$SU(4)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_R$ models with modular $A_4$ symmetry

We study $SU(4)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_R$ models with modular $A_4$ symmetry that provide unified description of the quark and lepton sector including the flavor structures. The models are distinguished by the assignments of the modular weight on matter superfields. We carry out numerical $χ^2$ analysis and search for parameter sets that accomodate the experimental results. We provide a benchmark point for each model to illustrate implications of our models.

A multi-charged particle model with local $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ to explain muon $g-2$, flavor physics, and possible collider signature

We consider a model with multi-charged particles including vector-like fermions and a charged scalar under a local $U(1)_{μ- τ}$ symmetry. We search for allowed parameter region explaining muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon $g-2$) and $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies, satisfying constraints from the lepton flavor violations, $Z$ boson decays, meson anti-meson mixing and collider experiments. Carrying out numerical analysis, we explore the typical size of the muon $g-2$ and Wilson coefficients to explain $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies in our model when all other experimental constraints are satisfied. We then discuss the collider physics of the multicharged vectorlike fermions, considering some benchmark points in the allowed parameter space.

A radiative seesaw model in a supersymmetric modular $A_4$ group

We propose a supersymmetric radiative seesaw model with modular $A_4$ symmetry. Thanks to contributions of supersymmetric partners to one-loop diagrams generating neutrino masses, we successfully fit neutrino data and obtain predictions in case of normal hierarchy in a minimal framework that would not be realized in a non-supersymmetric model. We show a several predictive figures and demonstrate a best fit benchmark point through $χ^2$

A radiatively induced inverse seesaw model with hidden $U(1)$ gauge symmetry

We propose an inverse seesaw scenario under hidden $U(1)$ gauge symmetry, having rather natural hierarchies among neutral fermion mass scales. The hierarchies are derived from theory and experimental constraints. The theory requires Majorana exotic masses have to be induced at one-loop level. The experimental side requests that the Dirac mass terms has to be highly suppressed to satisfy the constraints from the lepton flavor violations(LFVs) such as $μ\to eγ$. In order to induce such a small Majorana exotic masses we introduce exotic fermions and bosons that also provide us additional intriguing phenomenologies such as muon anomalous magnetic moment, dark matter candidate as well as LFVs and deviations in leptonic $Z$ decays. We analyze these phenomenologies including neutrino oscillation data numerically, and show allowed region. Finally, we discuss the DM candidate in both the cases of fermion and scalar boson, where we focus on rather lighter range that is equal or less than 10 GeV. The dominant contributions originate from interactions of hidden gauge sector, and we show allowed ranges for both cases.

Natural mass hierarchy among three heavy Majorana neutrinos for resonant leptogenesis under modular $A_4$ symmetry

It is clear that matter is dominant in the Universe compared to antimatter. We call this problem baryon asymmetry. The baryon asymmetry is experimentally determined by both cosmic microwave background and big bang nucleosynthesis measurements. To resolve the baryon number asymmetry of the Universe as well as neutrino oscillations, we study a radiative seesaw model in a modular $A_4$ symmetry. Degenerate heavy Majorana neutrino masses can be naturally realized in an appropriate assignments under modular $A_4$ with large imaginary part of modulus $τ$, and it can induce measured baryon number via resonant leptogenesis that is valid in around TeV scale energy theory. We also find that the dominant contribution to the CP asymmetry arises from Re[$τ$] through our numerical analysis satisfying the neutrino oscillation data.

Residual flavor symmetry breaking in the landscape of modular flavor models

We study a symmetry breaking of residual flavor symmetries realized at fixed points of the moduli space. In the supersymmetric modular invariant theories, a small departure of the modulus from fixed points is required to realize fermion mass hierarchies and sizable CP-breaking effects. We investigate whether one can dynamically fix the moduli values in the vicinity of the fixed points in the context of Type IIB string theory. It is found that the string landscape prefers $|δτ| \simeq 10^{-5}$ for the deviation of the complex structure modulus from all fixed points and the CP-breaking vacuum is statistically favored. To illustrate phenomenological implications of distributions of moduli values around fixed points, we analyze the lepton sector on a concrete $A_4$ modular flavor model.

A linear seesaw model with $A_4$-modular flavor and local $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetries

We discuss a linear seesaw model with local $U(1)_{B-L}$ and modular $A_4$ symmetries. The neutrino mass matrix for linear seesaw mechanism is realized by $U(1)_{B-L}$ charge assignment and the nature of modular $A_4$ symmetry. We formulate neutrino mass and carry our numerical analysis showing some predictions for observables in neutrino sector. Remarkably, the case of inverted neutrino mass ordering (IO) is realized by a specific region around $τ=ω=e^{2πi/3}$, which is favored by a string theory. Thus, our prediction would be very strong in case of IO.

A Radiative Neutrino Mass Model in Dark Non-Abelian Gauge Symmetry

We discuss a model based on dark sector described by non-Abelian $SU(2)_D$ gauge symmetry where we introduce $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_D$ bi-doublet vector-like leptons to generate active neutrino masses and kinetic mixing between $SU(2)_D$ and $U(1)_Y$ gauge fields at one-loop level. After spontaneous symmetry breaking of $SU(2)_D$, we have remnant $Z_4$ symmetry guaranteeing stability of dark matter candidates. We formulate neutrino mass matrix and related lepton flavor violating processes and discus dark matter physics estimating relic density. It is found that our model realize multicomponent dark matter scenario due to the $Z_4$ symmetry and relic density can be explained by gauge interactions with kinetic mixing effect.

A radiatively induced neutrino mass model with hidden local $U(1)$ and LFV processes $\ell_i \to \ell_j γ$, $μ\to e Z'$ and $μe \to e e$

We investigate a model based on hidden $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry in which neutrino mass is induced at one-loop level by effects of interactions among particles in hidden sector and the Standard Model leptons. Neutrino mass generation is also associated with $U(1)_X$ breaking scale which is taken to be low to suppress neutrino mass. Then we formulate neutrino mass matrix, lepton flavor violating processes and muon $g-2$ which are induced via interactions among Standard Model leptons and particles in $U(1)_X$ hidden sector that can be sizable in our scenario. Carrying our numerical analysis, we show expected ratios for these processes when generated neutrino mass matrix can fit the neutrino data.

A two loop induced neutrino mass model with modular $A_4$ symmetry

We propose a model with radiatively induced neutrino mass at two-loop level, applying modular $A_4$ symmetry. The neutrino mass matrix is formulated where the structure of associated couplings are restricted by the symmetry. Then we show several predictions in the lepton sector, satisfying lepton flavor violations as well as neutrino oscillation data. We also discuss muon anomalous magnetic moment and briefly comment on dark matter candidate.

Inverse seesaw and $(g-2)$ anomalies in $B-L$ extended two Higgs doublet model

We propose a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ extended two Higgs doublet model to explain both neutrino mass and lepton anomalous magnetic moments ($g-2$). Neutrino mass is generated via an inverse seesaw mechanism by introducing singlet fermions. Especially, we update the result of muon $g-2$ in light of the very recent report by E989 experiment at Fermilab, indicating $a_μ^{\rm FNAL}=116592040(54)\times 10^{-11}$. Combining BNL result, we have the following deviation from the standard model prediction $Δa_μ=(2.51\pm 5.9)\times10^{-10}$ at 4.2 $σ$. Thanks to an appropriate assignment for $U(1)_{B-L}\times Z_2$ symmetry and larger $(20\lesssim)\tanβ$ that is favoured by type-X model, we realize natural hierarchies among neutral fermions. The lepton anomalous magnetic moments can be induced at the one loop level by introducing an iso-spin singlet singly-charged boson. This charged scalar plays a significant role in evading chiral suppression of these phenomenologies. We show sizable lepton ($g-2$) can be obtained after satisfying all the flavour constraints, such as $μ\to eγ$ and flavour conserving leptonic $Z$ boson decays.

Linear seesaw model with a modular $S_4$ flavor symmetry

We discuss a linear seesaw model with as minimum field content as possible, introducing a modular $S_4$ with the help of gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetries. Due to rank two neutrino mass matrix, we have a vanishing neutrino mass eigenvalue, and only the normal mass hierarchy of neutrinos is favored through the modular $S_4$ symmetry. In our numerical $Δχ^2$ analysis, we especially find rather sharp prediction on sum of neutrino masses to be around $60$ meV in addition to the other predictions.

Muon $g-2$, $B\to K^{(*)}μ^+ μ^-$ anomalies, and leptophilic dark matter in $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ gauge symmetry

We propose a new class of $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ gauged model that can explain recent flavor anomalies such as muon $g-2$, $b\to sμ^+ μ^-$, as well as include a scalar dark matter candidate while satisfying all the phenomenological constraints. For this purpose, we add new vectorlike quarks and leptons as well as two inert singlet scalars, one leptophilic and the other leptophobic. In our model $b\to sμ^+ μ^-$ anomalies can be explained by loop induced interactions among the SM and exotic quarks and $Z'$ gauge boson. In our numerical analysis, we show allowed region of our model to be narrow, and it would be tested soon, for example by searching for 4 muons and dimuon + missing transverse momentum from $pp \to μ^+ μ^- Z'$ and $pp \to ν_{μ,τ} \bar ν_{μ,τ} Z'$ followed by $Z' \to μ^+ μ^- , ν_{μ,τ} \bar ν_{μ,τ} $ at the LHC.

Zee-Babu model in modular $A_4$ symmetry

We study a Zee-Babu model in a modular $A_4$ flavor symmetry, in which we search for several predictions such as phases, sum of neutrino masses, and neutrinoless double beta decay, satisfying neutrino oscillation data in a minimum framework of the charge assignments of modular weight. We perform $Δχ^2$ analysis to get our results and find $τ$ is localized nearby at one of the fixed points of $i\times \infty$ for both of normal and inverted mass hierarchies.

A modular $A_4$ symmetric scotogenic model

We propose a minimal extention of the Standard Model where neutrino masses are generated radiatively at one-loop level via Scotogenic scanario. The model is augmented with $A_4$ modular symmetry as a scotogenic and flavor symmetry. With minimal number of parameters, the model makes predictions for neutrino oscillation data, Majorana and Dirac phases, dark matter characteristics, and neutrinoless double beta decay.

Axion and neutrino mass from a hidden gauge symmetry model

We propose a model of dark sector described by gauged hidden $U(1)_H$ symmetry in which neutrino masses are generated at one-loop level and axion is induced by assigning Peccei-Quinn charge to fermions in dark sector relevantly. Then our scenario connects exotic fermion mass generation, neutrino mass matrix and axion through scalar fields associated with $U(1)_H$ and Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking. We investigate neutrino mass formula, lepton flavor violation, anomalous magnetic moment of muon, dark matter relic density and axion couplings, which are originated from interactions among our dark sector and the standard model particles.

Modular $A_4$ symmetric inverse seesaw model with $SU(2)_L$ multiplet fields

We propose an inverse seesaw model with large $SU(2)_L$ multiplets applying modular $A_4$ symmetry where $SU(2)_L$ quartet and septet fermions are introduced as triplets under the symmetry. The neutral components of the quartet contribute to mass matrix for inverse seesaw mechanism and interactions involving the septet induce Majorana mass terms of these extra fermions. Although there are several free parameters in the mass matrix we can obtain some predictions for observables in neutrino sector such as CP phases, sum of neutrino mass and effective mass for neutrinoless double beta decay, especially around fixed points of modulus motivated by string theories.

Modular invariant flavor model of $\rm A_4$ and hierarchical structures at nearby fixed points

In the modular invariant flavor model of $\rm A_4$, we study the hierarchical structure of lepton/quark flavors at nearby fixed points of $τ=i$ and $τ=ω$ of the modulus, which are in the fundamental domain of $\rm PSL(2,\mathbb{Z})$. These fixed points correspond to the residual symmetries $\mathbb{Z}_2^{S}=\{I, S \}$ and $\mathbb{Z}_3^{S}=\{ I, ST, (ST)^2 \}$ of $\rm A_4$, where $S$ and $T$ are generators of the $A_4$ group. The infinite $τ= i \infty$ also preserves the residual symmetry of the subgroup $\mathbb{Z}^T_3=\{ I,T,T^2 \}$ of $\rm A_4$. We study typical two-type mass matrices for charged leptons and quarks in terms of modular forms of weights $2$, $4$ and $6$ while the neutrino mass matrix with the modular forms of weight $4$ through the Weinberg operator. Linear modular forms are obtained approximately by performing Taylor expansion of modular forms around fixed points. By using them, the flavor structure of the lepton and quark mass matrices are examined at nearby fixed points. The hierarchical structure of these mass matrices is clearly shown in the diagonal base of $S$, $T$ and $ST$. The observed PMNS and CKM mixing matrices can be reproduced at nearby fixed points in some cases of mass matrices. By scanning model parameters numerically at nearby fixed points, our discussion are confirmed for both the normal hierarchy and inverted one of neutrino masses. Predictions are given for the sum of neutrino masses and the CP violating Dirac phase of leptons at each nearby fixed point.

Quark and lepton flavors with common modulus $τ$ in $A_4$ modular symmetry

We study quark and lepton mass matrices with the common modulus $τ$ in the $A_4$ modular symmetry. The viable quark mass matrices are composed of modular forms of weights $2$, $4$ and $6$. It is remarked that the modulus $τ$ is close to $i$, which is a fixed point in the fundamental region of SL$(2,Z)$, and the CP symmetry is not violated. Indeed, the observed CP violation is reproduced at $τ$ which is deviated a little bit from $τ=i$. The charged lepton mass matrix is also given by using modular forms of weights $2$, $4$ and $6$, where five cases have been examined. The neutrino mass matrix is generated in terms of the modular forms of weight $4$ through the Weinberg operator. Lepton mass matrices are also consistent with the observed mixing angles at $τ$ close to $i$ for NH of neutrino masses. Allowed regions of $τ$ of quarks and leptons overlap each other for all cases of the charged lepton mass matrix. However, the sum of neutrino masses is crucial to test the common $τ$ for quarks and leptons. The minimal sum of neutrino masses $\sum m_i$ is $140$meV at the common $τ$. The inverted hierarchy of neutrino masses is unfavorable in our framework. It is emphasized that our result suggests the residual symmetry $\mathbb{Z}_2^{S}=\{ I, S \}$ in the quark and lepton mass matrices.

A Colored KNT Neutrino Model

We propose a radiative seesaw model at the three-loop level, in which quarks, leptons, leptoquark bosons, and a Majorana fermion of dark matter candidate are involved in the neutrino loop. Analyzing neutrino oscillation data including all possible constraints such as flavor changing neutral currents, lepton flavor violations, upper/lower bound on the mass of leptoquark from the collider physics, and the measured relic density of the dark matter, we show the allowed region to satisfy all the data/constraints.

A Radiative Neutrino Model with $SU(2)_L$ Triplet Fields

We propose a loop induced neutrino mass model, in which we introduce several exotic fermions and bosons with $SU(2)_L$ multiplet, and discuss various phenomenologies such as lepton flavor violations, muon anomalous magnetic moment, nonstandard interacting neutrinoless double beta decay, relic density of dark matter, and the possibility of the spin independent direct detection searches, imposing the constraints of oblique parameters. And we show a benchmark point to satisfy all the constraints and discuss our predictions.

A testable radiative neutrino mass model without additional symmetries and Explanation for the $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomaly

We propose a one-loop radiative Majorana-type neutrino-mass matrix without any kind of additional symmetries by introducing two leptoquark-like bosons only. In this scenario, we show that the anomaly appearing in the process $b\to s\ell\bar\ell$ can be explained without any conflicts against various constraints such as lepton-flavor violations, flavor-changing neutral currents, oblique parameters $ΔS,\ ΔT$, and the Drell-Yan process. We make the predictions for the flavor-violating lepton-pair production ($eμ$, $eτ$, and $μτ$) at the LHC, as well as the cross sections for pair production of these leptoquark-like bosons.

An $SU(2)_L$ Septet Scalar Linking to Radiative Neutrino Model

We study a radiative neutrino model with a SU(2) septet scalar with hypercharge $Y=2$ where active neutrino mass is induced at a one-loop level. Calculating a one-loop diagram, mass matrices for active neutrino is derived. We also analyze lepton flavor violations, anomalous magnetic moment of muon and the flavor violating Higgs decay $h \to μτ$. Then sizable muon $g-2$ and $\sim 1 \%$ of $BR(h \to μτ)$ could be obtained in our set up. Furthermore, the collider signature of the septet is discussed where we focus on quadratically charged scalar at the LHC 14 TeV. We find that it could be discovered up to $1.5$ TeV mass by searching multi charged lepton signal events.

We study the extended colored Zee-Babu model introducing a vector-like quark and singlet scalar. The active neutrino mass matrix and muon anomalous magnetic moment are analyzed, which can be fitted to experimental data satisfying the constraints from flavor changing neutral current. Classically Conformal Radiative Neutrino Model with Gauged B-L Symmetry

We discuss a classically conformal radiative neutrino model with gauged B$-$L symmetry, in which the B$-$L symmetry breaking can occur through the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism. As a result, Majorana mass term is generated and EW symmetry breaking also occurs. We show some allowed parameters to satisfy several theoretical and experimental constraints. Theoretical constraints are inert conditions and Coleman-Weinberg condition. Experimental bounds are lepton flavor violation(especially μ-> e γ), the current bound on the $Z'$ mass at LHC, in additions to the neutrino oscillations.

Confronting a New Three-loop Seesaw Model with the 750 GeV Diphoton Excess

We propose a new type of radiative neutrino model with a local hidden $U(1)$ symmetry, in which neutrino masses are induced at the three loop level, and discuss the muon anomalous magnetic moment, and dark matter candidates therein. By allowing the hypercharges larger than 3/2 for new fields that contribute to the neutrino masses and making them decay into the standard model fields appropriately, we introduce a lot of new particles with multiple electrical charges in a natural manner. As a by-product, we can accommodate the 750 GeV diphoton excess depending on the hypercharge quantum numbers of new fields responsible for the neutrino masses at the three loop level.

Explanation of $B \to K^{(*)} \ell^+ \ell^-$ and muon $g-2$, and implications at the LHC

More than $3σ$ deviations from the standard model are observed in the angular observable $P'_5$ of $B\to K^* μ^+ μ^-$ and muon $g-2$. To resolve these anomalies, we extend the standard model by adding two leptoquarks. It is found that the signal strength of the diphoton Higgs decay can exhibit a significant deviation from unity and is within the data errors. Although $\ell_i \to \ell_j γ$ puts severe bounds on some couplings, it is found that the excesses of $P'_5$ and muon $g-2$ can still be explained and can be accommodated to the measurement of $B_s\to μ^+ μ^-$ in this model. In addition, the leptoquark effects can also explain the LHCb measurement of $R_K = BR(B^+ \to K^+ μ^+μ^-)/BR(B^+ \to K^+ e^+e^-)=0.745^{+0.090}_{-0.074} \pm 0.036$, which shows a $2.6σ$ deviation from the standard model prediction.

Four-loop Neutrino Model Inspired by Diphoton Excess at 750 GeV

We propose a four-loop induced radiative neutrino mass model inspired by the diphoton excess at 750 GeV recently reported by ATLAS and CMS, in which a sizable diphoton excess is obtained via photon fusion introducing multi doubly-charged scalar bosons. Also we discuss the muon anomalous magnetic moment, and a dark matter candidate. The main process to explain the observed relic density relies on the final state of the new particle at 750 GeV. Finally we show the numerical results and obtain allowed region of several physical values in our model.

Generalized Zee-Babu model with 750 GeV Diphoton Resonance

We propose a generalized Zee-Babu model with a global $U(1)$ B-L symmetry, in which we classify the model in terms of the number of the hypercharge $N/2$ of the isospin doublet exotic charged fermions. Corresponding to each of the number of $N$, we need to introduce some multiply charged bosons in order to make the exotic fields decay into the standard model fields. We also discuss the muon anomalous magnetic moment and the diphoton excess depending on $N$, and we show what kind of models are in favor of these phenomenologies.

Higgs Phenomenology in the Minimal $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ Model

We investigate the phenomenology of a model based on the $SU(3)_c\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ gauge theory, the so-called 331 model. In particular, we focus on the Higgs sector of the model which is composed of three $SU(3)_L$ triplet Higgs fields, and this corresponds to the minimal form to realize phenomenologically acceptable scenario. After the spontaneous symmetry breaking $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X\to SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$, our Higgs sector effectively becomes that with two $SU(2)_L$ doublet scalar fields, in which the first and the second generation quarks couple to the different Higgs doublet from that couples to the third generation quarks. This structure causes the flavour changing neutral current mediated by Higgs bosons at the tree level. By taking an alignment limit of the mass matrix for the CP-even Higgs bosons, which is naturally realized in the case with the breaking scale of $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ to be much larger than that of $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$, we can avoid current constraints from flavour experiments such as the $B^0$-$\bar{B}^0$ mixing even for the Higgs bosons masses being ${\cal O}(100)$ GeV. In this allowed parameter space, we clarify that a characteristic deviation in quark Yukawa couplings of the standard model-like Higgs boson is predicted, which has a different pattern from that seen in two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry. We also find that the flavour violating decay modes of the extra Higgs boson, e.g., $H/A \to tc$ and $H^\pm \to ts$ can be dominant, and they yield the important signature to distinguish our model from the two Higgs doublet models.

LHC 750 GeV Diphoton excess in a radiative seesaw model

We investigate a possibility for explaining the recently announced 750\,GeV diphoton excess by the ATLAS and the CMS experiments at the CERN LHC in a model with multiple doubly charged particles, which was originally suggested for explaining tiny neutrino masses through a three-loop effect in a natural way. The enhanced radiatively generated effective coupling of a new singlet scalar $S$ with diphoton with multiple charged particles in the loop enlarges the production rate of $S$ in $pp\to S+X$ via photon fusion process and also the decay width $Γ(S\to γγ)$ even without assuming a tree level production mechanism. We provide detailed analysis on the cases with or without allowing the mixing between $S$ and the standard model Higgs doublet.

Nonthermal dark matter models and signals

Many experiments exploring weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) such as direct, indirect and collider searches have been carried out until now. However, a clear signal of a WIMP has not been found yet and it makes us to suspect that WIMPs are questionable as a dark matter candidate. Taking into account this situation, we propose two models in which dark matter relic density is produced by decay of a metastable particle. In the first model, the metastable particle is a feebly interacting massive particle, which is the so-called FIMP produced by freeze-in mechanism in the early universe. In the second model, the decaying particle is thermally produced the same as the usual WIMP. However decay of the particle into dark matter is led by a higher dimensional operator. As a phenomenologically interesting feature of nonthermal dark matter discussed in this paper, a strong sharp gamma-ray emission as an indirect detection signal occurs due to internal bremsstrahlung, although some parameter space has already been ruled out by this process. Moreover combining other experimental and theoretical constraints such as dark matter relic density, big bang nucleosynthesis, collider, gamma-rays and perturbativity of couplings, we discuss the two nonthermal DM models.

Radiative Seesaw in Minimal 3-3-1 Model

We study the neutrino sector in a minimal $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ model, in which its mass is generated at one-loop level with the charged lepton mass, and hence there exists a strong correlation between the charged-lepton mass and the neutrino mass. We identify the parameter region of this model to satisfy the current neutrino oscillation data as well as the constraints on lepton flavor violating processes. We also discuss a possibility to explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment.

Radiative Seesaw Model with Degenerate Majorana Dark Matter

We study a three loop induced neutrino mass model with exotic vector-like isospin doublet leptons which contain a dark matter candidate. Then we explore lepton flavor violations, and dark matter physics in co-annihilation system. In this paper the nearly degenerate Majorana fermion dark matter can naturally be achieved at the two loop level, while the mass splitting can be larger than ${\cal O}$(200) keV which is required from the constraint of the direct detection search with spin independent inelastic scattering through $Z$ boson portal. As a result a monochromatic photon excess, its threshold energy is greater than ${\cal O}$(200) keV, is predicted in our model that could be measured through indirect detection experiments such as INTEGRAL.

Radiatively induced Quark and Lepton Mass Model

Renormalizable Model for Neutrino Mass, Dark Matter, Muon $g-2$ and 750 GeV Diphoton Excess

We discuss a possibility to explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess observed at the LHC in a three-loop neutrino mass model which has a similar structure to the model by Krauss, Nasri and Trodden. Tiny neutrino masses are naturally generated by the loop effect of new particles with their couplings and masses to be of order 0.1-1 and TeV, respectively. The lightest right-handed neutrino, which runs in the three-loop diagram, can be a dark matter candidate. In addition, the deviation in the measured value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment from its prediction in the standard model can be compensated by one-loop diagrams with exotic multi-charged leptons and scalar bosons. For the diphoton event, an additional isospin singlet real scalar field plays the role to explain the excess by taking its mass of 750 GeV, where it is produced from the gluon fusion production via the mixing with the standard model like Higgs boson. We find that the cross section of the diphoton process can be obtained to be a few fb level by taking the masses of new charged particles to be about 375 GeV and related coupling constants to be order 1.

The model includes two kinds of dark matter candidates. We also discuss whether our resonant leptogenesis can be differentiated from the other scenarios at TeV scale or not.

Two-loop Induced Majorana Neutrino Mass in a Radiatively Induced Quark and Lepton Mass Model

A two-loop induced radiative neutrino model is proposed as an extension of our previous work in which the first and second generation standard model fermion masses are generated at one-loop level in both quark and lepton sectors. Then we discuss current neutrino oscillation data, lepton flavor violations, muon anomalous magnetic moment, and a bosonic dark matter candidate, for both the normal and inverted neutrino mass hierarchy. Our numerical analysis shows that less hierarchical Yukawa coupling constants can fit the experimental data with TeV scale dark matter.

Effect of Degenerate Particles on Internal Bremsstrahlung of Majorana Dark Matter

Gamma-rays induced by annihilation or decay of dark matter can be its smoking gun signature. In particular, gamma-rays generated by internal bremsstrahlung of Majorana and real scalar dark matter is promising since it can be a leading emission of sharp gamma-rays. However in the case of Majorana dark matter, its cross section for internal bremsstrahlung cannot be large enough to be observed by future gamma-ray experiments if the observed relic density is assumed to be thermally produced. In this paper, we introduce some degenerate particles with Majorana dark matter, and show they lead enhancement of the cross section. As a result, increase of about one order of magnitude for the cross section is possible without conflict with the observed relic density, and it would be tested by the future gamma-ray experiments such as GAMMA-400 and Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). In addition, the constraints of perturbativity, positron observation by the AMS experiment and direct search for dark matter are discussed.

Flavour Dependent Gauged Radiative Neutrino Mass Model

We propose a one-loop induced radiative neutrino mass model with anomaly free flavour dependent gauge symmetry: $μ$ minus $τ$ symmetry $U(1)_{μ-τ}$. A neutrino mass matrix satisfying current experimental data can be obtained by introducing a weak isospin singlet scalar boson that breaks $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ symmetry, an inert doublet scalar field, and three right-handed neutrinos in addition to the fields in the standard model. We find that a characteristic structure appears in the neutrino mass matrix: two-zero texture form which predicts three non-zero neutrino masses and three non-zero CP-phases from five well measured experimental inputs of two squared mass differences and three mixing angles. Furthermore, it is clarified that only the inverted mass hierarchy is allowed in our model. In a favored parameter set from the neutrino sector, the discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment between the experimental data and the the standard model prediction can be explained by the additional neutral gauge boson loop contribution with mass of order 100 MeV and new gauge coupling of order $10^{-3}$.

Higgs Triplet Model with Classically Conformal Invariance

We discuss an extension of the minimal Higgs triplet model with a classically conformal invariance and with a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry. In our scenario, tiny masses of neutrinos are generated by a hybrid contribution from the type-I and type-II seesaw mechanisms. The shape of the Higgs potential at low energies is determined by solving one-loop renormalization group equations for all the scalar quartic couplings with a set of initial values of parameters at the Planck scale. We find a successful set of the parameters in which the $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry is radiatively broken via the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism at the ${\cal O}$(10) TeV scale, and the electroweak symmetry breaking is also triggered by the $U(1)_{B-L}$ breaking. Under this configuration, we can predict various low energy observables such as the mass spectrum of extra Higgs bosons, and the mixing angles. Furthermore, using these predicted mass parameters, we obtain upper limits on Yukawa couplings among an isospin triplet Higgs field and lepton doublets from lepton flavor violation data.

PeV Scale Right Handed Neutrino Dark Matter in $S_4$ Flavor Symmetric extra U(1) model

Recent observation of high energy neutrino in IceCube experiment suggests existence of superheavy dark matter beyond PeV. We identify the parent particles of neutrino as two degenerated right handed neutrinos, assuming the dark matter is the heaviest right handed neutrino. The $O(V_{cb})\sim O(10^{-2})$ flavor symmetry breaking accounts for the $O(10^{-4})$ mass degeneracy of right handed neutrinos which is a sizable scale to explain the successful resonant leptogenesis at the PeV scale. At the same time, non-thermal production of the heaviest right handed neutrino gives the right amount of dark matter for $T_{RH}\sim 10$PeV. The footprint of flavor symmetry is left in degenerated mass spectra of extra Higgs multiplet and colored Higgs multiplet which may be testable for LHC or future colliders.

Three Loop Neutrino Model with Isolated $k^{\pm\pm}$

We propose a three loop radiative neutrino mass scenario with an isolated doubly charged singlet scalar $k^{\pm\pm}$ without couplings to the charged leptons, while two other singly charged scalars $h_1^\pm$ and $h_2^\pm$ attach to them. In this setup, the lepton flavor violation originating from $k^{\pm\pm}$ exchanges is suppressed and the model is less constrained, where some couplings can take sizable values. As reported in our previous work, the loop suppression factor at the three loop level would be too strong and realized neutrino masses in a three loop scenario could be smaller than the observed minuscule values. The sizable couplings can help us to enhance neutrino masses without drastically large scalar trilinear couplings appearing in a neutrino mass matrix, which tends to drive the vacuum stability to become jeopardized at the one loop level. Now the doubly charged scalar $k^{\pm\pm}$ has less constraint via lepton flavor violation and the vacuum can be quite stable, and thus a few hundred GeV mass in $k^{\pm\pm}$ is possible, which is within the LHC reach and this model can be tested in the near future. Note that the other $h_1^\pm$ and $h_2^\pm$ should be heavy at least around a few TeV. We suitably arrange the charges of an additional global $U(1)$ symmetry, where the decay constant of the associated Nambu-Goldstone boson can be around a TeV scale consistently. Also, this model is indirectly limited through a global analysis on results of the LHC Higgs search and issues on a dark matter candidate, the lightest Majorana neutrino. After $h_1^\pm$ and $h_2^\pm$ are decoupled, this particle couples to the standard model particles only through two charge parity even scalars in theory and thus information on this scalar sector is important. Consistent solutions are found, but a part of them is now on the edge.

Three-loop Neutrino Mass Model with Doubly Charged Particles from Iso-Doublets

We propose a new type of a three-loop induced neutrino mass model with dark matter candidates which are required for the neutrino mass generation. The smallness of neutrino masses can be naturally explained without introducing super heavy particles, namely, much heavier than a TeV scale and quite small couplings as compared to the gauge couplings. We find that as a bonus, the anomaly of the muon anomalous magnetic moment can simultaneously be explained by loop effects of new particles. In our model, there are doubly charged scalar bosons and leptons from isospin doublet fields which give characteristic collider signatures. In particular, the doubly charged scalar bosons can decay into the same-sign dilepton with its chirality of both right-handed or left- and right-handed. This can be a smoking gun signature to identify our model and be useful to distinguish other models with doubly charged scalar bosons at collider experiments.

3.55 keV X-ray Line Interpretation in Radiative Neutrino Model

We discuss the 3.55 keV X-ray line anomaly reported by XMN-Newton X-ray observatory using data of various galaxy clusters and Andromeda galaxy in a radiative neutrino model, in which the mixing between the active neutrino and the dark matter is generated at two-loop level after the spontaneous breaking of $Z_2$ symmetry. It might provide us a natural explanation of its tiny mixing ${\cal O}(10^{-10})$, which is observed by their experiments. Such an Abelian discrete symmetry plays a crucial role in differentiating the TeV scale Majorana field from our dark matter, whose mass is expect to be around 7.1 keV.

We study an exciting dark matter scenario in a radiative neutrino model to explain the X-ray line signal at $3.55$ keV recently reported by XMN-Newton X-ray observatory using data of various galaxy clusters and Andromeda galaxy. We show that the required large cross section for the up-scattering process to explain the X-ray line can be obtained via the resonance of the pseudo-scalar. Moreover this model can be compatible with the thermal production of dark matter and the constraint from the direct detection experiment.

7 keV Dark Matter as X-ray Line Signal in Radiative Neutrino Model

We study a light dark matter in a radiative neutrino model to explain the X-ray line signal at about $3.5$ keV recently reported by XMN-Newton X-ray observatory using data of various galaxy clusters and Andromeda galaxy. The signal requires very tiny mixing between the dark matter and an active neutrino; $\sin^2 2θ\approx 10^{-10}$. It could suggest that such a light dark matter cannot contribute to the observed neutrino masses if we use the seesaw mechanism. In other words, neutrino masses might come a structure different from the dark matter. We propose a model in which Dirac type active neutrino masses are induced at one-loop level. On the other hand the mixing between active neutrino and dark matter are generated at two-loop level. As a result we can explain both the observed neutrino masses and the X-ray line signal from the dark matter decay with rather mild hierarchy of parameters in TeV scale.

Effects of Long-lived 10 MeV Scale Sterile Neutrino on Primordial Elemental Abundances and Effective Neutrino Number

The primordial lithium abundance inferred from observations of metal-poor stars is ~3 times smaller than the theoretical value in standard big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) model. We assume a simple model including a sterile neutrino nu_H with mass of O(10) MeV which decays long after BBN. We then investigate cosmological effects of a sterile neutrino decay. We formulate the injection spectrum of nonthermal photons induced by electrons and positrons generated at the nu_H decay, as a function of the nu_H mass and the photon temperature. We then consistently solve (1) the cosmic thermal history, (2) nonthermal nucleosynthesis induced by the nonthermal photons, (3) the baryon-to-photon ratio eta, and (4) the effective neutrino number N_eff. Amounts of energy injection at the nu_H decay are constrained from limits on primordial D and 7Li abundances, the N_eff value, and the cosmic microwave background energy spectrum. We find that 7Be is photodisintegrated and the Li problem is partially solved for the lifetime 10^4-10^5 s and the mass >~ 14 MeV. 7Be destruction by more than a factor of 3 is not possible because of an associated D over-destruction. In the parameter region, the eta value is decreased slightly, while the N_eff value is increased by a factor of <~ 1. In this study, errors in photodisintegration cross sections of 7Be(g, a)3He and 7Li(g, a)3H that have propagated through literatures are corrected. It is then found that the new photodisintegration rates are 2.3 to 2.5 times smaller than the old rates, so that efficiencies of 7Be and 7Li photodisintegration are significantly smaller.

Electron/Muon Specific Two Higgs Doublet Model

We discuss two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken discrete $\mathbb{S}_3$ symmery, where the mass matrix for charged-leptons is predicted as the diagonal form in the weak eigenbasis of lepton fields. Similar to an introduction of $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry, the tree level flavor changing neutral current can be forbidden by imposing the $\mathbb{S}_3$ symmetry to the model. Under the $\mathbb{S}_3$ symmetry, there are four types of Yukawa interactions depending on the $\mathbb{S}_3$ charge assignment to right-handed fermions. We find that extra Higgs bosons can be muon and electron specific in one of four types of the Yukawa interaction. This property does not appear in any other two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken ${\mathbb Z}_2$ symmetry. We discuss the phenomenology of the muon and electron specific Higgs bosons at the Large Hadron Collider; namely we evaluate allowed parameter regions from the current Higgs boson search data and discovery potential of such a Higgs boson at the 14 TeV run.

Inert Extension of the Zee-Babu Model

We propose a two-loop induced Zee-Babu type neutrino mass model at the TeV scale. Although there is no dark matter candidate in the original Zee-Babu model, that is contained in our model by introducing an unbroken discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. The discrepancy between the experimental value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon $g-2$) and its prediction in the standard model can be explained by contributions from additional vector-like charged-leptons which are necessary to give non-zero neutrino masses. The mass of vector-like leptons to be slightly above 300 GeV is favored and allowed from the muon $g-2$ and the current LHC data. We find that from the structure of neutrino mass matrix, doubly-charged scalar bosons in our model can mainly decay into the same-sign and same-flavour dilepton plus missing transverse momentum. By measuring an excess of these events at the LHC, our model can be distinguished from the other models including doubly-charged scalar bosons.

Quark mixing from Delta(6N^2) family symmetry

We consider a direct approach to quark mixing based on the discrete family symmetry Delta (6N^2) in which the Cabibbo angle is determined by a residual Z_2 times Z_2 subgroup to be $|V_{us}|=0.222521$, for $N$ being a multiple of 7. We propose a particular model in which unequal smaller quark mixing angles and CP phases may occur without breaking the residual Z_2 times Z_2 symmetry. We perform a numerical analysis of the model for $N=14$, where small Z_2 times Z_2 breaking effects of order 3% are allowed by model, allowing perfect agreement within the uncertainties of the experimentally determined best fit quark mixing values.

Radiative Generation of Lepton Masses with the $U(1)'$ Gauge Symmetry

We revisit our previous model proposed in Ref. \cite{Okada:2013iba}, in which lepton masses except the tauon mass are generated at the one-loop level in a TeV scale physics. Although in the previous work, rather large Yukawa couplings constants; i.e., greater than about 3, are required to reproduce the muon mass, we do not need to introduce such a large but ${\cal O}$(1) couplings. In our model, masses for neutrinos (charged-leptons) are generated by a dimension five effective operator with two isospin triplet (singlet and doublet) scalar fields. Thus, the mass hierarchy between neutrinos and charged-leptons can be naturally described by the difference in the number of vacuum expectation values (VEVs) of the triplet fields which must be much smaller than the VEV of the doublet field due to the constraint from the electroweak rho parameter. Furthermore, the discrepancy in the measured muon anomalous magnetic moment ($g-2$) from the prediction in the standard model are explained by one-loop contributions from vector-like extra charged-leptons which are necessary to obtain the radiative generation of the lepton masses. We study the decay property of the extra leptons by taking into account the masses of muon, neutrinos, muon $g-2$ and dark matter physics. We find that the extra leptons can mainly decay into the mono-muon, dark matter with or without $Z$ bosons in the favored parameter regions.

Radiative Generation of the Lepton Mass

We propose a new mechanism where both Dirac masses for the charged-leptons and Majorana masses for neutrinos are generated via quantum levels. The charged-lepton masses are given by the vacuum expectation values (VEVs) of the Higgs doublet field and that of a triplet field. On the other hand, neutrino masses are generated by two VEVs of triplet Higgs fields. As a result, the hierarchy between the masses for charged-leptons and neutrinos can be explained by the triplet VEVs which have to be much smaller than the doublet VEV due to the constraint from the electroweak rho parameter. We construct a concrete model to realize this mechanism with discrete $\mathbb{Z}_2$ and $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetries, in which masses for neutrinos and those for the muon and electron are generated at the one-loop level. As a bonus in our model, the deviation in the measured muon $g-2$ from the standard model prediction can be explained by contributions of extra particle loops. Besides, the lightest $\mathbb{Z}_2$-odd neutral particle can be a dark matter candidate. The collider phenomenology is also discussed, especially focusing on doubly-charged scalar bosons which are necessary to introduce to occur our mechanism.

Radiative Lepton Model and Dark Matter with Global $U(1)'$ Symmetry

We propose a radiative lepton model, in which the charged lepton masses are generated at one-loop level, and the neutrino masses are induced at two-loop level. On the other hand, tau mass is derived at tree level since it is too heavy to generate radiatively. Then we discuss muon anomalous magnetic moment together with the constraint of lepton flavor violation. A large muon magnetic moment is derived due to the vector like charged fermions which are newly added to the standard model. In addition, considering a scalar dark matter in our model, a strong gamma-ray signal is produced by dark matter annihilation via internal bremsstrahlung. We can also obtain the effective neutrino number by the dark radiation of the Goldstone boson coming from the imposed global $U(1)'$ symmetry.

In particular, the mixing angle between the Standard Model like Higgs and an extra Higgs is extremely restricted by the direct detection experiment of dark matter. $T_7$ Flavor Model in Three Loop Seesaw and Higgs Phenomenology

We propose a new type of radiative seesaw model in which observed neutrino masses are generated through a three-loop level diagram in combination with tree-level type-II seesaw mechanism in a renormalizable theory. We introduce a Non-abelian flavor symmetry $T_7$ in order to constrain the form of Yukawa interactions and Higgs potential. Although several models based on a Non-abelian flavor symmetry predict the universal coupling constants among the standard model like Higgs boson and charged leptons, which is disfavored by the current LHC data, our model can avoid such a situation. We show a benchmark parameter set that is consistent with the current experimental data, and we discuss multi-muon events as a key collider signature to probe our model.

Hidden Sector Dark Matter with Global $U(1)_X$-symmetry and Fermi-LAT 130 GeV $γ$-ray Excess

We suggest a dark matter scenario which could contribute the possible anomaly observed by Fermi-LAT $γ$-ray space telescope. It is based on the model recently proposed by Weinberg. In our scenario the gamma-ray line signal comes from the fermionic dark matter ($M_{\rm DM}=214 $ GeV) annihilating into two light scalars with mass around 500 MeV which in turn decay into two neutral pions. Finally the pions can decay into two 130 GeV photons. The strong constraint from the direct detection leaves only the channel of the dark matter annihilation into two light scalars for both the relic density and the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray line signal. The resulting gamma-ray spectrum is rather broad and does not fit to the data perfectly, but the data also show there may be fluctuation in the spectrum. There is no associated $Z$-boson or Higgs boson production contrary to most other works where the signal comes from the loops of charged particles. The annihilation into the other SM particles are highly suppressed due to the small mixing from the direct detection. Future experiments with more data will give more clues on the possible scenarios.

Multicomponent dark matter particles in a two-loop neutrino model

We construct a loop induced seesaw model in a TeV scale theory with gauged U(1)_{B-L} symmetry. Light neutrino masses are generated at two-loop level and right-handed neutrinos also obtain their masses by one-loop effect. Multi-component Dark Matters (DMs) are included in our model due to the remnant discrete symmetry after the B-L symmetry breaking and the Z_2 parity which is originally imposed to the model. We investigate the multi-component DM properties, in which we have two fermionic DMs with different mass scales, O(10) GeV and O(100-1000) GeV. The former mass corresponds to the lightest right-handed neutrino mass induced by the loop effect, although the latter one to the SM gauge singlet fermion. We show each of the DM annihilation processes and compare to the the observation of relic abundance, together with the constraints of Lepton Flavor Violation (LFV) and active neutrino masses. Moreover we show that our model has some parameter region allowed by the direct detection result reported by XENON100, and it is possible to verify the model by the future XENON experiment.

New Interpretation of the Recent Result of AMS-02 and Multi-component Decaying Dark Matters with non-Abelian Discrete Flavor Symmetry

Recently the AMS-02 experiment has released the data of positron fraction with much small statistical error. Because of the small error, it is no longer easy to fit the data with a single dark matter for a fixed diffusion model and dark matter profile. In this paper, we propose a new interpretation of the data that it originates from decay of two dark matter. This interpretation gives a rough threshold of the lighter DM component. When DM decays into leptons, the positron fraction in the cosmic ray depends on the flavor of the final states, and this is fixed by imposing non-Abelian discrete symmetry in our model. By assuming two gauge-singlet fermionic decaying DM particles, we show that a model with non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetry, e.g. $T_{13}$, can give a much better fitting to the AMS-02 data compared with single dark matter scenario. Few dimension six operators of universal leptonic decay of DM particles are allowed in our model since its decay operators are constrained by the $T_{13}$ symmetry. We also show that the lepton masses and mixings are consistent with current experimental data, due to the flavor symmetry.

Can A Higgs Portal Dark Matter be Compatible with the Anti-proton Cosmic-ray?

Recent direct detection experiments of Dark Matter (DM), CoGeNT and DAMA implicate a light DM of a few GeV. Such a light DM would generate a large amount of anti-proton since suppression for anti-proton flux from DM annihilation is ineffective. We discuss whether a light dark matter with mass of 5-15 GeV, which is especially in favor of the recent experiments reported by CoGeNT, is compatible with the anti-proton no excess in the cosmic-ray. In view of the direct detection of DM and no anti-proton excess in the cosmic-ray both, we show that a Dirac DM is favored than a scalar one since there is no s-wave of the annihilation cross section for the Dirac DM. A large elastic cross section for direct detection can be obtained through the additional light Higgs exchange. We show an allowed region that simultaneously satisfies the DM relic density, the elastic cross section favored by CoGeNT and also the constraint of H_L Z Z coupling of the light Higgs boson by LEP.

Higgs Signatures in Inverse Seesaw Model at the LHC

In the inverse seesaw mechanism where the spontaneously broken B-L symmetry induces tiny B-L violating Majorana masses for right-handed neutrinos, non-standard Higgs signatures can arise due to a possible Higgs doublet and singlet mixing and/or Higgs boson decays to a left- and right-handed neutrino. This leads to a remarkable feature of hadronically quiet di-lepton final states which can exhibit, in particular, lepton flavour violating signatures coming from flavour-dependent neutrino Yukawa couplings. In this process, one lepton coming from the right-handed decay could be soft enough can be missed by the trigger level cuts of CMS and ATLAS for the di-lepton plus missing energy signature. The prospects of such a signature are investigated for 8 TeV and 14 TeV center of mass energy of the LHC, taking the maximum value of the allowed neutrino Yukawa coupling and the right-handed neutrino mass of 100 GeV. A PYTHIA level simulation shows that the integrated luminosity of 10--20/fb and 1.6/fb for 8 TeV is required to observe the inclusive leptonic and lepton flavour violating signatures, respectively. For 14 TeV, the reach is more and a larger parameter space of the inverse seesaw model can be probed.

We classify the suppression mechanisms of proton-decay and explain how the flavor symmetry works. There is an interesting solution, such as, in a special direction of vacuum expectation value (VEV), baryon number violating interactions are canceled. In the case that the suppression of proton decay is realized by the appropriate size of VEV, the allowed region of VEV exists when the exotic quark mass is O(TeV). Lepton Flavor Model and Decaying Dark Matter in The Binary Icosahedral Group Symmetry

We propose a new flavor model that can simlutaneously well-describe the indirect detection experiment of (decaying) dark matter in the cosmic-ray, with the binary icosahedral group A'_5. We show not only that the A'_{5} symmetry can derive quark and lepton masses and mixings consistently, but also that are expected some predictions for the lepton sector. And if we assume a gauge-singlet fermionic decaying dark matter, its decay operators are also constrained by this symmetry so that only dimension six operators of leptonic decay are allowed up to six dimensional Lagrangians. We show that the T_{13} symmetry can derive lepton masses and mixings consistently. Moreover, if we assume a gauge-singlet fermionic decaying dark matter, its decay operators are also constrained by the T_{13} symmetry so that only dimension six operators of leptonic decay are allowed. We find that the cosmic-ray anomalies reported by PAMELA and Fermi-LAT are explained by decaying dark matter controlled by the T_{13} flavor symmetry.

Two Component Dark Matters in S_4 x Z_2 Flavor Symmetric Extra U(1) Model

We study cosmic-ray anomaly observed by PAMELA based on E_6 inspired extra U(1) model with S_4 x Z_2 flavor symmetry. In our model, the lightest flavon has very long lifetime of O(10^{18)) second which is longer than the age of the universe, but not long enough to explain the PAMELA result ~ O(10^{26}) sec. Such a situation could be avoidable by considering that the flavon is not the dominant component of dark matters and the dominant one is the lightest neutralino. With appropriate parameter set, density parameter of dark matter and over-abundance of positron flux in cosmic-ray are realized at the same time. There is interesting correlation between spectrum of positron flux and V_{MNS}. No excess of anti-proton in cosmic-ray suggests that sfermions are heavier than 4 TeV and the masses of the light Higgs bosons are degenerated.

Cancellation Mechanism of FCNCs in S_4 x Z_2 Flavor Symmetric Extra U(1) Model

We propose a E_6 inspired supersymmetric model with a non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetry; SU(3)_c x SU(2)_W x U(1)_Y x U(1)_X x S_4 x Z_2. In our scenario, the additional abelian gauge symmetry; U(1)_X, not only solves the mu-problem in the minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM), but also requires new exotic fields which play an important role in solving flavor puzzles. If our exotic quarks can be embedded into a S_4 triplet, which corresponds to the number of the generation, one finds that dangerous proton decay can be well-suppressed. Hence, it might be expected that the generation structure for lepton and quark in the SM(Standard Model) can be understood as a new system in order to stabilize the proton in a supersymemtric standard model (SUSY). Moreover, due to the nature of the discrete non-Abelian symmetry itself, Yukawa coupling constants of our model are drastically reduced. In our previous work, we actually have found much success. However, we also have to solve Higgs mediated FCNC at tree level, as is often the case with such extended Higgs models. In this paper, we propose a promising mechanism which could make cancellation between Higgs and SUSY contributions.

Gauged B-L Leptogenesis

We propose a new leptogenesis scenario in a gauged $B-L$ model with supersymmetry at the TeV energy scale. Instead of relying on the very small Yukawa couplings of the singlet neutrinos $N^c$ to generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe, which requires a very large resonance enhancement, their $B-L$ gauge interactions are invoked. Successful leptogenesis is then possible if a particular scalar bilinear $\tilde N^c \tilde N^c$ term is disallowed.

Non-Abelian Discrete Symmetries in Particle Physics

We review pedagogically non-Abelian discrete groups, which play an important role in the particle physics. We show group-theoretical aspects for many concrete groups, such as representations, their tensor products. We explain how to derive, conjugacy classes, characters, representations, and tensor products for these groups (with a finite number). We discussed them explicitly for $S_N$, $A_N$, $T'$, $D_N$, $Q_N$, $Σ(2N^2)$, $Δ(3N^2)$, $T_7$, $Σ(3N^3)$ and $Δ(6N^2)$, which have been applied for model building in the particle physics. We also present typical flavor models by using $A_4$, $S_4$, and $Δ(54)$ groups. Breaking patterns of discrete groups and decompositions of multiplets are important for applications of the non-Abelian discrete symmetry. We discuss these breaking patterns of the non-Abelian discrete group, which are a powerful tool for model buildings. We also review briefly about anomalies of non-Abelian discrete symmetries by using the path integral approach.

Seesaw Mechanism Confronting PAMELA in S_4 Flavor Symmetric Extra U(1) Model

We study cosmic-ray anomaly observed by PAMELA based on E_6 inspired extra U(1) model with S_4 flavor symmetry. In our model, the lightest flavon has very long lifetime of O(10^18) second which is longer than the age of the universe, but not long enough to explain the PAMELA result O(10^26) sec. Such a situation could be avoidable by considering that the flavon is not the dominant component of dark matters. However non-thermalizing the flavon is needed to obtain proper relic density. This relates reheating temperature of the universe with seesaw mass scale. If we assume this flavon is a particle decaying into positron (or electron), the seesaw mass scale is constrained by reheating temperature. Thus we find an interesting result that the allowed region is around O(10^12) GeV, which is consistent with our original result.

Universally Leptophilic Dark Matter From Non-Abelian Discrete Symmetry

The positron anomaly recently reported by the cosmic-ray measurements can be explained by the decaying dark matter scenario, where it decays mainly into leptons with the lifetime of O(10^26) second. When the dark matter is a fermionic particle, the lifetime of this order is known to be obtained by a dimension 6 operator suppressed by the unification scale 10^16 GeV, while such decay operators do not necessarily involve only leptons. In addition, the scenario would be spoiled if there exist lower-dimensional operators inducing the dark matter decay. We show in this letter that a single non-Abelian discrete symmetry such as A_4 is possible to prohibit all such harmful (non-leptonically coupled and lower-dimensional) operators. Moreover, the dark matter decays into charged leptons in a flavor-blind fashion due to the non-Abelian flavor symmetry, which results in perfect agreements not only with the PAMELA data but also with the latest Fermi-LAT data reported very recently. We also discuss some relevance between the discrete symmetry and neutrino physics.

Delta(54) Flavor Model for Leptons and Sleptons

We have studied $Δ(54)\times Z_2$ flavor model for leptons and sleptons. The tri-bimaximal mixing can be reproduced for arbitrary neutrino masses if vacuum alignments of scalar fields are guaranteed. The deviation from the tri-bimaximal mixing of leptons is predicted. The predicted upper bound for $\sinθ_{13}$ is 0.06. The magnitude of $\sinθ_{23}$ could be deviated from the maximal mixing considerably, but $\sinθ_{12}$ is hardly deviated from the tri-maximal mixing. We have also studied SUSY breaking terms in the slepton sector. Three families of left-handed and right-handed slepton masses are degenerate. Even although flavor symmetry breaking effects are taken into account, our model leads to smaller values of flavor changing neutral currents than the present experimental bounds.

Lepton Flavor Model from Delta(54) Symmetry

We present the lepton flavor model with $Δ(54)$, which appears typically in heterotic string models on the $T^2/Z_3$ orbifold. Our model reproduces the tri-bimaximal mixing in the parameter region around degenerate neutrino masses or two massless neutrinos. We predict the deviation from the tri-bimaximal mixing by putting the experimental data of neutrino masses in the normal hierarchy of neutrino masses. The upper bound of $\sin^2θ_{13}$ is 0.01. There is the strong correlation between $θ_{23}$ and $θ_{13}$. Unless $θ_{23}$ is deviated from the maximal mixing considerably, $θ_{13}$ remains to be tiny.

Higgs Potential in Minimal S_3 Invariant Extension of the Standard Model

Minimal $S_{3}$ invariant Higgs potential with real soft $S_{3}$ breaking masses is investigated. It is required that without having a problem with triviality, all physical Higgs bosons, except one neutral one, become heavy ~O(10) TeV in order to sufficiently suppress flavor changing neutral currents. There exist three nonequivalent soft mass terms that can be characterized according to their discrete symmetries, and the one which breaks $S_{3}$ completely. The $S_{2}'$ invariant vacuum expectation values (VEVs) of the Higgs fields are the most economic VEVs in the sense that the freedom of VEVs can be completely absorbed into the Yukawa couplings so that it is possible to derive, without referring to the details of the VEVs, the most general form for the fermion mass matrices in minimal $S_{3}$ extension of the standard model. We find that except for the completely broken case of the soft terms, the $S_{2}'$ invariant VEVs are unique VEVs that satisfy the requirement of heavy Higgs bosons. It is found that they also correspond to a local minimum in the completely broken case.
