use of partial Fourier tranform applied to the realization of twisted Verma modules as $\mathrm{D}$-modules on the Schubert cells in the full flag manifold for $\mathrm{SL}(3, \mathbb{C})$.

Symplectic twistor operator on ${\mathbb R}^{2n}$ and the Segal-Shale-Weil representation

The aim of our article is the study of solution space of the symplectic twistor operator $T_s$ in symplectic spin geometry on standard symplectic space $({\mathbb R}^{2n},ω)$, which is the symplectic analogue of the twistor operator in (pseudo)Riemannian spin geometry. In particular, we observe a substantial difference between the case $n=1$ of real dimension 2 and the case of ${\mathbb R}^{2n}$, $n>1$. For $n>1$, the solution space of $T_s$ is isomorphic to the Segal-Shale-Weil representation.

Residue Family Operators on Spinors and Spectral Theory of Dirac operator on Poincaré-Einstein Spaces

We study conformal $Spin$-subgeometry of submanifolds in a semi-Riemannian $Spin$-manifold, focusing on conformal $Spin$-manifolds $(M,[h])$ and their Poincaré-Einstein metrics $(X,g_+)$. Our approach is based on the spectral theory of Dirac operator in the ambient $Spin$-manifold, and associated spinor valued meromorphic family of distributions with residues given by the residue family operators $\slashed{D}_N^{res}(h;λ)$ on spinors. We develop basic aspects and properties of $\slashed{D}_N^{res}(h;λ)$ including conformal covariance, factorization properties by conformally covariant operators for both flat and curved semi-Riemannian $Spin$-manifolds, and Poisson transformation.

The F-method and a branching problem for generalized Verma modules associated to $({\LieGtwo},{so(7)})$

The branching problem for a couple of non-compatible Lie algebras and their parabolic subalgebras applied to generalized Verma modules was recently discussed in \cite{ms}. In the present article, we employ the recently developed F-method, \cite{KOSS1}, \cite{KOSS2} to the couple of non-compatible Lie algebras $({\LieGtwo},{so(7)})$, and generalized conformal ${so(7)}$-Verma modules of scalar type. As a result, we classify the $\LieGtwo \cap \gop'$-singular vectors for this class of $so(7)$-modules.

Poisson smooth structures on stratified symplectic spaces

In this paper we introduce the notion of a smooth structure on a stratified space, the notion of a Poisson smooth structure and the notion of a weakly symplectic smooth structure on a stratified symplectic space, refining the concept of a stratified symplectic Poisson algebra introduced by Sjamaar and Lerman. We show that these smooth spaces possess several important properties, e.g. the existence of smooth partitions of unity. Furthermore, under mild conditions many properties of a symplectic manifold can be extended to a symplectic stratified space provided with a smooth Poisson structure, e.g. the existence and uniqueness of a Hamiltonian flow, the isomorphism between the Brylinski-Poisson homology and the de Rham homology, the existence of a Leftschetz decomposition on a symplectic stratified space. We give many examples of stratified symplectic spaces possessing a Poisson smooth structure which is also weakly symplectic.

Smooth structures on pseudomanifolds with isolated conical singularities

In this note we introduce the notion of a smooth structure on a conical pseudomanifold $M$ in terms of $C^\infty$-rings of smooth functions on $M$. For a finitely generated smooth structure $C^\infty (M)$ we introduce the notion of the Nash tangent bundle, the Zariski tangent bundle, the tangent bundle of $M$, and the notion of characteristic classes of $M$. We prove the vanishing of a Nash vector field at a singular point for a special class of Euclidean smooth structures on $M$. We introduce the notion of a conical symplectic form on $M$ and show that it is smooth with respect to a Euclidean smooth structure on $M$. If a conical symplectic structure is also smooth with respect to a compatible Poisson smooth structure $C^\infty (M)$, we show that its Brylinski-Poisson homology groups coincide with the de Rham homology groups of $M$. We show nontrivial examples of these smooth conical symplectic-Poisson pseudomanifolds.

The Clifford Deformation of the Hermite Semigroup

This paper is a continuation of the paper [arXiv:0911.4725], investigating a natural radial deformation of the Fourier transform in the setting of Clifford analysis. At the same time, it gives extensions of many results obtained in [arXiv:0907.3749]. We establish the analogues of Bochner's formula and the Heisenberg uncertainty relation in the framework of the (holomorphic) Hermite semigroup, and also give a detailed analytic treatment of the series expansion of the associated integral transform.

Joseph-like ideals and harmonic analysis for osp(m|2n)

The Joseph ideal in the universal enveloping algebra U(so(m)) is the annihilator ideal of the so(m)-representation on the harmonic functions on R^{m-2}. The Joseph ideal for sp(2n) is the annihilator ideal of the Segal-Shale-Weil (metaplectic) representation. Both ideals can be constructed in a unified way from a quadratic relation in the tensor algebra of g for g equal to so(m) or sp(2n). In this paper we construct two analogous ideals in the tensor algebra of g and U(g) for g the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra osp(m|2n)=spo(2n|m) and prove that they have unique characterizations that naturally extend the classical case. Then we show that these two ideals are the annihilator ideals of respectively the osp(m|2n)-representation on the spherical harmonics on R^{m-2|2n} and a generalization of the metaplectic representation to spo(2n|m). This proves that these ideals are reasonable candidates to establish the theory of Joseph-like ideals for Lie superalgebras. We also discuss the relation between the Joseph ideal of osp(m|2n) and the algebra of symmetries of the super conformal Laplace operator, regarded as an intertwining operator between principal series representations for osp(m|2n).

The branching problem for generalized Verma modules, with application to the pair $(so(7),Lie G_2)$, extended version with tables

We discuss the branching problem for generalized Verma modules $M_λ(\mathfrak g, \mathfrak p)$ applied to couples of reductive Lie algebras $\bar{\mathfrak g}\hookrightarrow \mathfrak g$. The analysis is based on projecting character formulas to quantify the branching, and on the action of the center of $U(\bar{\mathfrak g})$ to explicitly construct singular vectors realizing part of the branching. We demonstrate the results on the pair $\mathrm{Lie}G_2\hookrightarrow{so(7)}$ for both strongly and weakly compatible with $i(\mathrm {Lie} G_2)$ parabolic subalgebras and a large class of inducing representations.

Invariant prolongation of overdetermined PDE's in projective, conformal and Grassmannian geometry

This is the second in a series of papers on natural modification of the normal tractor connection in a parabolic geometry, which naturally prolongs an underlying overdetermined system of invariant differential equations. We give a short review of the general procedure developed in [5] and then compute the prolongation covariant derivatives for a number of interesting examples in projective, conformal and Grassmannian geometries.

On a new normalization for tractor covariant derivatives

A regular normal parabolic geometry of type $G/P$ on a manifold $M$ gives rise to sequences $D_i$ of invariant differential operators, known as the curved version of the BGG resolution. These sequences are constructed from the normal covariant derivative $\na^\om$ on the corresponding tractor bundle $V,$ where $\om$ is the normal Cartan connection. The first operator $D_0$ in the sequence is overdetermined and it is well known that $\na^\om$ yields the prolongation of this operator in the homogeneous case $M = G/P$. Our first main result is the curved version of such a prolongation. This requires a new normalization $\tilde{\na}$ of the tractor covariant derivative on $V$. Moreover, we obtain an analogue for higher operators $D_i$. In that case one needs to modify the exterior covariant derivative $d^{\na^\om}$ by differential terms. Finally we demonstrate these results on simple examples in projective and Grassmannian geometry. Our approach is based on standard techniques of the BGG machinery.
