Hydrodynamic limit for a boundary driven super-diffusive symmetric exclusion

We study the hydrodynamic limit for a model of symmetric exclusion processes with heavy-tailed long jumps and in contact with infinitely extended reservoirs. We show how the corresponding hydrodynamic equations are affected by the parameters defining the model. The hydrodynamic equations are characterized by a class of super-diffusive operators that are given by the regional fractional Laplacian with some additional reaction terms and various boundary conditions. This work solves some questions left open in \cite{BJGO2} about the same model.

From normal diffusion to superdiffusion of energy in the evanescent flip noise limit

We consider a harmonic chain perturbed by an energy conserving noise depending on a parameter $γ$. When $γ$ is of order one, the energy diffuses according to the standard heat equation after a space-time diffusive scaling. On the other hand, when $γ=0$, the energy superdiffuses according to a 3/4 fractional heat equation after a subdiffusive space-time scaling. In this paper, we study the existence of a crossover between these two regimes as a function of $γ$.

Occupation times of long-range exclusion and connections to KPZ class exponents

With respect to a class of long-range exclusion processes on $\mathbb{Z}^d$, with single particle transition rates of order $|\cdot|^{-(d+α)}$, starting under Bernoulli invariant measure $ν_ρ$ with density $ρ$, we consider the fluctuation behavior of occupation times at a vertex and more general additive functionals. Part of our motivation is to investigate the dependence on $α$, $d$ and $ρ$ with respect to the variance of these functionals and associated scaling limits. In the case the rates are symmetric, among other results, we find the scaling limits exhaust a range of fractional Brownian motions with Hurst parameter $H\in [1/2,3/4]$. However, in the asymmetric case, we study the asymptotics of the variances, which when $d=1$ and $ρ=1/2$ points to a curious dichotomy between long-range strength parameters $0<α\leq 3/2$ and $α>3/2$. In the former case, the order of the occupation time variance is the same as under the process with symmetrized transition rates, which are calculated exactly. In the latter situation, we provide consistent lower and upper bounds and other motivations that this variance order is the same as under the asymmetric short-range model, which is connected to KPZ class scalings of the space-time bulk mass density fluctuations.

Entropy of non-equilibrium stationary measures of boundary driven TASEP

We examine the entropy of non-equilibrium stationary states of boundary driven totally asymmetric simple exclusion processes. As a consequence, we obtain that the Gibbs-Shannon entropy of the non equilibrium stationary state converges to the Gibbs-Shannon entropy of the local equilibrium state. Moreover, we prove that its fluctuations are Gaussian, except when the mean displacement of particles produced by the bulk dynamics agrees with the particle flux induced by the density reservoirs in the maximal phase regime.

Small perturbation of a disordered harmonic chain by a noise and an anharmonic potential

We study the thermal properties of a pinned disordered harmonic chain weakly perturbed by a noise and an anharmonic potential. The noise is controlled by a parameter $λ\rightarrow 0$, and the anharmonicity by a parameter $λ' \le λ$. Let $κ$ be the conductivity of the chain, defined through the Green-Kubo formula. Under suitable hypotheses, we show that $κ= \mathcal O (λ)$ and, in the absence of anharmonic potential, that $κ\sim λ$. This is in sharp contrast with the ordered chain for which $κ\sim 1/λ$, and so shows the persitence of localization effects for a non-integrable dynamics.

Anomalous diffusion for a class of systems with two conserved quantities

We introduce a class of one dimensional deterministic models of energy-volume conserving interfaces. Numerical simulations show that these dynamics are genuinely super-diffusive. We then modify the dynamics by adding a conservative stochastic noise so that it becomes ergodic. System of conservation laws are derived as hydrodynamic limits of the modified dynamics. Numerical evidence shows these models are still super-diffusive. This is proven rigorously for harmonic potentials.
