On the molecular nature of the $Ω_c(3120)$ and its analogy with the $Ω(2012)$

We make a study of the $Ω_c(3120)$, one of the five $Ω_c$ states observed by the LHCb collaboration, which is well reproduced as a molecular state from the $Ξ^*_c \bar K$ and $Ω^*_c η$ channels mostly. The state with $J^P = 3/2^-$ decays to $Ξ_c \bar K$ in $D$-wave and we include this decay channel in our approach, as well as the effect of the $Ξ^*_c$ width. With all these ingredients, we determine the fraction of the $Ω_c(3120)$ width that goes into $Ξ_c π\bar K$, which could be a measure of the $Ξ^*_c \bar K$ molecular component, but due to a relatively big binding, compared to its analogous $Ω(2012)$ state, we find only a small fraction of about 3%, which makes this measurement difficult with present statistics. As an alternative, we evaluate the scattering length and effective range of the $Ξ^*_c \bar K$ and $Ω^*_c η$ channels which together with the binding and width of the $Ω_c(3120)$ state, could give us an answer to the issue of the compositeness of this state when these magnitudes are determined experimentally, something feasible nowadays, for instance, measuring correlation functions.

Pion-nucleon sigma term $σ_{πN}$ and deeply bound pionic atoms

We investigate the possibility to determine the value of the pion-nucleon sigma term $σ_{πN}$ precisely by the experimental observables of the deeply bound pionic atoms. We discuss the sensitivity of the observables to $σ_{πN}$ and take into account the typical errors of the up-to-date experiments of the deeply bound pionic atoms. We find that the gap of the binding energies and the width of the deeply bound pionic states are good observables for the $σ_{πN}$ value determination by the experimental data. We also discuss the expected difficulties for the accurate determination of the value of $σ_{πN}$ due to the correlation between the $σ$ term and the potential parameter in the pion-nucleus optical potential.

$Z_{cs}$ states from the $D^{*}_s \bar D^*$ and $J/ψK^*$ coupled channels: Signal in $B^+ \to J/ψϕK^+$ decay

We study the $D^{*}_s \bar D^*$ system in connection with the $J/ψK^*$ in coupled channels and observe that, within reasonable values of the cut-off used to regularize the loops, the system does not develop a bound state. However, the $J^P = 2^+$ channel has enough attraction to create a strong cusp structure that shows up in the $J/ψK^+$ invariant mass distribution in the $B^+ \to J/ψϕK^+$ decay at the $D^*_s \bar D^*$ threshold. Such structure is visible in the experimental $B^+ \to J/ψϕK^+$ and $\bar B^0 \to J/ψK^+ K^-$ decays, with small statistics, and our results should stimulate further measurements around this region, given the fact that cusp effects provide as valuable information on hadron dynamics as resonances themselves.

Interpretation of the $Ω_c \to π^+ Ω(2012) \to π^+(\bar{K} Ξ)$ relative to $Ω_c \to π^+\bar{K} Ξ$ from the $Ω(2012)$ molecular perspective

We present a mechanism for $Ω_c \to π^+ Ω(2012)$ production through an external emission Cabibbo favored weak decay mode, where the $Ω(2012)$ is dynamically generated from the interaction of $\bar{K}Ξ^*(1530)$, $ηΩ$, with $\bar{K}Ξ$ as the main decay channel. The $Ω(2012)$ decays later to $\bar{K}Ξ$ in this picture, with results compatible with Belle data. The picture has as a consequence that one can evaluate the direct decay $Ω_c^0 \to π^+K^- Ξ^0$ and the decay $Ω_c^0 \to π^+\bar{K} Ξ^*$, $π^+ηΩ$ with direct coupling of $\bar{K}Ξ^*$ and $ηΩ$ to $K^- Ξ^0$. We show that, within uncertainties and using data from a recent Belle measurement, all these three channels account for about (12-20)\% of the total $Ω_c \to π^+K^- Ξ^0$ decay rate. The consistency of the molecular picture with all the data is established by showing that $Ω_c \to Ξ^0 \bar{K}^{*0} \to Ξ^0K^- π^+$ together with $Ω_c \to π^+ Ω^* \to π^+K^- Ξ^0 $ account for about 85\% of the total $Ω_c \to π^+K^- Ξ^0 $.

Transport Model Comparison Studies of Intermediate-Energy Heavy-Ion Collisions

Transport models are the main method to obtain physics information from low to relativistic-energy heavy-ion collisions. The Transport Model Evaluation Project (TMEP) has been pursued to test the robustness of transport model predictions in reaching consistent conclusions from the same type of physical model. Calculations under controlled conditions of physical input and set-up were performed with various participating codes. These included both calculations of nuclear matter in a box with periodic boundary conditions, and more realistic calculations of heavy-ion collisions. In this intermediate review, we summarize and discuss the present status of the project. We also provide condensed descriptions of the 26 participating codes, which contributed to some part of the project. These include the major codes in use today. We review the main results of the studies completed so far. They show, that in box calculations the differences between the codes can be well understood and a convergence of the results can be reached. These studies also highlight the systematic differences between the two families of transport codes, known as BUU and QMD type codes. However, when the codes were compared in full heavy-ion collisions using different physical models, as recently for pion production, they still yielded substantially different results. This calls for further comparisons of heavy-ion collisions with controlled models and of box comparisons of important ingredients, like momentum-dependent fields, which are currently underway. We often indicate improved strategies in performing transport simulations and thus provide guidance to code developers. Results of transport simulations of heavy-ion collisions from a given code will have more significance if the code can be validated against benchmark calculations such as the ones summarized in this review.

The $Z_{cs}(3985)$ as a threshold effect from the $\bar D_s^* D + \bar D_s D^*$ interaction

We study the $e^+ e^- \to K^+ ( D_s^{*-} D^0 + D_s^- D^{*0})$ reaction recently measured at BESIII, from where a new $Z_{cs}$ state has been reported. We study the interaction of $\bar D_s D^*$ with the coupled channels $J/ψK^-$, $K^{*-} η_c$, $D_s^- D^{*0}$, $D_s^{*-} D^0$ by means of an extension to the charm sector of the local hidden gauge approach. We find that the $D_s^- D^{*0}+ D_s^{*-} D^0$ combination couples to $J/ψK^-$ and $K^{*-} η_c$, but the $D_s^- D^{*0}- D_s^{*-} D^0$ combination does not. The coupled channels help to build up strength in the $D_s^- D^{*0}+ D_s^{*-} D^0$ diagonal scattering matrix close to threshold and, although the interaction is not strong enough to produce a bound state or resonance, it is sufficient to produce a large accumulation of strength at the $\bar D_s D^*$ threshold in the $e^+ e^- \to K^+ ( D_s^{*-} D^0 + D_s^- D^{*0})$ reaction in agreement with experiment.

$Υ(nl)$ decay into $ B^{(*)} \bar B^{(*)}$

We have evaluated the decay modes of the $Υ(4s), Υ(3d), Υ(5s), Υ(6s)$ states into $B\bar B, B\bar B^*+c.c., B^* \bar B^*, B_s \bar B_s, B_s \bar B^*_s +c.c., B^*_s \bar B_s^* $ using the $^3P_0$ model to hadronize the $b\bar b$ vector seed, fitting some parameters to the data. We observe that the $Υ(4s)$ state has an abnormally large amount of meson-meson components in the wave function, while the other states are largely $b\bar b$. We predict branching ratios for the different decay channels which can be contrasted with experiment for the case of the $Υ(5s)$ state. While globally the agreement is fair, we call the attention to some disagreement that could be a warning for the existence of more elaborate components in the state.

Effects of Pauli blocking on pion production in central collisions of neutron-rich nuclei

Pauli blocking is carefully investigated for the processes of $NN \rightarrow N Δ$ and $Δ\rightarrow N π$ in heavy-ion collisions, aiming at a more precise prediction of the $π^-/ π^+$ ratio which is an important observable to constrain the high-density symmetry energy. We use the AMD+JAM approach, which combines the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics for the time evolution of nucleons and the JAM model to treat processes for $Δ$ resonances and pions. As is known in general transport-code simulations, it is difficult to treat Pauli blocking very precisely due to unphysical fluctuations and additional smearing of the phase-space distribution function, when Pauli blocking is treated in the standard method of JAM. We propose an improved method in AMD+JAM to use the Wigner function precisely calculated in AMD as the blocking probability. Different Pauli blocking methods are compared in heavy-ion collisions of neutron-rich nuclei, ${}^{132}\mathrm{Sn}+{}^{124}\mathrm{Sn}$, at 270 MeV/nucleon. With the more accurate method, we find that Pauli blocking is stronger, in particular for the neutron in the final state in $NN \rightarrow N Δ$ and $ Δ\to Nπ$, compared to the case with a proton in the final state. Consequently, the $π^-/π^+$ ratio becomes higher when the Pauli blocking is improved, the effect of which is found to be comparable to the sensitivity to the high-density symmetry energy.

Molecular picture for the $Ω(2012)$ revisited

We conduct a study of the interaction of the $\bar K Ξ^*$, $ηΩ$($s$-wave) and $\bar K Ξ$($d$-wave) channels within a coupled channel unitary approach where the transition potential between the $\bar K Ξ^*$ and $ηΩ$ channels is obtained from chiral Lagrangians. The transition potential between $\bar K Ξ^*$, $ηΩ$ and $\bar K Ξ$ is taken in terms of free parameters, which together with a cut off to regularize the meson-baryon loops are fitted to the $Ω(2012)$ data. We find that all data including the recent Belle experiment on $Γ_{Ω^* \to π\bar K Ξ}/ Γ_{Ω^* \to \bar K Ξ}$, are compatible with the molecular picture stemming from meson baryon interaction of these channels.

Meson exchange between initial and final state and the $R_D$ ratio in the $\bar{B} \to D \barν \ell (\barν_ττ)$ reactions

We perform a calculation of the strong interaction effects between the $B$ and $D$ mesons in the $\bar{B} \to D \barν \ell$ reaction, as a crossing process of reactions with $BD$ in the final state, where the strong interaction between the mesons leads to a bound $BD$ state. We find corrections to the tree level amplitude of the order of $15-25\%$. We further see the effect of the corrections studied in the $R_D$ ratio for the rates of $\bar{B} \to D \barν_ττ$ and $\bar{B} \to D \barν_e \ell$ decays and find corrections of the order of $10\%$. Given the claims of $1.5\%$ precision in this ratio from fits to data within the standard model, any theoretical model aiming at describing this ratio within the same precision must take into account the corrections described in the present work.

Weak decays of heavy hadrons into dynamically generated resonances

In this review we give a perspective of the theoretical work done recently on the interpretation of results from $B$, $D$, $Λ_b$, $Λ_c$ weak decays into final states that contain interacting hadrons, and how it is possible to obtain additional valuable information that is increasing our understanding of hadron interactions and the nature of many hadronic resonances. The novelty of these processes is that one begins with a clean picture at the quark level which allows one to select the basic mechanisms by means of which the process proceeds. Finally, one has a final state described in terms of quarks. To make contact with the experiments, where mesons and baryons are observed, one must hadronize, creating pairs of $q \bar q$ and writing the new states in terms of mesons and baryons. This concludes the primary hadron production in these processes. After that, the interaction of these hadrons takes place, offering a rich spectrum of resonances and special features from where it is possible to learn much about the interaction of these hadrons and the nature of many resonances in terms of the components of their wave functions.

(d,3He) reaction on odd-neutron nuclear target for the formation of deeply bound pionic atoms

We consider the pionic atom spectroscopy by the (d,3He) reaction on an odd-neutron nuclear target in this article, which has not been investigated so far. In the (d,3He) reaction on the odd-neutron nuclear target, we can observe the pionic states in the even-neutron nucleus with spin-parity 0+. We expect that this pionic state does not have the additional shifts due to the effects of the residual interaction between neutron-hole and pionic states. For the even-neutron nuclear target cases, we may have to take into account the residual interaction effects to deduce the binding energies of the pionic states precisely from the high precision experimental data since the final pionic states are the pion-particle plus neutron-hole states. Thus, in addition to widening the domain of the pionic atom spectroscopy in nuclear chart, the present study of the (d,3He) reaction on the odd-neutron target is considered to be important to deduce extremely precise information on the binding energies of the observed pionic states, and to know the pion properties and aspects of the symmetries of the strong interaction at finite density. We modify the formula of the even-even nuclear target case to study the pionic atom formation spectra on the even-odd nuclear target and show the numerical results of 117Sn target case. This experiment will be performed at RIBF/RIKEN in near future.

$η^\prime$ meson under partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium

In-medium modification of the eta' mass is discussed in the context of partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium. We emphasize that the U_A(1) anomaly effects causes the eta'-eta mass difference necessarily through the chiral symmetry breaking. As a consequence, the eta' mass is expected to be reduced by order of 100 MeV in nuclear matter where about 30% reduction of chiral symmetry takes place. The strong attraction relating to the eta' mass generation eventually implies that there should be also a strong attractive interaction in the scalar channel of the eta'-N two-body system. We find that the attraction can be strong enough to form a bound state.

Precision Spectroscopy of Deeply Bound Pionic Atoms and Partial Restoration of Chiral Symmetry in Medium

We study theoretically the formation spectra of deeply bound pionic atoms expected to be observed by experiments with high energy resolution at RIBF/RIKEN, and we discuss in detail the possibilities to extract new information on the pion properties at finite density from the observed spectra, which may provide information on partial restoration of chiral symmetry in medium. We find that the non-yrast pionic states such as 2s are expected to be seen in the (d,3He) spectra, which will be helpful to reduce uncertainties of the theoretical calculations in the neutron wave functions in nucleus. The observation of the 2s state with the ground 1s state is also helpful to reduce the experimental uncertainties associated in the calibration of the absolute excitation energy. We find that the nuclear densities probed by atomic pions are quite stable and almost constant for various atomic states and various nuclei. Effects of the pion wave function renormalization to the formation spectra are also evaluated.
