Aspects of the gauge boson-gaugino mixing in a supersymmetric scenario with Lorentz-symmetry violation

We write down an $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric extension for non-Abelian gauge theories in (1+3) dimensions with a Lorentz- and CPT-violating term of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw type. By including effects of the background (supersymmetric) fermion bilinears that accompany Lorentz-symmetry violation in a Carroll-Field-Jackiw scenario, we investigate both the gauge boson and gaugino dispersion relations in order to compute their respective masses in terms of the background structures. Such results open up a potential path towards a possible mechanism for gaugino-gauge boson conversion, an analogue of the Primakoff effect, induced here not by an external magnetic field, but instead by the (Majorana) fermionic sector of the supersymmetry multiplet in the backstage of the Lorentz-symmetry violation.

Relativistic quantum oscillators in the global monopole spacetime

We investigated the effects of the global monopole spacetime on the Dirac and Klein-Gordon relativistic quantum oscillators. In order to do this, we solve the Dirac and Klein-Gordon equations analytically and discuss the influence of this background which is characterized by the curvature of the spacetime on the energy profiles of these oscillators. In addition, we introduce a hard-wall potential and, for a particular case, determine the energy spectrum for relativistic quantum oscillators in this background.

Casimir Effect at finite temperature for the CPT-even extension of QED

By the thermofield dynamics (TFD) formalism we obtain the energy-momentum tensor for the Electromagnetism with Lorentz Breaking Even term of the Standard Model Extended (SME) Sector in a topology $S^{1}\times S^{1}\times R^{2}$. We carry out the compactification by a generalized TFD-Bogoliubov transformation that is used to define a renormalized energy-momentum tensor, and the Casimir energy and pressure at finite temperature are then derived. A comparative analysis with the electromagnetic case is developed, and we remark the influence of the background in the traditional Casimir effect.

A Landau-type quantization from a Lorentz symmetry violation background with crossed electric and magnetic fields

We investigate the arising of an analogue of the Landau quantization from a background of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry established by a time-like 4-vector and a field configuration of crossed electric and magnetic field. We also analyse the effects on this Landau-type system subject to a hard-wall confining potential by showing a particular case where a discrete spectrum of energy can be obtained. Further, we analyse the effects of a linear confining potential on the Landau-type system. We show that a quantum effect characterized by the dependence of the cyclotron frequency on the quantum numbers of the system can arise in this analogue of the Landau system. As an example, we calculate the cyclotron frequency associated with ground state of the system.

He-McKellar-Wilkens-type effect from the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects

From the effects of the Lorentz symmetry violation in the CPT-even gauge sector of Standard Model Extension, we establish a possible scenario where an analogue of the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect can stem from. Besides, we build quantum holonomies associated with the analogue of the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect and discuss a possible analogy with the holonomic quantum computation [P. Zanardi and M. Rasetti, Phys. Lett. A {\bf264}, 94 (1999)]. Finally, we investigate the dependence of the energy levels on the He-McKellar-Wilkens geometric phase induced by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects when the particle is confined to a hard-wall confining potential.

Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on relativistic EPR correlations

Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on relativistic EPR (Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen) correlations are discussed. From the modified Maxwell theory coupled to gravity, we establish a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation and write an effective metric for the Minkowski spacetime. Then, we obtain the Wigner rotation angle via the Fermi-Walker transport of spinors and consider the WKB ((Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) approximation in order to study the influence of Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on the relativistic EPR correlations.

On a relativistic scalar particle subject to a Coulomb-type potential given by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects

The behaviour of a relativistic scalar particle in a possible scenario that arises from the violation of the Lorentz symmetry is investigated. The background of the Lorentz symmetry violation is defined by a tensor field that governs the Lorentz symmetry violation out of the Standard Model Extension. Thereby, we show that a Coulomb-type potential can be induced by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects and bound states solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can be obtained. Further, we discuss the effects of this Coulomb-type potential on the confinement of the relativistic scalar particle to a linear confining potential by showing that bound states solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can also be achieved, and obtain a quantum effect characterized by the dependence of a parameter of the linear confining potential on the quantum numbers $\left\{n,l\right\}$ of the system.

Relativistic scalar particle subject to a confining potential and Lorentz symmetry breaking effects in the cosmic string spacetime

The behaviour of a relativistic scalar particle subject to a scalar potential under the effects of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry in the cosmic string spacetime is discussed. It is considered two possible scenarios of the Lorentz symmetry breaking in the CPT-even gauge sector of the Standard Model Extension defined by a tensor $\left(K_{F}\right)_{μναβ}$. Then, by introducing a scalar potential as a modification of the mass term of the Klein-Gordon equation, it is shown that the Klein-Gordon equation in the cosmic string spacetime is modified by the effects of the Lorentz symmetry violation backgrounds and bound state solution to the Klein-Gordon equation can be obtained.

Geometric quantum phases from Lorentz symmetry breaking effects in the cosmic string spacetime

By starting from the modified Maxwell theory coupled to gravity, the arising of geometric quantum phases in the relativistic and nonrelativistic quantum dynamics of a Dirac neutral particle from the effects of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry in the cosmic string spacetime is investigated. It is shown that the Dirac equation can be written in terms of an effective metric and a relativistic geometric phase stems from the topology of the cosmic string spacetime and the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. Further, the nonrelativistic limit of the Dirac equation is discussed and it is shown that both Lorentz symmetry breaking effects and the topology of the defect yields a phase shift in the wave function of the nonrelativistic spin-1/2 particle.

Lorentz violation and higher-derivative gravity

In this work, we analyze a gravity model with higher derivatives including a CPT-even Lorentz-violating term. In principle, the model could be a low-energy limit of a Lorentz-invariant theory presenting the violation of Lorentz symmetry as a consequence of a spontaneous symmetry-breaking mechanism if a decoupling between the metric and the Nambu-Goldstone modes is assumed. We have set up a convenient operator basis for the expansion of wave operators for symmetric second-rank tensors in the presence of a background vector. By using this set of operators, the particle content is obtained, and its consistency, regarding the conditions for stability and unitarity, is discussed. We conclude that this extra Lorentz noninvariant contribution is unable to address the problems of stability and unitarity of higher-derivative gravity models.

On the influence of a Rashba-type coupling induced by Lorentz-violating effects on a Landau system for a neutral particle

We study a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation background that allows us to build an analogue of the Landau system for a nonrelativistic Dirac neutral particle interacting with a field configuration of crossed electric and magnetic fields. We also discuss the arising of analogues of the Rashba coupling, the Zeeman term and the Darwin term from the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects, and the influence of these terms on the analogue of the Landau system confined to a two-dimensional quantum ring. Finally, we show that this analogy with the Landau system confined to a two-dimensional quantum ring allows us to establish an upper bound for the Lorentz symmetry breaking parameters.

Relativistic geometric quantum phases from the Lorentz symmetry violation effects in the CPT-even gauge sector of Standard Model Extension

We discuss the appearance of relativistic geometric quantum phases for a Dirac neutral particle based on possible scenarios of the Lorentz symmetry violation background in the CPT-even gauge sector of Standard Model Extension. Relativistic analogues of the Anandan quantum phase [J. Anandan, Phys. Lett. A 138, 347 (1989)] are obtained based on the the parity-even and parity-odd sectors of the tensor $\left(K_{F}\right)_{μναβ}$.

On Aharonov-Casher bound states

In this work bound states for the Aharonov-Casher problem are considered. According to Hagen's work on the exact equivalence between spin-1/2 Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, is known that the $\boldsymbol{\nabla}\cdot\mathbf{E}$ term cannot be neglected in the Hamiltonian if the spin of particle is considered. This term leads to the existence of a singular potential at the origin. By modeling the problem by boundary conditions at the origin which arises by the self-adjoint extension of the Hamiltonian, we derive for the first time an expression for the bound state energy of the Aharonov-Casher problem. As an application, we consider the Aharonov-Casher plus a two-dimensional harmonic oscillator. We derive the expression for the harmonic oscillator energies and compare it with the expression obtained in the case without singularity. At the end, an approach for determination of the self-adjoint extension parameter is given. In our approach, the parameter is obtained essentially in terms of physics of the problem.

Quantum Holonomies based on the Lorentz-violating tensor background

We study geometric quantum phases corresponding to analogues of the Anandan quantum phase [J. Anandan, Phys. Lett. A {\bf138}, 347 (1989)] based on a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation background in a tensor background. We also show that quantum holonomies associated with the analogue of the Anandan quantum phase can be determined, and discuss a way of performing one-qubit quantum gates by analogy with the holonomic quantum computation [P. Zanardi and M. Rasetti, Phys. Lett. A {\bf264}, 94 (1999)].

Relativistic Landau-He-McKellar-Wilkens quantization and relativistic bound states solutions for a Coulomb-like potential induced by the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects

In this work, we discuss the relativistic Landau-He-McKellar-Wilkens quantization and relativistic bound states solutions for a Dirac neutral particle under the influence of a Coulomb-like potential induced by the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. We present new possible scenarios of studying Lorentz symmetry breaking effects by fixing the space-like vector field background in special configurations. It is worth mentioning that we use the criterion for studying the violation of Lorentz symmetry is that the gauge symmetry should be preserved.

The photino sector and a confining potential in a supersymetric Lorentz-symmetry-violating model

We study the spectrum of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw model for Electrodynamics with a topological Chern-Simons-like Lorentz-symmetry violating term. We identify a number of independent background fermion condensates, work out the gaugino dispersion relation and propose a photonic effective action to consider aspects of confinement induced by the SUSY background fermion condensates, which also appear to signal Lorentz-symmetry violation in the photino sector of the action. Our calculations of the static potential are carried out within the framework of the gauge-invariant but path-dependent variables formalism which are alternative to the Wilson loop approach. Our results show that the interaction energy contains a linear term leading to the confinement of static probe charges.

He-McKellar-Wilkens effect and Scalar Aharonov-Bohm effect for a neutral particle based on the Lorentz symmetry violation

In this contribution, we discuss the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect and the Scalar Aharonov-Bohm effect for neutral particles based on the Lorentz symmetry violation background, by showing that the background of the Lorentz symmetry violation yields abelian quantum phases for a neutral particle. We also study the nonrelativistic bound states for a neutral particle interacting with a Coulomb-like potential based on the Lorentz symmetry violation background given by a fixed vector field parallel to the radial direction.

N=1-Supersymmetric Description of a Spin-1/2 charged Particle in a 5d-World

We study the dynamics of a charged spin-1/2 particle in an external 5-dimensional electromagnetic field. We then consider that we are at the $TeV$\ scale, so that we can access the fifth dimension and carry out our physical considerations in a 5-dimensional brane. In this brane, we focus our attention to the quantum-mechanical dynamics of a charged particle minimally coupled to the 5-dimensional electromagnetic field. We propose a way to identify the Abraham-Lorentz back reaction force as an effect of the extra (fifth) dimension. Also, a sort of dark matter behavior can be identified in a particular regime of the dynamics of the particle interacting with the bulk electric field.

Aharonov-Bohm-Casher Problem with a nonminimal Lorentz-violating coupling

The Aharonov-Bohm-Casher problem is examined for a charged particle describing a circular path in presence of a Lorentz-violating background nonminimally coupled to a spinor and a gauge field. It were evaluated the particle eigenenergies, showing that the LV background is able to lift the original degenerescence in the absence of magnetic field and even for a neutral particle. The Aharonov-Casher phase is used to impose an upper bound on the background magnitude. A similar analysis is accomplished in a space endowed with a topological defect, revealing that both the disclination parameter and the LV background are able to modify the particle eigenenergies. We also analyze the particular case where the particle interacts harmonically with the topological defect and the LV background, with similar results.

An Investigation of the $K_{F}$-type Lorentz-Symmetry Breaking Gauge Models in $N=1$-Supersymmetric Scenario

In this work, we present two possible venues to accomodate the $K_{F}$-type Lorentz-symmetry violating Electrodynamics in an $N=1$-supersymmetric framework. A chiral and a vector superfield are chosen to describe the background that signals Lorentz-symmetry breaking. In each case, the $\ K_{μνκλ}$-tensor is expressed in terms of the components of the background superfield that we choose to describe the breaking. We also present in detail the actions with all fermionic partners of the background that determine $\ K_{μνκλ}$.

Casimir Effect at finite temperature for the Kalb-Ramond field

We use the thermofield dynamics (TFD) formalism to obtain the energy-momentum tensor for the Kalb-Ramond (KR) field in a topology $% S^{1}\times S^{1}\times R^{2}$. The compactification is carried out by a generalized TFD-Bogoliubov transformation that is used to define a renormalized energy-momentum tensor. The expressions for the Casimir energy and pressure at finite temperature are then derived. A comparative analysis with the electromagnetic case is developed, and the results may be important for applications, as in cuprate superconductivity, for instance.

Diamagnetic susceptibility of spin-triplet ferromagnetic superconductors

We calculate the diamagnetic susceptibility in zero external magnetic field above the phase transition from ferromagnetic phase to phase of coexistence of ferromagnetic order and unconventional superconductivity. For this aim we use generalized Ginzburg-Landau free energy of unconventional ferromagnetic superconductor with spin-triplet electron pairing. A possible application of the result to some intermetallic compounds is briefly discussed.

First Order Semiclassical Thermal String in the AdS Spacetime

We formulate the finite temperature theory for the free thermal excitations of the bosonic string in the anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime in the Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) approach. The spacetime metric is treated exactly while the string and the thermal reservoir are semiclassically quantized at the first order perturbation theory with respect to the dimensionless parameter $ε= \a ' H^{-2}$. In the conformal $D=2+1$ black-hole AdS background the quantization is exact. The method can be extended to the arbitrary AdS spacetime only in the first order perturbation. This approximation is taken in the center of mass reference frame and it is justified by the fact that at the first order the string dynamics is determined only by the interaction between the {\em free} string oscillation modes and the {\em exact} background. The first order thermal string is obtained by thermalization of the $T = 0$ system carried on by the TFD Bogoliubov operator. We determine the free thermal string states and compute the local entropy and free energy in the center of mass reference frame.

Classical Solutions in a Lorentz-violating Scenario of Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Proca Electrodynamics

Taking as starting point the planar model arising from the dimensional reduction of the Abelian-Higgs Carroll-Field-Jackiw model, we write down and study the extended Maxwell equations and the corresponding wave equations for the potentials. The solutions for these equations correspond to the usual ones for the MCS-Proca system, supplemented with background-dependent correction terms. In the case of a purely timelike background, exact algebraic solutions are presented which possess a similar behavior to the MCS-Proca counterparts near and far from the origin. On the other hand, for a purely spacelike background, only approximate solutions are feasible. They consist of non-trivial analytic expressions with a manifest evidence of spatial anisotropy, which is consistent with the existence of a privileged direction in space. These solutions also behave similarly to the MCS-Proca ones near and far from the origin.

Non-Minimal Coupling to a Lorentz-Violating Background and Topological Implications

The non-minimal coupling of fermions to a background responsible for the breaking of Lorentz symmetry is introduced in Dirac's equation; the non-relativistic regime is contemplated, and the Pauli's equation is used to show how an Aharonov-Casher phase may appear as a natural consequence of the Lorentz violation, once the particle is placed in a region where there is an electric field. Different ways of implementing the Lorentz breaking are presented and, in each case, we show how to relate the Aharonov-Casher phase to the particular components of the background vector or tensor that realises the violation of Lorentz symmetry.

Dimensional Reduction of the Abelian-Higgs Carroll-Field-Jackiw Model

Taking as a starting point a Lorentz non-invariant Abelian-Higgs model defined in 1+3 dimensions, we carry out its dimensional reduction to D=1+2, obtaining a new planar model composed by a Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Proca gauge sector, a massive scalar sector, and a mixing term (involving the fixed background (v^μ) that imposes the Lorentz violation to the reduced model. The propagators of the scalar and massive gauge field are evaluated and the corresponding dispersion relations determined. Based on the poles of the propagators, a causality and unitarity analysis is carried out at tree-level. One then shows that the model is totally causal and unitary.

Classical Solutions in a Lorentz-violating Maxwell-Chern-Simons Electrodynamics

We take as starting point the planar model arising from the dimensional reduction of the Maxwell Electrodynamics with the (Lorentz-violating) Carroll-Field-Jackiw term. We then write and study the extended Maxwell equations and the corresponding wave equations for the potentials. The solution to these equations show some interesting deviations from the usual MCS Electrodynamics, with background-dependent correction terms. In the case of a time-like background, the correction terms dominate over the MCS sector in the region far from the origin, and establish the behaviour of a massless Electrodynamics (in the electric sector). In the space-like case, the solutions indicate the clear manifestation of spatial anisotropy, which is consistent with the existence of a privileged direction is space.

Dimensional Reduction of a Lorentz and CPT-violating Maxwell-Chern-Simons Model

Taking as starting point a Lorentz and CPT non-invariant Chern-Simons-like model defined in 1+3 dimensions, we proceed realizing its dimensional reduction to D=1+2. One then obtains a new planar model, composed by the Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) sector, a Klein-Gordon massless scalar field, and a coupling term that mixes the gauge field to the external vector, $v^μ$. In spite of breaking Lorentz invariance in the particle frame, this model may preserve the CPT symmetry for a single particular choice of $v^μ$. Analyzing the dispersion relations, one verifies that the reduced model exhibits stability, but the causality can be jeopardized by some modes. The unitarity of the gauge sector is assured without any restriction, while the scalar sector is unitary only in the space-like case. PACS numbers: 11.10.Kk; 11.30.Cp; 11.30.Er; 12.60.-i

Electron-electron Bound States in Parity-Preserving QED3

By considering the Higgs mechanism in the framework of a parity-preserving Planar Quantum Electrodynamics, one shows that an attractive electron-electron interaction may come out. The e-e interaction potential emerges as the non-relativistic limit of the Moller scattering amplitude and it may result attractive with a suitable choice of parameters. Numerical values of the e-e binding energy are obtained by solving the two-dimensional Schrodinger equation. The existence of bound states is to be viewed as an indicative that this model may be adopted to address the pairing mechanism in some systems endowed with parity-preservation.

Electron-electron attractive interaction in Maxwell-Chern-Simons QED3 at zero temperature

One discusses the issue of low-energy electron-electron bound states in the Maxwell-Chern-Simons model coupled to QED3 with spontaneous breaking of a local U(1)-symmetry. The scattering potential, in the non-relativistic limit, steaming from the electron-electron Moller scattering, mediated by the Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Proca gauge field and the Higgs scalar, might be attractive by fine-tuning properly the physical parameters of the model.

$A_n^{(1)}$ Toda Solitons: a Relation between Dressing transformations and Vertex Operators

Affine Toda equations based on simple Lie algebras arise by imposing zero curvature condition on a Lax connection which belongs to the corresponding loop Lie algebra in the principal gradation. In the particular case of $A_n^{(1)}$ Toda models, we exploit the symmetry of the underlying linear problem to calculate the dressing group element which generates arbitrary $N$-soliton solution from the vacuum. Starting from this result we recover the vertex operator representation of the soliton tau functions.
