A Selberg Trace Formula for $\text{GL}_{3}(\mathbb{F}_p)\backslash \text{GL}_{3}(\mathbb{F}_q)/K$

In this paper, we prove a discrete analog of the Selberg Trace Formula for the group $\text{GL}_{3}(\mathbb{F}_q).$ By considering a cubic extension of the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, we define an analog of the upper half space and an action of $\text{GL}_{3}(\mathbb{F}_q)$ on it. To compute the orbital sums we explicitly identify the double coset spaces and fundamental domains in our upper half space. To understand the spectral side of the trace formula we decompose the induced representation $ρ= \text{Ind}_Γ^{G} 1$ for $G= \text{GL}_{3}(\mathbb{F}_q) $ and $ Γ= \text{GL}_{3}(\mathbb{F}_p).$

Bootstrapping Dirac Ensembles

We apply the bootstrap technique to find the moments of certain multi-trace and multi-matrix random matrix models suggested by noncommutative geometry. Using bootstrapping we are able to find the relationships between the coupling constant of these models and their second moments. Using the Schwinger-Dyson equations, all other moments can be expressed in terms of the coupling constant and the second moment. Explicit relations for higher mixed moments are obtained.

Hopf Cyclic Cohomology and Beyond

This paper is an introduction to Hopf cyclic cohomology with an emphasis on its most recent developments. We cover three major areas: the original definition of Hopf cyclic cohomology by Connes and Moscovici as an outgrowth of their study of transverse index theory on foliated manifolds, the introduction of Hopf cyclic cohomology with coefficients by Hajac-Khalkhali-Rangipour-Sommerhauser, and finally the latest episode on unifying the coefficients as well as extending the notion to more general settings beyond Hopf algebras. In particular, the last section discusses the relative Hopf cyclic theory that arises in the braided monoidal category settings.

Spectral Statistics of Dirac Ensembles

In this paper we find spectral properties in the large $N$ limit of Dirac operators that come from random finite noncommutative geometries. In particular for a Gaussian potential the limiting eigenvalue spectrum is shown to be universal regardless of the geometry and is given by the convolution of the semicircle law with itself. For simple non-Gaussian models this convolution property is also evident. In order to prove these results we show that a wide class of multi-trace multimatrix models have a genus expansion.

Curvature in Noncommutative Geometry

Our understanding of the notion of curvature in a noncommutative setting has progressed substantially in the past ten years. This new episode in noncommutative geometry started when a Gauss-Bonnet theorem was proved by Connes and Tretkoff for a curved noncommutative two torus. Ideas from spectral geometry and heat kernel asymptotic expansions suggest a general way of defining local curvature invariants for noncommutative Riemannian type spaces where the metric structure is encoded by a Dirac type operator. To carry explicit computations however one needs quite intriguing new ideas. We give an account of the most recent developments on the notion of curvature in noncommutative geometry in this paper.

Phase Transition in Random Noncommutative Geometries

We present an analytic proof of the existence of phase transition in the large $N$ limit of certain random noncommutaitve geometries. These geometries can be expressed as ensembles of Dirac operators. When they reduce to single matrix ensembles, one can apply the Coulomb gas method to find the empirical spectral distribution. We elaborate on the nature of the large $N$ spectral distribution of the Dirac operator itself. Furthermore, we show that these models exhibit both a single and double cut region for certain values of the order parameter and find the exact value where the transition occurs.

A Scalar Curvature Formula For the Noncommutative 3-Torus

We compute the scalar curvature of a curved noncommutative 3-torus. To perturb the flat metric, the standard volume form on the noncommutative 3-torus is conformally perturbed and the corresponding perturbed Laplacian is analyzed. Using Connes' pseudodifferential calculus for the noncommutative 3-torus, we explicitly compute the first three terms of the small time heat kernel expansion for the perturbed Laplacian. The third term of the expansion gives a local formula for the scalar curvature. Finally, we show that in the classical limit when the deformation parameters vanish, our formula coincides with the formula for the commutative case.

On Certain Spectral Invariants of Dirac Operators on Noncommutative Tori

The spectral eta function for certain families of Dirac operators on noncommutative $3$-torus is considered and the regularity at zero is proved. By using variational techniques, we show that $η_{D}(0)$ is a conformal invariant. By studying the Laurent expansion at zero of $\text{TR} (|D|^{-z})$, the conformal invariance of $ζ'_{|D|}(0)$ for noncommutative $3$-torus is proved. Finally, for the coupled Dirac operator, a local formula for the variation $\partial_Aη_{D+A}(0)$ is derived which is the analogue of the so called induced Chern-Simons term in quantum field theory literature.

Rationality of Spectral Action for Robertson-Walker Metrics

We use pseudodifferential calculus and heat kernel techniques to prove a conjecture by Chamseddine and Connes on rationality of the coefficients of the polynomials in the cosmic scale factor $a(t)$ and its higher derivatives, which describe the general terms $a_{2n}$ in the expansion of the spectral action for general Robertson-Walker metrics. We also compute the terms up to $a_{12}$ in the expansion of the spectral action by our method. As a byproduct, we verify that our computations agree with the terms up to $a_{10}$ that were previously computed by Chamseddine and Connes by a different method.

A Riemann-Roch theorem for the noncommutative two torus

We prove the analogue of the Riemann-Roch formula for the noncommutative two torus $ A_θ = C(\mathbb{T}_θ^2)$ equipped with an arbitrary translation invariant complex structure and a Weyl factor represented by a positive element $k\in C^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}_θ^2)$. We consider a topologically trivial line bundle equipped with a general holomorphic structure and the corresponding twisted Dolbeault Laplacians. We define an spectral triple ($A_θ, \mathcal{H}, D)$ that encodes the twisted Dolbeault complex of $ A_θ$ and whose index gives the left hand side of the Riemann-Roch formula. Using Connes' pseudodifferential calculus and heat equation techniques, we explicitly compute the $b_2$ terms of the asymptotic expansion of $\text{Tr} (e^{-tD^2})$. We find that the curvature term on the right hand side of the Riemann-Roch formula coincides with the scalar curvature of the noncommutative torus recently defined and computed in \cite{CM1} and \cite{FK2}.

A Two Dimensional Adler-Manin Trace and Bi-singular Operators

Motivated by the theory of bi-singular pseudodifferential operators, we introduce a two dimensional version of the Adler-Manin trace. Our construction is rather general in the sense that it involves a twist afforded by an algebra automorphism. That is, starting from an algebra equipped with an automorphism, two twisted derivations, and a twisted invariant trace, we construct an algebra of formal twisted pseudodifferential symbols and define a noncommutative residue. Also, we provide related examples.

Scalar Curvature for Noncommutative Four-Tori

In this paper we study the curved geometry of noncommutative 4-tori $\mathbb{T}_θ^4$. We use a Weyl conformal factor to perturb the standard volume form and obtain the Laplacian that encodes the local geometric information. We use Connes' pseudodifferential calculus to explicitly compute the terms in the small time heat kernel expansion of the perturbed Laplacian which correspond to the volume and scalar curvature of $\mathbb{T}_θ^4$. We establish the analogue of Weyl's law, define a noncommutative residue, prove the analogue of Connes' trace theorem, and find explicit formulas for the local functions that describe the scalar curvature of $\mathbb{T}_θ^4$. We also study the analogue of the Einstein-Hilbert action for these spaces and show that metrics with constant scalar curvature are critical for this action.

Weyl's Law and Connes' Trace Theorem for Noncommutative Two Tori

We prove the analogue of Weyl's law for a noncommutative Riemannian manifold, namely the noncommutative two torus $\mathbb{T}_θ^2$ equipped with a general translation invariant conformal structure and a Weyl conformal factor. This is achieved by studying the asymptotic distribution of the eigenvalues of the perturbed Laplacian on $\mathbb{T}_θ^2$. We also prove the analogue of Connes' trace theorem by showing that the Dixmier trace and a noncommutative residue coincide on pseudodifferential operators of order -2 on $\mathbb{T}_θ^2$.

Noncommutative complex geometry of the quantum projective space

We define holomorphic structures on canonical line bundles of the quantum projective space $\qp^{\ell}_q$ and identify their space of holomorphic sections. This determines the quantum homogeneous coordinate ring of the quantum projective space. We show that the fundamental class of $\qp^{\ell}_q$ is naturally presented by a twisted positive Hochschild cocycle. Finally, we verify the main statements of Riemann-Roch formula and Serre duality for $\qp^{1}_q$ and $\qp^{2}_q$.

Scalar Curvature for the Noncommutative Two Torus

We give a local expression for the {\it scalar curvature} of the noncommutative two torus $ A_θ = C(\mathbb{T}_θ^2)$ equipped with an arbitrary translation invariant complex structure and Weyl factor. This is achieved by evaluating the value of the (analytic continuation of the) {\it spectral zeta functional} $ζ_a(s): = \text{Trace}(a \triangle^{-s})$ at $s=0$ as a linear functional in $a \in C^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}_θ^2)$. A new, purely noncommutative, feature here is the appearance of the {\it modular automorphism group} from the theory of type III factors and quantum statistical mechanics in the final formula for the curvature. This formula coincides with the formula that was recently obtained independently by Connes and Moscovici in their recent paper.

A Super Version of the Connes-Moscovici Hopf Algebra

We define a super version of the Connes-Moscovici Hopf algebra, $\mathcal{H}_1$. For that, we consider the supergroup $G^s=Diff^+(\mathbb{R}^{1,1})$ of orientation preserving diffeomorphisms of the superline $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}$ and define two (super) subgroups $G^s_1$ and $G^s_2$ of $G^s$ where $G^s_1$ is the supergroup of affine transformations. The super Hopf algebra $\mathcal{H} ^s_1$ is defined as a certain bicrossproduct super Hopf algebra of the super Hopf algebras attached to $G^s_1$ and $G^s_2$. We also give an explicit description of $\mathcal{H} ^s_1$ in terms of generators and relations.

Holomorphic structures on the quantum projective line

We show that much of the structure of the 2-sphere as a complex curve survives the q-deformation and has natural generalizations to the quantum 2-sphere - which, with additional structures, we identify with the quantum projective line. Notably among these is the identification of a quantum homogeneous coordinate ring with the coordinate ring of the quantum plane. In parallel with the fact that positive Hochschild cocycles on the algebra of smooth functions on a compact oriented 2-dimensional manifold encode the information for complex structures on the surface, we formulate a notion of twisted positivity for twisted Hochschild and cyclic cocycles and exhibit an explicit twisted positive Hochschild cocycle for the complex structure on the sphere.

The Gauss-Bonnet Theorem for Noncommutative Two Tori With a General Conformal Structure

In this paper we give a proof of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem of Connes and Tretkoff for noncommutative two tori $\mathbb{T}_θ^2$ equipped with an arbitrary translation invariant complex structure. More precisely, we show that for any complex number $τ$ in the upper half plane, representing the conformal class of a metric on $\mathbb{T}_θ^2$, and a Weyl factor given by a positive invertible element $k \in C^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}_θ^2)$, the value at the origin, $ζ(0)$, of the spectral zeta function of the Laplacian $\triangle'$ attached to $(\mathbb{T}_θ^2, τ, k)$ is independent of $τ$ and $k$.

Stable anti-Yetter-Drinfeld modules

We define and study a class of entwined modules (stable anti-Yetter-Drinfeld modules) that serve as coefficients for the Hopf-cyclic homology and cohomology. In particular, we explain their relationship with Yetter-Drinfeld modules and Drinfeld doubles. Among sources of examples of stable anti-Yetter-Drinfeld modules, we find Hopf-Galois extensions with a flipped version of the Miyashita-Ulbrich action.
