Nucleon and ΔΔ resonances in γn→K+Σ−γn \to K^+Σ^- photoproduction

The most recent data on beam asymmetries, ΣΣ, and beam-target asymmetries, EE, from the CLAS Collaboration, together with the previous data on differential cross sections and beam asymmetries from the CLAS and LEPS Collaborations, for the γn→K+Σ−γn \to K^+Σ^- reaction are studied based on an effective Lagrangian approach in the tree-level Born approximation. The tt-channel KK and K∗(892)K^\ast(892) exchanges, the uu-channel ΣΣ exchange, the interaction current, and the exchanges of NN, ΔΔ, and their excited states in the ss channel are considered in constructing the reaction amplitudes to describe the available experimental data. The reaction mechanisms of γn→K+Σ−γn \to K^+Σ^- are analyzed, and the associated resonances' parameters are extracted. The numerical results show that the ΔΔ exchange and the N(1710)1/2+N(1710)1/2^+, N(1880)1/2+N(1880)1/2^+, N(1900)3/2+N(1900)3/2^+, and Δ(1920)3/2+Δ(1920)3/2^+ resonance exchanges in the ss-channel dominate the γn→K+Σ−γn \to K^+Σ^- reaction in the lower energy region, and the tt-channel K∗(892)K^\ast(892) exchange plays a crucial role at forward angles in the higher energy region.

Photoproduction γp→K+Λ(1690)γp \to K^+Λ(1690) in an effective Lagrangian approach

A gauge-invariant model is constructed for the γp→K+Λ(1690)γp \to K^+Λ(1690) reaction within a tree-level effective Lagrangian approach with the purpose to understand the underlying production mechanisms and to study the resonance contributions in this reaction. In addition to the tt-channel KK and K∗K^\ast exchanges, the ss-channel nucleon exchange, and the interaction current, the ss-channel nucleon resonance exchanges are also included in constructing the reaction amplitudes to describe the data. It is found that the contributions from the ss-channel N(2570)5/2−N(2570)5/2^- exchange are required to describe the most recently measured total cross-section data for γp→K+Λ(1690)γp \to K^+Λ(1690) from the CLAS Collaboration. Further analysis shows that the interaction current dominates the γp→K+Λ(1690)γp \to K^+Λ(1690) reaction near the threshold as a result of gauge invariance. The tt-channel KK exchange contributes significantly, while the contributions from the tt-channel K∗K^\ast exchange as well as the ss-channel nucleon exchange turn out to be negligible. The contributions from the ss-channel N(2570)5/2−N(2570)5/2^- exchange are found to be responsible for the bump structure shown in the CLAS total cross-section data above the center-of-mass energy W≈2.7W \approx 2.7 GeV. The predictions of the differential cross sections for γp→K+Λ(1690)γp \to K^+Λ(1690) are shown and discussed, which can provide theoretical guidances for the future experiments.

Roles of a0(980)a_0(980), Λ(1670)Λ(1670), and Σ(1385)Σ(1385) in the Λc+→ηΛπ+Λ_c^+ \to ηΛπ^+ decay

Recently, the Belle Collaboration has measured the Λc+→ηΛπ+Λ_c^+ \to ηΛπ^+ decay and reported the ηΛηΛ and Λπ+Λπ^+ invariant mass distributions, which show the clear signals of the resonances Λ(1670)Λ(1670) and Σ(1385)Σ(1385), respectively. Based on our previous works [Eur. Phys. J. C 76 (2016) 496 and Phys. Rev. D 95 (2017) 074024], we re-analyze this process by considering the SS-wave ηΛηΛ and ηπ+ηπ^+ final state interactions within the chiral unitary approach, which dynamically generate the Λ(1670)Λ(1670) and a0(980)a_0(980), respectively. Our results are in good agreement with the Belle measurements, which supports the molecular nature of the Λ(1670)Λ(1670) and a0(980)a_0(980). In addition, the ηπ+ηπ^+ invariant mass distributions are also computed and a cusp structure of a0(980)a_0(980) is cleary shown around the KKˉK\bar{K} mass threshold.

Photoproduction γp→K+Λ(1520)γp \to K^+Λ(1520) in an effective Lagrangian approach

The data on differential cross sections and photon-beam asymmetries for the γp→K+Λ(1520)γp \to K^+Λ(1520) reaction have been analyzed within a tree-level effective Lagrangian approach. In addition to the tt-channel KK and K∗K^\ast exchanges, the uu-channel ΛΛ exchange, the ss-channel nucleon exchange, and the interaction current, a minimal number of nucleon resonances in the ss channel are introduced in constructing the reaction amplitudes to describe the data. The results show that the experimental data can be well reproduced by including either the N(2060)5/2−N(2060)5/2^- or the N(2120)3/2−N(2120)3/2^- resonance. In both cases, the contact term and the KK exchange are found to make significant contributions, while the contributions from the K∗K^\ast and ΛΛ exchanges are negligible in the former case and considerable in the latter case. Measurements of the data on target asymmetries are called on to further pin down the resonance contents and to clarify the roles of the K∗K^\ast and ΛΛ exchanges in this reaction.

Photoproduction reaction γn→K∗0Λγn \to K^{\ast 0}Λ in an effective Lagrangian approach

In our previous work [Phys. Rev. C 101, 014003 (2020)], the photoproduction reaction γp→K∗+Λγp \to K^{\ast +} Λ has been investigated within an effective Lagrangian approach. There, the reaction amplitudes were constructed by including the tt-channel KK, K∗K^\ast, and κκ exchanges, the uu-channel ΛΛ, ΣΣ, and Σ∗Σ^\ast exchanges, the ss-channel NN, N(2000)5/2+N(2000)5/2^+, and N(2060)5/2−N(2060)5/2^- exchanges, and the interaction current. It has been shown that the data on both the differential cross sections and the spin density matrix elements were simultaneously and satisfactorily described. In this paper, we study the photoproduction reaction γn→K∗0Λγn \to K^{\ast 0} Λ based on the same reaction mechanism as that of γp→K∗+Λγp \to K^{\ast +} Λ with the purpose of getting a unified description of the data for both γp→K∗+Λγp \to K^{\ast +} Λ and γn→K∗0Λγn \to K^{\ast 0} Λ within a same model. All hadronic coupling constants, form factor cutoffs, and the resonance masses and widths in the present calculations remain the same as in our previous work for γp→K∗+Λγp \to K^{\ast +} Λ. The available differential cross-section data for γn→K∗0Λγn \to K^{\ast 0} Λ are well reproduced. Further analysis shows that the cross sections of γn→K∗0Λγn \to K^{\ast 0} Λ are dominated by the contributions of the tt-channel KK exchange, while the ss-channel N(2000)5/2+N(2000)5/2^+ and N(2060)5/2−N(2060)5/2^- exchanges provide considerable contributions as well.

Analysis of the data on spin density matrix elements for γp→K∗+Λγp \to K^{*+}Λ

In our previous work [Phys. Rev. C {\bf 96}, 035206 (2017)], the high-precision differential cross-section data for γp→K∗+Λγp \to K^{*+}Λ reported by the CLAS Collaboration has been analyzed within an effective Lagrangian approach. It was found that apart from the tt-channel KK, K∗K^*, and κκ exchanges, the uu-channel ΛΛ, ΣΣ, and Σ∗Σ^* exchanges, the ss-channel NN exchange, and the interaction current, one needs to introduce at least two nucleon resonances in the ss channel in constructing the reaction amplitudes to describe the cross-section data. One of the needed resonances is N(2060)5/2−N(2060)5/2^-, and the other one could be one of the N(2000)5/2+N(2000)5/2^+, N(2040)3/2+N(2040)3/2^+, N(2100)1/2+N(2100)1/2^+, N(2120)3/2−N(2120)3/2^-, and N(2190)7/2−N(2190)7/2^- resonances. In this paper, we further include in our analysis the data on spin density matrix elements for K∗K^* meson reported recently by the CLAS Collaboration, with the purpose being to impose further constraints on extracting the resonance contents and to gain a better understanding of the reaction mechanism. It turns out that with the new data on spin density matrix elements taken into account, only the set with the N(2060)5/2−N(2060)5/2^- and N(2000)5/2+N(2000)5/2^+ resonances among those five possible solutions extracted from the analysis of the differential cross-section data can satisfactorily describe the data on both the differential cross sections and the spin density matrix elements. Further analysis shows that this reaction is dominated by the tt-channel KK exchange and ss-channel N(2060)5/2−N(2060)5/2^- and N(2000)5/2+N(2000)5/2^+ exchanges.
