Kapranov's $L_\infty$ structures, Fedosov's star products, and one-loop exact BV quantizations on Kähler manifolds

We study quantization schemes on a Kähler manifold and relate several interesting structures. We first construct Fedosov's star products on a Kähler manifold $X$ as quantizations of Kapranov's $L_\infty$-algebra structure. Then we investigate the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) quantizations associated to these star products. A remarkable feature is that they are all one-loop exact, meaning that the Feynman weights associated to graphs with two or more loops all vanish. This leads to a succinct cochain level formula in de Rham cohomology for the algebraic index.

Tropical Lagrangian multi-sections and smoothing of locally free sheaves over degenerate Calabi-Yau surfaces

We introduce the notion of tropical Lagrangian multi-sections over a $2$-dimensional integral affine manifold $B$ with singularities, and use them to study the reconstruction problem for higher rank locally free sheaves over Calabi-Yau surfaces. To certain tropical Lagrangian multi-sections $\mathbb{L}$ over $B$, which are explicitly constructed by prescribing local models around the ramification points, we construct locally free sheaves $\mathcal{E}_0(\mathbb{L},{\bf{k}}_s)$ over the singular projective scheme $X_0(B,\mathscr{P},s)$ associated to $B$ equipped with a polyhedral decomposition $\mathscr{P}$ and a gluing data $s$. We then find combinatorial conditions on such an $\mathbb{L}$ under which the sheaf $\mathcal{E}_0(\mathbb{L},{\bf{k}}_s)$ is simple. This produces explicit examples of smoothable pairs $(X_0(B,\mathscr{P},s),\mathcal{E}_0(\mathbb{L},{\bf{k}}_s))$ in dimension 2.

Geometric quantization via SYZ transforms

The so-called quantization problem in geometric quantization is asking whether the space of wave functions is independent of the choice of polarization. In this paper, we apply SYZ transforms to solve the quantization problem in two cases: (1) semi-flat Lagrangian torus fibrations over complete compact integral affine manifolds, and (2) projective toric manifolds. More precisely, we prove that the space of wave functions associated to the real polarization is canonically isomorphic to that associated to a complex polarization via SYZ transforms in both cases.

Tropical counting from asymptotic analysis on Maurer-Cartan equations

Let $X = X_Σ$ be a toric surface and $(\check{X}, W)$ be its Landau-Ginzburg (LG) mirror where $W$ is the Hori-Vafa potential. We apply asymptotic analysis to study the extended deformation theory of the LG model $(\check{X}, W)$, and prove that semi-classical limits of Fourier modes of a specific class of Maurer-Cartan solutions naturally give rise to tropical disks in $X$ with Maslov index 0 or 2, the latter of which produces a universal unfolding of $W$. For $X = \mathbb{P}^2$, our construction reproduces Gross' perturbed potential $W_n$ which was proven to be the universal unfolding of $W$ written in canonical coordinates. We also explain how the extended deformation theory can be used to reinterpret the jumping phenomenon of $W_n$ across walls of the scattering diagram formed by the Maslov index 0 tropical disks originally observed by Gross (in the case of $X = \mathbb{P}^2$).

On the jumping phenomenon of $\dim_{\mathbb{C}}H^q(\mathcal{X}_t,\mathcal{E}_t)$

Let $X$ be a compact complex manifold and $E$ be a holomorphic vector bundle on $X$. Given a deformation $(\mathcal{X},\mathcal{E})$ of the pair $(X,E)$ over a small polydisk $B$ centered at the origin, we study the jumping phenomenon of the cohomology groups $\dim_{\mathbb{C}}H^q(\mathcal{X}_t,\mathcal{E}_t)$ near $t = 0$. Generalizing previous results of X. Ye for the tangent bundle $E = T_{\mathcal{X}_t}$ and exterior powers of the cotangent bundle $E = Ω^p_{\mathcal{X}_t}$, we show that there are precisely two cohomological obstructions to the stability of $\dim_{\mathbb{C}}H^q(\mathcal{X}_t,\mathcal{E}_t)$, which can be expressed explicitly in terms of the Maurer-Cartan element associated to the deformation $(\mathcal{X},\mathcal{E})$. As an application, we study the jumping phenomenon of the dimension of the cohomology group $H^1(\mathcal{X}_t,\text{End}(T_{\mathcal{X}_t}))$ which is related to a question raised by physicists.

A differential-geometric approach to deformations of pairs $(X,E)$

This article gives an exposition of the deformation theory for pairs $(X, E)$, where $X$ is a compact complex manifold and $E$ is a holomorphic vector bundle over $X$, adapting an analytic viewpoint à la Kodaira-Spencer. By introducing and exploiting an auxiliary differential operator, we derive the Maurer--Cartan equation and differential graded Lie algebra (DGLA) governing the deformation problem, and express them in terms of differential-geometric notions such as the connection and curvature of $E$, obtaining a chain level refinement of the classical results that the tangent space and obstruction space of the moduli problem are respectively given by the first and second cohomology groups of the Atiyah extension of $E$ over $X$. As an application, we give examples where deformations of pairs are unobstructed.

Lagrangian sections on mirrors of toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds

We construct Lagrangian sections of a Lagrangian torus fibration on a 3-dimensional conic bundle, which are SYZ dual to holomorphic line bundles over the mirror toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. We then demonstrate a ring isomorphism between the wrapped Floer cohomology of the zero-section and the regular functions on the mirror toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. Furthermore, we show that in the case when the Calabi-Yau 3-fold is affine space, the zero section generates the wrapped Fukaya category of the mirror conic bundle. This allows us to complete the proof of one direction of homological mirror symmetry for toric Calabi-Yau orbifold quotients of the form $\mathbb{C}^3/\Check{G}$. We finish by describing some elementary applications of our computations to symplectic topology.

Lagrangian Floer superpotentials and crepant resolutions for toric orbifolds

We investigate the relationship between the Lagrangian Floer superpotentials for a toric orbifold and its toric crepant resolutions. More specifically, we study an open string version of the crepant resolution conjecture (CRC) which states that the Lagrangian Floer superpotential of a Gorenstein toric orbifold $\mathcal{X}$ and that of its toric crepant resolution $Y$ coincide after analytic continuation of quantum parameters and a change of variables. Relating this conjecture with the closed CRC, we find that the change of variable formula which appears in closed CRC can be explained by relations between open (orbifold) Gromov-Witten invariants. We also discover a geometric explanation (in terms of virtual counting of stable orbi-discs) for the specialization of quantum parameters to roots of unity which appears in Y. Ruan's original CRC ["The cohomology ring of crepant resolutions of orbifolds", Gromov-Witten theory of spin curves and orbifolds, 117-126, Contemp. Math., 403, Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, RI, 2006]. We prove the open CRC for the weighted projective spaces $\mathcal{X}=\mathbb{P}(1,\ldots,1,n)$ using an equality between open and closed orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants. Along the way, we also prove an open mirror theorem for these toric orbifolds.

Enumerative meaning of mirror maps for toric Calabi-Yau manifolds

We prove that the inverse of a mirror map for a toric Calabi-Yau manifold of the form $K_Y$, where $Y$ is a compact toric Fano manifold, can be expressed in terms of generating functions of genus 0 open Gromov-Witten invariants defined by Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono \cite{FOOO10}. Such a relation between mirror maps and disk counting invariants was first conjectured by Gross and Siebert \cite[Conjecture 0.2 and Remark 5.1]{GS11} as part of their program, and was later formulated in terms of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono's invariants in the toric Calabi-Yau case in \cite[Conjecture 1.1]{CLL12}.

Open Gromov-Witten invariants and superpotentials for semi-Fano toric surfaces

In this paper, we compute the open Gromov-Witten invariants for every compact toric surface X which is semi-Fano (i.e. the anticanonical line bundle is nef). Unlike the Fano case, this involves non-trivial obstructions in the corresponding moduli problem. As a consequence, an explicit formula for the Lagrangian Floer superpotential W is obtained, which in turn gives an explicit presentation of the small quantum cohomology ring of X. We also provide a computational verification of the conjectural ring isomorphism between the small quantum cohomology of X and the Jacobian ring of W.

A formula equating open and closed Gromov-Witten invariants and its applications to mirror symmetry

We prove that open Gromov-Witten invariants for semi-Fano toric manifolds of the form $X=\mathbb{P}(K_Y\oplus\mathcal{O}_Y)$, where $Y$ is a toric Fano manifold, are equal to certain 1-pointed closed Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$. As applications, we compute the mirror superpotentials for these manifolds. In particular, this gives a simple proof for the formula of the mirror superpotential for the Hirzebruch surface $\mathbb{F}_2$.

Homological mirror symmetry for $A_n$-resolutions as a $T$-duality

We study Homological Mirror Symmetry (HMS) for $A_n$-resolutions from the SYZ viewpoint. Let $X\to\bC^2/\bZ_{n+1}$ be the crepant resolution of the $A_n$-singularity. The mirror of $X$ is given by a smoothing $\check{X}$ of $\bC^2/\bZ_{n+1}$. Using SYZ transformations, we construct a geometric functor from a derived Fukaya category of $\check{X}$ to the derived category of coherent sheaves on $X$. We show that this is an equivalence of triangulated categories onto a full triangulated subcategory of $D^b(X)$, thus realizing Kontsevich's HMS conjecture by SYZ.

Holomorphic line bundles on projective toric manifolds from Lagrangian sections of their mirrors by SYZ transformations

The mirror of a projective toric manifold $X_Σ$ is given by a Landau-Ginzburg model $(Y,W)$. We introduce a class of Lagrangian submanifolds in $(Y,W)$ and show that, under the SYZ mirror transformation, they can be transformed to torus-invariant hermitian metrics on holomorphic line bundles over $X_Σ$. Through this geometric correspondence, we also identify the mirrors of Hermitian-Einstein metrics, which are given by distinguished Lagrangian sections whose potentials satisfy certain Laplace-type equations.

The Ooguri-Vafa metric, holomorphic discs and wall-crossing

Recently, Gaiotto, Moore and Neitzke \cite{GMN08} proposed a new construction of hyperkähler metrics. In particular, they gave a new construction of the Ooguri-Vafa metric, in which they came across certain formulas. We interpret those formulas as wall-crossing formulas that appear in the SYZ construction of instanton-corrected mirror manifolds. This reveals the close relation between the Ooguri-Vafa metric and nontrivial holomorphic discs with boundary in special Lagrangian torus fibers.
