The Behaviour of the Green Function for the BFKL Pomeron with Running Coupling

We analyse here in LO the physical properties of the Green function solution for the BFKL equation. We show that the solution obeys the orthonormality conditions in the physical region and fulfills the completeness requirements. The unintegrated gluon density is shown to consists of a set of few poles with parameters which could be determined by comparison with the DIS data of high precision.

Pomeron in the N=4 supersymmetric gauge model at strong couplings

We find the BFKL Pomeron intercept at N=4 supersymmetric gauge theory in the form of the inverse coupling expansion j0=2-2/lambda**(1/2)-1/lambda + 1/4 1/lambda**(3/2) + 2(1+3zeta3)/lambda**(2) + O(1/lambda**(5/2)) with the use of the AdS/CFT correspondence in terms of string energies calculated recently. The corresponding slope gamma'(2) of the anomalous dimension calculated directly up to the fifth order of perturbation theory turns out to be in an agreement with the closed expression obtained from the recent Basso results.

BFKL Evolution as a Communicator Between Small and Large Energy Scales

We analyze, in leading and next to leading order of BFKL, a possible influence of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) effects on the structure of the discrete pomeron states. We show that the eigenvalues of the states which contribute significantly to the gluon density in the observable region are substantially modified by BSM effects irrespective of the assumptions about the infrared boundary conditions. We also develop a physically motivated heuristic model of the infrared boundary condition which determines the gluon structure function and argue, using this model, that the analysis of the present and future low-$x$ data could allow the detection of a supersymmetry scale in the multi-TeV range.

BFKL approach and 2->5 MHV amplitude

We study MHV amplitude for the 2 -> 5 scattering in the multi-Regge kinematics. The Mandelstam cut correction to the BDS amplitude is calculated in the leading logarithmic approximation (LLA) and the corresponding remainder function is given to any loop order in a closed integral form. We show that the LLA remainder function at two loops for 2 -> 5 amplitude can be written as a sum of two 2 -> 4 remainder functions due to recursive properties of the leading order impact factors. We also make some generalizations for the MHV amplitudes with more external particles. The results of the present study are in agreement with all leg two loop symbol derived by Caron-Huot as shown in a parallel paper of one of the authors with collaborators.

Ward Identities for Amplitudes with Reggeized Gluons

Starting from the effective action of high energy QCD we derive Ward identities for Green's functions of reggeized gluons. They follow from the gauge invariance of the effective action, and allow to derive new representations of amplitudes containing physical particles as well as reggeized gluons. We explicitly demonstrate their validity for the BFKL kernel, and we present a new derivation of the kernel.

BFKL equation for the adjoint representation of the gauge group in the next-to-leading approximation at N=4 SUSY

We calculate the eigenvalues of the next-to-leading kernel for the BFKL equation in the adjoint representation of the gauge group $SU(N_c)$ in the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills model. These eigenvalues are used to obtain the high energy behavior of the remainder function for the 6-point scattering amplitude with the maximal helicity violation in the kinematical regions containing the Mandelstam cut contribution. The leading and next-to-leading singularities of the corresponding collinear anomalous dimension are calculated in all orders of perturbation theory. We compare our result with the known collinear limit and with the recently suggested ansatz for the remainder function in three loops and obtain the full agreement providing that the numerical parameters in this anzatz are chosen in an appropriate way.

Collinear and Regge behavior of 2 -> 4 MHV amplitude in N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory

We investigate the collinear and Regge behavior of the 2 -> 4 MHV amplitude in N = 4super Yang-Mills theory in the BFKL approach. The expression for the remainder function in the collinear kinematics proposed by Alday, Gaiotto, Maldacena, Sever and Vieira is analytically continued to the Mandelstam region. The result of the continuation in the Regge kinematics shows an agreement with the BFKL approach up to to five-loop level. We present the Regge theory interpretation of the obtained results and discuss some issues related to a possible non-multiplicative renormalization of the remainder function in the collinear limit.

Effective action for the Regge processes in gravity

It is shown, that the effective action for the reggeized graviton interactions can be formulated in terms of the reggeon fields $A^{++}$ and $A^{--}$ and the metric tensor $g_{μν}$ in such a way, that it is local in the rapidity space and has the property of general covariance. The corresponding effective currents $j^{-}$ and $j^{+}$ satisfy the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for a massless particle moving in the gravitational field. These currents are calculated explicitly for the shock wave-like fields and a variation principle for them is formulated. As an application, we reproduce the effective lagrangian for the multi-regge processes in gravity together with the graviton Regge trajectory in the leading logarithmic approximation with taking into account supersymmetric contributions.

Gluon production on two centers and the effective action approach

Application of the effective action formalism is studied for processes in which the reggeons may split. It is shown that the gluon production on two centers is described by the contribution of the Reggeon-to-two-Reggeons-plus-Particle vertex supplemented by certain singular contributions from the double gluon exchange. The rules for longitudinal integrations are established from the comparison to perturbative QCD amplitude. Convenient expressions for application to the inclusive gluon production are derived.

Indirect Evidence for New Physics at the 10 TeV Scale

We show that the supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model modifies the structure of the low lying BFKL discrete pomeron states (DPS) which give a sizable contribution to the gluon structure function in the HERA x and Q2 region. The comparison of the gluon density, determined within DPS with N=1 SUSY, with data favours a supersymmetry scale of the order of 10 TeV. The DPS method described here could open a new window to the physics beyond the Standard Model.

Integrable spin chains and scattering amplitudes

In this review we show that the multi-particle scattering amplitudes in N=4 SYM at large Nc and in the multi-Regge kinematics for some physical regions have the high energy behavior appearing from the contribution of the Mandelstam cuts in the complex angular momentum plane of the corresponding t-channel partial waves. These Mandelstam cuts or Regge cuts are resulting from gluon composite states in the adjoint representation of the gauge group SU(Nc). In the leading logarithmic approximation (LLA) their contribution to the six point amplitude is in full agreement with the known two-loop result. The Hamiltonian for the Mandelstam states constructed from n gluons in LLA coincides with the local Hamiltonian of an integrable open spin chain. We construct the corresponding wave functions using the integrals of motion and the Baxter-Sklyanin approach.

Analytic properties of high energy production amplitudes in N=4 SUSY

We investigate analytic properties of the six point planar amplitude in N=4 SUSY at the multi-Regge kinematics for final state particles. For inelastic processes the Steinmann relations play an important role because they give a possibility to fix the phase structure of the Regge pole and Mandelstam cut contributions. These contributions have the Moebius invariant form in the transverse momentum subspace. The analyticity and factorization constraints allow us to reproduce the two-loop correction to the 6-point BDS amplitude in N=4 SUSY obtained earlier in the leading logarithmic approximation with the use of the s-channel unitarity. The exponentiation hypothesis for the remainder function in the multi-Regge kinematics is also investigated. The 6-point amplitude in LLA can be completely reproduced from the BDS ansatz with the use of the analyticity and Regge factorization.

BFKL approach and six-particle MHV amplitude in N=4 super Yang-Mills

We consider the planar MHV amplitude in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory for 2 -> 4 particle scattering at two and three loops in the Regge kinematics. We perform an analytic continuation of two-loop result for the remainder function found by Goncharov, Spradlin, Vergu and Volovich to the physical region, where the remainder function does not vanish in the Regge limit. After the continuation both the leading and the subleading in the logarithm of the energy terms are extracted and analyzed. Using this result we calculate the next-to-leading corrections to the impact factors required in the BFKL approach. The BFKL technique was used to find the leading imaginary and real parts of the remainder function at three loops.

Mandelstam cuts and light-like Wilson loops in N=4 SUSY

We perform an analytic continuation of the two-loop remainder function for the six-point planar MHV amplitude in N=4 SUSY, found by Goncharov, Spradlin, Vergu and Volovich from the light-like Wilson loop representation. The remainder function is continued into a physical region, where all but two energy invariants are negative. It turns out to be pure imaginary in the multi-Regge kinematics, which is in an agreement with the predictions based on the Steinmann relations for the Regge poles and Mandelstam cut contributions. The leading term reproduces correctly the expression calculated by one of the authors in the BFKL approach, while the subleading term presents a result, that was not yet found with the use of the unitarity techniques. This supports the applicability of the Wilson loop approach to the planar MHV amplitudes in N=4 SUSY.

MHV amplitude for 3->3 gluon scattering in Regge limit

We calculate corrections to the BDS formula for the six-particle planar MHV amplitude for the gluon transition 3->3 in the multi-Regge kinematics for the physical region, in which the Regge pole ansatz is not valid. The remainder function at two loops is obtained by an analytic continuation of the expression derived by Goncharov, Spradlin, Vergu and Volovich to the kinematic region described by the Mandelstam singularity exchange in the crossing channel. It contains both the imaginary and real contributions being in agreement with the BFKL predictions. The real part of the three loop expression is found from a dispersion-like all-loop formula for the remainder function in the multi-Regge kinematics derived by one of the authors. We also make a prediction for the all-loop real part of the remainder function multiplied by the BDS phase, which can be accessible through calculations in the regime of the strong coupling constant.

Using HERA Data to Determine the Infrared Behaviour of the BFKL Amplitude

We determine the infrared behaviour of the BFKL forward amplitude for gluon-gluon scattering. Our approach, based on the discrete pomeron solution, leads to an excellent description of the new combined inclusive HERA data at low values of x (<0.01) and at the same time determines the unintegrated gluon density inside the proton, for squared transverse momenta of the gluon less than 100 GeV^2. The phases of this amplitude are sensitive to the non-perturbative gluonic dynamics and could be sensitive to the presence of Beyond-the-Standard-Model particles at very high energies.

N=4 supersymmetric Yang Mills scattering amplitudes at high energies: the Regge cut contribution

We further investigate, in the planar limit of N=4 supersymmetric Yang Mills theories, the high energy Regge behavior of six-point MHV scattering amplitudes. In particular, for the new Regge cut contribution found in our previous paper, we compute in the leading logarithmic approximation (LLA) the energy spectrum of the BFKL equation in the color octet channel, and we calculate explicitly the two loop corrections to the discontinuities of the amplitudes for the transitions 2 to 4 and 3 to 3. We find an explicit solution of the BFKL equation for the octet channel for arbitrary momentum transfers and investigate the intercepts of the Regge singularities in this channel. As an important result we find that the universal collinear and infrared singularities of the BDS formula are not affected by this Regge-cut contribution. Any improvement of the BDS formula should reproduce this cut to all orders in the coupling.

Three-loop universal anomalous dimension of the Wilson operators in N=4 SUSY Yang-Mills model

We present results for the three-loop universal anomalous dimension of Wilson twist-2 operators in the N=4 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills model. These results are obtained by extracting the most complicated contributions from the three loop non-singlet anomalous dimensions in QCD which were calculated recently. Their singularities at j=1 agree with the predictions obtained from the BFKL equation for N=4 SYM in the next-to-leading order. The asymptotics of universal anomalous dimension at large j is in an agreement with the expectations based on an interpolation between weak and strong coupling regimes in the framework of the AdS/CFT correspondence.

DGLAP and BFKL evolution equations in the N=4 supersymmetric gauge theory

We derive the DGLAP and BFKL evolution equations in the N=4 supersymmetric gauge theory in the next-to-leading approximation. The eigenvalue of the BFKL kernel in this model turns out to be an analytic function of the conformal spin |n|. Its analytic continuation to negative |n| in the leading logarithmic approximation allows us to obtain residues of anomalous dimensions γof twist-2 operators in the non-physical points j=0,-1,... from the BFKL equation in an agreement with their direct calculation from the DGLAP equation. Moreover, in the multi-color limit of the N=4 model the BFKL and DGLAP dynamics in the leading logarithmic approximation is integrable for an arbitrary number of particles. In the next-to-leading approximation the holomorphic separability of the Pomeron hamiltonian is violated, but the corresponding Bethe-Salpeter kernel has the property of a hermitian separability. The main singularities of anomalous dimensions γat j=-r obtained from the BFKL and DGLAP equations in the next-to-leading approximation coincide but our accuracy is not enough to verify an agreement for residues of subleading poles.

NLO corrections to the BFKL equation in QCD and in supersymmetric gauge theories

We study next-to-leading corrections to the integral kernel of the BFKL equation for high energy cross-sections in QCD and in supersymmetric gauge theories. The eigenvalue of the BFKL kernel is calculated in an analytic form as a function of the anomalous dimension γof the local gauge-invariant operators and their conformal spin n. For the case of an extended N=4 SUSY the kernel is significantly simplified. In particular, the terms non-analytic in n are canceled. We discuss the relation between the DGLAP and BFKL equations in the N=4 model.

Small-x physics in perturbative QCD

We review the parton model and the Regge approach to the QCD description of the deep-inelastic $ep$ scattering at the small Bjorken variable $x$ and demonstrate their relation with the DGLAP and BFKL evolution equations. It is shown, that in the leading logarithmic approximation the gluon is reggeized and the pomeron is a compound state of two reggeized gluons. The conformal invariance of the BFKL pomeron in the impact parameter space is used to investigate the scattering amplitudes at high energies and fixed momentum transfers. The remarkable properties of the Schrödinger equation for compound states of an arbitrary number of reggeized gluons in the multi-colour QCD are reviewed. The gauge-invariant effective action describing the gluon-Reggeon interactions is constructed. The known next-to-leading corrections to the QCD pomeron are discussed.

Gauge invariant effective action for high-energy processes in QCD

The Born amplitudes for quasi-multi-Regge kinematics of produced gluons are constructed in accordance with the Feynman rules including apart from usual Yang-Mills vertices also an infinite number of induced vertices. The new vertices describe the interaction of physical gluons produced in direct channels with the reggeized gluons propagating in crossing channels. The nonlinear gauge invariant effective action reproducing these Feynman rules is constructed with the use of the Wilson contour integrals. After integrating over the physical degrees of freedom the reggeon action is derived.
