Nuclear structure properties of $^{184-194}$Pb isotopes and isomers

In the present work, we study nuclear structure properties of the $^{184-194}$Pb isotopes within the framework of the nuclear shell-model. We have performed shell-model calculations using KHH7B and KHHE interactions. We have reported results for energy spectra, electromagnetic properties such as quadrupole moment ($Q$), magnetic moment ($μ$), $B(E2)$, and $B(M1)$ transition strengths, and compared the shell-model results with the available experimental data. The shell-model results for the half-lives and seniority quantum numbers ($v$) are also reported for the isomeric states.

Emergence of an island of extreme nuclear isomerism at high excitation near $^{208}$Pb

Metastable states with T$_{1/2}$ = 8(2) ms in $^{205}$Bi and T$_{1/2}$ = 0.22(2) ms in $^{204}$Pb, with $\approx $ 8 MeV excitation energy and angular momentum $\ge $ 22 $\hbar $, have been established. These represent, by up to two orders of magnitude, the longest-lived nuclear states above an excitation energy of 7 MeV, ever identified in the nuclear chart. Additionally, the half-life of the 10.17 MeV state in $^{206}$Bi has been determined to be 0.027(2) ms, the next highest value in this highly excited regime. These observations indicate the emergence of an island of extreme nuclear isomerism arising from core-excited configurations at high excitation in the vicinity of the doubly closed-shell nucleus $^{208}$Pb. These results are expected to provide discriminating tests of the effective interactions used in current large-scale shell-model calculations.

Isomers in 203Tl and core excitations built on a five-nucleon-hole structure

Isomers with three- and five-nucleon-hole configurations have been established in $^{203}$Tl. These include newly identified levels with a three-nucleon structure: {\it I}$^{π}$ = (15/2$^{-}$) with {\it T}$_{1/2}$ = 7.9(5) ns, and {\it I}$^{π}$ = (35/2$^{-}$) with {\it T}$_{1/2}$ = 4.0(5) ns. In addition, five-quasiparticle states: {\it I}$^{π}$ = (39/2$^{-}$) with {\it T}$_{1/2}$ = 1.9(2) ns, and {\it I}$^{π}$ = (49/2$^{+}$) with {\it T}$_{1/2}$ = 3.4(4) ns have also been established. The previously determined long-lived decay [{\it T}$_{1/2}$ = 6.6(3) $μ$s from this work] is associated with isomerism of the {\it I}$^{π}$ = (29/2$^{+}$) state. Levels above this long-lived isomer have been identified through a delayed-prompt coincidence measurement. Five-nucleon-hole states with excitation energies {\it E}$_{x}$ $\approx $ 7 MeV have been established as well as possible octupole excitations of the $^{208}$Pb core built on these levels. The level scheme of $^{203}$Tl is extended up to {\it E}$_{x}$ $\approx $ 11 MeV with the inclusion of 25 new transitions. Empirical and shell-model calculations have been performed to aid in the description of the observed states which are found to be predominantly of intrinsic character.

Discovery of an Exceptionally Strong $β$-Decay Transition of $^{20}$F and Implications for the Fate of Intermediate-Mass Stars

A significant fraction of stars between 7-11 solar masses are thought to become supernovae, but the explosion mechanism is unclear. The answer depends critically on the rate of electron capture on $^{20}$Ne in the degenerate oxygen-neon stellar core. However, due to the unknown strength of the transition between the ground states of $^{20}$Ne and $^{20}$F, it has not previously been possible to fully constrain the rate. By measuring the transition, we have established that its strength is exceptionally large and enhances the capture rate by several orders of magnitude. This has a decisive impact on the evolution of the core, increasing the likelihood that the star is (partially) disrupted by a thermonuclear explosion rather than collapsing to form a neutron star. Importantly, our measurement resolves the last remaining nuclear physics uncertainty in the final evolution of degenerate oxygen-neon stellar cores, allowing future studies to address the critical role of convection, which at present is poorly understood.

Measurement of the $2^+\rightarrow 0^+$ ground-state transition in the $β$ decay of $^{20}$F

We report the first detection of the second-forbidden, non-unique, $2^+\rightarrow 0^+$, ground-state transition in the $β$ decay of $^{20}$F. A low-energy, mass-separated $^{20}\rm{F}^+$ beam produced at the IGISOL facility in Jyväskylä, Finland, was implanted in a thin carbon foil and the $β$ spectrum measured using a magnetic transporter and a plastic-scintillator detector. The $β$-decay branching ratio inferred from the measurement is $b_β = [ 0.41\pm 0.08\textrm{(stat)}\pm 0.07\textrm{(sys)}] \times 10^{-5}$ corresponding to $\log ft = 10.89(11)$, making this one of the strongest second-forbidden, non-unique $β$ transitions ever measured. The experimental result is supported by shell-model calculations and has significant implications for the final evolution of stars that develop degenerate oxygen-neon cores. Using the new experimental data, we argue that the astrophysical electron-capture rate on $^{20}$Ne is now known to within better than 25% at the relevant temperatures and densities.

High-spin structure of $^{87}$Sr and $^{87}$Zr nuclei : shell model interpretation

In the present work we report a comprehensive analysis of shell model results for high-spin states of $^{87}$Sr and $^{87}$Zr for recently available experimental data within the full $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ model space using JUN45 and jj44b effective interactions developed for this model space. In this work we have compared the energy levels, electromagnetic transition probabilities, quadrupole and magnetic moments with available experimental data. We have confirmed structure of high-spin states of these two nuclei which were tentatively assigned in the recent experimental work. In the case of $^{87}$Sr, for positive parity states up to $\sim$ 7.5 MeV, both interactions predict very good agreement with experimental data, while negative parity states are slightly suppressed in jj44b calculation. For the $^{87}$Zr nucleus, the jj44b interaction predicts higher energies for the negative parity states beyond $J \geq 27/2^{-}$. The configuration, which have one hole in $νg_{9/2}$ orbital, is responsible for generating the states in $^{87}$Sr. In the case of $^{87}$Zr, low-lying positive parity states come with the configuration having three holes in the $νg_{9/2}$, while the odd-parity states have configuration $ν(f_{5/2}^{-1}g_{9/2}^{-2})$.

Inelastic WIMP-nucleus scattering to the first excited state in $^{125}$Te

The direct detection of dark matter constituents, in particular the weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), is considered central to particle physics and cosmology. In this paper we study transitions to the excited states, possible in some nuclei, which have sufficiently low lying excited states. Examples considered previously were the first excited states of $^{127}$I and $^{129}$Xe and $^{83}$Kr. Here we examine $^{125}$Te, which offers some advantages and is currently being considered as a target. In all these cases the extra signature of the gamma rays following the de-excitation of these states has definite advantages over the purely nuclear recoil and, in principle, such a signature can be exploited experimentally. A brief discussion of the experimental feasibility is given in the context of the CUORE experiment.

Nuclear $β^-$-decay half-lives for $fp$ and $fpg$ shell nuclei

In the present work we calculate the allowed $β^-$-decay half-lives of nuclei with $Z = 20 -30$ and N $\leq$ 50 systematically under the framework of the nuclear shell model. A recent study shows that some nuclei in this region belong to the island of inversion. We perform calculation for $fp$ shell nuclei using KB3G effective interaction. In the case of Ni, Cu, and Zn, we used JUN45 effective interaction. Theoretical results of $Q$ values, half-lives, excitation energies, log$ft$ values, and branching fractions are discussed and compared with the experimental data. In the Ni region, we also compared our calculated results with recent experimental data [Z. Y. Xu {\it et al.}, \emph{Phys. Rev. Lett.} \textbf{113}, 032505, 2014]. Present results agree with the experimental data of half-lives in comparison to QRPA.

Shell model description of Gamow-Teller strengths in $pf$-shell nuclei

A systematic shell model description of the experimental Gamow-Teller transition strength distributions in $^{42}$Ti, $^{46}$Cr, $^{50}$Fe and $^{54}$Ni is presented. These transitions have been recently measured via $β$ decay of these $T_z$=-1 nuclei, produced in fragmentation reactions at GSI and also with ($^3${He},$t$) charge-exchange (CE) reactions corresponding to $T_z = + 1$ to $T_z = 0$ carried out at RCNP-Osaka.The calculations are performed in the $pf$ model space, using the GXPF1a and KB3G effective interactions. Qualitative agreement is obtained for the individual transitions, while the calculated summed transition strengths closely reproduce the observed ones.

6$^+$ isomers in neutron-rich Sn-isotopes beyond N$=82$ and effective interaction

Recent observation of the 6$^+$ seniority isomers and measurements of the B${(E2)}$ values in the $^{134-138}$Sn isotopes lying close to the neutron drip line have raised some questions about the validity of the currently used effective interactions in the neutron-rich region. Simpson $\it{et}$ $\it{al.}$ [Phys. Rev. Lett. $\textbf{113}$, 132502 (2014)] had to modify the diagonal and non-diagonal $νf_{7/2}^2$ two body matrix elements of the "${Vlk}$" interaction by ${\sim150}$ keV in their shell model calculations in order to explain the data of $^{136}$Sn. In contrast, we are able to explain the observed energy levels and the B${(E2)}$ values after marginal reduction of the same set of matrix elements by ${25}$ keV in the "RCDB" (Renormalized CD-Bonn) interaction. The observed mismatch in reproducing the data of $^{136}$Sn is due to the seniority mixing. Further, we do not find it necessary to consider the core excitations, and the "RCDB" interaction seems better suited to explain the data beyond N$=82$ magic number.

Analysis of proton and neutron pair breakings: High-spin structures of $^{124-127}$Te isotopes

In the present work recently available experimental data for high-spin states of four nuclei, $^{124}_{\ 52}$Te, $^{125}_{\ 52}$Te, $^{126}_{\ 52}$Te, and $^{127}_{\ 52}$Te have been interpreted using state-of-the-art shell model calculations. The calculations have been performed in the $50-82$ valence shell composed of $1g_{7/2}$, $2d_{5/2}$, $1h_{11/2}$, $3s_{1/2}$, and $2d_{3/2}$ orbitals. We have compared our results with the available experimental data for excitation energies and transition probabilities, including high-spin states. The results are in reasonable agreement with the available experimental data. The wave functions, particularly, the specific proton and neutron configurations which are involved to generate the angular momentum along the yrast lines are discussed. We have also estimated overall contribution of three-body forces in the energy level shifting. Finally, results with modified effective interaction are also reported.

High-spin structures of $^{77,79,81,83}$As isotopes

In the present work we report comprehensive set of shell model calculations for arsenic isotopes. We performed shell model calculations with two recent effective interactions JUN45 and jj44b. The overall results for the energy levels and magnetic moments are in rather good agreement with the available experimental data. We have also reported competition of proton- and neutron-pair breakings analysis to identify which nucleon pairs are broken to obtain the total angular momentum of the calculated states. Further theoretical development is needed by enlarging model space by including $π0f_{7/2}$ and $ν1d_{5/2}$ orbitals.

Shell model and deformed shell model spectroscopy of $^{62}$Ga

In the present work we have reported comprehensive analysis of recently available experimental data [H.M. David et al., Phys. Lett. B {\bf 726}, 665 (2013)] for high-spin states up to $17^+$ with $T=0$ in the odd-odd $N=Z$ nucleus $^{62}$Ga using shell model calculations within the full $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ model space and deformed shell model based on Hartee-Fock intrinsic states in the same space. The calculations have been performed using jj44b effective interaction developed recently by B.A. Brown and A.F. Lisetskiy for this model space. The results obtained with the two models are similar and they are in reasonable agreement with experimental data. In addition to the $T=0$ and $T=1$ energy bands, band crossings and electromagnetic transition probabilities, we have also calculated the pairing energy in shell model and all these compare well with the available theoretical results.

Theoretical direct WIMP detection rates for transitions to nuclear excited states

The recent WMAP and Planck data have confirmed that exotic dark matter together with the vacuum energy (cosmological constant) dominate in the flat Universe. Many extensions of the standard model provide dark matter candidates, in particular Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs). Thus the direct dark matter detection is central to particle physics and cosmology. Most of the research on this issue has hitherto focused on the detection of the recoiling nucleus. In this paper we study transitions to the excited states, possible in some nuclei, which have sufficiently low lying excited states. Examples considered previously were the first excited states of $^{127}$I and $^{129}$Xe. We examine here $^{83}$Kr, which offers some kinematical advantages and is currently considered as a possible target. We find appreciable branching ratios for the inelastic scattering mediated by the spin cross sections, with an inelastic event rate of $4.4\times 10^{-4}$kg$^{-1}$d$^{-1}$. So, the extra signature of the gamma ray following the de-excitation of these states can, in principle, be exploited experimentally. A brief discussion of the experimental feasibility is given

High-spin structures of $^{86,87,88,89}$Y: a shell model interpretation

In this work nuclear structure properties of $^{86,87,88,89}$Y isotopes have been investigated using large-scale shell-model calculations within the full $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ model space. The calculations have been performed with JUN45 and jj44b effective interactions that have been proposed for use in the $f_{5/2}$, $p_{3/2}$, $p_{1/2}$, $g_{9/2}$ model space for both protons and neutrons. Reasonable agreement between experimental and calculated values are obtained. This work will add more information to previous study by projected shell model [Eur. Phys. J. Comparison of shell model results for even-even Se isotopes

Comprehensive set of shell model calculations for $^{78-84}$Se isotopes have been performed with recently derived interactions, namely JUN45 and jj44b for ${f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}}$ space. To study the importance of the proton excitations across Z=28 shell in this region mentioned by Cheal {\it et al.} [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf104}, 252502 (2010)], calculation for ${fpg_{9/2}}$ valence space using an ${fpg}$ effective interaction with $^{48}$Ca as core and imposing a truncation has also been performed. Comparison of the calculations with experimental data show that the predicted results of jj44b interaction are in good agreement with experimental data.

High-spin structures of $^{136}_{54}$Xe, $^{137}_{55}$Cs, $^{138}_{56}$Ba, $^{139}_{57}$La, and $^{140}_{58}$Ce : A shell model description

In the present work recently available experimental data [A. Astier et al, Phys. Rev. C 85, 064316 (2012)] for high-spin states of five N=82 isotones, $^{136}_{54}$Xe, $^{137}_{55}$Cs, $^{138}_{56}$Ba, $^{139}_{57}$La, and $^{140}_{58}$Ce have been interpreted with state-of-the-art shell model calculations. The calculations have been performed in the 50-82 valence shell composed of $1g_{7/2}$, $2d_{5/2}$, $1h_{11/2}$, $3s_{1/2}$, and $2d_{3/2}$ orbitals. We have compared our results with the available experimental data for excitation energies including high-spin states, occupancy numbers and transition probabilities. As expected the structure of these isotones are due to proton excitations across Z=50 shell. The structure of the positive-parity states are mainly from $(πg_{7/2}πd_{5/2})^n$ and $(πg_{7/2}πd_{5/2})^{n-2}(πh_{11/2})^2$ configurations, while the negative-parity states have $(πg_{7/2}πd_{5/2})^{n}(πh_{11/2})^1$ configuration. Additionally, for the $^{136}_{54}$Xe, $^{137}_{55}$Cs and $^{138}_{56}$Ba isotones the excitation of the neutrons across N=82 gap is important.

High-spin structures of 136Cs

Odd-odd 136Cs nuclei have been produced in the 18O + 208Pb and 12C + 238U fusion-fission reactions and their gamma rays studied with the Euroball array. The high-spin level scheme has been built up to ~ 4.7 MeV excitation energy and spin I ~ 16 hbar from the triple gamma-ray coincidence data. The configurations of the three structures observed above ~ 2 MeV excitation energy are first discussed by analogy with the proton excitations identified in the semi-magic 137Cs nucleus, which involve the three high-j orbits lying above the Z=50 gap, pi g_{7/2}, pi d_{5/2} and pi h_{11/2}. This is confirmed by the results of shell-model calculations performed in this work.

Impact of sintering temperature on room temperature magneto-resistive and magneto-caloric properties of Pr2/3Sr1/3MnO3

Magneto-resistive and magneto-caloric properties of polycrystalline Pr2/3Sr1/3MnO3 have been studied as a function of sintering temperature (Ts) between 1260-1450°C. Reitveld refinement of their X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirms their single phase crystalline structure with orthorhombic Pbnm space group. The point of maximum value of temperature coefficient of resistance (TCRmax) and Curie temperature (Tc) decreased slightly with Ts. Magneto-resistance (MR) and magnetic entropy (ΔSM) increased markedly with sintering temperature. This could be attributed to the observed sharpness of both the magnetic and resistive transitions due to better grain connectivity. Optimum results are obtained for the sample with Ts = 1400°C. MR at Tc of the same is found to be as large as 32% at 1T and 58% at 5T magnetic fields. The maximum entropy change (ΔSMmax) near its Tc is 2.3Jkg-1K-1 and 7.8 Jkg-1K-1 upon 1T and 5T fields change respectively. These characteristics [MR (32% 1T, 58% 5T) and reasonable change in magnetic entropy (7.8Jkg-1K-1, 5T)] generate possibility that the optimized compound can be used as a potential magnetic refrigerant close to room temperature.

Shell Model Description of $^{102-108}$Sn Isotopes

We have performed shell model calculations for neutron deficient even $^{102-108}$Sn and odd $^{103-107}$Sn isotopes in $sdg_{7/2}h_{11/2}$ model space using two different interactions. The first set of interaction is due to Brown {\it et al.} and second is due to Hoska {\it et al}. The calculations have been performed using doubly magic $^{100}$Sn as core and valence neutrons are distributed over the single particle orbits 1$g_{7/2}$, 2$d_{5/2}$, 2$d_{3/2}$, 3$s_{1/2}$ and 1$h_{11/2}$. In more recent experimental work for $^{101}$Sn [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 105} (2010) 162502], the g.s. is predicted as 5/2$^+$ with excited 7/2$^+$ at 172 keV. We have also performed another two set of calculations by taking difference in single particle energies of 2$d_{5/2}$ and 1$g_{7/2}$ orbitals by 172 keV. The present state-of-the-art shell model calculations predicts fair agreements with the experimental data. These calculations serve as a test of nuclear shell model in the region far from stability for unstable Sn isotopes near the doubly magic $^{100}$Sn core.

Shell model description of Ge isotopes

A shell model study of the low energy region of the spectra in Ge isotopes for $38\leq N\leq 50$ is presented, analyzing the excitation energies, quadrupole moments, $B(E2)$ values and occupation numbers. The theoretical results have been compared with the available experimental data. The shell model calculations have been performed employing three different effective interactions and valence spaces. We have used two effective shell model interactions, JUN45 and jj44b, for the valence space $f_{5/2} \, p \,g_{9/2}$ without truncation. To include the proton subshell $f_{7/2}$ in valence space we have employed the $fpg$ effective interaction due to Sorlin {\it et al.}, with $^{48}$Ca as a core and a truncation in the number of excited particles.

Identification of the slow E3 transition 136mCs -> 136Cs with conversion electrons

We performed at ISOLDE the spectroscopy of the decay of the 8- isomer in 136Cs by and conversion-electron detection. For the first time the excitation energy of the isomer and the multipolarity of its decay have been measured. The half-life of the isomeric state was remeasured to T1/2 = 17.5(2) s. This isomer decays via a very slow 518 keV E3 transition to the ground state. In addition to this, a much weaker decay branch via a 413 keV M4 and a subsequent 105 keV E2 transition has been found. Thus we have found a new level at 105 keV with spin 4+ between the isomeric and the ground state. The results are discussed in comparison to shell model calculations.

Nuclear structure study around Z=28

Yrast levels of Ni, Cu and Zn isotopes for $40 \leq N \leq50$ have been described by state-of-the-art shell model calculations with three recently available interactions using $^{56}$Ni as a core in the $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ model space. The results are unsatisfactory viz. large $E(2^+)$ for very neutron rich nuclei, small B(E2) values in comparison to experimental values. These results indicate an importance of inclusion of $πf_{7/2}$ and $νd_{5/2}$ orbitals in the model space to reproduce collectivity in this region.

One plus two-body random matrix ensembles with parity: Density of states and parity ratios

One plus two-body embedded Gaussian orthogonal ensemble of random matrices with parity [EGOE(1+2)-$π$] generated by a random two-body interaction (modeled by GOE in two particle spaces) in the presence of a mean-field, for spinless identical fermion systems, is defined, generalizing the two-body ensemble with parity analyzed by Papenbrock and Weidenmüller [Phys. Rev. C {\bf 78}, 054305 (2008)], in terms of two mixing parameters and a gap between the positive $(π=+)$ and negative $(π=-)$ parity single particle (sp) states. Numerical calculations are used to demonstrate, using realistic values of the mixing parameters appropriate for some nuclei, that the EGOE(1+2)-$π$ ensemble generates Gaussian form (with corrections) for fixed parity eigenvalue densities (i.e. state densities). The random matrix model also generates many features in parity ratios of state densities that are similar to those predicted by a method based on the Fermi-gas model for nuclei. We have also obtained, by applying the formulation due to Chang et al [Ann. Phys. (N.Y.) {\bf 66}, 137 (1971)], a simple formula for the spectral variances defined over fixed-$(m_1,m_2)$ spaces, where $m_1$ is the number of fermions in the +ve parity sp states and $m_2$ is the number of fermions in the -ve parity sp states. Similarly, using the binary correlation approximation, in the dilute limit, we have derived expressions for the lowest two shape parameters. The smoothed densities generated by the sum of fixed-$(m_1,m_2)$ Gaussians with lowest two shape corrections describe the numerical results in many situations. The model also generates preponderance of +ve parity ground states for small values of the mixing parameters and this is a feature seen in nuclear shell model results.

Shell-model results in $fp$ and ${fpg_{9/2}}$ spaces for $^{61,63,65}$Co isotopes

Low-lying spectra and several high-spin states of odd--even $^{61,63,65}$Co isotopes are calculated in two different shell-model spaces. First set of calculations have been carried out in ${fp}$ shell valence space (full $fp$ space for $^{63,65}$Co and a truncated one for $^{61}$Co) using two recently derived ${fp}$ shell interactions, namely GXPF1A and KB3G, with $^{40}$Ca as core. Similarly, the second set of calculations have been performed in ${fpg_{9/2}}$ valence space using an ${fpg}$ effective interaction due to Sorlin {\it et al}., with $^{48}$Ca as core and imposing a truncation. It is seen that the results of GXPF1A and KB3G are reasonable for $^{61,63}$Co. For $^{65}$Co, shell-model results show that the ${fpg}$ interaction adopted in the study is inadequate and also point out that it is necessary to include orbitals higher than $1g_{9/2}$ for neutron-rich Co isotopes.

Structure of $^{71-78}$Ga isotopes in $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ and $fpg_{9/2}$ spaces

We have performed comprehensive set of shell model calculations for Ga isotopes including high-spin states with three different effective interactions. This work will add more information in the earlier work by Cheal {\it et al.} for odd-even Ga isotopes [ Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 252502 (2010)] and Mané {\it et al.} for odd-odd Ga isotopes [ Phys. Rev. C 84, 024303 (2011)], where only few excited states are studied in $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ space. For lighter isotopes $fpg$ interaction is better and for heavier isotopes jj44b is quantitatively better than JUN45. These results show that limitation of existing interactions and calling for further improvements to predict nuclear structure properties of Ga isotopes.

Large scale shell model calculations for odd-odd $^{58-62}$Mn isotopes

Large scale shell model calculations have been carried out for odd-odd $^{58-62}$Mn isotopes in two different model spaces. First set of calculations have been carried out in full $\it{fp}$ shell valence space with two recently derived $\it{fp}$ shell interactions namely GXPF1A and KB3G treating $^{40}$Ca as core. The second set of calculations have been performed in ${fpg_{9/2}}$ valence space with the $fpg$ interaction treating $^{48}$Ca as core and imposing a truncation by allowing up to a total of six particle excitations from the 0f$_{7/2}$ orbital to the upper $\it{fp}$ orbitals for protons and from the upper $\it{fp}$ orbitals to the 0g$_{9/2}$ orbital for neutron. For low-lying states in $^{58}$Mn, the KB3G and GXPF1A both predicts good results and for $^{60}$Mn, KB3G is much better than GXPF1A. For negative parity and high-spin positive parity states in both isotopes $fpg$ interaction is required. Experimental data on $^{62}$Mn is sparse and therefore it is not possible to make any definite conclusions. More experimental data on negative parity states is needed to ascertain the importance of 0g$_{9/2}$ and higher orbitals in neutron rich Mn isotopes.

Monopole Shift in Odd Neutron-Rich F Isotopes: A Shell Model Description

Monopole shift in the proton states in odd neutron rich F isotopes has been studied with neutron number changing from N = 10 to 20 for three different interactions. The variation of monopole shift point out towards appearance of shell closure at N = 14 and N = 16 and its disappearance at N = 20. Low lying states of odd F isotopes have also been calculated in the limited configuration space of {\it sd} shells for these interactions.
