$J/ψ$ near $T_c$

We calculate the mass shift and thermal decay width of the $J/ψ$ near the QCD transition temperature $T_c$ by imposing two independent constraints on these variables that can be obtained first by solving the Schrödinger equation and second from the QCD sum rule approach. While the real part of the potential is determined by comparing the QCD sum rule result for charmonium and the D meson to that from the potential model result, the imaginary potential is taken to be proportional to the perturbative form multiplied by a constant factor, which in turn can be determined by applying the two independent constraints. The result shows that the binding energy and the thermal width becomes similar in magnitude at around $T=1.09T_c$, above which the sum rule analysis also becomes unstable, strongly suggesting that the $J/ψ$ will melt slightly above $T_c$.

$K^-p$ Correlation Function from High-Energy Nuclear Collisions and Chiral SU(3) Dynamics

The two-particle momentum correlation function of a K^-p pair from high-energy nuclear collisions is evaluated in the KbarN-piSigma-piLambda coupled-channels framework. The effects of all coupled channels together with the Coulomb potential and the threshold energy difference between K^-p and Kbar0 n are treated completely for the first time. Realistic potentials based on the chiral SU(3) dynamics are used which fit the available scattering data. The recently measured correlation function is found to be well reproduced by allowing variations of the source size and the relative weight of the source function of piSigma with respect to that of KbarN. The predicted K^-p correlation function from larger systems, which is less affected by the piSigma source function, indicates that the investigation of its source size dependence is useful in providing further constraints in the study of the KbarN interaction.

Dynamically Integrated Transport Approach for High-Energy Nuclear Collisions at High Baryon Density

To explore the structure of the QCD phase diagram in high baryon density domain, several high-energy nuclear collision experiments in a wide range of beam energies are currently performed or planned using many accelerator facilities. In these experiments search for a first-order phase transition and the QCD critical point is one of the most important topics. To find the signature of the phase transition, experimental data should be compared to appropriate dynamical models which quantitatively describe the process of the collisions. In this study we develop a new dynamical model on the basis of the non-equilibrium hadronic transport model JAM and 3+1D hydrodynamics. We show that the new model reproduce well the experimental beam-energy dependence of hadron yields and particle ratio by the partial thermalization of the system in our core-corona approach.

Probing $ΩΩ$ and $pΩ$ dibaryons with femtoscopic correlations in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

The momentum correlation functions of baryon pairs, which reflects the baryon-baryon interaction at low energies, are investigated for multi-strangeness pairs ($ΩΩ$ and $NΩ$) produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We calculate the correlation functions based on an expanding source model constrained by single-particle distributions. The interaction potentials are taken from those obtained from recent lattice QCD calculations at nearly physical quark masses. Experimental measurements of these correlation functions for different system sizes will help to disentangle the strong interaction between baryons and to unravel the possible existence of strange dibaryons.

Effects of kinematic cuts on net-electric charge fluctuations

The effects of kinematic cuts on electric charge fluctuations in a gas of charged particles are discussed. We consider a very transparent example of an ideal pion gas with quantum statistics, which can be viewed as a multi-component gas of Boltzmann particles with different charges and masses. Cumulants of net-electric charge fluctuations $χ_n^Q$ are calculated in a static and expanding medium with flow parameters adjusted to the experimental data. We show that the transverse momentum cut, $p_{t_\text{min}}\leq p_t\leq p_{t_\text{max}}$, weakens the effects of Bose statistics, i.e. contributions of effectively multi-charged states to higher order moments. Consequently, cuts in $p_t$ modify the experimentally measured cumulants and their ratios. We discuss the influence of kinematic cuts on the ratio of mean and variance of electric charge fluctuations in a hadron resonance gas, in the light of recent data of the STAR and PHENIX Collaborations. We find that the different momentum cuts of $p_{t_\text{min}}=0.2$~GeV (STAR) and $p_{t_\text{min}}=0.3$~GeV (PHENIX) are responsible for more than 30\% of the difference between these two data sets. We argue that the $p_t$ cuts imposed on charged particles will influence the normalized kurtosis {$κ_Qσ_Q^2 = χ_4^Q/χ_2^Q$} of the electric charge fluctuations. In particular, the reduction of $κ_Qσ_Q^2$ with increasing $p_{t_\text{min}}$ will lead to differences between PHENIX and STAR data of ${\cal O}(6\%)$ which currently are buried under large statistical and systematic errors. We furthermore introduce the relation between momentum cut-off and finite volume effects, which is of relevance for the comparison between experimental data and lattice QCD calculations.

Functional renormalization group analysis of the soft mode at the QCD critical point

We make an intensive investigation of the soft mode at the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) critical point on the basis of the functional renormalization group (FRG) method in the local potential approximation. We calculate the spectral functions $ρ_{σ, π}(ω,\, p)$ in the scalar ($σ$) and pseudoscalar ($π$) channels beyond the random phase approximation in the quark--meson model. At finite baryon chemical potential $μ$ with a finite quark mass, the baryon-number fluctuation is coupled to the scalar channel and the spectral function in the $σ$ channel has a support not only in the time-like ($ω\,>\,p$) but also in the space-like ($ω\,<\, p$) regions, which correspond to the mesonic and the particle--hole phonon excitations, respectively. We find that the energy of the peak position of the latter becomes vanishingly small with the height being enhanced as the system approaches the QCD critical point, which is a manifestation of the fact that the phonon mode is the {\em soft mode} associated with the second-order transition at the QCD critical point, as has been suggested by some authors. Moreover, our extensive calculation of the spectral function in the $(ω, p)$ plane enables us to see that the mesonic and phonon modes have the respective definite dispersion relations $ω_{σ.{\rm ph}}(p)$, and it turns out that $ω_σ(p)$ crosses the light-cone line into the space-like region, and then eventually merges into the phonon mode as the system approaches the critical point more closely. This implies that the sigma-mesonic mode also becomes soft at the critical point. We also provide numerical stability conditions that are necessary for obtaining the accurate effective potential from the flow equation.

Hadron-Hadron Correlation and Interaction from Heavy-Ion Collisions

We investigate the $ΛΛ$ and $K^-p$ intensity correlations in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. First, we examine the dependence of the $ΛΛ$ correlation on the $ΛΛ$ interaction and the $ΛΛ$ pair purity probability $λ$. For small $λ$, the correlation function needs to be suppressed by the $ΛΛ$ interaction in order to explain the recently measured $ΛΛ$ correlation data. By comparison, when we adopt the $λ$ value evaluated from the experimentally measured $Σ^0/Λ$ ratio, the correlation function needs to be enhanced by the interaction. We demonstrate that these two cases correspond to the two analyses which gave opposite signs of the $ΛΛ$ scattering length. Next, we discuss the $K^-p$ correlation function. By using the local $\bar{K}N$ potential which reproduces the kaonic hydrogen data by SIDDHARTA, we obtain the $K^-p$ correlation function. We find that the $K^-p$ correlation can provide a complementary information with the $K^{-}p$ elastic scattering amplitude.

Novel picture of the soft modes at the QCD critical point based on the FRG method

We investigate the soft mode at the QCD critical point (CP) on the basis of the functional renormalization group. We calculate the spectral functions in the meson channels in the two-flavor quark--meson model. Our result shows that the energy of the peak position of the particle--hole mode in the sigma channel becomes vanishingly small as the system approaches the QCD CP, which is a manifestation of the softening of the phonon mode. We also extract the dispersion curves of the mesonic and the phonon mode, a hydrodynamic mode which leads to a finding that the dispersion curve of the sigma-mesonic mode crosses the light-cone into the space-like momentum region, and then eventually merges into the phonon mode as the system approaches further close to the CP. This may suggest that the sigma-mesonic mode forms the soft mode together with the hydrodynamic mode at the CP.

Probing Multi-Strange Dibaryon with Proton-Omega Correlation in High-energy Heavy Ion Collisions

Two-particle intensity correlation between the proton ($p$) and the Omega-baryon ($Ω$) in high-energy heavy ion collisions is studied to unravel the possible spin-2 $pΩ$ dibaryon recently suggested by lattice QCD simulations. The ratio of correlation functions between small and large collision systems, $C_{\rm SL}(Q)$, is proposed to be a new measure to extract the strong $pΩ$ interaction without much contamination from the Coulomb attraction. Relevance of this quantity to the experimental observables in heavy-ion collisions is also discussed.

Spectral functions in functional renormalization group approach -- analysis of the collective soft modes at the QCD critical point --

We first review the method to calculate the spectral functions in the functional renormalization group (FRG) approach, which has been recently developed. We also provide the numerical stability conditions given by the present authors for a generic nonlinear evolution equation that are necessary for obtaining the accurate effective potential from the flow equation in the FRG. As an interesting example, we report the recent calculation of the spectral functions of the mesonic and particle-hole excitations using a chiral effective model of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD); we extract the dispersion relations from them and try to reveal the nature of the soft modes at the QCD critical point (CP) where the phase transition is second order. Our result shows that a clear development and the softening of the phonon mode in the space-like region as the system approaches the CP; furthermore it turns out that the sigma mesonic mode once in the time-like region gets to merge with the phonon mode in the close vicinity of the CP, implying a novel possibility about the nature of the soft mode of the QCD CP.

Three Baryon Interaction Generated by Determinant Interaction of Quarks

We discuss the three-baryon interaction generated by the determinant interaction of quarks, known as the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft (KMT) interaction. The expectation value of the KMT interaction operator is calculated in fully-antisymmetrized quark-cluster model wave functions for one-, two- and three-octet baryon states. The three-baryon potential from the KMT interaction is found to be repulsive for $NNΛ$ and $NΛΛ$ systems, while it is zero for the $NNN$ system. The strength and range of the three-baryon potential are found to be comparable to those for the $NNN$ three-body potential obtained in lattice QCD simulations. The contribution to the $Λ$ single particle potential in nuclear matter is found to be 0.28 MeV and 0.73 MeV in neutron matter and symmetric nuclear matter at normal nuclear density, respectively. These repulsive forces are not enough to solve the hyperon puzzle, but may be measured in high-precision hyperisotope experiments.

Charmonium Spectroscopy in Strong Magnetic Fields by QCD Sum Rules: S-Wave Ground States

We investigate quarkonium mass spectra in external constant magnetic fields by using QCD sum rules. We first discuss a general framework of QCD sum rules necessary for properly extracting meson spectra from current correlators computed in the presence of strong magnetic fields, that is, a consistent treatment of mixing effects caused in the mesonic degrees of freedom. We then implement operator product expansions for pseudoscalar and vector heavy-quark current correlators by taking into account external constant magnetic fields as operators, and obtain mass shifts of the lowest-lying bound states $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ in the static limit with their vanishing spatial momenta. Comparing results from QCD sum rules with those from hadronic effective theories, we find that the dominant origin of mass shifts comes from a mixing between $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ with a longitudinal spin polarization, accompanied by other subdominant effects such as mixing with higher excited states and continua.

Lambda-Lambda interaction from relativistic heavy-ion collisions

We investigate the two-particle intensity correlation function of $Λ$ in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We find that the behavior of the $ΛΛ$ correlation function at small relative momenta is fairly sensitive to the interaction potential and collective flows. By comparing the results of different source functions and potentials, we explore the effect of intrinsic collective motions on the correlation function. We find that the recent STAR data gives a strong constraint on the scattering length and effective range of $ΛΛ$ interaction as, $-1.8 \mathrm{fm}^{-1} < 1/a_0 < -0.8 \mathrm{fm}^{-1}$ and $3.5 \mathrm{fm} < r_\mathrm{eff} < 7 \mathrm{fm}$, respectively,if $Λ$ samples do not include feed-down contribution from long-lived particles. We find that feed-down correction for $Σ^0$ decay reduces the sensitivity of the correlation function to the detail of the $ΛΛ$ interaction. As a result, we obtain a weaker constraint $1/a_0 <-0.8$ fm$^{-1}$. Implication for the signal of existence of $H$-dibaryon is discussed. Comparison with the scattering parameters obtained from the double $Λ$ hypernucleus may reveal in-medium effects in the $ΛΛ$ interaction.

Lambda-Lambda interaction from two-particle intensity correlation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

We investigate $ΛΛ$ interaction dependence of the $ΛΛ$ intensity correlation in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. By analyzing the correlation data recently obtained by the STAR collaboration based on theoretically proposed $ΛΛ$ interactions, we give a constraint on the $ΛΛ$ scattering length, $-1.25~\text{fm} < a_0 < 0$, suggesting that $ΛΛ$ interaction is weakly attractive and there is no loosely bound state. In addition to the fermionic quantum statistics and the $ΛΛ$ interaction, effects of collective flow, feed-down from $Σ^0$, and the residual source are also found to be important to understand the data. We demonstrate that the correlation data favor negative $ΛΛ$ scattering length with the pair purity parameter $λ=(0.67)^2$ evaluated by using experimental data on the $Σ^0/Λ$ ratio, while the positive scattering length could be favored when we regard $λ$ as a free fitting parameter.

Momentum scale dependence of the net quark number fluctuations near chiral crossover

We investigate properties of the net baryon number fluctuations near chiral crossover in a hot and dense medium of strongly interacting quarks. The chirally invariant quark-antiquark interactions are modeled by an effective quark-meson Lagrangian. To preserve remnants of criticality in the O(4) universality class, we apply the functional renormalization group method to describe thermodynamics near chiral crossover. Our studies are focused on the influence of the momentum cuts on the critical behavior of different cumulants of the net quark number fluctuations. We use the momentum scale dependence of the flow equation to examine how the suppression of the momentum modes in the infrared and ultraviolet regime modifies generic properties of fluctuations expected in the O(4) universality class. We show, that the pion mass $m_π$ is a natural soft momentum scale at which cumulants are saturated at their critical values, whereas for scales larger than $2m_π$ the characteristic O(4) structure of the higher order cumulants get lost. These results indicate, that when measuring fluctuations of the net baryon number in heavy ion collisions to search for a partial restoration of chiral symmetry or critical point, a special care have to be made when introducing kinematical cuts on the fluctuation measurements.

Net baryon number fluctuations across the chiral phase transition at finite density in the strong coupling lattice QCD

We investigate the net-baryon number fluctuations across the chiral phase transition at finite density in the strong coupling and chiral limit. Mesonic field fluctuations are taken into account by using the auxiliary field Monte-Carlo method. We find that the higher-order cumulant ratios, $Sσ$ and $κσ^2$, show oscillatory behavior around the phase boundary at $μ/T\gtrsim 0.2$, and there exists the region where the higher-order cumulant ratios are negative. The negative region of $κσ^2$ is found to shrink with increasing lattice size. This behavior agrees with the expectations from the scaling analysis.

Stable Yang-Lee zeros in truncated fugacity series from net-baryon number multiplicity distribution

We investigate Yang-Lee zeros of grand partition functions as truncated fugacity polynomials of which coefficients are given by the canonical partition functions $Z(T,V,N)$ up to $N \leq N_{\text{max}}$. Such a partition function can be inevitably obtained from the net-baryon number multiplicity distribution in relativistic heavy ion collisions, where the number of the event beyond $N_{\text{max}}$ has insufficient statistics, as well as canonical approaches in lattice QCD. We use a chiral random matrix model as a solvable model for chiral phase transition in QCD and show that the closest edge of the distribution to real chemical potential axis is stable against cutting the tail of the multiplicity distribution. The similar behavior is also found in lattice QCD at finite temperature for Roberge-Weiss transition. In contrast, such a stability is found to be absent in the Skellam distribution which does not have phase transition. We compare the number of $N_{\text{max}}$ to obtain the stable Yang-Lee zeros with those of critical higher order cumulants.

Temperature dependence of dimension 6 gluon operators and their effects on Charmonium

Starting from an earlier representation of the independent dimension 6 gluon operators in terms of color electric and magnetic fields, we estimate their changes near the critical temperature $T_c$ using the temperature dependence of the dimension 4 electric and magnetic condensates extracted from pure gauge theory on the lattice. We then improve the previous QCD sum rules for the $J/ψ$ mass near $T_c$ based on dimension 4 operators, by including the contribution of the dimension 6 operators to the OPE. We find an enhanced stability in the sum rule and confirm that the $J/ψ$ will undergo an abrupt change in the property across $T_c$.

QCD sum rules for magnetically induced mixing between $η_c$ and $J/ψ$

We investigate the properties of charmonia in strong magnetic fields by using QCD sum rules. We show how to implement the mixing effects between $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ on the basis of field-theoretical approaches, and then show that the sum rules are saturated by the mixing effects with phenomenologically determined parameters. Consequently, we find that the mixing effects are the dominant contribution to the mass shifts of the charmonia in strong magnetic fields.

Free energy versus internal energy potential for heavy quark systems at finite temperature

Using the QCD sum rule with its operator product expansion reliably estimated from lattice calculations for the pressure and energy density of the quark-gluon plasma, we calculate the strength of the wave function of J/psi at the origin and find that it decreases with temperature above the transition temperature. This result is shown to follow exactly that obtained from the solution of the Schrödingier equation for a charm and anticharm quark pair using the free energy from lattice calculations as the potential and is in sharp contrast to that using the deeper potential associated with the internal energy, which shows an enhanced strength of the J/psi wave function at the origin. Our result thus has resolved the long-standing question of whether the free energy potential or the internal energy potential should be used in analyzing the spectrum of heavy quark systems at finite temperature.

Net baryon number probability distribution near the chiral phase transition

We discuss properties of the net baryon number probability distribution near the chiral phase transition to explore the effect of critical fluctuations. Our studies are performed within Landau theory, where the coefficients of the polynomial potential are parametrized, so as to reproduce the mean-field (MF), the $Z(2)$ and $O(4)$ scaling behaviors of the cumulants of the net baryon number. We show, that in the critical region, the structure of the probability distribution changes, dependently on values of the critical exponents. In the MF approach, as well as in the $Z(2)$ universality class, the contribution of the singular part of the thermodynamic potential tends to broaden the distribution. By contrast, in the model with $O(4)$ scaling, the contribution of the singular part results in a narrower net baryon number probability distribution with a wide tail.

Net quark number probability distribution near the chiral crossover transition

We investigate properties of the probability distribution of the net quark number near the chiral crossover transition in the quark-meson model. The calculations are performed within the functional renormalization group approach, as well as in the mean-field approximation. We find, that there is a substantial influence of the underlying chiral phase transition on the properties of the probability distribution. In particular, for a physical pion mass, the distribution which includes the effect of mesonic fluctuations, differs considerably from both, the mean-field and Skellam distributions. The latter is considered as a reference for a non-critical behavior. A characteristic feature of the net quark number probability distribution is that, in the vicinity of the chiral crossover transition in the O(4) universality class, it is narrower than the corresponding mean-field and Skellam function. We study the volume dependence of the probability distribution, as well as the resulting cumulants, and discuss their approximate scaling properties.

Charmonium mass in hot and dense hadronic matter

We investigate mass shifts of charmonia driven by change of the gluon condensate below but near transition temperatures at finite baryonic chemical potential. Extending previous prescription on the relation between gluon condensates and thermodynamic quantities, we model the gluon condensates of hadronic matter at finite temperature and baryonic chemical potential such that the scalar gluon condensate fits with the latest lattice QCD data. By making use of the QCD sum rule and the second order Stark effect, we find that the smoother transition in the full QCD can lead to moderate mass shifts of charmonia even below the transition temperature. We also find larger mass shift at fixed temperature as chemical potential increases. Existing data on charmonium-charmonium ratio is found to be consistent with the statistical hadronization scenario including the obtained mass shift.

Thermal modification of bottomonium spectra from QCD sum rules with the maximum entropy method

The bottomonium spectral functions at finite temperature are analyzed by employing QCD sum rules with the maximum entropy method. This approach enables us to extract the spectral functions without any phenomenological parametrization, and thus to visualize deformation of the spectral functions due to temperature effects estimated from quenched lattice QCD data. As a result, it is found that Υand η_b survive in hot matter of temperature up to at least 2.3T_c and 2.1T_c, respectively, while χ_{b0} and χ_{b1} will disappear at T<2.5T_c. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the vector channel shows that the spectral function in the region of the lowest peak at T=0 contains contributions from the excited states, Υ(2S) and Υ(3S), as well as the ground states Υ(1S). Our results at finite T are consistent with the picture that the excited states of bottomonia dissociate at lower temperature than that of the ground state. Assuming this picture, we find that Υ(2S) and Υ(3S) disappear at T=1.5-2.0T_c.

Charmonium spectra at finite temperature from QCD sum rules with the maximum entropy method

Charmonia spectral functions at finite temperature are studied using QCD sum rules in combination with the maximum entropy method. This approach enables us to directly obtain the spectral function from the sum rules, without having to introduce any specific assumption about its functional form. As a result, it is found that while J/psi and eta_c manifest themselves as significant peaks in the spectral function below the deconfinement temperature T_c, they quickly dissolve into the continuum and almost completely disappear at temperatures between 1.0 T_c and 1.1 T_c.

Probing deconfinement in a chiral effective model with Polyakov loop at imaginary chemical potential

The phase structure of the two-flavor Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lashinio model is explored at finite temperature and imaginary chemical potential with a particular emphasis on the confinement-deconfinement transition. We point out that the confined phase is characterized by a $\cos3μ_I/T$ dependence of the chiral condensate on the imaginary chemical potential while in the deconfined phase this dependence is given by $\cosμ_I/T$ and accompanied by a cusp structure induced by the Z(3) transition. We demonstrate that the phase structure of the model strongly depends on the choice of the Polyakov loop potential $\mathcal{U}$. Furthermore, we find that by changing the four fermion coupling constant $G_s$, the location of the critical endpoint of the deconfinement transition can be moved into the real chemical potential region. We propose a new parameter characterizing the confinement-deconfinement transition.

Probing deconfinement in the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at imaginary chemical potential

The phase structure of Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model is explored at imaginary chemical potential, with particular emphasis on the deconfinement transition. We point out that the statistical confinement nature of the model naturally leads to characteristic dependence of the chiral condensate $<\bar{q}q>$ on $θ=μ_I/T$. We introduce a dual parameter for the deconfinement transition by making use of this dependence. By changing a four-fermion coupling constant, we tune the location of the critical endpoint of the deconfinement transition.

Role of mesonic fluctuations in the Polyakov loop extended quark-meson model at imaginary chemical potential

We explore the thermodynamics and phase structure of the Polyakov loop-extended two flavor chiral quark--meson (PQM) model beyond the mean-field approximation at imaginary chemical potential. Our approach is based on the functional renormalization group (FRG) method. At finite temperature and imaginary chemical potential, we solve the renormalization group flow equation for a scale-dependent thermodynamic potential in the presence of the gluonic background field. We determine behavior of order parameters of the PQM model in the FRG approach and compute the phase diagram. We compare our FRG results with that obtained in the mean-field approximation at imaginary chemical potential.

Heavy quarkonium correlators at finite temperature: QCD sum rule approach

We investigate the properties of heavy quarkonia at finite temperature in detail using QCD sum rules. Extending previous analyses, we take into account a temperature dependent effective continuum threshold and derive constraints on the mass, the width, and the varying effective continuum threshold. We find that at least one of these quantities of a charmonium changes abruptly in the vicinity of the phase transition. We also calculate the ratio of the imaginary time correlator to its reconstructed one, $G/G_{\text{rec}}$, by constructing a model spectral function and compare it to the corresponding lattice QCD results. We demonstrate that the almost constant unity of $G/G_{\text{rec}}$ can be obtained from the destructive interplay of the changes in each part of the spectral modification which are extracted from QCD sum rules.

Sigma meson in QCD sum rules using a two quark current with derivatives

We study the $σ$ meson in QCD sum rules using a two quark interpolating field with derivatives. In the constituent quark model, the $σ$ meson is composed of a quark and an antiquark in the relative p-wave state and is thus expected to have a larger overlap with an interpolating field that measures the derivative of the relative quark wave-function. While the sum rule with a current without derivatives gives a pole mass of around 1 GeV, the present sum rule with a derivative current gives a mass of around 550 MeV and a width of 400 MeV, that could be identified with the $σ$ meson.

Multiplicity Dependence of Partially Coherent Pion Production in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

We investigate two- and three-particle intensity correlation functions of pions in relativistic heavy ion collisions for different colliding energies. Based on three models of particle production, we analyze the degree to which the pion sources are chaotic in the SPS S+Pb, Pb+Pb and the RHIC Au+Au collisions. The ``chaoticity'', $λ$, of the two-particle correlation functions is corrected for long-lived resonance decays. The effect of the partial Coulomb correction is also examined. Although the partially coherent model gives a result which is consistent with that of STAR, the chaotic fraction does not exhibit clear multiplicity dependence if we take into account both the corrected chaoticity and the weight factor of the three-pion correlation function. The result of the partially-multicoherent model indicates an increasing number of coherent sources in higher multiplicity events.

Source Chaoticity from Two- and Three-Pion Correlations in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ GeV?

We consistently analyze two-pion correlation functions and three-pion correlation functions of 130$A$ GeV Au+Au collisions measured at RHIC, applying three models of partially coherent pion sources. The effect of long-lived resonances on the chaoticity in the two-pion correlation function is estimated on the basis of a statistical model. We find that the chaoticity extracted from the three-pion correlation function is consistent with that extracted from the two-pion correlation function at vanishing relative momenta after the subtraction of the contribution of the long-lived resonance decays. All three models indicate that pions are emitted from the mixture of a chaotic source and coherent sources in the 130$A$ GeV Au+Au collisions.

Hydrodynamical analysis of hadronic spectra in the 130 GeV/nucleon Au+Au collisions

We study one-particle spectra and a two-particle correlation function in the 130 GeV/nucleon Au+Au collisions at RHIC by making use of a hydrodynamical model. We calculate the one-particle hadronic spectra and present the first analysis of Bose-Einstein correlation functions based on the numerical solution of the hydrodynamical equations which takes both longitudinal and transverse expansion into account appropriately. The hydrodynamical model provides excellent agreement with the experimental data in the pseudorapidity and the transverse momentum spectra of charged hadrons, the rapidity dependence of anti-proton to proton ratio, and almost consistent result for the pion Bose-Einstein correlation functions. Our numerical solution with simple freeze-out picture suggests the formation of the quark-gluon plasma with large volume and low net-baryon density.

Two-particle correlation from a relativistic fluid with a first order phase transition

We numerically calculate two-particle correlation functions of CERN-SPS 158 A GeV Pb+Pb central collisions based on a (3+1)-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamics with a first order phase transition. We analyze the pair momentum dependence of pion source sizes extracted from the Yano-Koonin-Podgoretski\uı (YKP) parametrization which is expected to give the source sizes directly.
