Relationships between two linearizations of the box-ball system : Kerov-Kirillov-Reschetikhin bijection and slot configuration

The box-ball system (BBS), which was introduced by Takahashi and Satsuma in 1990, is a soliton cellular automaton. Its dynamics can be linearized by a few methods, among which the best known is the Kerov-Kirillov-Reschetikhin (KKR) bijection using rigged partitions. Recently a new linearization method in terms of "slot configurations" was introduced by Ferrari-Nguyen-Rolla-Wang, but its relations to existing ones have not been clarified. In this paper we investigate this issue and clarify the relation between the two linearizations. For this we introduce a novel way of describing the BBS dynamics using a carrier with seat numbers. We show that the seat number configuration also linearizes the BBS and reveals explicit relations between the KKR bijection and the slot configuration. In addition, by using these explicit relations, we also show that even in case of finite carrier capacity the BBS can be linearized via the slot configuration.

Varadhan's decomposition of shift-invariant closed uniform forms for large scale interacting systems on general crystal lattices

We prove a uniform version of Varadhan decomposition for shift-invariant closed uniform forms associated to large scale interacting systems on general crystal lattices. In particular, this result includes the case of translation invariant processes on Euclidean lattices $\mathbf{Z}^d$ with finite range. Our result generalizes the result of arXiv:2009.04699 which was valid for systems on transferable graphs. In subsequent research, we will use the result of this article to prove Varadhan's decomposition of closed $L^2$-forms for large scale interacting systems on general crystal lattices.

Thermal conductivity for stochastic energy exchange models

We consider a class of stochastic models for energy transport and study relations between the thermal conductivity and some static observables, such as the static conductivity, which is defined as the contribution of static correlations in Green-Kubo formula. The class of models is a generalization of two specific models derived by Gaspard and Gilbert as mesoscopic dynamics of energies for two-dimensional and three-dimensional locally confined hard-discs. They claim some equalities hold between the thermal conductivity and several static observables and also conjecture that these equations are universal in the sense that they hold for mesoscopic dynamics of energies for confined particles interacting through hard-core collisions. In this paper, we give sufficient and necessary conditions for these equalities to hold in the class we introduce. In particular, we prove that the equality between the thermal conductivity and other static observables holds if and only if the model obeys the gradient condition. Since the gradient condition does not hold for models derived by Gaspard and Gilbert, our result implies a part of their claim is incorrect.

Spectral gap for stochastic energy exchange model with nonuniformly positive rate function

We give a lower bound on the spectral gap for a class of stochastic energy exchange models. In 2011, Grigo et al. introduced the model and showed that, for a class of stochastic energy exchange models with a uniformly positive rate function, the spectral gap of an $N$-component system is bounded from below by a function of order $N^{-2}$. In this paper, we consider the case where the rate function is not uniformly positive. For this case, the spectral gap depends not only on $N$ but also on the averaged energy $\mathcal{E}$, which is the conserved quantity under the dynamics. Under some assumption, we obtain a lower bound of the spectral gap which is of order $C(\mathcal{E})N^{-2}$ where $C(\mathcal{E})$ is a positive constant depending on $\mathcal {E}$. As a corollary of the result, a lower bound of the spectral gap for the mesoscopic energy exchange process of billiard lattice studied by Gaspard and Gilbert [J. Stat. Mech. Theory Exp. 2008 (2008) p11021, J. Stat. Mech. Theory Exp. 2009 (2009) p08020] and the stick process studied by Feng et al. [Stochastic Process. Appl. 66 (1997) 147-182] are obtained.

Eigenvalue problem for some special class of anti-triangular matrices

We study the eigenvalue problem for some special class of anti-triangular matrices. Though the eigenvalue problem is quite classical, as far as we know, almost nothing is known about properties of eigenvalues for anti-triangular matrices. In this paper, we show that there is a nice class of anti-triangular matrices whose eigenvalues are given explicitly by their elements. Moreover, this class contains several interesting subclasses which we characterize in terms of probability measures. We also discuss the application of our main theorem to the study of interacting particle systems, which are stochastic processes studied in extensive literature.

From normal diffusion to superdiffusion of energy in the evanescent flip noise limit

We consider a harmonic chain perturbed by an energy conserving noise depending on a parameter $γ$. When $γ$ is of order one, the energy diffuses according to the standard heat equation after a space-time diffusive scaling. On the other hand, when $γ=0$, the energy superdiffuses according to a 3/4 fractional heat equation after a subdiffusive space-time scaling. In this paper, we study the existence of a crossover between these two regimes as a function of $γ$.

On the spectral gap of the kac walk and other binary collision processes on $d$-dimensional lattice

We give a lower bound on the spectral gap for a class of binary collision processes. In 2008, Caputo showed that, for a class of binary collision processes given by simple averages on the complete graph, the analysis of the spectral gap of an $N$-component system is reduced to that of the same system for N=3 In this paper, we give a comparison technique to reduce the analysis of the spectral gap of binary collision processes given by simple averages on $d$-dimensional lattice to that on the complete graph. We also give a comparison technique to reduce the analysis of the spectral gap of binary collision processes which are not given by simple averages to that given by simple averages. Combining them with Caputo's result, we give a new and elementary method to obtain spectral gap estimates. The method applies to a number of binary collision processes on the complete graph and also on d-dimensional lattice, including a class of energy exchange models which was recently introduced in by Grigo et al., and zero-range processes.

Fluctuations in an Evolutional Model of Two-Dimensional Young Diagrams

We discuss the non-equilibrium fluctuation problem, which corresponds to the hydrodynamic limit established in \cite{FS}, for the dynamics of two-dimensional Young diagrams associated with the uniform and restricted uniform statistics, and derive linear stochastic partial differential equations in the limit. We show that their invariant measures are identical to the Gaussian measures which appear in the fluctuation limits in the static situations.
