TRAM: A Transverse Relaxation Time-Aware Qubit Mapping Algorithm for NISQ Devices

Noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices impose dual challenges on quantum circuit execution: limited qubit connectivity requires extensive SWAP-gate routing, while time-dependent decoherence progressively degrades quantum information. Existing qubit mapping algorithms optimize for hardware topology and static calibration metrics but systematically neglect transverse relaxation dynamics (T2), creating a fundamental gap between compiler decisions and evolving noise characteristics. We present TRAM (Transverse Relaxation Time-Aware Qubit Mapping), a coherence-guided compilation framework that elevates decoherence mitigation to a primary optimization objective. TRAM integrates calibration-informed community detection to construct noise-resilient qubit partitions, generates time-weighted initial mappings that anticipate coherence decay, and dynamically schedules SWAP operations to minimize cumulative error accumulation. Evaluated on Qiskit-based simulators with realistic noise models, TRAM outperforms SABRE by 3.59% in fidelity, reduces gate count by 11.49%, and shortens circuit depth by 12.28%, establishing coherence-aware optimization as essential for practical quantum compilation in the NISQ era.

A computable multipartite multimode Gaussian correlation measure and the monogamy relation for continuous-variable systems

In this paper, a computable multipartite multimode Gaussian quantum correlation measure ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is proposed for any $k$-partite continuous-variable (CV) systems with $k\geq 2$. ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ depends only on the covariance matrix of CV states, is invariant under any permutation of subsystems, is a quantification without ancilla problem, nonincreasing under $k$-partite local Gaussian channels (particularly, invariant under $k$-partite local Gaussian unitary operations), vanishes on $k$-partite product states. For a $k$-partite Gaussian state $ρ$, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}(ρ)=0$ if and only if $ρ$ is a $k$-partite product state. Thus, for the bipartite case, ${\mathcal M}={\mathcal M}^{(2)}$ is an accessible replacement of the Gaussian quantum discord and Gaussian geometric discord. Moreover, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ satisfies the unification condition, hierarchy condition that a multipartite quantum correlation measure should obey. ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is not bipartite like monogamous, but, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is complete monogamous and tight complete monogamous.

Approximate separation of quantum gates and separation experiments of CNOT based on Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm

Ying conceived of using two or more small-capacity quantum computers to produce a larger-capacity quantum computing system by quantum parallel programming ([M. S. Ying, Morgan-Kaufmann, 2016]). In doing so, the main obstacle is separating the quantum gates in the whole circuit to produce a tensor product of the local gates. It has been showed that there are few separable multipartite quantum gates, so the approximate separation problem involves finding local quantum gates that approximate a given inseparable gate. We propose and study a problem involving the approximate separation of multipartite gates based on quantum-gate fidelity. For given multipartite and local gates, we conclude that the smaller is the maximal distance between the products of an arbitrary pair of eigenvalues, the greater is their gate fidelity. This provides a criterion for approximate separation. Lastly, we discuss the optimal approximate separation of the CNOT gate.

Multiplicative Lie derivation of triangular 3-matrix rings

A map $ϕ$ on an associative ring is called a multiplicative Lie derivation if $ϕ([x,y])=[ϕ(x),y]+[x,ϕ(y)]$ holds for any elements $x,y$, where $[x,y]=xy-yx$ is the Lie product. In the paper, we discuss the multiplicative Lie derivations on the triangular 3-matrix rings $\mathcal T={\mathcal T}_3(\mathcal R_i; \mathcal M_{ij})$. Under the standard assumption $Q_i\mathcal Z(\mathcal T)Q_i=\mathcal Z(Q_i\mathcal T Q_i)$, $i=1,2,3$, we show that every multiplicative Lie derivation $φ:\mathcal T\to\mathcal T$ has the standard form $φ=δ+γ$ with $δ$ a derivation and $γ$ a center valued map vanishing each commutator.

Strong $3$-Commutativity Preserving Maps on Standard Operator Algebras

Let $X$ be a Banach space of dimension $\geq 2$ over the real or complex field ${\mathbb F}$ and ${\mathcal A}$ a standard operator algebra in ${\mathcal B}(X)$. A map $Φ:{\mathcal A} \rightarrow {\mathcal A}$ is said to be strong $3$-commutativity preserving if $[Φ(A),Φ(B)]_3 = [A,B]_3$ for all $A, B\in{\mathcal A}$, where $[A,B]_3$ is the 3-commutator of $A,B$ defined by $[A,B]_3=[[[A,B],B],B]$. The main result in this paper is shown that, if $Φ$ is a surjective map on ${\mathcal A}$, then $Φ$ is strong $3$-commutativity preserving if and only if there exist a functional $h :{\mathcal A} \rightarrow {\mathbb F}$ and a scalar $λ\in{\mathbb F}$ with $λ^4 = 1$ such that $Φ(A) = λA + h(A)I$ for all $A \in{\mathcal A}$.

Strong $k$-commutativity preserving maps on 2$\times$2 matrices

Let ${\mathcal M}_2(\mathbb F)$ be the algebra of 2$\times$2 matrices over the real or complex field $\mathbb F$. For a given positive integer $k\geq 1$, the $k$-commutator of $A$ and $B$ is defined by $[A,B]_k=[[A,B]_{k-1},B]$ with $[A,B]_0=A$ and $[A,B]_1=[A,B]=AB-BA$. The main result is shown that a map $Φ: {\mathcal M}_2(\mathbb F)\to {\mathcal M}_2(\mathbb F)$ with range containing all rank one matrices satisfies that $[Φ(A),Φ(B)]_k = [A,B]_k $ for all $A, B\in{\mathcal M}_2(\mathbb F)$ if and only if there exist a functional $h :{\mathcal M}_2(\mathbb F) \rightarrow {\mathbb F}$ and a scalar $λ\in{\mathbb F}$ with $λ^{k+1} = 1$ such that $Φ(A) = λA + h(A)I$ for all $A \in{\mathcal M}_2(\mathbb F)$.

Uncertainty relations for any multi observables

Uncertainty relations describe the lower bound of product of standard deviations of observables. By revealing a connection between standard deviations of quantum observables and numerical radius of operators, we establish a universal uncertainty relation for any $k$ observables, of which the formulation depends on the even or odd quality of $k$. This universal uncertainty relation is tight at least for the cases $k=2n$ and $k=3$. For two observables, the uncertainty relation is exactly a simpler reformulation of Schrödinger's uncertainty principle.

Lie ring isomorphisms between nest algebras on Banach spaces

Let ${\mathcal N}$ and ${\mathcal M}$ be nests on Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$ over the (real or complex) field $\mathbb F$ and let $\mbox{\rm Alg}{\mathcal N}$ and $\mbox{\rm Alg}{\mathcal M}$ be the associated nest algebras, respectively. It is shown that a map $Φ:{\rm Alg}{\mathcal N}\rightarrow{\rm Alg}{\mathcal M}$ is a Lie ring isomorphism (i.e., $Φ$ is additive, Lie multiplicative and bijective) if and only if $Φ$ has the form $Φ(A) = TAT^{-1} + h(A)I$ for all $A\in \mbox{\rm Alg}{\mathcal N}$ or $Φ(A)=-TA^*T^{-1}+h(A)I$ for all $A\in \mbox{\rm Alg}{\mathcal N}$, where $h$ is an additive functional vanishing on all commutators and $T$ is an invertible bounded linear or conjugate linear operator when $\dim X=\infty$; $T$ is a bijective $τ$-linear transformation for some field automorphism $τ$ of $\mathbb F$ when $\dim X<\infty$.

Let $X_1$ and $X_2$ be complex Banach spaces with dimension at least three, $\mathcal{A}_1$ and $\mathcal{A}_2$ be standard operator algebras on $X_1$ and $X_2$, respectively. For $k\geq2$, let $(i_1,...,i_m)$ be a sequence with terms chosen from $\{1,\ldots,k\}$ and assume that at least one of the terms in $(i_1,\ldots,i_m)$ appears exactly once. Define the generalized Jordan product $T_1\circ T_2\circ\cdots\circ T_k=T_{i_1} T_{i_2}\cdots T_{i_m}+T_{i_m}\cdots T_{i_2} T_{i_1}$ on elements in $\mathcal{A}_i$. This includes the usual Jordan product $A_1A_2+A_2A_1$, and the Jordan triple $A_1A_2A_3+A_3A_2A_1$. Let $Φ:\mathcal{A}_1\rightarrow\mathcal{A}_2$ be a map with range containing all operators of rank at most three. It is shown that $Φ$ satisfies that $σ_π(Φ(A_1)\circ\cdots\circΦ(A_k))=σ_π(A_1\circ\cdots\circ A_k)$ for all $A_1, \ldots, A_k$, where $σ_π(A)$ stands for the peripheral spectrum of $A$, if and only if $Φ$ is a Jordan isomorphism multiplied by an $m$th root of unity.

Characterizing derivations for any nest algebras on Banach spaces by their behaviors at an injective operator

Let ${\mathcal N}$ be a nest on a complex Banach space $X$ and let $\mbox{ Alg}{\mathcal N}$ be the associated nest algebra. We say that an operator $Z\in \mbox{ Alg}{\mathcal N}$ is an all-derivable point of $\mbox{ Alg}{\mathcal N}$ if every linear map $δ$ from $\mbox{ Alg}{\mathcal N}$ into itself derivable at $Z$ (i.e. $δ$ satisfies $δ(A)B+Aδ(B)=δ(Z)$ for any $A,B \in \mbox{ Alg}{\mathcal N}$ with $AB=Z$) is a derivation. In this paper, it is shown that every injective operator and every operator with dense range in $\mbox{Alg}{\mathcal N}$ are all-derivable points of $\mbox{Alg}{\mathcal N}$ without any additional assumption on the nest.

Criteria of positivity for linear maps constructed from permutation pairs

In this paper, we show that a $D$-type map $Φ_D:M_n\rightarrow M_n$ with $D=(n-2)I_n+P_{π_1}+P_{π_2}$ induced by a pair $\{π_1,π_2\}$ of permutations of $(1,2,..., n)$ is positive if $\{π_1,π_2\}$ has property (C). The property (C) is characterized for $\{π_1,π_2\}$, and an easy criterion is given for the case that $π_1=π^p$ and $π_2=π^q$, where $π$ is the permutation defined by $π(i)=i+1$ mod $n$ and $1\leq p<q\leq n$.

Maps preserving peripheral spectrum of generalized products of operators

Let $\mathcal{A}_1$ and $\mathcal{A}_2$ be standard operator algebras on complex Banach spaces $X_1$ and $X_2$, respectively. For $k\geq2$, let $(i_1,...,i_m)$ be a sequence with terms chosen from $\{1,\ldots,k\}$, and assume that at least one of the terms in $(i_1,\ldots,i_m)$ appears exactly once. Define the generalized product $T_1* T_2*\cdots* T_k=T_{i_1}T_{i_2}\cdots T_{i_m}$ on elements in $\mathcal{A}_i$. Let $Φ:\mathcal{A}_1\rightarrow\mathcal{A}_2$ be a map with the range containing all operators of rank at most two. We show that $Φ$ satisfies that $σ_π(Φ(A_1)*\cdots*Φ(A_k))=σ_π(A_1*\cdots* A_k)$ for all $A_1,\ldots, A_k$, where $σ_π(A)$ stands for the peripheral spectrum of $A$, if and only if $Φ$ is an isomorphism or an anti-isomorphism multiplied by an $m$th root of unity, and the latter case occurs only if the generalized product is quasi-semi Jordan. If $X_1=H$ and $X_2=K$ are complex Hilbert spaces, we characterize also maps preserving the peripheral spectrum of the skew generalized products, and prove that such maps are of the form $A\mapsto cUAU^*$ or $A\mapsto cUA^tU^*$, where $U\in\mathcal{B}(H,K)$ is a unitary operator, $c\in\{1,-1\}$.

Optimality of a class of entanglement witnesses for $3\otimes 3$ systems

Let $Φ_{t,π}: M_3({\mathbb C}) \rightarrow M_3({\mathbb C})$ be a linear map defined by $Φ_{t,π}(A)=(3-t)\sum_{i=1}^3E_{ii}AE_{ii}+t\sum_{i=1}^3E_{i,π(i)}AE_{i,π(i)}^†-A$, where $0\leq t\leq 3$ and $π$ is a permutation of $(1,2,3)$. We show that the Hermitian matrix $W_{Φ_{t,π}}$ induced by $Φ_{t,π}$ is an optimal entanglement witness if and only if $t=1$ and $π$ is cyclic.

Quantum measurements and maps preserving strict convex combinations and pure states

In this paper, a characterization of maps between quantum states that preserve pure states and strict convex combinations is obtained. Based on this characterization, a structural theorem for maps between multipartite quantum states that preserve separable pure states and strict convex combinations is established. Then these results are applied to characterize injective (local) quantum measurements and answer some conjectures proposed in [J.Phys.A:Math.Theor. 45 (2012) 205305].

Concurrence for infinite-dimensional quantum systems

Concurrence is an important entanglement measure for states in finite-dimensional quantum systems that was explored intensively in the last decade. In this paper, we extend the concept of concurrence to infinite-dimensional bipartite systems and show that it is continuous and does not increase under local operation and classical communication (LOCC). Moreover, based on the partial Hermitian conjugate (PHC) criterion proposed in [Chin. Phys. Lett. \textbf{26}, 060305(2009); Chin. Sci. Bull. \textbf{56}(9), 840--846(2011)], we introduce a concept of the PHC measure and show that it coincides with the concurrence, which provides another perspective on the concurrence.

Detecting quantum correlations by means of local noncommutativity

Quantum correlation is a key to our understanding of quantum physics. In particular, it is essential for the powerful applications to quantum information and quantum computation. There exist quantum correlations beyond entanglement, such as quantum discord (QD) and measurement-induced nonlocality (MiN) [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{106}, 120401(2011)]. In [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{77}, 022113(2008)], a subclass of PPT states so-called strong positive partial transposition (SPPT) states was introduced and it was conjectured there that SPPT states are separable. However, it was illustrated with examples in [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{81}, 064101(2010)] that this conjecture is not true. Viewing the original SPPT as SPPT up to part B, in the present paper, we define SPPT state up to part A and B respectively and present a separable class of SPPT states, that is the super SPPT (SSPPT) states, in terms of local commutativity. In addition, classical-quantum (CQ) states and nullity of MiN are characterized via local commutativity. Based on CQ states, the geometric measure of quantum discord (GMQD) for infinite-dimensional case is proposed. Consequently, we highlight the relation among MiN, QD(GMQD), SSPPT and separability through a unified approach for both finite- and infinite-dimensional systems: zero MiN implies zero QD(GMQD), zero QD(GMQD) signals SSPPT and SSPPT guarantees separability, but the converses are not valid.

Necessary and sufficient conditions for local creation of quantum discord

We show that a local channel cannot create quantum discord (QD) for zero QD states of size $d\geq3$ if and only if either it is a completely decohering channel or it is a nontrivial isotropic channel. For the qubit case this propertiy is additionally characteristic to the completely decohering channel or the commutativity-preserving unital channel. In particular, the exact forms of the completely decohering channel and the commutativity-preserving unital qubit channel are proposed. Consequently, our results confirm and improve the conjecture proposed by X. Hu et al. for the case of $d\geq3$ and improve the result proposed by A. Streltsov et al. for the qubit case. Furthermore, it is shown that a local channel nullifies QD in any state if and only if it is a completely decohering channel. Based on our results, some protocols of quantum information processing issues associated with QD, especially for the qubit case, would be experimentally accessible.

Strong skew commutativity preserving maps on von Neumann algebras

Let ${\mathcal M}$ be a von Neumann algebra without central summands of type $I_1$. Assume that $Φ:{\mathcal M}\rightarrow {\mathcal M}$ is a surjective map. It is shown that $Φ$ is strong skew commutativity preserving (that is, satisfies $Φ(A)Φ(B)-Φ(B)Φ(A)^*=AB-BA^*$ for all $A,B\in{\mathcal M}$) if and only if there exists some self-adjoint element $Z$ in the center of ${\mathcal M}$ with $Z^2=I$ such that $Φ(A)=ZA$ for all $A\in{\mathcal M}$. The strong skew commutativity preserving maps on prime involution rings and prime involution algebras are also characterized.

A characterization of optimal entanglement witnesses

In this paper, we present a characterization of optimal entanglement witnesses in terms of positive maps and then provide a general method of checking optimality of entanglement witnesses. Applying it, we obtain new indecomposable optimal witnesses which have no spanning property. These also provide new examples which support a recent conjecture saying that the so-called structural physical approximations to optimal positive maps (optimal entanglement witnesses) give entanglement breaking maps (separable states).

"Maps preserving the spectrum of generalized Jordan product of operators", and its "Addendum"

In the paper "Maps preserving the spectrum of generalized Jordan product of operators", we define a generalized Jordan products on standard operator algebras $A_1, A_2$ on complex Banach spaces $X_1, X_2$, respectively. This includes the usual Jordan product $A_1 \circ A_2 = A_1 A_2 + A_2 A_1$, and the triple $\{A_1,A_2,A_3\} = A_1 A_2 A_3 + A_3 A_2 A_1$. Let a map $Φ: A_1 \to A_2$ prserving the spectra of the products $$ σ(Φ(A_1) \circ ... \circ Φ(A_k)) = σ(A_1\circ ... \circ A_k) $$ whenever any one of $A_1, ..., A_k$ has rank at most one. It is shown in this paper that if the range of $Φ$ contains all operators of rank at most three, then $Φ$ must be a Jordan isomorphism multiplied by an $m$th root of unity. Similar results for maps between self-adjoint operators acting on Hilbert spaces are also obtained. After our paper "Maps preserving the spectrum of generalized Jordan product of operators" was published in Linear Algebra Appl. 432 (2010), 1049-1069, Jianlian Cui pointed out that some arguments in the proof of Theorem 3.1 are not entirely clear and accurate. Here we supply some details in the "Addendum".

A characterization of positive linear maps and criteria of entanglement for quantum states

Let $H$ and $K$ be (finite or infinite dimensional) complex Hilbert spaces. A characterization of positive completely bounded normal linear maps from ${\mathcal B}(H)$ into ${\mathcal B}(K)$ is given, which particularly gives a characterization of positive elementary operators including all positive linear maps between matrix algebras. This characterization is then applied give a representation of quantum channels (operations) between infinite-dimensional systems. A necessary and sufficient criterion of separability is give which shows that a state $ρ$ on $H\otimes K$ is separable if and only if $(Φ\otimes I)ρ\geq 0$ for all positive finite rank elementary operators $Φ$. Examples of NCP and indecomposable positive linear maps are given and are used to recognize some entangled states that cannot be recognized by the PPT criterion and the realignment criterion.

Additive Lie ($ξ$-Lie) Derivations and Generalized Lie ($ξ$-Lie) Derivations on Prime Algebras

The additive (generalized) $ξ$-Lie derivations on prime algebras are characterized. It is shown, under some suitable assumption, that an additive map $L$ is an additive (generalized) Lie derivation if and only if it is the sum of an additive (generalized) derivation and an additive map from the algebra into its center vanishing all commutators; is an additive (generalized) $ξ$-Lie derivation with $ξ\not=1$ if and only if it is an additive (generalized) derivation satisfying $L(ξA)=ξL(A)$ for all $A$. These results are then used to characterize additive (generalized) $ξ$-Lie derivations on several operator algebras such as Banach space standard operator algebras and von Neumman algebras.

Constructing entanglement witnesses for infinite-dimensional systems

It is shown that, every entangled state in an infinite-dimensional composite system has a simple entanglement witness of the form $αI+T$ with $α$ a nonnegative number and $T$ a finite rank self-adjoint operator. Positive finite rank elementary operators and characterizing entanglement of states

In this paper, a class of indecomposable positive finite rank elementary operators of order $(n,n)$ are constructed. This allows us to give a simple necessary and sufficient criterion for separability of pure states in bipartite systems of any dimension in terms of positive elementary operators of order $(2,2)$ and get some new mixed entangled states that can not be detected by the positive partial transpose (PPT) criterion and the realignment criterion.

The RCCN criterion of separability for states in infinite-dimensional quantum systems

In this paper, the realignment criterion and the RCCN criterion of separability for states in infinite-dimensional bipartite quantum systems are established. Let $H_A$ and $H_B$ be complex Hilbert spaces with $\dim H_A\otimes H_B=+\infty$. Let $ρ$ be a state on $H_A\otimes H_B$ and $\{δ_k\}$ be the Schmidt coefficients of $ρ$ as a vector in the Hilbert space ${\mathcal C}_2(H_A)\otimes{\mathcal C}_2(H_B)$. We introduce the realignment operation $ρ^R$ and the computable cross norm $\|ρ\|_{\rm CCN}$ of $ρ$ and show that, if $ρ$ is separable, then $\|ρ^{R}\|_{\rm Tr}=\|ρ\|_{\rm CCN}=\sum\limits_kδ_k\leq1.$ In particular, if $ρ$ is a pure state, then $ρ$ is separable if and only if $\|ρ^{R}\|_{\rm Tr}=\|ρ\|_{\rm CCN}=\sum\limits_kδ_k=1$.

When different entanglement witnesses detect entangled states simultaneously

The question under what conditions different witnesses may detect some entangled states simultaneously is answered for both finite- and infinite-dimensional bipartite systems. Finite many different witnesses can detect some entangled states simultaneously if and only if their convex combinations are still witnesses; they can not detect any entangled state simultaneously if and only if the set of their convex combinations contains a positive operator. For two witnesses $W_1$ and $W_2$, some more can be said: (1) $W_1$ and $W_2$ can detect the same set of entangled states if and only if they are linearly dependent; (2) $W_2$ can detect more entangled states than that $W_1$ can if and only if $W_1$ is a linear combination of $W_2$ and a positive operator. As an application, some characterizations of the optimal witnesses are given and some structure properties of the decomposable optimal witnesses are presented.
